Spanish creative wizard linked | Mata deal dead, but why? | Liverpool Preview

Pffffffffttt!

That’s how I feel. How about you?

This transfer window has been so bad for us it’s almost amusing. I mean honestly, what could have gone worse this summer? Is this really it? My only hope resting on a player whose name was taken out of a low-budget cartoon network offering (Marvin Martin)? £100million in the bank and the only league we seem to be entertaining for replacements is the 4th strongest?

I’m hoping for a miracle. A Kaka shaped one would do me fine. He’s an amazing athlete, he’s intelligent, fast, creative and he can score goals. That’d shut us all up wouldn’t it? Well, for about 6 minutes, then I’d scream ‘CENTRE BACK’ just to rain on the Kaka parade.

I mean, the way I see it, is Wenger is either going to blow us away with some intent or he’s been given enough rope to hang himself. At the moment I’m feeling the latter. Talk of Everton selling all their best players is interesting, I’d love Fellani and Jagielka. Barclay’s, after posting record profits that’d make you wince are apparently looking to force sales to ease their £45million debt burden, that’s the type of ill-informed decision that took Leeds under… Kenwright said he wouldn’t sell 4 of his players but didn’t mention Arteta… make of that what you will. A very able stop-gap, but painfully injury prone.

Chelsea are now sniffing around Mata for £29million. I’m not sure why that rules him out for us? He’s either good enough or he’s not. From what I’ve seen he’s a top talent. Why should a massive fee scare us off?

You either believe in a player or you don’t. If they’re young, internationally recognised with Champions League experience, £18million or £28million shouldn’t matter… especially when you have cash to burn. If Nasri is worth £25million with a year on his deal, why would we balk at Mata who has a longer contract? If Wenger was serious about us being able to compete with Chelsea in the transfer market last year, he should show us how serious with Mata. I demand it.

I was deeply disappointed to see Lukaku join the Chav’s for 10.7million. A relative bargain for the new Drogba. Hey ho, we have Chamakh and he has great hair.

I just read David Dein’s piece about Wenger. Typical AKB rhetoric. After all, he is the master AKB (Bob Wilson is 2nd in command). People keep warning us of the post Wenger apocalypse… like he’s actually bigger than the club. I disagree. There are managers out there who could match or better what he’s doing. It’s down to Gazidis to sort that out when the time comes. If the club gives me £1.7million a year, I’ll sort it out. I have Phil Brown on speed dial.

Liverpool are up tomorrow. Kenny Dalglish knows how to spend money, he’s a good manager as well. He looks at a players talent, he doesn’t worry about the price. Why would he? He’s a football manager. Leave the finances to the finance guy…

We’ve got a tough challenge. For the first time in a while, this is a Liverpool team with some bite. Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez are a strike force that combine height and tenacity perfectly. Stuart Downing, despite the micky taking is widely regarded as the better buy compared with Young (I know this because the Villa fan that sits next to me at work speaks for all Villa fans in the universe). Henderson will snap away at our heals all afternoon. Charlie Adam is dangerous from set plays and he’s not a bad passer.

Our best chance is to take advantage of their weakness at the back. Carragher is slow and erratic at times and their back 5 looks far from settled.

Arsenal are without Gervinho, Song, Gibbs, Cesc, Nasri, Bendtner, Eboue and JD. That means a chance for Frimpong and possibly a rumoured outing for Ryo Miyachi… surely not? Traore will slip in at left back, which should be fun. He has all the ingredients to be a great player, bar a brain.

We have to pick up the pace of our play. Too often we allow the opposition dictate pace. We need to show urgency and play with the intensity United and Chelsea did at the weekend. I want to see that the result matters to the boys. I want to see a bit of passion. I want to see someone emerge as a leader.

Bringing Frimpong into the fold will help, he’s a driving force. He’s sloppy at times, but so was Flamini. His energy puts teams onto the back foot. It forces mistakes. It allows us to break at speed.

I’m confident we’ll win tomorrow… that might be last nights booze still coursing through my veins, but regardless. Tomorrow could be a grand day. Today’s was a post brought to you with an immense hangover. Apologies if it had the energy of a Pat Rice team talk.

Share you team in the comments and if you want to have every Monday off for a year, check out this competition from Yahoo.

but anyway lets talk lurch, im sexy! i earn 400million a year and im going to dump a very hot woman tomorrow! so there!

    but arsenal make me sad

  2. Maciek

I just don’t understand this naive comments about Cahill, Mata, Hazard, Eto’o and many more quality players.

We all know Wenger won’t sign a centre back since he believes Verm and Kos will do the job and Squilacci is good enough to be our 4th cd.

He “believes” that Gibbs is ready( he won’t sign a lb and he won’t sign a big cdm, since it would have killed Song and Frimpong.

Chamakh will remain at the Club. And if Nasri is sold we will buy this Jadson and that’s all.

