Brazilian interest mounts | Who is your Arsenal nearly 11? | Roma star linked

by & filed under Uncategorized.

There’s nothing quite like a night of free booze to kick off your morning… so this is going to be quick—ish.

First things first, we always have that moment in a season when Arsene tells us that he missed out on the seasons sensation 3 years ago because Peter Hill-wood left his biro at home. Well, this morning, Alex Ferguson has revealed that he nearly joined Arsenal way back in 1986 after Don Howe. He didn’t in the end because Arsenal had a plan b and insisted on an answer he couldn’t give.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we were that cut throat now instead of waiting until the last minute to told no?

Imagine that? Alex joining the Arsenal… things would have been different. I’m not sure he would have had quite the same success. After all, George Graham didn’t exactly do a bad job at the start. I believe that fate sent him the way of United and he was the perfect match for them. I don’t think he’d  have come to us and offered us the same consistency. It’d be interesting to do the greatest team of players we nearly bought… and the best managers we nearly signed.

Off the top of my head… Bobby Robson, Christiano Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, Bixente Lizarazu, Patrick Kluivert, Michel Platini, John Barnes, Ronald/Frank De Boer and obviously Wayne Rooney. I’m not sure if I told you last year that we were in for him? Well, if I didn’t, apparently we were in for him before United and he even came down to the training ground. I’m pretty sure I was told he undertook a medical as well?

I definitely told you Joe Hart was deemed ‘not good enough’ when he was at the Shrewsbury or wherever he was!

Put together your greatest team of nearly signings and see where you come out!

In other news, it’s that time of the season where agents start threatening their players clubs with a move to Arsenal. Standard is that Melo, after another crap season could be on his way to Arsenal. I really liked him at the world cup last year. He’s a bit mental, he’s very fast and he’s very good at picking up ridiculous red cards. That used to be the Arsenal way!

Sadly, I don’t think we’ll ever see him at the Arsenal… I’m sure my Italian friends would agree that’s probably not a bad thing.

We’ve also been linked to Jeremy Mendez of Roma. I can’t even muster a comment about that. Fact is, if I haven’t heard of him in the LG comments section, I’m not going to google his wiki. That is one thing I’ve learned through my blogging career… our commenters are some of the best scouts around… if I was working with Arsenal, I’d suggest dropping their own expensive network and crowdsourcing players from Le Grove. Not sure how that’d go down!

Vertoghen is being linked with us and Manchester City this morning. Off the record, I heard the other day that Manchester City’s chief scout actually doesn’t do that much work. He finds out who we’ve been monitoring for 6 years and makes a judgement call from there. If Harry Redknapp is to be believed, City are going to sign some mega players this summer. I’m not sure who they’ll line up to manage them next season. Maybe after Peter Crouch gifted Mancini 4th place last night he’ll keep his job. You have to laugh though… they’ve spent a gazillion pounds on talent and they play like Stoke. How embarrassing for the Arabs!

How about Spurs though? Things have really turned sour for them recently, Liverpool might ruin their Thursday nights next year by stealing their European place! That really would be hilarious. No Europe with players as big time as RvDV, Bale and Modric… whatever will they do? They’ve also lost out on the Olympic stadium which is hilarious from a future revenue point of view. Oh, and Harry still hasn’t been to court about that unpaid tax bill.

Club in crisis?

Absolutely.

That sort of news gets me out of bed in the morning. Oh, and going to a Fashion and Beauty PR seminar… I can’t wait to do loads of learning and stuff.

Right, I think that’s about it… I’ll be going to the final game of the season, so if anyone wants to hang out and drown their sorrows with Peroni, I’m sure there will be some Grover’s meeting after the game, keep your eyes peeled to the comments section! Also, I have some people looking to loan season tickets next year, contact me if you’re interested!

Have a great day and remember to drop your nearly 11 into the comments!

    Santos

    That was a great article.

I agree we need a striker but i dont think we need a Winger as much as we need a CB.

I think we have enough creativity in Arshavin, Theo, and Nasri to pull through.

    Cesc needs immediate replacing though.

  2. Gooby

menez is a really good player , not that consistent though

rumors are suggesting we’re having a clear out this summer, witch is very unlikely

imo: denilshit, almunia, bendy will leave for sure.
    maybe: arshavin

  3. Santos

I wont be pleased if Fabregas leaves us to join another English club esp City. He may do well by going to Inter or Madrid( if they sell Kaka).

