Well maybe after tonight beak face you’ll wish you did play for Arsenal!

by & filed under Match Preview.

What a boat

Ibrahimovic delights in telling the world that he turned down a move to Arsenal once, really? I heard he refused to take a trial, a bit different, if we signed every player that thought he was too good for that we would be in big trouble.

I heard that he was turned down because he was so ugly and the board thought that he would turn the crowds away with his disgustingness. And that my friends is an exclusive Geoff of Le-Grove fact.

Tonight is the time for this team to stand up and be counted, we proved we can come back, we did that against the chavs, the spuds and Villa in the FA Cup, we proved we can win ugly and against a very ugly side Liverpool, look no further than Bellamy, Carrol, Suarez the racist and Kuyt for that, boy they are ugly.

Now we need to score 5 goals against an even uglier side, with the worlds ugliest footballer leading their geriatric line which is also ugly.

Tonight we need our scoring boots on and this is the team I would put out, injuries permitting to do the job.

Chezzer

Sagna Koscielny Vermaelen Gibbs

Song Rosicky

Oxo Robin Theo Gervinho

That would be my team tonight, if Theo can’t cut the mustard in the middle then bring on Bennayoun.

I would hand Theo this chance because I believe this could be his moment, if he doesn’t step up, I will throw him to the wolves. I may even have been tempted to shove Chamakh in there for his presence but I have lost all confidence in him.

We need to go at them from the off, the crowd need to do their part and the club needs to let them stand, the first 7 minutes of the ECL semi final against the Mancs when the club put the flags on the seats were the noisiest and happiest of my life, then disaster, but tonight we aren’t playing them, we are playing an over the hill Milan, led by the ugliest footballer since Luke Chadwick.

His mum said to him ‘son, the only way you’ll ever get laid is if you become a footballer, otherwise you’ll be very lonely’ That’s why he practised so much as a kid.

So Arsene, pin this on the wall tonight, avenge me Simba! Go out and take those arrogant eye ties apart and score six. You can do it, the whole good part of North London will be willing it, the best part of the world will be willing and God will be willing it because he loves great football and hates big heads, and I know, I heard voices last night.

Avenge me Simba by the way was from the Lion King, no relevance, I just like the avenging bit, so go with it.

Have a great day Grovers, I have a feeling, I really do, but we must all believe.

Our backline is only good when teams play the ball on the ground, this backline would suffer away to stoke

  2. gambon

Perfect club, perfect manager FOR HIM.

However Arsenal FC is more important than Alex Chamberlain.

You can see whats coming. Wenger will play him 150 times in the next 3 years, and he will develop into a top player, but he will be physically shot, and we will suffer due to his lack of end product / inconsistency along the way.

He should be backup to 2 top wide players, like Hazard & Podolski, until he is obviously better than them

  3. Gunner2301

    Gambon

I think Ox is a different case. I don’t see him as one who is diminishing the effectiveness of the team by his presence. that’s what we;ve seen with Walcott for years and Ramsey to an extent. Ox is already years ahead of Walcott. I agree he must be managed properly to protect him from injury but he is a key player for us and when he plays he makes things happen.

Can we afford not to play a player like that? Especially if it’s Wengers intention not to buy for that position? I would rather Ox was played there because you know Song is hankering after a role further forward and that would be a disaster if it were to happen.

  4. ritesh

Thats all I want from my team. I dont even mind if they lose as long as they give their all.

In the end there has to be a winner in sports and sometimes its us, sometimes we lose.

  5. Keyser

Podolski’s not a top wide player, and Hazard’s another kid, Ox is probably better adapted to the Premiership right now anyway.

  6. Deejaycee17

8 years without a trophy to show for his £7m a season…yes £7m you heard it right!!!
Only at this club would anyone be rewarded so well for mediocrity!!!
    In Arsene we rust…Wenger OUT!!!

  7. Mark gooner

Great performance. Last 3 games been huge turnaround.
3rd spot is what it’s about now and finishing above those rats

    Oxo superstar already
Name a better centre half in prem league then koscielny, I wouldn’t swap him for anyone I can think of
There are still cunts on here who call him shit believe it or not
chamakh is a dog and needs putting down

  8. David

    Benjamin

Our backline had a horrid time against pool.

Funnily enough we calmed things down once Carroll was introduced into the game.

  9. Gunner2301

I would liken Ox to Rooney and Wilshire (not to Walcott, Ramsey, Gibbs, Jenkinson) there are not many players that can just come into a team and be effective and look like a near established player. These kind of players you can’t hold back you have to let them play but protect them from injury.

