Wenger is delusional… | Cesc Fabregas is a disgrace | Finally… our season is over…

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Season over… thank god for that. He let us down on the rapture, but at least he finally took a paving slab to our season that seems like it’s been on its last legs forever.

The game was bland and uninspiring as ever. We conceded first as usual. JD played Zamora onside, Gibbs tried to scramble back but couldn’t catch his man, the ball was cut back to none other than Steven Sidwell… and he placed his shot past Chezzer.

It didn’t take long to equalise, Diaby and Chamakh played a nice one two, Diaby slipped Robin in who finished clinically by firing his shot low and hard past Schwarzer.

The game ambled along. Fulham nearly caught us off guard again when Danny Murphy nicked the ball past Chezzer… Vermaelen was on hand for a last ditch goal line clearance of exceptional quality.

The second half opened and it wasn’t long before we were down again. Sagna failed to cut out a cross from outwide, Johann Djourrou missed the ball by miles, Thomas Vermaelen and his super leap weren’t enough for Bobby Z… he knocked his header past the keeper easily.

Zoltan Gera managed to earn a red card for a very dangerous challenge on Tommy V.

Arsenal failed to take control, failed to show any urgency and looked extremely likely to finish the season with even a point!

The crowd began to sing, ‘SPEND SOME F*CKING MONEY’… as they sang that, Theo Walcott took centre stage and finished well to secure the points.

A point was all we could manage, 3rd place had alluded us and the only thing Wenger could say when he was interviewed was, ‘even if people say you have to spend money we have to be realistic. We can’t buy players for £50million. That is a fact.’

For fu*ks sake Wenger... I mean, d'oh!

You know what Arsene, I’ve never read anyone suggest you sign a £50million player. How about you start with the basics. You know, like signing a £4million keeper when you need one? Or perhaps try spending more than £8million on an experienced defender when you’ve just let a world cup finalist go on a free to Spurs. Your thrifty buys might look nice on the balance sheet, but out on the pitch, they’re uglier than Luka Modric in a maxi dress.

Making out signing players is the toughest job in the world kind of makes a mockery of our massive scouting network. It’s funny how we never have a problem signing 17 year olds isn’t it? We have just as much competition for those players, maybe even more. Wenger says quality isn’t linked to price. Now, in some cases this is true, but in most cases, you get what you pay for.

Wenger is only interested in signing undervalued players, that’s where the problem is. He thinks about price first, quality second. Which is why we’re always going to struggle to find the right players. Why? Because there aren’t many world class players on the market for under £10million. Perhaps as we can afford it, we should start shopping in more up market places?

I also think someone should ask Wenger about Cesc Fabregas and his little jaunt over to Barcelona for the Grand Prix. Ok he’s injured, but he’s still on the pay roll. He’s still our captain and as I saw it, the season wasn’t over until after the Fulham game. Why is he taking his holidays early? Why is he rubbing the fans faces in it by going over to Barcelona of all places? His behaviour is really quite unbefitting of a Captain. He should be lying low at the moment. The most frustrating thing is we all know he’ll be back in London as the guest of honour for Barcelona when they play Manchester United at Wembley next Saturday.

People will say he was spending some time with his family… well you know what? I like spending time with my family too, but sometimes you owe a committment to the people who pay you £120k a week. You know what else? He has the money to fly his family over here. Easyjet do great deals on flights and London is a pretty cool place to take your family. Also… he could have seen his family next week. They’re not going anywhere. His decision was totally selfish just like his behaviour was last summer.

Wenger has no control over his players. The players have no respect for the club and if recent Denilson/Cesc interviews are anything to go by… there is no respect for his philosphy. Project Youth products complaining about the system that gave them a career break. How ironic…

His bizarre unsubstantiated ramblings in press conferences are making him sound delusional. Why is he moaning about financial doping again? I’d rather have an unsustainable model like Chelsea’s or United’s and pay their ticket prices than operate on a model which is almost unsustainable for the fans. Wenger might think Arsenal’s set up is perfect, but he’s not the one forking out a large percentage of his salary for a ticket… he’s not the one seeing no investment off the back of it. Unless of course you count club level extensions as investment?

Football is a global business now. When Wenger says you can’t always expect someone to come in and bail you out… he’s wrong. If you’re a big enough club, there will ALWAYS be someone ready to bail you out. Look at Barcelona and their Qatar deal, look at Liverpool and how their fortunes have turned around, look at how many groups are desperate to buy a United that is indebted up to its eyeballs. It’s a stupid argument. I’m not suggesting we go down that route, I’m merely pointing out that complaining about it is pointless.

