Twitchy signs Llorente, Chavs get Torres, Arsenal old boy scores and we sign…

by & filed under Uncategorized.

…That’s right young imaginary world class centre back, Jack Shite, even 17 year old Chamberlain doesn’t want to join us, how predictable. Squillaci reminds me of when we signed Silvestre, he wasn’t good enough, got injured a lot and we won nothing. I see the similarities, French, too old, nothing special, injured a lot and stopping us signing what we need. Still Arsene rates him.

Oh well, I wasn’t expecting Arsenal to do anything as outrageous as improving the team so to be fair I’m not really bothered, I just look forward to those games that we win and anything else is a bonus.

Today I’m being rested, I’ll watch it on ESPN, I’m going to the Everton game so want to make sure I’m fresh, I can’t be expected to make the effort twice a week after all, the players don’t.

Arsenal don’t need to worry, they already have my money up front.

Onto today and the prospect of seeing the fringe players, it will be nice to see Diaby again before he get’s injured and comes back in time for the final. All jokes aside I really think that Diaby is an awesome player, he’s just injured too often and you saw what happened to Rosicky, 4 years of waste to come back and never feature. Having said that Rosicky should play today.

This is my best guess.

Almunia

Eboue Squillaci Miquel Gibbs

Denilson Diaby Rosicky

Bendtner Chamakh Arshavin

If they can’t see Huddersfield off, then we really should have a clear out, but I still expect a cricket score.

It will be nice to see Miquel so I hope he plays, but I’m not holding my breath. I know we still have a day to go before the deadline but given that we’ve already lost nearly a month, I can’t see the point in trying to buy someone this late on, we did it with Arshavin, but to do it again wouldn’t make any sense and unless it was a Premier league player, we would have to have a bedding in period for he or she that joined, I say she because I really don’t want to offend anyone, to be honest though, there are a few in our ladies team I think are better than Denilson anyway.

Have a great day Grovers, enjoy the Pires goal, he still has it 6 years on doesn’t he? Don’t worry about all the teams that have signed players and improved themselves, one of them have to play the mancs twice! And think of the future, we already have them in abundance. And they cost us nothing!

  1. Honest Bill

    Haha he or she.

But you’re right about one thing, it looks like we are signing nobody, as ifwe were we proably would have heard about it already. It’s not as though the Arshavin signing came as a surprise even though it was completed at the last minute.

And you’re right, if those players can’t beat Huddersfield, then some of their futures possibly need to be re-evaluated.

Looking forward to seeing Benik Afobe play. let’s hope he has a good game.

  2. A

HB afobe isn’t able to play.

I agree it looks like we aren’t gonna get anyone which is a big risk. It COULD still happen, these things can come out of the blue on deadline day but it just doesn’t feel likely.

  3. Wengclough

If at any stage Song or Miquel play centre back and it costs us points or knocks us out of a competition Wenger should do the honourable thing. He has a such a make do attitude when it comes to the transfer Market, for such a great manager it’s an incredible weakness.

  4. hitman49

    great post….

come on boys another win today ..wembley here we come.

ps,,how do i get that little pic next to my name

  5. Gooner karki

Tht’s right Wengclough ,, tht’s wenger’s incredible weakness ,, if he thinks it’l be bettr to take a defendr on loan then why isnt he doing so ??

  6. Meneurdejeu10

    Honest Bill

Afobe wont be playing against us because of the loan agreement.

Arshavin going through a tough spell at the moment. I am backing him to find his feet once again. He gave us Champions League football two years ago when we did not deserve it.

  7. patthegooner

Like you Geoff, I never expected anyone (despite Wengers words)so am not gutted.

It is the same old Arsenal Cry Wolf transfer window all over again.

It starts with a recognition that we are short, moves onto a ‘I will buy which quikly turns into a I will buy…if we find someone’ which turns into a ‘we have internal solutions’ followed by a ‘we dont need anyone!!!!’

As A says it is a massive risk, and given our recent history, these risks tend to fail. Any injury to the immense Djourou and improving Kosser will kill our season.

Personnally I would rather see a DM come in and that is where numbers in our squad hinder us. Get rid of Denilson and buy a proper DM to add depth to Song. Then at least we have Song as cover for CB if the two aforementioned players get injured.

