POSITIVE vibes / Wenger on the booze / Sign him… no way!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So we’ve all spent the last few days a little down in the dumps, so I thought this post could be mixed with a little bit more positivity… anyway, lots to cover, lets get cracking!

Happy noises!

Firstly, from the chat coming out the Emirates, it appears that everyone at Arsenal is singing off the same ‘we’ve got cash’ hymn sheet. Wenger has money and he’s not afraid to use it! According to Wenger, there are plenty of players in the market and they can’t all go to the Chelsea, Man U and Man City.

Remember that line just incase he tries to play the, ‘finding top players is hard’ line in August.

So we’ve got money and a manager who seems ready to spend. He made the following comment in this months Arsenal magazine,

‘”I might have to sign Real Madrid’s cast-offs this summer.’

You know what Arsene, that’s a great idea! You built 3 Premier League winning teams around a Milan cast off. I’d be sniffing around Madrid’s players for sure. If they want Cesc, we’ll have Kaka…  If they want to offload Higuain, Gago or any of their other superstars… why wouldn’t we bid if we’re able to financially?

Is Wenger on the booze?

I’m wasn’t quite sure if Wenger had been at Hill-Woods whiskey cabinet before he gave the interview but he claimed the Barcelona are a better team than us because they’ve tasted trophy success. He reckons we’ll see a different Arsenal when we win a trophy.

Arsene, here’s and idea that I believe every Arsenal fan will back me on.

TRY AND WIN ONE OF THE CUPS!

A win is a win is a win! Ferguson started his road to success with an FA Cup, Mourinho did the same with a Carling Cup, George Graham with a 1987 League Cup win. This team needs a kick start… beggars can’t be choosers and please understand Arsene, we’re beggars!

Do the right thing for the fans and treat the FA Cup and the Carling Cup with the respect they deserve.

Even if we did win a trophy, does anyone honestly believe we’d be anywhere near this current Barca team?

What about the players coming through?

This is always a game I’d rather avoid because it’s difficult to predict who Wenger will take under his wing.

My players to watch out for next year for me are as followed:

Eastmond:  A smooth operator in the middle of the park. Pacey, tenacious and hungry for success. Could land himself a few additional games in the middle of the park next year and I think I speak for most when I say I’d rather watch him develop over Denilson.

Wilshere: I’m putting him in this category because I think he’s been very good at Bolton and he has the type of attitude we need in our team. Creative, tough and English. I’d like him to get more field time for us next year. He’s a game changer and he’s had 6 months in the equivalent of football borstal.

Gibbs: Seems to get injured a little too often for my liking but a super talent regardless. He’s like Clichy with crossing skills. Hopefully he’ll challenge his French counterpart for a starting berth next season. Or, if rumours are to be believed, he could take over entirely if the interest from Barca and Real is real

Henderson: I’ve been given the low down on this player and I’ve heard he has a similar playing style to Darren Fletcher… he runs and runs and runs… could be our home grown Flamini. Next year is probably a little early for him but the more grit we can get in the squad, the better.

Chesney: The goalkeeping equivalent of Cesc Fabregas according to some. 19 is incredibly young for a keeper to break through into the first team, however, it has to be noted that Casillas was about 18 when he broke through. Can he take the pressure, or should he be loaned?

The dream…

Maintaining Sol Campbell will be like trying to get the best out of a 50 year old Alfa Romeo… if we can do it, it’ll be more than worth it. The guy still has the pace and his presence will be invaluable.

The Verminator has been a welcome addition to the team this year. His heart and passion has been welcome to the squad and his goals have been a pleasure. It’s like having Martin Keown back in the squad. If we can find a proper full time partner for him and teach him a little more positional discipline, we could have the best defender in the league on our hand by the end of next year. Geoff reckons he’d make a superb defensive midfielder… I’m inclined to agree.

Arshavin will be fully aware that a large percentage of the fan base have grown tiresome of his inadequate performances. He’ll want to prove Wenger wrong when he said 2 years ago he doubted the Russians engine. He’ll have the summer off to rest his foot then he’ll be back to rock our world next season.

Cesc Fabregas will have a blinding world cup and certainly resist the overtures of the Catalans. He’ll cite the fact that the vulgar wages on offer put him off and Lionel Messi’s resemblance to a hobbit would freak him out in the showers. The Spaniard will give us one final season of pure magic before handing over the centre midfield duties to Wilshere, Rambo and Nasri.

Finally, Arsenal will address the shocking injury situation at Arsenal. They’ll work out that training with 80kg back packs before every game tires players and reduce the weight by half. We’ll pick up less injuries next year giving us at least an additional ten points. Combine that with the new world class keeper, 2 centre backs, Chamakh and some steely competition for Song in the middle… Arsenal will mount a serious challenge on 4 fronts!

Next season, we’ll be a different beast… a winning machine if you will!

That is my dream… Arsene, go forth and make it happen!

What’s your Arsenal dream?

Let us know in the comments!

P.S. I caught the Barca – Inter game last night. Mourinho showed what you can do when you use tactics against a superior team. He successfully nullified Barca and came out a 3-1 winner. I was talking tactics on Sunday with a friend and pondered how you can defend in packs and not get exposed… well, Inter proved that you can expose a team playing that tactic with their first goal. Watching Barca last night was like watching Arsenal struggle at Bolton… but you know what, winning isn’t always about style and beauty, it’s about out thinking your opponent.

Just a word on Balotelli. He came on, did very little, fluffed a touch, was jeered… then he went off at the crowd. What a spoilt, petulant, lazy idiot that boy is. He has it all… bar a brain and the right attitude. He’ll never make it if he carries on like that and I certainly wouldn’t want a player at Arsenal who would makes Adebayor look like Theo Walcott attitude wise.