Sugar Daddies are not going to disappear. Successful business men are not going to give us the advantage with FFP by playing by the rules. Money in the game is not going to disappear… nor will the bubble of Premiership football burst. If the greatest recession of modern times couldn’t take it down… nothing will. So stop whinging…

Our coach has lost touch with reality. He is delusional. He genuinely believes his team are really close. Today we just matched our worst ‘goals against’ since 1999, conceding 43 goals (A bizarre season, we finished 2nd and United finished first conceding 45). To find a worse figure before that, you’d have to go back to 1994 when we conceded 49 and finished 12th! Our goals conceded tally has happened after Wenger specifically identified defence as an issue last summer, the summer before and the summer before that!

What makes us think he is going learn this year?

Chelsea sacked Carlo Ancelotti last night for finishing 2nd in the league a year after winning the double. We’ve just had one of the worst finishes to a season I can remember and Wenger’s job is still the safest in the Premiership. There is something wrong with that. It’s worse because he knows he is invincible. That’s why he can rolls out and says the antagonistic things he does.

Like I said last week, I’m absolutely done with him. I have no expectation that he has it in him to change. I have no expectation he’s going to do what he needs to this summer and I have a horrible inkling this is going to end in a sacking next season.

Roll on the summer… we’ll know within a month whether he’s following the usual summer script.

Has a deal been done to sell Scotty Parker to Arsenal? That’s what a source tells me. Rather Arsenal than Spurs anyday!

I can see Wenger getting the sack next year but it would take this combination:

Lack of quality transfer signings + Losing CL qualifier + Poor run of results in PL.

  4. zeus

Clearly we have to do better next year. There were quite a few anomalies last season. Man Utd drawing as many games as they did so early on even with their notorious slow start. Chelsea also having their worst run in a decade.

We did us essentially. I expect Man Utd and Chelsea to go back to consistent ways next year. Else it will be like 06 again, out by November.

  5. Hussain

Hearing news from Twitter, Scott Parker and Ricky are done deals!
Brilliant if true, just goes on to show Wenger’s intent

Wenger won’t get sacked, not by this board. The only way he would leave prematurely is if his bunny boiler tart in Paris kicks it off big time in the papers, he might then feel obliged to step aside perhaps. Someone mentioned super injunctions and Arsenal “players” earlier, are they sure?

If Denilson & Bendy are off then it saves Arsene the heart wrenching decision I suppose, shame Diaby has made no such indication. I’d like to think even Arsene has the savvy to show both Squilaci & Almunia the door, possibly Flappianski also which would then leave the door open for another Goalie.

And as for the Emirates Stadium, was it not Wenger that was consulted regarding the design of the place? If so why are the 2 ends so far from the pitch exacerbating the problem of fans connecting to players. Or was it a master stroke in the anticipation of disappointed future crowds. Seriously though, if it wasn’t intended to put in extra seats with further planning permission then it was pretty damned stupid.

Good to see Gigg’s cover finally publicly blown, just needs the likes of Gerrard etc to be outed now. These players are simply trying to protect their lucrative image rights, images that are manipulated to present role models, images that are clearly based on lies. They should not be allowed to deceive their fans like this.

You wouldn’t believe what I heard tonight about Berbatov and us, can’t see it myself though, altho did hear a whisper about an Arsenal signing which may shock all, havn’t got the name yet, but its meant to be unlike wenger signing

  8. wellington

this giggs story aint nothing compared to the one soon to come out, he has been having an 8 year affair with his brothers wife

also patrice evra had a threesome with his agent and some brass and played around with his agent (male)

rio ferdinand paid for abortion for a women after he got her pregnant while his wife was pregnant

frank lampard is having an affair

chamakh was involved in that threesome in vegas with swedish hookers who have video evidence

these are all soon to break in next 6 months

    anyway scotty parker

  9. zeus

You guys still believe in twitter?

Where on twitter do u find these things might I ask?

Is there an Arsenal rumors page.

  10. Patthegooner

Twitter is football-rumours.com on steroids, never read so much bollox in my life

It will be kun aguero to arsenal next!!!!!

  11. tiarnan

Other rumours set to rock the media world over the next 6 months:

Harry Redknapp has fathered two children by 2 different women from 2 different countries with 2 different names in 2 separate beds at different times of the year

Chris Samba used to be a girl and is currently having an affair with 3 players from Bolton

Carlton Cole was seen out dogging with his namesake Ashley Cole – and both of them have been having an affair with the same mystery woman – and she in turn has been having an affair with the ghost of Jade Goody – and they have adopted 2 demon entities thru the netherworld adoption agency http://www.ouija-babies.com

Martin Keown is not known to be having any affairs.

  12. zeus

Navas, Aguero, Cole AND Parker? Fuck me. We mean business.

I salute all these rumors with my middle finger.

  13. zeus

I can’t imagine him going to Madrid. Seems a bit too ‘loyal’ for that. Madrid clubs changing players, I don’t see it. Rarely happens and the Prez at Atletico would be chased out of town unless he gets TOP DOLLAR for the transfer.

