Who will be fit and ready when Arsenal beat Spurs to go top?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

As far as I can see all the boys made it through without injuries, though Cesc hurt his pride somewhat against Portugal! Aside from Vermaelen, Ramsey and Diaby i think all our team is fit, oh and of course Koscielny is banned.

I believe that having Djourou in again will be good as they do have some height in there assuming Defoe isn’t playing and Crouch is, I also believe that the chance to go top will see the likes of Cesc and Nasri taking no prisoners in the midfield battle, they of course will have chav reject Gallas playing for them and I hope we give him a welcome he won’t forget, give him a welcome that thanks him for his petulant displays that cost us the league title on more than one occasion.

I hope we go at them fast, like we did at shite hart lane in the cup, they flatter to deceive, they beat us in the spring for the first time in 11 years and we need to address that, we haven’t been top for a while and beating them to do that doesn’t get much better, we have been shocking at home this term and this game gives the team the chance to pay us back.

I believe the team should look like this.

Fabianski

Sagna Squillaci Djourou Gibbs

Denilson/Song

Wilshere Cesc

Nasri

Walcott Chamakh

With RVP Bendtner Rosicky and Arshavin on the bench, there are many ways we can cut the cake here, but from that lot to choose from, I can only see a thumping result for the boys in red and white. I went to the grove for a meeting, nothing to do with Arsenal, I bought a gym shirt, a new gym rucksack, a tin of mints and the latest Arsenal magazine.

The feature was on Diaby and I read it eagerly hoping I could get excited, he said the WBA result would not be repeated again this season, I expect this was written before we played the barcodes, oh well, at least he was talking it up, he said that once we win one trophy, the floodgates will open, and that I will agree with him on.

It’s crap teams like the spuds that we need to beat, yes they are crap and if we don’t hammer them, I for one will be disappointed and may consider returning the sugar free mints, yes I ate one but who cares.

If Diaby were fit, I would include him because regardless of how bad he can be, because he can also be awesome, I know a lot of you won’t agree but we are all different.

Theo has to be included because he can keep Bale quiet by running him ragged, show Bale what real speed is Theo!

So I am going for a resounding victory, then we’ll go top and then the chavs will collapse.

Have a great day Grovers, not long now for our young team to fulfill its destiny, I won’t predict a score, but I will predict a win, a resounding one too 3nil.

Okay, I lied!

BigRed1. Cesc has had 3 bad games and you want to sell him, we wouldn’t have 11 players by Jan with that logic, we all know Cesc has at least 25 % goonerDNA in him

  2. zeus

Fuckity fuck fuck. Just found out the max pac, local footy package is not gonna show the derby. I hate using shitty streams.

  3. nishanth

Cesc will soon rediscover his form.Even in the last 3 games where he struggled he managed to create 1 and score 1.He will soon start firing.

  4. Walking Wounded

Gerrard’s out for 3-4 weeks, duue to injury sustained on England Duty!

Why is the fact that he got injured such big news all of a sudden?

    Theo missed about 8 weeks.
    RvP missed about 8 months
    Djourou missed a season
    Bendtner missed 2 months

all as a reult of internationals, but now it has happened to the Scousers it is an issue

  5. BillikenGooner

Let’s have Arsenal completely go against grain and outbid Chelsea for Subotic simply to screw them from reinforcing their decimated backline in January.

We’ve become nasty on the pitch, let’s get nasty in the transfer market. heh

  6. BigRed1

Gooner DNA, I most certainly don`t want Cesc to leave but I also do not want a repeat of Patrick`s and Thierry`s final year where their heart`s were no longer with the club. That extra season nearly halved their value. Cesc`s body language is not totally about fitness, sadly.

  7. Walking Wounded

    BigRed1

Barcelona have agreed to sign Afellay, and admittedly it was for only about £2.5 million, it sends a signal that they won’t pay what we are going to ask for Fabregas, so if his body language is bad, it is because he won’t be moving for the foreseeable.

Plus he didn’t have the legendary pre-season training, with Van Persie and Bendtner, so none of them should be firing on all cylinders yet with all the disruptions, but Fab is getting more and more playing time, and he will annhilate teams towards the end of the season.

  8. BigRed1

Walking Wounded, very valid argument. I hope lack of fitness is Cesc`s only problem and he reflects on how much happier Vieira, Henry, Hleb, Flamini and now even Anelka would have been had they not left the Gunners.

that is funny. I guess Almunia has a ‘long term injury’ and like Vermalen it is not cleaar when he will return? LOL

  10. zeus

    Jag

He can only make one point at a time, and the fact that he kept Fab2 at all after last season’s hilarious atrocities is a bold statemnt on its own.

We get it, he is in charge of picking the team.

  11. wardo

    Choy @ 16:05

why dont you say what was really said ???

He actually said “Almunia is not fit…….to wear the Arsenal shirt anymore”

    :D

Representatives of £4million-rated Danish goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard fly in for Manchester United talks. New Danish No1 set to be Edwin van der Sar’s Old Trafford replacement.

