It’s Monday morning and I feel good, Mr Wenger this is what Arsenal fans deserve.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Ok we won and we won handsomely, in style and beat the chavs with all their money by their biggest ever Premier League home defeat, justice!

I am I happy? You bet, am I satisfied? Not a chance, but after a win at Stamford Bridge, you’ll hear nothing negative from me, why? Because I am an Arsenal fan first, and seeing my team do that, whatever the politics makes my week, and now I go to work happy, and that is what I expect given the vast amount we as fans pay and what the management and playing staff earn.

Anyway I have to be happy with the summer, so why is that you may ask? All that complaining?

Ok forget how we got there, let’s go straight to the finish line first, we got rid of Eboue, Almunia, Clichy, Denilson and Bendtner, a combination of which we all wanted.

Cesc went and to be honest he was a crock for his last three seasons, a crap captain and since he’s been in the team we have won nothing, same with Nasri. So really, who cares? All I care about is spending the money on world class replacements.

And watching Kolo, Clichy and Nasri bench warm makes me almost as happy as seeing Ade screw up his career, the player that no one wants, ha, ha!

Enter Robin, uninjured he’s the best forward in world football, and a proper captain in the Vieira/Adams mould, what he did at the end of Saturdays game wasn’t about us winning, it was a thank you to the long suffering fans, I saw that, well done Robin, you are a top bloke!

Ok our defence is still all over the place but we still have Sagna to come back, Vermaelen is already back and Kozzer is starting to justify his cost at last. Mertesacker I like, he is the glue we have needed and he will start to get goals, of that I have no doubt. Don’t forget we were calling for him during the last World Cup.

Jack Wilshere really will be like a new signing when he returns and Ramsey is at last starting to fill Fabregas’s boots. If Ryo and Park kick on then we are starting to look like we can do some damage at last. And don’t forget OXO, our all new impact secret weapon!

I won’t name the duds, it’s not negative Monday, but a few top signings in the window could see us in the hunt for the first time in years.

I also know I have said that for years, it’s still true now so I hope he finally acts.

I would still bring in Cahill, Goetze will also do and Hazard, we will be screwed when Robin gets injured but Theo, saviour of England finally had the game that justifies his standing, and let no one ever say I didn’t believe in him because I always have. We still need another goalscorer though.

So all in all I am finally half-way happy and looking forward to seeing us qualify tomorrow, no flaky team Wenger, that’s what got us Barca last time. Let’s put out a strong side and win the group.

Have a great day today Grovers, tomorrow is the dessert to Saturdays main course!

My rough estimate of the transfer cost of our starting eleven yesterday is £59m. Chelsea spent more than that in January on two players. i know we do not pay to see accountancy figures but surely this must to some extent support wenger’s policy of refusing to pay whatever is demanded by an artifically inflated transfer market. Luiz ‘shows what you get when you spend proper money’ (Le Grove, Feb 2011) did not even start due to his consistent poor form this season.

  2. roaaary

i was just sat on the tube next to 2 chelsea fans bitter as fuck about the game. I was only on the tube for 4 stops but it was brilliant hearing their pain. Their view was they nearly stole it with the mata goal and that santos was a heap of shit.

@Josip – I too am happy to eat my hat over slating kozzer he is turning into a rock if played next to merter. still worried when he is marshalling the defence (see man utd alongside dj).

  3. frenchie

hazard states he will not be playing for ogl at psg, but he will be leaving losc in the summer. i can think of only one destination…real madrid.

  4. Gazthegooner

Hello all what a result!! still can’t get rid of me grin!! and also all the chelsea mugs giving me the swerve at work love it!!

Great post today Geoff, and love the way we celebrated at the end of the game.

    Come on you Gunners!

  5. PerSantosPak

    Great post Geoff,

Can we have a “Ignore Gambon” button on the blog?
    ——————————————————————-

I second that request, Geoff, please!

