Cesc turns down barca at last, Campbell is good but not enough.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So Cesc has finally said no to the bullies from Barca, by all accounts he has decided that to ask for a transfer request will set him at odds with the Arsenal fans and he loves us too much to do that, finally he speaks! Well done Cesc, I welcome you back, we can forget what has happened.

The good news is that barca will now turn to Ozil, why is that good news? Well in theory, it means they’ll leave Cesc alone now, the strange thing is, like Cesc, they don’t need him.

And that’s why we should sign him, imagine a midfield with him, Cesc, Ramsey, Wilshere and Nasri to choose from, wow!

Campbell signing is good news if he does, but at his age, we still need another, from what I have seen, Koscielny isn’t the answer, good squad player, but we need a nasty big bugger there to bully and cut out crosses, keep looking Arsene.

I have yet to see what Wenger is doing to placate cesc, I had hoped it would be some world class players and not the customary £10mil a year bribe, I’m still hopeful it will be a big DM and a keeper, if it’s not, then I hope like hell Frimpong can step up, he did look good and composed and maybe he is the answer, Eastmond didn’t look as good, but it’s only when we play the bigger teams we’ll find out if we have a potential Essien there, they both came from Ghana so who knows eh!

Vermaelen says we can win the league and we will be having a go, well what do you expect someone who wants to be the next captain to say? I admire him and believe he will become a modern day Keown, but I still think we are short and will struggle until we put that right.

And that my friends is all I think Cesc is saying, 3 more players boss and we’ll rule the world.

I can’t wait to see Chamakh, RVP and Arshavin all charging at fat boy Reina on the first day of the season, that really is a mouth watering prospect, let’s just hope that Robin can stay injury free between the Emirates cup and that game, hey who knows, maybe even longer!

Have a great day Grovers, today is the last Saturday before the real football begins, today is your last Saturday off, next weekend it’s Milan and Celtic, I’ll be there, but sadly, my Vuvuzela won’t be!

So he should put the deal that’s been done on hold and wait for the other signing?
Anyway we won’t be signing a beast, Verm is the aggressive one and the other one should be more calculated. Tall but mobile.

  2. SUGA3

    incesc,

IMO, our relationship with Gallas has run its course – he clearly doesn’t want to be here enough to accept what is on the table and does not want to go to a lesser club – it suggests some character flaws, which we can do without…

time to just go out and buy a player that is in the same bracket quality wise and that is it…

  3. incesc

guess its a pride thing then choy…

if he plays well he knows another 1 year contract will be on the cards or he can fuck off to the US wheneveer he feels like it. And its not as if he isnt incredibly rich anyway…

  4. choy

It is very fair, but I think he should go anyway.

Sounds like he’s very moody and always creating trouble!

  5. woody

Still to light upfront,Wobbly Wenger say’s we don’t need forwards, well Edwaurdo has gone, and i can see lots of loans going out to clubs, because freindlies don’t really give you a good view, but from what i have seen, none of our newer youngsters are ready yet,a full season in the P’SHIP no.
Wiltshire will move up,if Cesc goes?
Then on to our famous injury prone players,VP-Arshavin-Bendy.?
Chamy ok nothing to write home about at the moment ,but he will need a season, and stepping up to the premiership will probably find him out with injuries.
So were does that leave us.Ok not all these players will be injured at any one time, but you can bet a least 2 of them will ———-so we search whats left, and we find our saviour Pretty boy-Walnut-so don’t hold your Breaths.
WE NEED AT LEAST 1 QUALITY FORWARD NOW-WE WAS IN THIS POSITION THE END OF LAST YEAR WHEN A QUALITY FORWARD WAS VITAL TO OUR PREMIERSHIP PUSH ALL DIFFERENT PEOPLE WERE MENTIONED,i in fact suggested to take a chance with Pavy from Spurs ,and in hindsight the goals he scored at the end of the season would have done us.

So yet again i find Wenger wrong in his comments,no forwards are required,i hope he proves me wrong.

