Kroenke flexes his muscles, at last! How to play Barca a man down and an Arsenal win today is a must.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So it appears that Stan the man has told the Emperor that he has to go on a money spinning pre-season tour to the USA, at last someone has told the manager to mangage and leave making money and branding to the people who own the club, if it’s true, it’s a massive statement, well done Stan.

Going to a cow shed in Austria hasn’t worked for us so let’s try the alternative. Last night I watched Barcelona vs Madrid and when Madrid went down to 10 men it looked grim, then something strange happened, Madrid started to fight, and then guess what, they brought Ade on and scored.

What does that show us? It shows us that when strikers get to that age, they get better and that if you are behind the eight ball, show some grit and fight for it, that’s what Madrid did and they were unlucky not to win it in the end.

Watching the Mancs get beaten by the northern chavs was funny, watching Baliotelli get under Ferdinand’s skin showed what bad losers they are, watching YaYa play was sickening, thinking that we had him and let him go, still that’s football, and the Mancs losing that could see them go through a mini spiral, we hope so anyway, let’s also hope that dirty ginger git gets a further ban for another disgraceful studs up challenge.

Onto us and today, I’m so super confident we can beat them, they need to attack as a draw will be no use to them whatsoever, so expect an open game, it will be the sort of game that will suit us and if we have Djourou back in, that will take care of the Carroll threat, Carroll for me is a cross between Peter Crouch and Niklas Bendtner, awkward, but only dangerous if you let him be.

Make no mistake we need to win this game, we need to close the gap and we need to get a confidence building win ahead of the game at Shite Hart lane, so this game is important for many reasons.

As we now seem to have the whole squad to choose from, I would go with our best available 11 and let Wednesday take care of itself.

Chezzer

Sagna Djourou Kozzer Clichy

Diaby

Wilshere Cesc

Walcott RVP Nasri

That’s it, that would be my choice. Get a win, send on the impact subs when we are in front and give those that got us the lead a rest, that way we stand a chance on Wednesday and hopefully we can beat them as well and put a decent gap in between, then go on and win the league.

That’s it for today, if you’re going, enjoy it. If you’re watching, enjoy it. If you’re not, you either can’t be a fan or you’re working, so take a portable!

Enjoy the day Grovers!

I find it insulting that your having a POP at the fans. I was at the game today and the atmosphere was positive with the fans getting behind the players. But when you see a team not trying and performing like that and not for the first time you can not blame the fans for not getting behind those players. It has come to the point especially those attending regularly being completely disheartened by the attitude of those players after we have spent money and taking the time.out to come watch the game.

Don’t find it insulting Al, he didn’t mean YOU.

Personally, from where I was sat, I could hear you the whole game. YOU were amazing. If a little flat in the lower octaves.

  3. Albo

Al – Couldn’t agree more with QoS. Had I only been sat in a section near you I’m sure I’d have been blown away by the energy and positivity being generated by us gooners. (Not to mention impressed with your powerful vocals).

    Sadly I wasn’t…so I wasn’t…

Don’t blame it on the sunshine,
Don’t blame it on the moonlight,
Don’t blame it on the good times,
    BLAME IT ON EBOUE!

Don’t blame it on the scouser,
Don’t blame it on the referee,
Don’t blame it on the extra time,
    BLAME IT ON EBOUE!

Frankly I’m not gonna bother with a response. Your attempt at wit is childish.
Albo….I advise you re-read the post..and see the point I was making. The.atmosphere started of positive was it the best iv seen..no…..however pretty good considering how disastrous the last month has been. As the game went on and the display put on, I do not know what you want from.paying fans who have been constantly let down by players ….. not for the lack of talent but thr lack of effort .

Hence why I find it insulting that you had a POP at the fans.

I’d like Chesney to improve his kicking and if possible his penalty stopping.

Almunia and Fabianski stopped quite a few and I think Almunia has something like the best saves to penalties ratio in the premiership in the last 3 years or something of that sort.

  7. Rohan

    Cesc was poor.

Don’t think Nasri was bad to be honest. He fashioned 2 of our best chances and won us the penalty. He looked very good.

  8. Rohan

My bad then. Cesc was still very disappointing as was Persie to an extent. Seemed to slow everything down.

Wilshere has faded in the last third of the season but that’s to be expected. Expected Theo to step up after his return but he looks to be back to his indecisive best.

The tactical think-tank of the team have failed imo and we need to come up with something more robust. We’re struggling to break 2 banks of 4 at the moment.

The key is pace. I think people do the invincibles are GREAT disservice when they suggest that the Invincibles found it easier to break teams down because the oppo played such a high line. BULLSHIT.

The Invincibles was a great team (as all would agree) but to suggest that the opposition used to go to Highbury and play in our hands is all to easy and simplistic an explanation.

Pace. That was the key. How many teams come to the Grove and park the bus? ALL OF THEM. How many times during these games do we have a counter attack on, but we dally on the ball and allow them to reset their defenses? Most of the time I would say.

