Eduardo in and Eduardo out? Come on Arsenal, let’s get on with it!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Today sees another keeper enter the fray, this time the Portuguese keeper Eduardo, at 27 though it seems unlikely, I’d have him over what we currently have, but if Wenger’s masterplan is Chezzers, I doubt it will happen.

Eduardo, our injured striker is surrounded by ifs-buts-and maybe’s, though I like him and would be sorry to see him go, but if he is damaged in the head department, then maybe we should say thanks and move on, I really don’t know what the boss is thinking but I would be guided by inside information there.

Harry trying to hi-jack our move for Cole seems funny, last week he was ready to ditch the spuds for the England job, this week he’s back to his smarmy best, make your mind up Harry, England or Spurs! At least our manager puts Arsenal before France.

With the world cup due to end this weekend and pre season around the corner, I would expect things to start happening soon, they have to don’t they if he wants the team in place for the up and coming friendlies, we now have Dagenham to play, good news for our Essex based supporters, but I’m not sure what that will achieve, we would have been better off travelling to the US and earn some money rather than risking injury at places like Dagenham, still what do I know eh?

Cesc still looks like he wants out, so at least by Wednesday we’ll know if one of him or the two Germans will be an Arsenal player, Germany and Spain can’t both go through so either Ozil, Schweinsteiger or Cesc will decide their futures, though I suspect Wenger has his eye on someone we’ve never heard of from the french second division.

I do love the new home kit, I’m not sure about the away one and I really like the return of the clock, so all we need now is some world class players and I’ll be gagging for the season to begin, to be honest I’m gagging anyway, but at least facing the clock will bring back memories of a bygone age when we won things, do you realise that since we’ve been at the Grove, we’ve won zip! Maybe that’s all about to change, apparently Brady says we are interested in a few Germans, let’s hope so eh!

A last word for ex-Brit David Feherty, I watched Justin Rose win another PGA tour event in the USA last night, many of you may know the dim ex-Northern Irish twit has recently become an American, having to listen to him suck up to the US commentators over the last few months made me feel a little sick, but yesterday he took the biscuit, he said as Rose had a putt to win on the 18th, ‘it would be unfair if a redcoat won on July 4th’ what a wa*ker, David turning on your own is as low as it gets, you really are a scumbag, I hope your new masters gave you a pat on the back, I’m sure your relatives think you’re a top man. I particularly admire your new image, you look like a 300lb scarecrow shoved into a laundry bag and tossed into a barrel of monkey spunk.

Have a great day grovers, things should start to happen soon.

watching the world cup coverage on irish tv because Liam Brady is a pundit but he only said we might be interested in Ozil but alot of clubs would be after him. He predicted the Arshavin signing tho. Waiting to see if he mentions anymore transfer targets

  2. Pedro

    A, I think that was a Young Guns story…

Red Arse, the blog police getting their knickers in a twist about transfer stories, like they are some sort of purists.

When I first started out on newsnow, that’s all I was interested in. You get to learn about new players and get your fix of football during the down time!

    Good times I say…

  3. cescfiberglass

    hey

I noticed this on the Arsenal page.

    hhttp://www.arsenal.com/news/transfer-links/transfer-linked-portugal-keeper-eduardo

I think the Arsenal management team has started using its brains.

This is a great way to get our fans opinions and gives them an official place to state their views on potential transfer targets.

Great way to generate pore hits on the site and people looking around, waiting for transfer announcements.

The newspaper can be a tool for us fans to voice our opinions. if we like the transfer speculation rate it, if you don’t like it dont rate the transfer.

  4. A

Gotta say Kris Boyd is one hell of a signing for Middlesbrough. He’ll score absolute shitloads in the championship

  5. Pedro

haha, like that rhymme Red Arse!

Right, I’m off out to hit some balls over the range… have a good one!

  6. Marko

Hey fellas what’s the goss today? Who heard we’re being linked with Gerrard? He’s only half decent these days and while I’d love the Steiger from Bayern he’d cost an arm and a leg.

  7. A

cescfiberglass that has nothing to do with the management team, it’s just the web team/website being even more detached from the actual club, and trying to turn itself into a tabloidy newspaper, catering to those who love gossiping about things.

I don’t like it at all

  8. AA23

Thanks to DDM’s “source” we know for a 100% fact we definitely are NOT getting Gerrard, Schweinsteiger or setting a British transfer record for anyone.
    Cool

  9. cescfiberglass

    A

I think if it was about being detached from the club, i think arsenal management would oppose to such a move, and have it removed.

A website is definitely important in displaying who you are a club, as its content is controlled by the club.

I definitely agree it is the web developers idea, but an excellent strategy by management to agree with it, as the potentials of the interweb are only a fraction of what we know.