  6. Evan

AKB filter would be flippin amazing. Controversy aside Gambon is spot on. Best case scenario, the team keeps getting results until Jan and then strengthen, will Wenger do that… doubt it

  7. Leedsgunner

What’s wrong with a bit of debate? I don’t agree with everything Gambon says but at least he’s willing to stand by his convictions… long live free speech!

  8. Albo

Great post Geoff. Like you say, there are still glaring weaknesses but it’s fantastic to see an Arsenal team with some fight and passion again.

Cesc was a fine player, but he certainly had that tendency to sulk and go into his shell when things weren’t going well, or if he felt he was carrying the team. RvP seems the opposite. He thrives on being the main man, and his passion is there for all to see. And his gathering the team over with the away fans only made me love him even more.

(In other news, is it me or has Gambon metamorphosed from being a super negative, but for the most part rational, poster into a total wind up merchant plonker, peddling a whole lot of nonsense just for shock factor? I mean yesterday he was trying to argue that the Invincibles season really wasn’t that impressive and today he’s going with that ‘Wenger the worst manager in the league’ nonsense. Wenger has many faults, but the idea that he’s the worst manager in the league is laughable. If anyone else posted that they’d be laughed off the site…)

  9. Radio Raheem

in his first season na$ri scored 6 goals and gave 5 assists in 40 games

gervinho in his first 8 games has 2 goals and 5 assists.

not a bad start for the cheap forehead
    ——————————————————–

True but remember how old Nasri was when he moved over.

  10. Albo

The other point I meant to make about Cesc is that I really feel he (and Nasri to some extent) slowed our play up enormously. We became predictable because he would dwell on the ball just outside the opponent’s box, searching for the perfect pass. Sure, he might deliver that perfect pass on occasion, but more often than not he was met with 2 banks of 4 blocking his way and we went sideways again.

I feel the current set up has WAY more directness and therefore way less predictability. Look at the Gervinho miss in the opening stages of the game. The one touch passing leading up to that move took us from the edge of our box to their goal in seconds. Right up until Gerv cocked it up it was vintage Invincibles. Not seen enough of that sort of thing in the last few seasons…

  11. nishanth

Disagree about Cesc.He was a fantastic player. We didn’t take full advantage of his talent. He didn’t slow up our game.Gervinho would look even better if cesc was there in the team.A real shame that we never really had a direct winger during cesc’s time here.He had to cope with the likes of rosicky, hleb, nasri and emmanuel fucking eboue!!

  12. Albo

Evan – do you really think he is ‘spot on’. Are you saying that if we replaced Wenger with ANY manager in the PL right now you’d see that as an improvement? Because that is just as blinkered and stupid as anything the ‘AKBs’ would say. (Btw where are all these AKBs everyone keeps going on about. I haven’t seen a post on here genuinely arguing that Wenger is blameless and incapable of error for about 24 months!)

  13. Frimpongballs

Whats up with the positive post! I use this site for negativity to keep me balanced and all i get is positivity! Nice to see it for a change. Excellent choice with the 3 targets i must say but the chances of it happening are slim.

  14. Bracknell Gooner

It’s a worry that on a great weekend knives are still out!! The biggest halloween fear is that the “oh look at me I have an Ar53nal season ticket” mob will start turning up again and booing the team! For chris sake it’s been great at Emirates over the past month. Even the grand moaner at the back of block 7 disappeared, bet he’ll be back soon. Also good luck to ‘uddersfield 41 unbeaten….

  15. roaaary

cesc was one of the most naturally talented players we have ever had. i think only henry had more natural talent, possibly bergy but he was a different era completely.

The problem were our tactics with cesc. i remember his early years of box to box runs and killer through balls. as wenger realised his talent more he became less mobile and would hold play up, twisting and turning. Like someone said above we would pass across the midfield to retain possession but wouldnt always move forward.