  6. A

incesc gallas couldn’t still play for arsenal – he didn’t bother responding to the contract offer by the set deadline last month, or maybe even in may, and was released by the club mid-june. there’s no contract offer on the table now.

i’d imagine he thought he was the bollocks, and expected a big club to offer him loads of money, and is now having to come to realise that he isn’t what he thought he was and cutting his losses

  7. Geoff

Mayank, Fergy paid £28mil over 10 years ago for Ferdinand, what do you mean, £10mil is a lot to pay for a centre back???

As for Chamakh, he was free, aside from his wages and that’s like for like with losing Gallas or Ade the season before.

  8. Geoff

Choy, got that right, that made Gallas worth £20mil, and he was never worth that, and that made Gallas twice as expensive as Koscielny and what does that do to Mayank’s theory.

  9. incesc

there is just absolutely no reason for wenger not to spend this summer.

weve gone from the best team in the league to the 3rd/4th best. He knows this, he has money, why is he not spending it? makes no sense whatsoever.

  10. paul mc daid

as off now,our weak defense is even weaker than last season, thanks Arsene, who the fuck is in charge off this dog and pony show,we need a goalkeeper,a real center half and a leader,YESTERDAY.

  11. Geoff

I bet my fucking house Denilson goes nowhere, he knows how easy he has it under Wenger, plays like shit and gets praised for it.

  12. incesc

    Geoff

did you read what Mark Gooner said yesterday after he said Denilson is off?

Apparently one of the squad posted on here on monday from Austria…

dont know whether to take it with a pinch of salt or not.

    ;)

  13. leon

i have to say i realy dont understand people big reservation about the new defender is he was only 19-20 yes but he 24-25 which the same age as verm and this player wsa extremly highly rated. so he not some rookie.wenger is very stingy when comes spending and most of time any he has bought for than 5m have turned to be real jems, wenger usualy has player scouted several times so for fork out 10m on this player tells me he is real quality.wenger may not spend enough but most not all have top quality.

when it comes to delinson i have said this several times this season is last prove himself if evon does not get another dm player he has stiff competition that position coquilin eastmond nordviet.the only thing keeping there is mainly because of drout of top dm players for good price if was not for that i think he lost his long ago but wenger will stick delinson and diaby.eastmond i think will go out on loan but nordviet will stay in the first team

  14. North Bank Lew

MalteseGooner Number one – I’m over in late August – where is best to watch Premiership matches in Sliema ?

    Cheers !

  15. kev

leon koz could turn out to be pure quality but the fact remains hes not what we need at this moment in time. hes yet another ball playing centre half – we need a fucking beast a monster in there beside verm. a man that would scare the shit out of you if he looked at you. koz has the build of a 12 year old – hell get done good and proper by the likes of drogba and davies

  16. Geoff

So was Mendez and Stepanovs leon, there have been far better defenders in England on the radar than him. We could have had Lescott for £5mil when Wolves offered us him, we had Palacios on trial and gave him to Bruce, he eventually went to Spurs for £17mil, we sold Diarra for £5mil and a year later he went for £20mil.

We bought Theo as a 15 year old for £12mil (we ended up paying £8 because they went into the shitter) we spent £3.8mil on a 17 year old Denilson and we’ve watched him for 4 years getting worse, Wenger hates to admit he is wrong, look how long we had Senderos before he slipped away on a free.

Because Wenger buys an unknown, don’t assume he’ll be a star, Barca went ballistic when we got Cesc, because they knew he’d be a star and we nicked him before he could turn pro. He would have made it with Steve Bruce as his manager.

  17. incesc

hes 24-25 but he only has one years experience in the top ligue in france which isnt as good as the prem. He also looks pretty weak, remember the blackburn game?

  18. incesc

ANd obviously i hope he turns out to be great but to ask him to be great straight away is too much.

I’d quite like to win the league next year, not develope young players and scrape fourth.

  19. Geoff

Dan I wasn’t, but we are going to do something different, a bit of a laugh, and once a month.

