Nasri’s back for the Bolton game, good news at last! Squads are announced too.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Well it’s nice to start the day with some good news for once, Nasri is back in training, good, he can take Cesc’s place, just kidding, but he was playing well until his injury, in fact he was the player we all saw on youtube clip at Marseille .

There were many sites berating Wenger yesterday for his inability to sign a keeper, but I hear from one of our regulars, it was in fact the negotiating skills of Ivan and his team that messed up that one, still it does prove we went back and tried again, which in turn means that Wenger wanted someone better that what we have.

Some sites unsurprisingly backed the boss, how anyone can think the options we have is good news is beyond me, they must have low, or no expectations in life.

Still we move on, of course I will get behind any player that wears the Arsenal shirt, it doesn’t mean I have to like it though does it.

Other good news is I read we have managed to sign that 17 old Japanese kid with the broken leg, phew, thought we’d lost him, nothing like planning long term.

So Barclays announced all the squads yesterday, here’s ours, have a look at the size of our under 21′s, now we can see why our wage bill is so high, I think it’s a bit unnecessary as 90% of that lot will never see the light of day. The yes and the no bits are home grown or not.

Well I think that’s 56 under 21 players, goodness me, I didn’t check on the rest, but I’m guessing we’ll probably have the biggest young squad in world football, and with the 17 year old Japanese kid coming and Wellington from Brazil, it’s set to get even bigger.

I would still try the Chezzer / Mannone combo instead of the Flappy duo, I really can’t see what we’d lose, I thought against Fulham last year Mannone had the game of the season for our keepers and Chezzer for Brentford looked a class act, in fact his first action for us against Legia was a double save that neither of our first choice boys could have got near, so all is not lost.

Perhaps we’ll have a new star coming from nowhere this season, perhaps we’ll have a youth team player come good, perhaps Wilshere and Chezzer or Mannone can join the long awaited rank of Ashley Cole. I say rank because he was the only one I can think of that came through the ranks apart from Wilshere, and talking of our little hero it seems to be apparent that he was indeed the peacemaker in his incident, I hope now he cuts out the late night clubbing though, he’ll always be a target.

Have a great day Grovers, at least the speculation will now stop until Christmas and by then we could be running away with it, because however much we haven’t done, the chavs and the mancs have not moved either, the spuds and shitty though hmmmm, we’ll find out soon enough, let’s just hope he doesn’t throw the Carling Cup against Tottenham though.

P.S. Now the transfer window is shut, there is no excuse not to sign up for our Metro Fantasy Football league. Follow the link below for more instructions!

But players arent free Mayank so whats the point of bringing that up.

Fine so, exclude Chamakh and Gyan still cost 16m whereas Squillaci and Koscielny didnt cost more than 15m together (i dont know the exact fees but i think Squillaci was about 5m)

Either way we were outspent by a midtable team at best when we are disgustingly wealthy.

  2. ardentgooner

Fabregas going to argentina to play a friendly..fuck!!!
and Rosicky travelling to Turkey!! we are going to have some tired legs for the bolton game…..

  3. Gunnernet

An interesting piece of information is that Bebe’s former coach was in a hurry at June to find money and set a price of the player at 150.000 euros. But nobody got inerested because they haven’t see the player at high level. Then Red Nose came and gave 10 M euros to get him at Utd.. I can’t imagine that sir Alex did a bad move signing Bebe because after Wenger and Porto Utd have the best scouting network, so this tells something about how fragile the market became..

  4. mattafc

Look guys, it’s shit that we didn’t sign a goalkeeper but it’s time to get over it and just support the team – including all of our goalkeepers. Let’s just hope that Almunia will be this seasons Flamini

  5. Gunnernet

    Arsenal.com enjoys a record-breaking month

For the first time in the official Club website’s history, our monthly page views topped the 50 million mark. A total of 50,764,427 were recorded.

And u let us down again..

