Theo aims to prove Capello wrong and I’m glad Nikki B is unhappy, I wish a few more were.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Theo aims to prove his omission from the world cup squad was a mistake, NEWSFLASH Theo, it wasn’t, you were hopeless.

Now that may seem strange coming from the man that once dubbed Theo ‘The saviour of England’ the same man that has never doubted Theo as a future Arsenal great, even when many fans thought him overpaid and over rated.

Let me explain my twisted logic here, Theo has always had bundles of talent, trouble is he’s rarely shown it for us or for England, this is the guy who scored a hatrick against Croatia and then nothing, playing him out wide hasn’t helped and if you saw his goal on Saturday, you may have noticed it was Owenesque and down the middle, where by the way I see him playing his best football.

However he wasn’t doing it for England and I think that Capello made the right choice, those that went ahead of him were even worse, but that’s another story, Capello not taking him was the toe up the arse this precocious and highly overpaid young man needed. Having spent his whole young life having smoke blown up his arse, he came down with a bump and probably realised he needed to start paying back those with faith in him, in this case, Arsene Wenger and me!

Well this season he started injury free and on fire, he has now added consistency to his repertoire and we are seeing the benefit of Capello’s snub, so a big thank you to the other overpaid person that is the England manager.

The great thing about having Theo is we have years of him to come and he will only get bigger and better, fantastic!

Nikki B on the other hand has dropped behind, I like Nikki but for me he won’t get better until he gets older, I think one day he’ll be a superstar, but I’m guessing he won’t wait that long, he sees the Afobe’s and the JET’s lining up and knows that he can’t hold them off and jump ahead of Chamakh, so unless he has a change of heart, I see him going in the summer, I like the fact that he’s upset though, perhaps if Denilson, Eboue and Squillaci weren’t happy being back up they might be better players for it.

If Wenger asked me to come over in the summer to wield the axe there would be carnage, he won’t though and I suspect few will go, I said in pre season that Denilson could have a Flamini season, sadly he didn’t and has proved beyond all reasonable doubt that he never will, shame, he wasn’t cheap, has cost us a ton and like Senderos, Hoyte and Aliadiere before him will no doubt just drift away into the sunset never to be seen again, I wonder how many points that lot have cost us?

So we have Djourou, Nasri and Vermaelen out, two of them our best players this season and one of them our best player last, what to do with Barcelona coming up?

Here’s my idea, what do you think?

Chezzer

Sagna Kozzer Clichy

Song

Theo Wilshere Cesc Arshavin

Robin Bendtner

Flood the midfield and play three at the back, now Sagna and Song have played centre back before so we have cover at set pieces, but with that team we can keep the ball and save us from the horror of playing Squillaci again.

Dalglish played three at the back and had Anelka, Drogba and Torres coming at them and they won that one, so what have we got to lose trying it against Wolves, who knows, it may be enough to turn Barca over, we know the alternative, we had a glimpse of that against Newcastle.

Have a great day Grovers, I hope I have given you all food for thought.

great news on JD. knew it was the swelling that delayed diagnosis. i went through the same thing with a knee injury.

  4. Honest Bill

It is remarkable how much relief Djourou’s fitness brings us. If i’d said, this time lasy year, that JD would be up there as our key man, many would have called me a lunatic.

It just goes to show what a run of games and a bit of confidence can do for a player. He deserves a great deal of credit for coming into the side like this, being still quite young and never really having had a run in the team, and still managing to establish himself as one of the better defenders in the league.

Sure Hansen and the other know nothings will say otherwise, but they are morons. JD of course has much to learn and of couse makes mistakes, but find me a defender who doesn’t.

Well done JD.. keep doing what you’re doing and ignore the idiots.

  5. Solman

It is a little worrying how fragile our season is hanging in the balance, dpendendant on the fitness of a player none of us would’ve predicted would be integral.

Wenger must be sweating a little less now for his stubbornness of not buying a CB.

  6. Taxi for Wenger

Best thing about JD is he never moans just gets his head down and puts in a shift unlike that tool Bendtner

    Cunts!

  8. Honest Bill

    Solman.

I take your point, but if you look at the other top teams, their performances are also reliant on a few key players. Take one or two key men out and they are equally fragile.

Unfortnately though, it seems that we lose ours far more often. Let’s hope our injury problems will continue to improve, and we will show what we can really do.

