Arsenal fans need to win two MAJOR battles to end the regime

So as not to lose inevitable steam on this, I thought I’d throw some ideas out about how you can mobilise. There are a few things we’ve learnt over the years, one of them being that what people say online doesn’t usually translate to offline. However, times are changing, the culture of getting out and about to protest seems to be gripping the world in a society that’s slowly awakening to many things.

This is football not the rumblings of fascism, I get it, but trends and behaviours often transcend categories and my hope is that the death of slacktivism will penetrate Arsenal fans and WAKE them from their slumber.

Blackscarf led a few thousand to protest a few years ago, so we know there’s a hunger in pockets. Other things that warm the cockles centre around the power of the mainstream media from a TV perspective and how it is starting to diminish. There’s a reason G.Neville and co are taking aim at fan platforms, that’s because Sky fans are generally far more interested in what they have to say than what paid for pundits think. I’m pretty sure Jamie Carragher even made reference the Premier League’s dwindling ratings, not just him, but on a recent BEIN Classico, their excellent commentator Ray Hudson celebrated a Madrid goal by saying…

‘… and to all those English fans watching on a stream, we know you’re there’

Anyway, point is, TV caters to all types of fan but it’s far more inclusive than blogging. People used to care what Alan Shearer had to say, now they just laugh at it. The power now sits online and the fans are taking over. So when AFTV bust out fire opinion, it connects with everyone and it feels real. Sure, it’s a bit cartoonish at times, but at least it’s real. You don’t need to worry that these guys have gluttoness agendas, because at most, it’s a bit of pub fame, at its worst, it’s a cheeky autograph from Arsene Wenger. No one is thinking about access, no one is thinking about an interview they’d like, no one is lining up a book deal.

Le Grove has been calling for Wenger’s head for years, and we have our fans, but blogging wasn’t for the masses. However, now the everyday man in the stands is hitting the camera and saying the same thing we’ve been preaching since 2007. Now, it’s becoming more and more acceptable.

So here’s what needs to happen. You need to take back the media narrative from the press and you need to make a statement that is visible in stands and audible to the manager during match day.

One is harder than the other.

In ground protests tend to only happen at the end of the season, and they’re lacklustre. I’m thinking back to the Norwich protest, the 75th minute thing at West Brom, they’ve all kind of fallen flat. Why? I’d say because they either involve effort like a march or walk. Or they involve something unnatural like leaving earlier than the 85th minute. Which feels silly. If you want to make a visual statement, as Cesc Appeal in the comments mentioned yesterday, it needs to be easy and highly visual. Think about United’s black and gold scarf movement. What can a whole bunch of fans do that stands out, sends a message to Wenger and sends a message to the board? Green scarves? Cashley Cole wodges of fake £20 notes? Stan toupes? I don’t know. But it has to be a low barrier to entry and it has to be low effort. The Europeans wave white hankies. The Ultras in Italy turn their backs on the team. There are easy things fans can do. The aim isn’t to disrupt the game, it’s to force the commentators to speak of the event, it’s for the press to write about.

Think what you want about A4 poster man from last week, I’ve had newspapers approach me to share his story and Henry Winter used his story to kill Gary Neville’s wild misjudgement of everyday fan feeling. Journalists live to write, if you give them fodder, they will eat it up. Problem at the moment is the balance is in the power of the club, they hand out players an expros like sweets.

What are the fans offering?

The second, slightly easier method of driving home the point is the oldest PR tactic in the book. The survey. I think they call it data journalism.

  • Hold survey to large number of fans tied to an organisation of credible nature
  • Gather data, draw insights, build press release
  • Send data to journos so they can draw their own conclusions
  • Feed it out on a quiet day so you own the narrative

90% OF ARSENAL FANS FROM X SUPPORTERS TRUST THINK WENGER SHOULD LEAVE

Now, usually the Arsenal Supporters trust has the most powerful of these surveys, but they drop it really late. Wenger will have signed by then and it’ll be over. So they’d have to decide based on member pressure whether they’d want to shoot this out early to prevent the absolute horror of an Arsene Wenger 2 year deal.

