Milan will show us if we have it, and who is on their way?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Well today we play Milan, Flamini returns and the kids get their head, should be interesting, no Song, no Cesc and no Robin, I hope Frimpong siezes his chance today, we need an alternative, I hope he shows Flamini what we didn’t miss.

I was listening to the muppet show on the way back from golf last night and Adrian Durham was telling the world that because Cesc came from Barca, that we had a moral obligation to enter into negotiations with them, what a complete wanker that bloke is, he also said that if Barca thought he was worth £30mil, then that was what we should sell him for, he accused Arsenal of taking him prisoner.

Well when I listened to Wenger’s press conference, I believed he went back to being Arsenal’s manager again, he said Cesc will finish out his 6 year contract, yes 6!

He also intimated we were going to sign at least one centre back and if the papers are correct, that will be the big German on the 4th of August.

Cesc need 4 weeks off as he played in the world cup, he’s only had three and a half so far so will return on the 5th of August, Arsene, that is so anal, he won the world cup!

Thing is, he won the world cup because Spain had a top, top side, Arsene is challenging Cesc to help us win the EPL, you would think that Cesc might tell him why he wants out wouldn’t you? I wish he’s just say that playing with spinning head and his mates will never win him the league. Maybe then and only then will Wenger listen and do something, let’s see what happens today, maybe we’ll take them apart, Chamakh will get a hatrick, Samir Nasri will dominate midfield with Wilshere and Frimpong will be the wall we need with pace.

Today will be fun, Milan should be a good game and will show us how far we’ve come and how far we have to go, come on Arsenal, surprise me!

And before the Fulham fans start bragging about City flop Hughes, don’t forget, that Barca reject only got the job because fat boy Jol turned it down.

I’ll be there tomorrow, Pedro will be there today, so the match report will be his. Have fun if you’re going.

    A,

You are back. (makes statement of the obvious sound intelligent?).

Were you wearing a T shirt with a dirty great “A” on the front, at the game today?

  2. A

No way we’d get a silvestre sabeel, there isn’t a silvestre out there, and we know we’ve been after jagielka very seriously, so it shows the calibre of player we’re in for. Someone similar quality and age who will compete with vermy and koscielny, along with JD if he gets and stays fit is what i expect to happen, though I don’t know who.

Keepers I agree, I really want us to get in schwarzer just to calm everything down there, but i’m not so sure it’ll happen now

  3. timao

pretty good performance today – hard to judge as both teams were taking it easy but generally we controlled everything and should have won. i think it was randall at the end who blew a great double chance. shame. frimpong seems alright – though he let flamini run away from him a couple of times which doesn’t bode well. is he naturally a defensive minded midfielder?

  4. zeus

    Incesc

LMAO @ failing asleep and missing the 2nd half. Speaking of which, why is it that the camera people feel the need to show Beckham’s kids sleeping and playing during the game?

  5. Sabeel Indian Gunner

On reports that Barcelona won’t give up on Fabregas until the transfer window closes…
“Barcelona has given up for a long time. Who is Barca? You say to me ‘Barca has not given up’, what does that mean? Who is the person who says they do not give up? The newspapers? The newspapers do not make those decisions. I told you yesterday what will happen – Fabregas will stay here.”

    ———–

tell u what…even though i hate some of wengers idea of not buying in problem areas, but i still love this guys…what a response..

  6. A

Haha no I wasn’t red arse, I was wearing my retro 91-93 away shirt actually http://www.vintagefootballshirts.com/product-info.php?1991_93_Arsenal_Away_Shirt-pid994.html

yeah I agree sixx pac, but mertesacker is someone who is too much of an international, and doesn’t fit in our style of play, high line etc. I was happy before to get him because i wanted anyone with a bit of pedegree and experience, but after seeing koscielny i think we should get someone who suits us a bit better, even if less experienced. maybe jumping the gun a bit though….

    A -

    No Syvestre out there?

Picture the scene, its November and Vermalen has had an injury which means our last minute traser window closing swoop has to make his first debut start at the Emirates…

Im still not convinced by Koss….Hes great backup but if Sol taught us anything we need a big man in there

  9. timao

A – with mertesackker we would not have conceded today, i cant iunderstand what djourous was doing there, he seemed to duck under the ball rather than try and get his head on it. ffs!

  10. wenger the liar

The Arsene response in Arsenal.com is the best thing I have heard him say in years.

