Arsenal are so naive and completely stupid / How about that little snippet?

Aaron Ramsey signs new deal with Arsenal – Gunners secure future of 19 year old Welsh midfielder.

Arsenal.com June 1st 2010.

Really, just exactly how have we done that then? Will some bright spark at the Arsenal tell me how shoving another huge pay rise at a kid is securing his future? Are we not in the process of kissing Cesc Fabregas’s arse in order to get him to stay for another year? The same Cesc that is contracted to stay until 2015 anyway?

Or did I miss something? Are Arsenal football club that stupid that they are bragging about signing Ramsey up to the same long term deal that Cesc signed only to be begging him not to go when the ink is barely dry on his contract?

Has anyone at our club got any common sense or a business brain at all? Jesus Christ, what are you playing at Arsenal, does all the money we pay to watch our team get spunked up the wall on pay rises for apprentices?

Who or what is running this club, it seems to me that they are taunting us, it beggers belief, tie all your best players down to long term contracts with bumper pay rises and if they want to break them, you have to respect the player, who makes those decisions? And what halfwit then thought it would be a great idea to brag about it on arsenal.com, like they are proud of themselves, I am staggered. I am absolutely staggered.

Add to that just by reading the blogs they would know we are sick to death of hearing about players extended contracts and we just want signings.

Salt in the wound? Given that probably every Arsenal fan in the ground and elsewhere thinks both our keepers are rubbish,  you would think arsenal.com would stay away from the subject, oh no, arsenal.com run Arsenal’s 5 greatest saves and at number 4 is Fabianski’s one against Wigan in 2008, perhaps they should show Fabianski’s howlers against Wigan in 2010 and remind us how we blew the league, it’s like they are taking the mickey, like our opinion counts for nothing, like they take us for granted.

I’m furious. When are we going to get a strong management team in at this club? When are we going to get a team in that stops pandering to players that are sub standard, when are we going to get a management team that puts its customers first. Us, and question bad decisions made by its coach?

The whole footballing world can’t be wrong, but don’t hold your breath, it will be a long wait with this mob at the helm.

Even fans favourite old boy Paul Merson says Theo has learned nothing under Wenger, except how to be a bad winger, something else for a player that we bought for £12million don’t you think? If it wasn’t for Southampton getting in the deep stuff it would have been £12mil and not £8mil, still a lot of money for a 16 year old.

Still we did give him an extended contract and £60k a week, so until someone offers him more, expect him to stick around and honour his new and improved deal.

Having said all that, it’s not Theo’s fault he was bought as a forward and stuck out on the wing.

So Capello decides not to take him to the world cup finals, the reason? His last two displays were disappointing, we know that feeling Fabio, at least you know what to do in the nations interest, if I was Theo, I would have played my nuts off. The Italian doesn’t reward failure, it’s as simple as that. Martin Keown had his say here.

I’m reading that we should expect a crisis of confidence from him this year. Man-up Theo, get a bit of fire in your belly, sack the earrings, stop writing books, get your head out of your arse and get back to what made you a hot property in the first place.

On the Arsenal side of this argument, I’m sure Theo’s mega contract was dished out with ‘World Cup Star Revenue’ in mind. A bit of cock up there you have to say…

To finish on Ramsey, I’m delighted he’s hanging around, I think he’s done really well since joining and will end up better than Cesc, but what’s the point in long term contracts, they are meaningless, as we found out with Ade and are about to find out with Cesc.

Go on Arsene, surprise me, hold him to it, not one more year, that’s pussy, hold him until the final year then sell him. Then I would get as excited as Arsenal.com do over long term contracts.

Ok rant over, but it sure needed to be said.

Anyway, it’s not all bad news, we’ve heard from reliable sources tells us that personal terms have been agreed with Joe Cole and Wenger will rubber stamp it this week, good news indeed, when fit, he is a class act and it also means I get to watch the World Cup after all.

