Almunia is staying, so why isn’t he playing then? Are Arsenal fired up for the mancs? You bet they are!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

The boss said Almunia is going nowhere, massive, massive disappointment to me reading that, and I thought Given was coming. So if he’s not going, then why isn’t he playing? He’s either good enough or he isn’t, if Fabianski is deemed our number one, then Almunia is clearly not needed, so why keep him, more of the madness of King George I suspect.

And you know who I really mean!

Not to mention worrying if we have  to suffer a whole season with Fabianski in goal.

Hopefully the Evra outburst will serve to spur our team on to a famous victory at Old Trafford, quite an attack on the team and it’s management, I bet Fergie was pissed off with that statement, still was he right? Well we’ll find out Monday night won’t we, if we win then Wenger is vindicated, if we lose then Evra was right and Wenger will be in the dock.

I have a sneaky feeling we’ll turn them over, if we don’t it will be another season that will go by where we can’t compete with the best because we don’t have good enough players, we will never have a better opportunity, aside from their hammering of Blackburn, they haven’t been that impressive this term.

And the only reason they beat Blackburn was because Allardyce will do anything to please his mentor, fat snivelling creep.

If the spuds and chavs grind out a nil-nil manana then the stage is set, imagine going 4 points clear at this stage of the season? Now that would be some Christmas present eh???

Let’s hope we have Cesc back for this game, he would give this team such a lift, imagine him and Nasri both on Song, no you filthy sods, I mean both on their game! Yuck, perish that thought!

A final thought for Ivan, Ivan Barca just signed a shirt sponsorship deal of £138mil over 5 years with some Qatari charitable foundation, maybe you should be pulling off deals like that, it may be of more use than Edelman’s pathetic £50mil 8 year deal was with Emirates, but I did say that at the time. Still it runs out in what? 3 years.

Have a great day Grovers and sorry for the delay, it wasn’t my fault!

    Keyser,

he was right to an extent: he knew that Highbury Sq was a crap idea (which it was) and that we would not be able to compete properly (which we were not)…

hence my opinion that his concernes were pretty justified…

hindsight is a wonderful thing: AW performed miracles to keep us in the top four and effectively in the CL – if we failed to do that, we would be neck-deep in shite financially, simple as…

and no, it’s not like you drop out of the CL for one year – usually, when you are out, you are out…

  2. Mayank

SUGA3, there are unmpteen researches that show, that when it comes to money, people are more likely to think with their hearts.

Anyway it’s a moot point, the board, even if they are greedy bastards, are part of a machinery. Unlike in a single ownership scenario.

  3. ritesh

    @Mayank

You would get a good answer by studying history over the past 300 years.

I studied enough history to tell you that Man has always gone to great lengths to satisfy his greeds starting in Syracuse 500 years b.c

  4. SUGA3

    Kush,

that’s bollocks – people die in the diamond mines and all along the ‘food chain’, plus, the diamond traders finance wars, the very same wars the arms dealers supply the weapons for!

and the bigger war and chaos, the easier it is to exploit it…

  5. Lurch LeRouge

    Keyser.

when you make an investment and it grows exponentially you don’t just sit back and watch it grow.
You levy more money against it – using it as security – to buy more stock and other assets. well you do if your in the business of making money, and who isn’t?

you protect that asset at all cost – emotion doesn’t enter the equation – and its naive to believe it does, no disrespect intended.

  6. Mayank

Ritesh, it’s a different argument altogether. What I’m saying is I’d be less likely to fuck over Arsenal for money than I would any other club. Because I have a connection with the club. So do the board. Usmanov doesn’t.

  7. ritesh

Sure BigRed, but thats part of the way things work.

If you stick with those who are powerful, you prosper. And RA is going to be rich for at least a decade or two.

If Chelsea had stayed with Ken Bates, they would still be dependent on him to a great extent and have won not much in return.

  8. Keyser

Suga3 – Why was it a crap idea ? Unless he predicted the Global Recession aswell, I don’t believe that he’s some sort of bastion of business virtue while everyone else used to hang onto his coat-tails.

The board aren’t thick, people call them money grubbing, well they’d have to have some sort of sense in how to make it aswell.

We’ve been planning a move for a couple of decades, this would have been carefully planned, he might not have agreed with the way it was done, but he couldn’t have simply thought that there’s no way this will work.

Maybe he just wanted to cash out ?! There could be other reasons and despite the recession we’ve done well.