It might be that we’re not the best Club to do that because we like to rinse out young players but that doesn’t take away from the fact that Ox should be starting half our games.

  10. Radio Raheem

I only caught the last 30mins of the match. By the sounds of things Chamberlain was man of the match?

He is in the ‘Rooney grade’ of talent and should play as much as his body will let him. Players like Ryo, Theo, Ramsey are the ones that need blooding.

By the way, Ryo seems to be doing a Wilshere at Bolton.

Bring on next season…the cycle continues :)

  11. Deejaycee17

Oh and btw we’ve all laughted at the Spuds, Chavski and the Scousers in recent week…Liverpool have a trophy in the bag and are still in the FA Cup, the Chavs are still in the Champs League and FA Cup even without a manager. And even the yids are still in the FA Cup so you tell me who the losers are?!?!
    Wenger OUT!!!

  12. HendonGooner

    Heroic FAILURE!
The usual suspects let the team down once AGAIN!

Walcott was gash AGAIN! Gervinho anonymous and ineffective – another Chamkh in the making. Park and Chamakh not good enough.
When the Ox went off – all our creativity disappeared.

Once again Arsenal tantalise but fail to achieve.

Now to crack on – and concentrate on getting 3rd place.

Wenger – either fcuks off in the summer or actually goes out and spends the money to bring in the quality we desperately need.
Offload the usual dross that are sucking up the wages they don’t deserve.

Groundhog season has dawned once again.

  13. Gunner2301

    Mark

Kos has come on leaps and bounds but I’d take Kompany over him just in response to your question but not many others. I have a feeling that Kos and TV are not the best partnership for all situations. I think I’d rather see one of them play alongside someone else. That leaves Per and I’m not enhammered about him but someone of his ilk but better.

  14. Mark gooner

We need a creative midfielder and a back up for rvp
Goetze with Wilshere in the middle would be top draw
Also a dominant DM who can replace or challenge Song
Oxo theo gervinho and miyaichi combined offer us fantastic options wide for next year
Selling the shit from our squad would fund moves for the likes of Gotze Cavani Mvilla. It’s just whether wenger will do it

  15. Radio Raheem

I hope that just like how our bad form towards the end of last season flowed into the new season, our good form in finishing this season continues into next season.

On that note it’s a bueno noches from me

  16. Gunner2301

    Radio

Great minds :) I’d like to see Ryo get a chance next season. It maybe we don’t need a player like Hazard if he develops well. I’d like to see more of LeCoq too had he not got injured I’d have trusted him to take over Songs position. I feel as a defensive player he is better than Song, is learning the art better, is more composed and has better positional awareness.

  17. Mark gooner

    Benjamin

    Cahill. No chance overrated shit
    Ferdinand is finished

Komoany and vidic on their day are top class. Forgot about vidic as he such a crock nowadays

King. Not anymore finished slow. Look how he was raped at emirates

  18. Gunner2301

I’d say Kos is looking better than TV by a shade since he was cast out at LB he hasn’t looked the same player. For me they are too similar.

  19. gambon

    Keyser

Podolski is a left sided forward, on the left of a 4-3-3 is EXACTLY his position. He is the perfect age, he has 300 career games, 95 caps, and has 16 goals in 20 this season.

Hazard is the best young player in Europe. He is improving yearly, and can do everything. He scored, creates, takes free kicks and runs teams ragged. He has 4 full seasons and 28 games behind him, and is about to win player of the year in France for the second year running. He has 13 goals in 37 this year.

You really wanna compare an 18 year rold rookie, with 4 goals and 1 assist, to these guys.

    Embarrassing, and oh so predictable.

  20. gambon

    Vermaelen is better than Kos.

They look similar for long periods but Kos is a fuck up waiting to happen. Until that changes he should be Vermaelens understudy.

Vermaelen needs to be told that hes a defender, and stop careering forward always.

Put him alongside a top class, dominant CB, who has Merte as backup.

Verm & new CB as first choice.

    Kos & Mertesacker as backup.

Thats just one of MANY changes we need to make throughout the club/team.

  21. Brendan.Arsenal

Anyone else starting to feel that Koscielny is a giant, and Verm-alien is starting to look a little dodgy as he runs forward trying for goal glory?

  22. albo

Well, my heart was of course desperate for the 4th and 5th, but my head tells me that this might be best for us. I just don’t feel we have the squad to push for 3rd AND to have competed in 2 legged quarters/semis.