Also as far as Koscielny is concerned Wenger is already saying he needs time, that’s bollocks, we need players that are ready now, and £10mil is a lot for a player that’s not ready.

Wenger likes his Frenchman though, that’s obvious.

  20. leon

kev this 24-25 old man not little rookie at 19 do you realise vidic at manu game there at exacly thae same age, there jonny evans who believe is only 22.

goeff am not saying wenger made mistakes letting ry fdiarra go was huge mistake i think he is better than song.i have no dought there are quite few very good defenders in england but which club do know will let top defender go for than 15 mill plus i think you can alot top defenders in europe for a lesser price.but most of wengers big buys have been real jems .

the bottom line is know has realy got see him play that route problem but just because is unknown does not mean he not top quality at his age he is no roookie not at 24. i look at it like this most players careers last 10-12 years starting at around 19-20 ending 31-33 so when a player comes at 24-25 that realy prime age

  21. eve

very, very, very overjoyed that our captain is staying, hope denilson goes nowhere, hes not shit hes brill, hope gallas goes, never liked his attitude n he aint that great a player.

  22. Dan,The Gooner.

what is it you like about denilson his vision of a side ways pass, that’s always exciting,i must say.

  23. kev

i didnt say anything about his age – his age has nothing to do with it. hes 24 or so and looks like hes anorexic. we dont need another cb thats good on the ball. we need a cb that will DOMINATE in the air and put his head in where most other players wouldnt put their foot. i want a cb that will go through the likes of drogba like he wasnt there and out muscle him – not an easy task i know. kos though wont do any of that

  24. leon

wenger has made it claer that he will be doing more business in defence position and this new player is an a massive improvent that silvest and verm new defender dj and hope fully sole does not sound to made at all but to hope wenger buys 2 defenders and keeper

  25. kev

i want a gk another cb (along with campbell) and a dm. if we can get 3 world class players well be doing ok. ive said before though i think well only get a keeper. if that happens were looking at a 5th place finish

  26. Mayank

Geoff, Real paid £80M for Ronaldo, does that make it a reasonable price. There will always be crazy money paid for players but £10m can get you Verm, Vidic, Alex or Ivanovic. Not too shabby.

  27. LeProf

Looks like Wenger really enjoy watching Drogba laughing at Denilson even before he scored, again. Laughing all the way scoring past Almunia. Just how Kos can stop the ever laughing Drogba, eh! And Wenger would say he never saw that! Go figure!

  28. Mayank

If it was so obvious Cesc would be a star regardless of manager then why didn’t other clubs try to snag him.

  29. Stu

We actually do need CBs that are good on the ball because its how we play football. We might need an aerially dominant CB with great leadership skills and experience but thats not to say they shouldnt be good on the ball too.

BTW, how many CBs have you seen manhandle drogba? Because personally i’ve seen none. All we need to do is fix the defence, not just buy someone to just take care of drogba.

  30. Stu

Woody, what the balls are you even talking about. We brought in Chamakh already and considering the Eduardo has a shocking season i think its safe to say our attack has been improved. Not to mention that we got 83 goals last season so attack is the least of our worries.

  31. kev

fixing the defence means buying a player or players that can actually defend and take care of players like drogba – is that not our problem? that everytime we play teams with ultra physical forwards we struggle to match them? i didnt say that we should get players who cant use the ball but our most pressing concern should be getting someone who can fix our lack of strength and our problems in the air.

  32. paul mc daid

senderos has a cv off a world beater compared to kos, wenger is a gutless cunt who is being aided and abetted by our pathetic, clueless, money grabbing board,if we start the season with this squad i say we should demand wenger and the boards resignation and im deadly serious, cese is a winner,he wants to play with winners,do your job wenger,id give my right ball for DavidDein to be running our club.

  33. Walking Wounded

    Half time at Welling

    Welling 1 Arsenal 1

impressive performances from Nico Yennaris and Jernade Meade( he must only be 5’1″)

Sanchez Watt needs to stop being such a Johnnie BigPotatoes.