  6. arsenal4ever

yeah cesc rule. Now the AKB say there is no bunch of them? lol.

arsenesabemejor: I am a die hard fan since 15 years but cant go often to games as I am german. I liked Wenger very much but patience is gone as his lies are getting to my nerves each year more and more. Some people support more Wenger than the club which is a bad joke. Arsenal is not Arsene FC but I doubt it will be like this or is already but not in my view!! If changes are needed so lets do it. He said it is this season they have to deliver but look RVP wont play the whole season and a new GK was a must. Now we can wait again until jan. Until then Wenger will lie again and tell fans excusses. It is unbelievable behaviour.

  7. Stu

The .com only got a record number of hits because every twat was desperate for a new signing and was checking every 5 minutes waiting for some news.

  8. DaleDaGooner

Can arsenal4ever and whoever else tone down on the “Yank” references? We have Americans who support Arsenal too you know.

  9. arsenesabemejor

Arsenal4ever who are these people that support wenger more than arsenal, I have never met any have you its just a made up phrase, dont believe everything you read! We have started the season very well whats to say it wont continue?

  10. arsenesabemejor

So dale people can use whatever language they like on here but the word yank is politically incorrect? They use the word yank themselves

  11. mattafc

c’mon Stu you knew what I meant, although I would rather we get a great season out of Almunia and have him leave over him having a shit season and staying. Wouldn’t you?

  12. arsenal4ever

sorry DaleDaGooner. It was never my intention to hurt some americans. Just dont like Gazidis as it seems he is nowhere in Deins liga.

  13. arsenal4ever

I thought you are arsenesabemejor but it seems not. But why the hell a lot of peope singing there is one AW? These people I think are AKB. They wont disagree with him and follow his path till the end.

  14. DaleDaGooner

arsenesabemejor, I said TONE DOWN, i didn’t say people weren’t free to express their bigotry if they so wish to. You seem to always have an issue with peoples comments on here, like you know it all.

arsenal4ever, apology accepted on behalf of american gooners, RE gazidis, it’s not all his call you know, Wenger admitted that the club gives him the freedom to make financial and tactical choices. Not negotiaiting properly for a goalie throughout the summer is all Wengers fault. Left to Wenger, we would have not signed Arshavin, it was Gazidis who broke the transfer fee record while Wenger was unwilling to break it for Arsh.

  15. Arse&Nose©

Wajid Shamsul Hasan is the pakistani high commissioner, the man is a scumbag and is on TV every time pakistan is in trouble.

Let me give you a run down of his accomplishments

    * destroying evidence that linked high ranking pakistani officials of corruption
    * blame the EU for the rise of terrorism in pakistan
    * blame david cameron for inciting terrorism
    * blame india for carrying out the bombay attacks on themselves with secret undercover agents who pretended to be pakistani!
    * blame the pakistan cricket corruption scandal on the british media, saying it was a set up and that pakistan are innocent

sorry, when I’m not getting worked up about arsenal I turn to politics!

  16. arsenesabemejor

Dale the term yank is not a derogatory term but a shortened form of the word yankee, so for you to try to say it is , is in fact wrong, I only have issues with some comments isnt that the point of a forum or would you rather everyone agreed?

  17. arsenesabemejor

arsenal4ever yes there a lot of people singing theres only one arsene wenger but that alone does not make them all AKB’s they are just showing support for the manager, thats what fans do

  18. Doublegooner

Middle Eastlands are launching a new TV advert for the next transfer window.

  19. arsenesabemejor

David the fact is though until january at the earliest they are our keepers and will perform better with the fans behind them

  20. arsenesabemejor

David Almunia hasnt been shite this season so far and I think he will really try to prove his critics wrong lets hope he plays well all year it acn only be good for the team

  21. arsenal4ever

@ DaleDaGooner: but dein would have pressed Wenger more to do the deals quickly as he was longer involved in the club and a die hard gooner!! Gazidis is new and surely not a die hard gooner. He is a business man nothing more. Wenger cant be allowed to do all his targets for his own!!! No manager in the world has more power like wenger, fact!!!

  22. Jon

I never knew Wenger had THAT much power. I’m sure if the board wanted to, Wenger could get the boot easy.