Harry seems to have narrowed it down to 2 since we heard the news,

“I’ve got a feeling, I may be wrong, that he’s already agreed a deal with someone, and it’s not Tottenham.

I don’t think he’ll be doing a medical, we know his history and we never sign fit players, it’s not the Arsenal way!

Have a great day grovers, we seem to be heading in the right direction at last.

  1. Jimbo

Pedro – Cesc will leave anyway when Wengker goes. I’d rather maximise his value now, when we know we wouldn’t re-invest a penny of it, so that the new manager has more money to spend whenever he comes in.

As far as I’m concerned, Arsenal’s chances of achieving anything are 0% until Wenger leaves, and I’d rather give the new man as much freedom and money as possible.

  2. incesc

cesc is going to be worth over 30 million for years jimbo.

selling him would be foolish if we can actually keep him

  3. Pedro

Agree Incesc… not sure why he’d be worth any less next year?

He’ll have the same amount of time left on his contract as Ronaldo had when he left for £80million.

  4. incesc

if we keep him make some good signings, win the league next year and start looking like the arsenal of old, he might decide to stay for good.

    i can dream

    :)

  5. incesc

and pedro if he escapes injuries imagine how many more goals and assists he will have to push the price up.

  6. JJ

@Pedro – Have to agree. I presume the blog post came out before Arsenal’s rejection of the the offer. Hence all the spite & venom :)

I don’t believe the club will let Cesc go after making that statement… No matter what Barca are willing to pay!

  7. Pedro

haha, Incesc, as a fan… I’ve got no interest in the price. I want him to stay forever!

Unrealistic I know… but replacing him is going to be a nigh on impossible task regardless of the cash we receive.

Mind you, I’ve every faith in Rambo and Jack being able to match him… so if we keep him for 2 years… then sell him, that could work out nicely.

  8. incesc

    ergo

    nice word :)

if he plays 34 league games next year we are probably looking at 20 goals and 20 assists.

  9. Pedro

JJ, you’re right… I think the venom was justified… watching your club getting bullied for their under contract players gets pretty tiresome.

Arsenal manned up today… good for them!

Apparently there is some big LFC news coming out in a bit…

  10. finestcuts

Yes, Barca trying to be cheapos, trying to tell Cesc he is coming to them……now they understnad, Arsenal comes first when it comes to Arsenal players.

They should go after Stevie G and piss off.

  11. Gooby

i reckon that in 2 years time ramey will be as good if not better than cesc and wilshere is going to dominate the midfield by then and is the perfect replacement for rosicky long term

  12. Nucks

I heard from a very reliable source that joe cole has agreed terms with arsenal. deal ironed out before player leaves for south Africa tonight

  13. dennisdamenace

    Kinda!

The Friday thing is for AW to decide yes or no, that’s why PR and AW have been ‘summoned’ from their holidays etc to attend the meeting…..

    The player wants to come.

    The finances have been agreed.

  14. incesc

so wenger could still stop the deal?

just saw the england players coach head to the airport, hopefully its done already…

  15. Pedro

    That will be good news…

Summer will be looking good… add a keeper and a couple of defenders and we’re looking a lot stronger

  16. LAzer

So whats the scoop? Cole is a done deal? I thought we needed defence…BUT with the addition of Chamakh and Cole even with our long list of injuries offensively we should not suffer. We would be well and truly be stacked with offensive players.

  17. LAzer

I wonder if this is one of those situations where the player just sort of ended up in our lap, we hadn’t exactly planned the raid but with Walcotts inconsistency, Bendtner being played out of position and Rosicky not being a winger we might actually have someone to play on the right now…interesting..

  18. zeus

I’m really trying to get excited about Cole coming (Its looks likely to happen), but I just can’t. Good business, but another underwhelming transfer.

  19. Thierry Henry is god

    Anyone..

What is this rumour about there being a buyout clause of 6mil in Cesc contract?

    And DDM

This player, is it Cole then?

