Let’s begin with the Jack Wilshere challenge, silly, but exuberance no more, no less, he said sorry, he got sent off, no one died, time to move on. The down side is we have lost our best player for 3 games, if only we had a better option to replace him than Cesc, …I was kidding! We should have Cesc back to fill the void and for that piece of timing we should be happy.
Jack gets kicked about for 90 minutes a game, he was late with a silly tackle and that was that, if anyone wants to know what a bad tackle is, ask Eduardo or Ramsey, they have first hand experience, but it happened, it’s over and time to move on, as the brummie manager said, it was miss-timed and unfortunate, the sort of thing that Scholes has done for years, Essien has done since he arrived and just what the boss doesn’t like, I’m sure it won’t happen again and I would like to offer the fouled player my best wishes.
However as I said yesterday, we have to take it on the chin, Arsene said this ‘He just mistimed his tackle. He should not have done, but I don’t think there was any malicious intent. He didn’t want to injure the player’ Now on that note I agree, but then Alex McCleish and Tony Pulis said exactly the same thing when it happened to us. Whatever your views on what players do, sh*t happens, get on with it (Jack apologised via @jack_wilshere on twitter if you’re interested).
I had a difference of opinion with Pedro yesterday, I think Chamakh was clipped and it was a nailed on penalty, just like Eduardo was against Celtic, everyone has an opinion, but my is right so we’ll leave it there, anyway, he’s had plenty he didn’t get so it’s fair, we move on.
Diaby should have had a hatrick in the first 10 minutes and we dominated the game, so it wasn’t like it was close, if we can grind out results like that this season, we’ll be in with a shout.
After the Champions league game tomorrow we are at Eastlands in a must not lose game, shame Jack won’t be there but at least we should have Theo and Cesc back, I am feeling a lot more confident than I was last week, let’s just hope they don’t get as lucky against us as they did against Blackpool.
Shame about Liverpool and Rooney, how nice to see the focus of gloom shifting it’s way up north and away from us though, about time eh!
I thought Djourou put in a good shift and that bodes well for our options, I do think its time we gave Clichy and Sagna rest though, Eboue did well and I think Gibbs will too.
I’m guessing we’ll see Denilson back tomorrow and Cesc back for the weekend, I’m not too sure about Denilson, Song and Diaby in midfield but what choice do we have? Soon we’ll have a midfield of Cesc, Nasri, Ramsey and Wilshere to choose from and that I can’t wait to see, I’m drooling.
I hope Robin is fit for the Holland game in November, I would hate for them to suffer without him.
Chamakh scored a cracking goal on Saturday, he is fast fitting in and giving us that option that Ade never quite managed.
Have a great day grovers, tomorrow its back to Europe!
P.S. I have 2 pairs of tickets for the City game, e-mail in if you’re interested! Make sure you follow our twitter @Arsenal_Legrove

Do you think its ok if a player dives ade?
The reason I hate diving and cheating is because Rooney did it to us at old trafford and ended our 49 game unbeaten run. I hate when a big game is decided by a dive and think the FA should punish players that dive
Chozzer, I’d say I’m more of a fair play advocator…
In fact, the club I support is also a big fan of fair play… so I’m actually following the values of the club here.
A, I don’t really get where you are going here?
Arsenal fans in general blame everyone but the club? Financial irregularity, the stadium, dirty players, unfortunate injuries, the wind, the North West…
You’re right about people though, the last person they’ll blame is themselves. Unless they have self help books like I do.
Pedro…i like you, you are a stand up guy, BUT Chamakh, or even Eduardo did not “feign” an injury, they played to the advantage that the stupid defenders made contact, halting a goal bound playing…FIFA can refer simulation as cheating, but we all know that it’s their ineptitude to introduce technology that is the real cheating here. Simulation means to act out something…in this case, Chamakh was acting out the foul, he wanted the ref to “SEE” he was being fouled, how is that cheating? it’s like you are asking him not to snitch on the opposition.
Ade, the same 95% all said Rooney cheated.
Same thing.