  9. Solman

    Bill,

True true. Now Rio is out for a bit with Man. U – we might see them drop more points.

Of course every team has key players that when they are missing, it has a big impact… I just think it is a bit naive of Wenger knowing that TV is out ad he aint gonna be able to slip straight back in, JD has a history of injury problems – leaving us with 2 x Premiership Virgin CB’s… one of which is absolutely shocking. I saw SSN did a piece on it yesterday showing the win % and goals conceded when Djourou hasn’t played and it’s quite fascinating at the difference.

    Is this brother for real????????

Abou Diaby admits he is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Patrick Vieira for club and country.

The Arsenal midfielder has drawn comparisons with his French compatriot from a young age, with there a striking physical resemblance between the two.

Vieira has enjoyed a glittering career at the very top of the game, with his commanding presence in the middle of the park marking him out as one the all-time greats.

A successful club career has seen him take in spells at AC Milan, Arsenal, Juventus, Inter Milan and Manchester City, picking up countless honours along the way.

He has also tasted World Cup and European Championship glory with France, meaning he has won just about every major honour in football.

Diaby, at 24, is still learning his trade in many respects, but the Gunners star admits he is setting lofty targets and hopes he can one day emulate the achievements of Vieira – who recently singled him out as his natural successor.

“(Vieira’s comments) are an honour for me,” Diaby told L’Equipe.
    Admiration
 WHAT COMMENTS DID VIEIRA MAKE???????

“But it will require some work to reach his level and achieve what he did. I hope to get there one day, and perhaps even achieve more.

“Above all I admired his performance in the France team. He won everything. For now, I have gained nothing. So, if I can start winning some trophies, it would not hurt.”

Asked if he could play a leadership role for Les Bleus, Diaby added: “Yes of course, why not? At one point, I think we should be ready to take the lead. If I was asked to do that, I would assume my responsibilities.”

If Diaby is to fulfil his potential, it is vital he is able to steer clear of the niggling knocks that have restricted his progress over recent years.

He admits to having been left frustrated by regular spells on the sidelines, but is confident he can put those troubles behind him.

“It’s very annoying. It’s hard to watch my team-mates practise on a daily basis while you’re on the massage table and you see them. It’s difficult,” he said.

    MASSAGE TABLE????????

“But in these moments, the most important thing for me is to look after myself so that I come back in perfect shape.”

 ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME!!!!!

None of the guys actually understand the longest in the shower question. In all the vids only Henry and Arsh have understood it.

  14. goonbubba

you know things are bad when Wenger’s weekly email says we will have to see if the weekend result has damaged us… reckon he is worried big time

  15. Mayank

Of course he is goon, it was the worst result of the year. It’s a real test of the guys’ mental strength. I hope we don’t lose our recently acquired swagger.

  16. A

He just isn’t that great RSPC! Cesc, Hleb and Rosicky made him look much better than he really was, and he was silly enough to be fooled into thinking it too….

  19. JJ

It is a sad state of affairs when our season hangs on the fitness of DJ… and it is not just because he is our best CB, it is because his replacement in diabolical.

If we fall out of comps because we had to play Squirrel then Wenger has to be held accountable for not enlisting adequate backup.

  20. SUGA3

with the Cesc and RvP all of the sudden allegedly sneezing and shitting themselves, JD’s better than expected knee injury recovery is also beginning to look like some intenational friendly dodger

    just kidding, good evening L&G…

  21. jonathan

Cesc and Robin pulling out of their friendlies? is the team learning? But really, I”m happy b/c I feel RvP is due…and this friendly seemed the perfect opportunity.

  22. SUGA3

you have to pull out your first XI players out of the friendlies like that if your squad outside the said XI may not necessarily be capable of maintaining the charge on one front, let alone four…

    and yes, we are learning!

  23. SFOGooner

WoW, Geoff is inspired by the liverpool formation ..But they play three centerbacks and we are playing one .
Don’t think it will work. Our fullbacks will be caught up the field and it will soon become a 1-9 formation ..

  24. Sabeel

yeah zeus…as usual..arsenal.com is still late

i guess arsenal.com will not post an update on JD..till they have JD with them, and run there own tests to confirm what we know..