  20. incesc

spoke to 2 chelsea fans today

neither where happy about losing joe cole for free and paying for benayoun.

    haha

now if madrid buy lampard and drogba

    :)

  21. Arse&Nose

Wenger can afford to pay joe cole 100k a week, even at that salary he will only be earning 40k more than most of the arsenal boys.

    40k per week x 3 years =£6.24million

    not a bad transfer fee

  22. incesc

also adding quality and experience in attack for free is good as now we can spend some money on the defence

  23. mike__

i think its because its another free transfer zeus he is a good singing but so many of us want arsenal to go out and use some financial muscle in the transfer market. two free signings although good signings suggest arsenal still dont want to spend money.

  24. LAzer

Cesc’s greatest conversation went something like this…

Cesc: I still want to leave

AW: I will do everything to find a way for you to leave if thats what you want, but concentrate on your football with Spain. Denilson, Almunia and Flappy won’t be in the showers anymore.

    Cesc: Ok I will stay

  25. Rocky89

For those that know the Film …

today we stopped being Johnny Fontaine and became the Godafather :)

  26. incesc

we can still get in 4 top players though mike and have 6 new first team players next season.

I hope this is something to build on this summer.

  27. incesc

oh and it doesnt really bother me cole is free. Doesnt matter at all to me really. his an england international with bags of talent who has won loads of stuff…

  28. Rocky89

Signing Joe Cole is a better statement than say signing Lassana Diarra.

No point having a Cesc at the club that feels that he has been duped or coerced. He may stay with the club for a while if we win next year.

  29. Gooby

it is urgent to get a goalie, CB and a DM. everything else is a plus

we weren’t far from the title this season, if we had less injuries or if we went out of the CL at an earlier stage it could have been a hole different story.

we had gallas, cesc, arshavin back at the same time and RvP after that for the final 3

  30. Jaguar

Joe Cole would be brilliant. But the question is whether hypocrite would want to kill the retard Diabolical.

  31. Thierry Henry is god

    I agree Gooby

We need to fix the defensive issues with our team.

Thats the only way we’ll win the league.

  32. Jaguar

If we need to fix the defensive issues we will have to sign atleast four defenders(assuming Gallas,Senderos and Campbell leave +anothe back up defenders).Else we would be worse than last year.

Senderos ahead of Djourou in the Swiss team. The hypocrite Wenger is the only reason behind Senderos’s decline.

  33. Gooby

if we add let’s say speaking realistic:

    Frey(who wants out)
kajer(he has a £12m clause in his contract and that’s not too much even for us)
m.diarra(who’d cost £6m and can rotate with the others)

that’s arround £25 millions, what we paid for adebayor add to that the contracts, that makes £35/40m

    it’s not bad imo

if we can loan walcott, we get rid of a part of his salary, gallas and silvestre out should make extra millions too.

we we’ll have vermy, kajer, djourou, cambell; bartley and nordveit and the back!

  34. LAzer

Joe Cole after he Chelsea fans player of the year award in 07-08

‘I always dreamt of playing for Chelsea and my other dream was to play for the best team in the world. I think I am doing both things at the moment so I am very happy. ‘I was trying to think of what to say, but I’m not used to that kind of thing. I’m happy but I’d like to thank the fans for voting for me, and also I want to be better next year,’

  35. Jaguar

    Thierry Henry is god,

Diaby would be the first name in the team sheet after Fabregas. No way is the retard going to be dropped.

  36. incesc

senderos had loads of chances but he just never did it.

more often than not he fucked up.

now he cant get in evertons team, he couldnt get in milans team, how is that wengers fault?

  37. gambon

    Lou

Funny that. Its astonishing how many puppets Barca seem to have, but only since the Cesc story broke.

  38. LAzer

    06-07:
The injury problems of Joe Cole began in the pre-season of 2006/07, just weeks after Cole’s participation in England’s 2006 World Cup squad ,in which he made his mark by scoring the side’s best goal of the tournament. He made his return in November of that year in a fixture against Manchester United. In January 2007, Cole underwent surgery for a stress fracture on his foot he suffered in late 2006.