  4. Gooby

cesc won’t join any other English club, it’s barca or nothing for him. And barca don’t have the money so i think he’s staying

  5. Wenger Out Colonel Gaddafi In

Alfie, you believe that Cesc is worth £50mn!? £35mn at best methinks.
    £15mn for Sturridge is cool.
Although if Citeh offers anywhern near 45-50 for Fabregas, then Wenger will sell him off even before AKBs could give it a thought.
Wilshere quickly posted a pic of him kissing the badge as soon as his name got linked with ManCity – lets see if Cesc does the same…

(On the other note, Chelsea would still be in title race had they played Sturridge instead of Torres over these months)

  6. Man

I think we might end up loaning out these players as I don’t see there being any demand for them except for, maybe, Eboue? But, I’d like him to stay…he’s a decent right back!

  7. zeus

    Morning All?

As for Jeremy, he has been mentioned here. I remember him beig linked with us in 2008 in the same time as we were linked with Afellay and Hatem Ben Arfa. He okay I suppose.

  8. ice

Buonosera, let’s just keep to the facts and avoid the speculation…this is a quiet week with not a lot going on although we see the final applause to Cesc v’s Aston Villa this weekend and the start of a new phase for the team. Most is guess work from the gutter press and web speculators and the new manager and his staff (may be Arsene will stay)will have to mould a new pattern and formation to match the big teams next campaign. For sure the players want 442, but the game is far more complex now than even 5 years ago with rotational players and astute coaches. No doubt though a new deputy right defender will come in and also a specialist left defender through necessity. The rest is only guess work until next season’s management structure and plan is in place…happy holidays!

    SUGA3
Im a gentle clairvoyant one, if thats true.

    David.
I agree with Pedro that the other big clubs will still dope. They will still find another way to break the FFP regulations. Clubs like Barca who do not spend what they generate. I admire Madrid and Bayern in the way they run the busin ess, you know.

  10. zeus

    Ice

Just stop it. No one is buying this. You know its easy for the mods over here to check your IP address and see if your email is familiar right?

I don’t believe a word of this. The only person that knows who is coming and going is Wenger and Gazidis and a few board members.

  11. SUGA3

the game is complex, boo fucking hoo!

no, it’s really simple, if you are a better team and you put an effort in, you win the games, simple as that!

  12. Santos

    Ice is back!!

    Boozy.
I dont really care about the transfer money from City. Cesc is the best player we have. He is the best in his position, okay behind Xavi. But if we get a good amount from a non-English club, fine then!

    Ozil is better than Cesc.

    ————————-

    Nobody is better than Cesc.

Not as a CM, Not as an AM,

not even as a DM when hes up for it.

  14. finestcuts

Silly season has well and trule begun, we’re being linked with loads of players……..fans have their tongues hanging out in the hope we’ll sign one or two, every young player with a shred of talent will claim that Arsenal have approached them so we’ve got to be patient.
City have long said they’d like to buy Fabregas so there’s no excuse to sell him to Barca for a discounted price if City are prepared to pay what we want. Would Cesc go to City? Probably not. It’s gonna be an interesting summer.
Sevilla want Denilson, we should tie that deal up ASAP before they change their minds.

  15. SUGA3

nice ploy to avoid getting the fuck booed out of the players!

last season they hid behind their kids, bunch of cowards, this time it’s the final salute to Cesc who does not deserve that?

    what next?

  16. SUGA3

    finest,

for the first time in a VERY long time, I am going to give the game a miss as getting shitfaced with my mate is WAY more important!

and I remember being at a wedding party and going to see the game in the other room at the venue a few years ago!

  17. finestcuts

lol Suga……..we’ll let you off just this once. We still have 2nd place to fight for, but of course most fans are disillusioned with this team and want Wenger to shake things up, so hopefully in the summer Wenger will do what it takes to be competitive right up until the end of the season.

  18. BillikenGooner

I think it is either Barca or Italy for Cesc this summer.

Barca, he gets what he wants.
Italy, he gets what he wants in 2 years and he’s away from the stagnant morass that is Arsenal.

  19. BOOZY

    ok this isnt rocket science-
    option A
    benzema or higuain- 25mil
    hazard – 25 mil
    sahko – 15 mil

    total 65 mil

    OPTION B
    or keep cesc.

    i’ll take option A anyday.

  20. SUGA3

    finest,

as you may have read before, I am hardly going to go anywhere near a computer for at least the three weeks I will go to Poland to speculate about the players we will not sign…

obviously, I will visit LG every now and then, but I just don’t feel like this club is worth that much attention anymore – doubting Thomas? you bet your ass I am!

as far as I am concerned, Wenger can go fuck himself!