But as an active modern fan, you could sign up and join, pay the nominal fee and message Tim Payton and tell him you’d like them to pull this out early this year. He’s a staunch believer in a better Arsenal, I’ve watched him shout at Stan Kroenke during an AGM and I know plenty of very smart, rational chaps who run the show there who’d be more than happy to see the back of the Never Ending Wenger.

AST MEMBER HOTLINE

Not just those guys. Black Scarf have a mobilised membership of 20,000. JOIN

AISA run a survey. JOIN

Redaction seem more interested in decorating the stadium, but if they wanted to do something more beneficial that would raise the roof, boot the man who brings the doom. Their website is a bit of a hole, so much so, I’m not even sure if it’s the right one. Terrible SEO game.

Anyway, join and pressure them all to release their survey early.

Even better than that…

Why don’t they all get-together and do something? That would be a message so powerful, even the regime journalists wouldn’t be able to ignore or spin a story to dampen the resistance.

Ok, those are my thoughts. I’m merely offering ideas because I am in another country. Bit rich, but f*ck it, no one can say I didn’t support a better Arsenal before our owner continued his embarrassing relationship with Wenger.

Comments below. TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!

P.S. You see the stories about Wenger moving Petr Cech on? Joe Hart linked.  The ‘WENGER PLANS SQUAD CLEAR OUT’ stories dropping early. Like clockwork eh?

Criminal to not do what it takes to keep Sanchez in the side.
Essentially the only really world class player we have.

  2. HillWood

Wenger is aware of the fan with the banner at Chelsea cos he referred to him during his prezzer.
That was one fan with one banner and it’s still being shown

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/02/08/arsene-wenger-spares-arsenal-players-dressing-unrest-mesut-ozils/

Owner Stan Kroenke is desperate for Wenger to stay past this season and has put a two-year extension to his £8million-a-year contract on the table that just needs to be signed.

    Wenger presser

“The players are responsible for their performance and that’s all, not more than that.

The manager is responsible for the results and the team selection

The board is responsible for long-term decisions.”

    – – –

Make of that what you will…

  4. Thank you and good night

Paul Merson reckons only Sanchez would get into the spurs side if you done a combined team. Have to say I agree with him.

  5. Marc

Unless the stories about Allegri are true and the noises from the club are purely to stop the team switching off between now and the end of the season we’re going to need something far more noticeable than a few banners. Small protests outside the ground won’t be picked up by an agenda driven media and it’s easy for fans who don’t go to games to suggest that those that do stop attending.

I still think an easy but high impact event would be for fans to not take their seats for the first 10 or 15 minutes of the match. 20,000 plus empty seats that then fill quickly would certainly get picked up. If it happened at more than 1 match and grew in size I think the board might just take notice.

  6. GG

After wenger’s presser today I really hope that Hull beats us this weekend and Bayern completely rip us a new one.

Being out of the CL for a season will have no effect on Arsenal. Look
At Leicester and Chelsea. It might even help the new manager as he can just focus on the league in his first season

And let’s be completely honest, we have no better chance at winning the CL with wenger in charge than do Cherno More from Bulgaria. So there is no point. We are out of the league so hope we lose. Don’t care about top 4 so don’t care if we lose. As long as it means wenger fucks off , I am
    Now hoping we lose out

  7. Spanishdave

Wengers problem is that if he goes he is almost unemployable, being out of date, tactically lost and therefore he could only go to a smaller club.
He enjoyed the limelight of bring in a biggish club, and I doubt PS G would be interested now.
His ego would stop him going to another Prem club.
    China maybe?

  8. London gunner

This blog is full of pussies.

Why don’t you lot actually do something instead of complaining so much.

All it takes is a simple DIY banner and to stand outside of the stadium one game night.

If you have season tickets sneak in a banner or at the very least yell yourself hoarse telling Wenger to fuck off.

Just like the team itself Arsenal fans Are bottlers

  9. London gunner

Trust me if I had the time I would be setting the example all right.

My point stands if you can spend all day bitching about Arsenal. Get your arse to the stadium act like a man and make a stand for what you believe in.

  10. London gunner

    Pedro

You need to make the effort to get on tv. A visual presence is necessary.