TOM TOM, Chamakh did not let me down, you let yourself down by banging on about cheating by an Arsenal player, you let Arsenal down, cause you wanted us to loose…
Dale, I like you too… but put it this way, I wouldn’t leave the room if we were playing monopoly
tom tom/pedro
was rooney touched?
was chamack touched?
spot the difference for me please.even if both ended up going down easily?
then what did you both make of eduardos case against celtic?
He went down because Dann touched him inside the box!
Simples!
Why would I want us to loose? I just think our players should never cheat because we get a bad name and if we do ever win anything people will say we cheated and it will tarnish our victory
tom tom
it looks like dale is angry now..lol
he didnt let me down.maybe he let you and the spurs fans down
Eduardo dived against Celtic
Got to say when Rooney dived, he did a triple backward flip, which sol (i think it was sol) who was supposed to of fouled him didn’t even touch…….at all. 49 unbeaten ended
Oh boy, where i come from, simulating is not cheating, lets agree to disagree. Chamakh did not steal that penalty, he earned it, the moron missed him the first tie and decided to go after his leg just to make sure he doesn’t score. Now i thought Tom Tom nd Pedro will at least state that Dann cheated by lieing that he didn’t touch Chamakh, lets talk about that cheating.
Pedro…LOL..you hurt my feelings, i wouldn’t steal your hotel..or i wouldn’t caress your 100 pound note either!
What about calls for numerous handballs, wrong corners given, taking throws from the wrong places, soft penalties.
In the end it evens itself out.
Monopoly is a good analogy gambon.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTxl799Q2t4
tom tom
then why wasnt he punished after uefa review.
also you only answered 1 out of 3 questions
Are you from Nigeria Dale?
Thought so he really didn’t touch him.
No ade Rooney was not touched by Campbell
TOM TOM, parents are…yup
I watched that game in a pub surrounded by united scum. Cant believe the cunt got away with that dive
Choy, Rooney was touched by Almunia.
Of course he anticipated the foul. If he didn’t then his potential for injury is greater.
What are you advocating here? That he gets out of the way of danns swinging leg? Most fouls could be avoided that way but he wouldnt be much of a footballer if he did that!
Congratulations all those who have sought to call an arsenal player a cheat. You’ve shown yourselves to be fair minded critical unbiased folk. Kudos. I hope you’ll be hugely happy watching everpoolingham united wanderers.
I’m an arsenal supporter and fucking proud of it.
Eduardo was touched by boruc.
So was Chamakh by Dann
So Dale if I’m a defender and try to get the ball then the striker dives and gets a penalty its ok because he earned it. If I was Campbell I would have kicked Rooney in the face
Congratulation QoS, you condone cheating. A marvelous achievement.
But on a serious not, Pedro, TOM TOM, gambon, so when someone kicks the ball on an opponent to win a corner, can we call that cheating too? or when you gain a few more yards to play a free kick?
Are you ok QOS. Your posts are becoming more extreme lately?
haha, talk of Chamakh avoiding injury… dear oh dear.
now you see the difference
rooney wasnt touched but he summersulted yet he didnt let thier fans/team down.
so how come chamack that was touched has let you down.
just a clear case that we love to bash ourselves easily forgetting that in sports intelligence can win you games.but not the way rooney/drogba dives
Wait, did Eduardo wriggle in pain on the floor? Did Chamakh wriggle on the floor holding his ankle or did he get up ASAP??
Ade, when people refer to the Rooney dive, they’re talking about the one he performed last season… not 2004.
So Queen if your son commits murder its ok because he is your son? If an Arsenal player dives then I will say it and maybe you should take off your rose tinted glasses
pedro
if your own assesment was that almunia touched rooney who was running.
then why did you say it was a dive?
You clearly think getting kicked in the area is cheating pedro. That’s the real acheivement right there. Dellusion factor ten.
From a guy that has in the past condoned rotational fouling, I think it’s a bit rich and frankly more than a little hypocritical.
Me too QoS, i can accept Spuds or man u scums or chavs calling Chamakh a cheat, but fellow Gooners????? That’s sad. Where i come from, there are sports where a player blatantly fouls another to stop the flow of a game, it’s call a technical, and other sports, there is video replay to overturn a decisin…i believe if there is a video replay of Chamakh and Dunns claims, we will get that penalty ALL DAY! I’ve seen all the pundits around the world say that was a peno, but hearing Pedro call Chamakh a cheat is painful.