As for a loan, I just cant see it. I hear that Man City are now looking to jump on the Chavs and nick Luiz. If that happens, maybe we could get Richards on loan??? If I am honest, I dont rate Richards as a super quality player, however when I look at the dross we have, he is an improvement on Squilacci.

  8. Doublegooner

Getting up shortly to head down to the ‘Corporate Spaceship’

HillWood made some comment in the week for fans not to expect any signings, now or even in the summer.

He then said some old shit about now letting the club go to ruin.

It’ll go to ruin as I said we’d win fuck all in July & I havent changed my mind now.

  9. Rohan

naah, they’d lose their agility which makes them dangerous. Anyway, I don’t think we really lack/need more physicality up front.

  10. incesc

    hillwood on oxbo

“The boy is a very talented young man, but he is 17 and at that age you can’t sign a player to a long contract,” said chairman Peter Hill-Wood.

“So if you buy now, he can say, ‘Sorry I am off’, and you have lost your money.”

  11. Rwandan gooner

agree with u on RVP and Chamakh needs to bulk up. Especially RVP is too loght weight. He is pushed off and most of his injuries are due to his weightlesness. Bulk up and rule the world Van the man

  12. Doublegooner

    incesc:

We have no leadership from the board.

Fizsman is supposedly an ill man.

Hill Wood is our Sir Les Patterson

The rest are a waste of time.

Gazidas does what he is told by the Clubs Boss…Wenger.

  13. Rohan

RvP’s just throws himself about too much imo. Goes into needless tackles. Of course, that’s not too much of a bad thing, if he weren’t made of glass.

  14. Raugaj

If Almunia keeps a clean sheet,he will be keeping the goals for the Everton match as well.

The hypocrite loser Wenger is more concerned about the players being loyal to him,and doesnt give two shits to the fans or their desire to win trophies.

  15. DaleDaGooner

Sad or Annoying that Wenger risk the chance for bolstering the team and doing things not based on hoping he won’t need to spend on a player, even on loan. PHW already said it, so I guess no news that Wenger won’t buy.

Admitting that you are short in an area and twiddling about, doing fuck all about it is very annoying to the fans.

Lets just HOPE Djourou and Koscielny stay fit all season….fair is he wears defenders down as the season progresses, typical.

But how Barca does it is a bit of a mystery tey typically use Pique and Poohole most of the time, and with Abidal featuring in there when on of them is out, or Milito, our problem is WE GET INJURED TOO MUCH.

I Hope Miquel gets a run in with JD on the bench, would like to se how the catalan fairs in the 1st squad.

6am kick of or us here.

  16. LAzer

Mancs have to play Chelsea twice, us, Liverpool and City all once. If they don’t get a loss in all those games I am afraid they will deserve the title and the invincible tag. Really thought Holloway’s boys would pull it off but remarkably they naively and honestly kept attacking and attacking. They should have practiced a bit of the dark arts and wasted time whilst parking the 10-man bus. Shame.

  17. Albo

Wow, still going with the sexism thing?!

Worrying that we look unlikely to sign anyone at the back. One wonders why Wenger ever said we’d have go after a central defender if it wasnt going to happen. After all, it was him who brought the whole thing up in the first place! The distinct lack of any realistic targets being mentioned makes me think it won’t happen tho…

  18. incesc

if wenger left the whole place would fall apart

    :)

last week hill wood says buying 15 – 18 year olds is our policy and more rewarding than buying top players.

then he finds out man u are after oxbo so the price is going up and he says that crap…

    they are just tight bastards

  19. LAzer

5 am’er for me Dale. Thing is la Liga is just not a very physical league. The CBs don’t have battering rams like Davies and Drogba to deal with and the refs blow the whistle at the slightest contact. Besides the winter break helps a lot as well. If you look at Barca’s squad, not first 11, they are not as strong as City, us, Chavs or Mancs I think. But that dream first 11 is ridiculous and Messi is the cherry that ices it all.

  20. patthegooner

‘Admitting that you are short in an area and twiddling about, doing fuck all about it is very annoying to the fans.’

Especially when that happens every transfer window Dale

Joe, if you read this blog a lot, you will realise that Geoff is thowing in a bit of Satire with the “I can’t be expected to make the effort twice a week after all, the players don’t.” comment

And personnally and I am sure most gooners would agree with this (even Geoff). I could not care if we win 1-0, 2-1 or 10-0 this afternoon, as long as we win and go through. We will make a lot of changes, so it will take time to click.