  25. Sabeel

    Sorry to give bad news

Szczęsny sufferred a shoulder injury during Poland’s training ahead of tomorrow’s match. No further details yet….Here we go again -_-

  26. jackthearsenalripper

    By David Ornstein

Defender Johan Djourou hopes to be fit for Arsenal’s home match against Wolves this Saturday, calming fears over the extent of his knee injury.

Swiss centre-half Djourou, who missed nine months of last season with a knee problem, hobbled off at Newcastle last Saturday after hurting his knee.

But the Switzerland Football Association has confirmed the 24-year-old is only suffering from bruising.

It is a boost for Arsenal, with Thomas Vermaelen weeks away from returning.

Had Djourou been sidelined, Arsenal would have been left with Lauren Koscielny and Sebastien Squillaci as their only fit central defenders, with the Gunners playing Barcelona at the Emirates on 16 February in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.

It was Squillaci who replaced Djourou early in the second half of Arsenal’s 4-4 draw at Newcastle.

  27. Sabeel

it is 100% sure chesney has suffered a shoulder injury..

Szczesny injured his shoulder colliding with a defender. Consulted a doctor and carried on training.

    Hopefully just an injury scare.

  28. zeus

Why does fate always conspire to give our lesser boys a chance. Levae us be,………

    At least he continued training.

  29. Sabeel

Polish Scout reporting it’s nothing serious. Bit of a knock, looked at by team physio, continued training w/out any problems. Tipped to play full 90 against Norway tomorrow. How about we ease up on the knee jerk reactions a bit, huh?

    —————————-
That’s good news that Szczesny resumed training, but let’s not forget that Fabianski played an entire match after injuring his shoulder.
    ———————————

    NOW am REALLY OFF

  30. OPG

Well we’ll see oh well no point over worrying about this stuff until Thursday, Djourou is not a medical expert I doubt we’ll risk him this weekend and Barca is still questionabl atme. I guess everyone is chilling out.

  31. gambon

So it turns out rather than ‘the new robinho’ we’ve actually signed ‘the new jeffers’ in Wellington Silva.

    Apparently he’s an absolute nobody.

The Brazilians mug wenger off again, 4 years after stealing £4m off him!

  32. albo

Ignore Gambon’s moronic interpretation of this interview and listen to Jamie Sanderson of Young Guns instead:

Its important to put this interview in its proper context. Jon isn’t saying Wellington is rubbish or anything like that, he’s just saying he is much of an unknown in Brazil and won’t be missed because not many people know about him.

No way does he blast him, he just gives the Brazilian opinion on Wellington. Hopefully the people who think he is a genius from YouTube will lower their expectations and allow him to develop in his own time.

It’s worth remembering that Alex Oxo Cube was equally unknown in his own country until a few weeks ago…

Lurch it’s even funnier than you think coz its true. Born in Australia from parents of Greek origin, lived here for 43 years, two degrees, successful medical practice, beautiful wife and kids and have to pay my taxes for dole bludging cunts like that, only to be told to go back to my own country!??? makes my blood boil.
Fuck them! No one more proud to be an Aussie than me, work hard respect others who respect themselves and welcome all who feel the same.
(Unless they don’t support The Arsenal)

  35. Lurch LeRouge

haha well said angeau. & i know its real – lived there for 16 years – 2 days in the sunshine and im darker than a 1/4 blood so have experienced it first hand like you.

glad you weren’t offended by it.

  36. AA23

I thought that Australian video was bang out of order. Surprised Geoff and Pedro left that on here tonight.
I posted a similar joke video slating, useless, fat, Maltese muppets on here recently but Pedro, quite rightly, banned it.
No need for this senseless racisisationalism up in this motherfucker.

  37. SUGA3

come to think of it, Barcelona will be a good kind of ‘sink or swim’ test for Szczesny, as was never against this kind of opposition and don’t say Manure, they were pretty poor in that game…

for me it will be ‘swim’ all the way, win or lose, he will shine ;)

  38. Confidentgoner

Watched calamity Squil against Avilla away and the verdict is the same. The guy is a walking disaster. How on earth does AW unearth these duds?

  39. Confidentgoner

Watched a rerun of calamity Squil against Avilla away and the verdict is the same. The guy is a walking disaster. How on earth does AW unearth these duds?