Thierry Henrys aren’t sitting on every street corner I know, in fact I think we have to wait at least a decade after he’s retired before we see a striker of his calibre again, but we need a proper striker. Quick, Direct, prolific and strong. RVP is not that man.

  10. David

You cant blame Eboue for that.

    Thats an incredibly stupid decision.

Eboue shouldve got himself sent off yelling down Mariners throat.

What a shyte decision yet again.

  11. Rohan

Agree that it was a soft penalty, but Eboue was clumsy imo. Lucas dived and was definitely looking for it, but Eboue should have known better. I wonder if he lost balance though.

    David says:

We need Chelsea to win, and we need to win our game at the Emirates to have a chance.
    *****************
For crying out loud. Stop working out the different scenarios. This season was done once we failed to win game 28. In fact before that, the second we lost the CC final was when the season ended.

    WE HAVE NO CHANCE.

  13. zeus

Of course Eboue is to blame. Song first of all for giving away a freekick in the first place, but all Eboue had to do was SHEPHERD the bastard away. he was already going away. Just track him. No need to get tight or anything. MORON. What was he thinking.

  14. Rohan

Cheesy, but it’s not over until it’s over.

It’s an attitude like that at the Emirates that pains me so. Think that when the team is down is when they need us the fans the most. There is a reason we’re called supporters

  15. Damian

Arsenal through & through but in Spain i always followed Barca.over the rest but anyone with someone as big a dope as Xavi has lost me 4 ever if i was Xavi talking to Fab. i would be telling him all the girls over here have the pox the manager has turned into a C… etc. etc. the 1 player in all the world Xavi if he had a brain doesn,t want at Barca.he chases Cesc,

  16. David

Cant agree with that at all.

You will never see a pen like that given to Utd or Liverpool for that matter.

    IT was a horrible dive.

  17. Rohan

I also don’t like the selective booing or groans toward certain players. I am pretty certain we can attribute the form of the likes of Denilson atleast partly to that.

Boo the team as a whole at half-time or something if you feel so inclined, but please please don’t boo some of our own players at every little mistake. It serves no purpose whatsoever and has absolutely no positive influence. That’s my 2 pence on the subject. I’m off then.

    Chin up.

  18. gnarleygeorge9

……oh & Geoff & Pedro, u were both right all along. That jelly back performance by Arsenal was pathetic. It pretty much sums up the last 6 years IMO.

Lucky I’ve got footy, which I will now be giving 100% of my time too.

See ya, & thanx for allowing me to blog on here all these years. I won’t back back till Arsene Wenger has left the building.

    Caaaaaaarna Tigers!!!

  19. Dream10

Arsene Wenger forgot what made him a winner in the first place. Pace and athleticism.

You should not have to explain what you are trying to show. Your actions should show what you are trying to do. It is not enough to say you have mental strength and character. SHOW IT

  20. paul mc daid

Wenger and this board are destroying our great club, its sad and pathetic, excuses, excuses, excuses, lies, lies, lies, the arrogance off these gutless, blind, clueless bastards is soul destroying,we are being fucked with a smile, every body is wrong but our wee johnny,we are the laughing stock off football and this regime think they are doing us a favour, time too take this club back again before its to late.

  21. Geoff

Gnarley, I know how you feel mate, I’m giving up my tickets for the same reason, until he goes, he won’t stop me blogging though, he doesn’t control me!

  22. Rohan

Not blaming them. Not at all. Stop twisting my words. Just think we could do a lot better if they’re more supportive and did away with the selective booing.

From the first half, you wouldn’t think we were in a title race ffs.

  23. SUGA3

    Rohan,

like I said countless times, it’s a two-way street, the fans may not necessarily like another tippy tappy show, simple as…

our away fans outsung St James’ Park, remember? don’t need to reind you how that ended, do I?

and I wonder what did the fans have to do with the team being unable to hold out for a win for 2 (yes, that’s two) minutes, care to explain?

but the most important question is: Jesus Christ, who shat in my mouth?

  24. gooner-pak

fab’s head was clearly somewhere else nou camp that is… useless
and i doubt if eboue does any thing without diving
i think he even dives just before sitting on toilet

  25. Rohan

    I don’t necessarily agree that it’s a “two-way street” as you say.

Call me naive, but once someone put’s on the red and white and is playing for us, he deserves our support. It’s as simple as that for me.

Never said anything against the away fans either. They’re the best in the league as far as I’m concerned.
More importantly, wonder why the whole “two-way street” thing doesn’t apply to them though? Why isn’t their support like that of the home crowd as far as selective booing and groans go?

  26. SUGA3

    Rohan,

it is really simple: the away fans are usually the cream of the crop, the maniacs, you can’t really expect your average fan coming to the Ems to match that passion, simple as…

and another difference is that they are grouped in a couple of sectors in one place, not scattered around the ground with pretty poor acoustics, no?

from my point of view it looks like this: whenever I went to the ground, I was one of the passionate fans, getting up, singing and all that…

I would also give the special fucking needs players the benefit of the doubt, cheer them when they did something right (not ironically, mind you), but since seeing the same flat performance from the same usual suspects is an insult to a paying fan (or, given the club’s policy a ‘customer’) it is enough for me to jeer them, as I believe they are not fit to wear the shirt, let alone get paid for doing so!

keeping certain players on our books is an epitome of negligence and proves that OGL is off his fucking rocker!

