Dear Santa,
It’s, like, what? The 5th year of me writing to you and I feel like either these letters aren’t getting to you, you’re a Spurs fan… or you sir, had something to do with this whole Jimmy Saville thing,
Regardless, it’s starting to grate. So here goes my last ever Christmas wish list for the upcoming year
A striker…
Yeah, we need one. We’ve been so good as well, supporting all the people who have tried and failed to fill the massive boots left by you-know-who. Things haven’t worked out though, have they? I like Olivier Giroud, I think he has a place in our squad, I’m just not sure he’s at the level he needs to be to kick us on in competitions next year. Theo and Gervinho don’t seem to possess superstar talents in the role, so ideally, we’d like to see someone of Premiership quality roll in this January. My preferred choice is Demba Ba. His RRP is £7.5m which is way cheaper than anything else you could get at that quality, so have a think. We’re not asking for the world here Santa.
A contract…
So, we’d like two contracts signed… and we’d like four contract offers withheld.
Who stays…
Sagna – We need to tie this man down to another few years at the club.We keep shifting on experience which means we’re forever in a state of renewal. This French right back has been a fan favourite for years, his deal expires this summer which means we’ll be letting one of the best right backs in Europe walk away for nothing. What a waste eh Santa? In austere times, surely you wouldn’t let this happen?
Theo – Listen, I’m not a fan of him as a loan striker in a 4-3-3. He doesn’t have the control or ability on the ball to make it work. However, we can’t lose another player we’ve waited on for years. I mean seriously, what have we done to deserve this? Get him tied down to a new deal, then we’ll work out what we can do with him from there. We need to stop the rot with players going.
Players free to talk with other sides that can go… Squillaci, Andrey, Frimmers and Fabianski.
Oh f*ck it, I’m bored of this.
Let’s crack into the transfer gossip this dark Christmas eve.
Huntelaar has signed a new deal with Schalke. That’s great news as far as I’m concerned. He’s not top quality and he’d have struggled with us. A great finisher, no doubt, but up to the pace of the Premiership? No way. Dodged bullet.
Another bullet dodged is that of David Villa. Barcelona have denied they’ll be selling him this January.
‘In January we will keep Villa and it is important to remember that Barcelona is a club that habitually does not accept offers for star players in Janaury.’
‘David is a player that brings goals and intensity to the team.’
That move always seemed like a weird one for a number of reasons. He’s been out of action for a number of months. He’s 31 and he’s never played in the Premiership. Surely we can pick up a player more long term than him? I’ve no doubt he’d have scored goals, but bringing in someone and expecting them to hit the ground running in a few months would have been a long shot.
Outside of transfer news, Boutros Boutros of Emirates has come out and stated that the new partnership with Arsenal and his airline will be based on performance.
‘There are certain clauses, from 2015, that we pay them a percentage less if they don’t perform. The Champions League is part of the new contract. It’s just to keep them on their toes.’
‘It’s fair to us and fair to them.’
Sounds logical, but for me, it’s a bit of a negative clause. Shouldn’t they look to reward us for winning trophies? They have a bottomless pit of money, why not offer us £20million for winning the Champions League and £10million for winning the league? Your brand is forever associated with success if a club you’re sponsoring wins one of the major trophies (SHARP, JVC, O2, Crown Paint, Carlsberg). Positive sponsorship… like the major sports brands build into their sport star’s deals.
I have no idea what will happen in January. The fact we’re sitting in third at the moment is probably a cause for concern with regards to bolstering the squad. A number of the news publications are already talking about this team looking really good, so good, Wenger has told them to curb their enthusiasm…
“Suddenly, there are a lot of good things to talk about,”
“But let’s not go overboard.
Quite incredible that anyone would be going overboard, but there you have it. I still don’t think we’ve found a flow to our game. It hasn’t really been there at all this season. If people are going overboard after narrowly beating Wigan and decimating Reading, well, I need to remind you where they both sit in the league. I’d be a whole lot more positive if we made some serious purchases this January. Seasons can be won or lost in January. Considering how weak all the other teams around us seem to be, this is a great opportunity to fuse some grit into the squad. Hopefully Wenger knows this, but if history tells us anything, it’s that he rarely seizes opportunity. I think it was 2008 when he could have signed Anelka and kicked us on in the league, but he ignored the option and the goals dried up. Last year, he could have snapped up Cahill in January. In 2011 he could have snapped up the free scoring Suarez.