Ade, because he started falling before he was touched, just like Eduardo.
I know QoS thinks that’s within the rules to do that, but sadly it isn’t.
If it was, I’d have no problem with it.
If my son commits a murder??
Fucking hell, we are talking about football right? You know the game? Played with an inflated sewn bit of leather usually on grass?
And you want to talk about my offspring committing murder as if they were in some way equivalents?
Mental.
Pedro do you always swipe your oyster on the bendy buses?
TOM TOM, that is the problem there…comparing “making the foul obvious” to complete murder..talk about using a sledge hammer instead of a mallet.
Eddie was cleared of diving charges by the UEFA!
Chamakh’s case is not even being taken up by the FA, because even Birmingham did not lodge an official complaint!
Pedro, can we assume Chamakh or Eduardo were loosing balance and then the maniac defenders wanted to make sure they were really down and stop them from getting back up and scoring???
QoS, if the comparison upsets you, lets change the crime to tax evasion. If he was doing that and getting away with it, it’d be fine, right?
Lurch, buses are for poor people… you know the rules
No Dale, we can’t assume that.
Pedro…seriously, did you see Dann swipe Chamakhs leg? forget he was on his way down, was Dann right to swipe at a player on his way down anyway?
Rumbled.
Choy, OJ Simpson got away with murder… oops… I mean Harry Redknapp will probably get away with tax evasion!
haha maybe murder was an extreme example but you know what I mean
pedro
then tom tom is confused aswell cos he said rooney wasnt touched.
04..rooney wasnt touched
09…rooney was touched just as chamack was.both were all about intelligence cos rooney saw almunias hands and he took his legs there.chamack aswell saw git the touch by the brum player to win the pen.
so in all
in 04,rooney had to dive
in 09,rooneys intelligence won him a crucial pen.
on saturday aswll, chamacks intelligence won him a crucial pen aswell.
Dale, rules aren’t that free and easy I’m afraid. You can’t give a decision based on the swinging leg of a player unless that leg makes contact.
The ref was what …5 yards out and he took a long time to make the decision.
Chamakh went down easily but there was contact definitely!
Chamakh didn’t scream for a penalty did he?
The comparison upsets me because it’s devoid of intelligence.
Tax evasion? Well if you must. I’d liken it to finding legal ways of reducing the tax burden because you don’t trust the government to spend your money properly.
Ade, I’m pretty sure 99.5% of Arsenal fans were not celebrating Rooney’s intelligence in 2009.
They were calling him a cheating inbred cunt.
so Dale if Chamakh dives against city this weekend and its very obvious its a dive and wins a penalty will you say well done Chamakh or will you say he cheated?
Pedro did you get my text
pedro if you get the chance to ask a question on thursday, ask wengker if he thinks one clean sheet in the league so far is good enough.IN ARSENE WE RUST.
QoS, I’d liken it to you thinking your methods were legal, then being told they were not…
Pleading ignorance to the law isn’t a defence.
Pedro, murder and tax evasion??? We are talking about football, sports right? MAYBE THE right analogy should making sure the govt noticing that you overpaid, by pointing it out to them that you overpaid and need yu change back..
Haha. Tax is for poor people Pedro. You know the rules
Touché.
I was talking about Rooneys dive in 04.
I’m sorry pedro? You are now the authority on what is legal and not?
Nice article on diving here:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/columnists/matthew_syed/article6817829.ece
TOM TOM, IF HE DIVED…I’d look for him and ask him “oi? Makh, this is football, you don’t get points for that, but nice simulation to get the peno, more of that, but keep it real, we want to make sure the ref sees the foul clearly”
But TOM TOM AND PEDDERS, you haven’t answered my, was it ok for the Brum defender to swipe at Chamakhs foot?
QoS, I studied a large chunk of Law whilst I was at University.
Back to football…
If you fall before you are kicked, it’s diving.
Simple as that.
Dale, I don’t understand how that is relevant to the act of simulation here?