We need a spokesman for the Arsenal fans that want Wenger gone that isn’t Claude.

  11. GG

    Spanish.

Don’t care what he does or doesn’t do after he leaves Arsenal. I’ll never think about arsene wenger again. Except maybe of how he fucked us out of a decade of Arsenal greatness.

The new manager will make us forget wenger very quickly.

  12. Marc

    You’re on here.

Really fucks me off when people who don’t go to matches tell others fans (some of which have been ST holders for 30 plus years) how to support their team.

Even worse when they don’t have the excuse of living on another continent.

  13. Marc

    Spanish

The guy’s 70 odd – this is it for him in management. He might go on with some TV work or become an Arsenal ambassador but there’s no way he gets or takes another managerial position.

  14. Kwame

What about Stan, Gazidis et al? There’s the need to push them to the edge. A Chinese billionaire owner may bode well for the club.

  15. Redtruth

    They already do that..lol

  16. Welbecchio

Le groan and its incessant moaning. What will you do when AW leaves? Ah that’s right just be moaning cunts about the new guy.

He won’t have a war chest and he’ll still have to work within an unadventurous framework. But forgot the the new man will win the treble in his 1st season….ah no that’s right we’ll more than likely miss out on the CL and settle for europa Thursdays!

  17. Cesc Appeal

‘hey guys i go to matches and if i see you withdrawing your support to the team to serve your personal interest/vendetta against the manager i will not be a happy gooner. i will have words with you about it.

just because its your opinion that wenger should go does not mean i have to follow it. damn fascists’

Yeah can you not see what a contradiction these two statements are?

So you don’t agree, and state you cannot, or should not be forced to agree, which is absolutely fine and correct.

But you are then going to ‘have words’ with people who don’t agree with you and want to show their displeasure with Wenger in one of the few ways they actually can in an impactful way?

  18. R.S.P.C.Arsenal

‘hey guys i go to matches and if i see you withdrawing your support to the team to serve your personal interest/vendetta against the manager i will not be a happy gooner. i will have words with you about it.

    Cesc

I know it’s not you but
Is that a posh way of saying you out side …
    Made me laugh the rotter

  19. Samesong

Protesting lol Wenger would be that kind to watch it on the big screen in his cosymansion sipping on earl grey while fans are fighting themselves rather than protesting for the club. The club is f ucked up.

  20. Cesc Appeal

    RSPCA

It could be, or it could literally mean he’s going to try to talk you out of your anti-Wenger, heretical ways.

    Not sure which is scarier.

I just really dislike that sort of thinking, we’re seeing it a lot in politics currently, people indignantly crying I don’t have to agree with you, but then then shouting, you better f*****g agree with me.

  21. Cesc Appeal

    Samesong

What was hilarious today though was for all the pro-Wenger fans who constantly cry and whinge that everyone ‘sucks Spurs’ dick’ on here, well, it seems Wenger is chief pro-Spurs man :)

  22. GG

    Welbecchio

Will the new manager get at least the 90m Wenger spent this season plus whatever dross he sells???

That would be enough for any manager to make Arsenal compete for the title.

Not wenger though. He spends 90m and we get worse.

The lengths these wenger apologists go to, to defend wenger is hilarious.

“But forgot the the new man will win the treble in his 1st season….ah no that’s right we’ll more than likely miss out on the CL and settle for europa Thursdays”

And how has wenger done on winning us the treble? He can’t even get close to winning the league , sorry can’t even come close to competing for the league. And he can’t even get past the round of 16 in the CL. And two Fa cups in 11 years. Wow. What a manager.

And please explain exactly what being in Europe has done for Arsenal? Other than increase the money in the bank. Because sporting wise in Europe we are a fucking joke under the incompetence of wenger.

Would you like to make anymore irrelevant points wellbechio???

  23. GG

    Wellbechio

What will you say if the greatest manager to ever live, Ze specialist in failure, leads us to Thursday night football for next season after spending the war chest of 90m pounds which is almost the same net spend as united spent?

