It’s Captain Robin for the Cup final, at last, a fitting vice captain! Come on Arsenal!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

I really wish it was Cesc, not because he is world class and we need him, not because he said win it for the fans not me, but because he is the closest we have to a Mr Arsenal, for me he has become the Tony Adams type of Captain we have been lacking, for me he is the real deal and my heart goes out to him, I hope when we beat the Brummie bullies tomorrow, he comes out and lifts the Carling Cup with Robin.

So one more day to go Grovers, one more day to fulfil our destiny, win this ‘and the floodgates will open’ as many, including the manager say. Me, I believe winning breeds confidence and if we do we can push on, I don’t even want to think about anything else, so for the next two days this blogger has his head firmly in the Arsenal sand.

How will we play and who will we play? This is my guess, if all are fit.

Chezzer

Sagna Djourou Koscielny Clichy

Wilshere Song Diaby

Nasri RVP Arshavin

This team will tear them a new ‘R’ sole, Diaby will be the one and not Rosicky, for me he is the right choice if he fulfills his promise, he also owes us one after costing us 2 points against Newcastle and for acting concerned after he kicked John Terry’s head in, that wasn’t cool Abou, not cool and not clever.

We are now solid at the back and we aren’t playing ManU, we are playing a bottom side with two ex gooners and a circus freak in their side, show them no respect and chase every ball boys, let’s win this in style, let us that are going enjoy the day early, don’t put us through what you did against barca! (nail biting I mean!)

Tomorrow will begin in a boozer on the way to Wembley, it will end in a boozer in Upper street celebrating with any gooner still standing, why Upper street? It’s trendy, near my office and it’s in N1! Any N number will do, I can’t wait, the only problem with going, is not seeing the TV coverage, but I’ll sacrifice that to be back at Wembley winning a cup, the last time I was at Wembley was watching Tony Adams captain England in the last ever game against Germany, the last time I was there watching Arsenal was with Pedro in 1998 when we we won the FA cup and Anelka scored, hmmm happy days, let’s hope we do similar tomorrow!

There are reports out there that Nasri has signed a new £26mil 5 year deal, if it’s true, get in on the official site and give the team a lift, good going if it’s true and sure to keep Cesc around!

Have a great day Grovers, tomorrow is what we have been waiting for, some silverware!

See you in the comments!

Follow the day a Pedro manned twitter account! Pics galore! @LeGrove

Jesus, they still have to play the Chavs twice and Liverpool not to mention us, Bolton and importantly Everton.

Don’t think we could really count on Wigan beating them.

  2. Hussain

    Rohan
We have just beaten one of the favorites, bring on India in the Quarter Finals, or if you can wait for us to get to Bombay and meet you in the final there?

  3. Ja_Gunner

Fucking Manure…anyway I never really thought Wigan would beat them…but I was hoping for a draw…I mean 3 losses on the bounce were unrealistic anyway….

So Go Chelsea…Go Liverpool, I know both those teams would love to fuck up manure’s title bid…

I am sure just like the neutrals that Liverpool and Chelsea prefer us to win if they dont and the scousers dont want Manure to break their record…

Please God if you exist strike Manure down…and these fucking thieves who tried to break into the house last night….

  4. AA23

    Dood
Arsene nose best considers the league lost before a ball has even been kicked.
its just his way of coping with the pressure.

  5. Rohan

Just use sopcast gooby. And get the link for the game from myp2p. You won’t be disappointed for 97% of the games. That is if you have a more than decent internet connection.

  6. albo

God I’m so frickin’ nervous right now! I’m actually considering taping the match and only watching it after I know the score. Not sure my heart will be able to cope with it live ;-)

  7. albo

On another note, with all the millions they are getting paid, and with all the millions Arsenal invest in them, why can’t these players ever seem to get a decent meal?

I mean, hardly an interview goes by without someone saying how hungry they all are…

  8. Gooby

Rohan i did use sopcast for a long time but my pc is getting old and shitty and my main computer is a mac and sopcast doesn’t run on macs that’s way i am looking for some steady streams, good quality and reliable. The free streams are getting shit and it gets on my nerves when it’s arsenal playing

  9. Lurch LeRouge

don’t see the point in getting nervous personally… get excited and ubber KKKonffident and when it goes tits up come on here and VENT! :)

  10. Rohan

It doesn’t give you anywhere near the bang for buck a PC gives you for one. Two, there’s absolutely no flexibility and most software runs nowhere near well as it would on a PC.

It’s just a fancy attractive thing, with a stellar PR department behind it as far as I’m concerned.
It’s GUI is admirable though and I don’t buy the shit about it being a lot more reliable/well made. It’s just that no one makes viruses intended for macs coz less than 10% of the worlds computers run on MacOS

  11. Lurch LeRouge

but Rohan its all about the gui no?

clearly your a clever chap and enjoy maintaining systems, however I liken a PC lover to a kit car enthusiast – they are designed to engage the owner in car maintenance & not the driving experience itself.

mac use is just an efficient allocation of time, low maintenance designed to optimise ones time doing what one wants, ie the task at hand.

if one factors the amount of time running diagnostics and maintaining microsoft OS’s and charged that back to themselves they would be able to afford 2 macs for each PC.