So chamakh didnt know he was ” cheating”?
I think you are getting your analogy twisted?
It would be simulation if the defender had NO CONTACT whatsover, in this case there was contact and the player even went as far as telling fibs that he didn’t touch Chamakh and called him a cheat like you are right now.
It was a dive… but not a complete dive. If he wasn’t touched before hitting the deck it would be a complete dive… but he was, so I will call it an “incomplete” dive.
Dale you are a funny man but do you not think it reflects badly on the club if we get a reputation as divers? Simulation my bollocks,a dive is a dive
Pedro ?
No QOS, I was talking about you…
You said you were lowering your tax burden…
Chamakh fell before he was touched, you accept that, but feel it wasn’t cheating.
i told you chamakhs shit,he a diving cunt
TIE! Sorry buddy! I did get your text and I’m working on it!
I’ll put it out on tomorrow’s post for you.
Pedro…. if you fall before you are kicked?? so we aren’t allowed to fall anymore in football?
pedro
you just defended our case against you.
you said 99.9% of arsenal fans were not happy for rooneys intellogence last year against us.
do you believe the manure fans would have loved him more and even applaud his intelligence and rather call almunia a fool.fact
now why are you calling chamack a cheat and not praise his intellegence the way the manure fans praised rooney, because they will never agree he cheated but rather call almunia a moron for the uneccesary challenge, just like that of the brum player.
now have concluded youv got something else i will believe youv been infected by jaguar disease.
Dan, he’s not shit by a long stretch… he’s just behaved badly.
I like him though, I think he’s really classy bar the not so classy side to him.
OK mate i wont be able to get to my phone til lunchtime, you can e mail me at work.
Reading law for dummies doesn’t count pedro
I’m going for a pint, good luck sorting out the cheating argument lol
now i have concluded you got something wrong
Careful you dont get pissed and fall over?
Ade, that didn’t even make sense?
Rooney was a cheat last year, which I stated.
Almunia was a fucking idiot for steaming out his area like that. Which I also stated.
To call Rooney intelligent is pathetic on so many levels.
You’ve got something called ‘Ilovecheat Syndrome’
It’s a terrible affliction. I hope you’re back on here when it next happens to us praising Ashley Cole’s diving intelligence.
Anyway, I’m off… I’ve got some tax to evade!
Night all!
QOS, I read the ten commandments twice…!
If I do start to fall over I’ll make sure i get touched on the way down so I can blame someone and get them to pay for my new drink lol
Chamakh was simulating before he was touched. He just got lucky… but I still love him.
Eboue’s scissor tackle was very dangerous… but I still love him.
LJW’s studs up lunge was also wreckless… but I still love him.
The media and ref’s already love to hate us. Why put more fuel on the fire. We don’t want Chamakh to get that reputation because it will hurt him (us) in the long-run.
I remember when patrick got sent off for kicking out a leg at kean, he never touched him but still got a red for intent.
he is shit pedro, chances like the one in the first half need to be taken, you wouldn’t back him in a one on one chance to win the game in the last minute,he’s far from good enough.
rooney for arsenal
It was horseface Van Nistelrooy not Keane that Vieira kicked out at
You likened it to not knowing the law properly. Not me. Ignorance is no defence you said.
I don’t see any relevance either.
Yeah interesting article Pedro. I prefer reading dystopian rhetoric however. More realistic.
Primal instincts, especially those that arise in pressure situations rarely align themselves with ‘our’ moral codIng. It comes back to, Fight or flight. Unfortunately Chamakh’s behavioural tendency is the equivalent of flight, but it’s probably not right of us to translate it as cheating per se.
Aaaaah that’s right, my bad got the image now. What cunt he was
pedro
what am trying to say is leave it out for your rivals to call your player a cheat and support your player when hes not completely wrong..
its official juguar influenza is in the building
Next time someone dives to win a pen against us a lot of people are gonna look even more stupid than they normally do.
jj
thats what am talking about.
sorry for the delay in reply pedro…stepped out for a bit….i put my hands up and applaud your consistency on your stand against cheating…..i am sure if it was an opposition player that won tht penalty a lot of gooners would agree with you abt the player being a cheat like hw i feel rooney n gerrard r cheats…unfortunately this is sport or should i say this is war…..we dont sellout our own…there are enough people out there that can and will label our players cheats but for me the number of times i have felt my team was robbed due to acts like this and the pepertrators were labelled as heroes,i have no sympathy for our foes…..let them all burn…nobody loves us anyway.by the way, just like eddie’s against celtic, i believe there was contact, however minimal
Cheeky bid for Torres???