  24. pires87

on the contrary cesc appeal…your opinion has been expressed, has it not? so why the need to basically go against your own club till you get what YOU want? i hope you can see that irrespective of opinions there is a fundamental error here in fan behaviour. wanting wenger out is one thing , maybe i agree maybe i dont, its democracy we can say what we want, just no nasty abuse and vitriol. he doesnt deserve it , you know it. plus the team needs fans to unite right now not divide. i dont have a problem with your opinion its the behaviour towards a club legend i disagree with .

  25. GG

    Pires

I’m sorry but you are 100% wrong

He deserves no respect. None whatsoever.

He had his chances and he’s blown it Year after year

He shows complete disrespect to the fans and just today he tells us to act like Spurs fans? A small club going playing beyond its expectations. Wenger hasn’t exceeeed expectations in 13 years.

The reason the fan base is divided is not because of the club. Or getting behind the club

It’s because of arsene fucking Wenger. And he’s so bloody arrogant and oblivious he can’t even see that’s it’s his fault and to actually tell the fans to get behind the team shows how out of touch with reality he is. Everyone is behind the team. It’s the cunt wenger we want gone

Everyone says we have the team to compete. It’s because of wenger we don’t

So please save your dramatics for untold Pires.

Give us one reason. One footballing reason why wenger shouldn’t get the abuse he’s getting. And to be fair. It’s hardly abuse.

  26. R.S.P.C.Arsenal

    Cesc

It’s people who claim they are democratic but don’t like it if it’s cut to the same groove as there thinking,
They then become passive aggressive, if that don’t work they will start. Marc …
Probably ironically in march when he announces he is leaving ..

  27. Cesc Appeal

    Pires87

    Not at all.

No, see, you’re doing the typical thing, ‘vile abuse’ walking out of the ground, staying away holding up a banner saying ‘thank you but it is time to go,’ is not vile abuse.

And as for your second point, what if I said to you that another take on the fan base uniting ‘for the players’ actually just leads to a reinforcing of the status quo? Wenger has said, though whether you can believe anything that comes out of his mouth is another matter, that he will see what the fans think before deciding, if he sees a packed stadium full of people acting as if inebriated in their total ignoring of now the thirteenth season of identical failures, might that not convince him everything is a-okay?

So, for that other fan, who does not share your opinion, they might say, yeah, walking out on my team sucks, but I think the damage done by sitting their like a good fan (in your opinion) would lead to far worse damage.

So Giroud goes home upset, Ozil has to dab his eyes, Sanchez needs to hug his dog because the people didn’t turn up and watch them capitulating away a season again, it is not really the end of days for them is it? And who is to say the players, some of them, are not as pissed off as all of us?

You came on here saying you didn’t have to agree with the train of thought, that is fine, and absolutely correct, You’ve then proceeded to say you will ‘have words’ with fans leaving, and have now claimed the moral high ground on what it means to be a fan.

Well, a fan puts their club first, if a fan thinks long term getting rid of Wenger is the only way to progress, they are going to do whatever they can to get that message across, are they not? Particularly with him being vulnerable, having only a few months left on his deal.

If you want Wenger to stay, great, that is your opinion, but seriously get stuffed trying to do the whole super-fan routine, its tired, and old, and boring and people just are not buying it anymore.

Nail your colours to the mast, be proud, be like a ‘Spurs fan’ as Wenger would say.

  28. R.S.P.C.Arsenal

I guarantee that the board is spilt 50 50 an there is a coup to get rid of him.
Respect is a song long since faded for him.

  29. Cesc Appeal

    RSPCA

There is a lot of Arsenal fans hiding agenda currently as well, supporting Wenger is becoming a seriously unpopular thing to do in a lot of places online, really now there are certain little bastions, or pockets where they can all go, Twitter, most online sports pages, most comments seem to be calling for change.

So they try to gain some validity by either saying they want change, or not saying what they want at all and then seek to dictate the rules for fandom.

I would never look to tell a supporter how to support their club, you are essentially telling them how to spend their money, but I think Pedro is saying, for those who want change, if you can and are willing, you might need to press for it while Wenger is ‘weak.’

But people come on and say ‘don’t tell me how to be a fan, now shut up while I tell you how to be a fan.’

