Injury update (Tommy V + Theo) | Time to move on…

by & filed under Uncategorized.

What’s that? Yeah, post number two churned out on a Blackberry. Geoff has obviously taken the Barca result harder than most…he’s gone AWOL. If anyone sees him, tell him I’ve docked him two weeks wages for bringing the blog into disrepute.

Anyway, to save my thumbs, I’ll keep this shorter than Andrey.

Word on the street is that we’ll have a full squad to pick from for the WBA game. I was told that there were no reports of Cesc being injured during or after the Barca game. If he’s out for Saturday, I’d hazard a guess that it’s precautionary.

More importantly, Robin is still rockin and Theo will be back for the crunch tie away at the Hawthorns. Why is that result so important? It’s international week after. No negativity in the mind is a great thing going into a Blackburn game.

News isn’t so great on Tommy V, apparently he’s had a number of minor set backs and no one is sure on him. Write him off for the year barring maybe a cameo towards the end.

This weekend we’ll be facing a severely depleted United. My fear is we’ll also rest half the team. We shouldn’t, this side needs to start winning again and fast. Beating any United team could be enough to kick us out of this nasty rut we’re in.

Do I trust Wenger to go for it? Not really. Mutterings of Cesc being out already reek of not taking this tie seriously.

Anyway, we’ll all be cheering United on next week in the Champions League. We need them to make it to the semi’s, where they’ll be run ragged by Barcelona. Their fixture pile up is going to be very beneficial for us. If losing two nights ago has done anything, it’s given our squad breathing space and the chance to fully focus on becoming Champions.

Wenger, this is the best chance you’ll have. Next year Chelsea, City, United, Spurs and Liverpool will spend big. You won’t…and it’ll be tougher than ever. Win it this year, you’ll bind the squad together for another year.

In my opinion, our winning streak has to start Saturday.

Grover’s, the time for mopping is over, pick yourselves up, put that mug of Jack down and start getting excited for Saturday!

See you in the comments.

P.S. You’d have got the injury news yesterday if you’d followed out twitter @LeGrove . Get on it!

  1. TOMTOM

Wenger should offload some of our dead wood and make a big effort to sign Hazard. If Hazard is a flop I will blame Rohan

  2. sixx pac

I’ve been reading about Hazard for about two years now. Always seeing him say that he loves Arsenal but his idol Zidane wants him to play for Madrid.

And Tom, Ligue 1 is not a shite league. Its the closest in similarity to the Epl

  3. David

Theo’s been destroying Liverpool his whole career.

    I like Hazard.

But Arsene is a stingy bastard and any hopes of getting him ended with him singing a new contract.

  4. A

rohan/sixx pac the reason vela didn’t go to bolton is because his agent demanded a ridiculous signing on and relocation fee, along with silly wages etc.

Bolton weren’t willing to pay and he went to West Brom, whereupon Bolton got in their second choice (Sturridge)

Does make me wonder a bit about Vela’s attitude, always gave him the benefit of the doubt before, put his lack of development down to very rarely being available because of Mexico and injuries, but perhaps he’s a bit of a playboy/nobhead as well

  5. David

    Arsene doesnt rate Vela.

Thats why he didnt play then. Thats why he’s not playing now.

Has little or nothing to do with injuries.

And we all know how Arsene tells poeple how a players i magically “injured”

How can Vela go to the International break score a couple goals for his country look world class and then be magically injured.

  6. sixx pac

I don’t know David. I can see Wenger going after him in the summer. I’ve never heard Wenger definitively say that he’s going after someone and he says he’s gonna do that.

  7. A

Arsene rates Vela amazingly highly, hence his waiting for 3 years for him to be available play, and sticking by him all this time!

Vela got injured all the time playing for Mexico, I’m pretty sure Wenger didn’t demand him to pretend to be injured and be stretchered off…. It’s down to Mexico constantly playing him when he wasn’t fully fit, so picking up niggly injury after niggly injury for them, on top of the bigger injuries, hence him missing matches for them too.

  8. A

I really thought Vela would be a star for Bolton on loan and could’ve come back next season ready to feature regularly for us. Hope it still happens for him at West Brom, there’s time but he really needs to break into their starting line up sooner rather than later

  9. sixx pac

What’s happening With Wellington on loan? Haven’t even checked up on him. Does he get games for Levante?

  10. David

    Lets hope so sixx.

Personally i would be absolutely thrilled to see Hazzard on the left and Theo on the right.

We’d be unstoppable on the counter. And if either one is fecked the other can play in his position

  11. Rohan

Didn’t know that A. Fair dos. Stupid agents ffs.
Hasn’t he scored twice already for West Brom off the bench though? He should be pushing for a starting position imo… Him, Lansbury and Ramsey, dare I say it, would be like “new signings”

Sadly, I don’t think we’ll get Barca. All the recent noises over the past month seem to distance us from him. Let’s see..

    How was Barca, A?

