Arsenal A vs Arsenal B tonight, why Djourou’s the man and wingers are suddenly like London buses.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Let’s begin with why I will be watching the England game tonight on the telly, first of all it will be the first time in a long time we will be watching possibly 3 Arsenal players starting, that’s if Jack is fit, the possibilities of seeing him tee it up with Theo and Gibbsy fills me with hope, the possibility of seeing them face off against Nasri, Clichy and Sagna fills me with love, yes love, love of the Arsenal, it will be like watching a practice game, I can’t wait.

With lady in waiting Andy Carrol playing, we may even be seeing 4 Arsenal players playing for England and seven on the night. Why do I say lady in waiting? Well I have a feeling Wenger may be looking at a player swap plus cash for him, he seems to like him, he’s young and with Bendtner whinging like a bitch, then maybe this is the time to do a bit of crafty business. I don’t mean cash and Bendtner, he’ll go abroad, I mean maybe a few loanees, like JET and Lansbury plus £15mil, I think that would tempt Hughton.

Moving on, if we keep Lansbury we may have just found that keeper we wanted, he may not be world class but we don’t like world class keepers at the Arsenal anyway, do we!

I was watching the Everton game again, I think if Johan Djourou is given a run, he could be that big fu-k off centre back we’ve been crying out for, for years, him and Vermaelen could be the real deal, if Vermaelen ever comes back that is!

He is beginning to remind me of our Tone, he reads the game well and has that Adams trade mark high side foot away movement, he also hoofs it into row X if needed and gets up high on set pieces, I would like to see him get more time and be the constant in the team, not Koscielny and Squillaci, pair him with whoever is fit and not banned.

So we’ve been crying out for a winger for years and now suddenly two come along at the same time, just like London buses! Who am I talking about? Ashley Young and Adam Johnson, Johnson is unhappy at City and Young refuses to sign a contract and his real love is the Arsenal. Me? I’d take a punt on Young, I’ve always liked him, he could really blossom like Pires did at a top team like Arsenal. Gérard Houllier’s his mate too so maybe a Pires / Young swap plus £12mil?

Then we could have 5 English players in the team, how about that then!

The thing is, there isn’t a lot a cash around in the footballing world just now so maybe a deal is on the cards somewhere, we still need a DM in my opinion but judging from Wenger’s selections he still believes he has those in abundance.

One last thing, can someone tell me how if Defoe made it back for the game, he will be a threat (as often happens) yet Robin comes back and is shit because he hasn’t played for ages, how does that work? It will be the same as Rooney and the Manc game, if he makes it back he’ll have a blinder (yes I know Defoe is out by the way).

Interesting debate on here yesterday, I won’t revisit it, but Darren (Anderton) you can come on today, you’ll be safe!

Have a great day grovers, enjoy watching the Arsenal team tonight and pray Gareth Bale sprains his wrist!

To be honest, I’m not really a big fan of Benzema. Just don’t think he has that pedigree in him to become truly world-class. Seems a bit thick.

  2. Rohan

Yeah, Capello should’ve been sacked after the WC. He’s highly overrated…..
Even the Wembley crowd have resorted to the Mexican wave.

  3. zeus

45′Thankfully for England, that’s half time. France has outclassed their hosts in every area. It’s men against boys.

  4. Gooby

the french are running the midfield and the rest of the the pitch too.

capello is really hopeless, kick and rush again.

  5. Confidentgoner

AM sure we have all seen the problem with Theo. He is not there and I doubt if he will make it. No footballing brain, a waste of space, reduced England to 10 men. He was easily the worst Arsenal and England player out there.

@ Pedro, Bendy played in the hole for Birmingham NOT as the main striker plus as of now Bendtner definitely has better link-up play & vision in around the goal than Carrol but Carrol is stronger than Bendy and has better hold-up play. To what extent, then that is unquantifiable

where are all the “gibbs is better than clichy” people?
I think we need to see a lot more of gibbs in the big games before we make such a statement ..

61′France have looked so clever in central midfield tonight and, as woeful as England have been, credit must be given to Laurent Blanc’s team. It has been wonderful to watch.

  9. David

Kingley he came on at half time.

I think they had a deal with Wenger so he gets playing time.

Why wouldnt Blanc take Nasri off the the Manc basitd.

  10. ritesh

Nasri will the our star player who can win us smthg this year.

that was a disappointing English team…again seems they cant play when you have an international ref.

  11. Rohan

England not only need a Wilshere who can drive the team but. They need a proper No.10 playmaker in there, someone like Fabregas, van der Vaart. Gerrard’s past it and even then, they need a proper creative passer of the ball in there.