Maybe things will be different this January? Or maybe Arsenal fans think the same things every season…
Who knows, it’s Christmas eve, have yourself a great time, even if you’re Buddhist, Jewish or Muslim… if people question your reasons, tell them Jesus said it was ok.

Ohh FFS.
Is the websire playing up yet again??
Post has just disappeared….
Fucking
Cock
Cock-A-Doodle-Do
Merry Crimbo Geoff & Pedders….
Pedroso….
Did you hear from your ‘inside man’ the story that RvP had actually changed his mind at the eleventh hour, but Wenger had decided he wanted him gone?
Well fook me, it’ll be lonely this Christmas….
well reading prove once again my opinion about EPL – everyone can beat anyone – they´ve lost, OK, but they did it in a very very questionable way. this goal was simply irregular. it´s funny that teams who are investing an awful lot of money in different players seem to have a similar problem to us in certain games. I don´t want to say we shouldn´t spend though
the wigan game was awful. one of the worst performances I´ve seen so far. walnut has to play to the wing, he´s awful. he should have scored twice in the second half after perfect assists from the ox; once he didn´t get the ball because he waited and once he´s unmarked 5 yards out … I really hope giroud will play against ncastle otherwise I can see us having problems with walnut
Merry Xmas everyone.
Dear Santa,
All i want for xmas is Wenger out. I know thats impossible because you are not real. Surprise me.
Merry Christmas people! Lets hope for good results and quality signings!!!
Pedro,
“This French right back has been a fan favourite for years, his deal expires this summer”
Do you mean the summer of 2014 ? I could be wrong but I’m sure he has 18 months left on his contract and been offered a 12 month extension ?
Number one on my Xmas list is the fantasist’s resignation.
We are still stuttering along but the teams we are competing with are doing it on a far lower wage bill.
And the news about that Emirates contract is some evidence that sponsors do care about performances. The idea that we can keep on being mediocre and still enjoy commercial success is pure fantasy – bringing me neatly back to our current manager.
Walcott can be replaced. Hence wenger dont give a stuff about the guy. They know they can get better players in at $60k and bit more a week.
Walcott, i have mentioned so many times. Against good organised defences and defenders … he is hopeless. Hopeless not only on the attacking level but gives the team no cover in defence.
OX is much better as he can beat players one on one. But he still need to work on his tactical game. Aganst wigan he was exposed in the second half. Hence Sagna was over worked like made on that wing.
Wigna attacked sagna in the second half through kone ….
Sagna is extremely over rated … he is good but not great. but perhaps over the year he had to cover for useless walcott so … if not he could be a great defender … if he can improve his crosses. at the age of 29 and still cant cross the ball … it is amazing
Merry Christmas all…
Can I just throw this out there for people to react to:
Demba Ba – the new Adebayor in waiting? He’s cheap. He has ability. But he smells a bit of mercenary to me. I know that sounds a little odd given the £ that goes around in football – but still, I just get the feeling he’d want to be at one of the droning ‘Marquee’ clubs ala Madrid/Barca/Milan *yawn* (you know, the ones that won’t play him and make him rot)…
Thoughts?
The last sentence made me laugh, Pedro!
Every player in the world is mercenary !!
Dear Santa,
Could you arrange for Usmanov to buy our club, and then kick out all the self-serving money men from the club………Kroenke, Law, Gazidis and Wenger….
Jesus! If Sagna is extremely over rated wtf are the likes of Jenkinson, Gibbs, and Santos then………..over rated or not he pisses all over all three of those reserve level players.
Sagna is one of the most consistent full backs in Europe. The guy could continue at this level for another 3/4 years easily. If the club let him go it will be yet another sign that we have incompetent oafs at the helm.