  40. GoonerT1m

We don’t need any of the usual suspects anywhere near the barca game, how’s Sami getting on with his injury, is tv in full training yet?

  41. abnet

    morning all

i only wish we could beat them @ the grove then i dont care about what comes out of the away result really

  42. abnet

then it will set a tune for the home mach with the mancunt and liverpool and the boys ll get a very big boost for the season ahead in the league

  43. abnet

it ll be great if we could achieve that sabeel but i dont think we ve it in us to do that and barcas quality in attack its look unlikely but win is a very much possibility, in our first teams standard especially if nasri can make it i’m 100% sure we ll win

  44. Sabeel

Kush…how abt a 0-0 at emirates and 0-1 win at barcelona…just we eliminated Real :-) ..we have JD back …

    abnet

thats right, our away form is really good this season, hence i have more hope that we can do them at NouCamp…not to forget we have experience of playing there tooo…so its not unknown territory for us

  45. abnet

and i missed what was the best week in epl history ha
the mancunts lost what a gr8 news and we surrender 4-0 lead hahaha ITS ONLY ARSENE’S TEAM ARE CAPABLE OF THE EXTREMES OF SUBLIME OR CAPITULATION GO ON UNBEATEN ALL SEASON OR SURRENDER 4 GOAL LEAD ITS ONLY ARSENAS TEAM HAVE THE EXTREME OF EVERY THING !!!!! THTAS WHY WE WILL BEAT BARCA @ THE GROVE ONLY THIS TEAM CAN DO THE EXTREME

  46. SUGA3

Szczesny gave an interview to Polish press recently, once again, he sounds like a level headed lad…

when asked if he is the best GK in the country yet, he says he is fully aware that he only plays for the club & country due to Fabianski being injured and Boruc falling out with the national team coach…

then goes on to give plenty of credit for his development to Tony Roberts, finally, says that he could have reacted a bit better to keep out Tiote’s goal and that his old man told him exactly the same!

  47. SUGA3

    Gooby,

dunno mate, Meelan are not that good and Stratford-Hotsperm-to-be can be quite solid if they manage to roll out their mythical defender in King…

  48. abnet

is there any news re – nasri any tweets or some sort of info in his injury i think to beat barca we need him very much

  49. Kushagra India

I agree. I am an American living in Australia. Nice country and nice people. However, I have noticed serious racism in this country. The funny thing is that all the Australians I know go out of their way to try and demonstrate that they aren’t racist but their actions are completely in conflict to what they say.

I have seen so many acts of bullying (especially against Asians) in the workplace and bullying of females. What is it about Australian men (at least those I have met) that brings out such bullying and racist behavior? Can someone explain that?

I also find that in the workplace, the fact that I am an American is very upsetting to some people. The discrimination is subtle but it is there.

I understand that the former American CEO of Telstra was a jerk but what he said I find to be true. He stated that coming to Australia was like going back in time 30 years. There is a lot of truth to that statement in regards to the racism and discrimination against other races and cultures that I have seen.

Don’t know if that is the norm or if I have just been unlucky. Time will tell I suppose.

    Mark

    Great story!!

However you are so obviously wrong and incorrect with what you are saying, the aussies dont even like people from other states let alone other countries.

No matter how long you live there you will all ways be treated as an outsider and will all ways be looked down upon, you will be treated differently to the aussies and you WILL be paid less than the locals.

Why do you think alot of poms come home.

Answer me this, are the asians treated fairly? I think not!!

    Karl

  51. Confidentgoner

Arsenal really needs Nasri to stand a chance against Barca. The key to playing Barca is tgo work hard for 90mins, deny them space. In short, put in a shift.

  52. abnet

i ll certainly move to uk with some years sabeel for the moment its the oz plan i got and i ve two of my sisters living in melbourne so think i ll be alright but definitely in a near future i ll move to uk and feel the grove and the mach day closer

  53. SUGA3

    in the UK, you mean?

it is all so nice and PC you could puke, really…

I respect people for what they are, unless they’re dicks, but there are others who are just moderate haters who are turned into hardcores because of all that PC shit…

I mean, some bleeding hearts, allegedly Arsenal fans complaining to the club after being offended by a few Yid chants? give me a break…

  54. yonayen

ABNET!!! You’re Ethiopian?? Funny…. I’m Ethiopian/American too. Arsenal fever is rife with Ethiopians.