Who’s the last proper No.10 that emerged from England….

    Rohan.

Well personally i think it’s me. but those stupid football scouts still haven’t found me yet. I wonder how much these amateurs are getting paid i really do.

As for Tim Berners Lee having invented the WWW, ( NOT the internet – massive fucking difference ), the guys at CERN and his assistant Robert Cailleau I heard did the majority of the work.

Either way, personally I’d credit the invention of the internet to the US govt. funded research during the Cold War.

The Internet was originally developed by DARPA, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, as a means to share information on defense research between involved universities and defense research facilities. Originally it was just email and FTP sites as well as the Usenet where scientists could question and answer each other. It was originally called ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency NETwork). The concept was developed starting in 1964, and the first messages passed were between UCLA and the Stanford Research Institute in 1969. Leonard Kleinrock of MIT had published the first paper on packet switching theory in 1961. Since networking computers was new to begin with, standards were being developed on the fly. Once the concept was proven, the organizations involved started to lay out some ground rules for standardization.

One of the most important was the communications protocol, TCP/IP, developed by Vint Cerf and Robert Kahn in 1974. Robert Metcalfe is credited with Ethernet which is the basic communication standard in networked computers.

Tim Berners-Lee perhaps specified technological applicability and / or linguistic construction of HTML while working at CERN, is chiefly credited for the ease of use and wide public adoption of the web. His website is: w3.org

It’s a bit rich either way to credit him with having “invented” the internet. He had a part to play in it definitely, but……

  14. Rohan

Actually scratch that, the most amount of credit has to go to Kahn and Cerf for the TCP/IP development which in essence is the crux of the internet.

We can also point to whoever came up with the spanning tree algorithm which allows networks to bridge together efficiently which is very important.

Either way, I’m going to stop now-I’m a massive nerd.

  15. Rohan

Just to clarify the part of Tim Berners Lee not having done too much of the research in developing the WWW is hugely conspiracy.

Either way, Tim Berners Lee is just one person in a long line of people who’ve been involved in what in my opinion is man’s greatest feat.

It’s a bit like how people credit Charles Babbage with having created the computer. WTF

  16. Gooby

what an odd goal by chamakh lol

i am pissed blanc kept nasri and replaced gourcuff. MotM performance though.

    spain’s result is hilarious.

we need to spank those spuds

  17. Rohan

Electrical engineering/computer science – haven’t decided which. Probably the former.

Also looking to double major in industrialeng/operations research or more likely economics.

    :D

  18. Lurch LeRouge

    Rohan.

Ted nelson theorised hypertext in 63. Yes he’s American. Just like Arthur C Clarke ‘invented’ satellites.

  19. Rohan

    Really, what’s your major?

hmm, Lurch didn’t know that.. I also know that MIT is involved somewhere too.

Here we go. “In 1965 Leonard Kleinrock developed the theory of packet-switching technology which is now the same basic technology used in the Internet.”

TCP/IP protocal still for me is the biggest breakthrough.

  20. Lurch LeRouge

Yup I know that about kleinrock. In communication and media circles, Nelson is widely known as the godfather of the Internet, arpanet was indeed spawned from MIT and linked up ucla and others. Look up nelson, not on wiki as its too brief – he’s a fascinating phylosopher. He hates the current systems, thinks they are way too simplistic.

  21. Rohan

Yeah, I was just reading an article on that and his ideas. He seems a bit mental in the genius way though.

Thanks for the shout though, he does seem really fascinating. Be sure to look into that.

  22. zeus

ame back to post the Nani video but its already here. Two of the most selfish, infantile and self centred players in the game today. Couldn’t happen to a better bunch.

Pique is playing Nani onside though.

  23. Kreshnik

Shame, Jacky didn’t play, could have at least made that shit of a midfield not get embarrassed

I know I’m late but are we still talking about job outsourcing, cuz I got a lot of ranting to take off my chest. The worst fuck ups I’ve ever seen in my career have been on outsourced jobs.

  24. Kreshnik

and also, TCP IP is just a protocol, nothing extraordinary about it, nothing ingenious about building protocols, what was ingenious at the time and different from the telephony network that the inter-network idea was based on, was packet switching, there’s where all the basic concept lies. Then there were the shortest path algorithms, TCP IP, etc

  25. Rohan

I just can’t see myself coding day in day out. I’d like something more physical. Anyway I still have another year and a half in which to decide.

I was working with the shortest path algorithm the other day and it truly is ingenious.