  9. SUGA3

    Mayank,

with regards to people thinking with their hearts when it comes to money: that’s because they are dumb as fuck and these researches probably don’t cover the multi-million pound wielding businessmen, no?

  10. DaleDaGooner

Seriously, Sol Campbell should retire, he’s lost it, go out gracefully. Has been very poor. He actually played better for us than what he is showing right now.

  11. Lurch LeRouge

the diamond trade is a massive black market Kush.

    small undetectable precious stones.
why do you think Hitler went after the jews – because they were poor?

cmon. he needed to finance a war on three fronts.

  12. arsenal4ever

suga thats just bullshit. I hear every year the board is backing Wenger with money for transfers but this tight kunt wants to win with his kiddies. He will fail again all the way!!!

  13. SUGA3

    Kush,

can you say for certain that Usmanov was selling drugs and Kalashnikovs out of the white van?

it’s the rat and hamster situation: both are rodents, but the latter has a better PR strategy

  14. Keyser

Lurch Le Rouge – I wasn’t talking about emotion, he’s seen his investment, Geoff or someone mentioned he was given the shares for nothing ? Can’t quite remember.

This investment grow exponentionally, he’s stood side by side with the other board memebers and Wenger and seen the team move forward, he’s taken risks with that investment every step of the way, look at Wenger for example, did he really know that it could turn out soo well ?!

When it gets to the point where he’s sitting on 10′s of millions wouldn’t it just be another calculated risk on his part ?!

If you really consider, a new stadium will only drive the club forward, if not tomorrow, the day after, or a few years down the line, I don’t really see it as such a risk where he could lose everything, or even a substantial part of what he’s made.

That’s not emotion, that’s just the same gamble he’s made every step of the way, and for whatever reason he decided against it this time, or went his own way about things.

  15. ritesh

    @Mayank

    I understand your view.

When you are a big financier, money means everything. You wake up and go to sleep thinking of money and how to make more.

When you are a small shareholder, having the interst of the club at heart and your shares are not a material part of your asset, you can afford to be “big hearted”. This is why the Sicios model of Barca is attractive.

Imagine the fans voting the Board at Arsenal based on what they will implement for the club.

  16. Lurch LeRouge

lol suga is that a reference to inglorious basterds?

would you let the rat have a sip of your fresh glass of milk!

  17. Keyser

Suga3 – Yeah, but it’s one thing saying the property bubble will burst, it’s another to go into the munute detail of how it will affect everything else that it co-incides with.

  18. SUGA3

    Keyser,

well, when the property bubble bursted, it was only natural that the club would struggle to sell the flats, exclusive and upmarket or not…

we had the option of selling Higbury to property developers for a bit less, now we have earned pretty much the same, but we had to borrow the money in the first place instead of having cash in hand back then…

that’s my point – all the hassle for nothing…

  19. Lurch LeRouge

leeds had a shinny new stadium Keyser, where did it get them? nothings for certain in business.

The first thing any smart prospective investor does before investing in a company is look at the board of directors and their prior experience and history running profitable companies.

If you don’t trust the board, don’t invest your money – it doesn’t get any less black and white.

  20. DaleDaGooner

I actually support that Arsenal fans should vote the board in or out, sadly that cannot be, how many of us own the common or minuscule of shares to do what Barca fans do now?

Speaking of which, what’s up with that fanshare thingy?

  21. BigRed1

Its all a question of prorities and as the Great Bard of Stratford would have put it

Its absolutely pointless living in a paid-for mansion

When there`s fuck all in the fridge……..

  22. ritesh

    Kushagra

I do not believe that we can examine a specific case whilst losing sight of a bigger picture.

Like, Barclays is still respectable…but if you apply BAsel III, or look at its derivatives book, its bankrupt. Thats stealing as well.

  23. SUGA3

    Kush,

so, Usmanov has links with Putin and the Uzbek dictator, so what?

fuck me, it’s pretty obvious – former Soviet Union is a bit different from the western world, simple as…

and what is that with the Shinawatra article? I don’t get the corelation? besides, once again, it’s a different world out there!

  24. Keyser

Lurch Le Rouge – He’s stuck with them for the best part od 2-3 decades, I don’t think it’s that simple that he just didn’t trust them.

It’s all too easy to make his intentions fit like that, I think it’s just as simple to say he’d had enough or he wanted to cash or whatever, at the end of the day he went the wrong way about it for me. He could’ve chosen others.