Massive games needed for the likes of Denilson, Eboue, Diaby, Squillaci, Arshavin and Bendtner today.

  21. LAzer

He already is Rohan, shame. I am a fed man myself but anyone over Novak is good. The bastard having Ana Ivanovich is too much reward for one man already.

  22. patthegooner

    Incesc

Hill Wood is a fossil and there is no place for him at a modern day super club. I appreciate what his family have done for the club, but they really do need to put him on mute.

  23. Rohan

It was always Hewitt for me :D although I do like Nadal.

Federer reminds me of a pompous show horse prancing about especially when he used to that gay white coat at Wimbledon

  24. LAzer

Fuck I hate Shaun White, the man is so ugly he should keep those snowboarding goggles on all the time as a public service.

  25. DaleDaGooner

Yep LAzer! It’s the physicality and winter break, But it’s remarkable how their first 11 pretty much plays 90% of games.

At this point, if he won’t sign, at least have some youngster who is ready to step in, that’s what pisses me off! He won’t spend, yet he doesn’t have a real backup in mind within the project youth. All the decent ones are loaned out to make more cash.

LAzer i’m thinking you are somewhere MST?

  26. The BearMan

The Bear is watching the Transfer Window with much interest, although he like Wenger do not wish to part with a fist full of dollars. It will be most difficult however to come to terms with Arsenal willingness to spend £40M on Benzema and leave a BiG hole at the back. The sadness for me is that all the class defenders became available and Arsenal is not financially able to afford one, not even by selling a few “tired players”. (Maybe that term is more politically correct than using the term “removing dead wood”)

  27. LAzer

don’t hate, appreciate. Nadal is terrific too for me but Fed is like Arsenal, when he is on song their has never been a better more technically qualified player imo.

Murray REALLY bottling it now!! wow. too bad. He can come back in the 3rd but taking it too 5 is going to be impossible.

  28. Rohan

Murray won’t get a better opportunity than this and he’s throwing it away. Can’t really see him getting back from this unless we see somethign special.

Either way, fuck him. Today’s the Bendtner show

Joe does have a point. That was a pretty depressing post for an FA Cup matchday! (And it wasnt’t exactly the height of satire, was it… ;-) )

  30. Jimbo

I’m sonsicknof fucking Shitmakh. You just know he’ll score a tap-in today, and all the fanboys will be out in force

  31. albo

Wow, Murray really throwing it away now. Got the tennis on the tv and the cricket on the laptop and very much wishing I had stayed in bed!

  32. Santos

I knew we were not going to sign anyone. Eventhough we win the league cup, I wish would change his policies and sign players when needed. We may fall short towards the end of the season ,as usual. Any manager who does not have an insurance policy for his squad is myopic, e.g Wenger.

  33. DaleDaGooner

I don’t agree with spending £20m on Cahill, even Fergie doesn’t…But id Bolton can spend pittens on getting Wheater why can we go look for a decent Championship defender as backup? The annoying part is even if he were to rely on Miquel as a cover back up, HE’LL be reluctant to play him as it would show that he was wrong to have not bought a CB…..I never backed insulting him, but sometimes he gets what he deserves from irrational folks.

  34. LAzer

In weird AZ Dale, we don’t switch on time change so half the year w/PST half w/MST. Totally bizarre cause nowadays when I fly from CA or NV here its a 5 min flight. After time change its a 5 min hop West. I don’t even bother with the wrist watch adjustment anymore.

  35. LAzer

Tennis not even worth watching right now. WTF Murray you bottler. I was hoping for this to keep me awake till kickoff. GREAT u wanker.

  36. Zorr0

Off to the game. Hope Miguel does not play tbh, last time the youth team played he was total cack! Still I suppose everyone has a bad game now and again!

  37. Gooneroo

I can’t find anything official about Torres going to the Chavskis or Llorente going to the Spurs. Anyone got a link???

Expecting a big score but as long as we win I’ll be happy.

Winning the CC, at least semi final of F.A cup and finishing top 3 would be a decent season (compared to the past couple of seasons anyway).

    UP THE ARSE!!!!!!!!!!!

  38. DaleDaGooner

really LAzer, AZ is a place out west i have not been to. Alot of news coming out of there. Hope to be in LA pretty soon. I remember having to wake up 4am! to watch the Arsenal once in LA….after a night out boozing..not nice!

