Cesc denial… Hmmm… – Top Midfielder Linked to Arsenal – BFC Zinger served up tomorrow

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So another one of those Cesc Fabregas interviews he never gave has filtered its way onto the world wide web via Sport Magazine. He’s pretty good at those. Pesky damn journo’s printing lies that will obviously be exposed… Unless of course there was a tape like last time. If the comments were made up, you’d sue. The magazine will know that which is why I question the veracity of the denial. Cesc is a liar, we know this to be true, so let’s not get bent out of shape about it.

“If you look at the team this season I can’t see them finishing in front of teams like Manchester United or [Manchester] City, or Chelsea. There’s just too big a difference between the squads. I respect that Arsenal don’t have the same financial opportunities as the others, but it was part of my decision to leave that I find it hard to see Arsenal winning the Premier League or Champions League in the near future.”

When you read the made up quotes, it’s hard to deny they carry weight. Cesc left to compete, not because Mama’s paella is too good to miss for 9 months of the year, not because he weeps Barca tears night after night and definitely not because all that bunking with Pique on International duty has long term appeal after breaking up with his girlfriend.

If he said it, big deal, Cesc and his thoughts are dead to me…

Bunk with me...

I’m more concerned about Blackburn tomorrow. Their fans are preparing to march against the Venky battery hens repressive housing conditions and the bizarre appointment of Steve Kean. Good for them… Sacking Allardyce, though hilarious and deserved was not deserved. They’ll struggle this year and hopefully we’ll deal them 9 piece Bargain Bucket of the managers special belief recipe.

Inside you get 2 Squillaci's, 2 Denilson's, 3 Winger Nik B's and a Surprise Silvestre

The manager spoke grudgingly of the fact that he’ll be judged on whether we win tomorrow. That’s a novel concept for a football manager on £7mil a year. Think we’ll have a similar set up to the one we had in the week. We’ll need to settle on a starting line up quickly, familiarity breeds cohesion in our case. If we can grind out another win and another clean sheet I think it might be time to start busting out… ‘Arsenal are title contenders‘ headline.

It’ll be a physical game no doubt, but the rough and ready approach won’t be a problem, creating openings will be. We really need someone from midfield to find their feet and most importantly, find the feet of Robin and Gervinho. Theo needs to find a sharpness to his crossing and he needs to recover some of last seasons passing accuracy to take advantage of the acres of space he creates himself. He really should be aiming or 15 assists this season and 42 goals this year. Can you imagine the sort of money Kenny would bid if he did that? He’d bankrupt the universe.

Chezzer will hopefully continue his rip-roaring form tomorrow. Arguments are already starting to surface that he is the new keeping king in the Premiership (pretty much just my arguments), my prediction now is that he’ll make the team of the year this season. He talks, he dominates his area, his kicking has markedly improved and he has that X Factor character Louis Walsh would pine for and possibly make a move on in a night club gents… Allegedly.

What I’m hoping I’ll see more of from this squad is proper team spirit. I don’t mean hugging it out with the opposition after defeat, I mean going after the referee after our player is cut down in the box. I mean intimidating dirty behaviour like United do… looking out for one another. That gives you an advantage and it’s one we’ve ignored for too long. Tomorrow is the perfect place to start.

Fellaini…

David Moyes indicated that selling Arteta could set a precedent. Which, according to the Metro, means we’ll be in for Fellaini. That is a move I’d welcome. He’s a beast in the middle of the park, he’s hugely physical, but also sublimely talented on the ball. Maybe ‘sublimely’ was too strong a word, but he’s a top player and at 23, he would fit into the managers plan nicely. Let’s see where that story takes us…

URGENT REMINDER

Geoff asked me to re-remind you this Friday that Arsene Wenger has called a Global financial melt down in inside the next 3 months. We’ve no idea how he’s sourced information like this. Greece on verge of a default? How did that creep up on everyone except Arsene Wenger! Must be that Economics degree… if only we all had the vision and insight one of those gets you. Anyway, stock up your Sky+ boxes with ESPN Classics, football is about collapse.