  30. Welbecchio

    Gg

‘And please explain exactly what being in Europe has done for Arsenal? Other than increase the money in the bank. ‘

Keep asking rhetorical questions it’s a pretty straightforward process when you know the answer.

Is this the height of your protest GG? Furiously typing away on a laptop on another continent? I just applaud you…Bravo.

Try harder GG. Is that the bra size for your moobs?

  31. Colin

The man ignores the fights taking place between arsenal fans if he cared about the fans and the image of the club he would leave.

  32. Thank you and goodnight

    @Gunnerram

Seriously do us all a favour and fuck off. Prick.

    @pires87

As for you numbnuts do you honestly believe if we all get ‘behind the team,’ ( which most WOBS do by the way, it’s wenger they don’t get behind), do you honestly think some kind of rocky moment eye of the Tiger shit will happen and wenger will lead us to EPL glory?? Please please please fuck right off with your shit. It’s because of bellends like you burying your head up wenger’s arse and not seeing what is actually happening at our club that is allowing wenger kroenke and the board to piss on the REAL fans. Every fucking wob wants best for the club and your fucking fraud of a messiah has shown over last 7-8 years that it’s not him. We are going backwards under him and once Sanchez fucks off we will not be able to get any WC player to join us as all WC players know the man’s a fraud

  33. GG

Is this the height of your protest GG? Furiously typing away on a laptop on another continent? I just applaud you…Bravo.Try harder GG. Is that the bra size for your moobs?

Typical wenger apologist answer. They can’t answer so they spin, curse, thrown names and slags because that’s all they have left.

    Thanks wellbechio.

Just shown everyone on here you are cluless and resort to name calling when proven to be clueless.

I’ll wait here for answers to all
My questions I proposed to you.

But you keep on going and slagging me
Off, if that’s makes me you feel
More like a man and if that makes wenger a good manager in your head.

    Bravo son.

  34. GG

Interesting wellbechio that you ignore every other point I made because well they prove how clueless and wrong you are.

I’ll wait here for your answers on my footballing questions

You keep on going slagging off looking like an idiot

  35. Thank you and goodnight

These AKB’S are more fanatical than fucking isis. The bollocks they come up with. Before every fucking season for last 5 years most WOBS have predicted exactly how are season pans our correctly, yet we’re being blamed as though it’s our fault. Not the fault of the man who doesn’t do tactics or train the defence. A man whose signings over last 7 years have been mainly flops. A man who continues to reward mediocrity with huge contracts. A man who keeps giving injury prone players contract extensions even though we’re lucky if they play 10 games a season. A man who keeps giving players past their best new contracts e.g Arteta, mertesaker. A man who boasts about continuity in the team, yet 5 years on still doesn’t know his best team or play players in their correct positions. But yeah all our fault eh

  36. Rainman

Ewww, where did these slimy irritating Wenger ass lickers come from?

I believe the website you looking for is untold.

    Kindly fuck off, cheers.

  37. GG

    Pedro

Do we really have to keep reading “keyboard warrior” posts from idiots like wellbechio who in real life couldn’t beat up a 6 year girl but come on here typing away like some tough cunt?

  38. GG

    TYAG

Don’t forget. They are so smart and wise they know that the new manager will get us relegated and we won’t win a single match

There is no one in all of the world who can keep taking us to the lofty heights of the past 13 seasons other than wenger himself.

There is no one out there who can spend 90m and actually make the team worse. Nope. Just Arsene wenger.

There is no one out there who could lose the title to a team that cost 1/4 of ours after blaming money for not winning the league for 13 season. Just arSene wenger

No other manager who keeps his job by saying he gets us into CL every year and then blame the CL for not winning the league.

Funny we have lost 4 out of last 9 PL matches after the CL group stage was done.

But I thought it was the Cls fault chelsea is so far ahead?

  39. R.S.P.C.Arsenal

    Marc

I was unaware who posted the sentence originally …

I was commenting to another poster that it wad a posh way of offering someone out …
In essence I wad taking the rise out of the paragraph ..

    Do what

  40. TitsMcGee

Why dont any of the press say “Well Arsene, you have 3 world class keepers, your best ever attack……does that mean you are the problem?””