  21. David

There are alot of players we can get off madrid

Anyone of the Diarra’s would do.

Id take Alex from the chavs since Luiz is first choice now

  22. SUGA3

    David,

yeah, thing is that Chavs, unlike Wenger’s Arsenal are not stupid enough to have no cover in the position, are they?

  23. Kushagra India

Xavi is better than Cesc in a deep lying roll as I always say ask Aragones,Bosque….and next season if he goes Guardiola….

  24. David

    Suga

Im sure Alex was first choice before maybe we can turn him by offering first team football??

    Kush

When it came down to it Cesc won his country the WC. Not Xavi

  25. Kushagra India

David that pass you could have made, RED card helped things and I am talking at the moment maybe in 2 years time if he keeps fit

  26. zeus

    Kush

A deep laying role is Cesc’s best position. He said so recently in that interview where he said Arsenal are gonna decide whether they want to develop kids or win trophies.

okay, he has done superbly weill in an advanced position after being absolute shit in the position (especially against the big teams Chelsea and Man Utd) when he was first tried there in 2009 I think when Wenger decided to copy Benitez’s 4-2-3-1 formation with Gerrard playing further forward.

  27. David

Yeah but Cesc off the ball movement was world class and basically made the goal from deep midfield.

Im sorry i cant stand Xavi

  28. zeus

    Kush

When was the last time u watched an Italian game. The San Siro holds about 80k and unless they play a big side, they barely get half the stadium capacity in attendance.

  29. Jerry

If it’s Barca then £25-30M very tops but in an open auction (including Citeh of course) then £45-50M is possible. We should take the highest bid for Cesc if we do actually have any choice in the matter, down to the player though I fear & he want’s Barca who are skint.

  30. Kushagra India

IMO Xavi is better in possession than anyone hardly u will see him making a wrong pass…..

  31. Kushagra India

Thats what they changed after the 2006 world cup tiki-taka…and no one does it better than Xavi and Iniesta ….Messi pushes them to new level and that’s why I think its futile to copy them as fervently as we try to do…

  32. SUGA3

tickets are still available for the Villa game!

can you believe this shit? Cesc’s farewell in a half-empty stadium will sum it all up nicely, eh?

  33. David

    Reasonable targets

    Zhirkov

    Alex

    M.Diarra/L.Diarra

    Neymar

    Sahin

    Sergio Ramos

    Neur

    Merteseckar

    Mats Julian Hummels

    Gabriel Milito

  34. Kushagra India

SUGA whatever but one thing is sure Madrid can really dominate Europe for many years after the FFP is applied..

  35. MARK GOONER

roll on transfer window this end of season is bollocks

this cesc situation needs resolving first

then 20-23 mil bid for benzema and then 15-18 for hazard

    then wake up

then sign oxade chamberlain and jenkinson

    then start the season

  36. Gooby

de rossi or schweinchteirgererszzr(or whatever it’s spelled could be good replacement

add a bit of steal in that midfield

    *********

What about the joke of a defense. Tv5′s partner at Ajax is a good option no? According to a Dutch league pundit on goal.com, he is more aggressive and braver than vermaelen.

  38. Le Profarter

One of my mates, who works in a London agency has just informed that Arsenal have signed young French defender Florian Lejeune.

  39. Kushagra India

Suga I think that will be sorted out not such a big issue…is it..infact RVP once suggested Arsene to sign him ,I think it was the Amsterdam Cup…

  40. Gooby

We are in for florian lejeune, plays for istres in the french second league. He’s 19!

    happy days?

  41. Kushagra India

Gooby we need steel and creativity as well if Cesc leaves Wilshere,Ramsey not ready yet…

  42. zeus

25m for Cesc?!!! hahahaha. Don’t know how to address that. Barca are skint so we should accept it.

Lets go to Madrid and tell them we only ever spend 17m on one player, so give us Ronaldo, its onlt the right thing to do.

  43. Gooby

    kushagra

they are both creative players, and we’ll have nasri too if cesc goes. In my opnion should cesc go or not we have to replace song in the starting line up.
—de rossi–wilshere–fellaini/parker/m’villa seems like a good midfield.

    very unlikely though

  44. Steve Biko

Whatever Happens If we sell Cesc then I would rather have a player exchange than money as Wenger will not spend. I like rumours of part exchange with Inter involving Sneidjer and Etoo.