Ronaldo reportedly ready to force a mover back to United…and United will support Fergie there I feel.
That would not even be fair. Ronaldo, RVP and Rooney up top….for Fuck Sake.
That’s the difference between Wenger and Fergie, one of the greatest players of his generation having tasted success as his child hood club WANTS to come back home.
Rather different to us, ours bugger off and are glad for the trophies.
United can not get Ronaldo again. They would be a holding middle player and a CB from being utterly world class.
Kwik – When it comes to Wenger, Gazidis & Law 8-£10m banked with Jenkinson as first choice plus some faceless teenager as backup to him will do nicely….
Cute, but the reality is that Arsenal will not sign anyone in the January window. Why should they? Afterall, they are winning again and Wenger is once again gloating at how great things are going and his project youth is moving along just swimingly. Why in fact, he’s now espousing how his defense is improving again – even though they had two major brain cramps against a very poor Reading side mid-week. Same old same same at Arsenal.
- Walcott will not sign – Wenger will lament the betrayal of it all
- He will not sign Sagna – Will state that it time for Jenkinson cause afterall, we just signed him long term
- He will not activate the release clause for Demba Ba – cause that would actually be a smart thing to do, but not original – which you can never accuse Wenger of being
- Diaby will be back again in the near future – Wenger will harp that this is as good as a signing (yet again)
Lets face it, he will ride his luck out with this squad, same as he always does.
The difference this time is that this club will achieve nothing better than 6th place and perhaps a spot in the Europa League next year, which Wenger will now declare is his next attainable trophy – 6th place!
No wonder some diehards are leaving – how many times can someone be played for a fool by a bigger fool (Wenger) and stick around?
Whatever is all that I have to say about Wenger.
Even if Santa is a 5pur2 fan he should at least grant my little wish of wenger retiring or wenger sacked, that is all i ask
Merry Xmas Geoff & Pedro (& DDM)
……….& Kwiky
DDM
I actually think it would be better for Jenks in the long run to be understudy to Sags for a few years before taking over as Number one.
Some players are thrown in too early. Much better to learn their trade from an old pro.
gnarleygeorge9
Season greetings my old mucker ! I suppose you have the beers out and the barbie on
Eeeeh-Ooooop Gnarley….
Long time fella…
Merry Crimbo to you and yours….
Kwik, agreed.
But this shameless fucking mob love a £
Will swap Falcao with Ibrahimovic, otherwise I agree with the list

Apparently Giroud was ‘sick’ and couldn’t take part in the game at wigan…..Yeah sure he was
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/A-4NeBrCUAA5Dvh.jpg
Walcott not a good CF for AFC is a foregone conclusion BUT…
We need to renew his contract so we can sell him properly and making some money (or getting some back); how could a plc so obsessed with finance let a quite saleable player walk??
Wenger get the fuck out of AFC
Pedro, haven’t you bumped into Pam, the tea lady, lately? It’s Xmas/ wishlist time…
It would be nice to see Wenger just realise our deficiencies in the squad and perhaps go about resolving them. Signing a free scoring centre forward and a tough tackling midfielder to sit in front of the back four would make a world of difference at both ends.
Radio Raheem
No Cesc in there such a shame.
Merry Christmas all.
Dear Santa, all I want for xmas is for the following to be sold .
Denilson
Chamakh
Bendtner
Squiliachi
And the rest of the dross.
And I would like the following personnel in.
Usmanov
Keeper
Bains
Yanga-Mbiwa
Striker
Kushagra,
I know, right? I think he might have made it if he was still at Arsenal. His talent is marginalised by the other chaps at barca. They make him look ordinary.
Ddm, I haven’t asked direct, but Pam has never mentioned it to me.
I highly doubt it anyway. He burned his bridges on purpose… He knew he’d only get one chance to go to united and he took it
In think the story is a plant… I’ve no doubt the guy peddling it was told that, however, he’s pro Wenger in a big way…. so could be agendarised.
Poor performance but we got the result so we have Wenger saying we need to keep grounded.
Keep grounded? Over a sh8t performance against Wigan?
