We took West Ham apart and if that showed one thing, it’s play your best team boss, always, don’t tinker, get shot of Leeds and Ipswich and move on, we have an easy stretch coming and now is the time to progress in the cups. I said years ago to Pedro when he fielded a weekened side in the cup against the mancs, lose this and the team confidence will get battered, we lost 4-1 and then we lost the league, history should tell him confidence breeds confidence, even when he fields a weakened side, some of the same players still feature, well let them all play boss, they want to, the fans want them to and if we are to win all four trophies this season, then we need that consistency.
We looked great against West Ham, although against a better team our defence would have been punished, that can be cured with a decent centreback.
A quick word about the spuds, they showed yesterday why they are not in our league, I counted 2 shots against the mancs, their fans also told them they don’t want to move from shite hart lane and for me they should not be allowed to, they are from North London, if they got the Olympic stadium then they would have a massive advantage over us, they would move into a ground with the best infrastructure in the country, the best rail links and all that without having to shell out like we did, that is wrong.
Also the spirit of the games says the legacy should be for the athletics and the East End, the spuds don’t tick any of those boxes, if they are saying that there wouldn’t be enough for athletics to survive on, then we shouldn’t be hosting the Olympics, if they want a ground then they should build it where they are, otherwise they would have the edge on us, Liverpool and all the other clubs wanting to build their own stadiums.

the first game was a freak – how can a team full of top internationals like chamakh, arshavin, bendtner, rosicky etc fail to beat second division opponets over two legs. leeds haven’t got a prayer. but don’t take my word for it, leeds are 10-1 to concede agoal and 7-1 to lose in 90 mins. you’d be mad to worry about this one. if we lose t will be like lightning struck twice on a lottery winner’s back cat.
so what about ipswich?
they know it’s the last chance against leeds, they’ll give it all in both games