Right, that’s your lot for today, I lost my phone last night, if there are any London looters with bare cheap Apple bricks for sale, get in touch via computer post init. Just kidding of course… I’m still serving our my 60 hour community service penalty for stealing one measly 5kg bag of Basmati rice. F*ck the po-lice.

Have a top day Grovers…it’s Friday, get the politically correct jokes rolling in.

P.S. That beer machine I showed you yesterday can pour 56 beers a minute. That’s more than I can drink in an hour!

But honestly, i think today’s post is trying to get some positivity and a little sarcasm before a game we need to win, guys we support this team, surely we want it to win something regardless of the mad professor being there or not….ooops, sorry i forgot, some people want us to fail to prove Wenger is a cunt.

  2. bade the gooner (bernard)

    hilarious dale,

i’d really say geoff speak my voice more that pedro, though i like the lad as well

i just have certain partings with geoff, such as in the case of kozzer

i think he’s good and will turn great, geoff thinks the opposite

    obviously he’ll be found wrong

  3. Lurch LeRouge

fact is when LG needs to have an influence ie AGM time they deliver, and when we need a laugh they deliver.

the decision to stand down from protest came from the AST crew on twitter first, not from LG.

  4. bade the gooner (bernard)

    dale spot on,

i really do think we get fuck all this season, we have a poor squad

still, i’ll support the team whenever we play, no matter where and who plays

i’ll support arsenal and hope to us winning even when we play the world best 11 against our reserves or u-18…..

that’s the case with me, and i’m sure i’m not the only one to think so

  5. bade the gooner (bernard)

now i’m going to try and make meself more handsome than i am usually, some say it is an impossible mission eh?

i’m heading to another boze party, sorry i mean wedding party….. so i hope to find my way back in a couple of hours….

til then remember you all AKBs it is the blog of love :)

  6. Wengers Plastic Bottle

BBC News: Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean banned and given 12 points for drink driving

That’s more than he’ll get at Blackburn this season.

  7. dennisdamenace

Slipping her hand down my pants, she exclaimed “OMG! I can’t even fit my hand around it!

“Would have been the proudest moment of my life, had she not been a Thalidomide”………..!!!!!!!!!

    Ouchy!!

  8. hervedenerve

@incesc It was Pedro who called the team, Wenger and the board a disgrace. It was Pedro who wrote ” It’s time for change” It was Pedro who announced a march before Swansea. Since then we’ve had to swallow the dross signings, performances, poor discipline, the biggest thrashing of our lives and the absolute shame of sitting in mid table on the leagues worst goal difference. Couple that with one player a week going down with a long term injury everything’s fucking great! Wenger out! I know it, you know it and Pedro knows it. Instead he blogs about beer machines, Kentucky fried chicken and Fellaini! Try and remember what used to be spoken about on here, exhilarating mind blowing football, top top players, trophies and winning the league!

  9. ArsenalForever

I know me saying this probably won’t do Pedro’s rep much good!, but I think since Geoff’s absence there has been a much more balanced, journalistic feel to the writing on le grove. Keep it up Pedro!!!

Anyway I’m off, got to see a man about a dog. No really, my mates having girlfriend problems!

  10. Mayank

Fuck the media, fuck Cesc and fuck Man City!

Can we talk about the elephant in the room. Scarlett Johansson.

Makes Megan Fox look like a block of cheese.

  11. incesc

    i dunno then herve

its not my place to defend pedro and what he writes.

i think it might be a bit boring to write wengers a cunt everyday.

  12. naija soccer

So how come we ve had a weaker team since 05 and yet we seem to have played better in the champions league compared to when we had a stronger team 97-2004ish ?

If the invincibles were so great , how come they didn’t at least get to a CL semifinal ?