The team is well and truly ferked if they are so high after beating Wigan that Wenger is imploring them to stay “grounded”.
LOL Geezus
Tits,
Even the slightest little run or win gives Wenger and his AKB followers a hard on. This has been our pattern of results in the league so far this season:
D D W W D L W W W L D W D D L W W W
We have only won 8 out of 18 games. It doesn’t take a lot of intelligence to see that we are going to repeat these mini-cycles all the way to May. We could end up 4th but what is certain is that we won’t win anything of note.
The only possibility is the FA cup but I don’t hold out much hope because we have a very bad track record of bottling crunch games and no doubt we will bottle that as well.
Sorry, can’t count. We have won 9 games out of 18.
You can count, you just can’t read.
..typical AKB
We’ve won 8, lost 4, you need an extra L.

LMFAO. One of your best opening ever.
According to(Canal+)TV reporter, Demba Ba will be announced as an Arsenal player on Jan.1st.
From some random fucker of tweeter….Get In!!!!!
Love The Burbs.
About yesterday’s conversation, I think people got themselves a little confused, all it was about was whether Wenger had complete control over everything, players, contracts and wages, when it’s generally been accepte that when Dein was around he and the board dealt with that side or at the very least were consulted and signed off on it.
Wenger wanted to keep Cole, and in Summer of 2004 negotiations began. Between Dein, the board and Coles Agent.
“It all started while I was sitting in the sunshine at Sopwell House, the hotel in Hertfordshire used by England before we flew out to Portugal for Euro 2004, when an eager voice called out, “Ashley!” Mr Dein was stood there. He told me I wasn’t earning enough and my salary was going to be increased. My face- cracking smile told him all he needed to know. I was buzzing, really buzzing. His tone soon wiped the smile from my face. I felt his attitude suggested he was doing me a favour, like I was a 17-year-old trainee.
The deal he offered was a £10,000-a-week increase to £35,000. A hell of a lot of money. But, when taken in the context of football wages and his own estimated value of me of £20 million, and when placed next to those other Arsenal wages of between £80,000 and £100,000 a week, his offer was a piss-take. It was a slap in the face, not a pat on the back.”
By January 2005 Dein and the board had upped it to 55k, there was some confusion over who was to pay Agent’s fees and Cole was upset that 60k wasn’t matched.
“Ash! Are you listening?” said a virtually hyperventilating Jonathan. “I’m here in the office and David Dein is saying they aren’t going to give you £60k a week. They’ve agreed £55k and this is their best and final offer. Are you happy with that?”
When I heard Jonathan (Barnett) repeat the figure of £55k, I nearly swerved off the road. “He is taking the piss, Jonathan!” I yelled down the phone. I was so incensed. I was trembling with anger. I couldn’t believe what I’d heard. I suppose it all started to fall apart for me from then on. I’d trusted Mr Dein to push the deal through.”
In January Cole also supposedly met with Mourinho, Kenyon whoever the tapping up affair began
Enquiries and sanctions where brought.
In June 2005 Cole actually signed a years’ extension to his contract, taking it up to 2008.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/4690333.stm
He was sold at the end of the next season, on the last day of the summer transfer window, August 2006, if Wenger wanted him sold it was after 2 years, sanctions by the FA against Chelsea, and a one year contract extension to his then ‘present’ deal.
All I found about Vieira was this.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/4609211.stm
Kwik fit – Pace yourself mate, unless it happens exactly on the 1st, we’ve got a massive month of links, contact, denials and disappointment to get through.
Kwik,
Hope so. We definitely need something a bit better up front than what we have. I won’t raise my hopes too much though because I know how these things normally pan out. We express an interet then someone else expresses an iterest, we lose.
This is the week guys, that Wenger should be working like fuck (aka Santa Claus) to get these deals done before 1 January. He’s probably however sitting on his thin ass eating mince pies.