    Lol

He never gets called on his contradictions so he probably doesn’t even realize he’s doing it lol

It’s shameless really. He’s a football dictator. Arsenal fans sitting back and accepting it is just as bad.

There needs to be brawls in the stands. Not fighting for the sake of it but if the AKBs want to fight the WOBS for their opinions then don’t back down.

  41. GG

“I am long enough in the job to know that you go from hero to zero in one minute. But I am not affected by that too much, because I am the same person I was last Tuesday.”

    Hahahaha.

The cunt is so arrogant he thinks it’s the one game haha.

He is certifiably crazy and so far up how own ass is ridiculous.

Seriously, anyone know any MI6 that could make wenger “disappear”?

  42. PaddyV91

“When you work for 20 years for a club, everybody wants you out. That’s the modern world.” “But being in charge, being responsible, is a bit more serious than that.”

    Wengers presser today.
Wow. What an arrogant arrogant prick basically telling the fans they know nothing….can someone please please please just get this man to fuck off

  43. TitsMcGee

Wenger fumed: “I’ve been in the job for 34 years at the top level — and we have developed more players at this club than everybody else.

“If you look at the careers of the players when they have left us, you will see we are a club that gets the best out of them.

“I have managed more than 2,000 games and analysed every one of them deeply.”

I’m no psyhchiatrist but the quotes above seem to indicate an ego-maniac. Every sentence was “I” this and that.

Every sentence is “look at how great I am. How dare you or the stupid fans criticise me?”

  44. GG

Every sentence is “look at how great I am. How dare you or the stupid fans criticise me?”

And yet fans like Pires, black Hei, Pierre want us to respect him he doesn’t deserve the “abuse”

He deserves to be dragged out of the Emirates and hanged in front while being stoned to death. Metaphorically speaking of course

  45. Gelbsy

About to destroy the “Wenger had no money to compete” even more. As if Wenger would sign the right players, anyway. Even if he had a 100 million to spend each summer from 2006!
Look at United’s CL Final win. Where they also won the League that year, and almost another treble…
Can you honestly tell me, that Arsenal couldn’t afford these players, or at least of the same calibre, and not compete with the players they had already??
Van der Sar – 2 million or so
    Evra – 6 million
    Vidic – 7 million
Brown – Sagna was a better right back
Carrick – Gilberto/Diarra (Wenger sold him a few months later!)
    Scholes – Arsenal had Fabregas.
Hargreaves – right wing in the final… Waste of 20 million, and injury prone and not a wide midfielder anyway!
Tevez and Rooney – Probably of afforded Tevez at time. Either way, Adebayor was banging them in that season.

Pedro. Make this known on Twitter, lol. Vermaelen cost more than Vidic and Kompany. In 2011, Vidal went for around 10.5 million… Arteta, the same price!!

Not to mention the fact, too. That in 2006 after the stadium move, Arsenal should still of had the likes of Cole, Lauren, Campbell, Vieira, Edu and Pires on the books. Shit management let contracts run down, or didn’t renew early enough! People forget that… They think when Arsenal moved to the Emirates, we had no money, and no quality players at all! The invincibles was discarded awfully. If Wenger was such a great manager, or at least a very good manager, with the money he had, he could of at least bought potentially quality players, and it come to fruition within 3-4 years max. And that’s being kind! 2011 at the very latest!!

No he does not deserve abuse. The act of abusing is wrong in the first place.

If you guys want to protest, then it is a different thing. Everyone has the right to protest.

Just hope you folks know the difference.

  49. Black Hei

Oh well, lets turn to other distractions.

    1. Chezzer, Cech or Opsina. My pick is to bring back the crazy Pole. He isn’t the best but he is talented and he is Arsenal.

    2. Allegri as Wenger’s repalcement? I will say yes to that. Rzouki from ESPN disagrees which is why she is the Juventus resident blogger. But I think Allegri is perfect for Arsenal.

    3. Midfield combination. At this stage, I think we might seriously have to consider getting Ainsly-Matiland Niles and Ox in the mid while shifting Coquelin out to RB. Well, if only Xhaka wasn’t such a bone head.