  39. patthegooner

    Albo

In recent weeks we have made mass changes for the likes of Wigan away, Leeds home, Ipswich away based on the fact that we cant play 2 games a week. Not only that but the players called in played with such a half arsed attitude that we failed to deliver in all of them.

All I think Geoff was doing was asking the club, why should we give a fuck when it is clear that at times our players dont?

  40. LAzer

Used to be in NV last year Dale, just moved recently. Believe me I have spent countless nights out in Vegas only to hit the pub for 5am kickoff. Atmosphere is ridiculous, the ex-pat crowd always brings even at that time. And for later kickoffs (7-8am local), the amount of meetings I miss or cancel or delay till later in the day is pretty ridiculous. IF only the management wankers knew. lol.

  41. Gooneroo

    Jimbo-
Which game has Chamakh cost us points in this season??? If anything, he has helped us in games like Birmingham @ home and Wolves away.

And your comment about scoring a tap in…WTF??? You don’t get more points for scoring outrageous goals. A goals a goal and it doesn’t matter who scores it or how they score it.

  42. Rohan

Yeah there’s some sort of Bay Area Gooner group that meet up for every game be it at 4A.M or 12P.M at some Irish Pub in San Fran. It’s 21+ so I don’t really bother. Either way, I don’t really have the time.

  43. patthegooner

I like Chamakh. I dont think we were ever going to see the best of him this season, but it is an improvement in that area from last year.

It is a shame we dont play 4-4-2 as he would be a lot better in a front two with RVP. Problem is we cant play the both of them in a 4-3-3 or a 4-5-1

  44. DeiseGooner

Twitchy signs Llorente – no he doesnt, Chavs get Torres – no they havent, Arsenal old boy scores and we sign…
…That’s right young imaginary world class centre back, Jack Shite – i heard hes good!… even 17 year old Chamberlain doesn’t want to join us, how predictable – i thought we were who he wants to join but Southampton dont want to let him go yet? Or have i missed something?

  45. sam

the versatile DM i know is feyenood captain leroy fer.
even if he becames available arsene will ignore him and keep super denilson.

  46. LAzer

please someone donate facial reconstruction surgery to Shaun…fuck I can’t stand him. Don’t give a fuk if he is the best snowboarder of all time, reminds me of Carrot Top. AND no one ever ever wants to be reminded of that clown.

  47. Zak

    Cricket score !!

We’ll have plenty of the ball and territory as usual, be wasteful in front of goal as usual, look shaky at the back as usual, score just before half time and tie it up late on. We never make it easy.

On Wenger not buying I’ve said it all before and I’ll wait till tues to brag abouit being right, A and QOS

  48. choy

    Morning all..

Spurs have made/going to make a 23mill offer for LLorente it seems.

Chavs have to increase their bid to about 50 mill to get Torres!

We may see a new transfer record being set tomorrow!

  49. Gooneroo

    Cheers PTG

Zorr0- too right. Some “fans” (more like muppets) are so blinded by their hate for a player that they’d rather them play shit for us then do well.

No matter how much you hate a player, as soon as they put on the Arsenal jersey, we hope they play well.

  50. LAzer

why Santos? a player sees his club not winning anything anytime soon and has had enough of the bindipping. The manager that brought him in is gone too. I don’t blame Torres for wanting to leave but the way he is going on about it right now is bit wrong I agree.

  51. DaleDaGooner

LAzer, yep, Still mauling over if i should drive 20mins to the Londoner pub in Addison to go watch the game, atmosphere literally reminds me of London.

Rohan, I know those Bay Area Gooners. You shouldn’t be near a pub, good boy! LOL

  52. Gooneroo

The thing about MC29 is that we didn’t buy him for his finishing. Its becoz he is an aerial threat in both attack and defence…we just haven’t utilized his heading ability becoz if our style of play. We’re not the type of team to tonk the ball in the box other than if it’s a last resort.

  53. Santos

Yeah LAZEr ,I am not against his departure. He is the only player I respect in Liverpool. He should not go to Chelsea. Perhaps, Inter, Real,Barca etc.

  54. Gooneroo

Madrid recently bought Adebayor (on loan) and if they get Llorente, it’ll give us a chance to buy Benzema. Usually AW doesn’t spend much on players but Benzema is French and AW has a good relationship with him so you never know.

  55. LAzer

He has had some good looks with the head before VP came back Gooneroo but didn’t bury them. Hope that doesn’t continue today.

