Well that was about as uninteresting as a game can get, one team comes to defend and hit on the break, the other shows no ambition, and has a side bet that it can get through 90 minutes and only have 3 shots, if there were more I must have missed them.
We are told that Bendtner is the reason we didn’t make a signing in the window and we leave him on the bench, go figure, I can’t! Him and Robin starting may have caused them problems early on, ho-hum. So what happened?

Fabianski had nothing to do , so that was a relief, I thought Sol Campbell was again immense, Song, Nasri and Robin were okay, Theo and Silvestre may as well have not turned up and once again the crossing from the full backs was woeful.
Excitement happened when it got close to the predictable 67 minute substitutions, but this time Wenger threw everybody by making two substitutions at once, I’m sure Mancini thought this was an amazing tactic. An ‘I wasn’t expecting that’ moment.
The down side was Given looks screwed and that could have an impact on the signing we all hoped for in Joe Hart, it won’t because City will sign a Buffon or a Lloris, and anyway, if we are going to sign a keeper it will be a Rami Shaban type, or someone as clueless as Almunia or Fabianski.
So the spuds lost and we drew, with the spuds and the northern chavs having to play each other it guarantees us at least 4th, but all we now need is a point to get third and with Blackburn away and Fulham at home, one would have thought we can get that.
I would love it though if Villa could sneak up and pip them both, that would be sweet.
Still for all of you that may be disappointed with winning nothing this year don’t be, because we won the European balance sheet trophy, the youngest squad trophy, the highest paid average squad trophy and finally the Great mental strength trophy, it may not be what you wanted but take heart that at least our manager got even richer in a recession.

I tend to agree with A on this. Muamba especially is nowhere near good enough for Arsenal.
And as for the rest like Wilshere, the problem with playing him is that we are a team of midgets and to think our saviour will be yet another midget is crazy.
If we had a few more big boys with experience in the starting line up I think he would have had more chances.
Also, Eboue is a different case. Eboue was a decent right back for years before he was pushed into midfield in the 07-08 season. It wasn’t as of he was playing crap at RB and Wenger still persisted with him.

None of those CBs are a loss really. They really just take up space more than do anything else. Gallas, despite being our best defender is consistently missing for a third of the season since he joined. Senderos hasnt played for us since pre season, JD just missed the season through injury and even when he is playing Silvestre rarely adds anything positive.

France because teir league is finally good and now is the time where we should be buying from there. Its pretty similar to the prem too. Pretty physical and set pieces play a bg part (from what little i’ve seen).

hamsik is more of a box to box midfielder who can also play as a deep playmaker. Diaby could be his understudy.

I wouldnt ever recommend buying from Italy because that league is so slow and all about tactics. The Prem and Serie A are almost complete opposites imo.
We need more tenacity & strngth in midfield, not another playmaker. We need an athlete who will track runs and cover 13km per game.

The right place ? We get caught out by quick/ disciplined counter attacks, Vermaelen can track back 60-70 yards pretty quickly, Sagna can, Gallas and even Djourou, Clichy definetly can, we need players from midfield that can do that.

Yeah we get caught on the counter attack because we commit too many players forward. Everyone from midfield forward and usually both fullbacks. How can you expect any team to keep clean sheets with only 2 or 3 players back defending. And its not unusual for one of our CBs to roam forward when we have the ball and be caught out of position when we eventually lose it.
Defenders are supposed to expect the worst and be prepared for if/when something does go wrong. Our defenders seem more concerned with scoring and thats gotta change.
Im not so sure theres actually anywhere for Torres to go right now, so hes stuck at pool.

Man – Its not tactics, I’d say a massive part of it is discipline, thing is we get caught out by the better teams who are far harder to break down so as we commit more and more players forward they make quick incisive breaks against us and score.
Discipline comes with consistency we just get far too many injuries to build up any, so if we had players who could make ground up quickly to cover mistakes we’d be far better off.
Compare the pace at which Flamini, Hleb and Rosicky could recover to players like Song, Denilson and Diaby and theres a difference.

Rosicky and Flamini, before Rosicky’s injury, used to cover small distances or long very quickly and were able to deal with players who were trickier than others.
Hleb wasn’t great defensively, as in putting in challenges, but was clever enough to know how to hold players up.
It’s balance we need, we closed down well yesterday and tracked back well, but that wasn’t even half of our first team out there, so by the time other players come back we have to adjust again.
We need a fit squad and a good pre-season.
Diaby’s pace is deceptive. Looks a languid bloke but his stride is so long that he covers more ground per stide than most.
I would love to get Flamini back as well. And Hleb for that matter. Saves us from being bringing new cunts to learn system and settle bla bla.
That would take us to where we SHOULD have been because the cunts should not have been allowed to leave. Bitches set us back 2 years.

Im sure Flamini would consider coming back. Song, Flamini Cesc. It would be a pretty solid midfield. Flamini was actually a pretty decent footballer. He was equally good with both feet and despite what A says he had good technique and a good touch imo.

I don’t think many of them are injury prone, we just never get the chance to have everyone available at any one point.

Flamini was decent, what stood out though by a mile was his stamina, recovery pace and the defensive work he put in. Still think someone a bit smarter would be better.
