So guys, thanks for your honesty in what to do next on the site.

4. Site refresh

I’m gonna get on point 1 / 2 straight away. Stay tuned.

Arsenal lightened the mood around the world by announcing we’ve signed Cohen Bramall from a non-league side for next to eff all. The lad looks very capable after 6mins of extensive Grimantubing, plies his trade on the left, so I expect he’ll be a right midfielder within the next few years.

What I do find interesting is the massive PR push behind him. Sure, I’d understand it if it were Xhaka, but it seems very aggressive for a player who has never played top flight football here? The guy doesn’t even have Rob Holding levels of experience and I’ve seen him on Sky, there’s a picture of him signing a deal with Wenger, we’ve had his family in the press and I’ve read 26 interviews with him or about him and I think I just added his autobiography to my kindle?

I’m all for creating celebrity, I’d just have thought the club might go a little easy on a young lad who has a lot to learn. I mean, maybe he doesn’t have a lot to learn and he’s the new Marcelo, but I do worry when we do this with young kids. I have harsh visions of Wenger telling us Yaya Toure could be a £50m player.

ALSO, while I’m on the subject of young English kids, what the hell has happened to Rob Holding? Guy looked like the new Paolo Maldini a few months ago, Arsenal fans uncontrollably messing themselves at their desks sharing tweets of smug Arsene because he’d landed a player better than John Stones, but where he at?

Now my point here isn’t that he might not be the next BIG TONY ADAMS LADS LADS LADS, my point is this… if he’s not going to play in the first team, and we’re out the league cup, should we not have him on loan at West Ham? The guy is very capable, way more capable than Calum Chambers who Arsenal fans whacked skippy like zoo macaques because he was the new John Terry. So finding a club and being very good shouldn’t be a problem.

Instead, we’re wasting a year of his development watching him on the bench. He has literally no chance of making the first team. By the time Kos picks up an injury, Per will probably be back… then when Per leaves this summer (has to be a chance right?), we’ll basically have a very raw Rob Holding.

Same for Bramall, a guy who looks so sweet, he’d get bullied by children TV presenters, is a raw talent. If he’s not going to be back up for Monreal, farm him right back out on loan to a Championship club if they’ll take him. It’s all about experience at that age. But, it’s very typical of Wenger not to think ahead about things like that.

Just as a side note, on the rags to riches front, it’s quite interesting that the papers are running with the, ‘he was made redundant from a car factory’, like that was it for him, life over. I also like that he’s pure Arsene Wenger defender…

‘I wanted to be a left winger and he said in front of my mum and dad “no I want you to be a left back”.

Good luck to you son, I hope the PR circus is worth it, because it’d be great to have proper home grown left back ripping it up at Arsenal for years to come!

Right, see you in the comments my darlings.

Yeah no pressure or anything kid, unless the young lad has the goods, I think the PR is a bit harsh, he’s been geared up as some sort of treasure find, a diamond sitting in the river bed covered by silt ready to rumble and be top rate.

But then, we do like throwing youngsters under the bus, either in terms of PR spin like this, or overplaying, or leaving the squad in a state to the point that an injury means they are thrust into a situation they should not be in, focus then moves onto them and their shitty displays and not as to why a nineteen year old with a handful of EPL games is being asked to be a prominent part of Arsenal’s back line.

Best of luck to him though, no problem with taking the punt, as long as it doesn’t impact us going forward in a negative fashion.

  2. Jonraid

Hello everyone. Haven’t really welcome DM back from his long holidays yet. Welcome back to the daily misery of watching Wenger tearing Arsenal apart bit by bit.

  3. gambon

Bramhall will be on loan at Charlton is 12 months, and quietly exited from the club in 2 years.

Just like Bischoff, Park, Jenkinson, Senderos, Mendez, Malz, Squillaci, Warmuz, Santos, Denilson etc

    Wenger is such a chancer.