Long and short, cesc was amazin our tactics werent. he always needed a powerful player next to him and never got that

  16. Albo

nishanth – he was of course a fantastic player for us. And had many many strengths. But I do still feel he gravitated toward a style of play that made us very predictable to the Stokes and Birminghams of this world…

  17. Dav

Evan do you make it your duty to try and split our support? If something is not black to you is it white? It makes me laugh how those that stick by the club through bad times get labelled as “AKBs”
I’m sure there are even those that would now feel bitter about any future success we achieve under Wenger

  18. Bracknell Gooner

Oh I fogot to say, will all the “we are in a relagation fight” posters please put their hands up and admit that the team are so much better than that and support means not giving up.

  19. nishanth

RooarY-Totally agree. He wasn’t a great captain but a brilliant fucking player. If ramsey becomes half as good as him we will be lucky.Ramsey has an advantage of being a much better athlete though.

  20. Keyser

You could say Cesc slowing up the game was because of the amount of control we could instill on a game like this, we did it at home against them last year and again it was Malouda being pressured into a passing mistake that set Walcott free.

The team that won 3-1 at home last year plus players like Gervinho, Santos, Arteta and so on would have challenged for the title this year, that’s life I suppose.

Last year you could see the mechanics of the team at work, even if some of the parts ended up broken, this year it’s like an A-Team mission where a strategically placed cotton bud turns the tide for us and saves the day. We’re all over the place but it seems to be working.

  21. Keyser

Santos has an edge about him, Valbuena went through the back of Arteta against Marseille, Santos ran into him to make a point.

Lukaku fouled him for the goal, first thing Lukaku did from the restart was end up on the floor the next time Santos got near him.

  22. Keyser

roaaassey – hanging out of the back of gambon all day.

You’re not that joker tiaraman are you, he was a bit of a twat aswell.

  23. nishanth

Albo-You can’t really say much has changed for sure.We have always managed to beat stoke at home.Even with our current set of players we will struggle at their ground i think.I don’t think cesc had anything to do with the predictability in our game.He was surrounded by sideways passers. The likes of rosicky and nasri never made many runs into the box.Like i said with someone like Gervinho in the team cesc would have been really useful

  24. Bracknell Gooner

The Necromancer returns, Oh Egor(Pat) my expereiments have failed since we lost Dr Lewin all I can create is mindless side passing zombies that fall apart.
Yessss master we need fresh blood!
    Noooo! never fresh blood! Egor.
All I need is more power, Arrrh a plan, yes get Rest vin Pieces. We will build him a new ankle and all will be well!!!
Happy Holloween we are back from teh dead :-)

  25. roaaary

no i am not tiaraman. i am rory. otherwise known as roaaary.

I am not however a lion.

You are a big diva who gets upset easily.

And does not have an opinion on anything

  26. Keyser

roaassey – I just called you a bit of a twat, I’d have called you a fucking twat but then I’m pretty nice really.

You’re not a lion ? Big pussy though right ?!

Heh, what are you upset with now ?!

  27. roaaary

No I am not that Rory I am another Rory.

You can call me Roaaary or Rory whatever you please.

    I am pleased with Roaaary.

  28. Keyser

Santos is different to Clichy, Clichy would have kept Sturridge quiet he’d had been able to keep up with him, he wouldn’t have finished past Cech though.

  29. roaaary

aw Keyser no need to be so nasty anyone would have thought I got to you a little bit yesterday.

Even made you admit you love Gambon……..

I would like you to call me Roaaary in the future please Keyser

  30. kapslock

Santos is a good player but he does need to improve his fitness. That will come. I think he made some great timing challenges on Saturday. The reason we were opened up so many times in the first 5 minutes was because of the ridiculously high line we play, which needs to be looked at imo.

  31. Keyser

rooaassey – Getting to you is it ? Tiaraman hated that aswell.

I’m still wondering what I’ll call you, but Rosey seems apt. If you’d had a decent point yesterday I might have apologised and accepted some humility, but you don’t seem to have one ?!

    What’s up mate ?!

  32. gambon

    Azed

As if me and that idiot went to the same school, im not sure hes even finished school, where as I am a fucking genius!