You joke, but actually, I have noticed that its the most confident ones on here, certain of 4-0 thrashings every time we play, who are the ones who then seem to need to vent the most…

  13. Santos

Le-grove has been boring today. Wads up with people today? its quite unusual! its just about 190 comments. I bet tomorrow will be better. Lets say 2000 comments irrespective of the result.

  14. Lurch LeRouge

    strange Albo,

I see the reverse, no one’s more confident than A, and he NEVER vents. Besides SUGA is perhaps the most regular venter and I’d say his optimism factor rates in the glass half empty crew.

I guess a la ‘Gestalt’ its the brain completing the picture we want to see.

    go figure.

  15. Rohan

oh hell no. I have an iphone but I don’t think you can deny that the Android is an absolutely spectacular piece of software

Download a program called Virtualbox, http://www.virtualbox.org/
It is free and runs windows in a virtual environment on your mac, I use it myself to watch sopcast links. You will need a windows installer disc xp, vista or any other virus magnet from microshit and away you go, windows on your mac.

3-1 tomorrow after going 1 down early in the game.
    UP THE ARSE!!!!!

  17. Rohan

You have a fair point, Lurch. I guess as a light user, Macs are probably a better option.
I don’t agree with your analogy completely as well. A well made PC doesn’t really need that much “maintenance”. Doesn’t Apple charge you for every update of their OS as well?
But as someone who is doing research at uni along with studies, I have had to use various engineering and mathematical/statistical software, macs just don’t cut it.

I do have to admit that the battery life of their laptops is absolutely phenomenal.
Most importatnly, however, as a former (well sort of) gamer, Macs are an absolute joke.

  18. Rohan

I don’t think he will, Lansbury, that is. Cesc won’t as well. You need to be in the matchday(i.e final) squad to receive the medal.

Don’t worry though, the whole squad will win it. As in, it will be in their “stats” as it were.

  19. Gooby

    cheers 1886-2006

i’ve read about this parallels stuff, but i don’t have a window installer and tbh i’m shit at using computers in general, i can’t understand why sopcast for mac doesn’t exist yet

  20. albo

Lurch LeRouge – yeah, true maybe. All I know is that I’m the most ridiculously nervous of fans. I was even worried when we were 4-0 up against Newcastle! (Though that turned out to be a pretty good call!)

AA23 – not true. There is a runners up medal.

  21. Rohan

gooby, have you heard of bootcamp where you can run a Windows OS as a dual OS on a system. granted it’s buggy and pretty worthless but you may want to give it a try.

  22. Lurch LeRouge

Rohan in the arts industry macs are unsurpassed, but thats only because of the way the industry went in the 80′s with typesetting etc… applications were better written on the mac platform for professional graphical applications, hot keys and keyboard shortcuts etc… besides the fact that running a mac networked office in the 90′s didn’t require masses on knowledge on firewalling, security or a comp science degree – you simply plugged them in to each other and it worked without hiccup.

Prior to this I used to run Windows to network graphical machines but NT was the only OS that handle it with any kind of stability and it wasn’t great. MAC 9.2 finally became competitive then OSX just plain wiped the floor in terms of stability and low maintenance functionality. Apple was the only company interested in colour systems as well, their colorsync utility became the benchmark.

and yes Mac’s are brilliantly marketed, mostly because Jobs realised that cool looking desktop’s in swanky designer offices were an untapped goldmine, enter the IMAC.

  23. Santos

Losers medal, to make it sound more proper. I just watched Real Madrid, Jose has bottled it! Benzema was just like Chamakh: clueless.

  24. Stu

I am shitting it about tomorrow. We need to fucking win this! Brum have nothing to lose and everything to gain…i wont be surprised if we dont win but i will be distraught and probably cry and hate football for the rest of the season.

  25. Stu

How has Jose bottled it? And Benzema is so much better than Chamakh its not even funny. Everyone in the world would prefer Benzema up front…no doubt.

  26. Rohan

Just think PC’s are a lot more practical and most importantly flexible. Easy to modify, customize and what not.
I understand this comes from a geek student’s point of viw, but Apple Corp. really annoy me.

  27. Lurch LeRouge

no harm in being nervous Albo, i’m sure 10 min before kickoff ill be changing my pants like the best of us. Up to that point we just need to channel our positivity into the squad, collective unconscious and all that blah blah.

my hunch (sabeel if your interested) is 3 nil. JW MoTM.

  28. Lurch LeRouge

they annoy you Rohan because they don’t allow a back door into their programming, its exactly because of this that their systems are less prone to tampering and going wrong. Its well established that Microsoft release OS’s way to early then spend the next 3 years fixing it, fix it then release a whole new platform and by doing so enable geeks a load more access to their architecture.

macs just aren’t designed for you but your jealous and you’d like a shinny modernist toy on your desktop :)

  29. Rohan

Why the fuck are you guys worried? It’ll be a walk in the park. :D :D :D

3-0 to the good guys. van Persie brace and a Clichy (Winterburnesque) wonder goal to top it all off before the first half ends.

