Cesc turns down barca at last, Campbell is good but not enough.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So Cesc has finally said no to the bullies from Barca, by all accounts he has decided that to ask for a transfer request will set him at odds with the Arsenal fans and he loves us too much to do that, finally he speaks! Well done Cesc, I welcome you back, we can forget what has happened.

The good news is that barca will now turn to Ozil, why is that good news? Well in theory, it means they’ll leave Cesc alone now, the strange thing is, like Cesc, they don’t need him.

And that’s why we should sign him, imagine a midfield with him, Cesc, Ramsey, Wilshere and Nasri to choose from, wow!

Campbell signing is good news if he does, but at his age, we still need another, from what I have seen, Koscielny isn’t the answer, good squad player, but we need a nasty big bugger there to bully and cut out crosses, keep looking Arsene.

I have yet to see what Wenger is doing to placate cesc, I had hoped it would be some world class players and not the customary £10mil a year bribe, I’m still hopeful it will be a big DM and a keeper, if it’s not, then I hope like hell Frimpong can step up, he did look good and composed and maybe he is the answer, Eastmond didn’t look as good, but it’s only when we play the bigger teams we’ll find out if we have a potential Essien there, they both came from Ghana so who knows eh!

Vermaelen says we can win the league and we will be having a go, well what do you expect someone who wants to be the next captain to say? I admire him and believe he will become a modern day Keown, but I still think we are short and will struggle until we put that right.

And that my friends is all I think Cesc is saying, 3 more players boss and we’ll rule the world.

I can’t wait to see Chamakh, RVP and Arshavin all charging at fat boy Reina on the first day of the season, that really is a mouth watering prospect, let’s just hope that Robin can stay injury free between the Emirates cup and that game, hey who knows, maybe even longer!

Have a great day Grovers, today is the last Saturday before the real football begins, today is your last Saturday off, next weekend it’s Milan and Celtic, I’ll be there, but sadly, my Vuvuzela won’t be!

I don’t understand this post. Cesc didn’t actually ‘say’ anything.

From the get go, Cesc had made it clear that he was not going to turn in a transfer request because he respected the Arsenal too much. As a matter of fact Pique, Puyol, and resident loudmouth Xavi have all said that Fabregas won’t do anything to dis the arsenal fans and so won’t hand in a transfer request (which the cunts were banking on, you know, him being cunts just like them).

My full time report from Welling is long overdue, but we were shit in the second half.

I now know why Jay Simpson and Nacer Barazite are not challenging the first team. Jay doesn’t seem to do anything well and Barazite has the worst attitude I have seen since Stoichkov, but he could play. Though Randall was decidedly average, the game changed when he and Aneke came off.

The only player to come off with any credit was Jernaide Meade. Though Afobe worked hard, especially when he had to play on the right to accomodate Simpson.

No one from that side is anywhere near the first team

  3. Stu

Dont know if its live but City are losing to Sporting Lisbon 1-0 after 38minutes here. Bridge isnt playing left back though which i find off because he has no WC to be at so he should be available really.

    Traiining for today =

The morningsession was most running and AW drill some defensive stuff, and some freekicks. Nasri and Song shots best, and none leftfooted player score from freekics.. (VanP was not there) In the evning AW played a game with 20 players. In the Green team :
    Alm1 – Sagna, Clichy, Djou20, Håvard – Song, Nasri, AA23 – Vela, Cha29
They played against the Yellow for 6 short halfs, total of 30 min. In the Yellow team :
Vito – Eboue, Gibbs, Kos6, Verm5 – Frimpong, Rosicky, Walcott – JET, Wilshere.
(Maybe this two sides will play each half on tuesday)
The Yellow team won 2-0 after goals from JET and a lovley chip from Wilshere. Both goals came in the first 10 min. What I saw : The Green team struggle to create chances. Only Nasri impresses me in front of goal (in the Green team) AA23 tried to pass Eboue 5-6 times without luck, and he looked no good at the moment. Nobody runs more than Eboue today. JET and Jack impresses me inside the box. Vito and Alm1 made some good saves, and I think AW will play them on tuesday. I think all of the 4 CD played well. Kos6 was very good and gave Cha29 no chances. Verm5 and Kos6 could be our CD-pair this year. Just before the end Djou20 fouled Wilshere, and he stays down…. But he walked out and looks OK.
Today Eastmond runs on his own, and Diaby (calf), Traore (hamstring), Henderson and Landsbury did not show up at all. Fabi and Szczesny was there, but did not play the game.
Thats all from Bad Walterdorf !!