The danger was that the most likely outcome would have been that we drop out later in the competition AND drop 6 points in the 2 games around the tie.

Great work by the lads today, and awesome support from the Emirates. Hopefully this can be yet another building block on the way to St Totteringhams day…

  23. Dan Ahern

I’m gonna stick up for Theo for a change. He was alive, quite dangerous at times, and ran back to cover for Sagna a lot. I thought he was a little lacking in movement/intelligence while we were in possession in their half. But overall actually did better than Gervinho for a change.

What killed us was he had to go off, Ox had to go off, and there was absolutely NOBODY capable of coming on for that final push.

Chamakh and Park? Those are not the players you want in a clutch situation. Or any situation.

And you can say Arsene’s a fool for selling Arshavin, but you can’t guarantee he’d have won it for us. He’s been a slouch most of his minutes on the pitch, it could’ve easily been another huge disappointment.

Either way, we need some quality in desperately. We’ve shown we’re capable of being a tough, hard-working squad, but the consistency isn’t there. We only have enough quality to show up some of the time.

  24. LJB

As soon as the Ox got injured we looked impotent.Chamakh and Park are beyond useless; Wenger has filled this squad with so much dross it will take years to sort out.The fact that an 18 yr old with barely a handful of top flight games under his belt was our best player just illustrates how badly Wenger has mismanaged Arsenal Football club. I see the akb’s are blaming the ref AGAIN; the reason we lost this tie was Wengers complete lack of tactics in Milan and the shit players he keeps buying, not the referee. It looks like we are going to be stuck with him for the foreseeable future,oh joy better make it 10 yrs without silverwear then. Some muppet on another blog said Wenger should be given anther 8 yrs!!!! God he looks 90 now,he really is an embarassment.(as a lady i can tell you boys that i find wenger physically repulsive,if he was doing his job properly he could look like Tevez for all i care, but he’s not ,so Pep or Klopp please!!) Oh who will rid us of this troublesome frenchman?

  25. gambon

    Dan

Wenger didnt sell Arshavin, thats the problem.

No one would have minded if we had sold and replaced him, but who benefits from this deal?

Well, only Zenit & AA himself. Yet another example of wenger not caring about AFC….much like selling off our best players so they can achieve their ambitions, and pushing for a cheap sale for Cesc rather than deny him his dream move.

  26. JOPPAAAAAAAA

Been reading through the comments on and off tonight but can someone tell me this please?

Why the fck is nobody questioning Wenger’s tactics/approach to the first leg? It’s all very well going on about how proud you are tonight of the performance but what it the fkin point if through an inept manager we lost the first leg 4-0!

Fck me guys can someone answer this? Keyser, you have an answer for everything, perhaps you can tell me.

    I blame Wenger totally.

  27. Keyser

gambon don’t pull the mong routine all the time, you might be able to bullshit your way around most of the time, but at somepoint it catches up with you.

Podolski is a poor mans Van Persie, you called him a top wide player you pleb, he’s simply not, he’s like Van Persie in that position he’ll do what he can, but looks a bit wasted.

Van Persie’s adapted as the fighurehead of the front 3, Podolski’s still working out what’s best for him.

You constantly go on about how shite Ligue 1 is and now all of a sudden it means Hazard’s the best young player in Europe.

Both will have to adapt to a far more physical and intense league and right now considering the OX actually looks built like one he’s more suited, it doesn’t mean Hazard won’t adapt or he won’t be better, but it’s typical of the bullshit that you filter out that you ignore this.

Likewise with Koscielny, I’m sure if you hadn’t put your fat ego on the line, you might be more appreciative of his efforts, seriously it doesn’t matter mate, it’s not like either of us really know much about football, just let it go.

  28. gambon

    Well Keyser

    You certainly dont know much

You tell all on here that all of our players are perfect, the manager is perfect, and basically dismiss EVERY player in europe.

Yet we havent won a trophy for 8 seasons, and are getting NO CLOSER to one.

So you my fat friend, couldnt be more wrong.

  29. Keyser

Joppaa – Mate, come on, fucking think for yourself for once, I can’t hold your hand on everything.

What was wrong with the tactics in the first leg ? I could tell you my opinion, but what’s yours to begin with ?!

  30. Dan Ahern

    gambon – True and false.

True: Wenger should have sold him. However, he isn’t capable of doing a deal that isn’t last-minute, so he waited till the end of the Russian window, outside of England’s. Sigh.

False: Asserting only Zenit and AA benefit from his loan. Arshavin was on a criminally bad run of form for a long time, and he’s getting up there in age. The only chance to boost his value for a sale was playing time, which he wasn’t going to get at Arsenal. Now he’ll get a chance to increase his price for us.