We then go on to play the fanciest of keep ball in teh second half annoying Birmingnam to know end before embarking on some party pieces led by Samir Nasri.

RvP then declines to lift the trophy up by himself and calls Cesc over from the bench and they both lift it together before Nicklas Bendtner starts the proper celebrations.

    Simples.

  30. Rohan

No, I just find it’s too much of a gimmick in terms of its popularity and young college going kids buying it. I have no problems as to it being used in the industry.

Have to say that it is particularly well designed and makes my Dell laptop look about as attractive as Stoke’s finest football. In that sense, perhaps yes, I am a bit bitter.

You can’t deny that this though is the pinnacle of computing. :D :D

    http://www.alienware.com/

  31. Stu

Theres a fine line between positivity and delusional Rohan, and you just crossed it with the clichy scoring prediction. Shame on you.

Brum are kind of a bogey team for us. Why not be worried about an upset which is very likely.

  32. Stu

I can not tempt fate by suggesting its gonna be piss easy and that we’ll hammer them. I’ld rather think we’re gonna lose and win, than the other way around just for the sake of positivity and backing the team on a blog that they probably dont even read.

  33. Santos

Stu, TBH I am so nervous about the game today(GMT+1). I know we shall win this. Cuz i wont be happy for the rest of the season if we dont. Mourinho has made Barca look like ready-made champions. Benzema is a flop at Real Madrid, although, I would have him over Chamakh. He missed a couple of goals in that match. Goodnight yall. Heres hoping to be happy by this time tomorrow. I love the Gooners.

  34. zeus

Wow! Just saw the Madrid result. Mourinho is gonna go potlessnforbthe first time in his career in a single season.

They are sure to lose the copa del Rey final and I would be confident of doing them in the cl were we to get them to be honest.
Given we get past Barcelona mind you.

  35. zeus

    Aaahahahahahah.

U can tell Rohan is nervous as f*ck. Take a chill pill mate. We done barca. A little wembley visit shouldn’t make us jittery.

Nit gonna be a stroll, but it’s hardly a world cup final is it?

  36. Rohan

You caught me, zeus. However much I try and console myself, I can’t help but have a bad bad feeling about tomorrow.

    Hope you’re right though..

  37. Rohan

Having said that, I just can’t see van Persie especially when he is captain having us lose. He just won’t let that happen.

Just for that reason alone, I’m backing us. C’mon van Persie. Get us that trophy and you’ll be an Arsenal legend if you’re not one already.

  38. Dawit

does anyone know Pedro’s or Geoff’s email address? I have been trying to contact them using the contact us form but haven’t got a reply as of yet… it would be much appreciated if some one has it.

  39. OPG

Lol at those complaining about lack of comments today, don’t worry there will be plenty of people to comment later today. It’s only the Carling Cup and people had other things to do than post here obviously.
I’ve been in bed or laying on the couch watching TV because I’ve been feeling shit all week, all thanks to me aggravating my illness by accident.

  41. DaleDaGooner

What happened here???? It’s a final folks! I’m Nervous, but there is no way we fuck this up, no way i tell you. Arsenal Football Club, 2011 Carling Cup (League Cup) Winners!!

  42. ethangooner

well its been a long time in between drinks, and definately been a long while comming silverware wise. lets hope we win. its the day ive waited for….. come on you gunners.

  43. Rohan

    Bendtner for president!

Come the fuck on you gooners! 3-0

I’m going to study or a couple more hours to complete a 10 hour marathon. Then it’s off to sleep for 5 hours ish before getting ready for an early Sunday morning pre-match breakfast.

This is it Arsenal. The time you and I’ve been waiting for. Please don’t fuck this one up.

And Geoff, I’m hoping you have a special one lined up for us here. :D

  44. reggie 57

We are gunna demolish them brummie slagg’s and send them back up the motorway in tiny bit’s!!
C’mon you Gunner’s win it for us!!

  45. SUGA3

I would love nothing more, however, you have to bear in mind that they have reached the final not thanks to being shite, they are a good cup team, no matter what the league table may suggest ;)

  46. Rohan

    Ye ye yeyeyeeyeyeyeyeyee

I’m so damn excited. Let’s do them lads.

With van Persie as captain, I just can’t see us losing. Just can’t see it happening. Every single person in the team are going to extremely focussed. What else would you expect from the likes of Clichy Sagna Djourou Chesney RvP Nasri Jack Arshavin and Song?

This is just the start of what could perhaps be our greatest ever season.

  47. SUGA3

could not get a ticket from the club and the aftermarket prices were a bit out of my price range at the moment ;)

just came back home after a two day bender, feet up and chilling it is for me…

  48. Geoff

Well enjoy the day and think of me, the last time I was at Wembley watching Arsenal was the semi against the chavs.

Today will be different, very different!

    New post.