  56. Jimbo

Gooneroo – do you really want me to count for you?

How does a striker ‘cost us points’ – by missing vital chances? Well, Spurs would be one of those. Or being completely inept and ineffectual, unable to hurt the team in any way? West Brom, Newcastle and Chelsea spring to mind there.

What’s your criteria – I’ll refresh your memory.

  57. Jimbo

Chamakh is dreadful. I cannot BELIEVE we sold Eduardo to replace him with this absolute chump. Oh, I can actually – Wenger must be looking for a profit bonus!!!

    Wanker.

  58. boozy

geoff- about diaby, i’m glad you realise how good he can be.

i watched eden hazard yesterday. we have to get him. it’ll be like having two nasris.

i have a funny feeling we’ll sign someone.

  59. DeiseGooner

jasus jimbo now you are saying we shouldnt have got rid of eduardo? wasnt the consensus that he wasnt the same player he was due to the injury (even if he was good anyway???) and that we were right in getting an arial threat for our multitude of corners and a plan b ?

  60. Santos

Jimbo, I agree with you. MC is just average, but good to have in the squad. He needs a winger to supply him the crosses. At Bordeaux , he excelled with the wing play tactics. He is also slow with the ball. He lacks the instincts of a true 9.

  61. Goonrr

Love the line-up. Would’ve done the exact same myself. Looks a bit weak on paper but if this lot can’t beat third-tier opposition at home then we’re screwed anyway

  62. Jimbo

We have an aerial threat from corners – Bendtner, and our defenders.

Chamakh is mediocre in the air anyway. Not poor, not great, but Tim Cahill he certainly isn’t. We should have signed Andy Carroll.

Actually, I do think Eduardo was finished – and poor when he left. But he’s still better than Chamakh.

  63. albo

patthegooner – well firstly, this isn’t 2 games in a week, this is 2 games with only a day off in between.

Secondly, there was no lack of effort in the Wigan game, and the other 2 have been rectified, so perhaps its worth seeing some positive? I also think sometimes we are too quick to ascribe motives to poor performances – laziness being the obvious one – when football is far more complicated than that. Sometimes things just don’t go right for you, and no amount of extra effort really changes that on those occasions.

The bottom line is that it is an still an FA cup day and we are in all the competitions. We’re all disappointed that it looks like we won’t sign anyone, but it seems a bit early in the season for relentless negativity…

  64. DaleDaGooner

Jimbo, keep ighting the good Chamakh is shit battle, you and “Reloaded”…fact is you’ll be swing at thin air on that matter, no one cares what you think about Chamakh. Sold Eduuardo cause he wanted a fresh start else where.

  65. SUGA3

IMO, Chamakh was a good signing, carried us through the beginning of the season with RvP & Bendy out, no?

yes, his reluctance to shoot frustrates the fuck out of me, but he at least keeps HRP on his toes…

and no, we will not sign anyone, we may get some cack player on loan, but that will be all – fucking bean counters, penny wise pound foolish!

JD & Koz will get run into the ground, TV will not be able to make a telling contribution after so much time out and Squillaci is pap…

  66. LAzer

someone just yelled to Murray “do it for Harry Potter!” haha desperate times eh. Feel bad for the lad right about now.

  67. Jimbo

Yeah, Dale, our brilliant ‘one goal in last 10 games’ striker.

Chamakh is wonderful – Barca will probably come calling in the summer.

  68. DaleDaGooner

Last year, when Newcastle were still in the Championship, I told a couple gooners that Andy Carroll would be a good signing, they told me no fucking way, he is shit…Now people actually want him for £30m. Shows the fickle mindedness of fans

  69. Raugaj

    Spot on Jimbo

Shitmakh is the worst ever striker in an Arsenal shirt for the past few years. He should be playing at Westbromwich Albion if not for a retarded cunt of a manager, who is only interested in his shit French speaking players.

And this wanker would never buy a lethal striker, just because he wont be able to take the credit, when he scores 20 tapins by the chances created by Fabregas,Wilshere,Nasri and Van Persie.Torres and Villa would score 50 goals playing for us,when Shitmakh wouldnt score more than 15.

  70. Meneurdejeu10

Neither RVP, Chamakh or Bendtner have acceleration to get past a good CB.

When a 24 year old with the ability of Luis Suarez is available on the open market for 25 million euros, you have to buy.