  4. Mark S

I’ve had similar thoughts about young Mr. Holding as well. When he has played…particularly with Kos…he’s looked a good player. Chambers has had a nice run at Middlesborough this year, and it would be nice to see him use that experience to make an impact in the Arsenal squad next year.

The Bramall signing and all of the publicity that have surrounded it, make me wonder a couple of things:

    1. By saying that he’s going to be a left back in the future, it stops people from discussing the fact that we need a left back right now! Monreal has looked off the pace the last few weeks, and Gibbs has actually looked like the better player.
    2. It makes Arsenal look “good” to the public. It’s almost like they’re saying, “Hey…look at us. We didn’t spend 50 million on some European left back. No…we bought local. (It’s like when you’re over at your friends to have dinner, and they proudly crow that the meal you’re eating was made entirely from food purchased at a local farmer’s market instead of Tesco. I mean…you’ve got to support the little guys…or you’re just a greedy bastard.) We have faith in this lad that he’ll come good. You should get behind us for doing this. ENGLANNNNNNNNDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!”
    3. If Bramall does come good, he pretty much has to owe Arsene/Arsenal everything for his rags to riches story aka another player crowing about Arsene made them into the person they are today. I wonder if Ox, Theo, and Ramsey would ever come out and say, “Yeah…Wenger found me…but I got worse under him. He kind of ruined me, but I’m a lot richer because of it.”

Thanks v much. I’ve been back for over a month but even so 😀

Can’t stand the Jan transfer window.

    Can’t stand any transfer window.

When will the protests start at Emirates and near the undergprund stations. Could we see it getting preponed from Feb to Jan please?

BTW, that shoving pushing of Wenger at the Liverpool station was something mates. Let that show begin. Enoug of this PL PL games. We are bored.

You’re being too hard on yourself. Your writing isn’t s***… no, far from it.

If you want to what s*** writing looks like pop over to Untold… it’s utterly unbelievable what Atwood and his gang tell themselves. Now that’s the definition of garbage.

  8. azed

“. By saying that he’s going to be a left back in the future, it stops people from discussing the fact that we need a left back right now! ”

    Mark S on the money.

The signing is just to keep the AKB’s busy with the future so they don’t notice we are failing in the present.

  9. Emiratesstroller

Frankly I have no objection to Arsenal recruiting Bramall. There are always a small number of players who have been overlooked in their teens, but have the potential to make the grade.

Arsenal have recruited such players in the past. Ian Wright for example was a
late developer who joined Crystal Palace in his 20s and then moved onto us.

Kolo Toure came to us and cost by all accounts a “bowl of rice”. He was certainly a very good signing.

Bramall has cost us a £40,000 signing fee and his wages are £3,000 pw. That is
hardly going to break the bank and is certainly a very cheap investment when
you see how much it costs the club for every Academy player on our books and how few make the grade.

The worst scenario is that he flatters to deceive and spends one or two seasons
with us playing probably in U23 teams. The total cost for one year is under £200K and for two years around £350K.

If he makes the grade to let’s say sitting on the bench of first team that is I would suggest a fantastic investment.

  10. Mark S

I agree with you about it not costing anything Emiratesstroller. It gives the club good press, and the total value of the deal (transfer fee and wages) is less than two weeks of paying Theo Walcott. Why not take a punt on him? He seems to have the physical tools, and now he just needs to develop. Good luck to the young man!

  11. Mark S

And if things don’t work out, and he ends up at a Charlton, Burton Albion, or MK Dons (No disrespect meant to any of those clubs, they’re just my examples.)…he’d probably be thrilled to be playing League Football.

  12. Dr Arshavin

Been reading this blog for years but this is my first post…………felt an urge to share the pain of a dream (nightmare) I had last night……………

It involved not beating Spurs ever again under Wenger-does anyone actually believe we are capable of beating them again, on the assumption off course that, Wenger signs for another two years?

