Are the signs pointing to us throwing United tie?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Listen, I hope I’m wrong but hearing Arsene talking about Cesc being out and his past behaviour points towards that.

I’d put your house on the line and say that I’m pretty certain Cesc will be available for West Brom the week after. If Wenger throws this match and we don’t win the league, what have we achieved this year? How can we keep taking solace from the tiniest improvements? How can we tolerate a manager who doesn’t have that killer instinct anymore?

My faith is paper thin, the only thing keeping me going is the fact that somehow, we’re still in with a massive shout in the league. Such a good shout, it feels almost impossible that we won’t pull something together until the end of the year.

Question is, if Wenger wins the league this year, will it satisfy the critics? It’s a bizarre situation to be in, but I’d hazard a guess it probably wouldn’t.

Has there ever been a more unsatisfied crowd considering our position? Have you ever taken such a ribbing from oppo fans about a title contending season?

I haven’t.

We’re in with a shout when we shouldn’t be. We’re contending the league and 75% of the fans think the team are a bunch of chokers…

So what is the answer?

It’s to sort out this shambolic mess and play the best team this weekend.

I don’t want to read about how dignified a 40k a week keeper has been. I really couldn’t care a crap about what Almunia has been through. The reason he’s been dignified is because he knows he won the lottery when he joined. Being dignified would have been leaving in January.

One other gripe from me Arsene…

‘We can take confidence and belief from the Barcelona tie’

… Have you ever heard such tripe?

Being trounced at the Camp Nou should give us no belief. If players are taking belief from losing games, they should be ashamed.

The difference between Barcelona and Arsenal is firstly, they are better technically. Secondly and for me, more importantly, everyone of their players has an incredible intensity to their game and a superb work ethic. Second best isn’t tolerated there, poor performances are not passed off as the folly of youth, if you don’t have it, you don’t play.

Arsene, you need to take a lesson from Pep. Stop flogging poor players to death. If a player isn’t good enough after 150 games, who cares a crap if they are after 200…we’ve just blown three seasons waiting for that moment.

Arsenal fans have waited long enough, if this team bottles it now, there should be a squad overhaul in the summer. This is top level sport, top level wages are being taken, but top performances are not being given in exchange.

Let’s get the culture right starting on Saturday. I want to see the spirit of Jack, Robin and Vermaelen out there. I want to see people playing like they mean it, I want to see blood, guts and thunder on the Old Trafford pitch.

This is the Arsenal, if you’re not proud to wear the shirt, f*ck off to another club whoever you are…we don’t need you.

I still believe we can do something this year, but my gut feeling says a lot of it rests on Saturday evening. Don’t mess it up Arsene… prove to us you ‘know’ because the growing consensus is you don’t anymore.

incesc i dont what your problem is kos but what i have seen of him both dj and kos have been doing extremly well in barc game he realy did have much protection with diaby dm position and extreme presure they were under in that game was unreal i wave upon wave of 200 miles passes with accuracy messi inesta zavi comming at them in the first half the keeper hardly had to make save and second half it was evon worse they were withousting it with very little protection i might add evon before that game his performances have been realy

  2. incesc

i like kos but he should be an understudy to a more experienced player.

we have played most of the season with djourou, koz and chesney all with no experience at all.

    risky stuff.

    again

  3. leon

incesc in an ideal world verm would be starting but the truth is quality is quality and at 24-25 he should be able to handle the presure

incesc koscielny wasn’t a “big signing” as such. He was brought in most likely as a back up to Vermy, or at most someone to rotate with JD so he wouldn’t have to play every match following all his knee injuries.

It’s just been bad injury luck as a whole that has resulted in him playing so much this season

  5. incesc

truth is we are arsenal and one of the top 8 teams in the world.

players should learn the game elsewhere then we pick the best of them.

thats how the best in all industries work.

  6. incesc

every now and then a punt on young talent is great but doing it all the time has been proved not to work at the highest level

  7. A

Yeah true incesc, but that doesn’t mean much – we failed to get any of our big name targets which meant that he was our biggest signing as such, but still only a reserve/squad signing

u ever sat up the back of the lower tier behind the goal?

last week me and a mate got tickets on exchange and everyone stood up all game all sang.

never seen that at the grove

  9. A

yeah incesc, favourite place to sit, there’s no sitting down especially in the corner. I was just to the right of it last saturday, borderline between the always standing and the sitters.

Used to hate sitting in the upper tier for just that reason, find such a better atmosphere lower tier and north bank

i have a feeling we might just pinch the league this year. It will be a trial through adversity triumph i reckon. To be honest I can’t believe i still think that after reading some of the comments the last few days..