Manchester United are in talks today to sign £4million-rated Denmark goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard, Goal.com UK can reveal.

A delegation from Lindegaard’s Norwegian club Aalesunds FK, led by sporting director Henrik Hoff, flew to England yesterday for negotiations with United officials.

They have been thrashing out a deal at Old Trafford today for the 26-year-old, who is not believed to be present. United chief executive David Gill was also absent at a Football Association meeting in London.

Lindegaard played for the Denmark national team in a 0-0 draw with the Czech Republic on Wednesday night but might not return to Aalesunds because the Norwegian season finished earlier this month.

“I don’t know if I have played my last match for Aalesunds,” he said afterwards. “My plan is to move on now. You have got to be a very good goalkeeper to get sold these days.”

Aalesunds top brass are believed to be keen to make a tidy profit on 6ft 4in Lindegaard, who they bought from Danish team Odense BK last year following a successful loan spell.

United have also looked at Atletico Madrid’s David de Gea and Ajax’s Maarten Stekelenburg in their search for a successor to van der Sar, who turned 40 last month and is expected to retire at the end of the season.

Lindegaard is somewhat of a late developer after being mainly used as an understudy in his first six seasons as a professional but glowing reports of his development helped him earn his first international cap in September.

Despite the Dane’s growing status, United are still believed to be interested in pursuing a move for a second goalkeeper as currrent deputy Tomasz Kuszazck is expected to follow van der Sar out of the exit door at the end of the season.

    Fine post Geoff.

Like the squad sheet. Although can’t see OGL prizing apart JD and Squid after their recent success.

    Sags–JD–Squid–Clichy
    Cesc–Song–Nasri
    Theo–Chamakh/RVP–JW

  16. DaleDaGooner

Always said Gibbs isn’t any better than Clichy defensively, but he may be a better option as a wingback.

It will be a close game, our boys usually come back tired and rusty after Internationals. Where as, Spuds scums are fresher, though their back line is a joke. AA23 and Walcott should start. Assou Ekouto is worse than Clichy, so Bale better worry about falling back, Sagna does get skinned sometimes though, anyone remember Jerome Thomas running by Sagna twice?

I think RvP will have a say vs spuds, he may start ahead of Chamakh.

And Spain getting spanked was hilarious, maybe Fabregas can concentrate more on Arsenal now that Barca are looking very ordinary nowadays, but hell, home is still home.

Talks of Ashley Young, hmm, i wouldn’t mind, but i can’t see it happening.

I really would like either of Lukaku or Hazard in at some point.

  17. Rohan

This is his latest stuff, album comes out in December. this track was first played on the radio a couple days ago.

either way, I think Ghost n Stuff is too overplayed. Strobe has to be his best song though.

  18. Honest Bill

I don’t think RVP will start against Tottenham. He didn’t get much gametime last night, and i think Wenger will prefer to give him 20 mins at the end

  19. Marko

45? Thats alright. I’m looking forward to the game I think A few players most notably Nasri and Cesc will be up for it. Who needs Van Der Vaart when Nasri looks the tits.

  20. JJ

Nasri played 90. Did really well in first half but then got put on the wing for second half and didn’t have to work as hard. My guess is he will start.

How much did VDV play for Holland? RvP will probably come from the bench.

AA also played 90 and does not recover well… but Wenger may still start him.

I think Gibbs is better than Clichy who for some reason has not reached the heights of his early years. Too many brain lapses and risky lunge tackles that leave him wrong side. Gibbs is a little smarter than Clichy for me.

  21. ritesh

    Glaspersie….shut up!

he is going to disturb the dressing room with his antics. We should sell him, whats the use of having part time players on the payroll….and what payroll too.

  22. JJ

Btw – Is there some kind of force field that appears around the opponent’s box when Clichy has the ball?

He always pulls up even if there is no one in front of him. He should either get to the by-line or attack the goal if the opportunity is there. That would make him much more dangerous in attack.

  23. Queen of suburbia

I know it’s the current vogue to claim Gibbs is better than clichy but on what evidence are we basing this?

I can only recall seeing Gibbs play half a dozen times?

  24. Honest Bill

    QOS

It’s true that it is a bit of a snap judgment.

But i think Gibbs has potential to be better than Clichy, simply because i believe he has much more about him as far as offensive play goes.

  25. Rohan

If Clichy were gibbs last night, we’d be castigating him. Gibbs was very poor last night imo. That’s probably because he still is very rusty.

  26. Queen of suburbia

Possibly bill and indeed I hope so, it’s just we have so many people adamant that Gibbs is a better option now that I’m beginning to think I’ve mislaid half a season somewhere!

  27. Queen of suburbia

I didn’t think Gibbs played well last night either rohan, not helped by the frankly useless Milner in front of him.

He struggled a bit and that was made me wonder a bit what people are seeing that makes him such a guaranteed starter in so many eyes?