  13. Hefdgooner

First of all I think Sky picked up on the Cohen B story and made it into the big deal it has become amd clearly joining Arsenal at the age of 20 from the 8th tier of English story is a bigger deal than joining from Bolton. And obviously they re not going to loan him out straight away as they ll want to spend time working with him and developing him before any possible loan
Finally when was Holding meant to be loaned out we d no fit cbs at the start of the season then window closes now it’s open again but kos went off injured in his last game mustafi s just back and per is still out we re 1 injury away from needing holding very badly!!! Rant over….thanks!!!

  14. The Godfather

I still insist our future in defense should be Holding and Bielik. Loved the way they played with intelligence and assertiveness together. Chambers was embarrassing when he came in

  15. gambon

    Belik looks shocking.

    Another complete waste of money.

Wenger told us he was coming into the first squad (because he felt embarrassed about the size of the fee) and 2 years later hes no closer.

Another one that will be quietly exited from the club after a couple of crap loan spells.

  16. Cesc Appeal

    Magic

You and Ozrus should have a conversation, about the same level of intellect it appears, your one of those types who prefers to shut down a debate rather than engage in one because you’re terrified of actually having that debate, preferring personal attacks as opposed to any sort of substantial comment of any real quality, because it is a bit beyond you.

I’m confused though, are you trying to say that experience in football is needed to have an opinion on it, in line with your man, or some form of life experience, in which case making a presumption about me and my life based on the fact I’m studying an LLM is a bit presumptive, you have no idea about my life and experiences, but then, coming from a guy who is on his, what fifth, sixth moniker, why should anyone be surprised by your low quality, agenda ridden, hateful posts?

So geographic requirements, experience requirements, anything else we should be aware of before you can make any form of statement, get it in quick because it is quite likely you will end up binned again and then strop off for a while before coming back on, again, spewing the exact same crap.

there was an article on sky sports a week or two back about how most of the top coaches – Klopp, Guardiola, Poch, Wenger etc – prefer to keep promising young players at the club training with the first team on a daily basis rather than farming them out to a lesser side.

  18. underrated Coq

Magic Mustafi, what a strange thing to say. Does it mean you bypassed the education phase and scooted straight to profession? Or does it mean you never had opinions when you were a student yourself?

  19. EN1AFC

Pedro me and a few mates were discussing this the other day, it is very strange the way he’s been paraded in the media totally out of the blue and unlike any signing I can ever remember?

It is a fairytale story though it has to be said and I can only imagine how he and his family feel! Made redundant just before Christmas to then signing for The Arsenal a few weeks later on £3k a week! I did read that our cheif scout Steve Rowley has never seen a player from his level come in and play the way he did in his trial so fair play to him!

I doubt we will see much of him again personally but you never know! Good luck to him.

  20. Thank you and goodnight

Good luck to the lad. Even if we do never see him again I hope he makes as much as he can for his future. After all wenger’s made millions and he’s been doing fuck all for years

  21. Emiratesstroller

I made the case earlier this morning on the previous thread that we had too many players on our books whose contracts were due for renewal in less than
    18 months.

My concern was not whether they would stay or leave, but rather that they become a diminishing asset if no contracts are signed by July 1st.

Taking a look at the list of 10 players I would wish to retain three of the players
    namely Sanchez, Ozil and Giroud.

There were four other players on the list who have a significant market value
namely Ramsey, Wilshire, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Szczesny. The first three
because they are British born and the fourth because he is home grown. All
    at the right age.

The problem is that Arsenal will be reluctant to sell these players to our main
rivals and that would mean the transfer fee will be less.

Whilst there are many posters on Le Grove who would be happy to see all these players go apart from Sanchez the reality is that no club even under a
new manager would be disposed to sell 10 players in one shift. That would be
counterproductive and destabilise the team/squad and could result in other
    players leaving.

If I was to choose I would wish to keep Sanchez, Ozil,Giroud, Wilshire and Szczesny.