  31. Keyser

gambon – Heh, seriously let it go obby, it’s like you’re purposefully ignoring what I’ve written.

You want Wenger to stop buying french kids from Ligue 1, but want him to buy a Belgian kid who can speak French from Ligue 1, it’s embarrassing now.

Hazard’s got a lot of potential, he’s more advanced than the Ox in his own league, still will need to adapt to ours, is that too fucking fat for you to understand fatty boom boom.

  32. gambon

Well, there you go Keyser, shows youre a retard.

If we were to Hazard this summer he will be 21.5 years old, 2 times french player of the year (and 2 x young player previously), 200 club games and 30 caps, and already doing what Nasri, Gourcuff, Sessegnon could only dream about, even in ligue 1.

4 full seasons under his belt, 3 of them as pretty much the best player in the division. Hes way more advanced than Zidane at 21, let alone anyone else.

How the fuck is that a kid?

  33. gambon

    Dan

I saw park coming on earlier, did you?

Would you have preferred Arshavin? I know I would.

Im sure the extra £1m we get for him will be better than a CL quarter final.

  34. Gunner2301

    Joppa

What tactics? When a manager doesn’t do video analysis of the opposition as part of preparation and just tells his team to go out and play their game then you can only go so far.

Wenger was forced to play the players he played and the way he played them tonight due to injury and the deficit so the situation forced his hand. Without tactics and knowing how to defend as a team we;re not going to win anything. We might come close but we’ll always be the nearly men.

    WENGER OUT!

  35. JOPPAAAAAAAA

Keyser, In the first leg personally I would have upped the tempo from the off and played Ox. The fact that they were scared to the extent of fcking the pitch up on the wings told us that our pace with Theo / Ox frightened the fck out of them should of had Wenger rubbing his hands together.

What did we see instead? A team with no shape, passion or balance. But you will argue all day long this wasn’t the case. Been supporting for almost 30 years and that 4-0 defeat against Milan is up there with the worst given the players we have and just how average that Milan side is!

I don’t want you to hold my hand, I want you to admit Wenger lost us the game in the first leg. Disgusting you defend that.

  36. incesc

i have to say modern football is fucked up

fair play to milan, over 2 legs they deserved to win and i’d like them to go on and win it over other clubs like madrid, barce and in other years citeh and chelsea,

we are run well, but now is the time to start proving that and stop acting like the world owes us a living.

  37. Keyser

gambon – This is pathetic, have you become soo fat now that one of your man moobs has developed into a sentient being who thinks independtly from your other breast and you the real gamboni ?!

He’s a kid, because he’s 20-21, because you moan on here repeatedly how Ligue 1 shit, how Fabregas shouldn’t have played soo many games soo young, how we should buy proven World Class talent from a proper league, because as of now he hasn’t played one minute of one game in the Premiership, because he’s about the size of one of the verucas on your wanking hand.

  38. Keyser

Joppaa – Go back and read my comments, you’re talking complete shit now, I’ve basically said it was lost in the first leg.

Then go learn something about tactics, balance, stratedgy and so on, watch both games and then try to work out what was different in this game ?!

Then look at the players comments and how embarrassed they were, think about it we lost away 4-0 we won at home 3-0, are you going to give Wenger credit for the second leg or truly think about what happened.

My opinion, Milan knew exactly how to play us on their own patch, with such a shit pitch, they pushed it long and forward quick and broke on us at pace, they got lucky that Chesney put out a shit clearance and scored some decent goals after that, they made sure it was as difficult as possible to pass through midfield and our players struggled to play their game.

We should have mirrored them, but then you can’t ignore that the first goal was from a pathetic Chesney clearance.

  39. incesc

massively worried though about how tired we always are.

i think a unit of well drilled players would never get as exhausted as we are.

the walcott injury was down to a match winning foul by van bommel. annoying but you could say professional…

    we lack that

  40. JOPPAAAAAAAA

Certainly not giving Wenger credit for his H/T pep talk!

Still one of my fav tweets of the season from a past match:

After the 3-2 win in the FA Cup (you know the one we pathetically went out of Keyser?) against Villa.

“Wenger went into the wrong dressing room at H/T”.

    Brilliant.

You talk some bollocks Keyser. Always making excuses. Utter shite.

  41. David

I dont agree that we are a well run club.

Giving out lavish contracts to mediocre players puts us at a strenuous position where we are barely breaking even.

We only make profits when we sell players.

