Vermaelen and Cesc make the EPL team of the year, guess who else does?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Joe Hart! He also kept Birmingham in the game until the unlucky penalty that was despatched by the other debutant in that team, James Milner, whom I would also have by the way.

A quick round up suggests that we are willing to let Rosicky and Gallas go, Denilson and Eduardo too, but that’s an inside rumour, we could be tempted to let Clichy go to Barca in a swap for Bojan and we will try and get Diarra back from Madrid, all of which I doubt, though I would be happy if we got Hart in as well as a defensive midfielder, a centreback and a winger, as we already seem to have Chamakh coming and there’s no way Wenger will splash out on a big name forward.

Now that little lot wouldn’t cost a fortune.

I’m amazed Cesc didn’t at least win young player of the year, but as the players are the ones that vote, you can’t argue. Maybe Cesc will get the writers award. If that hasn’t already happened, I don’t really follow awards as I always believe they are just blowing smoke up already smoke filled arses. A bit like the Oscars and the BBC sports personality of the year.

So it looks like we are going to secure 3rd, which means the players get a rest, the interesting thing is that by the start of next season, all of our players will be fit, including Ramsey, who we unfortunately didn’t win the league for. A fit Arsenal squad in August? Now that’s a first.

So that then leaves the dilemma, the boss has to buy before June as he says the price always goes up during a world cup, I hope he takes around 10 of our young players and gets shot of them, we have way too many kids that will never make it so whats the point in collecting them? We have at least two older players that we should also let go as they are both crocks and will never finish a season, Gallas and Silvestre is who I’m talking about and Almunia is one of those that Wenger should just admit he was wrong on and get rid of. Theo I think should go out on 6 months loan and play in his preferred position, that way we’ll see if he’s got it, and if he hasn’t, time again to admit you can’t always get it right.

I have always believed Theo will become a great, I still do, but maybe he needs to start playing where he wants to and not forced fed on the wing.

We ought to let Djourou take one of the 4 centre back roles and if he gets injured again, then let him go at Christmas, Lansbury and JET should feature and if they don’t show something by Christmas then let them go as well, Simpson and Randall won’t ever feature so sell them, it’s only fair, then we should take a good look at the Barazites of this world and make some tough decisions.

We are not in the business of collecting players, it’s costly and means, we need a clear out, then we need to buy.

Sort of like an end of term school report, fitting really as they are all kids.

Next year we need to be fighting on 4 fronts, that or the management of Arsenal football club will have to admit they have been jerking the fans around and fall on their swords.

Finally I read that Nina couldn’t get Usmanov or Kroenke to buy her shares, so she turned to an Eastern European who’s wealth is somewhere between the other two’s, interesting, why on earth would the Russian or the Yank, not buy her shares? If they want to own Arsenal, they’ll have to buy them eventually, and frankly, when you have what they have, buying at £8,500 a share of £10,500 a share makes no difference whatsoever.

Usmanov could own Arsenal at a stroke and Kroenke would have wasted 4 years, strange isn’t it??? For the record the only person I want running Arsenal is David Dein, and he isn’t in with either of them.

That’s about it for today Grovers, enjoy the sunshine whilst it lasts!

SLightly off topic here but, having just eaten tuna for the first time in my life i can not categorically confirm that its fucking shit and tastes like wet cardboard (i wont reveal how i know what that tastes like though).

  2. BillikenGooner

Since we are talking Metzelder and German defenders, is Mertesacker too injury prone for us? He’s only like 25 or 26, I think.

  3. Stu

Melo signed a new contract with Fiorentina a few weeks before joining Juventus though Leon. Contracts dont mean much anymore.

  4. BillikenGooner

Everyone was saying Sol is slow as dirt and lost his pace and can’t keep up in the premiership… now everyone wants him back.

Speed isn’t everything. I want a stay at home CB that doesn’t feel the need to run upfield every 30 seconds.

If he doesn’t get raped playing for gtheir NT, think he might be alright in the prem.

  5. Stu

Tuna is disgusting choy…its basically cat food.

Seriously though…why would it be nicer if i began eating it earlier?

  6. goonerpress

Stu I should have asked him that. It’s only after I met him that I thought of so many things I could have asked him. I was just caught in the moment lol.