Wilshire is a talented player and if managed properly can be a major asset. The only issue is his fitness which should be independently evaluated.

Szczesny has proven a competent goalkeeper in his two seasons at Roma. Personally I think that he is a better longterm investment than Ospina and Cech
will need to be replaced no later than 2018. Do we want or need to be spending
    £30-50 million on a goalkeeper?

Ramsey and Oxlade-Chamberlain are frankly no better than squad players and I believe retaining such players and for that matter Gibbs can be counterproductive. Squad players who do not improve or secure a regular starting place need to be moved on after three or four years.

Squads need to be refreshed something which is seldom happening at Arsenal under Wenger.

  22. gambon

    Emirates

    Youre worried about nothing.

Giroud has agreed a new deal….apart from that Sanchez is the only one that we need to retain.

We could sell Szczesny, Ramsey, Ox and Ozil without worrying at all.

  23. TheBayingMob

There goes Wenger again … selling the future in a PR debacle. He’s a lost old man, doesn’t know what else to do.

“Let me sign a new contract, everything will be good in 2020! Promise”

    Cunt.

    Wenger Out

  24. TheBayingMob

“I made the case earlier this morning on the previous thread that we had too many players on our books whose contracts were due for renewal in less than
    18 months.”

This scenario has been constant under Wenger. No planning whatsoever. He always puts the club in the worst possible contract negotiation situation. It’s laughable management by the 8.5million a year man.

  25. Jeff

Another nothing signing that will have no effect on the immediate future (i.e. this season). The only question in Wenger’s mind is whether or not he will finish in the CL places. Everything else is purely a question of just going through the motions. No passion, no ambition, no desire, no hope.

Claude Makélélé joins Swansea as Paul Clement’s assistant coach

    Good things happening at Swansea
Makalele knows the Ligue un quite well after his failed stint at Bastia. Clements has an inside track on Madrid and more recently with Bayern.

  27. Leedsgunner

If Paul Clement does a decent job at Swansea — I actually think he would be a good manager for us. He was very unfairly dismissed at Derby. .. imo… great pedigree — loads of contacts with all the top clubs in Europe…

PS: Decent job does not equate to survival (although it would be amazing if he pulled it off) I think Hull and Swansea are lost causes I would be more interested in seeing how Clement handles the pressure and the players he manages to attract.

  28. Frankie T

I hope the Brammall signing is a successful one. However lets just remind ourselves of some of the “next big things” we once had.

    Ignasi Miquel
    Fran Merida (Cesc 2)
    Denilson (shivers down the spine)
    Justin/Gavin Hoyte
    Kerrea Gilbert
Mark Randall (his name was banded about for what feels like decades)
    Johan Djourou
    Thomas Danelivicius
    Yunichi Inamoto
    Armand Traore
    Henry Lansbury
    Jeremy Aliadiere
The Chinese striker we signed a couple years ago (where’s he gone)
    Quincy Owusu Abeyie

Let’s hope Brammall doesn’t end up with that lot.

  29. Guns of Hackney

    Peter,

Perhaps a refresh of the site but ultimately if Arsene does ever leave, Le Grove will instantly become a brand new site, regardless. Imagine the excitement of talking about a new manager, new system, players…tactics…the unknown. Oh my, I’m getting a bit like I was back in 1996. Ironic really.

We’ll never see Bramble. Once in the milk cup…a 5 second show in a CL game because everyone is injured and then quietly out the tradesmans entrance in three years.

  30. Thank you and goodnight

I really hope Bramall proves us wrong although admittedly the odds are stacked against him. Though in fairness, very few youth players at the so called big clubs break through now a days. I wonder why? Not sticking up for le twat, but seriously how many youngsters have come through in last 10 years for Chelsea, United, Liverpool or the spuds.?

  31. Thank you and goodnight

It’s not funny. I’ve even started to look at what TY wears everytime he’s interviewed and thought, mmm that looks smart, those Arsenal headphones really top that look.