    Gambon is bigger than jesus.

  33. roaaary

no i didnt have a point i just wanted to pick on you as you have no opinion on anything and post boring stuff.

not really getting to me i dont know who tiaraman is to be honest.

so come on keyser lets hear something decisive from you. where do you think we will finish this year?

Do you feel wenger should be manager next year?

    tactically do you prefer 442/433?

why did your mum miss her pill the night you were conceived?

Do you feel we can finish above spurs?

  34. roaaary

tick tock tick tock…..come on quickly post your views.

Dont read back through other peoples opinions…..what do you think…..

quick keyser. You big QVC watching poofta

    YOU ARE A QUEEN

  35. Bracknell Gooner

    Gambon,

Be careful what you wish for, if the boys keep on playing this way you will also be cruxified for your views!! and all your followers will disown you :-)

  36. Big Dave

1 good win does not call for a “we can beat anyone now” they should just keep quiet and go game by game now, and the celebrations were over the top like we just won the league or something, football has a bad habbit of coming back at you and amking yr self look silly.

so players like theo, just keep gong and do yr job

  37. AC Gooner

    @ Keyser says at 15:35

I totally agree. I noticed that too about Santos and Lukaku.

FӤking fantastic to beat them with Mata and Lukaku playing.

    “Wrong decision, boys”

  38. Keyser

roaassey – Are you sure I’m not getting to you.

Tiaraman did have one decent prediction he said we’d get 14 points from the first 10 games, he was nearly right, that last game must’ve shocked him.

  39. gazzap

we are now 45-1 to win the league. What was it like 5 weeks ago!? Looks kind of worth a punt at those odds.
City are heavy favourites 10-11. I think City could choke. 3 injuries and they could fall apart.

  40. pharo9ja

ha ha @ Bracknell. Gambon is a nice little pussy. I like him. I even understand that he’s got social life,no girl friend, doesnt get laid and we (le-grove)are the only semblance of a life/family he’s got. So lets take it easy with the fat cunt.

  41. Big Dave

Injury news – Gibbs & Diaby is that they are both “closing in on fitness”… No fresh injuries from Saturday though.

Who is this Diaby you talk about, never heard of him

  42. Keyser

Santos played in midfield for Fenerbache for the most part I think, that’s a bit how he looks at left back, like a midfielder being asked to play left-back.

He doesn’t really like tracking back because he knows players are quicker than him and he’ll struggle so he makes sure when he has the chance he can put in a tackle that will either get the ball or stop the runner in his tracks.

  43. roaaary

still no answer keyser to the questions.

I feel you are unable to form your own decision and opinions.

Are you really that boring? you must have an interest in something other than shopping channels. I know you claim to watch dave quite a lot but then again that is also boring

  44. Keyser

rooaaasey – I’m just deciding whether I should just take the piss out of you from now on, or whether I should indulge you.

How about you breathe and ask them one at a time. Heh, also careful with the video’s gambon’s usually pretty quick on his opinions to.

  45. Bracknell Gooner

    @roaary

whoops spot the geeza thats not even got a red membership! stump up for the £33 and go and watch the boys live sometime, or maybe the JG :-) te he

  46. JJ

January signings are key. They add impetus for the second half of the season. AA’s addition was the only time in the last 5 years that we have added appropriately on January and it save our CL qualification.

  47. roaaary

@bracknell you pay 33quid to get access to the games which go on general release 99% of the time…..why would i?

  48. pharo9ja

ok,ok I’m from Gigabongo kakopi. Just 5 miles from kent. Pedro can verify that with my IP.
Why,you’d like me to buy you a few pints after the game tomorrow? I could do that but dont be thinking I’d be hooking you up. And no talking to the girls I’ll be with,ok? Blog of love innit?

  49. 5am

People forgetting when they say we need another striker that Park will easier fill the boots of a no.2 man. That said, Wenger’s always had a liking for Kalou too (if Chelsea decide to sell…..)