  13. ArsenalForever

    Naj

It is to do with our style. Then we played a more English game, now we play a more continental game. So then we did well in England and now we do well on the continent. Simples ;-)

  14. kc

I enjoy reading Pedro’s posts, but there is something missing without Geoff’s passionate rants every few days. I miss Geoff.

  15. Mayank

Scarlett can act as opposed to Megan so I like her better. I had a Natalie Portman phase but it passed. The Scarlett thing was needed to restore my interest in celeb culture. Well not really.

  16. SUGA3

besides, fuck the CL, we don’t have a chance of winning it, most fans will tell you that it’s the league that’s the bollocks…

but yeah, let’s readjust the team for the competition we will not win and throw the other three comps in the process, good thinking!

  17. SUGA3

and by the way, the Invincibles may not have gotten too far in the CL, but the 05/06 still had the core made of them:

Jens, Sol, Bobby, Henry, Bergkamp, Freddie, more than half of the team!

  18. GoonerJohn

    SUGA3

we have to try our best in every competition that’s what proffesional sport is all about, it would be acting like losers if we didn’t imo

  20. SUGA3

well, if you tweak the team to do well in Europe, which results in doing not as well in the domestic comps, it just does not make any sense…

then again, if you buy top drawer players, they are more likely to piss all over all comps, simple as that…

  21. goonerjay

hi all… been a long time since i posted since my work blocked the site. great read as always pedro. really enjoyed the grit we showed on tuesday would like to see some more creativity in our midfield. glad to see my friday joke tradition has continued… so heres one for old times sake.

The wife bought me a lovely new rolex for my 40th birthday. “Do you like it ?” she said. “It’s great!” I said “it will remind me of your pussy”. She laughed “is that because its exclusive and sexy?”. I replied “Nah, its a bit loose round my wrist!”

  22. Honest Bill

Song isn’t quite as good as everyone’s making out. He showed promise back in 09, but since has regressed in my opinion. He panics, can’t keep the ball under pressure, or he gets too cocky and starts to imagine he is skillful. All in all he gives the ball away too much.

If he sorts out the mental side of the game, he will be class, and i like the fact that he tries to play more positively and get the ball forward quickly.

  23. naija soccer

    Arsenalforever

i don’t buy the idea that the invincibles didn’t win the champions league bcuz of their English style of play . Man U used the same English style to win the champions league 1999 and 2008. its not like they played total football tipitapi.

    Suga3

Not having Vieira in that 05/06 team makes a BIG difference. its like the present Arsenal team without Cesc.

  24. naija soccer

Moral of the story is Wenger’s strongest squad(invincibles especially) under-achieved big time. They also never won back to back titles.

Not sure thats down to Wenger or the players.

Oh and i ll take a bullet for Scarlett Johansson.

  25. Mayank

SUGA3, I think you’ve got addicted to being wound up on LG. That and bashing Wenger and by extension the perceived AKBs.

To take the phrase “Not sure thats down to Wenger or the players.” and turn it into “not down to Wenger or the players” and make a sarcastic reamark on that premise is a bit baffling.

Now I’m not claiming to speak on behest of Naija but I’m sure he meant he’s not sure who its down to between the two. Don’t think he was claiming its a third party. Which if he did I echo your question and apologise in advance.

  26. Ashburton Patriot

Agreed Honest Bill with your last paragraph
He has improved alot. i used to hate him around 08 and before that but slowly he’s shown his importance.
He’s only 24 for goodness sake. most class DMs are a bit older.
    Bt its an old stooory.

Blackburn is a good test weve regressed in our technical footy but BB will tell us whether we’ve improved physically. Luckily we wont have Flappy Hands getting manhandled in the box. Merte will help us out in corners. KOsc is getting better every game.
Arteta can be rough wen he needs to shava’s picking up. gerv is still shit but hey im more confident about arsenal vs blackburn now than i was last season

  27. Ashburton Patriot

Haha this reminds me of my first ever post i put on ACLF… safe to say i was quite disliked after that…
i said somtin along the lines of AW’s not even that great a manager he had the best team in the world and still couldnt win the champs league.

    i was joking
the cult members didnt find it too funny

  28. Thomas. It's up for grabs now!

    Suga3
Well, yes.. I take your point about it’s the league that matters…. but I personally would give anything to see us lift that CL trophy. We’ve never done it and to make our mark as a great European club we are missing that. (putting present difficulties aside for now!!)