  28. Queen of suburbia

RT @alandavies1: Bale & Walcott have both scored 4 & made 1 in the Prem this season.Bale’s played 1170mins.Walcott,304mins.Bale made 114 crosses for 1 assist

  29. SFOGooner

It’s funny how the defense for gibbs poor showing is the same as clichy. arshavin/milner did not help ..

That said we need the experience of clichy.. But the other wing with bale on sagna is more important to defend ..

Not sure if bale played while sagna was on for a lot of minutes ..

  30. zeus

Why are we worrying about Bale. He will come crashing down to earth. VdV is the troublesome one along with Modric. Bale?………………Pffffffffft

  31. Limestonegunner

Zeus, I am more concerned about VdV too, though it wouldn’t be bad to have some scheme for the right side that forces him to actually do some defending and that guards that spot that he always seems to shoot from at the corner of the box. He’s actually pretty one dimensional.

VdV is dangerous but he also plays so undisciplined a game (somebody posted some interesting comments yesterday where he mentioned being so bored by Mourinho’s long tactical discourses but liked how none of this happened at Harry’s Spurs!) that it does leave them unbalanced and ripe for counter attacks.

I hope our recent more direct and speedy style will pay dividends Saturday.

  32. goonermichael

I thonk there was some complacency in the wba and barcode games. They will be well up for this. The spuds aren’t all that either.

  33. Limestonegunner

QOS, those stats say it all. Lots of hype about Bale, but partly understandable given his performances against Inter and the general media love-in for Tottenham in the CL.

  34. SFOGooner

    No QoS,

Milner did not have a good game.

But gibbs was beaten by valbuena several times and that had nothing to do with milner ..

  35. Queen of suburbia

Once I think it was SFO.

Please don’t misunderstand me, I don’t think he had a good game but a lot of the time he was dealing with Valhalla (iPhone amend that I liked so I left it!) and an overlapping sagna with no help from a very static milner or indeed an exceptionally poor Barry.

My main point was that I’ve not seen evidence to suggest as many do that Gibbs MUST replace clichy immediately.

  36. Queen of suburbia

Thonk – the noise a doomers brain makes when presented with facts that don’t support his or her deeply held prejudices.

  37. JJ

QoS – I never said that Gibbs should replace Clichy immediately. Gibbs needs to get game time first. My evidence of Gibbs being better than Clichy is based on overall performances to date. Clichy was superb when he first started but makes too many catastrophic errors (of judgement) that cost us points.

To my memory, Gibbs fell over once and that cost us. Gibbs is every bit as quick as Clichy, is more football intelligent (doesn’t seem to have Clichy’s brain freeze) and has a better idea of what to do in the attacking third.

In my opinion, Clichy has regressed from what was a world class LB.

  38. Rohan

I have a feeling that Nasri will be up for this one. He hates Gallas and will want to do him.

Either way, I fancy him to grab another brace against them. He’s quickly turning into Bobby Pires Mark II. I’d like him to take free-kicks too and be our first choice penalty taker behind RvP of course.

  39. Dan,The Gooner.

im proper worried about this weekend’s derby, lets make no bones about it,them cunts have improved and our home form has been shit, that’s a recipe for a disaster on the cards,i hope im wrong but you never know.

Top of the morning/evening grovers :)

Any news regarding injuries overnight or have all our players returned to us fit and firing?

  41. David

    January,

    CB – Gary Cahill/lescott

    MF – Scott Parker

    LW – Johnson/Ashley Young/SWP

    LB – Schmelzer

    CF – Benzema/Carrol/Torres/Neymar/Aguerro/Santa Cruz

  42. Sam

    Rosicky on Bendtner

“Of course I believe he has a future at the club,”

“I don’t quite understand the question because he has been injured for a while, but obviously he has to be patient as Chamakh’s playing well at the moment.

“It’s difficult, because there’s always competition for places at a club like Arsenal.

“We have three good strikers in Nicklas Bendtner, Robin van Persie and Chamakh.

“That’s a good thing for the club, but obviously it is difficult for the players.”

  43. Socrates

    Morning all,
Wit Pires completing the move to Villa, could he play before January? I thought he can only come in after the transfer window opens and even if he got clearance there is the matter of the 25 man list submitted by premier league clubs. Don’t understand why he could play as soon as next week.

  44. A

Socrates the transfer window just restricts players whose registration has to be transferred from one club to another. As pires is a free agent he can be snapped up anytime.

No idea how the 25 man squad list works tho- I did think it had to be submitted on 31st august and that was it until January 1st. Guess they can add players to it tho

  45. A

Ozrus not to mention he’s listed Lescott, Santa cruz. swp and young which are just hilarious, as well as the fact that johnson and carrol are pretty funny ones too. Some people do like to jump on bandwagons tho, decide that the latest flash in the pan/hyped played is who we MUST have. They also forget that previously hyped players have been found out to be shite- as with lescott, young, Santa cruz

  46. Socrates

Strange that A, if indeed he can play it would defeat the whole purpose for having the list submitted, don’t think the premier league will allow it, unless there’s an upper age limit 35 years meaning a team can have as many players aged over 35 as they want… to give ol’ timers in football a chance :)