Don’t need and won’t get Hazard, as auctioning begins with big buck teams of £40mill +

Goetze is interesting – kind of in the Rosicky / Wilshere mould though.

Cahill should still be a definite but wouldn’t be surprised if Wenger’s still hiding the cheque book in January – however a preliminary deal for a summer free would be most welcome!

  50. R.S.P.C.Arsenal

do we still have Luke freeman on the books?

how is the wonder boy joel campbell doing?

is wellington back at our fine club?

  51. pharo9ja

ha ha g-man! Nice come-back. Seriously you dont know where I’m from? Remember ’09 or so when you got into blog brawl with me and franchise?

  52. Bracknell Gooner

@Keyser I think I’m with you on this one, with loyal supporters such as rory @haven we can’t go wrong. As my mate in the box office says the list that shows new emirate season ticket attendance vs Higbury transfer season ticket attendance tells it all. :-) Back to my earlier post Manc chavs booed the team off for not scoring. It was fun at the Emirates when our chavs stopped turning up after a few bad games :-)
P.S Rory, I am lucky enough to be able to support my family and my club with two 11M series season tickets. :-)

  53. Keyser

Bracknell Gooner – Everyone’s entitled to an opinion, don’t really know what roaassey’s problem is really.

  54. boozy

when jack returns, would he bench arteta?

who’s our first choice left back?

what do we do with vermalean?

    few positive headaches for wenger.

  55. roaaary

@bracknell – not paying for a red membership is hardly not being loyal. if anything its stupid paying for something when all the games go on general sale anyway……….

Oh and you are lucky having a season ticket. not denying that. Not saying I dont want one either but they cost a fortune. Hence the reason I go to the games that I can. Being rich doesnt make you loyal

  56. Albo

Nishanth – yeah, I agree. I wasn’t really saying we had improved. In many ways it is the opposite. It was more just registering a hope that we might become more direct this season. I’m not sure it will turn out to be the case, but it would be nice!

  57. pharo9ja

ha ha another good one. I blog love you gambon,I seriously do. But email scammer from near kent? Or was it the Gabongo kokapi that convinced you. U’re a bit like JT,eh?

  58. Bracknell Gooner

    @rory,

Thats true, but home and (by the grace of ‘er in doors away) fair wind or foul does. As I said a large number of “New” Emirates fans tell there own story. I wouldn’t want to hope that my team continue on a bad run of form just so I can watch them and save a few quid? that seems a little self defeating, does it not?

  59. DaleDaGooner

Love the positive post Geoff! Not at all vindicating Wenger, but it was all about being an ARsenal fan!…well done to the Gunners, The defense was still shaky, but if you notice, we seem to have high spirits within the team once we go down a goal, our second halfs have been turn around events…I’ll chalk it down to having true leaders in the squad. Van Persie is a captain, Fabregas wasn’t, with a solid captain and leadership on the pitch, we would have won a trophy or 2 in the last 3 years.

  60. Goon in 60 Seconds

I actually feel the “the blog of love” is kind of my creation as it was born after my “Le Love” nickname for le grove!! that’s what I tell myself anyway !!

  61. pharo9ja

if we’re doing any january shopping, Goetze or Ozil and M’villa would do for me. We need to be looking at a long term replacement for Rosicky and Diaby should be released if he’s not able to sort out his fitness issues.
    What d’ya think g-man?

  62. boozy

the younger yossi benayooon would have had a big impact already – i’m not sure about this one – 2 seasons ago, he was a huge player.

  63. Bracknell Gooner

    @ddgooner,

Nice one Dale, TT, Big Willy and Cesc great players, fantastic skill but far to much me me me to be on the pitch leaders let alone captains. I will never forget TT’s reaction when a young spanish winger scored 6 in 6 with style and curled one into to the top corner for 7 in 6 instead of passing to TT Antonio who??

  64. roaaary

@bracknell – im not sayin i want us to lose so i can go to more games thats stupid! I just find it a big financial commitment. When games become available I go. One of my clients sells the corporate boxes so whenever one is available i shoot off down there for free. Thats not being a bad fan in my eyes.