  12. Rohan

Kyle Bartley turned in another solid shift tonight as Rangers drew 0-0 wirh PSV in the Europa League

Seems a good prospect, doesn’t he. I’ll be the first to put my hands and say that I never really believed he’d make it. He’s looking good to atleast play in the Carling Cup and push for a few appearances here and there.

    Another one from Colney.

  13. luke

Interview makes perfect sens Rohan. Pique wants to share a dressing room with cesc…can anyone say Brokeback Barca?

  14. Kushagra India

Choy yep his first touch is always awesome against Championship sides……making a mockery of the first touch…

  15. Rohan

    Laughing stock?

Please, we lost to Barca 4-3 ffs. mourinho and Madrid lost at their place 5-0 with their full strength team ffs.

  16. SUGA3

    WB,

even though everyone can attest I am not a Wengerite, I think people are indeed going a bit OTT…

given the lineup, we came to Barca to defend and it worked until our ‘captain’ decided to help his bum chums a little bit and given that we are much fitter than them, anything could have happened in the last 30 minutes, I dare to say that we could see RvP more often around Valdes’ goal, had he not got sent off, with RvP lost, we lost the outlet, simple as that…

but we WILL be the laughing stock if we don’t win anything, which is not that unlikely, given the injury to Szczesny, if we go out to Manure on Saturday, the season is as good as over and AW will have to do some serious managing or fuck off…

I would say, there is work to do regardless, as we are carrying too large number of passengers to mount serious challenge on all fronts…

  17. SUGA3

    Rohan,

just to set things straight, it’s 3:1 and 5:0, it’s appleas and oranges otherwise…

plus, I would say there is a bit of difference between playing in the league and the cup competition…

  18. Kushagra India

Rohan that scoreline was disrespectful to Barca I would say……..this was our gr8 chances and 6-7 players came up with shite performances…..and yeah no shot at goal..FFS…..

  19. Kushagra India

And everyone in England and Spain is of the same opinion that we were humiliated we need to earn respect and do it quick I want a rematch….

  20. Kushagra India

Fist step would be to win the double nothing less will do especially when the top of BPL is full of mediocrity…

  21. SUGA3

    Kush,

Bendy had a good chance of changing that statistic, shame he can’t get the basics like the first touch right!

I used to watch a lot of non-league football in Poland ages ago and there were players who could teach him a thing or two in that department

    Nicklas, you’re poo-poo. You hear me? Poo-poo’

  22. Kushagra India

Thats the thing that is pissing me the most the likes of Chavski and Manure would have scored there and than …..our team with such a midfield has to with such shite forwards that has cost us numerous big matches and trophies….more than the defense or Almunia I would say ….

  23. SUGA3

    Kush,

but we were saying it all along that if you scratch the surface that is the first XI, then, bar a few players, we are pretty much dire, with a few duds that should be playing in the stiffs, as we have loaned out or even sold players that were better than them, ffs…

  24. Kushagra India

Forget the Barca match in so many matches we start brightly and fizzle out due to our inability to convert ,even the iceman says that why the heck Wenger such a great spotter of talent has to do with dross like Bendtner every manager’s top priority is a striker…..manure with such an average team our still fighting due to their strike force and defensive pairing ,whenever Moaninho goes to a club his rimary focus is on CF’s FFS……Bendy needs to be shipped out Chamakh showed some gr8 signs at the start of the year will stick with him….

  25. Kushagra India

SUGA now its time we support the team till the end hope for best and prepare for the worst and sell dross in the first week of transfer window first one should be bendtner

  26. SUGA3

    Kush,

as far as I am concerned, come the start of the next season, if majority of the following: Almunia, D******n, Diaby, Rosicky and Bendtner are not out of here, my financial support for the club will be limited to maintaining my red membership…

  27. Gooby

lol pique said cesc is one of the best players in our history, what does that shit bag know about the arsenal?

  28. SUGA3

well, but he is one of the best, he didn’t say he was the best, did he?

face it mate, at the moment, without Cesc we are fucking pap…

  29. patthegooner

To all of those who thought Wenger got his tactics spot on the other night and it was his cunning plan to sit back and defend, this from the horses mouth. I actually gave credit to Wenger and said that there was no way he would be so stupid to deploy such a tactic and that Barca simply made us play that way, and I am pleased to get that confirmed by Wenger.

“I think we had no option, they closed us down so well in the first half that we didn’t manage well to get out,” said the manager on Thursday.

“It was never our intention to stay in our half, you look at the speed at which we lost the ball.

“If I played two full-backs on each flank in midfield you could say ‘ok, they wanted just to defend’. We played Rosicky, Nasri, Fabregas, Wilshere, Van Persie, and Diaby – not one defensive player.

“How can people think I said to the players ‘just stay in our half and wait’?

Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say the opposition were simply out of this world….despite being cunts

  30. patthegooner

Not at this level no Gambon

It just amazed me on the night that so many people thought Arsenal played that way as it was the instructions to do so. They even praised Wenger for getting his tactics spot on!!!!

That is not a dig at Wenger, but he simply could not get Arsenal playing the way he wanted them to as Barca would not let us do it.
