I was delighted to have spanked Blackpool 6 nil, the real shame was that some of the football we played should have resulted in more, Vela deserved a goal and Chamakh deserved more, Wilshere was unlucky as was Robin, Cesc was quiet so imagine what we could be like if he was on form, awesome.
Now imagine adding a couple of players to that, we could beat anyone! Well we’ll find out this week as the window shuts next Tuesday. The Spanish press are saying Squillaci is on route to Arsenal to complete his medical, the absence of Schwarzer in yesterdays game suggest he’s on his way too, no way would he miss a big game like the ManU one with a sore back, there were also rumours around yesterday that he had failed a medical, but I don’t believe that.
If Theo continues to run at players and let fly, he will be the player I always said he would be, good luck to him too, he has had some stick (deservedly so) so let’s hope what we’ve seen since pre season, is the Theo we hoped for.
I have always supported Theo, I have always said he would be the saviour of England, if he just stops believing in all the publicity that surrounds him and gets on with it he will blossom. This season could be his time.
I hope we will see an improved Denilson too, I hope he has a Flamini type season and finally comes good, the thing I don’t like though is I don’t know why we don’t let them learn their trade in the reserves, and bring them in when they are ready rather than watching them struggle in the first team, and people like me give them stick, Song, Diaby and Denilson spring to mind.
Hopefully all our kids have now reached that ready made age and we’ll blood the odd kid like Wilshere, Rosicky showed a wily head and made things happen, Arshavin will only get better and I believe if all around him improve, we see him finishing off a few more.
However poor Blackpool may have been, having Chamakh in the side gives us more options, last season we may have won that 2-1, this season we have goals in us and we will only get better, sign the centre back and the keeper we all crave and we can start to believe, next up Blackburn and Kozzer will be back, maybe if we have Squillaci ready, he will give Vermaelen a go at DM, just for them, just to see what a bit of aggression does.
That will shock fat Sam won’t it!
Have a great day grovers, I feel good today and I have a feeling a player or two will be unveiled.

Reading the game is an attribute people start referring to when they cant defend a player with any other positive attribute football-wise.
DDM,
I was there after the game on saturday, but I don’t go to all games. Were you there?
For me it’s about defensive organisation and a goalkeeper who not only has ability and commands his area, but also instills confidence in his defenders.
We’ve lacked all that for about five years!
In England isn’t it “get awf moi concrete” ?
DDM,
I kept my eye out for what I thought may be a group of Grovers, and the only thing I have to go on is that I know Franchise is something of a monuement. There was a colossus of a man, but I thought he looked too dim.
DDM
Tell me what you think is good about The Arsenal
Sorry everyone, new post, it went off by itself!
MDI89 – That is my preferred watering hole, pre and post game.
I was there before the game on Saturday.
I was a tad dissapointed though, the Colombian/Venezuelan barmaids have been replaced by gypo Eastern European barmaids……wtf???
lol@Denilshit. Ya the monster stuff is over the top. We have seen absolutely nothing to justify he will all of a sudden come good. And Mr. DDM I see you point on being fooled by management/Wenger etc when so many fans have the attitude of yeah we will come good when these kids grow up etc. Totally stupid idea imo.
But lets be honest on the other hand as well, the goal posts have indeed moved, they have moved towards a mega-rich benefactor paying 150K plus for shit talent. If that is what we want then we SHOULD be wholeheardtley be supporting Usmanov or Kronke to take over immediately, or perhaps the Glazer types. If we are honest we know we can never compete with transfers and wages with Chelsea and City, or Utd even.
So my point is, indeed I want to win and honest to god call it stupidity but ever year we come out to play I think it will be ours. Not because Wenger is a god or our management is the best but because we are Arsenal. We have always been different than the other clubs, we have always done it our way and I want to believe the players have that same feeling.
Maybe it is all horseshit nostalgia crap but thats where I stand. And currently I totally disagree with this never ending youth thing. There is a happy medium to be achieved, something Fergie did over at Utd before he went nuts paying 30m for Berba etc. The way forward is a combination of homegrown youth who will die for the club and never leave and world class experianced talent that buy into the philasophy.
We need that first fucking win, and I squarely blame Wenger for being a mug about it. He should have won a damn trophy to make the younglings feel secure and the world class talent feel safe. Now we are nothing but paranoid constantly and in the big games it always shows.

Hello guys!
Thanks for the post!
I like the fact, that our recents arrivals talks in positive way about our great Club, and I think it’s very important that they will have a very good ambition, and of course motivation for the season. This is what we need, we have now the quality, ambition and experience. I’m absolutly happy with this transfer window, and I can say, Arsene done a great job, not just now, but in the last two or three trasnfer windows. Another player plus Squllaci would be pefect for us.
I’m very positive for this season, and I’m only thinking on the title, we can do it!
Go Gunners!
Morning grovers!
Just a quick info on the go, Yohan Gourcuff just signed for Lyon.
Have a good day anyway.

It’s funny seeing how fickle some Arsenal fans are.
Squillaci is considered a good defender at the time this article was written (as he is on paper: Champions League finalist, multiple French League and French Cup winner).
Just compare to what gooners are saying about him now.
Goes to show how complex transfers are.
This can also show that someone as revered as Cahill might also flop.
If “top English defenders” defend like Terry and Ferdinand defend like they did against Swiss, can’t see how the “juniors” would help us.