The posts have been a good read and sum up a good spectrum of feeling & opinion based on more than one single related issue. We go to united with it being a massive game due to united’s recent skiddy slide in the league and our recent cup catastrophes. They’ve had a weeks rest and we’ve taken a bit of a physical annihilation mid week…

Will the players stand up, hush the murmurs and look to push on for a double, whilst united start to rock on the run in with a massive game v marseille mid week? Or will we be dealt a potential physical and mental final blow, followed by a media and blog shitstorm of negativity whilst united are galvanised for the run in…

I personally think this game is huge due to the predicament both clubs find them selves in. Let’s not kid, this is massive headache for both managers, a side show both would really rather avoid. But, make no mistake that this game for the fans is big.

The game at the emirates could prove to be a pivotal corner stone in both club managers histories for different reasons, but this one comes first. It’s back to us and them. Fuck chelsea, liverpool, spurs, city, fuck em all. Domestic double on the line here.. LET’S HAVE IT U GOONS!

    Team for tom:

    Almunia

    Sagna Squillaci Djourou Gibbs

    Wilshire Ramsey

    Nasri

    Bendtner v.Persie(c) Arshavin

Bench: Shea, Eboue, Koscielny, Denilson, Diaby, Rosicky, Chamackh

    robin

i think we will win the league too.

its ours if we want it.

we play united and spuds just before they have champions league games, key players will be fit and rested.

theres no doubting the last few weeks have taken their toll on everyone from wenger to nasri to gambon…

but after the international week its all we have to concentrate on

big question on our team, but surely they want it?

  12. incesc

its annoying we have united tommorow tho.

last thing we need, altho if we can win it could be huge.

i do worry though, because west brom is more important and our 2nd team drew with orient!

    :)

  13. Robin's Choco Leg Special

    cup duty first incesc…

i’m worried wenger will throw the towel in with the team sheet.. I reckon he might have denilson, rosicky, diaby & eboue on show..

  14. incesc

to win tomorrow we need to be all out desperate for it, like team are vs us.

we have only seen that twice since recently from or team.

chelsea at home and 2nd and barce at home.

if they play like that all the time we are fine

    is tiredness an excuse?

  15. Robin's Choco Leg Special

this would be a dream next season starting as defending champions:

    arsenal 11/12:

    szczesny

    sagna hummells* vermaelen gibbs

    wilshire ramsey

    fabregas

    walcott v.Persie nasri

bench from: fabianski, vrsaljko*, djourou, koscielny, song, lansbury, arshavin, vela, bendtner, chamackh

squad promotion: mannone, bartley, cruise, coquelin, jet,

loan: miguel, murphy, eastmond, wellington, miyachi, shea

reserve/CC: evina, bothelo, freeman, afobe, aneke, ozyagup, martinez

let go: randall, watt, sunu, traore

sell: rosicky, almunia, denilson, diaby, eboue, clichy, squillaci

  16. incesc

imagine at the start of the season that we knew it would be march and we were 2nd in the league with a better run in than manu with rvp fit. ok we went out the champions league to barce but we are still in the FA cup…

id take it all day long

  17. luke

we have a much better chance of winning the FA cup then the league. We have a terribly tricky run in and united does not really.

  18. A

Utd have a trickier run in than us Luke!

We should at least be able to match Utd’s scores, then it comes down to goal difference….

Next season we need a left back that can produce quality crosses for our attack to get onto.

    Is that Traore? Who knows.

    Gibbs wont be ready imo.

Vrsalijko kid is supposed to be the second coming hope we can wrap that up quickly.

    We need striker.

Sell Bendtner Rosicky, Diaby, Denilson Squid. Almunia,

Eboue deserves a new contract imho.

  21. luke

    I dont know A, I could see us dropping points against WBA (a), Blackpool (a), Pool (h), Tottenham (a), Bolton(a), United(h), Stoke(a), Fulham(a).

  22. A

    Really luke?!

So you think Utd will go from struggling in EVERY away game they’ve had this season, winning only four all season to not having many problems at those three?

Would be a pretty big turnaround.

  23. David

I cant see us winning the League im afraid.

We still have to play Liverpool, Stoke, United, and Spurs.

    Those are g

  24. A

They kinda did up to a point David, but yeah that is the only away game they’ve won by more than one goal, and without the winning goal being scored in the last 15 minutes of the game.

Should’ve been so different though seeing as Rooney should’ve been gone after about 15 mins and Wigan were had so many early chances too…..

  25. David

I cant see us winning the League im afraid.

We still have to play Liverpool, Stoke, United, and Spurs.

Those are some really tough ones.

Dont think this time has enough in them

  26. David

    Yes.

    Cesc to Ade.

That has worked for us on many occasions.

Fills my heart with sorrow he’s been replaced by Bendtner.

  27. Rohan

    gambon engaged?

my arse he is. Is she a gambonista then? Who else would want to marry a miserable fat man? :D

just kidding (or am I?), congrats man. Very happy for you and cheers..

    Absofuckinglutely spot on Pedro!!

  30. LAzer

I agree with David. Our fixtures are tougher. Stoke (a), Liverpool (h), Utd (h), Spurs (a) are all tough tests and the logic goes both ways A. Our home form has been pretty shit as Utd’s away form has been.
