So he said half the team wanted to leave, but when asked what the reasons for that were, he said it was all about money, as Man City have won nothing recently (aside from the FA Cup that we last won 6 years ago)

Interesting logic that Arsene, and if that were true, and assuming it is then why if half the team wanted out, did you let our best player and indeed your poster boy leave on the cheap, oh and with three years left on his contract?

And not forgetting the Barca board thought that hilarious, they laughed at the stupid price you sold him for, how is that putting Arsenal first? How did our board sanction that one?

Boy even the most ardent AKB will have trouble with that deal, sometimes Wenger needs to think before he comes out with these astonishing statements.

So if he knew, and he clearly did by this latest statement, then why did he not go out and buy the quality we needed and offload the crap we don’t?

Surely after knowing he was losing Cesc, Nasri, Eboue and Clichy he didn’t think he could replace them with Arteta, Park, Jenkinson, and Yossi Benayoun? Gervinho for Bendtner and Mertesacker were fine, but really, the rest?

Now I like Arteta but he’s no Cesc, Gibbs and Santos can’t fill in for Clichy especially as we all knew he wasn’t (Clichy) good enough in the first place, but Yossi Benayoun for Nasri? He really is deluded if he thinks that will do it.

We were asking for experience like Parker to help the kids, not average old crocks at the end of their careers, more babies and a far eastern money spinner.

The reason that half the team want out is because they want to win trophies and they are fed up with the failure to make top signings, this summer proved that, now look at what you rewarded the players like RVP with that stayed.

Yes Man City haven’t won much but it won’t be long, why? Well because they are buying mainly world class players, anyone can see that, well almost anyone, Wenger aside that is.

The way this team is playing will see the other half wanting out next summer and then the manager will jump ship and all the AKB’s will ask us if we are now happy scrapping around in the lower half of the division.

Well wake the hell up, that’s where we are now boys, beating Sunderland was lucky, apart from the first 25 seconds we were woeful, wait till we play Stoke, or worse. Then we’ll see about the top four. This club needs a change, Wenger has lost his way and if he doesn’t do something in January, then our decline will continue and by then the horse will have bolted and the  stable gate will take years to shut…

This club rewards mediocrity, Gazidas got a massive bonus last year and anyone that runs a business will ask how that works, what was his bonus for? We need leadership off the pitch before we get it on the pitch and we need a manager that manages, not one that feels he is the spokesman on how a club should be run as a self-sustaining model.

We buy Park and yet we don’t see him play, it’s now October and I think since he joined us he’s scored 6 for Korea and yet barely made a cameo appearance in the Carling Cup for Arsenal, what is that all about? If he’s good enough then play him, if he’s not, then why the hell did we buy him and ruin any chance of signing Hazard? Give him a go, let’s see, God knows we need a goal scorer, if he is rubbish then get looking now and prepare for a big spend in January.

We should have replaced Cesc and Nasri with Hazard and Mata, we didn’t, we still have time to do something equally impactful, maybe Goetze and Hazard, but seeing Yossi Benayoun and Squillaci trotting out will do nothing more than put bigger holes in the stadium, I know Kroenke, Hill-Wood and Gazidas tow the Wenger line, but even that trio cannot be so blind as to ignore the fact the fans are not coming anymore, wake up you mugs, before it’s too late, wake up!

Enjoy the day Grovers, tomorrow we play the group leaders, that will be fun, maybe we’ll see Park at last and realise what we’re missing!

    think he looks pretty good at the moment considering hes come into a new and fairly bad team but i can never imagine him as effective as a pires or overmars.

    the eboue comparisons are obviously a mile off though gervinho looks a lot better than that

    as long as we dont train set pieces properly, and don’t use Chamakh, Mertesacker, VP’s heads, or that there is an equal threat on the other side, he will spend his energy for nothing.
    He’s got no problem finding the goals with Ivory Coast.
    Walcott should be on the left and learn patiently that side too as well as through the center to be as good as Henry, before pretending to be a complete forward, and he doesn’t seem to learn as quick as Thierry.

Park can’t play even 20 games a season. what’s the point having him for 2 seasons apart boosting our shirt sales in Asia? seriously? and honestly, there are better ways to do that… Gerv is already established in the first team, and contribute a lot, but as well, he;s got players like Drogba to whom he can cross..

    Ayme Jacquet new it better than any other french coach, including wenger, to win, you need players to know each other and learn each other’s skills and frailties. Not only pass the ball to each other.
    Seems Theo has now started completing Gerv’s work a bit more and not feel as threatened as he used to.. but I still think Wenger needs to start Gerv on the right and eventually switch them second half if they cant break in…
    and again, that will only work with 2 strikers upfront, having VP, Chamakh, and Doumbia, would let us swap any of them upfront when one needs a rest, and completing with Walcott from time to time to give him some game time as striker as well, and give Miyaichi/Chamberlain game time too…

    kwik fit: I think he would, he’s very rigid in matter of tactics, and a traditional winger stick to the touch line, always. I’ve seen him switch position with Walcott a few times, but not really run at the defense until he was level with the opposition box.