Arsenal goal scored by Gavin Hoyte shot from 18 yards top left corner.

Honours even though Welling have hit the bar twice.

  34. kev

to be honest the way we play isnt really gonna allow us to keep clean sheets anyway. at times last season i remember looking at gallas and verm galloping up the pitch and staying up among the forwards and thinking WTF? a defenders primary job is to fucking defend. you cant expect to be much good at the back when your defence tends to go on tours of the pitch.

  35. Goonerpower

Jimbo kosc was first rate in France. He had the best stats out of every defender so please do some research on the lad.

He WILL be a good buy!! Mark my words. People are reading too much into how big he is or rather not so big. I honestly believe class comes above size. He is still 6.1” so he ain’t small to be fair

  36. bc

Samir Bhimoutine looked good today v 20 Enschede he scored 2 and we won 3-1 Final is tomorrow v Southend or West Ham

  37. TOM TOM

I cant believe some people still think Denilson is a good player, obviously arm chair fans that never played football and dont understand the game. I think it might be time we try Walcott as striker because he never looks up and picks out a pass when in dangerous positions on the wing and its very frustrating.

  38. TOM TOM

Or maybe let Walcott leave since we cant afford to take the gamble that he might fail as a striker as he has failed on the wing

  39. Goonerpower

Tom Tom go find your way home. He is a good player. Cesc and started a mint parntership in the center mid, he got injured then started to struggle. He has had a rest (slight groin injury) so will be ready. Fickle is a good word.

  40. LeProf

Drogba exposed our core defense past 4 years no wonder Fat Sam, Stoke, Bolton bullies simply ape any Drogba moves instead to score against us for fun. Diaby? Bang! Denilson? Ha,ha! Almunia? Stool! Even Ricardo Fuller also laughing just like Drogba looking at the stooges trio. Hopeless and sickening. Oh yeah Wenger try to be the first for that GPS shit? BUY NEW CB NOW, FUCK THAT GPS! WANNA PREVENT INJURIES? EAT MORE BEEF, PUSSY!

  41. Dan,The Gooner.

that kolarov geezer has got some left foot on him, watched a couple vids of him, some of the goals he scored are bangers.

  42. Stu

TomTom, i think its you who doesnt understand the game and have never played it if you think Denilson aint a good footballer. He is certainly good on the ball, its ONLY his physical attributes that let him down and it will be proved once he goes to a less physical league and shines.

Also, dont know how you can question peoples understanding of football and then suggest Theo should be played through the middle.

  43. woody

O DEAR ITS SEEMS WE HAVE IN[ STU ]AN EX PRO,who has probably only played park football, but thinks he knows more about the game than everyone else

  44. Stu

Do i Woody? What gives you that impression? Because i dont agree with you that we are short in attack and need more strikers?

  45. melvyn

North Bank Lew – watch the game at the Maltese Arsenal Supporters club – great atmosphere.

Stu – Denilson may have some skills but they are not suited for EPL – his best game was against Barca and thats because he’s far more suited to Spanish style. So he should go to Spain and take Almunia with him.

  46. gambon

    Have we signed anyone yet?

I see City have signed Kolorov, getting a bit worried about them, Balotelli & Milner still to join.

  47. woody

No stu perhaps your comments to Tom Tom ?about not playing or understanding the game?
The fact you don’t agree with me,well so what?

  48. Stu

Well Woody, i will refer you to TomToms very own comment which involed my responce to question his understanding. Hope that clears things up.

Yes Melvyn, i completely agree with that analysis of Denilson, well said.

  49. Stu

Dont City play 4-3-3?? I cant see Toure being first choice either. He was past his best with us, so i think given the opportunity they would get someone better than him. Lescott too, cant believe they wasted 24m on him.

  50. reggie 57

All these players shitty are signing!! can anyone explain to me how they are gonna get around this home grown rule?