I read that the stories linking us are not likely true, more likely the sporting director trying to drum up interest in him and sell him for a big price. In terms of the players I’ve read mixed things, some people saying he’s a complete No.9, some people saying he’s a touch overrated.

Ultimately though, not sure about you, but I’m beyond caring about transfers, aside from one.

This season is the first in 30 years that I have lost a little interest I have missed 40 percent of the home matches. I cannot just sit there and watch groundhog day again. I really hope this is Arsenes last season. Somehow I doubt it I really think we will not see the back of him for at least another 3 seasons.
Unless if course we finish 6th

  38. Jeff

    Thanos.

You’re not alone. There’s a reason why the stadium gets emptier and emptier as the season goes on. Around August, September and even October fans get all wound up expecting something different and then by December and January it all begins to look so familiar. Most fans are already in “next season” mode because they know inwardly (whether they would admit it to others or not) that the big ones (CL and PL) are gone again. In fact, realistically it’s just the FA cup left and we are making hard work of even that too.

Then what happens is the Wenger faithful start to look for scapegoats while those who long for change (like me) have no choice but sit and wait knowing with absolute certainty that we can’t win anything worthy under Wenger. In reality it’s a lose-lose situation for all the fans.

Some purists (usually Wenger apologists) like to put a brave face on it and pretend they’re watching for the thrill and excitement of the football. But no one really cares about that. When you haven’t had any bread for 13 years, do you really care how it’s made? It’s all bullshit.

Congratulations Pedro. Missed saying that yesterday. What you have achieved is massive. To put up with all of us is even a greater feat. I know plenty of blogs where dissenting opinions I put across respectfully are placed in review for hours, and then never get published. Never here. If you lived in Nigeria you would be planning a massive party to mark 10 years and 50k blogs. You would have sent pre-notifications to your friends and fans soliciting for us to place and pay for full page colour congratulations to you in leading newspapers on the appointed anniversary day. You would have got an illustrator friend of yours in the agency to create a befitting ’10 years and still groving’ logo. And you would be Chief Pedro the First now, having received a chieftaincy title from one of many kings ‘for contributions to sports development’.

For ideas, how about laying off Coquelin for a while? If that’s tough, how about trying to cultivate an Arsenal ex-player or two for behind-the-scene accounts of games that happened in their time? Stuff only an insider would know.

On today’s blog, I think Wenger is keeping Holding because he realizes that Per is done, and is only there for his influence, like Arteta.

  48. Leedsgunner

That Bramhall signing IMO for what it’s worth reeks of complacency. You sign promising youngsters to complement existing world beaters at your club. You build for the future when your present is secure and thriving. Can we say that about our present squad?

Oh well I guess I should not be too surprised. In Wenger’s mind this present squad is “the best” he’s ever had (as he tells us every year) and in his mind he wins the most important trophies every year.

The kid is a bag of talent. Sending off to Barnsley and Oxford is nothing short of comical.

Really really impressed with Southampton. Not about tonight’s result, but the way they’re run. They lose managers, they’re best players yet still play some good football and carry on as normal whereas many clubs would collapse. From top to bottom they’re run solidly. They unearth gems and they’re scouting network is very impressive.

Bramall is signed specifically for U23s because there are no potential break outs at the youth levels.

Rob is different. He was signed to play potentially in the first team.

Both information are on Arsenal.com which can be found by checking the squad list.

The youngsters are better off spending their first year in Arsenal, especially the ones from lower leagues to work on their technique.

Chambers seems to be doing a job for Middlesbrough in the mid. He might be able to do something for us in the future.

  54. qna

Black Hei: Chambers seems to be doing a job for Middlesbrough in the mid.

Yes, because this is his level.

Black Hei: He might be able to do something for us in the future.

No. He wont. Not anything useful anyway. But that doesnt stop us playing dross and finding out the hard way.