  5. sixx pac

well fuck me. Lloris not worth 20 mil Suga3? When did you become Arsene Wenger worrying about player cost. Derossi doesnt travel well? The boy will be class wherever he goes. Plus he does like the Arsenal. He just loves Roma more. Sound familiar

  6. SUGA3

    sixx,

I am not talking AW-stylee valuations here, he is just not worth this much, period…

if you follow European football closely enough, you will know that the Italian players flop more often than not in other leagues…

de Rossi is not Fabregas who has been uprooted from Barca at 16, he IS Roma…

Great blog again and good news if it turns out to be true.

I wrote a couple of weeks ago about how Ivan Gazidis had said before last season that he/the board expected trophies and that 3rd or 4th was no longer good enough, I did dig out some links but have been ill since and so haven’t been able to post as much as I would like to.

Anyway, here are a few links to what Ivan said before last season and one that talks about all the money we have to invest in new players this season (although it looks like a rehash of last seasons comments with applied to this coming season).

Anyway, have a look at what he said:

    http://www.thefootballnetwork.net/boards/read/s378.htm?721,11583549

    http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2009/10/11/1554350/ivan-gazidis-arsene-wenger-must-deliver-a-trophy-for-arsenal

http://footballblips.dailyradar.com/article/ivan-gazidis-arsene-wenger-must-deliver-a-trophy-for/ This one has lots of links to various articles on this subject

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/arsenal/article6980030.ece Ivan talks about his belief in AW and the success he believed we would have last season!!!!

I don’t know what to make of all that! There was pressure to win something last season yet every man and his dog knows what happened at the end of the season; the worst capitulation of any club in the history of football – even worse than Keagan’s Newcastle!

Having said that, I think AW is modelling the ‘modern’ Arsenal on Newcastle under Keagan….

Don’t get me wrong, I am not completely against AW in the way that say Jaguar is but then I am not an AKB or even an AKB evangelist like some commenters are but I really do question AW’s ability in the last 5 years. Persisting with an experiment that clearly isn’t working is either very stubborn, deluded or just plain stupid. I think we can rule out plain stupid but perhaps he is deluded and definitely stubborn. We can all see the areas we need to strengthen and we all know the players who aren’t and won’t progress yet he insists on believing in what he is at.

I think that the board or particularly Ivan G have left themselves with nowhere to go and absolutely no credibility – mind you, 3rd is a trophy so perhaps that was enough for them!?

Anyway, great read and love the comments – very entertaining when the AKB’s get going against everyone else!

  8. Stu

Not that i watch either De Rossi or Lloris regularly but its pretty much fact that Italians generally dont travel well. And anyway, Roma would never want to sell De Rossi, De Rossi wouldnt want to leave and the Roma fans probably wouldnt let him leave. They’s Crazy!

  9. Stu

Lloris was pretty poor in the WC but that means shitall because noone played well for France. Other than tha i’ve only seen him play against Ireland, where he claimed absolutely everything in the air, and in the latter stages of the CL where he flapped at a few crosses. Either way i havent a clue how good or consistent he is.

  10. kev

rossi has already said he doesnt want to leave roma so whats the point. like people have said here he is the life and soul of roma and they wont want to let him go either. my point is there has to be other players out there that are just as good that want to come to us of their own free will. the problem is will we actually pay decent money to aquire them? no is the answer to that methinks

  11. sixx pac

worst capitulation of any club in the history of football – even worse than Keagan’s Newcastle.

What a way to exaggerate. Its not like we were leading the Epl by 11 points and chelsea nicked it from us by one point. Wait that actually happened once. You remember right. 1997-1998. Research it

  12. kev

stu i think its got to be either buffon or neuer for us if we want a top keeper. i used to listen to the hype and think lloris was the answer to our problems but then i watched him playing in a few games and wasnt impressed. i hope if he is the man wenger is after that he doesnt turn out to be a big money flop. i cant see arsene giving 20 mill for a keeper anyway to be honest – cant see him giving 20 mill for any player!!

  13. kev

what does he have to do to prove himself? if neuer isnt a top keeper what does that make schwarzer? theres no comparison. neuer is an international class goalkeeper whos been playing first team since he was 20 and has played in the champions league. after seeing lloris and neuer playing – id have neuer

  14. SUGA3

personally, I’d have Schwarzer with Almunia as no.2 – both Poles to go out on loan (Szczesny needs games, Fabianski needs a shop window) and Vito to be no.3…

if it doesn’t work out within 2 seasons (i.e if Szczesny doesn’t step up, which is unlikely), we should go out and buy some proper quality GK…

    there, sorted!