Also Im not a new skool Emirates boy. I was going to Highbury for years with many memories. I managed to pick up tickets for the 4-0 against Everton when we won the league for 8quid or something. One of the best games I have ever seen.

Just saying to have a season ticket is commitment but also something not everyone can have. The silly membership things are pointless unless you have a gold one as you dont gain anything!

  65. Hussain

    Pharo

Ozil? really? I would say City has more chances of getting Giggs than we have of Ozil currently, doubt if Madrid will let anyone havea sniff at him for the next 4-5 years, their team revolves around him and Ronaldo to be fair and he is doing brilliantly for them! The only players available from Madrid would be Granero, Kaka and Marcelo. Also does anyone know how Sahin is doing up there? havent really been hearing much about him of late! Brilliant player

what do we do with vermalean?

    _________________________________

Put him in the the centre of defense of course. Spine of team needs to be class. The best spine we have is:

    Schez, Verm, Jack, RVP.

When we (hopefully) get back to full mental strength , I believe with the right spirit and attitude we can win the coveted fourth place trophy with this as the backbone of our team.

Fuck if we sign a decent creative MF player, a World class striker in January we might even win a cup.

  67. DaleDaGooner

Bracknell, saw TT last week, Love the guy, but he’s too selfish and arrogant…i know blasphemy, but every time i meet him, he just seems into himself. Love him still though.

  68. pharo9ja

well, Hussein can u find out if Goetze wld be available? I could contribute a million pounds from my profitable e-mail scamming business,eh gambon? All for the love of The Arsenal?

  69. Hussain

Goetze? depends upon how Dortmund do in the league more than CL, if they are still up there in top 2/top 3 in the Bundesliga, i am pretty sure they wont sell their prized asset till the Summer transfer window surely! And Hazard will be too good to be true, we should have signed him up this summer by selling Cesc and Nasri early, Hazard and M’vila with Gerv and Arteta and we would have been good to go, but alas we failed! Although, why was Mata so keen on defeating us on Saturday? did we snub him, we were really close to getting him, what exactly happened that cancelled the deal?

  70. Hussain

the players that in my opinion we might actually get could be Vertonghen, Granero/Gotze/M’vila and Pizarro/Jovetic/Podolski/Llorente depending upon how much their clubs are willing to sell them for!

  71. Hussain

Also, does anyone think we might end up getting one of the strikers that Chelsea might be offloading? I would be delighted if we can get Drogba, still think he would have good 18 months in him if we sign him in January, although it would be ironic if we sell Chamakh and sign Kalou!

  72. darrenchallis

Chelsea want to offload Torres what a Waste of Space he is, he reminds me of the Fat Ronaldo when he got fat. no mobility no anticipation. And Chamakh is not much better. No favours done watching RVP and Torres when whos worth 50 mill. Get Robin to sign and quick

  73. Bracknell Gooner

    @hussain
that muppet Ivan couldn’t read!! EU player buy outs are done on time remaining. at teh time Matu had a couple of days. Ivan said it’s a done deal and waited too long. whne they came to pay the buy out had rolled over and rather than admitting he screwed up and paying. He said no and refused to pay the extra. No wonder matat was pissed! DD would never have cocked up so bad.

  74. Dav

a little something about Arteta…according to the Opta stats I saw for this weekend he hit the highest speed in the Premiership @ 26.79kph

  75. boozy

lemassivecoq – if jack is the spine, then what is song? agree with the rest though – koz at right back may work.

i think it is pretty clear we wont sign hazard – he doesnt really excite me any more – his name has grown bigger than his ability.

we wont be signing anyone in january, except rvp gets injured.

  76. Hussain

To be fair, I would never put Kozzer at the RB, the guy is a hardcore CB who loves the art of defending and loves to be in the face of the striker! Give Jenkinson a go at the rb till Sagna gets fit and just pray that he comes good and learns to play with the big boys! Santos would lose the pounds if he continues playing, needs to learn the art of defending and find a balance between his attacking prowess and doing his basic task which is to defend!