  50. qna

    Black Hei.

    1. New Keeper (not Schez, Cech, Ospina or Hart)

    2. Koeman or Jardem

    3. The bone head (Xhaka) and the other take your pick. Play Ox until his little patch of form ends then. Then take your pick they are all equally useless. Probably Elneny next choice after Ox’s short term form fades.

The master of deception and self-delusion is at it again. Apparently the title race isn’t over. Little does he know that the title race has been over for 13 years.

  52. Thank you and goodnight

Like others have said on here it’s the sheer arrogance of the man….

    “2 bad results”

No Arsene it’s not 2 bad results it’s years of failure at exactly the same time of year and in the same manner for at least 8 years now.

  53. GG

The funniest and most pathetic thing is that he and most of his akb followers think
coming second , 10 points back of Leicester was some sort of achievement.

He is proud of it. Why are they mad at me

It’s so crazy that they spit that out when trying to defend wenger.

  54. Samesong

He isn’t the best but he is talented and he is Arsenal.

So that means he not a winner bottled it in big matches and loves Wenger. He isn’t no Arsenal or he wouldn’t be on loan and would of kept his place instead of smoking.

  55. Thank you and goodnight

    It’s about class…..hahahahaha

How many times has wenger refused to shake hands with other managers especially after a loss? Is that class? How many times has wenger blamed the refs for a defeat and refused to acknowledge the other teams win against us? Koeman called him out on it earlier in the season. Real classy the way we handled the saurez transfer eh. Arsenal class…..it’s a myth perpetuated by Arsenal as an excuse for failure.

    Your wrong sir

He is the deep root of the problem.

    We all know his failings,

But we don’t know his success ?
    Last 13 years …two fa cups …
    Grade b

Devalued when united were allowed to not take part ….
Devalued when the father play semis at wembely

    I’m guessing it’s more 60/40
    Fans want it gone …

Thebclub won’t takeva step forward untill he leaves ….

  57. Black Hei

    Samesong

He is doing a pretty good job at Roma who wants to sign him on permanently.

He is big and have very sharp reflexes.

Let’s look beyond reputations and focus on the performance.

  58. Thank you and goodnight

I think Chesney could be a very good goalkeeper with a proper coaching and a better manager. I also think (Gibbs and Walcott aside) that under a better manager we could get 30% more out of the players that’s why I wouldn’t be too hasty to get rid of them for at least a year under a new guy. Look at Victor moses under Conte.

You have a very good memory.
That’s what is holding the club back.
    Sentiment for the past.
Regarding the F A Cup we struggled to beat Hull but trounced an awful Villa team

Still sitting behind your laptop? Still ‘contributing’ to the cause? Great work.

10/10 if it’s been disrespectful and abusing an old man. That’s not leading a proper protest and doing anything about the awful plight of our once all conquering club is it?

It’s ironic that you’re the definition of a keyboard warrior isn’t it moobs?

Thank you and Goodnight. Its two seperate subjects. One subject : wenger in or out. Second subject: abuse

    abuse willnto be tolerated.

scream for change all you want…if you start swearing and abusing liek some totenham cunt i will knock you fucking face down. i promise. and all the proper wenger outs will be with me because they all also get that difference

i repeat wenger in or out : i dont care
calling him names like some hooligan cunt : i do care and i will fuck you up . bring it on

A few things not to do, before more positive suggestions:

    1. Do not provide cogent analysis of practical things to do: the Board and Manager have for years accepted such offerings with alacrity, used them (possibly slightly modified so they can claim they were original) and then claimed that they are innovative.

If this had happened once to me, be it with Arsenal or certain ex employers, I would suggest I could just tap into the zeitgeist or whatnot. When it has happened 50 times and more, it is clear that the concept of respect is totally absent and that a win-lose transactional contempt exists which sees constructive support as something to be milked and used.