Finishing in the last 8 of the comp every year does not cut it. Does that make us one of the top clubs in Europe.. Well yes to some… I’d prefer to have a win under the belt and have missed a few seasons of getting that far to be honest. Like Real. Been in the doldrums there for a few years in Europe but still have the pedigree and reputation and you know they’ll come round again and win La Liga…. Will top players choose Arsenal or Real… who haven’t done shit in the CL for a few years? It’s going to be Real isn’t it because of the pedigee and reputation. (Yep they are a huge club to boot).

Now that does not mean we should construct our team accordingly and not go out only to win the CL. The league should get our top effort.. and at the same time have a chance in Eur… Look at Man U on wed evening.. Rested players in the CL with an eye on the game on Sunday! And they’ll still have a decent bash at the CL.

For SALE: My testicles in exchange for a CL trophy for Arsenal! ;-)

  29. Mayank

Suga3, again you’ve taken the sentence “Wenger’s strongest squad(invincibles especially) under-achieved big time. They also never won back to back titles.”

And answered it by asking who has assembled the current team?

But you’re right there’s no need to try and go into the inner workings of your mind for that. Knock yourself out.

  30. ArsenalForever

guys take it easy on Naja, the guy raises a very interesting point. Why have we performed better in Europe over the last six years than we did when we dominated English football? I think maybe our total football style suits Europe better, but who knows?

  31. Emyoueffsee

Gambon at 00:40:No-one sees us as a big club any more. Not really accurate.Just because your not seen as having a big title threat this season doesn’t mean your a small club. There’s a succint difference.United went 26 years without winning the league and were still englands biggest club.Arsenal will always be a bigger club than Man city,Chelsea etc.. in my eyes.

  32. naija soccer

oh and suga3 , how can u say fuck the CL ? If we wanna be taken seriously in europe especially when we debate with liverpool and man u fans, then we should always be gunning for it.

P.S If the porto team of 2004 had the same mindset that “we cant win it anyway so lets focus on the league” they would not have won it.

  33. dennisdamenace

Because (poor grammar) Wenger has prioritised the ECL over the EPL, hence the 4th being a trophy bollox…….

It’s quite amazing that Wenger prioritises (my opinion) the competition that he is least equipped to succeed in.

And, now he has found himself in the same position regarding the EPL.

Funny really, the two competitions he has been prioritising recently at the expense of the FA Cup and League Cup, and now he might have to be realistic and swap his priorities around…….

  34. Keyser

It’s a cup competition, you generally need a lot of luck, or you build up the squad and club until the point you can control as much of your destiny as you can.

  35. BOOZY

Kweku Adoboli – the ghanian dude who blew $2billion for UBS.

Not supporting him, but you could empathise with him a little.

its the dream of every trader to make such big breaks -.

I mean most times you might see it as a 50/50 situation, but it isn’t always that, which is why you need to consult more experienced traders to authorize and give advice.

but the guy wanted to become the new soros – now he’s gonna be spending a long time in jail – its sickening.

I wonder what would have happened if his gamble paid off – we seldom hear of such gambles succeeding – cuz corporations dont want to pay the tax that comes with it.

  36. Keyser

It’s not amazing at all, and if you’re realistic it’s pretty simple, footballs about money, the most money comes from the league and especially the Champions League.

United have dominated the Premier League for the last two decades yet they didn’t even want to play in the FA Cup 10 years ago.