  55. Black Hei

    qna

I did say “might”, not “will”.

After countless Djourous and all, I am not that optimistic. Just don’t write them off so dismissively.

His problem is poor acceleration and turn of pace. That can be mitigated with positioning and experience, which he is getting thankfully.

  56. qna

Black Hei: After countless Djourous and all, I am not that optimistic. Just don’t write them off so dismissively.

Wrong again. After all of the countless Jenkisons and so on, writing off another one is precisely what we must do. Fool me once… fool me a hundred times. There is absolutely zero chance that this kid will be a full back worthy of a top 4 side. ZERO.

Have you heard your messiah’s latest commenst:

“I’ve said to our scouts to look at the lower leagues because the good players are there now.

“Don’t forget we have many foreign players in the Premier League but good English players have to go down to develop.

“What I think will happen is that you will have more and more players coming out of the lower leagues who have had to fight their way through.”

Where is his evidence for this? Exactly which players have now come through the lower leagues? Is he looking for another Vardy? What happened to Vardy this season? Believe what you want AKB. But you are listening to the ramblings of a senile man who has no clue what he is doing any more. Its sad for him – it will happen to all of us one day. But just pathetic on your part that you don’t know any better.

  57. Black Hei

    qna

Man what’s wrong with you? Lost in cards the night before? Cat peed on your toothbrush?

Bramall was spotted by Brian McDermot, a relatively new guy on our scouting scene, to sign for the U23s who currently do not have enough LBs. So before you start tearing your hair off…..

Jose Fonte from Southampton is your guy for someone who made it from the lower leagues.

To be fair, can’t think of anyone else who is contemporary.

  58. qna

@Black Hei. Hahaha. Oh great. Yeah, lets focus our transfer strategy at getting the next Jose Fonte. It is absurd. We are in desperate need of an actual LB as Monreal has lost all resemblance of a top quality player and Gibbs has and always will be terrible. There is no need for us to top up our U23s.

Is Arsene Wenger trying to be the next Oprah Winfrey. Picking out random people to give them a giveway of a lifetime.

Yaya Sonogo…. you were getting ready to retire from football to concentrate on being a postie. But wait… you are the lucky winner of Arsene’ Giveways.

Cohen Bramall.. you thought 7th division football was too hard.. and you were really upset that your factory was going to can you… But wait….

Can’t really judge the player until he puts on that first team shirt but agree that we should be looking much better and instead of this kid media hype be tying down Sanchez to a bumper contract.

  60. Wallace

arseblog reporting media in Italy think Roma want to make the Szczesny loan deal permanent for around 16m. interesting one. 27yrs old now, and obviously playing well.

  61. Ondgooner

Wenger equates to, “nonsense youth policy” I bet you the likes of Chambers, Rob holding and soon this young lad would be wandering, “why did I bother coming here?” Wenger’s youth policy has been nothing short of abysmal! Bye bye Arsenal for the end is near!!!

  62. Thank you and goodnight

Sczez is a good goalkeeper. But Arsenal’s goalkeeping coaches are shit, plus like 90% of our players he was allowed to coast. The fact that he even thought about smoking in a changing room after a game shows the lack of indiscipline and lackadaisical approach rife throughout the club. Arsenal Fc under wenger is a holiday camp.

    Dear TYAG

I am in London until tomorrow (Friday). It was my birthday yesterday and I am horrifyingly hungover. Your post from yesterday stating that you were becoming an AKB and asking for help was very disturbing. However, help is at hand. I have loads and loads of nougat bars with me, which my son, Olivier, had asked me to bring over from NZ as he says the French are shit at making the stuff. I am willing to give them to you instead. I am not sure why that may help you realise the deranged state into which you have sunk but my head is pounding into a parallel universe this morning and I am not sure of anything anymore.