But hats off for all the work that Arsene Wenger put in for building the club as we know it today. True, his managerial skills come to frequent scrutiny as glaringly obvious problems are apparently not properly addressed. One of which is our goalkeeping department. Whilst it is sad that we’ve not signed a new keeper, there have been additions in our defense.

It would have been better of course if Arsene did sign a new keeper; he should’ve known that by doing so, “most” fans would lay off him for a while. Until the new keeper f*cks up as well of course. Haha, that’d crack a lot of people up. Wonder if the AKB’s would hunt down the anti-Wenger’s band of merry men then.

Satire aside, let’s get behind the team. We’re at our 4th game, with an impressive 2 wins and 1 draw. I can’t find fault with our keeper yet and hope it stays that way. Keep the faith for the next few games and see how things pan out. We can call for Wenger’s head when our team falls apart solely because of silly, stupid goalkeeping errors, if ever it does happen again since the 07/08 season.

  23. Goonerman

From an author of a Fulham blog:

‘The potential deal of Mark Schwarzer going to Arsenal did not happen. I don’t think you can blame either team in this situation. Both managers were trying to improve their clubs.

Arsenal and their fans can now move on. I think the Gunners are going to have a very successful season. I picked Arsenal to win the League, and I have seen nothing to make me change my mind.’

  24. DaleDaGooner

arsenesabemejor: SHort term for Yankee, yes, used in derogatory connotation by some brits. You know what, i shouldn’t answer you, me and arsenal4ever have settled it, what you think or say is inconsequential. It’s my opinion and i’m entitled to express them.

Arsenal4Ever, i agree with you on David Dein v. Ivan Gazidis, but it was the board who gave Wenger the power to pick and choose personnel and financial dealings. Gazidis is their to sign off on Wengers list and sign the checks. Gazidis presses on, If Wenger does not want to move an penny more, IT IS Wenger wo tells Gazidis how badly he wants a player and it is Gazidis job to make it happen, …my point if Wneger says Our 4 Goal keepers are good enough, then Gazidis takes that into consideration. No doubt, Gazidis job is to bring in money for the club and make the business profitable, but Wenger has the final say on football personnel.

  25. cesc rule

ive read other blogs, they are mentioning abt LG…the hitler issue.news are spreading fastttt.haha..akb also likes to read lg eh…?haha

  26. LAzer

Sooner or later their will be keeper error. The problem is not that it does not happen else where and with other keepers but with ours they will melt with the pressure this time. They all know we were in the market and the fans will be on their back in an instant for a mistake. That pressure will only make things worse.

Arsene you may have set yourself up for a torrid few months if there is an error at the back at some point. You better hope and pray.

  27. LAzer

And thats the worst place to be for a keeper cesc rule. They have no where to hide. One mistake and they will be shitting bricks rest of the 90. I support Geoff in calling for Chezzer, at least blood him in the Carling C instead of Flappy again.

  28. ritesh

am disappointed with that Wilshere thing…such a bright performer, English,at Arsenal since he is 9 and he comes up with such stupidity.

    Crazy really. Such a shame.

  29. TOM TOM

Whats all this about Chezzer? As far as I know the boy is only 19 and that is much to young to be thrown in the first team. It takes years for a keeper to gain the experience needed to step up to the highest level and if we try him now it could ruin him

  30. cesc rule

dale- hmm more to central part eh..well nice to hear americans supporting arsenal..well most of them watch american football,baseball,basketball,etcc..daytona..hehe

  31. TOM TOM

I lived in America for three months and i seen alot of premiership jerseys around. Most towns have sports bars that show premiership games but its usually early in the morning and they have a ten dollar cover charge. Its great if you need an excuse to start drinking at 7 in the morning

  32. DaleDaGooner

well south west and east coast to be precise. AND YEAH WE WATCH A WHOLE LOT OF FOOTBALL, we have pubs and we have FOX SOCCER CHANNEL!! along with ESPN. Along with grid iron football, basketball etc, yes. But Daytona, baseball are least of my worries.