  37. SUGA3

I am with ddm on this one, the CL will pan out as per usual:

    - second in the group
    - powerhouse in the quarters
    - ‘honourable’ defeat with a few moments for the AKBs to cling onto

‘if RvP was not sent off’

‘if Aryan Pele was able to control the ball’

‘if my auntie had a cock’

  38. SUGA3

    Mayank,

    - Wenger assembles one ‘best squad ever’ after another

    - Wenger selects the team

    - Wenger does not give a fuck about tactics

    - Wenger sits on his bony French arse in the dugout, getting up only to moan at the ref

  39. Radio Raheem

Completely and wholeheartedly disagree! Sorry mate but you are so far off there it’s untrue.

Arsenal need to stop this Arsenal insider shit with JD, the guy is making a fool of himself on there!

  40. Zacharse

Theo walcott should not start. His pace is not enough. It would be best for him to come on 70 in. Until he gets his shit together

  41. Josip Skoblar

People are talking constantly about “big clubs”. But what’s a “big club”, a real “big club”? Le me float a few criteria: it is a club who wins domestic / European / international titles on a regular basis (and has done so over say the past 50-60 years, i.e. since the start of European competition), a club that have name that is known worldwide, a reputation, a club that field players style that people remember long after some of they have left the club or retired.

On that basis, who are the real “big clubs” in Europe?

    Here is my list:

    UK: ManU Liverpool.
Spain: Real Madrid & Barca (although it is a borderline case for Barca as they have only established themselves as a “big club” in Europe since the 1990s).
    Germany Bayern.
    Italy: Milan & Juve.
    France: none.
Netherlands: none (possibly Ajax, but their brilliance and domination in Europe was too short-lived).
Portugal: Benfica (although they’ve been in decline in Europe over the pas decades).
Belgium: Anderlecht (same remark as for Benfica).

That’s it! Is my list of true great clubs too restrictive? What do you think?

  42. Radio Raheem

    Radio Raheem

haha you mean you got all the descendants of the Hottentot Venus prowling your campus…that’ll make for a great view

  43. Thomas. It's up for grabs now!

    Josip.
You put Anderlecht ahead of AJAX!!!!!… One of only a few teams to have won all 3 of UEFA’s major competition.. 4 times winners of the CL. (EC).

Yep,they’ve not been so great recently as the money in the other European leagues prevents them from really competing.. let’s say a fallen giant.. but still IMO a big European club.

Apart from that.. a good effort! I’d consider Inter also..

  44. Gooby

    Lurch

it would be nice to have arshavin in the middl, we can swap ping pong with arteta, he’s always a red card in the waiting

  45. Josip Skoblar

    Thanks, Thomas.
You’re right, Ajax are ahead of Anderlecht.
I considered Inter, but they’re nowhere near Milan and Juve when it comes to titles (domestic and European), fame, reputation, etc.

  46. BillikenGooner

Big Club can have 2 meanings…

    1) History of success. Needs to be long and mostly successful (ie. can have ups and downs, but overall top) and for most (if not all) needing European success. Pretty simple.

    2) Destination Club. Where do the best players want to go or where do they sign. This can be caused by the above and money.
Modern times lessen the impact of #1, and money is now the more important element.

  47. BillikenGooner

Yeah… but as much as it makes me kinda sick to say it, I’d say as far as world football now goes.. Chelsea are considered a big club.

I’d consider Inter a big club because they have good history and most big players would want to play there..

But, overall, there aren’t that many.

  48. Thomas. It's up for grabs now!

    Josep, Billieken..

I agree with the list… I’m still inclined to include Inter.. 3 times winners of the CL/EC (same as Man U) and 18 time champs in Italy…

I’m more inclined to follow your thinking, in that tradition and achievements are the key criteria… (To called a historic big club)

I also think it’s got to stop around there.. 9-10 teams.. I don’t think teams of the moment can be included..for now! Man City, Chelsea, etc, Even Red Star Belgrade won the CL as did Nottingham Forrest! (2)

Although Man City are certainly the team of the moment without winning the PL or CL yet.. and what about this Russian Team Anzhi… what crazy money they’ve thrown at Inter for Eto (and paying him) and where are they going?