  14. Gooby

according to twitter cygan is training at Colney to keep his fitness level up.

Wenger is considering giving the experienced french a pay as you play contract after he identified defense as the cause of recent failure

  15. Lurch LeRouge

    haha all good.

actually don’t think anything arse related could yank me from the ‘meh’ funk

  16. SUGA3

the transfer window in England is now open and we can talk to players in their last six months or something like that, we can also do some pre-contractual stuff?

  17. Lurch LeRouge

the ever-expanding-all-consuming-nebulous-judgement-day monster is alive and well it seems.

  18. Pier

Brilliant post by jekyll over at onlinegooner, and sums up perfectly how I feel as well. At this time of night I really haven’t got the energy left to add anything….but believe me there is plenty more rope to hang wenger with…..

“It’s a situation that requires a bit of humility from Wenger, but he’s simply incapable of it. His response to fans chanting ‘spend some money’ is to say we can’t spend £50m on one player. His response to the collapse to 4th is to say ‘maybe one year you’ll realise how hard it is finish in the top 4 every year’. To suggestions of shaking up the coaching staff he says ‘it will be difficult to find a coach who can teach me how to manage a team’. It’s this patronising attitude, this arrogance, that’s as offputting as his inability or unwillingness to address the fundamental and obvious weaknesses the team have had for years.

This kind of manner is the opposite of what Arsenal were supposed to be about when I was growing up (even when we had a crap team) and it’s embarrassing to be identified with.”

  19. Moray

haha Arsenal to sign Aguero…we wouldn’t pay for his little finger.

And Navas gets homesick – though a winger like him is on our required list.

  20. zeus

Its never really been stated because frankly, I stopped caring about this Arsenal since the end of last season, but was anyone else offended when Wenger dissed the fans by saying:

‘Lets not listen to people who have not worked half a day in football.’?

I was most offended. I know I’m an armchair pundit, but as a paying Arsenal fan (of kits and such) I think my opinion should at least be taken under consideration.

  21. zeus

So its true Aguero wants out, officially speaking. Only 4 clubs can afford that asking price though, Man City, Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

I would sell my left nut to have him play for Arsenal.

  22. OPG

QPR want Spahic apparently, remember him?
Would he have made a difference rather than Squillaci?
I think we’ll sign a PL CB anyway by the looks of things but something to ponder from last summer.

  23. Kushagra India

Our midfiled provides no screening no matter whom we buy our manager seems to know no defence….

  24. Danny

We dont need no Parker, Young, Cahill nor do we need Hazard. We’ve got loads of talent. We need a winner. We dont have ONE in the team. Lets put 50 m down on Zlatan. Hes a badass who hates losing, even at practice. He wins wherever he goes and he’ll kick the shit out of anyone who doesn’t give their all.

  25. Man

Who says we didn’t win trophies this season? ;)

61% – Arsenal were the only team who averaged over 60% possession this season.

9 – Arsenal saw nine opponents sent off, a 2010-11 high, all nine of them were straight red cards.

1104 – Arsenal made more touches in the opposition penalty area than any other side in 2010-11.

75% – Arsenal had the best pass completion in the attacking third.

15 – No other side scored more goals in the opening 15 minute period of the first half (13) or second half (14) than Arsenal in the Premier League this season.

  26. Man

53.5% – Arsenal conceded the highest proportion of the goals from set-piece situations this season in the Premier League.

142 – Denilson made the most touches in a single game, 142 for Arsenal away at Wigan….ahh the great Denilson!

  27. Hussain

    HOLY FUCKING CHRIST!
Look at the players are we linked with, I swear i am gonna faint now, Parker, Navas, Aguero, HOLY FUCKING SHIT WE MEAN BUSINESS

PERHAPS WENGER MIGHT NOT BE SENILE ANYMORE EH?

  28. R.S.P.C.Arsenal

on xfm this morning they said arsenal and liverpool had a fee of around 8m for parker….. now we have let better palyers go wjhen they have reached 30., so why would we now be buying a 30 year old…for a mid 20′s person required!

  29. Moray

Hussain, check out the lists of players we were linked with every closed season, and it is of similar quality. Then compare with the players we “almost” signed (Reina, ronaldo) and those we rejected (Ibrahimovic, Yaya, Villa) and finally look at those players we did sign (Kozzer, Fabianski, Chamakh, Squillachi etc). It is the final list which is the most relevant. It is highly likely we will sign any of those you list above, unfortunately, including Parker, who is not “Arsenal” enough for us, I believe, even though his hair is reminiscent of the 1920s gentleman spiv that is PHS…

  30. R.S.P.C.Arsenal

rather than parker, we should look to sign a player like karl henry… younger… puts it about winning mentatily