Fuck me its like he has grown a pair.

  11. Mayank

“Barcelona has given up for a long time”
Tells us what we knew all along. Barca didn’t have the money or an power to push the transfer through and resorted to make Arsenal look like the bad guys holding Cesc hostage.

  12. Sabeel Indian Gunner

    A

yes ofcourse i hope that we dont get a silvestre type of singings..

But somehow, past seasons history of not getting new proper people in problem areas, has just taken the air out of whatever optimistic expectations i want to have, and i probably would warn u,that history of past 5 seasons, atleast in planning for the season ahead will REPEAT..

  13. Red Arse

    A,

I told everyone I had seen you wearing a T shirt with an “A”. How confusing!

I was so convinced because the imposter was leering at a v. attractive young lady and had a pint of beer in his hand. Just like any self respecting uni or ex-uni bod would be.

I also said you were surprisingly good looking. Well O.K that was a mistake…… obviously! :-)

Anyway, there’s some bast*rd out there almost impersonating you. What is the world coming too? :-)

  14. Stu

Great answers by Wenger. I like that part of him, the defiant part and how he wont give in to Barca.

I dont think Mertesacker would have helped today. We might not have conceded that set piece goal but his lack of pace would surely have been targeted and we could have conceded that way. As it was, Koscielny was brilliant at intercepting the ball. Who needs strength when you just nip in before the ball even gets to the CF.

    haha wait for it

someones gonna say bramble will be a good addition.

    its coming!!!

  16. Red Arse

At the risk of being howled at, I think it would be a masterstroke (well according to me) if Wenger signed Mertsackher and played him with Kos.

Then TV could play as a combined Defensive/Offensive midfielder. He is brilliant at defending but also he is dynamite whenever near goal; shooting and heading.

    Problem solved. :-)

  17. sixx pac

I think hes a good CB stu and has technique. Plus it would piss off Fat Sammy.

Im sure I would defend better than Randall Sabeel

  18. leon

its pretty clear new defender looks a quality player can see why wenger was keen on him wenger still needs to add number but i am not concerned about quality, but keeper position is major concern fabianski clearly has very little authority and presence in goal i hope the young polish keeper gets a chance tomorrow

  19. Stu

No chance of Vermaelen moving into midfield Red Arse. He wouldnt have the stamina for it imo and probably isnt good enough in tight spaces to be a midfielder anyway.

  20. stonroy

I will say Chamakh was rarely off side going forward unlike others (Bendtner) Adebahore). His positioning was excellent.

  21. David

Bramble – The Black Beckenbauer. Sure pissed over Flapi…

Wenger said the goal was down to lack of Organization.

Which again is the keepers fault.

  22. wenger the liar

I think the clown will play tomorrow otherwise he is 100% going to buy a goalie, quite frankly at this point I am not sure that a goalie is coming.

  23. sixx pac

wonder if the kozzer does come good how people will spin it so as to not give Wenger any credit for discovering him.

For Vermaelen people pretended like they knew all about him before he was linked with us. Knowing a player and seeing a player are two different things.

  24. zeus

On whether Emmanuel Frimpong is likely to go on loan…
“No. I want to keep him.”
    *************************
Thank the Lord. If Denilson has any sense he will go, cuz this kid is close to usurping him the the team.

……On whether Barcelona have a case to answer on allegations of ‘tapping-up’…
“They [Barcelona] certainly have a case to answer, but it is always the same – how can you prove it?”

    On Carles Puyol’s recent comments…
“Puyol is responsible for his own statements, which is why I have said before that only Fabregas can clear the air when he comes back from holiday. Puyol has to look after his own affairs and leave the rest to Cesc Fabregas.”

On whether he will ‘put Fabregas on show’ when he returns…
“[He returns on] August 5. There is no show. There is football. The only show in football is to play good football in the matches. Cesc does that as well as everybody else. What can I say about that? I cannot master what is written in the newspapers, I can only master our decisions and that is it. Cesc has five years to go and that is it.”

On why he feels Fabregas has to come out and clear the air…
“Because the speculation does not stop. Who can stop the speculation? Only Cesc maybe, I don’t know, maybe not even Cesc. But that is how I feel. We cannot go into a season where everyday you read about that. He has not played today and I sit here and speak about Fabregas
    ***************************Well said.