And yes zeus I am being for real. That rumour did cross my mind but I didn’t wanna ask him cos he would have probably took me for a knob. But looking at him he seemed like a really humble guy. Even the way he spoke.

  7. Stu

Bosingwa was a midfielder for most of his career. He only moved to right back shortly before chelsea were after him.

    He’s got some thick unibrow…

  8. BillikenGooner

he can’t be that much slower than Hangeland, and half the fans want him.

either way.. not saying I want him, but thinking about names of guys who aren’t like Verm and Gallas (a bit small and offensive minded at times), that have size and experience, and could possibly come in and be a decent pairing with Verm and/or Djourou.

  9. Stu

Damn it GP! You should have been more aggressive. Should have grabbed him and held him down while you thought of your questions..

  10. Stu

Is cat food expensive? I wouldnt know because i have a dog, proper pet!, not a wierd alien thing that just stared at people.

The cans i have were like 50c for an 80g can…surely thats cheap.

  11. Stu

Ah!!! Another missed opportunity there GP. You should have written “I love Le Grove” on a piece of paper and had a photo taken of you and Vela holding it up!

Where’s you head at ffs GP!

  12. leon

stu thats very true but more player power if these players want to leave then there gone that will depend on how playing time the players get you could be right ade aws perfect example of that i would like to see some rufelessness from wenger

  13. Gooby

    hello all. Good post!

looks like le gaffer is planing to go shopping this summer. hope it is not a lie this time and brings some fucking quqlity at the grove

  14. goonerpress

Fuck I should have Stu. I would have took a picture but didn’t have a camera on me. Using a shit phone at the moment that hasn’t got a camera, so even that wasn’t of use. I really did blow a big chance!

  15. Stu

No point getting upset about it now i suppose GP. Just learn from this and always be prepared (like the boyscouts) ;)

  16. goonerpress

rat boy anywhere near the club*

B.B.K you might aswell suggest Titus Bramble n all

Haha Stu, you ain’t helpin mate! Yeah will make sure I’m prepared for next time. Atleast I know it can happen to me, and at any random time too!

  17. gambon

Its not about pricks, its about toughness.

Lauren/Vieira/Sol/Gilberto/Kolo/DB10 were all tough & physical but not in any way pricks.

  18. gambon

    goonerpress

Great player but lazy journalism, he wont be coming back.

We would be better off going for Toure, bigger & better player.

  19. mike__

just catching up on comments since i last read them and gambon that was funny.

i reckon thats just tabloid rubbish goonerpress, when he first signed for madrid he did a fair few interviews saying he didnt get on with wenger and how he was a good coach for others but couldnt say the same for himself….or words to that effect.

  20. choy

    what about a new RB?

We’ve been linked to that Ajax fella! I personally don’t see it since we’ve got sagna and eboue.. who have been pretty alright.

  21. gambon

I think DeWeil could be an absolute superstar.

Solid defensively (used to be a CB) and very good going forward, looks better than Eboue in that respect.

    Check him out

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFun57oqMZY&hl=en_GB&fs=1&]

  22. goonerpress

I wouldn’t mind a new RB if we get a good offer for Sagna or Eboue. The Ajax fella is Van der Weil, and he knows how to cross the ball, is young and is also a good defender. Would probably come cheap too.

  23. zeus

    GP

No. He would rather win trophies with Barca. His only motivating factor to go Man City would be to get a big pay day.

As for our purchases. I think Wenger realises he has to invest heavily. Not because we need to, because we’ve needed that for years and he couldn’t give a damn. Football is about to get its 2nd death as Man City is about to pull a Chelsea.

With their money, sooner rather than (maybe even next season) later a Mourinho type coach will get it right by bringing in top quality players to the club and will not just be in for CL spots but for the title as well.

Arsenal w/out CL would be unthinkable. At the moment Wenger gets away with his we play elite European footy bla bla bla. When Man City get it right, it will be even harder to do so.

  24. B.B.K.

well the way diarra left id highly doubt he would want to come back,he also said he didn’t learn anything from wenger.

  25. zeus

He does. Just checked his stats. 6 goals this season. Pretty good for a RB.

Eboue is out of contract so you never kno, thpugh I don’t want to see Eboue go. With our injury problem only the absolute crap should e allowed to leave.