  51. Man

Toure’s the club captain…Lescott might lose out Kompany
City play 442 under Mancini, 433/451 against the bigger teams

  52. RT.Z

    S.W.Phillips ( 6 – 8 million ) to possibly Liverpool, Totenham, or Aston Villa.
Nedum Onuoha ( 3 – 5 million ) to possibly Stoke, West Ham.
    Michael Johnson ( 4 – 6 million ) to possibly I don’t really no.
Stephen Ireland ( 8 – 10 million ) to possibly Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Totenham
Roque Santa Cruz ( 6 – 8 million ) to possibly Wolfsburg, Bayer Leverkusen
Jô ( 3 – 5 million ) to possibly Galatasary, somewhere abroad proberly.
Kelvin Etuhu ( 2 – 4 million ) to possibly stoke, West Ham, Fulham
Vincent Kompany ( 3 – 5 million ) to possibly West Ham, Newcastle
    Craig Bellamy ( 7 – 10 million ) to possibly Totenham, Celtic
Micah Richards ( 7 – 9 million ) to possibly Totenham, Liverpool, Arsenal

  53. RT.Z

Denilson of arsenal will be joining one of the rome clubs, we shall know by next week which one it will be.
If Denilson moves to Roma it could be as part of a deal that sees De Rossi move to the Emirates?

I can tell you that CSKA and Arsenal on trying to work out at swap deal for Rosicky and Honda, this will happen this week and Honda will be announced at the Emirates Cup Saturday

  54. Biggy

So where exactly and what did Cesc say to lead you to this sudden and rampant realisation that he does not want the move to Barca after all?

  55. RT.Z

CESC FABREGAS will not be bullied by Barcelona into handing in a written transfer request to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

Barcelona are becoming increasingly desperate in their attempt to land Fabregas after Arsenal rejected a £30million offer and refused to negotiate.

Fabregas told Wenger of his desire to quit the Emirates for a return to the Nou Camp in a face-to-face meeting ahead of the World Cup.

Barca believe a written transfer request may force the Gunners to relent. Despite still wanting to rejoin Barca, however, Fabregas is not willing to show Arsenal any disrespect and believes a written transfer request would be a step too far.

With it looking increasingly likely he will have to stick with the Gunners for at least another year, sources close to Fabregas have told him not to burn his bridges and make a return to the Emirates for the coming season uncomfortable.

He is due back at Arsenal next week after being granted extended leave, along with fellow World Cup finalist Robin van Persie. And Wenger has warned that it may take Spain international Fabregas and Holland striker Van Persie until September to start reproducing their best form.

  56. RT.Z

    Denilson + 15 million = De Rossi

    Rosicky + 5 million = Honda

    Mertersacker = 10 million

    Campbell = Free

    Shay Given = 5 million

  57. Arse&Nose©

    RT.z

Cesc not wanting to give in a transfer request is nothing to do with loyalty or love but everything to do with money and his contract.

If he gives in a transfer request he loses 5 years x 120k

Cesc wants Arsenal to sell him without having a transfer request so he can claim his ‘loyalty’ bonus!!

This makes me dislike our captain even more…

  58. Mayank

A&N, I think you’ll find that clubs that make players forgo the loyalty bonus pay it to the players themselves. Just like you pay a signing on bonus to a free transfer for forgoing it.

  59. kev

that true mark? source? how many players are we getting rid of – i dont like denilson but hed do as a squad player. were gonna be left well short

  60. nicoman

I cant understand why so many gooners are not able to see that the main problem with our defence is the fullbacks and holding midfielder. Clichy and Sagna cannot defend and Song although much improved is far too slow and clumsey. Against the best teams the top players with speed just cruise past him. Clichy gets taken on the inside constantly and Sagna cannot stop crosses flooding in. Even worse they are useless going forward no goals no assists not even a decent cross. We need Van der Wiel/Richards , promote gibbs/traore and melho/mascherano but i suppose ill just have to pray that Nordtveit and Frimpong prove to be absolute revelations in the next few weeks.