  15. A

    Agree totally SUGA

kev Neuer has potential, and has had a good 2-3 years, certainly way more proven than someone like Hart who people seem to clamour for, but has never been tested in a top league, and has looked pretty flappy at times when i’ve seen him, as he was in the world cup a few times.

schwartzer has been playing in the prem for about 15 years, knows everything there is to know about the physicality and general nature of the league, as well as being a very good organiser, and very experienced. he’d bring a calmness and security to the defence

  16. A

Although if Szczesny really doesn’t want to go on loan, then he can stay as number two, and Almunia can be sold

  17. kev

i agree with you that schwarzer would give us a bit of stability and god knows we need a cool head but i cant really see the point in paying 3 or 4 mill for a player that might have just a couple of seasons left! my personal preference was shay – when city bought him for small money i was mega pissed off but what can you do

  18. choy

I think the younger ones should go out on loan, keep almunia as no.2

I would buy Schwarzer, as A said, he knows the league, the teams and he’s pretty good and he doesn’t need time to adapt!

  19. SUGA3

I know Szczesny doesn’t want to go out on loan, but he said this in the context of being given a shot in no.1 right now…

I absolutely love his arrogance, but I still think he could do well with another loan spell – as someone said earlier, maybe Fulham?

  20. A

he’s the complete opposite to schwarzer though kev.

schwarzer = stability, composure, commanding his area, organisation, experience, but not spectacular saves or world class reflexes.

given = spectacular shot stopping, world class saves, experience, but a real weakness in terms of organisation and commanding his area, no stability certainly.

i don’t care about spending 3-4 mil for 2 years, even if it was for this year and only this year i’m fine with it! what matters imo is this season, RIGHT NOW, and doing whatever will make an immediate difference

  21. Dan,The Gooner.

wenger will go out and spend that sort of money for koch, who will add nothing by the way,but not go and pay the ££££ for someone who will add something.,madness.

  22. Yon

WENGER doesn’t spend €10 million on a clown defender. If he spent that kind of money on a defender of all things… he must be good.

  23. A

    lol, genius Dan.

i would hope that this week is when schwarzer and the other centre back will sign, hopefully along with sol as well, and then the dm can be the player with whom the rumour/chat going on and on, and isn’t concluded until August 31st

  24. choy

I am 100% sure that Kos is better than Silvest and I’m happy with that.

Make no mistake.. Kos is def not a starter!

  25. TOM TOM

Stu i dont rate Walcott its just i think that he is shit on the wing so maybe give him a chance upfront as most people thought Henry only had pace before we tried him upfront,I’m not saying Walcott will be as good as Henry and i seriously doubt it but we either sell him or see how he works out as a striker.

  26. OxfordGooner

Hey Sixx pac, I know it wasn’t the worst capitulation in the history of football, it was firmly tongue in cheek – maybe I should have said FACT ;o)

97/98 I remember well, I went to most of the games that season and was at highbury On the 3rd May for the game against Everton – what a game, what a day & what a way to win the title!!

Thanks for reminding me of those days ;o) but it all seems such a long time ago now… We definitely need signings. I hope you are right, the clown to Osasuna sounds almost too good to be true, I only hope we sign a top class keeper as a replacement. Definitely don’t want schwarzer, we need to show intent.

  27. TOM TOM

Apparently we will sign Mertesacker next week. From what I’ve seen of him he looks decent and is strong in the air. Anyone got any more info on him?

  28. sixx pac

We are not in a position to experiment TomTom. He aint better than Vela,Chamakh and def not Van Persie so he cant play there

  29. Stu

TomTom, it makes no sense for us to even try Theo in the middle. He is shit on the wing, whats the point in moving him inside to a position where he will have less space and less time to think?

Also, Henry was ALWAYS a striker. Its only Juve who fucked up and made him play on the wing for the exact same thinking as “he’s fast, he must be a winger”.

  30. SUGA3

    Stu,

funny thing is that TW with his pea-sized football brain of his would probably thrive in the position where he has no time to think

  31. TOM TOM

Ok so we get rid of Walcott so. I miss the days when we had great wingers like Overmars Ljungberg and Pires that could play well and score important goals when it was needed most.

  32. TOM TOM

My biggest problem with Walcott is that he gets into good positions but just wont have a look up and pick out a pass,I think he has had long enough now and its a pity but he just cant seem to take his game on a level

  33. gambon

I dont think its possible for Koscielny NOT to be better than Silvestre.