  71. Evan

Well if we don’t sign a defender/CMD then we can all point out wengers short comings, we can even quote him like we do every year!! Its that two week period where we’re in all competitions and then we hit self destruct button, that’s the worst time to be a gunner and i can see this happening when we meet Barcelona.

All are defensive frailties are highlighted and I watch as Wenger looks dumbfounded confused and he wonders why!? Well every fan/non fan of Arsenal can see why. The thing i don;t get is if he signed a quality defender and listened to the fans then if things go bad, we couldn’t complain, i know i wouldn’t (well not as much)

Wenger quote (about Bender) People want you to deliver something special and at Arsenal they are used to seeing someone deliver something special upfront. He can deliver that. For example the goal he scored the other night was top class. (if he hadn’t scored that one goal, which game would he have used for an example??? does anyone’s memory go that far back????? For an Arsenal striker that is not Arsenal quality, thats Arsenal liabilty.

  72. LAzer

hahaha, oh that was me who posted that Rohan. Was never a WoW player at all but that clip is youtube cult classic. Never can a Leroy be mentioned without triggering that one in the memory banks for me.

  73. albo

    Jimbo says:
    January 30, 2011 at 10:49
well the thing is, albo, Chamakh for free certainly hasn’t been worth it.

Yeah, there’s clearly no persuading you otherwise. As far as I’m concerned he played well initially when we had no other options and still has plenty of time to prove he was worth going for. I’d say he’s far more useful to us that Caroll would be, given the way we play. People complain that Bendtner’s first touch is poor and slows us down, so Caroll hardly seems the answer!

  74. SUGA3

    albo,

Carroll is a battering ram with decent technique, IMO, he would be very effective against ‘park the bus’ teams, as he is using his size and strength well to make space for himself and others…

    but £30M? naah…

  75. Rohan

I don’t get the whole Torres/Villa would score 60 goals argument. Henry at his best only ever scored 30 odd in what is supposedly a much better team.

Perhaps 35-40 but 50+ is pushing it.

  76. Jimbo

Carroll is a quality striker who uses his excellent pace and size to get on the end of things – kind of like Adebayor when he worked harder.

Chamakh doesn’t have the same physical gifts, the same technique, or the same instinct. He’s a total bust – it’s an opportunity cost, more than a financial cost.

  77. LAzer

guys I knew who were WoW loyalists showed it to me back in the day albo. They mentioned how it takes literally hours and loads of planning to get to that stage or whatever. Those fella’s sound like they haven’t seen daylight in months though, the group leader or whoever I reckon deserved it for being such a douche.

Fuck Murray is a proper bottler huh. Some of these shots are embarassing.

  78. albo

The other thing about Torres to Liverpool is that if, as suggested, Anelka will go the other way, you could ask how much Chelsea will have been strengthened. Unquestionably there are advantages to having a fit Torres over Anelka – he’s younger, he’s better, he’s a bigger name from a branding point of view – but is it such a HUGE improvement? Especially when the jury is still out on Torres’ fitness and form…

(I’m playing devils advocate here as, of course, Torres is a great addition in anyone’s book, but it’s still a point worth making).

  79. albo

LAzer – yeah, never played it myself, but that’s what I heard too. That’s the funniest thing about it all – the leader guy’s ridiculous levels of attention to detail before it all kicks off.

  80. Rohan

Yeah that’s true. Back then, respawn times were so small, that you’d have to fight all the monsters again on a second playthrough to reach that part again. :D
    Changed it now i believe.

Yeah, some people take that game way too seriously. It’s a microcosm of society really, that game. It’s completely based on social status and snobbery.

Gawd Jimbo please spare us all the slagfest, heard it all before from the usuals on here. Bloody boring is what it is.

    Rohan.

It’s a ridiculous statement which only retards would make. Even Messi doesn’t get that many. It’s just people’s way of overhyping another team’s player, simpy because all they see of him is the highlights and all they hear is soundbyte punditry. Pay them no mind.

If Luis Suarez wanted to play in the Champions League, he should have stayed at Ajax. I don’t see Liverpool getting anywhere even close to the top 4 in the near future.

torres vs 31 year old le sulk

You say that mate, but Anelka has been top quality for them at times… Of course Torres’ age makes him an excellent signing in the long term, but they’re still essentially going to lose both Anelka and pretty soon Drogba. As a squad, I’d argue that results in staying on a level rather than necessarily improving…