  77. Hitman

Over 48 hrs and still feeling great!!
Not been so elated post match since invincible days.

Loads of well dones at work as well.

A Sheff Utd fan said whole of Bramhall Lane cheered when they heard the score. No one likes Chelsea. Neutrals appreciate AFC.

  79. SUGA3

I am pretty skeptical on the whole playing central defenders in wide positions business, you can tell by looking at Djourou or even Vermaelen playing as fullbacks, they don’t seem to grasp the concept that there is a line on the side of the pitch, just my observation…

  80. Hussain

    Suga
with you on the eboue front, should never have been sold, great energy and could have been even better with this current lot who seem to care, never whining about being on the bench, and more than decent cover when called upon the pitch!

    kwik
haha hopefully tomorrow would be another good result, going for a clean sheet tomorrow, hopefully 2-0 and would love it if RVP isnt called upon and Park/Arteta/Arsha get the goals between them!

I think we must play our strongest team because Marseille are set up to counter attack. Plus last season we took the foot of the pedal and nearly didn’t qualify. So Hussain I think we need RVP on the pitch from the start.

  82. SUGA3

I would start Park upfront and introduce RvP after 45 mins if the former is pants, but if he does all right, I would not sub him at all or on the hour mark if there is the need…

glad we got rid of the clown, despite the potential nose.spite.face. situation – I despised the cult of ebway.

i do agree with you but i am really starting to get scared by the thoughts of an RVP burnout, that would really set us back and kill the confidence that we seem to have picked up but yes maybe start with him and pray to the footballing gods that we are 2-0 up by the 60th so that we can take him off!

P.S: Lets not forget that Park has played in the French league and would be pretty familiar with Marseille and their system?!

as much as i hated eboue and his antics, you persuaded me months ago. djourou and jenks are not the answer for an arsenal without sagna.

hardly any of our players set the world alight after they leave Arsenal, its probably some voodoo that Wenger does on his players, and to be fair here, not many of our players had set alight before we signed them! Its only at Arsenal that they seem to shine for some odd reason!
Maybe Wenger DOES know how to get the best out of average players???

  87. incesc

its interesting walcott saying theres a better balance of characters in the changing room now nasri is gone…

also diaby, injured? haha hes not even played hes constomary 3 games yet

    :)

  88. Lurch LeRouge

maybe defensively suga3 but he offered nothing going the other way – bar keeping his opponents honest with his pace.

I’ll happily live without the embarrassing dives, histrionics and row z crosses not forgetting the headless chicken runs into the box, leaving us sorely exposed for absolutely no product.

the fella didn’t improve at all in his time with us, its not Ideal that were compromised right now but I’m confident Jenks will grow and learn at least and will harbour a competitive hunger to be world class that Eboue never could, he was content and thats a disease in squads of young kids.

I think eboue was great as a utility player. Useful is the best word for him even if he did make silly mistakes.

I think lurch hit the nail on the head though as he was comfortable and probably helped breed the denilson generation

I would much rather he get the best out of good players and leave the average ones for ‘arry the twitch!

  91. frenchie

i was more than happy to see eboue leave. i just think he is/was a better option at right back than the current options. i would have prefered arsene to have purchased gregory van der wiel.

  92. Lurch LeRouge

i think its a case of one step back before we can take 2 forward with Eboue. if he’d made the role his own after Lauren and grown to be as solid as Sags or Dixon then yeah great, just wasn’t gonna happen.

Van der wiel? yeah maybe but I’m glad we got an englishman if im honest

  93. roaaary

@kwik ok so maybe overexaggerated but he was good to bring on if someone got injured. If we were ever lightweight somewhere he added experience and was obviously a good personality in the dressing room.

Wenger said that kos used to play RB in his early days . So maybe a backline of Kos Mert Verm Santos(the new slimline version) may be worth a go.