    Another defender

rsenal are reported to have begun negotiations to swell their depleted defensive ranks with Algeria World Cup 2010 star Rafik Halliche, according to Chromofoot.com.

Halliche, 23, caught the eye of manager Arsene Wenger with his strong displays in South Africa. After helping to shut out England in the group stage, the Benfica defender tops the list of targets to replace out of contract stars William Gallas, Sol Campbell and Mikael Silvestre.

Talks between the centre back’s agent and Arsenal are rumoured to have already begun in a London hotel. Halliche is understood to be keen to make the switch after spending the last two seasons on loan at Nacional.

  11. Marko

Well this Halliche fella I’m assuming is better than Silvestre so he’ll be a good addition at fourth choice centre back.

  12. Pat

This Ruffier keeper we’re linked with might be good. I went on some French forums and pretty much all of them describe him and Lloris as: “Les 2 meilleur gardiens Français.”

  13. Lou

All these rumours are interesting but I think there is some “reflected glory” basking, head stuff going on. I myself am a journalist though not in the sporting area. I do however know a couple of well known alcoholics/football journos who are forever recycling the Joe Cole/ Schwartzer spiel whenever I ask them what the word is. The horrible and rather disappointing truth is that no-one, with the exception of Wenger, Gazidis and a couple of others know what is really happening but I imagine there are a number of irons in the fire and that these will be quickly extinguished as the World Cup draws to a close and Arsenal are priced out of the running for all the names we might want to see. T’was ever thus I’m afraid.

  14. Stu

What happened to Koscielny signing being announced today?? Its about time we got some signings in. Pre seasons is edging closer and closer dont ya know.

RTZ, stop posting shit from footballrumours.com and other bullshit sites. Dont you have your own opinion that you can share rather than other peoples?

  17. Marko

Who said we wack? You take it back! I see Bordeaux are going for Remy, shouldn’t we be looking for this guy, can play up the centre or on the right of a front 3 and is highly rated and has his heart set on Arsenal.

  18. sixx pac

Marko we’ll let Bordeaux take him for a couple yrs then he can come home. He has Wenger’s DNA

  19. CedarBayDave

Why does Cesc need pain killing injections? Does his shoulder hurt when he has to sit still for a long time or does this mean he might actually get a start?

  20. Arsene Nose Best

    MARK GOONER says:

whos happy with verm and koceilny as our 2 centre backs

    im not

  21. Maciek

Funny how we all want Gerrard and Bastian and a world class defender and cdm, but it won’t happen.

We will end up with Chamakh, Swartzer, Koscielny, this Algierian guy and that will be all.

Don’t fool yourself. Bring Dein back.

Even Wolsburg has made better transfers since they signed Fredrich and Kjaer.

    WE are a joke.

In 2 weeks time you will say that these transfers are world class. Pathetic!!!

    A joke of a club.

From Vieira, Freddie, Henry, Bobby to Koscielny and Swartzer.

Yes, Emirates move has helped us a lot.

  22. Jimbo

Arsenal to concede over / under 41 goals next season?

I reckon over – unless we fire the moron in charge.

  23. Stu

Out of interest BBK, which CB do you want?

Jimbo, i reckon under. I mean Silvestre is gone so thats a good 5 to 10 goals gone already.

  24. Maciek

    Over Jimbo.

We will concede about 50, and finish 7th and the Clown will be sacked.

Keep the faith mate. His time is over.

  25. Jimbo

Oh Maciek, I hope you’re right.

Well, about Wenger’s time being over, not about conceding 50, that is. Then again, I doubt we’ll have one without the other, so who knows…

  26. Maciek

Seeing as City are doing all these transfers and Spurs are aiming high, I feel ashamed and uncomfortable. The liar has done it again. Thanks Arsene.

  27. sixx pac

Vieria, Pires, Henry, Freddy. All signed by Wenger right. 50 goals. What premise is that based on. We are getting a better keeper, an improved Song and a seemingly fitter CB partnership.

  28. Maciek

I think M. Keown would have done a great job as Arsenal manager. At least he knows how to defend and he would have kicked Denilson and Diaby straight up their arses.

  29. Jimbo

Well Stu, we’ve let Gallas go, and we’re signing a player who can’t get picked by either national team that he’s elegible for – it’s hardly enough to instil anyone with confidence.

We’re getting worse, year after year under Wengker – people would have thought 40 goals was unthinkable 2 years ago, and here we are now. It’s only downhill until we sack Le Chump.

  30. Maciek

Stu, we are shit mate. And Koscielny is worse than Gallas. Almunia is a joke. Our defensive play is a joke.

    Hope You are right, though.

  31. B.B.K

the next manager we want is someone who will build from the back, get the foundation sorted then go from there.