Im sure he doesnt wanna play for liverscum anymore, cant even get out of bottom 3 – ridiculous
is dan related to jaguar?
My top 5 players I would never want at Arsenal:
1. Rooney (too ugly)
2. C. Ronaldo (too pretty)
3. Terry (players would have to lock up their WAGs)
4. Gerrard (No one would understand him)
5. Puyol (or anyone and from Barca for that matter)
TOM TOM says:
October 18, 2010 at 22:04
Dale you are a funny man but do you not think it reflects badly on the club if we get a reputation as divers? Simulation my bollocks,a dive is a dive
——————————————————
Well, call it what you want, we get called things we aren’t, i can’t stop the jealous people calling us names, after all we refer to that club down the road many awful names that they probably aren’t. And you guys call Barca names…it don’t stop them from doing what they do, does it? To call Chamakh and Eduardo cheats for something that happens ALL OVER football for decades, and on something that is very debate-able, is worrying from an Arsenal fan. He was touched and he got a penalty. If Chamakh hand-balled a goal intot he net or did not get touch at all and went down, or he held his face after Dann swiped his leg, i would join you and call him a cheat. But he didn’t do any of that, he made the foul on him obvious.
Except messi, he a fucking nightmare to defend. Would take him all day.
Bengali – Torres couldn’t hit the barn right now, let alone the bard door. No thanks.
This whole cheating business is complete distraction from the fact we are playing rather poorly at the moment and the players know it. They are resorting to underhanded techniques to win, because plan A ain’t exactly working. Sort out plan A and there will be no need to bend the regulations.
dale
have you ever heard of jaguar inflenza disease?
Ok, I’ll give you that one Goonerpower… but only because he didn’t really got involved in all that summer Cesc stuff… Probably because he is not Spanish…
Christ, Pedro, you’re a righteous one aren’t you.
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmGr4yfXBCg&fs=1&hl=en_US]
Did anyone else notice the complete lack of pace in our breaks? Chamakh gets knackered from all his hard work and we have no pace on the wings. Not the Arsenal of old.
It also drvies me nuts when I see Song in the box while Diaby and LJW are hanging back.
V shaktar anyone?
Fabianski
Sagna-Squillaci-JD-Gibbs
Nasri-arshavin-Wilshere
Theo-Bendtner-Chamakh
At least the comments are up with all this “objective”, anti-Arsenal bullshit. So, job done, I suppose.
yes Ade, it’s what is affecting this blog right now, dissing our own players.
Jack Wilshere is a dirty little cunt, he almost broke Zigic’s leg, and he twitted it, instead of visiting Zigic to make sure he was ok. I’m sure he did not mean that apology.
Lurch, i like that line up…
the pace thing is soon to be rectified with the return of walcott if he can fucking stay fit.
haha
you being serious lurch?! arshavin in the midfield?!
i’m going for
fabianski
eboue squillaci jd gibbs
cesc denilson wilshere
bendtner chamakh vela
but we have to have one of the usual abused trio in there. SDD (Song, Diaby & Denilson)
Yeah Dale. It could offer pace, width and interchangeability. It relies heavily on arshavin turning up, but he likes to, for Euro nights.
Rosicky is nailed on to start tomorrow as far as I’m concerned.
point is, he didn’t dive gambon.
Which bit of that is too complicated for you?
Yeah A. I prefer Arshie when he’s got a little more time on the ball and central. I also think he and bendy have a good understanding. Just as theo and Chamakh. It’s very offensive, but that’s the idea.
oh yeah rohan, forgot about rosicky.
i agree, rosicky rather than cesc maybe, although that is potentially too many changes
I’m reserving Rosicky as impact sub and starting on the weekend with Arshie benched.
i can’t see how arshavin could ever play in a midfield trio lurch, don’t see it ever happening certainly not from the start of a game, he just doesn’t have it in him to play there imo.