    08-09
After surgery on his knee to repair an injury he picked up in the FA Cup clash with Southend United, Cole missed the rest of the season.

    09-10
Cole did not play for Chelsea in the pre-season, due to cruciate ligament damage in his knee, suffered in January 2009.

So who says he’s not a crock? Three years in a row, those are similar to much maligned RVP injury stats. Although when he came back this year he did score that brilliant goal against Utd to probably seal the title.

  39. Jaguar

Gooby,Diaby had one or two good moments against some shit teams. The retard will be taken apart by any half decent team. The most over rated useless player who every played for Arsenal. The only reason why he plays for us is because of our hypocrite manager, who only looks at the nationality and the language spoken by a player than his skills.

  40. LAzer

Jag your rants are so over the top and pointless they really don’t even illicit a response anymore.

  41. LAzer

a midget to boot who’s childhood club no longer wants to keep him because they have better talent in the first 11. And all of us are getting excited with just the rumors already. Me included btw so perhaps the standard of things is pretty low these days.

  42. Arse&Nose

    We pay Theo’s wages.

By the way on the joe cole thing, dont believe for a minute he supported chelsea as a boy that is bullshit. His whole family are gooners and hammers, he admits he is thick and doesn’t know what to say in front of the cameras that is where this chelsea supporting rubbish came from.

  43. Samir

Im not saying this is true at all…Probably a load of shit but I found this on Football-rumours.co.uk

My dad is friends with one of the groundsmen at the emirates, and first of all he has been told that arsene will submit a bid of £6.2 million for Laurent Koscielny tonight, and that Fabregas will be staying at the Emirates for next season at least, because he wants to win something there. Also Wenger has agreed terms with Joe Cole’s agent, and Joe will be signing a three year contract at the Emirates, worth £80,000 a week. Both signings are set to be announced before the start of the World Cup. Finally it has been confirmed that Gourcuff has verbally agreed to join arsenal before the world cup for £21.8 million. Although, this deal will only be announced after the world cup. He would not join Bordeux’s bitter rivals Lyon. A goal keeper may also be signed, likely to be Frey. But This is all of the transfer activity at the emirates this summer.(coming in anyway)

  44. Jaguar

    Lazer.

Diaby,Denilson,Almunia are shite and Wenger is the only reason why these mugs are playing for us

Wenger is the most over rated and overpaid manager in the history of football and we wont win anything anymore with that mug in charge

These are not rants, these are FACTS

  45. Gooby

next season we’ll have few how will want to prove themselfs

    theo
    nasri
joe cole if he comes will be gutted to show chavski that he got the talent
arshavin what a lazy bastard :D
clichy because of the Gibbs behind him

  46. LAzer

like I said Jag, the statements are so over the top its not even worth responding, thus no one ever really wants to debate your absolute written in stone statements.

  47. TinTin

    Samir
all of that was all sounded possible right up until the £21.8 million pounds for gourcuff, wenger is never gona splash that kinda cash don’t get me wrong i’d love it to happen but sounds pretty unlikely

  48. Arse&Nose

LAzer, nicely dug out! Doesn’t say anywhere in his quotes that he supported chelsea, says he watched them but not supported them.

I know for a fact his family are hammers and gooners. Wouldnt be surprised if he had an uncle who supported chelsea and took him to see a few games, but nothing more than that.

  49. Thierry Henry is god

    Gambon

It does sound a bit stupid doesn’t it?

But on the otherhand, you never know. My friends sister plays in the Swedish national team, and when they were on a training camp in Scotland, they had some medics up over there who work at Arsenal who confirmed that Chamakh was a done deal already in the beginning of spring.

  50. Nin

The Joe Cole thing confuses me. An unusual amount of posters on various forums and blogs say that he WILL sign of us. You always get people claiming to be ITK, but I’ve never seen as many in various places as with the rumour that Cole is signing for us. But journalists like Cross and Kay say there’s very little to the rumours.