  25. wenger the liar

    Six pac

Kos was league 2 player of the year 2 years ago, its not like hes some mug – what the fuck does arsene know!

    ;-)

  26. Sabeel Indian Gunner

we all know wenger and arsenal scouts are capable of getting gems like vermy chamakh(from so far reviews)

Only regret from them is they dont do it more of such in the problem areas…

    on this nite..its 1.15am here..Nite all..

  27. zeus

    6 pac

No one can take credit away from Wenger for Kozzer IF he comes good. Wenger made what, 3 sepaprate bids b4 getting him and almost no one knew of him b4 Wenger.

    Its a it like TV5.

  28. wenger the liar

    Stu

Mate its the emirates cup, we could probably play goalie when ;-)

Just kiddin mate I have no idea about the rules but it would suprise me if the clown wasnt in goal tomorrow

  29. Red Arse

Don’t think there are any rules on that, Stu.

Didn’t we put out two different teams last year?

    WTL,

Were you at the Emirates today? (I only watched it on Sky). Were the crowd O.K., because most of the Celtic fans sodded off after their game. Philistines! :-)

  30. wenger the liar

    Red Arse -

I was going to take my missus because shes never been before but she told me it was a waste of money so I didnt get the tickets. Last night she tells me she needs a haircut and £200 to pay for it.

    Cant live with em….

  31. timao

the crowd was pretty lively today – if you count mexican waves that is. can’t blame the celtic guys for heading down the pub, they hate arsenal anyway. can’t undrstand why we let vthem in the tournment in the first place. we had a rendtion of London Calling before kick-off which was alright! but still had to put up with that TWOY bollox… with bloody karaoke style lyrics on the big screen as well, jeez. when will they learn!?

  32. Red Arse

    Timao,

I’m going to the Blackpool game and hope everybody will really lets rip.

    Makes such a difference. :-)

  33. Red Arse

    Have to go!

The bottle of wine has kicked in and I have been typing with one eye shut for the last 30 mins, to stop seeing double.

Doesn’t work, for some reason! :-)

  34. timao

“At the moment, what is important is that when Cesc comes back, that he comes out.” er… does he really mean that dyou think?

  35. leon

i felt fringpong was very solid looked very strong looked could provide good backup to song and diaby and delinson,as far i am concerned no keeper the count winning prem its that simple

  36. timao

saw a great shirt at the ground today – number ’61 and above it ‘NEVER AGAIN’ took me a few seconds to work it out!

  37. Stu

Numbers in italy doesnt relate to squad stature. Players often have the year of their birth as a number. Hence Ronaldinho – 80 and Yepes – 76 at Milan and others at other clubs.

  38. G STAR

Arsene Wenger is preparing a club record bid of £18 million to sign Neven Subotic from Borussia Dortmund, after failing to persuade Everton to sell Jagielka.

  39. kev

was hoping to see nordveit in action today. i wouldnt mind seeing him partner verm for 90 mins just to see how hed get on

  40. leon

g star dont always believe what you read i cant see wenger payout that kind money on one player never almost all links fron cought off side have turned to fulse, think about everton want in access of 15 mill and if wenger is unwilling payout that kind of for jag why would payout 18 mill.i think wenger other targets in mind for alot less money

  41. nigerian gunner

    good evening mates…
good football from arsenal even without having up to 4 or 5 starters…

    positives

denilson should be the cover to ping pong…i hope he goes on better…essien once said he would be better than him someday.we can start building him NOW.

koz and cham are promising FOR NOW,

Wenger hates berca now more than we all do.

  42. Kreshnik

I personally liked the game today. Very nice to watch. Randall should not wear the shirt no more tho. Like … never.
Lots of positives and entertaining. Really seems like a CB and GK can easily make us favorites for the title this year. IFF (big if there) Kos can play like this for the whole season he should be number 1 with the new CB as sub for him.

  43. Yon

MAN CITY VS INTER MILAN in Baltimore….. There are more ARsenal fans in the crowd than almost any other club fans. Funny but sad because those folks are being deprived. When will Arsenal tour the bloody U.S?

  44. A

Yon they’ll tour the US when they care more about making money from marketing than preparing for the start of the season

    hopefully not anytime soon….

  45. LeProf

After the Milan game, looks like Frimpong actually Obafemi Martins’ secret lovechild imho. Sadly Mark Randall = Francis Jeffers lost twin. Anyway Chamakh using any hair gel or something?? Ah..jackie boy..would cost £150m for Bustcelona to buy next ffs!!!