  32. Jimbo

    DDM was talking boooollllocks BBK.

My mate, who I’ve passed info on from before, has now met Kolciesny! The club are 100% sure it’s happening, though I don’t think all the legals are quite in place.

  33. Stu

Thats not specific enough bbk. You cant criticise someone we are likely to sign without offering an alternative.

Jimbo, yeah we are letting Gallas go but he has never had a full season with us. He missed 2-3 months of last season. Getting rid of him might add stability at the back, theres no way of telling. And we didnt win anything with him in defence so its not like we are losing much anyway.

  34. sixx pac

It would be nice if people do research before posting bullshit. Koscielny CANNOT play for Poland now because he aint got his documents sorted. Mexes didnt make the French team. Must be shite heh

  35. Jimbo

Stu – our conceding rate was only very slightly worse without Gallas than with him.

The problem isn’t personnel in our defence, though we need good players at the very least. If Kolciesny is as dodgy as he sounds, we could easily be on course for 50 goals, especially with no other signings, and Flappianski being our #1

  36. Goonerman

I don’t think Keown himself knows whether he would be a good manager otherwise he would have taken the chance (rather than be a TV pundit).

  37. Pedro

Jimbo, we didn’t get worse last year… we were much improved… and we’re not going to finish 7th next year.

    A bit of perspective…

  38. Jimbo

DDM’s source has a proven track record???

    Since when?

I believe my source because I know him personally, and I know exactly what he does. He’s not on the footballing side of the club, so it’s not like having Wengker’s ear, but he passes on the office gossip, and he works closely with a couple of groups who do work on transfers, so he usually hears things a little earlier than most.

  39. reggie 57

Imagine keown giving these players a half time bollocking they wouldnt turn up for the next game!!

  40. Pedro

Jimbo, since he told us last year that Ade had been asked to leave in March.

I’ve met DDM, he has no reason to lie and he’s definitely not that type of bloke.

You take or leave these things… but Wenger has had an interest in the German before and Gerrard is leaving Liverpool one way or the other…

  41. sixx pac

First off his name is Koscielny. 2nd he is elligible to play for Poland as he hasnt been capped by France yet. But as of this moment he hasnt completed all hi documents yet so he cant play for poland

  42. Pedro

We finished 3rd though… so it wasn’t a season of getting worse.

Attacking wise we were much better and had it not been for key poor players, we wouldn’t have conceded 41. Almunia, Fabianski and Silvestre will all leave or be outcasted…

Them being out the frame is 10 goals already…

  43. Pedro

Sixx Pac, what documents do you have to fill out and why hasn’t he done so if he was in demand?

This is a Professional football association here… I’m sure if they wanted him, he’d have signed. Shouldn’t we be more worried about why he wasn’t in the weakest French squad for years?

  44. Jimbo

    Pedro,

If even one of those things were true, I’d trust my mate to know. You can go with DDM if you like, but if any of that were happening, I’d be shocked if they’d kept it so quiet within the club that I wouldn’t have heard. It’s possible, of course, but I think DDM’s either talking shit or been fed shit to spread (probably the latter, if you’ll vouch for him).

    If we:

    A) sign Gerrard
    B) sign Schweinsteiger
    C) Break the british transfer record for any position

You can either ban me from this site, or change my name to “Wenger = God”.

  45. Stu

Koscielny not being capped for france means very little because he is a late bloomer and domenech is a twat anyway. He has obviously chosen to play for Poland now but because he is primarily french (i assume he has a polish grandparent) he doesnt have the proper polish documents to play for them yet.

  46. Pedro

Jimbo, I’m not saying it’s gospel, all I’m saying is that DDM isn’t a fantasist or anything like that…

For me, we’d have to break a record to get the German, let alone anyone else.

I can’t think of who else in the world we’d be able to get for that sort of money? Kaka?

I just can’t ever see Arsenal shelling out big money.

    Still. we’ll wait and see…

  47. Pedro

I don’t think there are any such forms to fill out in situations like that… it’s just an excuse people make up.

  48. B.B.K

what i want to see of vern this season is him being a defender first and foremost,it’s ok chipping in with the odd goal but when he goes forwards as much as he did do last season it’s not good enough.

  49. Stu

Vermaelen going forward wouldnt be such a problem if he was covered. Its not enough for Song to just drop back into CB. One of the other midfielders needs to be aware if the oppo get the ball and want to start a counter attack, so that they can either win the ball back before anything developed or chop the oppo player down to stop an attack from even starting.

Diaby is fine physically but i doubt he has the awareness to do that kind of job. MVB anyone?

  50. Stu

I remember us being linked with him last summer because his contract was running low but then he signed an extension and the rumours stopped.