  25. ritesh

    @ Bigred

then you should be happy with 4th place, a good run in the CL, a good carling cup and maybe an FA cup semis. ;-)

can have the cake and eat it ;-)

  26. ritesh

    @ Bigred

then you should be happy with 4th place, a good run in the CL, a good carling cup and maybe an FA cup semis. ;-)

cant have the cake and eat it ;-)

  27. DaleDaGooner

Andy Caroll is looking good right about now…Liverpool, top 4, since when? And we are worried we have a bad situation. Won’t even make Europa League.

  28. DaleDaGooner

If we can be greedy and say fuck it! I’d like to spend our fuck it money on getting Torres and selling Bendtner, Torres looks like he’s ready to leave Liverpool

  29. Lurch LeRouge

No keyser it wasn’t exactly new, but they did spent loads on expanding it after buying it from the council…

    Im guilty of exaggeration sorry.

  30. SUGA3

    Dale,

shame it will never happen, besides, his has fitness record to match RvP’s ;)

but yeah, he would be awesome if we could offer him service Arse stylee!

  31. BigRed1

Ah Ritesh old buddy, you can have you cake and eat it,
if your paid for house is worth £1,000,000
    and you have regular income

you may easily be able to afford to borrow £200,000

and have a Grand Design makeover

    and fill the fridge

and give your loyal serfs something back for once………

  32. pawel

    evening Grovers,

just wanted to share a thought thats been on my mind for a while: I’m more scared of Wenger messing up the team selection than the Manures themselves.. creepy

  33. zeus

Shweinsteiger stays in Munich. No surprise there.

We need a new shirt deal.

Barca’s new shirt deal (I believe that the one with Unicef was free) will only be a spit in the pan as far as their debt is concerned.

Samir Nasri to the rescue. I believe Wenger is right when he said that Nasri’s improvement is down to him being less attracted to the ball.

Blanc also said he is less lateral and more direct going behind. At this rate he will top 25 goals for the season. Composure personified.

  34. BigRed1

Lucky Carroll doesn`t play fo rus,
he`d have got a right bollocking from AKB
for doing that from outside the area…………..

  35. SUGA3

what the fuck were their defenders thinking?

he got the ball, put it on his left, aimed and let rip, while they just stood there…

    yeah…

‘could be worse, you could be a Scouse
eating rats in the council house’

  36. BigRed1

Suga3, yep, showed up clesrly, just stick a label on a midfielder with DM on it, then forget about him….

Ritesh, compare our assets, after all debts, with the tripehounds down the lane……

Yet year in year out they outspend us
and blab this is the year they overtake us, blah blah

and guess what, every year we`ve laughed and laughed and etc etc

but if you look over your shoulder there`s a bloody great juggernaut headed our way and if they buy well in january and we don`t……..

  37. SUGA3

and they WILL buy in January!

IF they manage to beat Chavs tomorrow, they will be within three points from us and that is way too close for comfort in my book!

fuck me, if they maintain good form they will be a threat and with Shitty hitting form it is a cause for concern…

now, do you think Chavs or ManYoo will drop out of the top four?

  38. gambon

Should we (& other big clubs) be seriously looking at Andy Carroll as an option?

10 pl goals as a 21 year old is exceptional.

  39. BigRed1

Chavs it is Suga3, the volcano Ancelotti about to erupt, and the fall out will destroy, John Terry will be doing 10 grand tours of the ruins

    Up Pompeii, oo er missus

  40. kev

andy carroll was brilliant today. would he play though if he joined us? VP and chamakh are the main men for us at the minute. CC and FA cup games are all hed get

  41. Gooby

i’d have caroll over bendy. But imagine the price he’d cost us

if interest there is, the press will start their usual shittalk throwing prices all over, £18, 25 or 123,6 millions.

  42. Limestonegunner

Zeus, I wish we could tear up our current deal and get on the market. We should be getting 20 million plus pounds/year for our shirt sponsorship. Plus the naming rights for the stadium were cheap too.

Everyone talks about how well run we are as a club, but frankly just to get long term deals for the stadium financing, we are losing around 15 million a year on the shirt sponsorship alone. We are underperforming commercially, but I don’t know how much can be done before the deals expire. I don’t see why we shouldn’t renegotiate the Emirates deal.

  43. SUGA3

    Limestone,

we needed cash upfront for the stadium, hence the shitty deals and I am not sure there is any way to renegotiate the deal without giving them an extension to it, which would ‘harm’ the club financially in longer term…

oh well, I guess it is better to wait for the current one to run out and hold all the cards ;)

  44. gambon

In some respects we’re incredibly well run, but commercially we’re not.