We can spare a spot per game for an average player rather than turning to kids when first team players go injured.

  26. gambon

IMO he is the next Dani Alves, he is that good.

But to be honest RB is the very last position we need someone so its unlikely. Having said that if wenger wants to make 4-3-3 work he needs new full backs, and if we could basically exchange Eboue for Van Der Wiel it would be very good business.

  27. Stu

He used to be a CB but wasnt good enough at defending so MVB moved him to right back. He said he models himself on Alves and VP is one of his favourite players.

If we get him then its probably Ebowie going. But apparently is we do get him Juve will line up a big for Sagna.

  28. mike__

they said that about sagna too choy.

btw i didnt know eboue was out of contract? i could of sworn there was talk of him signin a new deal a few months back?

  29. Stu

I dont know who said Sagna could play CB. Maybe in france he did but at 5ft 9 it was never a possibility in the prem.

  30. mike__

the last thing we need IMHo is another player who in the list of his attributes is that he can play in multiple positions.

what we need is some who earn their bread and butter in a set position. gilberto at times played RM and CB when he was needed but his bread & butter was CM.

  31. mike__

yeah according to eboue himself he had 2 more years left on his contract at the start of this season so has one more to go.

”I have two more years at Arsenal.”
from a interview he did last august after the celtic 2nd leg.

  32. gambon

    bbk

His qualities are the exact thing we have missed. He is strong, very tough, and covers the LB well.

Half of the goals we concede seem to come down the LB channel.

  33. mike__

why not do a swap deal with inter? they get sagna and eboue we get maicon then go sign that dutch fella as a back up.

  34. Stu

Well he wasnt bad with Fiorentina. Maybe he is just shit and it took a move to a club with high expectations for people to realise it.

  35. Kevster

Totally with you about Dein. It’s no coincidence that we haven’t won anything since he left. He is Arsenal through and through. For the board it is just about the money. Dein also cared about winning. That’s why Wenger and him were a great team.

  36. Meneurdejeu10

No more jack of all trades masters of none needed in our squad.

    We need specialists.

    GK Craig Gordon
    RB Gregory Van der Wiel
CB David Luiz (Brazilian for Benfica, he is gonna be a monster) MUST BUY
DM Yaya Toure, Diarra or Toulalan (a strong classy player needed in this position)
Wide Forward Bojan Krkic (an epic player in the making)
    CF Chamakh

  37. gambon

-There are FAR better keepers than Gordon

-Luiz is left footed, wenger wont play 2 Lefties next to eachother

    -Agree on Toure or Toulalan

-No way Krkic, he is poor.

  38. A

wouldn’t say bojan is poor by any means gambon but certainly don’t think he’s the player to make a massive difference to us immediately. Would be very happy if we signed him, but he won’t win us the league next season.

not sure i’d want toulalan, though yaya would be amazing, don’t think we’ve got a chance though after what happened with kolo, real pity that.

keeper and centre back i’ve got no idea about, though most people rumoured i really don’t want!

  39. gambon

Just dont think Bojan has lived up to the hype, although he is very young. I also think its a non starter, like most of the rumours out there.

I think there are good keepers out there, Frey, Lloris & Neuer spring to mind, personally Frey would be my choice.

CB is very tough, there just arent any good ones about, and we likely need 2. A back up is a bit easier as that can be someone either young like Kjaer, Sakho or someone at the end of their career like Metzelder.

As for a Gallas replacement i’ve no idea, i would just give Gallas what he wants.

Would still like to sign Hangeland & Cahill and let the 3 of them fight it out foir 2 spots.

  40. Meneurdejeu10

    Bojan is a wonderful talent.

The form of Pedro and some other guy called Messi (the jury is out whether he is world class or not) has restricted his progress.

His signature from Barca will be the biggest robbery since we stole Cesc Fabulous.

  41. ethangunner

I know you can’t judge a talent off youtube videos,
    —————————–
so is that where wenger is fucking up ?? :) ?