  33. DaleDaGooner

Yep, if i feel like mixing it up when Arsenal plays at 9 or 10 am, i go to “The Londoner” in Addison, TX to catch games, it always feels like you are in a London pub,,,he he

  34. DaleDaGooner

Oh yeah, TOM TOM, loads of Premership jerseys. My job had a Jersey day (around the world cup) and there were loads of Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool (lots of Americans follow Liverpool, Man U and ARSENAL) also Chelsea, Real and Barca shirts all over the place. The last El classico, the ESPN bar was filled up!

  35. BillikenGooner

I’ve lived in Cleveland, St. Louis, South Florida and now Birmingham (Alabama) heh…

all of them but the place named after a city in England have pretty big football ‘culture’, if you want to call it that.

In St. Louis the sport is huge. Hence my avatar name and the university I went to: St. Louis U. Billikens. 10 time national champs. ; )

  36. DaleDaGooner

The EPL banter is as crazy as it is in England, most Americans that follow EPL follow it to the core! I once had a client who was a Leeds fan, here i am thinking wow, and he was American as they come. He knew everything about the Leeds United team of the past. It’s a shame Arsenal is not taking the US tour serious, so many Gunners in the US dying to watch the team play in the US.

  37. DaleDaGooner

Yes Billiken, St. Louis is probably the most football (soccer) craziest city, i mean natural love for the game, shame they can’t come up with a team, what ever happened to the A.C. of St. Louis????

  38. BillikenGooner

I graduated in 1993 and moved out of town in 1995, so what is happening there now, I don’t know.

It is a shame that they have gotten screwed for a team the last few go arounds. I think the MLS is taking it for granted because its such a big sport there that they want to try to expand to other places first.

I’d love to see a Chicago – St. Louis rivalry start up in soccer, it’s already beyond heated in baseball and hockey.

  39. DaleDaGooner

Anyway, a little on the goal keeping issue. So Almunia for number 1, Szczesny for number 2, Mannone 3. Fabianski should be shafted!

  40. DaleDaGooner

BilliKen, I’d love for the AC St. Louis thing to come through, MLS just thinks St. Louis is not a big TV area, and they are wrong. Screw Timbers and Vancouver, I’d take the Lou in MLS over those 2 cunt teams, no offense to their fans, but we need to embrace the natural order of things, what is Soccer without St. Louis?

  41. DaleDaGooner

Sixx, i agree, My team, naturally, is Red Bulls (hate the name, love the team, and With KING HENRY in, hmm) but I find myself always cheering for Seattle. My 2nd favorite MLS team.

  42. sixx pac

Also The game is played at a higher pace when Chammy and Rosicky are on and Theo loves that. Are Chamakh and Tomas better than Robin and Cesc? No way but I think thats a very effective plan B

  43. DaleDaGooner

Shite! ANB, LOADS, My 2 mates are Gooners, we have a coupe of Chavs, But the Arsenal following is MASSIVE, there are dedicated unofficial Arsenal Supporters around many cities. Just at my Job, i saw 4 different people where AFC jersey in 1 day.

  44. DaleDaGooner

But i won’t lie, because so many people are new to EPL, ManUre and Chavs are generating more fans and these 2 clubs are milking it big, HENCE MY FRUSTRATION WITH WENGER!! he refuses to tour the states, he refuses to buy stars and he refuses to win, Americans love winners, but I love the American Gooners that i meet cause you know they have genuine passion for the club, good or bad. I think the American Chavs and Manures are bandwagon followers.

  45. DaleDaGooner

Sixx, i think Freddie will be signed soon, I hope he gets into an EPL team and not some second rate Spanish team.

  46. sixx pac

Here in Jamaica the masses follow Utd and Liverpool. Liverpool mainly because of Johnny Barnes. Then there is Arsenal. Then u have the bandwagon supporters of Chelsea(no one here knew who they were 10 years ago) Citeh and Spuds. Who the fuck cheers for the Spuds unless ur from there

  47. BillikenGooner

Whether it is here or in S. Florida, I am surprised at the amount of Mexican-Americans (or just plain Mexicans) I see in Chelsea jersey’s… and Real Madrid.

There is a restaurant near where I live that is run by 3 Lebanese brothers that are die hard United fans. Kind of a pisser, but they make good food.

