Welcome to Le Grove 2.0

by & filed under News Review.

Help yourself to a fresh one!

Good afternoon Grovers and welcome to the new incarnation of Le Grove!

I’ll give a bit more of an introduction when everyone is over, needless to say, if you’re here, you’re in the right place.

Enjoy the site and please feel free to let me and the design boys over at Phoenix Studios know what you think!

Also, why not kill some time by talking about all the players we didn’t sign on deadline day!

Pedro & Geoff

I prayed for something new on the last day of the transfer window. I guess I should have been more specific.

  2. IvoryGoonz

    and no change on iphone.
I can click, but the video should display inside the browser on internet explorer/firefox, or as a snapshot with a play button. can’t get either 🙁

  3. IvoryGoonz

CedarBayDave: like what? a new kettle? or a new Denilson?
we don’t buy stars. we break some kids, we eventually make men of some of them, and then we sell them for profit.

  4. SUGA3

fucking hell, nothing sees to work, cleared the cache, restarted the PC and still LG domain redirects to the WordPress page…

any other ideas? I am accessing the site via proxy, which I am assuming is the reason why my details are not kept…

Congrats on the new site. Only slight niggle is that scrolling past 300+ comments to get to this form is a touch tedious. Could the form be placed at the top (i.e. before the first comment)?

    Thats cruel Ivory.

Seriously though I am fearful for our club, I believe and this is just my opinion that Kroenke is building up funds at Arsenal to buy or prop up his other business interests.

Sounds like your proxy is caching pages which makes sense really. If you control the proxy re-boot that. It might be that you have to go into your management console to stop the service and restart it again then it may decache itself. Not sure how else you could do it if you can’t send commands to the server.

  8. SUGA3

    G2301,

I’m using a proxy I don’t have the control of, but thanks anyway, I will try to sort something out tomorrow, I’m off for now, latazzzz!!!

    arsenal1886-2006: I know I know, sorry.

I don’t see why you’d repay your debt on stadium quicker in advance with money earned from sales and sell your best players without replacing them, if that wasn’t to able the current board to cash out somehow or take further loans for other purchases.
that’s willingly holding back. and yes, after giving the other team to his son, after going after the Rams, he’s trying to get the Dodgers. Why not.
if the actual aim was to wait the advantages of FFP for Arsenal, and that would be really naive (refs don’t do us any favours, why should FIFA or UEFA do? those rules were mostly implemented to prevent clubs from going bankrupt, not to prevent rich clubs from buying if they want to…)
but let’s say that would be the case,
then what’s the point having a billionaire who doesn’t spend before that rule is implemented?

I’m asking why are we pilling cash on the cash account (probably around 180m by now, producing around 18m interest.) rather than buying the players we need and that were available? to sell Diaby and others, you usually have to give some money to the future buying clubs.
and after all with the ridiculous offers we do, without even asking how much first, and without going back with a decent offer, and keeping negotiations on the table, penny pinching is what get us Eisfeld rather than Gotze.
I don’t want any AKB coming around and tell me Eisfeld is the new Messi.
    he isn’t.

  10. IvoryGoonz

well, 1. Open the Command Prompt (from the Start button, go to Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt).
    2. In the command prompt window, type “ipconfig /release”
    3. In the command prompt window, type “ipconfig /renew”
    4. Exit the Command Prompt by typing “exit”

  11. Gunner2301

    IG

Eisfeld is the new Bischoff and we know how that turned out. We’ve turned into the Ebay of World football trying to turn a profit on anything. We should go into the antique business. We’ll be advertising Emirates car boot sales soon. I’ts laughable.

  12. IvoryGoonz

I’m in bed, but can’t sleep.
    Shit window.
Just waiting for the usual “we tried to sign Hazard (for 10m), Goetze (10), Ganso (8), Vertonghen (6), but our offers were rejected. We tried again on deadline day (Hazard 12, Goetze 12, Ganso 10, Vertonghen 8) but we were told it was too late and they didn’t have enough time to get replacement.”
And check today on arse.com, you’ll see Wenger moaning about clubs spending less and being more cautious, while at same time doubting the FFP. Quite funny.
Or not. Already preparing for more excuses for when he’ll be asked why he did not buy and why he did not sell Aeshavin, Chamakh and Squillaci.

but the market is not moving,

  13. OPG

Yeah I think there is money only the club need to sell but they won’t or can’t. It shouldn’t matter what other clubs are doing only they should be looking to strengthen when you can.

  14. IvoryGoonz

I think the one thing Wenger hasn’t understood in how Barca can afford big players from time to time, is to actually really develop theirs to save money, and not hesitate to pay hormone treatment when the kid plays like Messi.
5m/yr for the Barca academy cost.
70 staff members to manage/coach 75 players 11 to 18yrs old started in 1979. 33 years they do it.

In comparison, we have 11 years, much less staff, much less youngsters.

    http://www.arsenal.com/reserves-youth/arsenal-academy

    http://www.totalbarca.com/2010/news/la-masia-the-footballing-factory-par-excellence/

We spent 30 m on 2 players from Southampton because we didn’t have that in-house.
Barca have to sell their Fabregas because there’s too many good players in their team, and still have money to get them back when they become world class
    Pathetic really.

  15. IvoryGoonz

Apart the usual moaners, it’s a big success!
    Well done P&G&G!

Oh, yes, I wouldn’t mind Guardiola either, if I’m not wrong his contract is over in the summer.

  16. OPG

Yeah heard about Arshavin he could still leave but it’s not convenient now, this great scouting network apparently can’t find better player than the ones in the current squad..