On money leagues Arsenal are one of the biggest sports clubs in the world!

  49. Thomas. It's up for grabs now!

    Billieken..
Yeah.. Chelsea….. but I still think they’ve underachieved with Roman’s dosh.. They’ve fallen short in Europe… Have won 3 PL titles in the last 6 years.. which is bloody decent.. (but the last time before that was 1955!)

I think they’ll decline… slowly over the next few years as the FFP kicks in.. (hopefully!) and the evidence suggests in recent years that they’re moving away from totally depending on his cash.. Still big now but I think their top players have reached their peak… Lampard, Drogba etc… and they no longer corner the market on getting the top players with City around. They can no longer afford to take risks (and not worry about the money) and ditch the players if they don’t cut it.. Mutu, Ballack, Schevchenko, Deco, SWP etc..

Still, a pretty decent squad.. but they have to work harder at it now than they did 4-5 years ago.

  50. TonyS

Hearing RVP will defo not be renewing…..hope its not true but t.b.h I don’t think anyone would be that surprised if it went down that way really.

    sags—Mert—Koz–Santos
    Song–Shava—Rambo
    Theo–RVP–Arteta

Lurch Arteta on z wing ? I wld go with
    szczesny
    sags—Mert—Koz–Santos
    Song–Arteta
    AA
    Gerv–RVP–Theo
4-2-1-3 or 4-2-3-1 this actually could happen there were twitter rumors this morning AA could play the no 10 roll

  53. Lurch LeRouge

its late abnet, im feeling experimental.

arteta on z wing, but nothings fixed of course.

Wenger says Blackburn will be a massive test a bit skeptical coming from him..
Oh well enjoy your Friday night’s, chilling to some Fifa and PES demo’s with dodgy ratings and teamsheets.

  55. Lurch LeRouge

don’t know what to think Gooby.

theres an argument for fielding him as well, Rovers will likely bring the physical game.

  56. OPG

“We were a team on the up and that was not rewarded last year because we were a bit hungry to go for all four trophies,” said Wenger. “We were certainly very close to winning last year and we were suddenly hit by major departures that were not planned. The cycle starts again because we have taken five players.”

    Mostly all we’ve heard before.

  57. Dream10

    OPG

I was just reading that on the Daily Mail.

“We were a team on the up and that was not rewarded last year because we were a bit hungry to go for all four trophies

    I was laughing so hard.

  58. OPG

I wouldn’t say it’s the end of project youth, it’s more like the end of the last batch but then Bendtner and Denilson are only on loan this season.

  59. abnet

i feel the team as squad is better than last but we decline in quality which could be a big factor in big games but i’m more than confident we will win tomorrow

  60. Yandi

    Dream10

Lol, Straight-jacket stuff mate! Crazy old man that. That’s the manager of Arsenal FC speaking… Woulndn’t look out of place in the lunatic asylum really. He’s lost it…

  61. bade the gooner (bernard)

    sug,

people are crazy sometimes, i guess

a player that couldn’t complete more than few games fully fit in a row, then of those he usually had one decent (decent, not superb) game and few craps, then he’s out…..

yeh, i think i the other team would like us to have him over rambo

  62. SUGA3

    bade,

I think this is just a case of people attributing mythical ‘qualidees’ to a player who has been out for so long that people forget how frustrating he is…

Diaby in the middle = zero counterattacking speed, he never plays for the team, trying to dribble through the entire opposition team and losing the ball more often than not!

an epitome of Wenger’s love child, and everything that is wrong with management, always first choice when fit and never subbed when playing shit…

  63. goonerboy

We are second division shit. Rubbish. Its sad but true. Relegation fodder. Wenger and Gazidis are bullshit artists nothing more.

  64. goonerboy

Relegation stares us in the face. Wenger has become dangerous to our health. Losing by 4 goals to Blackburn. He must be sacked now the useless git. Could not organise a defence if his life depended upon it. Absolute embarrassment.
