Jack’s a witness, Cesc is miserable because he’s not playing great and Robin’s Ok. Expect Schwarzer to sign today.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Let’s first of all clear up this Wilshere incident, someone was attacking a bird in Kensington, he stepped in to save her and now the police want to use him as a witness, he is a hero, so I wish the press will stop the rabid dog headlines and leave him alone, I would make him champ of the week but the way Theo has started, that wouldn’t be fair.

CHAMP OF THE WEEK, THEO WALCOTT! BY A COUNTRY MILE.

Cesc is playing badly by his standards, so when the boss took him off, it was understandable he was fed up, he is our captain, he doesn’t want to go off, let’s not forget he stopped us going one down though, once the window closes he’ll step up, don’t worry about that.

What did amaze me was he handed the armband to Song, who handed it to Vermaelen, who handed it to Almunia, that to me is humiliating him, he has twice tried to replace him, giving him the armband is taking the mick and I wish he would stop doing it.

Pedro said yesterday that our defence was all over the place again, he is right, I wouldn’t say it was Koscielny’s fault, yes he was skinned, but Sagna should have been there, the real issue is that for me he is not the centreback we need, he is too much like Vermaelen and even he is not the Tony Adams type we need, maybe Kozzer will end up as a DM, either way it’s not working at the back. Arsene, you have 2 days, don’t mess about again, go and get a keeper and a centre back and do it today.

I expect Schwarzer to sign today, he has told Hughes he wants away and Given was managed by Hughes, so providing City let Given go, then the merry-go-round will begin. Squillaci has signed already, but I’d like another one. Big strong, no nonsense centre back plus a decent keeper and I’ll be happy.

Other than the same old problem at the back, I thought we looked so much stronger in the middle, all bigger and stronger and less likely to get knocked off the ball by the EPL bullies.

I am concerned about Robin though, is he brittle or unlucky? I now think he is brittle, and when you add Bendtner to that I don’t think we have enough up front, we could do with a forward, we have no one coming through so we need to bring someone in, Adebayor anyone? He can’t get a game at the moment, ha, ha, oh and I am kidding!

The good news is that Robin only twisted his ankle, so he’ll be back, and Chamakh is an able replacement so I’m not too fussed, but we are only in August and I am concerned.

Well no football for a few weeks but I have no doubts we will be glued to the internet until late Tuesday evening, have a great day Grovers, it will soon be over.

Ho would Sky have knowledge of this before Arsenal, or is it that the web team can’t be arsed to update. Anyway, several weeks due to a twisted ankle is shocking, we’ve all had one and it takes no longer than a week to forget all about it.

  2. Pedro

Mayank, political correctness and being offended is a way of controlling people…

Nothing said in any of the comments today has been offensive. We’ve never been strict on what people can say unless it truly is out of order. Why should we scrub peoples comments that are clearly said in jest?

Catering to overly sensitive people isn’t my cup of tea… it’s so fucking boring and for what? Because someone chose to find offence?

Man up is all I’ll say.

  3. BillikenGooner

If I’m allowed to delude myself with thinking we will get another signing in the next 24 hours, I will do the same and believe that RvP’s injury is just a ruse to keep him out of international duty.

  4. Limestonegunner

Deise, he may not be good enough on a consistent basis, but he seems to play better when he has to fight for the spot and doesn’t get complacent. Some of that creative tension and anxiety may have been behind his fierceness, aggressiveness and willingness to confront Blackburn players. We don’t see that from him as often as is needed. So we do need another keeper, we would all agree, I think. Will we get another one and will the new keeper really be dramatically better? I think it isn’t looking great, but even a keeper that could push Almunia would be better than staying with the situation as it is.

  5. Pedro

Limestone, I think there’s a big difference between making an light hearted jibe that would be deemed inoffensive enough to appear on South Park… to making monkey chants in a football stadium.

I’m not singling you out… just in general, people who never comment on here and only decide to pipe up when someone slags Song off, or makes a comment about french players.

  6. Limestonegunner

    Billiken,
That would be crafty and so unlike our behaviour in the past. We always are sending everyone, despite Wenger’s complaints, while Chelsea and Man U are always getting their players off the hook for meaningless international friendlies and the like.

I wouldn’t mind us demonstrating a bit of self-interested craft. So I hope you are right.

  7. Honest Bill

I hope all this isn’t about the comment i made about Jews being shape shifting-reptiles who are trying to take over the world.