    This is a fact.

Now ask yourselves how the fook that is self sustainable!?

  42. Brendan.Arsenal

The trouble is – if you disagree directly with Pedro, Geoff, or Gambon – they ban you from the site. And they say it’s a site where “you can have an opinon, not get one”. Bigger liars than Wenger. They are the Wenger’s of the bloggosphere. Where else are people’s favourite sites, without the arrogant censorship? (did anyone notice the other day – Gambon casually asking for someone to be banned because they disagreed with his opinions? As if that is the measure).

    Awful, awful, awful.

  43. Keyser

Joppaa – Mate, it seems like you don’t really have a clue what you’re on about, you go on and on about tactics but don’t actually understand what the word means.

So if Wenger got his tactics wrong in the first leg, did he get them right in the second ?!

  44. incesc

    agree with keyser

the tie was lost because we got out played on every level in the first leg.

arsenal football club needs players like van persie in 3 or 4 positions on the pitch who know how to influence game. Kocielny, surpringly for me has that in him. I think he is a very clever player despite last season.

midfield is a gaping hole though. Alex Song will never have the brains to be 2 steps infront of the play and influence the game at the top level.

  45. Keyser

incesc – I think we’re a bit all over the place this year, for years people said we were a one man team with Fabregas and how everything revolved around him, I think it’s just left a massive vaccuum in the middle and we’re getting dizzy from it.

Like the two Milan games, an accurate reflection of how well we did was the aggregate score, you couldn’t take either game and sum up our season, the team right now is bi-polar.

It either struggles to get things going as a unit, and we look disjointed as a result losing 4-0, and then we run ourselves into the ground trying to make up the difference.

  46. JOPPAAAAAAAA

Not just tactics Keyser, Where was the passion, the desire, the hunger.? That Milan side isn’t 4 goals better than us? Could you see a Fergie or Mourinho team ever laying down so meekly? Answer me that.

I don’t understand how some weeks we can look really up for it and others not bothered? Is it just the type of opposition? But we got about Milan tonight. What I am saying is with Wenger’s experience and knowledge we should be seeing off a Milan side (which I dont rate) which will no doubt be knocked out in the next round.

Where was the pressing, the pressure, the desire? Sometimes it seems all too comfortable. Yes the players owe Wenger more but why isn’t he getting it out of them so many times this season?

  47. incesc

We have the ability to put 3 past milan in a half when we are firing but we dont have the know how and experience to put one past them when we arent.

we need to get some experienced performers in there this summer

id even say fuck Hazard and Goetze

we have oxlade and chamberlaine, we want a robben and a sneidjer or a younger van bommel.

  48. Keyser

incesc – We need specific players for specific games, you know they talk about Pedigree it just seems to come naturally for them, they roll around when they have to a pull of the shirt a sly kick, maybe it’s a sterotypical Italian thing.

But we needed someone like Wilshere or Arteta, Benayoun, even Ramsey who struggled in the first leg would have been ok.

We’re going to need to buy another one of those players in the summer, whether it’s Hazard, Geotze or whoever.

  49. zeus

    Gambon

    Hazard or Goetze?

I was saying that long term, Wenger wanted the AM position that Cesc adapted to so well, to be inherited by Wilshere. Personally think jack plays better from deep, though at youth level, he was very good there.

Song and jack deep with Goetze in AM, or new CM with song and jack in AM.

With such a good showing, Wenger might just give it to the Ox anyway.

  50. incesc

basically as everyone has said for years we need experienced pros to complement the youngsters like walcott, ox, wilshere and chesney.

players that can win a game because they have the knowledge to do something simple like give theo a dead leg

  51. Rohan

Vermaelen’s hard but Koscielny is a born footballer anda natural defender. He’s already in the top 5 CB’s in my eyes in the premiership and will go on to be an immense player for us no doubt.

  52. Keyser

Joppaa – “Could you see a Fergie or Mourinho team ever laying down so meekly? Answer me that.”

When was the last time Fergie or Mourinho had a similar squad ? Answer me that. Real Madrid lost to Levante this year, United got knocked out by Basle ffs.

  53. JOPPAAAAAAAA

    OMG Keyser….honestly.

No point talking to you. Obviously all big teams lose the odd silly game but Arsenal have lost 12 games this season. A Fergie / Mourinho would rarely get it wrong against that Milan side.

The squad we have is totally down to Wenger. Fck me the excuses you make.

