This is something that we always seem to do to our players, we sign them because they score wonderful goals and have tricks and flicks in abundance, then we make them pass the ball to death.

Remember the youtube clips of Nasri? He looked like a young George Best, then he joined us and although a nice player, he didn’t look like the Nasri in the youtube clips, now I always put that down to the different leagues, but after the Arshavin comments, I’m thinking maybe it’s the Arsenal style, and if so, why do we buy them in the first place?

I remember watching a young Martin Hayes make his debut under George Graham, 23 I think, we all said, cor who’s that winger, he’s good and what a shot, the bloke next to me said, ‘don’t worry son, George will beat that out of him’

Ha, ha, I say the same thing to Pedro if someone has a first time shot, remember Theo, he was scoring for fun at Southampton at 15, he joined us and then forgot where the goal is, yes I realise how tough our league is, but it now looks as though Theo has remembered what he used to do and the shots are coming back, it also looks like Nasri is doing what he did at Marseille again, so on that basis I hope that Andre has been watching, take on the shot more often Andre and it will happen.

The four at Liverpool were all pretty much run at hit, first time stuff, don’t think about it.

Chamakh has said how intense he finds training, the Premier league and English football, he said they play at 100mph and the ball never goes out of play, if it’s that hard, then why don’t England dominate football?

Talking of England, Gooner Defoe scored a hatrick and we beat Bulgaria 4 zip, good news for England, but I think that the FA and Umbro have got a massive cheek changing their kit again, especially after the world cup fiasco, they should give it away, not rip the fans off again, shame on you Brooking you greedy sod.

I know it’s boring without football, maybe it’s time to take a month off over Christmas and bung all the internationals in that period, if you are good enough you’ll play, if you’re not bothered you won’t, who cares anyway, these stupid little breaks are screwing up club football and if you’re like me, that’s the important one.

    VP is at his best through the middle and definitely better than Chamakh so i see no reason to move VP out left to accomodate CHammy. It would be like playing Vermaelen at left back so we can play JD.

    I looked up Steven Defour yesterday to see what his stats were like and he’s only 5ft7 ffs. Captain of Standard liege, i thought he was gonna be big because i say a picture of him playing and he was taller than the opponent so assumed he was tall. 5 fucking foot 7? Thats smaller than Arshavin and he’s a CM. He would get destroyed in the prem.

    But maybe not since he’s probably a tough player to make up for his lack of size.

    if defour was much good hed have been snapped up long ago. well overrated id say. liege arent a major club by any means so a half decent bid would probably persuade them to part with him. lukkaku at anderlecht is only 17 or so and has scored a good few goals – hed be a better buy and has loads of time to get even better

    Well he is only 22 Kev. He has captained Liege to their first title in about 20 or 30 years (dont remember how long so thats probably wrong) and that team had Witsel, Fellaini and some other notable players who i’ve forgotten.

    I wouldnt say he’s over rated because not many people know who he is to rate him in the first place.

    Its never been more clear to me than Cesc’s comments today that he wants out but he is gonna be respectful about it.

    Better pray Ramsey’s recovery goes well and he makes up ground on his improvement in super time (I feel like writing him off til next season) and the same for Nasri and Wilshere, cause he (Cesc) is surely off.

    I think Wilshere is a bit more diverse than Hleb. He can play in either wide positions, behind the forward as the main playmaker and now it seems he can do the job helping the DM cover the defence. Hleb was more of a dribbler who was great at holding onto the ball and creating space for others.

    None of them. There is no like for like replacement for Fabregas out there. He and Xavi are equals in passing, but Xavi has never and will never score as many goals as Fabregas will over the course of a season.

    We just have to hope that Ramsey, Wilshere and Nasri can form some sort of trident to do the job.

    Ramsey in particular has the onus placed on his shoulder as I see Nasri more of a dribbler go anywhere he wants type while Wilshere is a behind the CF.

    Ramsey is the only one with Cesc’s range of passing, though not as good and w/out Cesc’s speed of thought.

    Ramsay is someone we need to be playing at least 90% of the time. Lets hope that none of the Arsenal physios are COMPLETELY in charge of his recovery. Have no faith in them at all.

    Lets hope the Welsh FA has someone, anyone really on the job. By February he should be getting back into the groove, though he should be training in October.

    A pity really, cuz with Cesc gone surely in the summer, ideally we would have loved him to have last season and this under his belt with increasing responsibility.

    Ramsey was developing very well, very well indeed. If not for Shawcross he probably would have been a regular starter this season…but not a first choice starter obviously, he would have gotten 20-25 starts easily in all comps imo.