He needs a rest as well before city, i absolutely wouldn’t start him tomorrow, and possibly not at city either
i agree about the weekend, rosicky to start on the left, though actually i might consider
fabianski
eboue squillaci jd clichy
cesc song diaby
theo chamakh nasri
It’s not exactly a midfield trio is it tho, we never really sit in a distinct formation of late tho.
I’d see it that he’s receiving the ball early and utilising his vision to release our pacy forwards and rejoin the attack centrally at the end of the movement. I just don’t think he’s working that well always cutting in from the flanks.
I say play Rosicky tommorrow and if he performs play him against City too. Play both theo and bendtner tomorrow and play whoever performs better against City although Theo does offer us that different dimension. Note, he may be more effective off the bench.
lurch he has free reign to drift inside and play something of a free role, he’s just REALLY off his game at the moment, whether fatigued or just off-form/lacking confidence etc, it isn’t down to his position.
I think he just needs a rest and a kick up the backside. after about 55 minutes on sat with the crowd starting to get on his back you could see that he started to noticably put in a bit more effort.
tomorrow is a very good game to give him a rest, and even keep him as an impact sub for city.
Again. I’m benching Diaby. He had a good game at the weekend and he rarely if ever strings 2 together. He needs a breather.
Agreed re free reign. But we’re so slow getting up field at the moment, so his free reign is nullified by the oppositions doubling back.
He needs central free reign when the backs are scrambling to cover our width and he and Rosicky in Cesc’s absence are the only players who can outlet fast enough (wilshere’s getting there) to confuse the oppo.
AA needs a rest. He has played too much in recent weeks and is not a player who recovers quickly (bench).
Cesc from the bench too. Give him 20 minutes as a warm up for Citeh.
LJW, Diaby and Song in midfield. I wish I could replace Song but Wenger wont.
Nasri, Bendy and Vela as a front 3 but I think Vela stole Wenger’s lunch from the fridge one day so it will probably be Rosicky.
I hate JD in any defense. I am especially afraid of what Tevez and Silva might do to him on the weekend…
Hopefully Kozzers back for shitty. Is Verm dead?
hey ya!
Arsh is going to be in the mix tomorrow, nothing new, same cookie cutter formation and personnel
expect to see
———————Fabianski———————-
Eboue——–SS18—————–JD20———Clichy
———————–Song————————–
—————————–Diaby——————-
—————-Wilshere—————————–
-Nasri———————————————-
————————————Arshavin——–
——————Chamakh—————————
only changes i see is maybe Denilson taking Wilshere’s place or Diaby’s and Walcott and/or Bendtner off the bench to give Chamakh and Arsh a rest. If we are winning by much, maybe Vela and Rosicky may start ahead of Arsh. Nothing different or awwing.
LOL lurch
At home against a Ukrainian side, worthy of respect but I think there’s room for more rotation.
Wilshere’s suspended for 3 matches after CL, he can do 90 tomorrow or at least 70-75. Id like to see him still on when Cesc gets on.
Night creeps. Off to get my fix of spooks. Sad I know.
nite creep! 3 nil to the Arsenal
Tisk Tisk. Dudu’s playing. 3-1.
i’m not even excited about the game tomorrow weirdly … it’s the stinker on saturday i’m shitting my pants off … Tevez and Silva, wheeewww …. any points we take there is not a bad result however it comes
NOt excited cuz 2mrw is a sure win for me. B4 I go to bed, I decided to watch a legend. Your welcome.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fh7fAF6adUw
Ofcoarse it was an embarrassing dive.
We’re acting as if this is the first time he’s done it.
The inability to be honest and tell the truth in the name of being an Arsenal fan is quite silly.
Arsenal are all about Fair play.
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/columnists/matthew_syed/article6817829.ece
if anyone missed it…
lurch how can you say diaby played well,? he missed two sitters, was pulled out of position all the time, he has the longest legs but no speed!
NEW POST!