Kwik,
Is “eating mince pies” a euphemism?
http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892/transfer-zone/2012/12/24/3625169/arshavin-close-to-sealing-4m-reading-move
Also found out that Santa is a spud…i’ll be posting links soon…
Yes Jeff it is but I can’t explain it cos I’m much too polite and I’m an AKB
AAC 10:52:43
I could not have said it better, well done.
The Oscar for blatent honesty hands down goes to you.
Kwik,
That is just so funny. You are a master of irony. This is one of those occasions where I’m going to write ‘LOL’ and actually mean it.
If they need “grounding” after beating the 18th and 20th place teams then sweet Mary.
As far as strikers is concerned you get the feeling that it’s Ba or nothing(if even that) this transfer window.
The “impressive league form” should be enough for Wenger to spout something to the effect of:
“we are in 4th position in the league with the FA Cup still on the cards, clearly we just had to get the chemistry going”…
“we have finished in the last 16 of the Champions League for _____ years, nobody else has done that”
…and deem us in no need of help.
*shakes head*
Anyone think that next year Chelsea will have Mourinho back in charge. Jose has been plotting his escape all season.
Good post pedro
Huntelaar would not of been the right choice for us any way.we need a striker that is ready now,a guy that’s already got premiership experience.
Demba Ba is for us and the manager should do all he can to sign this lad.
My Xmas list would be
Felaini and baines From Everton, they are a bit skint and Everton could do with the money.
Fuck it we should also go in Reina.e could do with some experience.
But my biggest wish is a new manager.
Merry Christmas to all you gooners and your families.
Pedro a post full of Christmas cheer
Any news on TH14? Hopefully not.
Keyser
That was yesterday’s discussion today is another day.
Merry Christmas to everyone.
Merry Xmas to all the wonderful dudes and babes on this site. Have a wank of a time and forget the woes of afc till 29th.
Zeus
I can’t see it. I can see him at United at some point. Chelsea is still an unstable place for managers and they just won the CL so not much point in him going there. Plus Terry is probably lining himself up for the managers job in a few years, so no doubt he’ll be plotting to bring down the next manager.
Wishing ALL a Merry Christmas- even Wenger / Kroenke, who will hopefully make my New Year’s wish come true (that they fuck off and let Arsenal breathe again).
Roll on hang over / pressies tomorrow and then the 29th.
I don’t know why everyone is getting excited about Ba. OK he would be a good option to have, especially at that price but he play’s in a 4-4-2 and we don’t. Can he play as the lone striker?
He can be very inconsistent and at times struggled to get in the Newcastle team. His stats are OK but If were persisting with one up top we need more.
We should stick with Giroud and Theo until the end of the season and really open up the check book. This season is a wash and Ba will not change that. Our only cup will be the Wenger cup (4th place) and Arsenal will not spend money on another striker come the end of the season. The start of what ‘should’ be a new financial era for us.
Ba stats:
11/12 Starts = 34 Sub = 2 Goals = 16 Assist = 2
12/13 Starts = 18 Sub = 2 Goals = 11 Assist = 0
11 goals in 17 Prem starts Marx…
27 in 55 starts over the past 18 months.
baby all i want for christmas… is 4-4-2!!!
Merry Christmas to everyone on Le Grove.
A one in two striker Is good but he’s been playing with a second striker and has a poor assist record.
Cisse had 13 in 13 last year then plummeted this season.
Theo has Starts = 10 Goals = 11 Assists = 7 Albeit in all comps.
If we sign Ba, Theo will be off for free at the end of the season. I would promise Theo everything he wanted then sell him. Add the Ba money and about 10 mil more and you have a Cavani priced player.
And to you EL Tel
And your family say hello from me
Plummeted to 11 in 17?
This is a pretty poor argument.
Merry Christmas El Tel!
Who plummeted to 11 in 17?
I said Cisse had 13 in 13 then plummeted. Pointing out that a purple patch of 11 in 17 does not always mean 22 in 34.
He’s also been courting the media for a move. That helped Theo’s performance so why not Ba’s.
Marx
Mate Ba is better than we have got at the moment,he might not be RVP but we could do with him,at 7.5 million he’s worth a punt.
I’d take him over Giroud,Walcott,Arshavin in a heart beat.