  64. Thank you and goodnight

Arsene Wenger likes to talk about class, professionalism, mental strengthzzzz…3 things seriously lacking under his stewardship

  65. Thank you and goodnight

    @GuNZ

As I slip on my Arsene wenger boxer shorts and socks, whilst getting up from under my Arsene I love you duvet, your help will be greatly appreciated as will the nougat. Sipping a latte from my Arsenal water bottle as I text, I would appreciate any more help forthcoming as I find myself these days arguing with everyone I meet on my way to work shouting at them” did I interrupt you” a la TY. Got to hurry as im downloading The Arsene love song volume 12 to listen to on the train and I’m late. Thanks again

I hope you wake up from your hangover and realize that the princely sum of $40k that we paid for signing Bramall has no bearing on signing a first team LB which is an entirely different rant topic altogether.

If you want to go on a rant, don’t drag the poor kid into the equation. He was spotted by Brian McDermot , if that name rings any bells.

  67. Thank you and goodnight

    @GuNz

I already do and as it is I have a pic of Arsene on my ceiling looking down at me as I choke the chicken listening to his favourite quotes. Usually don’t make it past the top top top qaulideeeeeee quote when I reach the money quote. Must stop cumming into my Arsene socks though as it’s costing me a fortune and the excuse that I have a cold and blew my nose into my socks love, honest, is wearing thin

Are you stupid? It doesnt matter if he was free like Sonogo. A player that is not good enoguh blocks the development of talent that might actually be good enough. We have a ZERO track record of converting English kids into anything resembling a first team player for a top club. This is nothing more than another futile attempt by Wenger by buying a lottery ticket. Its a insult to intelligent Arsenal fans around the world.

  69. Thank you and goodnight

Also the fact I get my missus to dress up in an oversized Arsene puffa jacket and pretend to play with the zip shouting ‘merde’ as I take her from behind is causing tension in the house

that’s your opinion, RSPC Arsenal. the 5 players listed would easily fetch over 100m if sold which suggests other clubs might hold them in higher regard than most of the fans on le grove.

  78. qna

Black Hei: If you want to go on a rant, don’t drag the poor kid into the equation. He was spotted by Brian McDermot , if that name rings any bells.

I am not dragging the kid into anything. I wont even bother learning his name. He is nobody and he will be nobody. But there are two types of kids that enter the Arsenal system.

    1) Those with never enough talent in the first place – eg. Jenkinson, Sonogo – these guys get a pretty good deal. They get overpaid for a Career that would have otherwise gone nowhere special anyway.

    2) Those with talent – these guys just wont get the top class education they need to become world class under Wenger. They have made a mistake and they will never achieve the heights of their career that they might have if they went to a club that actually knows how to develop talent. e.g. Gnabry, Vela, Wilshere, Ramsey.

I just hope your guy in category 1 – for his sake.

Whats that? I cant here you with Wenger’s balls in your mouth. Exactly what are you saying? Because the names I suggest we buy only get more expensive, so simply buying and selling them would have made money. And the ones I say we should pass on get spat out from other clubs and move to Everton for 22m or stay with Leicester but cant buy a goal and need to go back down to the lower leagues from which they came.

  81. qna

Wallace: Gibbs, Wilshere, Ramsey, Walcott, Iwobi

This is where you do all of Great Britain a disservice and to be fair, many of them do it for themselves. But nobody whose footballing opinion that anybody should possibly respect would suggest these names are first team players of a top club. Not a single person with a shred of intellect. Squad players – perhaps some of them. But first team – of a top club. No.

RSPCA. I am not talking about premier league level. I am talking about top teams, that can genuinely compete for the league and genuinely compete for the champions league. As bad as the PL is technically, it has so much money that its top clubs should be capable of winning the CL. I dont say that Arsenal players are not premier league level and Chambers appears to be that. But he would never be more than depth at a top club. Arsenal are stocked full of good but not great players. Players that teams fighting for Europa league would gladly have as starting players. But these players would never get near a starting 11 of a really top team.