    2. Do not expect journalists to take the fans’ point of view unless it is their own narrow interests to do so. Journalists are non-paying attendees of sporting events, being parasitical wordsmiths the world over. They have given fans strictures for years about how to behave, blithely forgetting that real fans pay for their own tickets, transport, nourishment etc etc, whereas they, the journalists, are on expenses-paid jollies. Journalists do not get it, because they do not shell out 10 – 15% of their hard earned cash every year. They toddle off to Brazil, get paid to attend the SuperBowl in return for trashing Russian Presidents, they get freebies to Champions League finals, FA Cups etc etc etc. They write to order, to preserve their employment and many now know less about football than you or I. Or, if they know more, they are constrained by circumstances to write drivel. So only consider journalists as useful if their survival instincts cause them to side with you……

    As for what to do:

The ground has long been a place for pithy banter between rival sets of fans, occasionally between fans and the manager/the Board and more usually, taking out frustration on refereeing decisions on the man in black.

The thing about that is that there are not that many bits of banter that are well enough known for the whole crowd to join in, so it’s pretty much down to ‘You don’t know what you’re doing!’, ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning!’ or
    the like.

This is where social media can come in. Collecting together the sort of original material that traditionally made tabloid editors salivate, then distributing to tens of thousands of readers does seem a more likely way to generate chants likely to make their mark. Twenty thousand people singing them is rather louder than 200, isn’t it?

Of course, all this does still assume that those who are going to the ground feel the way that people here generally do. My two attendances this season (top deck, half way and near corner flag) saw the presence of far, far more foreign tourists than when I had a season ticket for 6 years. Most were wanting me to take selfies of them with their girlfriends, which I graciously did. I am not sure they are the sorts of knowledgeable, passionate and fiery fans that you find here….

As for trashing Alan Shearer in this article, to be fair to him, he was standing up for the views of fans concerning the FA Cup (particularly of clubs very unlikely to win the EPL or qualify for the Champions League): he was saying that fans want to watch their side win a trophy, they want the glory, they are not interested in the finances other than whether that produces a good team which allows them to win trophies.

There are after all plenty of Arsenal fans who would quite happily trash the FA Cup and the League Cup and just focus on the EPL. So you would not agree with Shearer’s view their either.

As for Gary Neville, one should always start from the truth that he is a died-in-the-wool Man Utd figure, pure and simple. If he sees Arsene Wenger as no threat to Utd winning in future, he will stick up for Arsene Wenger. Fergie after all toned down his rhetoric when he felt he had seen Wenger off. His invective was a mark of respect of true adversaries.

My view on all the ‘be careful what you wish for’ viewpoints is this: I know what you get with Wenger and my sensory faculties are no longer stimulated by it. It’s a bit like having drunk coffee for years and no longer getting a hit from it. I am of the view that short of a radical shake up, Wenger will no longer win Arsenal the EPL or the Champions League. My view is that he is doing things the way he has always done them and the world has moved on. So I am prepared to take the risk of failure to try and see success with a new manager.

I am also personally of the opinion that the Frenchness of Arsenal needs flushing out. I do not see my duty as an English fan to be subsidising the development of the French national team and it is clear that the French nation has been the biggest single taker out of Arsenal FC since 1996. The French get very stroppy in all facets of life when you say things like this. They lose graciousness and become nasty. There are always ways to get around that……

I am not saying the next manager has to be English. I am saying they should not be French. The culture of passport-related contracts has to stop.

The key, crux question which I presume has not been asked is this: ‘has Wenger refused to accept a Number Two whose skills add value to his and iron out his own weaknesses?’

Such a person would be tactically extremely astute, a good motivator using individualised approaches to that and unafraid to be frank with the media. As soon as a player throws a strop for being called out as playing badly, they are unworthy of earning £10,000 a week, let alone £100,000. As Graeme Souness said recently, ‘proper professionals don’t need to be told to retire’. They are honest with themselves, know when their time has come and are grateful for the career they had. If the criticism is measured, backed up by evidence and not repeatedly about the same player (they should have been dropped if it needs to be), there are no issues. The fans will feel the manager is in touch and treating them like intelligent adults, rather than stringing them along with vacuous nonsense.

There are of course people who simply cannot work with a number two like that. I have worked for at least two. I left both because of it. Whether Wenger is like that or not, only those on the inside will truly know.