  51. sixx pac

Jimbo I dont need a sorce to tell me that we will sign Koscielny. Every man and his goat has known this for the better part of a month

  52. arsenal4ever

@ dennisdamenace: pls mate dont talk shit. it is not funny to tell such stories if there is no truth in it!!! fingers crossed you are right!!!!!

  53. Jimbo

Ok, sixx, I’m just telling you what I know – all the photos etc have been done for him, because my mate was there when they were happening. I don’t know why it’s not been announced yet – guess there are i’s to dot and t’s to cross.

  54. gambon

We wont concede 50 goals but we will need to concede <30 to win the league.

Are we capable of doing that? Im not so sure.

  55. sixx pac

Pedro dont u have to be a citizen to play for a country? He’s not yet a Polish citizen. He has applied though

  56. Stu

If anything i am pleased that he has been given 6 because now we will have 5 and 6 starting in the middle of the defence (if he is first choice). Now just to give Sagna 2 and Clichy (or Gibbs) 3.

  57. SUGA3

    evening ;)

Koscielny is yet to get the Polish citizenship/passport, I am sure of that…

as for ‘professional FA’ in PL, it’s anything but, and I wouldn’t put fucking it up past them, as they happened to let Podolski slip through their fingers, despite him going all ‘come and get me’…

  58. B.B.K

get to fuck be given the 6,sendedross wasn’t worthy enough of the number 6,this guy certainly is not.

  59. TOM TOM

Cant believe people think any club would pay 15 million for Sagna. He cant cross, poor in the air and his positioning is not great. Think he has only ever scored one goal for us and i know he is right back but all the best right backs in the world usually get 7 or 8 goals per season

  60. Stu

TomTom, you are definately only saying that because of Maicon and ALves being given free reign to run forward for their teams.

I dont think Sagna is worth 15m either but thats going a bit far to imply he is good at nothing.

  61. SUGA3

    BBK,

once again, I have to defend Swiss Tony – he would be great for us if it was not for Wenger dropping him for malaria infested Toure who was easily one of the worst players in the ACN a few weeks earlier…

  62. sixx pac

He has OCD. He once was eating and counted 102 beans on his plate. He called the waitress and gave her the extra two. You remind me of him

  63. Stu

Fucking hell Tom, if you think Sagna isnt good enough for Arsenal i cant imagine what you think of the rest of the squad.

  64. Queen of Suburbia

I wasn’t going to tell you this because well, its not true, but i have a friend who’s a Lorient season ticket holder. He reckons the Koss is one of the best defenders he’s ever seen.

  65. sixx pac

Sagna Ok? This is another case of not appreciating our own. Only one fullback I’d have over him is Ramos

  66. TOM TOM

Dont get me started on Denilson,I’m thinking of having a collection outside the emirates so we can hire a good sniper

  67. TOM TOM

Anyone think Benzema could be a great signing for arsenal? Him alongside RVP would be unstoppable. Think he might be available for 20 million

  68. sixx pac

BBK what makes Sagna shite. As u say for Denilson, he is a defender so leave the attacking part out of it( crossing)

  69. RT.Z

Adebayor is proven in the Premier League, him and Van Persie were amazing whenever they played with each other.

Benzema though is unproven and there are better strikers available.

  70. SUGA3

    BBK,

he happens to be a part of the record breaking defence in that CL campaign – it’s all about balance and the right coaching…

    Wenger doesn’t rate defending – fact…

  71. alex

saying its gonna be confirmed when wenger comes back from africa

prob want to take pics or meet him first

  72. A

Because Lorient won’t sign him over to us until they complete the signing of the replacement….

    No kerfuffle, just educating you!

  73. GalwayGooner

Nice piece at the end with the American/Northern Irish commentator, the whole “turning on your own” is completely hypocritical on your behalf. You regularly turn on your own team and what they are trying to do, something which is both admirable and inspiring. I really hope once Wenger has proved you all wrong and won our club the titles(which are coming)that you will realise we have the most competent and visionary manager in the world and we will always be working towards the benchmark he has set!! I think its time all gooners just got behind the team instead of trying to rip it apart because of a lean spell. IN WENGER WE TRUST!!

    have you been drinking today

  75. Queen of Suburbia

oooh nice angle there BBK. Some might have suggested that it was the ramblings of a crazy drunk, but not you, oh no, you are concern that he is hydrated properly.

I like this new caring you.

  76. Stu

    G-G-G-GalwayGooner,
Why shouldnt we be allowed to criticise the team if we arent winning? Or even if we are winning? Acknowledging the flaws is the first step towards fixing them.

Im sure 95% of the posters on here would be more than happy to admit we were wrong if Wenger wins more trohpies…there are still a select few who would still hate him though.