Of course i don’t really believe that, it was an absurd comment and was meant as a joke.

Of course they’re not trying to take over the world, they’re perfectly content with broadway musicals and law firms.

  8. Limestonegunner

    Pedro,
I am glad you aren’t singling me out for that criticism, since I first posted on football and then noticed those comments and then kept posting on football. I wish I could post more frequently than I do, but alas there is too little time and so many bloggers posting at this site!

  9. Mayank

Not everyone is overly sensitive about everything, just that on a world-wide forum some things can pinch some people.

Just think about it this way even someone as nonchalant out as Franchise took offence to that silly comment by Gambon, which was clearly in jest. My point is unless it’s you (or your people) who is at the butt of the joke it’s a bit preachy to tell people what they should or should not be offended by.

I’m not telling you how to run a blog, nor do I think it’s even possible to police comments. Just that there’s no reason to think that the person getting offended is somehow at fault.

  10. Limestonegunner

HB,your’s was so obviously a caricature of the old stereotype–I got a chuckle about it and your latest both!

  11. Mayank

I hope the current trend of RvP picking up a 10 day injury before an international continues. As opposed to him doing the same during or after.

  12. Pedro

Mayank, like I said… that person has to man up.

It’s girly to get offended. Dish some back if you get upset easily… it’s called banter.

  13. This is England

Whilst we are on the subject i dont suppose the police will take action against Blackburn or any other fans with there songs against Wenger. Not politically sensative enough?

  14. bnsbhat

people who never comment on here and only decide to pipe up when someone slags Song off,

Must confess I do find it intolerable when people slag Denilson (-:

  16. BillikenGooner

I think he really twisted his ankle (kind of early to remove him from the match for that strategic of a move), I’m hoping for the 10 days (or 2 weeks) to be a precaution to keep him out of international duty over that period.

  17. dennisdamenace

The best part of Denilson ran down the inside of his mother’s leg………..the wobble headed fucker!

  18. Mayank

Miso what now? Nevermind I’ve googled it. Makes the entire comment a bit pointless now. I think you should delete it.

Where did I put my medicine.

The best part of Denilson ran down the inside of his mother’s leg………..the wobble headed fucker!

    Thats pretty unnecessary

  20. Limestonegunner

Frankly, as a non-Jew, in this case, I think it is rather more manly to speak up about issues and risk being dismissed as overly sensitive, and now it seems–”girly”–than just staying silent. But to each his own…

On to football?… It is amazing that nothing is done about those Wenger songs. I remember there was some attention to it at the game away at ManU when Wenger was sent off and the ManU fans chanted this stuff. Fergie and the club supposedly said they were taking some action to discourage it. But it seems it happens at grounds all over. When did that start?

I know there is often criticism of Wenger here, and I’ve done a share of raising my concerns or objections to the manager, but I have to say we have a dignified figure who deserves more respect from opposing managers, fans and the punditocracy. What a fool Pulis is–credit to Wenger for making those comments as this might have helped the team against Blackburn and we got a decent refereeing performance out of Chris Foy out of it, perhaps. Props to Holloway for his comments–and clearly Wenger has a drink with some managers. Of course, to confrim all the stereotypes about high brow Arsenal and le Professor, he had a glass of wine!

  21. dennisdamenace

I dunno about unnecessary, all i was told was that the real footballing talent was his twin brother, but that fucker was still born, so we got left with the circus act, a juggler, who can only juggle his own fucking wobble head………

  22. This is England

Do we have any jews that play for us i know we have a couple of musis, scares me when the commentators say they exploded into action.

  23. Sabeel Indian Gunner

People should try to NOT base there confidence on what others think of them,in THAT way *the targetted party will not feel hurt/guilt,but not many realise this…work on Self-confidence i must say..

  24. Pedro

TIE, I don’t think we do?

RVP, Eboue, Nasri and Chamakh are Muslim. Song is Christian. Jack Wilshere is a have a go hero.

We’ve got the lot at Arsenal!

MArko you need to man up…

    ?
On Denilson the guy hasn’t even kicked a football and he’s already getting the abuse.

  26. Pedro

Marko, he’s been with us the best part of 4 years now… I know a lot of his games are kind of forgettable… but he’s definitely kicked a ball.