  54. Bazza

The boys were magnificent tonight. I’m amazed that there are still so many negative comments about Wenger and some of the team. Maybe if some of you wankers out there put more effort into getting behind the manager and team it might actually encourage them. Do you really think constant abuse helps?

  55. David

    Agreed Wilshere plays better deep.

He’s not as quick as Cesc mentally and needs a couple more touches at his feet before it clicks.

That being said he’s a huge prospect.

If Mourinho leaves Madrid we could always bid for a Di Maria or Ozil

  56. incesc

    rohan

kocielny tonight for me was the best player on the pitch.

hated him last year but its a pleasure to watch a guy that is that natural attacking the ball. He has great accelaration attacking the ball, makes it look easy.

apart from chamberlain and rvp he is our most natural footballer

  57. Keyser

Joppaa – It’s like you’re pissed or something.

“A Fergie / Mourinho would rarely get it wrong against that Milan side.” – They’re not playing are they, what are you talking about.

Arsenal have never won the European Cup, United have won it 3 times, Milan have won it 7 times, Real Madrid have won it 9 times.

Are you telling me now you ‘re expectations in the Champions League are the same as those clubs or that we’re on an equal footing ?!

Next season when fergie gets United to the knockout stages we’ll talk about that then, and if you think we’ve got a squad as good as Real Madrid’s right now or that we should have one, you’re clearly an idiot.

  58. Dan Ahern

gambon – I didn’t argue that. I in fact agreed he should have sold him in Jan. I only refuted your claim that only AA and Zenit benefit from his loaning there. The player’s leaving later, he was getting almost no minutes (even after a rare good performance), and his stock was at an absolute low–so Arsenal will benefit from letting him go play.

  59. Keyser

I dunno about most natural footballer, but he’s got everything to be a top quality defender, we’ve just put our defence under ridiculous amounts of pressure.

I think Koscielny’s probably played the most games out of all of our defenders and apart from the odd mistake I’m surprised he hasn’t shown that he’s tired yet.

  60. JOPPAAAAAAAA

Keyser you muppet you just twist words.

    My points:

A Mourinho/Ferguson team would never show such a lack of passion, awareness that we saw in the away leg vs Milan.

My other points. Why do our teams lack passion one week and have it the next? What is Wenger doing to address this?

You just make excuses, Mourinho and Ferguson win at all costs. Wenger hasn’t for a long time now and I doubt he ever will win again. But we can all judge him in may.

I think you just make excuses and argue against facts like yesterday when you told me our defence was solid and it was all down to injuries. just fill of shite really.

  61. incesc

He just seems to be able to react physically to situations at top speed keyser and reads the game to be in a positions to do so.

    Thats why i say natural.

Makes Song look like an amatuer in that regards

  62. Keyser

Joppaa – It’s a bullshit point though, are you saying you’ve never see any team they’ve managed put in an average performance or a poor one, United lost to Crystal Palace at home this year in the Carling Cup, they lost 4-0 away toWest Ham last year in the same competition.

“You just make excuses, Mourinho and Ferguson win at all costs.”

You can’t just look at that, if Real Madrid have the most expensively assembled squad of all time, then doesn’t that matter ?!

“I think you just make excuses and argue against facts like yesterday when you told me our defence was solid and it was all down to injuries. just fill of shite really.”

I didn’t tell you that, either you’re really emotional right now or I dunno what, you wondered why our defence isn’t consistent, I simply pointed out it’s hard to have a consistent defence, when your teamsheet changes from one week to the next.

Is that too hard to understand ? Is Jenkinson as good a right back as Sagna ? Just answer that to begin with.

  63. incesc

Rvp does it, like tonight when he rolled the ball then hit that shot that abbiatti saved.

thats the same kind of speed of thought as when koc landed and moved his body to shield the ball from Divebrambovic instantly.

When you can think and move at that speed, 2 seasons in to a top class career you are quality.

wilshere can get the ball, look up and pass at that speed.

about 30 of our players are miles off

we need pros that can do that and influence a game

  64. Keyser

incesc – Don’t start on Song, heh.

Thought you mean’t good on the ball, Sorry, wouldn’t say he’s as good as others we’ve had, but as a defender without the ball he’s quality, we need a replacement for Cesc, and Wilshere back, so we don’t lose the ball as much and put oursevles under pressure.

  65. Keyser

It’s not just that, it’s doing it consistently, Koscielny’s been consistent this year amongst complete chaos, last year was similar.

Xavi’s not as skillful or as dynamic as other players, but he does it soo consistenly that it doesn’t matter.