  45. Dutchman

Can’t believe that ppl here still thinking that we can’t compete. No, we can’t buy a 60m player, but we can buy a 30m player such as Hazard. Players like inbrahimovic and robinho are coming to city for 50m but they ain’t worth it. You can better buy Hazard for 30m and that’s the money we have. City and Chelsea can’t buy all topplayers, so stop talking that loads of shit please! And if we sell Fabregasm then we can even buy a 60m player! But wenger won’t do it.

Gooner786, Perfect News!!! I hope that it is no bullshit, i want wenger out!

  46. TOMTOM

Cant say I’m excited about seeing Djourou starting next season,he really did look shit in the last ten games and if he is our first choice centre back we really are fucked. Verm is also overrated so if Wenger wont sign one or two quality centre backs I cant see how we will win trophies when our defence is so weak,it also wont help that our defensive midfielder cant defend or even read the game well.

  47. sixx pac

This Dutchman dude is getting so worked up over transfer rumors lol. Mate take it easy and mind u blow a fuse. Get ur bong out and enjoy the summer eh?

  48. SUGA3

    Dutchman,

this IS bullshit, WHOAG march is NOT a ‘Wenger out’ protest, Arsenal Action is a rabid anti Wenger site, gives the DooM™ raiders a bad name…

this is not how you approach the problem: no one is going to treat you seriously if you are spitting feathers left, right and centre!

  49. TOMTOM

Why would we pay 30 million for Hazard? He scored a few goals for a shit team in a shit league. Wenger would just make him play tippy tappy bullshit and he will be just another average player on our books. Lay off the weed Dutchman.

  50. TOMTOM

Djourou was making mistakes before his injury so he cant blame a slight shoulder injury for his pathetic displays

  51. TOMTOM

I dont think you can blame fatigue, did Vidic suffer from fatigue? Mental fatigue maybe from having to play alongside players such as Squillaci and Kos. I’m mentally fatigued from just looking at them.

  52. sixx pac

Hazard scored a few goals for a shit team in a shit league? What a ridiculous analysis that is. The boy is the best player on a Lille team that’s gonna win the ligue 1 for the first time in 50 something years.

  53. GoonerT1m

Tut tut cmb…what a silly comment, and then defending golden boy by claiming he hadn’t had a proper rest. Thanks for reminding me about our end to the season, I hadn’t noticed!…

  54. SUGA3

    TT,

Vidic and Djou are completely different players, Vidic is the tacticak equivalent of TV/Koscielny, whilst Djourou is playing in the Ferdinand role…

large one is more prone to fatigue, hence we really need another one of the kind!

  55. TOMTOM

Hazard is nothing special. Barca,Madrid,Inter,Chelsea or city would have signed him if he’s so special. I agree that he would be an improvement on Rosicky or Walcott but not good enough to make a major difference

  56. SUGA3

why would they? not like they need him, is it?

Hazard would improve our play no end, we would have a proper wide player for once!

  57. TOMTOM

We really should sort out our defence before thinking about signing players like Hazard. We also badly need another quality striker and defensive midfielder

  58. DeiseGooner

le prof – come on now mate, you just read that story re Florian Lejeune on newsnow …… another to add to the yoof setup … big deal

  59. tiarnan

The difference between success and failure: shudda, cudda, wudda.

“If we’d beaten Blackburn and West Brom….”

“If we’d signed Zidane and Ronaldo…”

“If your aunty had balls, she’d be weird…”

I said this in 2006 – and I’ll say it again:

WE’LL NEVER WIN ANOTHER TROPHY UNDER THAT CUNT AGAIN.

So put all your “IF’S”, “WUDDA CUDDA SHUDDAS” and lists of players into a box, and set it on fucking fire.

By the way they caught Osama Bin Laden:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnychOXj9Tg

funnily enough she was murdered soon after that.

  60. tiarnan

Imagine if I went into my 9 to 5 and said I cant audit this company…and they said why not…and i said – ooooh coz im mentally fatigued – think ill just take my 70k for the week n have a lie down….

thered br fucking ructions!! because –

    1) I don’t have a 9 to 5
1a) Im not a trained accountant
    2) I’m also not an auditor
    3) I dont have a boss
    4) I’m not on 70k a week
    5) Im not Johann Djourou
    6) I find it hard to nap during the day….

And thats only a few reasons….