    OK, rant over (I think)…

  27. David

Shouldve played Arshavin from the off.

    He always shitz on liverpool.

    Shouldve never brought Song on.

If Chezney cant kick past the half way line put more players in midfield.

Who can save us from this SOS (Shower of Sh***)

  28. Moray

so let me get this right: we have Rosicky, Denilson, Song and probably Squillachi all tied up on medium to long term contracts, yet Clichy and Nasri are coming to the end of theirs..?

Suppose in the summer we lose Fab, Nasri, Arsha and Clichy.

what then? A complete rebuilding job carried out by purchasing out of contract or juvenile players?! It doesn’t bear thinking about. We could be way out of the top 4 by the end of next season.

And I couldn’t care less if we finish 2nd, 3rd or 4th this year (so long as we are ahead of the Spuds). As far as I am concerned, we have been inferior to a terrible Man U side, a weak Chelski side and an inconsistent Man City side this year. And we look drained too. If we finish 4th, then perhaps having to qualify for the CL in pre-season will be a wake up call to someone at the club.

  29. rob green

The team is not good enough and Wenger has to go!! FACT

Get Dein in and a new manager/Assistant!!

I would rather see new manager/managers have a go than watch wenger making the same mistakes for 5,6,7 years!!

  30. Geoff

Moray we say that every season, next time Wenger will have to rebuild, he fell out with yet another EPL manager again, this time the legend Daglish, what has he got to do before people realise he is running this club as his own fiefdom.

Never mind the penalty, Song gave away another pointless free kick that caused the spot kick, Eboue is a dimwit, we all know that, but Song caused it, of that there is no doubt, but Wenger is blind to it.

And he calls those two intelligent, my god, what goes through his mind, how many games does Song have to cost us before he realises he is not good enough?

  31. Moray

Geoff, I think we will lose these players whether Wenger goes or not. I think most of them have had enough. It just shows what a huge rebuilding job faces us in the summer. And I think a good opportunity to bring a new manager in, actually.

The same mistakes by the same players in the same positions, game after game, year after year. If my boss was letting everyone come in to the office late, do a bit of below par work and then fucking off home early, thereby costing me my bonus every year, I would sure as hell leave that job.

  32. Taxi for Wenger

Maybe if we finish 5th we would get a change of manager and playing staff. The premiership was there for the taking but Wenger fucked it up as usual. How many times this season has this lot fucked up ? To be 4 up at Newcastle and still not win you would think even the thickest bunch of overpaid pampered and useless bunch of footballers assembled by a manager who is clearly senile would learn but fuck up after fuck continue to happen.Wenger has lost it and the team he built shows this week in week out.A change of manager is needed don’t laugh but Owen Coyle would do with Bould his number 2 Thanks for the good times Mr Wenger and the invincibles but your times up.

  33. Jimbo

    Lol Mike.

Yes, Wenger had nothing to do with the fact that we barely created half a chance against a Liverpool defence containing 2 teenagers, and a massively over the hill Jamie Carragher.

I’m not quite sure WHAT his responsibility is around the club these days, because whenever something goes wrong it never seems to be his fault.

  34. Rohan

There is something wrong with this team. Surely Wenger knows that by now.

Hope he does something this summer. Don’t think just signing players will help. It’s something else.

  35. Geoff

We had 114 minutes to beat Liverpool and didn’t manage it, don’t blame the decision by the ref, a blind man would have given that, it’s a shame the only blind man that was there was Wenger.

We couldn’t hold a lead for 2 minutes, and we couldn’t hold it because of the complete stupidity of two players, no ifs, buts or maybe’s, those are the facts.

And it’s not the first time it’s happened either is it.

What a day to do it on.

  36. SurferX

We got what we deserved yesterday. Not just from yesterday- but the whole season. Good, but not good enough to win things. Its as frustrating as watching the Mrs parking a car.

  37. Geoff

Surfer it’s Pedro’s, he does post match. I don’t blame Song, it’s not his fault he’s slow and reacts too late, it’s Wenger that picks him.

  38. Dream10

Wenger is full of excuses. Essentially our best XI with the exception of Eboue in for Sagna. Penalty was 50/50 for me.

But the ball was played into the box and the team excremented in their pants under pressure when a simple HOOF was needed.

Daglish’s makeshift squad showed spirit despite being undermanned with makeshift players. King Kenny was so passionate he looked ready to lace them up.

    Different chapter, same ending.

  39. KING GOONER

this one’s for “gambon”do me a favour mate & cut out the use of the word “spastic”in your vocab-it’s aword that winds me up no end.other than that,we’ll get on just fine.thankyou…with regards to the latest pile of shit served up by the “boys”you can only conclude that they don’t have no pride left..