Id be pretty happy with Jagielka alngside Vermaelen. We would lack a bit of height, but hes very consistent & a proper leader.

  34. SUGA3

    Stu,

well, he definitely has more instinct than footy brain, that’s for sure ;)

if that does not bring out the nest in him, nothing will…

problem is, hardly any team plays high line against us…

  35. Stu

Jagielka comes with the added bonus of just having missed most of the season through injury. I dont want him for basically that reason, as well as not being that tall and costing way too much. I have no problem with spending bug but at least make it be on a world class player.

  36. paul mc daid

stu,100% better, doubt that, hope your right,im not sure kos is even better than big phil, besides we need a hell off a lot more,we need a superstar centre half.

  37. Stu

Thats because he has no football brain. Fuck him out on loan for a season to a thick manager who WILL play him CF. But then again, no teams plays the same formation as us so its a hopeless situation.

Paul, i too doubt he is better than Phil but he is definately better than Silvestre.

  38. SUGA3

    gambon,

I think the difference between PM and PJ in this department are marginal…

chasing is not PM’s game, it’s more about blocking the way, no? not to mention his presence when defending set pieces…

  39. sixx pac

um Phil? Do we have another CD named Phil? Certainly cant be Senderos. Senderos is on par with Silvestre

  40. sixx pac

Can you believe Arjen Robben saying Liverpool’s attack is on par with Barca’s because they got Cole. Ours must be out of this world then

  41. David

Stability and Composure means fack all when you cant save a direct shot.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_j5dBOwR96g

  42. SUGA3

    sixx,

now you are talking bollocks – Big Phil was pretty good defender until AW fucked him up mentally by replacing him with Toure who was sick (malaria) and just came back from ACN where he was absolutely shit…

he was part of the record breaking CL defence, remember? do you seriously think we would do worse with him playing CB instead Silvestre? fucking please…

  43. SUGA3

    David,

if you look back at our games against Boro and Fulham with him in goal, you will probably recall pretty good shot stopping ability…

anyway, I want Szczesny to be our no.1 in a season or two, hence MS is ideal for the stopgap purpose…

  44. sixx pac

I agree Suga3. But his being mentally fucked up puts him on par with Silvestre. Hopefully he can turn it around at Fulham

  45. LeProf

Come on guys, Hugo Lloris again? That Richard Keys look-alike? Lloris is as shite as Richard Keys crap talk anything against us. Next dont buy anyone that looks like Andy Gray.

  46. ethangunner

the good news is the Canadian pilot ejected in time , the bad news is the plane landed on AA23 !

actually that would be classed as a WIN – WIN !

    scenario :)

  47. kev

panathinaikos are after gallas but looks like they wont be able to meet his wage demands! ha! greedy bastard – wouldnt ya laugh if he couldnt find a club to take him on. that would teach him to take his head out of his arse and accept what hes worth

  48. sixx pac

Found it. The first ever Le-Grove post. Very positive. Geoff was glad that Wenger signed a new contract and that Almunia had displaced Jens. Great read.

Iniesta – Fabregas will stay at Arsenal one more year to win the title
Posted on July 25, 2010 by admin

At last it seems that the Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has told his mates from Spain and Barcelona to stop the high-pressure tapping up, and to start helping him rebuild his relationship with the Arsenal fans before the new season starts.

The Barca star Andres Iniesta, who score the winner for Spain in the World Cup Final, reckons that Fabregas will be Arsenal’s Lionel Messi, and could win the title for Arsenal on his own!

But of course he couldn’t stop himself saying that Cesc will still join Barcelona next summer! “Cesc wants to be with us, but he told me how close the Arsenal fans are to his heart,” he said.

“He is a special player and I hope he wins the title at Arsenal this season.

“For them to win, Cesc will have to stay fit and injury-free, but he deserves to finish with a title.

“For all the work and effort he has put in at Arsenal it would be a shame if it was all fruitless.

“I have seen time after time Lionel Messi win games for Barcelona when the rest of the team have not been on form and Cesc can do that for Arsenal this season.”

“Arsenal are not as strong as Chelsea. But they try and play football the way it was intended to be played and that should be rewarded.”

“Cesc is such a special player that he could carry a team to the title on his own and I hope he does it this coming season.

“It would be brilliant if Arsenal’s hero could lift the title as captain during his last season.

“I think that it would be fantastic for everybody.”

Would all Arsenal fans be happy to cheer Fabregas if they knew he would be leaving for sure next summer?