  61. sixx pac

Oh dear God Tiarnan. Not another right wing conspiracy theorist nut job. Seriously, one Lurch is enough

  62. tiarnan

    sixx pac –

a conspiracy theorist? well if by conspiracy theorist you mean “not a fuckwit” then im definitely a conspiracy theorist…

so ure saying Benazzir Bhutto didnt say those words then ok fine, in your little “lala” world she didnt – what about these, do you deny them as well?

26 Dec 2001 Fox News (info from Pakistani Observer Newspaper) declared Bin Laden had died from Kidney Failure.

18 Jan 2002 Pakistani President Pervez Musharaff declared Bin Laden was dead.

17 July 2002 Dale Watson, head of FBI counter terrorism declared Bin Laden was dead.

October 2002 Afghani President Hamid Karzai told CNN that Bin Laden was dead.

November 2005 Senator Harry Reid said he’d been told Bin Laden had died in an earthquake.

September 2006 French Intelligence leaks a report sayin Bin Laden had died in Pakistan.

November 2007 Former Pakistani President Benazir Bhutto tells Al Jazeeras David Frost that Omar Sheikh had killed Bin Laden.

March 2009 US Foreign Intel Officer Angelo Codevilla says Bin Laden is “as alive as Elvis”.

May 2009 Pakistani President Asif Anil Zardari says that his counterparts in the US Intel agencies hadn’t heard anything from Bin Laden in years, so hes most likely dead.

I’m not saying you’re retarded or anything but …cough cough…thats exactly what Im saying.

Thats not a conspiracy – thats a fact.

  63. tiarnan

    Kushgara –

So the rest of those incidents were mistakes too? Haha – you pair of fuckin eejits…

What about Robin Cook, and why he resigned from Tony Blairs government? Do either of you have ANY recollection of that…

Fuck me – this place is a playground for fuckwits

  64. DeiseGooner

tiarnan – all those were counter intel from bin laden himself so he could travel incognito to the arsenal games – hes was a mad gooner you know ;)

  65. tiarnan

Kush – just deal in facts, trying to devalue arguments with platitudes highlights your ignorance not mine.

  66. tiarnan

Desie – well youre right about one thing – Osama and all yhose agencies/media outlets are all on the same side – but thats another days lecture…

Lets talk about Atlantis – anyone…anyone – yes you in the back with the big tits…

  67. sixx pac

Lol yup that’s exactly what I mean. And erm what exactly does Al Qeada benefit from going along with the reports that he was killed 2 sundays ago?

  68. DeiseGooner

atlantis was what the island of san torini was before a volcano blew the fuck out of it and washed it out of existance ;)

  69. tiarnan

Desie – Atlantis was the entire world before the Great Flood of 4,500 years ago – hence all the megalithic structures all round the world, thousands of underwater cities all round the world..etc..

Hey there are no underwater cities!!
Hey there are no megalithic structures!!

I’ll wait for those replies before answering…with (and don’t hate me Kush) facts.

  70. Santos

Cesc must be itching, seeing his mates winning the La Liga and perhaps on the verge of winning the Champions league for the 3rd time since he parted ways with them. He must be regretting why he didnt go back all this while! He has won 1 trophy in 6 years and they have won 9 in three years. He must be feeling like a fool playing alongside Diaby, Pereira Neves, Rosicky and the legendary Almunia et cetera instead of Xavi, Villa, Iniesta and the incredible Messi. There is no chance he will stay with us beyond this season. I will always love Cesc if he departs. He is a true gem who will be hard to replace. He is the best in his role. He is the nucleus of our deft passing attacking football. When he is not present, the midfield is in disorder. Cesc will always be remembered by many. A talented, yet humble gentleman.

  71. tiarnan

Dial – what would you rather talk about – football? then fuck off talkin bout that on an Arsenal blog

  72. sixx pac

Agreed Santos.Great player who has given 7 years of great service. He hasn’t been given the resources to win. Wish him luck at Barca

  73. Kushagra India

Tia luv ya and I agree with the Atlantis theory……written in many texts in India as well just we name it differently but Osama is not cutting it for me….

  74. sixx pac

So what next Tiarnan? JFK was killed by the CIA? Moon landing was staged in Vegas? They are hiding something in Rosewell NM? The Lochness monster? This is too funny :D

  75. zeus

JFK was murdered because the secret cartel of bankers couldn’t control him. The illumuinati needed him to go. I know this because Alex Jones told me.

Also, Geroge Bush is a human -reptilian hybrid shapeshifter. I know this because David Ike told me.