  42. sixx pac

I got the name of 4 players coming in. According to a dutch source Arsene will be spending 60 mil. Players are Di Maria, Herrera from zaragosa, David Luiz( fucking fantastic) and Felipe Melo. Plus Chamakh on a free. Looks like he is prepared to stick with Fabianski

  43. David

I hate Di Maria…Id rather Ozil or Hazard. Even Elia..anyone but Di Maria ffs. The boy is so over-rated it isnt funny

  44. sixx pac

thats what im hearing Jaguar but i dont believe it. 60 m from wenger? Apparently the herrera rumour might be true

  45. sixx pac

Wouldnt trade Bendtner for Robben. He is old and his receding hairline wouldnt fit in with our team of pretty boys

  46. David

At least Robben takes shot outside the box. If it aint a tap in Bendy aint shooting.

IF not for Robben’s injury record…hed be perfect. Wenger will tell him to play crab football…he’d tell Wenger to suck his nuts and score a screamer.

  47. luke

We were linked with Lazios keeper, Fernando Muslera. Ive been watching Serie A out of boredom and the fact that our season is essentially over, Muslera is a star in the making. He makes wonder saves, makes easy saves, commands his area, good communication. Either him or Sebastian Frey would be magnificent. Or Lloris.

  48. Geoff

All Wenger is interested in is getting his average age down so if he wins something, he can say he told us so.

I expect Silvestre, Gallas and maybe even Arshavin to go, that will fund bringing in Subotic and someone like Melo, though I would prefer Velosa.

Either way his average age will drop, he’ll fund it by selling Arshavin, then he’ll crow all summer about how much money we make, we’ll do great, then the injuries will begin.

The rumour about Santa Cruz is a good one, he is a crock, a perfect Wenger signing, cheap and injury prone, however, that will screw his average age thing so that’s a non starter.

I fail to see why we had to bribe Cesc to stay when we already bribed him some years before with an 8 year contract, in my book, that’s 2014, why keep upping his money, he can’t go anywhere???

  49. Geoff

Fucking right I do, he already had a contract until 2014, why do we need to pay him more, I’ll have money he’ll be gone next season.

It astonishes me that we keep throwing cash at them, he can’t leave, and if he did it would be for a shedload.

  50. dennisdamenace

Morning, i didn’t post yesterday, although i read most of the posts during the day, and am in the same camp as Franchise and Henry14, its gone way past frustration for me, it’s now anger at the way my club is being run.

I’ve heard some more interesting news, but because of who we’re dealing with hear i no longer believe it.

Just like the list of 13 i was told about last week, i no longer believe that either.

This current Arsenal management is sucking not only the life out of Arsenal, but also my love for the club. I’d happily walk away, but then i remind myself that I AM a Gooner, and i will be around a lot longer than the self serving wankers running my club….

  51. Geoff

We trebled Ade salary after he scored a million goals and had 3 years left on his existing contract, and what happened?

He scored half as many goals, had a shit attitude and left at the end of the season for the same amount we were offered for him before we trebled his salary.

Net result, it cost us a shedload for zip. Great management. And we still haven’t spent the money we got for him.

  52. dennisdamenace

bnsb – And, pray do tell, what was the fucking point of selling him for £25m eh?? What fucking good did that do the team in the long run?? Fuck all. Bulshit fucking bollocks again from Wenger, bigging up Vela as a reason for not spending the money on a top quality replacement for Ade, then nvever using the cunt……….fucking stinks to high heaven.

  53. chippy

    SixPac,
Was the dutch source up last night shhcmoking them northern lights :-)

DDM, Dont be a tease what was the info anything excititng? Let me Guess the club are changing the entrance song from wonder of you to Money Money Money :-)

  54. Maximus

    Well said, Geoff.

He’ll DO anything and SAY anything in the hope that he can one day slam his fist on the table and spew forward: “I TOLD YOU SO.”

Well Basil, I think we’re all gonna be dead; I just hope it ain’t tomorrow.

You fucked up our title-winning chances, you lied to your stinking back teeth.

For me, you will be remembered as the manager who sold its best players, macheted the Invincibles, never defended a League title, never won in Europe, lumbered the club with Denilson, Diaby, Eboue, and co., patently lied about moving to the Emirates and what it would do for our club, dodged shareholder questions like the French dodged the Germans ….

You will never be as good as Ferguson, Mourinho, Guardiola, Capello, to name but a few.

You are a HAS-BEEN who is past their use-by-date.

