Ben Arfa back on the radar but me, I’d have Taylor above the lot.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

With Frimpong out for the season and Nasri out for a month, Wenger’s midfield plans have gone awry, so there is renewed talk of us having Ben Arfa, and to be fair he was on the cards before Samir Nasri, but if Squillaci, the longest transfer since Koscielny, who was the longest transfer since Nasri takes place, then we are getting way too many French players in my book.

I have nothing against the French, not even the fact that most of them collaborated with the Germans in World war 2 and did shell the Royal Navy when the 8th Army was on it’s way to Egypt and Libya.

It’s because we are in danger of having cliques in the dressing room and that can’t be good, so on that basis I would sign Steven Taylor as a centre back, he isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but he is a classic English hard man and that’s what we lack, a shouter as well, and if we had Schwarzer or Given behind him, then we would have a rugged spine running through the team, more Anglo Saxon than Gallic and it’s what we lack.

I also understand he’s holding Lansbury back (from loan) as he plays DM as well, whether our Henri is ready or not I’m not sure, but Denilson wasn’t and Song wasn’t and he threw them on, so I wouldn’t be unhappy if we kept him around.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Ben Arfa, but do we need him? I would give Vela more time and alternate him with Rosicky out on the left wing, he is starting to look the real deal.

Anyway Wenger has always said no more than 3 and if Schwarzer and Squillaci are coming then he’s already gone past it, so I can’t see it happening.

Not a lot else on, other than the speculation so let hope for some news today, but Arsene, Taylors for sale, we can’t lose there and he doesn’t get injured like Djourou, so go and get him, he also has the bonus of being home grown and EPL tested.

Have a great Day grovers, today could be moving day!

Fuck. Goal.com is crap. I was wondering how barca and man utd made it into the same group when they were both in pot 1. They only just corrected it.

  2. Geoff

And the reason you all drive on the right was we started on the left and Napoleon didn’t want to do what we did. I can’t forgive that sort of petulance, Wenger is similar with his refusal to buy decent players.

    And Napoleon was Italian.

  3. Lurch LeRouge

no Real Madrid, phew bullet dodged

Group A: Inter Milan, Werder Bremen
    Group B: Lyon, Benfica
    Group C: Manchester United, Valencia
    Group D: Barcelona, Panathinaikos
    Group E: Bayern Munich, Roma
    Group F: Chelsea, Marseille
Group G: AC Milan, Real Madrid
    Group H: Arsenal, Shakhtar Donetsk

  4. Geoff

And what about that bird that was shagging Goebbels in Inglorious Basterds, she was French, how could she shag him?

Why are people killing themselves over Wenger’s statement about the goal keeper. You will die before Wenger if u take every thing he says to heart.Isn’t he the same person who said Eduardo was in his plans and yet sold him barely a week after wards?I think he will still sign schwarzer but he just wants to big up his useless clowns so to boost their confidence and to get buyers for them.Or he wants almunia to #2 a la Lehmann so he wants to delay the signing of MS till late in the window that Almunia gets no club and then will be forced to stay until January at least.

  6. Ja_Gunner

I hope both us and Shaktar go thru….Eduardo deserves it..but Braga beat Sevilla so they should be a decent team….

  7. BillikenGooner

They could have dispensed with half this crap and just started it with the subtitle “The Inter Awards Show”.

  8. mcmellish

dont see the spuds going through. Even with a cock as a manager inter will be too strong and bremem are a good team despite the way they qualified against what was a fairly strong sampdoria, not to mention how many injuries they have.

Can someone tell me what the wafer cup is? That woman kept calling it the wafer cup… I have never heard of that!! ;o)

  10. kingsley

we could do with playing the away game at shaktar towards the end of the schedule…when do they announce the fixtures?

  11. kingsley

just seen gazidis and his miserable mug on the tv…maybe he will chat to a few big wigs and land us a keeper.

  12. gambon

    big dave

I find it hard to believe that sitting on a big old plane seat watching uncle buck can in any way affect a players ability to perform.

  13. Pat

We always get the “easiest” group, but all the teams we got are champions of their country.

Well, Braga were very close but were runner-up.

  14. peter

I await all great Arsenal fans in Doneskt. I can’t wait to watch my favourite team(Arsenal) play live. I cant wait to see le proff, fab, v persie, and the verminator…..God i’m so happy, its a dream come true

  15. kingsley

getting out of this group is clearly easy but its the effect it has on us in the league games after away trips.