    Maybe Ivory but I think Gerv is at his most dangerous when he takes the fullback on the outside and then cuts in.

    if both your wingers cut inside regularly, the defence cant predict where it’s gonna come from. As soon as you stick to that touchline, you need a much better target man than VP or Chamakh to beat the keeper on a cross. It’s still doable, but you lose a lot of energy, and we would really need another player like Doumbia, and get let B52 to Real Madrid.

    I’d say that’s all he needs, he needs to work off of someone that’s going to be able to play the ball so he can wrongfoot and use his pace past the defence.

    Hazard must of had a far better understanding than either of Drogba or Kalou ?!

    He doesn’t need to switch sides though it could help, Wilshere on his side would be enough, on the other Walcott’s going to learn a lot slower.

    Keyser: he played week in week out with Hazard, so yeah, they got to know each other better, quicker.
    with national squad it’s rather intermittent, and injuries affect the squad more often, with Drogba’s malaria it didnt help either.
    I’d love to have Hazard, but I think it might be too late now, wage wise and fee wise / wenger+the board.
    unless the reason why we brought Park is to give him to Lille in exchange for Hazard.
    I think Kalou would not be enough on long term, and Miyaichi will need a couple of years before being able to play full games week in week out.

    on the overall, true, he’ll learn less than being purely played as a right winger, but the objective is not to make him the best winger, but to make him a better striker.
    learning the ways of the left side – which I think he can do pretty quick, (less than a season) as he knows all the basis of being a winger, he’ll actually learn what he’s lacking to pass both sides of a player at ease.
    Once he can do that, either he can make play as a pure poacher or get him to learn the ways of the middle to make him a complete forward who will know where to be, when to be. rest is up to him.
    If VP leaves, which he would do next summer, or worst case in couple of years, at least he’ll have learned something to help his cause taking that spot.

    There’s little things that show intelligence and to be honest Gervinho and Walcott don’t show enough. Gervinho has a far better chance though.

    Van Persie didn’t do too much against Sunderland but 2-3 times he showed that it doesn’t matter how quick or strong you are if you think quicker than other players you can make the most of it.

    Wenger usually looks for things like that in players so hopefully they’ve both got something else to offer or can progress, but Walcott’s learn’t very slowly.

    Gerv is a winger and will remain a winger for the foreseeable future, at least until Chamberlain is ready…
    For Walcott, it was pure pace, and basic finishing/dribbling skills
    He should be training his free-kicks and time his runs rather than writing books. anyway. hope he progress better.

    Ivory Goonz – His runs are actually pretty good, right now we lack the players to find him the ball and pull his strings so hopefully that’ll improve but the last stage for any striker to go through is to learn to make things for himself.

    People say Henry when they think of Walcott or used to, I think he’ll end up more like Anelka, except Anelka had Bergkamp, and at 22 maybe we’re expecting too much.

    Van Persie may not go on to be the best player ever, but he’s learn’t to adapt several things about his game over the years, hopefully he stays fit now.

    to learn how to do a clean cut cross, you need to learn how your team mate will receive it, and how he likes to receive them…
    to be an effective striker, you dont obligatorily need pace, and quick-thinking. you need to be AWARE. That’s something you ignore Theo. Look a bit earlier at your team mates, dont rush too quick, unless it’s to score it own your own.

    Van Persie injured is still better than a Rooney.
    Van Persie a whole season fit is godly.
    Ideally I’d keep VP until he retires, and make him a scout then a coach. pure quality. Please stay Robin, we need you.
    But we aint playing with 2 strikers upfront at the moment, and we’d need still be short of one man on the left.

    The problem with Theo has little to do with learning…he just hasn’t got enough natural ability. I’d say he has learned quite a lot to be starting for Arsenal and England. He’s learned enough to know how to notch up his stats!

    If you combine natural ability to learning you get RvP or Wilshere.
    Learning with little natural ability you get Theo.

    Gervinho has got more ability on the ball he is just inconsistent in his decision making. Also, you have to cut him some slack for being a newbie!

    There is no doubt Wenger lost the dressing room last season cause he couldn’t turn it around he was abusing water bottles, it did get to him in the end to a extent but not quite enough. The board at the same time there is a disconnect cause of their lack of urgency for the club on the footballing side, we are having our expectations lowered as it is being fed all these excuses and spin.
    He said he should take the blame not the players in the summer as he is the one who put so much faith in the squad last season, he can be overprotective but those 3 dismal months why couldn’t he rally the players apart from the United game in May?

    Does it matter who wanted to leave or how many when we had many who let the team down?
    Only Cesc and Nasri really affected us while they struggled to get rid of some players all summer who were being paid good wages, a few seemed to be in his plans as they took part in the tour and pre-season. Bendtner and Denilson are still our problems in the future cause they are still contracted for longer than next summer and the likes of Squillaci etc are still very much around for the moment.
    At the end of the day it is Wenger’s job to act quickly in the transfer market so we can secure our most sought targets which would boost the club after last season and have a settled squad asap knowing the tough fixture list early on, too much of the summer was taken up by uncertainty especially reading ‘Will Cesc and Nasri go or stay’ got frustrating.