  48. DaleDaGooner

400 die hard gunners in NYC, i mean it’s not much, but add the odd numbers who aren’t registered to this club and it’s a massive following and that’s just in New York!

  49. sixx pac

I agree with that Dale. Us not winning anything for so long is making it harder to convince younger kids to become gooners. If somethings not done soon we could end up like Spuds

  50. DaleDaGooner

Florida originally, but float between New Jersey and Texas, lived in the New York metro area for several years before taking up residence in Dallas, Texas

  51. DaleDaGooner

LOL…yup BilliKen, You know an imposter when you see a powder blue “Etihad” jersey….An even more cunt would be a lillywhite fairy-wearing American yid.

  52. DaleDaGooner

American Gooners laugh at Spuds as much as any North Londoner Gooner, that’s how deep the following is. But in the US, I’d say the bigger rivalry is between Gooners, ManUre and Chavs, we get laughed at when we loose, my goodness, they day Wigan thrashed us 3-2 was one of the worst days in my life, my cell was off for a day!

  53. Arsene Nose Best

best time to make the trip to the emirates is when it’s not so much of a glamour game, easier to get a ticket.

  54. DaleDaGooner

Wyclef Jean is also a gooner
sadly Osama and Fidel are also gooners to the core! I guess the Jaguars and gambons aren’t that bad gooners…LOL

  55. Zorr0

Dale, should be easy to get a ticket soon, there were lots of plastics saying they were not going anymore because we did not sign a keeper!

  56. Sooper Gunner

fuck me and call me stupid but i just realised the point of the blog. I was half afraid that at the next home game the entire lot of you will turn up and along with the away fans singing that horrible paedophile song, you all will start singing that Arsene is a Mugabe or Arsene is a Hitler.

I just realised that this blog is a place where you can leave all those negative feelings behind and at the same time make your point and then get behnd the team the next day.

    atleast i hope that is…

  57. Zorr0

Many moons ago I used to compile a extensive list of celebrity Gooners for one of the websites, although some were a bit spurious in their celebrity! I will have to see if I can dig it out.

  58. DaleDaGooner

Zorr0 not signing a keeper does not stop me from supporting my club. I’d gladly take the spares, i already told Geoff once, but i gotta plan proper

  59. Pedro

Sooper Gunner, you can leave any thoughts here and back the team. We’re all gooners, we’re all fanatical about the club and we all have the teams best interests at heart.

  60. DaleDaGooner

Spot on Pedders, Just cause we love the club doesn’t mean we should watch it rot in “also ran” status each season.

I spoke with both and both were knowledgeable about the club (and lack of signings). I felt bad because I wasn’t wearing one of the 5 jerseys I had brought over…

London, you’re not banned, we just vet your comments because you’ve said some pretty mean things about us over the past few months on other sites… which is a shame, as I’ve always enjoyed your insights into soccerball.

  66. DaleDaGooner

Pedro, and do you really think Wenger will get Akinfeev? i just can’t see Wenger bending to the masses. That will mean he would have to shell out top wages for a player he is forced to get.

I dont think Wenger knows what hes doing from one day to the next anymore, he is so far removed from the guy who took the PL by storm.

He certainly wont sign Akinfeev, as it goes against the current policy of profit, profit, profit.

  69. DaleDaGooner

Yeah, Kevin Costner became a gooner when he was invited during the Robin Hood filming, he was taken away by the atmosphere at Highbury and fell in love instantly…

  70. DaleDaGooner

It’s amazing, especially in the US, the people who follow Arsenal to the core, and all Wenger can repay us is with a boring transfer window, empty trophy cabinets in the last 5 years, You’d be ashamed how many kids are turning to ManUre and Chavs, not to talk of Real Madrid and Farca. But we still have more fans than the cocks, shitty. Liverpool, i can say is way up there, maybe on par with ManUre or even more American fans.

  76. LalaGunner

Come to think of it, theres no denying Wenger has alienated fans’ support. As long as he is in charge there will be those who will stay behind his back and those who reckon that change should be around the corner.