I have to give one accommodation to these players that I am slaying. Our manager is so outdated and poor in the team that he puts out now and the style of football that he has them playing, that its harsh to judge our players. A good quality manager would get a much better brand of football out of these same players and some of them may not be as bad as they sometimes look. But I am still very confident that a top manager like a Conti, or Allegri would be looking to sell most of these players and bring in better players considering the wages available. As good as Conti is, he cant give Walcott a brain, or teach Welbeck to how to score goals.

  87. Wallace

“Not a single person with a shred of intellect. Squad players – perhaps some of them. But first team – of a top club. No.”

they’re all internationals, qna. so they’ve got the national set-up hoodwinked as well as Wenger.

  88. tunnygriffboy

We don’t half do our players diservice. If they were as bad as they were made out we’d be languishing in mid table. Obviously they must be pretty good as they get no help from the manager.

It’s sometimes depressing to hear our own fans denigrate our own players while praising the player of the moment at other clubs.

You can always upgrade players but to look to replace alot of our shit players would cost a hell of a lot of money to get better than them

Compared to the majority o clubs we bring through more young players than most.

As for the young left back, he’s a punt. How can any of us know what the future holds for him. Just see how it goes without combusting over it.

  89. qna

Wallace: so why doesn’t every team spend 300m on some excellent players?

Because other teams dont have 250m in the bank. I never asked us to do what wasn’t within our means. For example, if we had gone hard for Dybala like Palermo were begging us to do and blew Juve away in terms of offered wages we would have a player that cost 30m and who Madrid or Barca will pay 120m for in the next 1 or 2 years. Plenty of other examples that I have suggested, while rejecting players that were not good enough like Schniederlin and Vardy. There is no mystery at the top level. Everyone top club knows who the really good players are, which is why there is competition for them and they sell at market high prices.

  90. tunnygriffboy

    Wallace

It’s becoming harder and harder to come on here. We have problems at the club but so much is exaggerated here. Iadmire you for sticking at it but you are the lone voice of dissent now. Everyone else has been battered into submission :) Stick at it :)

  91. qna

Wallace: they’re all internationals, qna. so they’ve got the national set-up hoodwinked as well as Wenger.

Again. Idiot. We are talking about players that are good enough to go into the top 8-10 clubs in the world. So your basing eligibility if they are able to make the NT of 100+ countries? Just think about that – if Ramsey is good enough, then should we also have any of the other 10 starting players that aren’t already wanted by Real Madrid? Lets sign Joe Allen shall we.

  92. tunnygriffboy

    Qna

All of those players on the list would be capable of being good squad players in top teams. I’d add that a few of them could start for those teams. They aren’t anywhere near as poor as you make them out.

  93. qna

Tunny: So we were in Dybala and Palermo were begging us to buy him even though he had stated his desire to move to Juve ?

Palermo owner was publicly trying to get us in bidding war with Juve. Dybala wanted Juve that is for sure. But signed on really low wages – like 40k euros a week. If the kid doesnt want to come, then he wont come, but I were in charge I would have sold Theo Walcott in a heartbeat and offered him Theos wages which is triple what Juve are paying him. Fair play to the boy if he turns that down.

But we didnt, and the rest is history. But Dybala is just one of a long, long line of missed opportunities.

  94. qna

Tunny: All of those players on the list would be capable of being good squad players in top teams. I’d add that a few of them could start for those teams. They aren’t anywhere near as poor as you make them out.

And that’s what I said: “first team players of a top club”. I suppose you are reading first team as squad as opposed to youth team I guess since we don’t have reserves. But I meant first team as in the starting 11 – all players being fit. I doubt they would even make it into Spurs starting 11 at the moment.

    —–

Same applies. Once you get past the best 1 or 2 players in the ENT, there are none that would make the best teams starting 11. And certainly none of the players that came through Arsenal. At this moment in time I would suggest that there is actually only two English players that would start in a top 10 team – and they both play for Spurs LOL.