Spurs will remain with VDV and Modric, will buy Adebayor, Diarra and maybe even Kaka and Chelsea have sign Mata.

United will sign Snijder and we as usual will make 50m+ profit.

As long as wenger and Gazidis with PHW are in charge nothing will change.

This old clown has paid 12m for Chamberlain but has abused O’M offering them a loan deal for Gonzalez.LOL. What a JOKER.

And today Pool wi;ll trash us and Udine as well in 3 days time. The end of Wenger’s regime is near.

We are a joke. Spurs have more ambition than we have. I detest this whole Emirates Stadium project cr*p. I would rather stayed at Highbury with Dein watching quality players.

A joke of a Club. And all the transfer rumours are just cr*p.

    A joke.

The fact remains, we literally fell over the 4th spot line last season, another couple of games and Pool would’ve nicked it. How can these deluded AKB’s defend such a pathetic demise in performance, blame can only be leveled at the manager surely. Even Phil Brown would’ve gained more points & he’s an undisputed cock of the highest order.

Defend the man as much as you like but the last couple of months laid bare the man’s management failings. No possible excuses are valid, so don’t even bother. It was total meltdowm and has continued in the same direction since. Yet Stagnant still remains silent…..the cunt!

    Maciek

wilshere, rvp. song (haha)) and gervinho

i think we will go through, but its gonna be a hell of a game!

we need a miracle but yeah it can be done. I think downing’s long balls on to Carroll’s head are probably the biggest threat, neutralise that and Dirk Kyut and we’re halfway there.

fortunately we’re at home, I think the crowd will be up for it.

as it happens, if you were going to blood the kids in, there aren’t many better ways of doing it – its just damn risky.

Wenger actually thinks his rhetoric makes sense. We could lose 7-1 and he would say, “The team deserves credit for the goal. We played well for 65 minutes and until they scored 7 more. We also dominated possession which is very important in a game like this.”

  8. JJ

I don’t know why everyone who knows Wenger says that he sets his standards very high for himself. Wenger seems to be very satisfied with going as far as she can on a shoe-string budget.

Not that he has a shoe-string budget. He just likes the built in excuse that comes with it. That and, “the team is very young and will learn from this…”

    From insidefutbol… Saturday, 20th August, 2011

Marseille boss Didier Deschamps has revealed that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wanted to take Argentine midfielder Lucho Gonzalez to the Emirates, but the offer made for his services was unacceptable.

Marseille would play ball for the right price, but Deschamps has explained that Wenger wanted Gonzalez on loan, a proposal that was simply unacceptable to the French giants.

“Arsene Wenger is convinced that Lucho is a great player who could be helpful for his team”, Deschamps told L’Equipe.

“But he wanted him on loan, an offer that was unacceptable to us.”

The 30-year-old landed at Marseille in 2009 and instantly helped the club to win the 2009/10 Ligue 1 title.

Wenger’s approach for Gonzalez offers clues as to his thinking, with the Arsenal boss desperate to replace the departed Cesc Fabregas and the departing Samir Nasri. However, the Frenchman is also keen not to splash out huge sums of money if possible.

Nice tits at 2:48 lurch – think i may have to bring the wee fella for a walk….

  12. tiarnan

Seriously? longest ive been dry in maybe 10 years is prob 10 days – thats pretty bad…

whats the beastival? a fortnight of bumfuggery with scantily clad animals? u gonna dress up as aleister crowley?

  13. tiarnan

duno what does my youtube say? top o the mornin!!

I blanketed that across every video i cud find – like sendin a flare out …glad it was spotted haha

  14. Errol

    Chezzers
    Sagna—–Sakho/Cahill(25m)—–Verm—–Kos/Gibbs
    Song/Frimpong
    WIlshere—–Montelivo/Martin(25m)
    Gervinho/Walcott–RVP/Sturridge(20m)–Hazard/Varane/Mata(30m)

    Total = 100m

This team would be unbelievable. Marvin/Montelivo coupled with wilshere would be running that midfield feeding quality balls all day long. Hazard/Mata/Varane would undoubtedly contribute a decent amount of goals and skinned rb’s to the mix. Our defense would be solid w/ the addition of either sakho/cahill and interchangeable with kos at LB. Add a cf to have an option once RVP gets done in. Mix in some of our new youth throughout the season. I feel this team could definately challenge for titles and grow for years.

    Thoughts?

  15. tiarnan

Frimpong and Nasri will run the show tomorrow – but other than that who knows what will happen….

But what I do know is – if Kung Fu Hill Billy ever gets made into a movie – Ill be first in line – good nite my man and ill be on tomoro for the game for sum banter ;)

  18. Mayank

Just saw some of the vids posted here. Whatever happened to chord progressions? And melody lines that occasionally go outside the octave they start in. And lyrics that are anything but cryptic.

I feel like an old man complaining about it.