  66. incesc

i dont want to knock song individually but our whole midfeild isnt clever enough,

we cannot influence the game without a midfileder that can read the game at the highest level,

apart from wilshere all of our midfielders are work horses and athletes.

  67. incesc

xavi is a great reader of the game

and he can put a pass in the perfect place almost every time.

no one in our midfield does that this year

  68. Keyser

Yeah, but a massive part of that is that he’s been playing with similar team-mates, a certain formation style at the same club since he was about 9, Song can put in quality passes, he just can’t do it all the time. I dunno, I remember last year we were moaning about how up and down it was, this years just been off the charts.

I have to admit I didn’t see us coming back against Spurs and we were jammy against Liverpool.

  69. incesc

oxlade looks like cesc with pace and the ability to take on a man to me.

I’d play wilshere deeper and ox in the attacking role in midfield.

they would pass the ball around alot of teams, get a good winger like hazard.

its pretty clear a wenger team will never it back and defend

  70. Keyser

It’s not sitting back and defending it’s being at least able to pass it forward through congested midfields, Ox hasn’t shown any of that, Cesc never had electric pace or great strength so he used his head, it’s something the Ox is going to have to pick up. Wilshere’s got it because he’s always been smaller than most of the others.

As it is now, if Ox can be like Nasri and hold it up out wide allowing others to push up in support, then all we need is someone in the hole to pick him out and his runs along with Theo, Gervinho and even Maiyachi.

  71. incesc

Not sure if i ever see Chamberlain holding it up and waiting kind of player. Hes gonna put his head up and make things happen with his pace or with a ball.

  72. Keyser

That’s it though, you need players to be able to keep up with him or he’s just going to get crowded out. Rosicky looked decent today again, a younger technical player like him who’s also as quick would be great.

  73. Rohan

I don’t think Oxlade has the passing range or creativity from a playmaking point of view to ever play in the Cesc role.

He’s a strong, fast, tricky all round player. He’s best on the right of a 433 I think. Good backup though.

I like Wilshere but I think he’d be fantastic in the role Arteta’s playing this season.

We absolutely have to buy a top class CAM this year.

  74. Rohan

We don’t have a single proper playmaker who likes to just spray the ball around.
Even someone like Gourcuff would be ideal.

Goetze would be the complete package. He can do taht aswell as run in behind.

  75. incesc

oxlade is only 12 rohan, he can blantantly read the game and see a pass already,

cesc was 1 in a million, we cant compare everyone to him

  76. Rohan

Ox and Miyaichi/Theo/Hazard on either side of the front three with RvP up top with a midfield 3 of Jack, Song, and Mr.WC Playmaker would do it for me.

A settled defence, and we might just challenge.

  77. Rohan

I don’t think he can “see” a pass any more than Rosicky can. Apart from Song, no one has made a pass this season that even I couldn’t blatantly tell was on looking at my telly.

Cesc used to pull out passes out of nowhere consistently. I still wonder how many goals RvP wouldve had if he’d been fit and in this sort of form.

  78. Keyser

Didn’t you watch Breaking Bad ? Seriously I criticised the other series but this one takes almost everything good about each of them and efficiently pieces them together.

Haven’t see any recent films, been recording random stuff like Storage Wars or Pawn Stars, even One Foot in The Grave.

Saw some film with Kate Winslet called ‘Little Children from 2007 or something pretty good. ‘Head-on’ – Turkish- German production about the pressures of inter-racial/ religion and relationships.

‘Luck’ looks ok on SkyAtlantic, Mad Men’s supposed to be good, and going through Seinfeld episodes.

haha thats actually quite funny, and true

  80. Rohan

Little Children is a good one.

The more I think about it, our first team only needs 2 more addditions. Our squad needs like 10. With some smart purchases, I think we can rebuild our team somewhat for under 60million.

Podolski for 5mill is a great start. Hoillet is another one. Surely we can pik up other players like Arteta as well.

As for start buys, Goetze, and either a striker would do me.
I don’t think a winger is as high a priority as the above (especially given Ox’s potential and Miyaichi’s rise at Bolton)

  81. Rohan

If we do buy another WC striker, where would he fit in. Assuming we stick to a 433 with RvP up top. Id love a Gandhian non-racist Suarez or an Aguero style player.

  82. Keyser

We had the perfect base last year, really depressed about that.

Fabregas/ Nasri and Wilshere together for 2-3 years with Sagna- Kos-Verm-Gibbs, Chesney, Song Van Persie and we could’ve added players like Ox and built a fearsome side that would still be reaching it’s full potential.

We’ve taken two steps back this year.