  27. dennisdamenace

I dunno Geoff, i was hoping he was Welsh, as it would give me another reason to loathe the perennial whingeing fucking losers….

  28. Marko

I wouldn’t know the difference between a jew and a christian. In fact I think mad religious people are suckers. It’s all make believe

  29. Mayank

Yes Marko. And in future try refraining on comments made to get a reaction. It’s very girlish.

On a totally unrelated topic, I think by the end of the year everyone will be trying to get a Denilson 15 shirt.
For me if he can bulk up he’s a better DM than Song.

  30. Marko

This season though Pedro. I can see it’s no point arguing on Denilson so I won’t but some of the comments on him are perhaps more accustomed to a convicted rapist or murderer or paedophile or Hitler.

  31. A.F.C Lambo

    Marko
MAN up for fuck sake . Denilson is shit and always will be unless in pub team then he will be captain.

Did I say something to offend you.

  33. BillikenGooner

Wilshere is Charles Bronson from Death Wish.

Late night vigilante justice on the mean streets on England.

  34. Geoff

    Who mentioned Hitler?

Mayank, several of my posts have said I have a feeling he’ll do a Flamini this season, if he doesn’t though, he needs to go, because for 4 years, he’s been a disappointment and a waste of money.

  35. Mayank

Nah Marko I was just kidding. Trying to illustrate a point, very poorly.
I do hope Denilson proves his critics wrong, he has something about him.

  36. Mayank

Geoff, I think he’s been a bit unluck in his integrating into the team. One season he was expected to play 50 games unprepared and the next he was injured.
His stats can’t be total bullshit can they?

  37. Limestonegunner

Wilshere should keep his day job. It is tough to keep young lads in at night, but this second career is not good for his Arsenal one! What’s next a cape, mask, and tights? Save it for the pitch, Jack–nice job on Samba…

  38. Marko

I think the lack of rumours on other targets suggests that only Schwarzer will be joining before the close of the window. Unless something happens tomorrow.

  39. Carlos

Anyone else suspicious over v.p’s injury? It looked innocuous at the time and we discovered afterwards he’d be out for around two weeks – the same time period for the international break – with netherlands playing two qualifiers in that timeframe, could wenger have told robin to give the games a miss and save himself for our upcoming fixtures after last year’s fiasco?

    …..I’m just suggesting

  40. ardentgooner

Another England footballer has won a draconian injunction to gag the media from reporting revelations about his private life – the second in a week.
The multi-millionaire, who cannot be named, is a father in a long-term relationship. He won the restrictive order last night banning a woman from publicising personal details about him.

A similar injunction was granted to a fellow England international last week after he discovered a Sunday newspaper was planning an exposé.

The latest footballer to use the courts to prevent unflattering publicity about his personal life earns around £100,000 a week and has played for several top clubs.

He is the fourth sports star this year to take legal steps to prevent public scrutiny.

Last night, critics said he is part of an increasing trend which allows highly paid sports stars with access to expensive lawyers to exercise legal rights denied to ordinary members of the public.

In addition, the latest example of media censorship will reignite the row over judge-made privacy laws which have never been approved by Parliament.

Instead, the orders are based on judges’ personal interpretation of human rights laws.

Under the strict terms of the injunctions, neither of the footballers involved in this week’s actions can be named, despite the Daily Mail knowing who they are.
Both orders were granted at the High Court in London by Mr Justice Nicol, on the grounds that the revelations would breach the footballers’ ‘right to a private and family life’.

Breaching such an order could result in criminal prosecution for contempt of court.

  41. BillikenGooner

Hopefully there is no gag order on finding out millionaire playboy Jack Wilshere is really…. Batman.

  42. rookie

very good post geoff.. n sorry If I am jumpimg straight into conversation, Eboue and Diaby are not muslims.. but you are right avbout other pedro, Traore is also a muslim btw

  43. HendonGooner

Nice one Van Persie – plays a full World Cup tournament – comes back and barely lasts one game before being injured. Now out for a few weeks. Bravo!

For fcuk sake Wenger dump this crockbond and bring in someone to replace him.

Once again the squad is to frail to last the season…..
    Another GroundHog Season looms….

  44. Marko

Just noticed that it was the dutch federation who broke the news about Van Persie’s injury. So I wouldn’t be surprised if he was back for Bolton or just after.