  17. angeausarsenal

We are an incompetent, bumbling, joke of a club. Jack out for the season conveniently kept quiet till after the window closes. Management, board members and our useless medical team, all need to be replaced if we are ever to compete at the highest levels of European football again. This will not end well.

  18. passionandpride

Wenger could not even sell any of his crap foster-sons: Chamakh, Diaby, Deniilson, (the list cud be too long). Thats such a truth statement of fact that he has been rearing these asses and mules whom even Champoinship teams dont wanna buy.

Oh what a pain to be a Gooner!!!

  19. passionandpride

Board out! Kroenke Out! Wenger out!!!!

This board does not make any smart move which would imply that all these spartan way of life is kind of a ‘pain today, gain tomorrow’ stage. Where is this club heading? Worst part of the story is that there in no fucking glimmer at the end of this 7 year old tunnel.

  20. IvoryGoonz

let’s not kid ourselves, Wenger, Gazidis, and Stan all agree based on Wenger’s vision.
    otherwise, there would be moves.
I’m afraid booings and empty seats are not going to reduce.

  21. Pat

You know, with Wilshere being injured and all, ringing up Hleb would be a good move. Save the season Arsene. Hleb still has it in him and he’d love to join.

  22. Bade

So we can close the gap on the $ity now, can’t we?

A win away at the Reebok and we’re only 15 points adrift, so it’s widely open still

  23. Bade

It’s matcday, so should spread positives all over, but again the blue is in with a big shout

Maybe it’s due to the new icon we’re all getting now? Lost all our character seems like

Hope we’ll escape 4th loss on the run

I won’t be able to stand it

  24. OPG

Nevermind City or the top honestly but your probably being sarcastic, the club has lowered expectation and we should as usual unfortunately.

People think the competition is bad in La Liga look at the PL atm, Ligue 1 is a close and the Bundesliga..

  25. Geoff

Interesting that we were told by Wenger we didn’t need any more midfielders and he goes off and signs a young German from Dortmund, not the one we wanted though!

  26. SUGA3

so, Jack is out for the season, is he?

and the club waited for the TW to shut before announcing it?

and Wenger LIED about not knowing the extent of the setback?

    shock, horror!

  27. SUGA3

fuck me, we have got ONE top class player out of the masses we put through the academy and what does Wenger do?

run him into the ground in the first season, what a idiot…

    OUT, OUT, OUT!!!

  28. gambon

Lets face it they held the info of JWs injury back for a week until the window closed.

The mail broke it 2 hours, yes 2 HOURS after the window closes.

Hate to say it, but i told you he would miss the season back in September, just like I told you Vermaelen would miss the season in Sept 2010.

  29. flinky

Gazidis: “Yes, we can’t afford to spend £50-70million on an individual player. But, we’re proud of the way we do things, and we’re proud of the results that we’re able to produce from that. OJOJ

  30. Steve t

It’s disgusting the way Jacks news was held back till the window closed, somehow allowed to happen on 2 consecutive windows.
Next summer will be the worse yet. With the Euros & no Cmps Lge, who the hell’s going to come now.

    KRONKE OUT!!! UZBEC IN!!!

  31. gambon

Erm, correct me if im wrong……only 2 clubs in history have paid £50m+ for a player.

Pathetic…..last year it was £30-40m, now its £50-70mn. What next Fester you cunt….£80-£100m.

    Gambon…Comfirmed!!

Wenger said last week! When asked about Benayoun and loan players…

“But we were on the last day of the transfer window. We knew that Jack Wilshere would need surgery. So we were short in midfield at that point and to find two players so late was nearly impossible for us without using a loan. At that time, the most important thing was just to sign him.”

  33. fanboy

Yes! So did anyone catch the late transfers last night?…really good movements, eh?

Seems we the fans are being taken for blockheads; who wouldn’t see through the “we just found out jack would be out for the season just as the window closed” story? Wankers

  34. gazzap

Might have just been me, but Le grove took about 2 minutes to load this morning and another 2 minutes to show the comments. Its too slow. If this is the future I want to go back to the past! Hope its just teething problems.

okay so the soccer gods have spoken. this is from my earlier question.

i said that habs and stars would lose if liverpool lost today’s soccer match vs chelsea.

and chelsea won 3-2, with more points aggregate going to chelsea making it 4-3 over liverpool.

i think i also said that if liverpool had won carey price would start the game, and since they didn’t i’m going to stick with that. i can’t change predictions. BUT hopefully carbo does start him and carey has a good game.

i’m trying to make it so that the habs will come up with something but based on what i said earlier the flyers and sharks (eww) are going to win tonight.

    GO HABS!!!!
    go stars!
who do you think is going to win the hockey games tonight…but there are so many of them already so mine is all based on soccer.

and also flyers fan, i’m watching the news so i can’t get to sports news till 6:30, but really, they said that he’s not starting at the warmup. well earlier today carbo was still undecided and at preskate no one knew who would start. and also agree 100% with Mike. i hope that halak gets an oppertunity to be a starting goalie because he is that good. i already said that in the halak vs price questions a little bit earlier today. a cold halak is not like a cold price. he’s really a good goalie, and his technique is a merge, while carey’s is mostly one style.

Can’t log on all morning.. Looks like the server is overloaded or a bandwidth issue??

When on; the home page does not load at all..I just see the read more red box and click that quickly before it vanishes into a blank page, and the rendering of the comments needs some attention! There is a lot of text overlap and inconsistancy of display.

Other than that.. all good! 😉

Oh and refreshing comments takes forever also and basic formatting instructions are ignored.. for example CR breaks to indicate paragraphs…