  61. Man

A, that is a lie! They played 442 when Ade was fit, with Bellamy on the left and Johnson on the right. When in the lead played 451, closing matches out with Vieira or a holding player coming in. Even against Manure they started with 442, with Tevez behind Ade!!!!

  62. TOM TOM

Stu I was saying that Walcott is not good enough on the wing and cant pick out a pass with his final ball so i suggested we try him up front,as i recall i think that worked with Henry if you remember him.

  63. TOM TOM

Totally agree with nicoman,I’ve been saying that for months and i think alot of fans will see this season that Clichy and Sagna are just not good enough

  64. santino

denilson to roma is a done deal, unless its lazio which i doubt, either way he’s leaving

oops .this is too good news to be true…..

  65. TOM TOM

I’m saying Walcott is a failure on the wing and if i had my way I’d get him out but alot of fans like him so I’m suggesting we try him upfront but I know its a risk

  66. santino

for our defensive flaws i wont criticize the players …its about the system and the coaches …

wenger cant even teach 6’2 diaby how to head the ball ffs….he is with us five years and no improvement in his heading and tackling …

  67. timao

    Arsenal 8/15

…to finish in the top four – surely this is the easiest money out there? arsenal never finish outside the top four! monday morning i’m remortgaging the house!

  68. Goonerpower

Jesus Tom Tom Walcott not good enough clichy not good enough sagna not good enough dennnyson not good enough. WTF next you will say van persie can’t shoot for shit lol talk about backing your team, and thank fuck your not in charge the team!!!!!!

  69. leon

i remember the wigan game so well it was such pivital game and i know if we had beaton them we would have won the prem but the lack matority in the team was heavily exposed there complete lack of ability kill game off was all to see. to wengers credit he got rid off dead wood in the team silvest senderos,as for gallas has demonstrated to me has no love for the club.verm and and new defender is good start but someone experienced in dm position is needed.eastmond is not ready.i am not real big fan melo does look all that great so i am not sure.wenger has stated he still looking defensive signings.i am not worried about the attacking options at all they have rvp bretna chamakh vela aa risicky lansbury ramsey wilshire cesc and the strikers are very physical presence about them which what was missing

  70. santino

walcott is a joke …he got pace thats about it …may be its mental or lack of brain cells .i think this is his last year at the club …hell!! even city dont want him..

  71. sixx pac

Lol. So we should put Van Persie on the wing and put Theo down the middle. Kids say the darndest things

  72. SUGA3

    timao,

bookies know their stuff and there is more suitors than ever – I’d say hold your horses, unless we add to the squad…

  73. A

So we’re odds on to get in the top four timao – why would you put money on it, it’s a given but crap odds!

  74. timao

i’m more confident going into this campaign than previous years. we will kick off with a barnstorming win over liverpool, i just know it.

  75. timao

A – the odds are only crap if you think we won’t finish in the top four. i’m just going by the fact that we always finish in the top four, so 8/15 is just like finding money in the street!

  76. Gooby

i like clichy’s attitude, i think he is a fighter and gives everything he has to the cause not to mention he is one of the best LB in the league.

it would be a move in the wrong direction selling clichy

  77. sixx pac

Starting to think the players Pedro is talking about are Danielle de Rossi and Hugo Lloris. It all makes sense. Lloris is probably the only 20 mil keeper who is attainable

  78. SUGA3

wouldn’t want that, really, Song is way better in DM than CB position, probably due to the fact that he does not carry the mental burden of being the last line of defence…

besides, de Rossi is Roma through and through, he’s class in Serie A but Italians generally don’t travel very well, do they?

  79. SUGA3

Song should be called upon to play CB only as the very last resort, then again, we would need another DM, unless Frimpong can step up for the few games…

    not ideal, but hey…

  80. Stu

Haha Yeah i remember Henry TomTom. He could shoot (on target) beat anyone comfortably, could use and score with either foot and pas better than most of the rest of the league. Yeah lets compare Theo to him.