  46. nishanth

I think it is about time that clichy is dropped for gibbs.Gibbs looks more solid than clichy defending and attacking wise there is no competition really

  47. Ray in SF

    Now that everyone’s asleep…

I apologize to Rohan, I thought Kosielny looked very promising today

I was disappointed that it was Randall instead of JET that came on

Flap was not really at fault for the goal, though it was a typical ‘soft’ one

I’d rather explore Frimpong’s potential than bring Flamini back

I think it’s good that Gibbs and Eboue will push (cover for) Clichy and Sagna this season

I’m very pleased with how Nasri and Arshavin are shaping up

Wilshere is a delight to watch

Hope Chamakh continues to prove his qualities and becomes a LEGEND

Vela looked surprisingly sharp and that was a wicked curling (NOT chipped) shot

Robin and Cesc still to strengthen the squad

Good things, especially (Mr Wenger, are you listening) as the transfer market is still open

Is it me or does anyone else think it’s strange that the transfer market is still open for a while after the season starts?!?

  48. Kreshnik

six … if national teams were left to teach players, these guys would be shit. u learn in your club, not in the national team. u show how good u are in the national team.

  49. Rohan

The transfer window’s always been open for a while after the season starts . It’s always been like that.

  50. AA23

Kos was Proper class today, brains over brawn, which might suit us. Chamakh looks alright as well.
That was not a bad side we played and Pato is a better striker than pretty much everyone we’ll face. (cheating and brute force aside)
Didn’t mind what I saw today.
Except for Randall obviously. How does he get a single minute? He must look like Zidane in training

  51. Pat

Jaguar once again demonstrating what a clueless twat he is. Fuck off, break a leg, go support Spuds. You know fuck all about football.

  52. Rohan

Jaguar’s excellent comeday value, I have to admit. ‘
I’m willing to bet that you’ll lose your bet of Chamakh not scoring more than 5 goals. hahahaha.

  53. dennisdamenace

If Jaguar had your childish pathetic reasoning, and bad mouthed other Grovers you would be one of the first calling for him to be banned!

Just because his opinion differs from yours, whether he is right or wrong he is entitled to his opinion, he doesn’t get personal and bad mouth you for your opinion

  54. dennisdamenace

If Jaguar had your childish pathetic reasoning, and bad mouthed other Grovers you would be one of the first calling for him to be banned!

Just because his opinion differs from yours doesn’t give you the right to slag him off. Whether he is right or wrong he is entitled to his opinion, he doesn’t get personal and bad mouth you for your opinion, so j respectfully suggest it is you that should wind your neck in….

  55. Rohan

Yeah, wishing a tumour upon Wenger and calling him a paedophile is something all of us should listen to and tolerate because he is entitled to his opinion.
I agree with you essentially, but this being an Arsenal blog, there have to be limits.

  56. dennisdamenace

Personally, I thought it was a well taken goal, and one Bentner wouldn’t have got on the end of….

  57. Goonerman

dm – calling Arsenal players and AW wicked names is not something I want to put up with on an Arsenal BB. He can have whatever views he wants. If I want read Arsenal abuse I will go to a Spurs bb.

Its a wonder you can’t see the ‘wood for the trees’ re Jaguar.

  58. dennisdamenace

If someone makes those types of comments then yes, they are fair game to be shit down. However, reasoned argument against someone’s opinion/obsevation of a player is not telling someone to ‘go break a leg, fuck off or support Spurs’ …………

  59. dennisdamenace

Just because someone pulls on the Red and White doesn’t suddenly mean they are the best thing since sliced bread, and certainly doesn’t exclude them criticism…..

  60. dennisdamenace

In fact, at the game or on this blog, if a player ain’t doing it he’ll fucking get it big time from me, I don’t care who it is Fab4 or Denilson, I expect the best from my players….

  61. rico

hi dennis, i read it this morning, some 23 year old called Levroji – i don’t believe it, surely he would get an older player not another young un…

buffing as i type dennis ;)

  62. dennisdamenace

Talking of goalkeepers, did anyone catch Talkshite on Friday morning? Rib Shepherd was on there stating he believes we will be buying two goalkeepers!

  63. Goonerman

dm – Jag’s criticism includes CONTINUOUS abuse of Arsenal players. I change my mind he must be about aged 9 not 12.