That said what does it matter, wenger won’t spend any money anyway. He has an obsession doing things on the cheap.

  45. Lurch LeRouge

He is Gooby. I’d like him to do a tour of duty like jacks, at a hard as nails no nonsense club tho.

Carroll maybe, Barton’s a thug too far. The French wouldn’t have it. And he wouldn’t come.

  46. Rohan

Carroll’s passing and linkup play has to improve if he is to ever be good enough for us imo. Newcastle are built around him and play to his strengths.

I’m unsure as to whether he will be anywhere near as effective in our system.

  47. Lurch LeRouge

Being objectve about it, Liverpool didn’t exactly put 11 men behind the ball today and Carroll had a load of space to play in for his goal…

Bendtner plays in a team where the opponents park the bus usually.

  48. Rohan

He doesn’t have the technical ability of Drogba either to be anywhere near as good as him.

Let’s see anyway. his off-field problems are hopefully sorted out.

  49. Lurch LeRouge

I’d still have him based on desire and effort, and I still rate bendy but purely on potential. Which isn’t enough, but bendy deserves a shot before we shaft him so it’s not gonna happen any time soon.

  50. Marko

I don’t think we need another battering ram but if Bendtner was to leave then why not a Gamerio or a Gervinho? Both skillful fast and good finishers and in Gervinho you’ve a guy who could play on the right and the left.

  51. zeus

    Lime

That Emirates naming rights deal is a joke. I can’t even be bothered to search just how much we get a year from it, 15-20m probably, but that is peanuts when you think of the potential earnings we could make from that.

As for the shirt deal, we should play hard ball with Nike really. They will want this relationship to continue long into the future, so it would be in their favour to make some concessions are renegotiate a new deal with us. Gazidis has said that his hands were tied in that regard though.

Aguero signs extension wit Atletico. Stupid really. He needs a step up.

  52. leon

in my opinion although i think given is far better option than almunia i dont him as a solution to our keeper problem i see given as a great shot stopper but so is fabianski this team needs a keeper with real presence and authority a david season type keeper.

when it comes to striker i think wenger realy needs a box to box striker an edwardo before the injury is needed.however since wenger is stick with the squad players like aa nasri risicky fab rvp are big players and will have to step up

  53. Gooby

agree JET needs a loan out, to a prem club where he can get games hopefully.

i am so sick it’s annoying to sit in bed saturday night, good to be on le grove :)

Gervinho is good player, very skilful but a bit lightweight.
on the other hand gameiro is an out and out striker who’ll get easy 20 goals a season with us imo. he’s a david villa type, short but well built very fast on the break, very very well timed runs, good technique and amazing finish. Plus an eye for the pass

  54. leon

lurch vela is a luxury player dont realy need him this club needs just out and out finisher however wenger has made clear that not going to happen not january anyway so the likes aa nasri risicky rvp bretna and chamkh are going have chip in lots i think that alot reasons why wenger wont get another striker

  55. MARK GOONER

a striker force of tevez van persie chamakh arshavin walcott would be awesome
sell bendtner denilson eboue almunia diaby and that will pay for it
fantasy stuff i know but im high right now and that strike force would be unrivalled

  56. BigRed1

Tevez better than Rooney but too much to gamble with his family hang ups……

Bendtner and Vela (sadly) out in January, Gameiro in plus Benzema on Loan….

Rosicky to Villa, with either N`zogbia and Macarthur from Wigan (this boy is gonna be big)

or Baines and Pienaar from Everton

    That`ll make `arry twitch………

  57. Rohan

Fuck me, I can’t wait for the semester to end. Exam week fucking blows- I haven’t slept in 40 hours and counting and have been in the library for 18 hours straight.

Either way, predictions for the United game?

I’m going for a comfortable 3-1 victory with a RvP freekick, Rosicky opening his account with a scorcher and a Bendtner goal at the end to seal it.

  58. Gooby

    Rohan

not sleeping for 40 hours is legendary and dangerous too, you may suffer from misjudgement and massive lack of concentration :D

  59. incesc

a mess with a good defensive record and joint top

we have better forwards and the best player in the world in nasri but they could easily defend their way to the title!

    its on

    love it!!

    love it

  60. Rohan

You can see there how much more class we have than those cunts up north. Fuck them all, we’ve got Samir Nasri.

Come the fuck on you red-blooded gooners! Rip them a new one..make that cunt Evra eat his words