  83. Gooner boy

Gambon is probably the most hysterical anti Weng blogger on the Arsenal blogosphere. He is far more critical of Wenger and the team than any opposing website I have read including Man U and Spuds. The one major difference is the majority of them will admit to the manager having some good qualities.

In my opinion and clearly others here he definitely has something-apart that is from a ludicrously overblown sense of self importance and view of himself as the next football messiah.

I also don’t agree with a lot Gambon writes from Walcott being a spastic to the club needing to get rid of almost every player just exaggeration on both fronts.

I have no idea why his offensive low life comments about other posters being retards, cunts or spastics or racist comments about African footballers, the French are routinely allowed to stand .

It has to be said that this isn’t the only Arsenal site with resident offensive posters and I am glad that they don’t edit Gambons comments out because he only shows himself up with these comments for what he is.

  84. Keyser

It’s not the same without Lurch’s film experience, wonder if he’s got new Australian friends on a blog somewhere, I say friends, random blog ones.

Heh, maybe it’s because soo many people have recommended it.

    Monica Belucci in ‘Malena’.

  85. jogo

Judging from few weeks performance, this Arsenal is good enough. This arsenal is capable of competing in any league.

    WENGER IN.

  86. CallItKarma

Reading through this… Genuinely the only place where there isn’t a sense of pride about tonight. Yes we went out, but we went down fucking FIGHTING, see a fucking positive for once you miserable lot!

  87. zeus

    Change is definitely a coming.

Would love Goetze too, but think that hazard is a tad overrated though Gambon lives him.

But surely the big surprise is who is gonna be number 2. Wenger may just bring in his replacement from now.

What’s the name of that guy that Wenger put forward. He coaches in china, something dragan.

  88. bnsb

    Good Morning all!

What a match, though it felt like Greek Tragedy at the end.

Dragan Stojkovich, he manages Japanese club Nagoya Grumpus Eight which Arsene too coached in his early days.

  89. Bade

In spite of the big disappointment, after all we needed only 1 goal in the second half, it maybe the best thing for us

We really had no chance to progress further, so at least we restored the pride, and kept the momentum running

So now we can concentrate in overtaking the Spuds

  90. Bade

But oh! What a miss that was

Why to try and chip it? Why not blast it with all the power into the roof of the net?

    urghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  91. bnsb

Morning Bade, Newcastle home on Monday. Will not be an easy one. Would be happy if we scrape through. Any idea on injuries yesterday?

  92. Bade

    Morning Gnarly

He was immense, great game, played with so much responsibility

He’s going to be a classic player, though we should be ware not to overuse him too early

I just hope the lack of those signings we all were calling for was obvious to the people in the driving seat in the club

We needed that bit of extra quality to push us further, we didn’t have it though

  93. bnsb

We needed that bit of extra quality to push us further, we didn’t have it though

Obviously we ran out of gas and ideas. Remember which was the only team in the world whose players were involved in 4 games in 9 days.

  94. blanco

We will not get Goetze or Hazard in the summer – Wenger will not spend the money. Problem is Wenger is so loyal to players. Just look at Diaby, Rosicky, Ramsey, Djourou. He has stuck by them when maybe he should of got rid of them. We have more players out on loan and a squad bereft of depth because of the wages we play average players. Also as mentioned Wenger does not do tactics. His team play the same way every game – reason we have not won a trophy in 8 years. All other top teams the manager changes tactics or makes adjustments to the opposition. Even Barca change the setup to suit different teams. In barca case usually the personel. We play one way even tho we do not have the players. To me until Wenger goes or he gets an assittant with a football brain who Wenger is willing to listen to – we are domed for years not to win. We can finish top 4 even make semis, but win – no way. For that to happen we need characters and tactical know which Wenger does nor posses.

  95. Bade

    bnsb

There were enough teams to play games like that

I hope OX and Theo weren’t injured badly

But both were limping when they were taken out

  96. Bade

Relying on Diaby’s fitness costs us again and again

Yesterday we had nothing on the bench, Chamakh and Park trotting there was painful to watch

When the OX and Theo were subbed, you felt the two strikers we introduced didn’t impact the game in any way, instead of us piling pressure on Milan with 2 additional strikers, it seemed like we were held off with those subs

  97. Bade

I don’t what it is, but certainly a big miss by our best player meant something

Maybe that we’re too reliant on him ….

  98. Ogungbemi Segun

good game frm the lads. but, this team will be made weaker next season. wenger said were not good enough last.season, then he sold cesc n nasri. is the team weaker or stronger?