  45. Limestonegunner

We don’t know exactly when RvP will be back, but probably won’t need to miss too many games. As long as he is back and fit for CL we’ll be alright given our fixture list. In the meantime, we have Chamakh, and I think he is playing pretty well. You can’t expect, HendonGooner, that there will be a new striker who can come in with less than two days left in the window. More important is GK.

  46. Limestonegunner

With Given looking like he’ll be staying on at City, it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting Schwarzer in, unless there is another obvious target for Fulham. I will be pretty disappointed if there isn’t a new GK coming in and wonder if we have any other targets. Even someone to challenge Almunia, who plays better when he is competing.

  47. arsenal4ever

MS deal not dead. He could even be in talks with us. Update from Gooner Chris from Goonertalk and he is always reliable!! Stay tuned

  48. Pedro

Guys, I wouldn’t listen to any of the blogs… no one really knows what’s going on. If anyone has a decent source, the best they’ll have is someone at the training ground. No one in the know is going to be filtering gossip to bloggers if they’re in the inner circle.

  49. MatthewT

Big Dave well he isn’t injured forever and would be very good for us and city would have probably sold Hart before Given got injured and we need a keeper back then as well.

If we don’t sign a quality keeper by the deadline we will be an absolute laughing stock and have no chance of winning anything.

  50. Arse&Nose©

The footballing gods have conspired to give Almunia one more chance, he is a nice guy I do feel bad for him when he gets stick- I just hope he can live up to our expectations this year.

  51. Arse&Nose©

no point looking at it negatively if we have no choice.

If no one comes in by the deadline I will give my full support to Almunia and hope and pray he proves us all wrong.

  52. chozzer

    Pedro,

In response to your earlier question…..

I thought the defensive display at Blackburn was good in that we only conceded one goal. On another day, the same performance may have conceded 3 or 4. I always think the margins are very fine.

I’d like us to be like Chelsea and Manyoo and wrap up games when we go ahead but it just ain’t gonna happen.

I thought the result was magnificent, partly because I was at Ewood enjoying the day out but mostly because we got the 3 points.

  53. Pedro

Chozzer, which is pretty much the jist of my match report. A great win… but shoddy defending that will cost us against better teams.

Which is why I don’t understand why you’d call that negativity? That’s just pointing out what you knew already.

  54. Pedro

Goonerman, it’ll all work itself out in the end.

I don’t know if I believe a 34 year old Shay Given will accept being number 2.

  55. arsenal4ever

lol pedro a 15 year old world class talent? BTW Gooner CHris was sarcastic sorry for excited you guys. I am no Gstar rumour bloke, fact :-) !!

  56. arsenal4ever

@ cesc rule sometimes yes sometimes not, lol. Depends how drunken I am :-) . BTW where is Gstar, I think I miss his bullshit :-) .

  57. arsenal4ever

really hope you are right Pedro. MS wants to come us. Fulham needs a replacement and already looking at alternatives as Given is a no go. And I still think a sneaky bid on loan or permanent for another player besides GK. We all know Arsenals or Arsenes track record for cheeky late bids in transfer window.

  58. BillikenGooner

    What is worse:
Wenger really believes Almunia/Fabianski can be world class CL/PL winning goalies this season?

    or

Wenger thinks we need a new goalie but likes playing chicken with our season for a few million pounds and never had much of a real backup plan in the case he couldnt get Schwarzer?

  59. gambon

If worse comes to worse cant we just offer Fulham any of our GKs on loan for the season?

    Surely Szczesnt would interest them?

  60. chozzer

I can’t see Fulham wanting Almunia or Fabianski when the whole footballing blogosphere has labelled them shite.

  61. gambon

Yep cos Mark Hughes & the Fulham board all read le-grove im sure!!

Obviously no one will ever want Fabianski, but Szczesny & Almunia would both be in demand.

  62. chozzer

I thought that save when he cracked his head on the post was excellent.

Seeing Samba in the flesh made us realise that it was almost a case of defend the second ball. He’s fuckin enormous.

  63. arsenal4ever

Glasperie out for 3-4 weeks. FFS sell him. Pedro you where right we should have tried to get Ibra. I really like VP but if he cant stay fit for 1 fukking season he needs to go. We arent a fukking hospital or regeneration centre!!!

  64. cesc rule

a4ever – yeah..i missed his overhyped rumors.all caps comments.haha,,and then there’s another guy who imitate him..hehe..well the transfer window is closing, guess that’s the end of them..