Dennisdamenace, why would Wenger wait to “decide” if he wants him or not? If Arsenal have offered him a deal and he’s accepted, it doesn’t make sense for Wenger to then decide that he has to think about it.

  51. TinTin

but if, and i know its a big if, we sign Gourcuff i don’t see why him and cesc can’t play in the same team if we continue to play 4-3-3 Xavi and Ineista do it for Barca

  52. SongtheGreat

one thing that is spot on Jaguar is the fact that not only are Johan behind Sendy in the pecking order he is no better than Sendy…then if one should be criminally honest….none of them will ever be good enough for Arsenal,,,,but what the heck ill put up with Johan for a couple of years…since he’s young ;…Sendy havent got the brain…sad though because he is a great character…

someone asked about Nordtveit…improved but far from ready…give him time..

  53. gambon

    TinTin

Barca know how to defend, we dont.

If we put Gourcuff in the midfield the 41 goals we conceded this season will become 48 next season.

  54. BillikenGooner

    Cole + Gourcuff (+ Cesc staying)… hmmmmm.

Well, it at least make it interesting to think about who gets the axe from the squad.

  55. LAzer

See how the groundsmens brothers uncles friends left nuts best mate Colleen’s right tit can spread a rumor on a blog and everyone getting there panties in a twist. You have to love the silly season!!

  56. Thierry Henry is god

Gourcuff does work pretty well as a CM. I’m convinced that he could be schooled to become a great player in our system. Even with Cesc playing.

Laurent Blanc has used him as a more central midfielder on occations with Bordeaux.

  57. Gooby

true but we had diaby and delision in CM last yr and there not exactly what i’d call defensively aware at least with gourcuff in midfeild we’d bang in more goals, but i think everyones in a agreement that first and foremost we need a keeper and probley 2 centrehalves

As long as the GK, CB & DM are high quality I quite like that.

  60. Rocky89

Where is the beast of a midfielder we need for the away games in the north? All very skillful but we need a nasty piece of work too!

  61. s_w_e_d_e

I’d take Gourcuff for £21.8 m, and since his release clause is just that sum we’re unlikly to get him for less.

  62. Thierry Henry is god

RVP with Chamakh as a backup, pretty nice actually. Or when Cole breaks down we can play RVP on the left and Chamakh in the middle, giving us some much needed quality rotation among our attackers.

But we still have a hole to plug in defence.

  63. Jaguar

Choy,we wont even win the carling cup with the retards in crime,Diabolical and Denilshite,in the squad.

  64. sir henry norris

Anyhows Joe Cole will not be joining us as he is no better than what we have at the club already.

  65. TinTin

this Koscielny lad could be another Vermaelen but even if he is and we do sign him we’ll still need another coz his a bit on the short side 6’1 we need at least 1 CB over the 6’3 mark

  66. goonermichael

    Jaguar
You’ve made your point and planty of people agree with you but it starts to get a bit repetitive and borng.

    EXCELLENT POINT!!

  68. Arsene Nose Best

i think the red ones would stump up for him.

do you believe he will sign for us tho g.m???

  69. Jaguar

Agreed GM.But how about some people saying that Joe COle is not better than what we have at the club already(including that wanker Diabolical)

  70. gambon

A colleague of mine is french and keeps me updated on french football.

Apparantly Koscielny is an excellent player, very tough in the tackle & pacy.

Not sure id want him in the first team yet though.

  71. SongtheGreat

    Arse&Nose…

if Song takes another step next season ..look no further…you have your man,,for late nite shows up north ;)

  72. Arse&Nose

like rocky89 said, we are still going to get whalloped when we travel away to bolton, blackburn,,sunderland, birmingham etc..

We are signing more of the same, Wenger is not addressing the need for power and grit in our team.

  73. Martin Hayes Never Missed

Is Theo Walcott the new John Barnes??

Anyone remember the mid to late 80′s when John Barnes was always in the England team after a one off great goal vs Brazil (fast forward to Theo vs Croatia) …perhaps Fabio has done us all a favour.