  16. Baafuor from Ghana

If McLaren was still at Twente, I bet the yids wouldn’t even make the Europa league when they get knocked out the Champions league.

  17. gambon

Braga will be easy for us.

We have the ability to wipe the floor with seemingly good teams that have a few weaknesses.

We only struggle against quality opposition.

It will be like Porto all over again.

  18. Baafuor from Ghana

Traveling to Ukraine and Serbia will be really tiresome.I hope we have some easy home game after those travels

  19. Pedro

Well, can’t knock that group can we?

Shaktar are a good side… the others… well… not so sure they’ll be able to cope with us!

    Happy days!

  20. Tunde

Did someone say bragga is tough because they hammered seville? Sorry is seville now in the same class as arsenal!? Also I don’t think their form should scare us as we don’t know what kind of form they will be in by the time we meet but watever form it is, I sure as hell don’t see them beating us, I can bet my father’s house on it and I really love that house:D

  21. peter

keyser- Eduardo is doing really good but, he is not the main player there. they have a lot of brazilians in that team and especially Douglas Costa the little magician. The guy is too hot to handle….but definitely, we will dispatch them with ease

  22. Doo Woop

    HAHA, Liverfools

1834: GOAL Trabzonspor 1-0 Liverpool (Gutierrez)
    .
1829: “YOU ARE ALONE HERE” reads a banner from the Trabzonspor fans – tell you what, they do lovely welcomes don’t they, Turkish supporters? Only about 20,000 inside the Huseyin Avni Aker Stadium, but they are making one hell of a racket. Teams are out, we’re gonna start shortly.

    pedro

ajax might stun millan and go tru along real…whatever it is its millan or ajax…if we play well we are already thru to the quarters…FACT

  24. gook

    pedro

ajax might stun millan and go tru along real…whatever it is its millan or ajax..cos real will be top and we meet second.if we play well we are already thru to the quarters…FACT

  25. Baafuor from Ghana

    We are really fucked cos looking at our fixtures, it seems we have very difficult away games after our Champions league games;
-Sunderland away after match day 1,
-Chelsea away after match day 2,
-Manchester City after match day 3,
-New Castle at home after match day 4,
-Aston Villa away after match day 5,
-Man Utd after match day 6.
What wrong have we done the FA?Its bullshit! It will really be a strong test of Character for our players especially in November and December.

  26. Pedro

New pressing tactic? That’s exactly what we started last season doing… about as new as our 4-3-3 formation.

  27. Tunde

Barfour luk on d bryter side of thngs I’m sure thngs will get rosy when we qualify for the knockout rounds… I don’t want to agree there’s a conspiracy angle to this.

  28. Baafuor from Ghana

I am saying there is a conspiracy there. But the fixtures are really tough. And with this our squad, It will be difficult for us to cope in the PL

  29. Cesc

    from @thegoonblog Miles to travel: #Arsenal: 3181m, #Chelsea: 3019m, #Man Utd: 2875m, #Spurs: 1292m. Not ideal given AFC’s league games after CL fixtures.

  30. Marko

Oh god not Steven Taylor. Decent draw today and I’d love it if the first game was away to Donestk to get it out the way. And we got Squillaci finally. Yyyeeeeaaaahhhh

UNLIKELY TO BE ANYMORE TRANSFERS,WENGER BLUFFING ??? !!!

IF NOT, THEN HE MUST GO IF WE FUCK UP.

i agree, but don’t you mean When we fuck up????

  32. Marko

Any hear the Yebda rumours? Good player and we were linked to him back when he played for Le Mans. I doubt the Ben Arfa rumours though he’s a bit of a trouble maker and on the left we already have Arshavin, Vela and Rosicky, Wilshere and Nasri can play there too so it’s hugely unlikely. What is likely though I think is that either Schwarzer is on his way or a late loan for Given if nothing comes out of Schwarzer. And maybe a sneaky midfielder coming in too.

  33. Cescs_MyBoy

    Hmmmm

Not so sure about the group. Tough away games, and Braga are playing with momentum.

Plus, how is Dennis going to get to Ukraine?

    Oh wait………………..

  34. Marko

So realistically what are we hoping for in the coming days of the transfer window? Just a goalie or what? What’ll make people happy? Dan?