Like a few Xmas gifts in the morning, not exactly what you wanted but you will use it.
Our coaches might be able to extract more from the lad than Newcastle have.
He’s premiership proven just what we need right now,and he ain’t cup tied.
Arsenalone
I do agree with you. But my concern is I don’t see us doing any better then 4th playing Ba up top on his own, this or any other season.
We have money coming our way and we will never have more than 2 strikers at any one time. So If we buy Ba now that’s likely to be It for at least 3 years.
Also he’s a player that needs to be motivated and that’s something we struggle with.
I’d take Llorente over Ba.
Lorente/Ba
Ayew/Nene/Ben Arfa
Fellaini/Capoune/M’Vila
And maybe someone to take some pressure off Cazorla?
Isco/Cabaye or similar.
Samir
Fuck me mate you don’t want much, that’s a complete new team, cough cough
Probley what we need ATM.
Llorente on a free at the end of the season.
Sissoko on a free st the end of the season.
Isco for £20m
Sell some of the dross to pay their wages and that still leaves money for a GK, LB, CB.
I love when people suggest we buy sissoko. There are like fucking 9 of them we’ve been linked to in 3 years!!
How funny was it to see vanpursestrings “nearly killed” according to old red nose,
lmfao!!
Samir do you not think Llorente is to much like giroud?
Cant believe we missed Gary Cahill. Those are the kind of englishmen we need to sign up.
scott q and Luke
I would love to have a chat with you but I’m rushing around getting ready to go out and grab myself a desperate xmas fat bird…lol

Huntelaar has bagged 58 goals in his last 68 Bundesliga games for Schalke.
The guy is top draw and the Bundesliga is producing great European teams.
Happy Christmas to all my fellow Grovers and Pedro and Geoff.
Let’s hope the club gives us a New Year (especially a January) to remember.
Hopefully some late Christmas present in M’Vila, Ba, Diame and Isco say?

Happy Xmas Gooners… Well done Pedro for the work gone into this blog, and for the tolerance in the comments section.

A bit sad to approach the end of the year to see Gooners fighting each other but the battle must be fought nevertheless. In the end the family will re-unite and the few extremists will continue to exist in their tiny little world when the rest of the Gooner family moves on.
Merry Chimborazo Pedro Geoff and all on here.
Good post as usual Pedro I can’t see old miser Wenger breaking a habit of a lifetime and singing or spending on anyone big.
Expect a 8-10 m player linked with 20 we tried so hard to get and lastly the prodigal son on loan yep 37 yr old Henry FFs!!
Signing*. He may be singing lol
Oh and thank you to Bob Crow for ruining everyone’s Boxing Day!!!!!!!
Hahaha Taarabt talking about two moves down the line! Plonker… Or is he?

This is the modern footballer. It’s a career. Fellow the yellow brick road. Pick up maximum cash along the way and always move to the biggest club who can pay you the biggest wonga.
Is he a dick or just speaking the truth? How many of these do we have at Arsenal? how many would come here and jump to a ‘bigger’ club!
Wengers mistake is that he thinks he can defeat this mindset. Impossible,
“- – - – - – - – - -, but it don’t sing and dance and it don’t walk…”.
Fill in the blanks Arsene!
Scott:
Crow is indeed one of life’s vermin, but how come the whole of London will be open tomorrow, but we can’t keep a game from going ahead,
Interesting, the club are still opening the shop at the ground.
Good point double.
Merry Chrismas again all. Hope your keeping your tanks full with good spirit!
Arsenal is going through hard times, but we will come out in a much stronger position from 2013/14. Of course Wenger and the rest of the club has fooled us for the last years, because they had to. How stupid would it be to show the rest of the footballworld excactly how weak our hand have been? Realisticly we have not had the chance to win PL or CL because of our financial position. But that changes now and its about time ALL Arsenalsupporters stay united behind the club and SUPPORT how we do things.
Please don’t put me in to one of those stupid AAA or AKB baskets.
I’m proud to belong to the AFC -supporter category that also supports Squilacci if he comes off the bench.