  74. gambon

    A&N

    Thats why id like Cahill.

He may not be the best against Barca in the Nou Camp but away to Sunderland, Blackburn, even Chelsea i think hed be superb.

  75. Arse&Nose

Cahill is decent, but Bolton are asking for 15m which is a joke.

It is like we have to pay a tax on english players, if he was from namibia we could get him for 5m tops.

  76. Gooby

they are asking for £30m for cahill witch is nothing short of insane. he is still unproven in a top side. i’d pay £12m for him,

  77. Thierry Henry is god

yeah well, send Wilshere back on loan to Bolton and give us Cahill for a better price, or those inbreds can go and fuck off!

  78. Gooby

if i were cahill i would want to come and play in a top three team and get CL football instead of staying up north and fighting for relegation

  79. A

Cahill would be all well and good, but we need someone who’s actually good enough to partner Vermaelen now. Someone as good as, if not better than Gallas, but who compliments Vermy a bit better

  80. TinTin

what Vermaelen needs is a big lump to play along side get back to a Campbell Toure type partnership

  81. Thierry Henry is god

    A

We need someone that can read the game better then Vermy, someone who can be there and forsee Vermy’s mistakes. Cuz lets face it, even though he was brilliant at times he does have a nack to fuck up in certain crucial situations.

  82. A

TinTin Vermaelen needs someone who reads and organises the game very well, so will keep him in line when he gets overexcited and goes running out of position to try and win the ball

  83. A

Yep agree THIG – Vermaelen is over-enthusiastic at times trying to win the ball back, and just goes sprinting out of position, especially in the bigger games

  84. Gooby

vermy does read the game well. but he lacks a bit of concentration when he gets excited. he is not very experienced but i am sure next year he’ll become a really top class CB.

garray or pepe would be very good imo

  85. E12 GUNNER

Just noticed that Skybet has taken the joe cole transfer betting off their market. That only usually happens when something is going on. Some serious money has probably been put on him coming here.

  86. RT.Z

    We have officially signed

    The AFRICAN ACE

    Mbwango BOUBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBA KAPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    for an undisclosed fee

  87. TinTin

A, yeah but when we come up against teams with big forwards like drogba we can’t handle it and haven’t since Sol had his break down against west ham, some1 like Sol in his prime would be ideal as he’d bring the best of both

  88. Gooby

we are looking into proven talent, although still on the cheap but i like the way AFC is operating chamakh was a nice addition and hope cole is a true story

  89. A

TinTin what do you mean big forwards like Drogba? There isn’t a defender in the world who can handle drogba, Vidic gets bullied by him, he’s certainly not the way to judge defenders. Sol would’ve been beaten to a pulp by Drogba too….

I would like some more height and physicality alongside Vermy, but not because of Drogba as a benchmark

  90. Thierry Henry is god

Interesting that Benitez is like the total opposite of Wenger.

“Benitez is expected to accept the offer after he indicated recently that he would struggle to take the club further if the current restrictions of transfer revenue continues.”

He is a pathetic excuse of a manager considering how many players he has bought for stupid prices.

Oh, and btw.. I’m not defending Wenger here, even though it might sound like it.

  91. zeus

    LMAO. The groundsman.

    Gambon

I think it was you that said Fab4 and Goiurcuff were too similar. I disagree. Thats all. Similar but different types slightly, like Xavi and Iniesta.

Maybe for now Gourcuff could be the deeplaying playmaker and do a bit of defensive work. He has that build anyway.

  92. Jaguar

Benitez and Wenger are two sides of the same coin, though Wenger is better.

Both are total failures and losers.

  93. Thierry Henry is god

    Gambon

With the amount of increadible fucking luck needed for that Liverpool side to take it I can’t attribute their CL win to Benitez. Even though he can’t be completely discarded either that factor is still important.

And btw, Benitez never won the FA or the PL so whats the point?