Get out while you have a skerrick of credibility remaining, at least with your beloved, if sheep-shagging, AKBs.

  55. tonyadamsisgod

See, its fucking articles like this that get me excited even when every ounce of my brain tells me that it just wont happen!!

  56. Maximus

    Geoff

Thanks … my anger is palpable.

    taig

Don’t do it to yourself, buddy … you know the plonker’s telling porkies.

Be under no illusion … under the current administration, he has a JOB FOR LIFe, no matter what the circumstances.

Ergo, he can SAY and DO what he likes without consequences.

    The madman is a SADIST.

  57. tonyadamsisgod

    Maximus – I know mate, I know…… :-(

Right, I’m off out for a couple of hours….someone do a ’1st’ for me!!

    In a bit……

  58. Henry14

‘(Arsenal boss Arsene) Wenger is also a good coach, but the Russian team is better suited to the other three.

‘I can’t imagine Wenger outside of Arsenal. I think it’s impossible. He is more than a coach. He works not only with the team, but also shapes the club.

‘He’s not only responsible for what happens on the pitch on Saturdays and Wednesdays, but for everything else – how the club works, who they buy, virtually what sponsorship contracts are signed and where to go for pre-season training. He conducts everything!’

  59. stonroy

Ahh I smell some anger in the morning, Geoff must be around. Hi all. I am disappointed in Arshavin for what he said. I can’t believe a club as big as ours is going through such an inferiority complex. If we are not his ideal club then he can go, we are Arsenal FC and there are plenty of great players who want to play for us,,,,Buying them is another story though.

  60. Maximus

    Henry14

As in the fable, it shall sooner or later be revealed that Basil the Emperor has no clothes.

You cannot hide the truth of incompetence indefinitely.

He will run out of excuses and ideas ….

But no matter, he will be lauded by the acolytes as a genius.

  61. Henry14

Maximus – reading that…what the fuck is the point of Ivan Gazidis?

What does he do exactly if Wenger is dealing with all this?

Hill-wood doesn’t give a shit, he is happy to let Wenger deal with it all because he is a fucking dinosaur.

None of the other directors are that involved so he’s left to his own devices.

    It’s a joke.

  62. stonroy

Well we can all honestly say that if Wenger doesn’t win a trophy this year he will step down. I think our frustration will be too much and he will be gone.

  63. stonroy

Henry14 you’re right mate. This relationship is not conducive to running a successful football club. The board has to take the power back, they are so fucking afraid.

  64. rob green

Arshavin cant keep his mouth shut!! its not like he is putting in great performances week in week out. The little Russian mug needs to keep him mouth shut!! wenger should fine him!!

  65. Maximus

    Henry14

Yes my friend, and there’s a reason why dinosaurs are dead.

Gazidis’ appointment was ticked off by Basil, let’s not forget that.

GAZIDIS WORKS FOR WENGER, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

Gazidis is a puppet, an aforementioned acolyte.

He is just like Pat Rice; they both take it up the arse.

  66. Henry14

Stonroy – it’s madness. To people like hill-wood arsenal is a day at a country club. he doesn’t contribute anything at all to us.

It’s just not healthy running the club in this way – you read that and you realise that wenger will never let go.

Like Arshavin says – he can’t imagine him anywhere else and clearly rates mourinho, capello and hiddink as much better coach’s.

Of course he is never going to give up £6M a year – he wouldn’t get a job at another club!

He would have been sacked at Real Madrid – he would have actually had some pressure on him – he knows that!

  67. Maximus

    rob green

I feel for Arshavin; just imagine running out with the likes of Diaby and Denilson.

I can, and it depresses me.

    Just ask yourself this question:

Would you go to war with either of these peanuts?

  68. Henry14

The problem for players like Arshavin is that they have it to easy. They are allowed to put in shit performances, run there mouths off etc..etc..

let’s face it like maximus says if your a top quality player would you want to line up with Denilson? Sylvestre?

But at the same time if your going to get paid £90K a week and have no pressure it beats the winning mentality out of you and you end up……….

    Exactly where we are now.

  69. Geoff

One day some one will buy the club, they will inherit a clean balance sheet, then plunge the club into debt.

And that’s how clever our management are, they are costing us success to have someone that doesn’t like football to screw us over.

    How smart is that!