DDM – don’t listen to anyone who has a pop. At this moment in time I think most of us are desperate for a bit of insider gossip to cling onto through these dark depressing few months. Roll on the next season and keep em coming DDM ! :-)

  2. dennisdamenace

Rob – I was given a list of thirteen players that are to be outted for various reasons, but primarily because AW has finally lost faith/patience in them.

However, as i tried to also state the list is a list comprised of players that the manager will now let go, and that i would be gobsmacked if they all found alternative clubs!!

Some people (no names) immediately jumped down my throat either not believing a certain player could be in that list (probably their particular favourite) or the amount, thinking quite narrow mindedly that it means that they will all go atthe same time with immediate effect….

    Frank McLintock

“They could have been improved with spending around £30 million. He could have got Shay Given and Richard Dunne for £12m and a centre-forward for £15m. For a club like Arsenal, that is not an astronomical amount of money.”

  5. Queen of Suburbia

Denilson is the second of four sons born to Jose and Luciene Pereira. Denílson Pereira father, Jose, is a former midfielder at Botafogo in North Brazil. However, Denílson Pereira was forced to quit football in order to support Denílson Pereira family. Once Denílson Pereira family moved to São Paulo, Jose worked as a security guard for 15 years in order to support Denílson Pereira wife and sons, but taught Denílson Pereira children the game Denílson Pereira loved. When Denilson turned 10, Denílson Pereira mother died of a heart condition. Before she died she told Denilson that Denílson Pereira would be a great footballer who would “make Denílson Pereira dad and her very happy”.

Denilson and Denílson Pereira family survived extreme poverty as Denílson Pereira parents struggled to raise Denílson Pereira and Denílson Pereira brothers in the dangerous favelas in São Paulo. Many times, Denílson Pereira and Denílson Pereira brothers could not leave their home because of an ensuing gun fight. Many of Denilson’s childhood friends have since died as they become involved in the drug trade.

@ Rob Green, no one is taking anything away from Mourinho, but you need to take things in perspective and realise that different occasions demand different analysis.

Van Gaal won the UEFA cup and ECL with Ajax in 1993 and 1995 but had to leave the club in 1997 after two years trophyless due to the club’s investment in Amsterdam Arena (fact). The same Van Gaal had to resign at Barcelona with the club president just before Rijkaard took over because the team could not compete with Real Madrid due to the fact that Barcelona was busy building a team we are now seeing (fact). However, the same Van Gaal is about to play his 3rd ECL final match with Bayern Munich because he is now with a team that just evolved from its dark years.

In another light, Pep Guardiola played Inter Milan at the Nou Camp earlier in the season and the game was one dimensional for 90 minutes. Same players, same coaches. But yesterday, Inter deservedly beat the same Barca team (that is football for you).

What i am trying to say is that, it is illogical trying to say Wenger has lost the plot because he decided to stay with Arsenal through this dark years. It takes gut for a man to sacrifice his personal glory for the overall ambition of a team like Arsenal.

Sincerely, do you think a journeyman coach like Mourinho would have stayed with Arsenal on a small budget of the last five years? or Sincerely you believe Wenger wouldnt have won a trophy in the last five years if he had decided to work with a team with abundant cash like Madrid , Inter, Chelsea etc in the last five years?

Have you never thought of it that the trophies dried up with the building of Emirate Stadium and that the team is actually getting better?

Anyway, no matter what you may say, this present team is more respected in Europe than any Arsenal team i have seen in the last 20 years (1 FINAL, I S/F, 2 Q/F in 5 years). Tony Adams, Ian Wright etc would have prefered to play at that level surely(that is why they were never rated in the class of Baresi, Hierro etc (ECL performers) as at then)

  7. sol

DDM – I think that is a fair list, and if true can see exactly why they are on the way out.

I don’t think Wenger wants Gallas to go, but he is out of contract, one of our highest paid players and is prob not getting offered a deal that he is happy with which he can get elsewhere.

Personally I wouldn’t want Diaby to go – as I think he has the potential, but needs a size ’13 right up the ‘arris and to be played from the bench to make his desire and hunger a bit healthier.

Happy with the rest to piss off, so we can start seeing the likes of Eastmond & Wilshere more regularly along with some newbies.

    Preferbly
Joe Hart, Cahill, Sokho, Melo, Chamakh & Villa.

Mmmm… keep dreaming Sol, keep dreaming!!!

  8. zeus

Can’t believe some of you want Balotelli. Who can bring this asshole under control. Zero workrate, a poisonous figure if I’ve ever seen one and he doesn’t show any loyalty or respect. If Mourinho can’t bring him under control, who can do it, Wenger?

    Pffff.

  9. Queen of Suburbia

Nah! I looked it up! I remembered it from an article on him where he said his hero was Falcao the Brazilian ’82 star. He was one of my favourite players too, in fact that Brazil ’82 side was one of the best teams i’ve ever seen.

It also probably explains the pass to the Porto player of the same name that Sol Campbell was complaiing about :-)

  10. GoonerT1m

hope so QOS!!!..fuck they have deep pockets over there anyway, unreal, they better be careful with Arry the twitch on the loose.

  11. Martin Hayes Never Missed...

You’d have thought with all that shooting Denilson would have learnt to run faster!!

  12. Dutchman

    Metzelder free
    Chamakh free
    adler free
    frey 8m

    rodalegga/remy 14m
    hazard 14m

    frey
    sagna-zapata-vermaelen-clichy
    inler-song-fabregas
    arshavin
    RvP-Chamakh

We need another DM!!! A hard worker, that’s what we need!!

  13. dennisdamenace

Sol – Gallas was to be offered a deal, but he’s leaving to go back to France for personal reasons…..

  14. Queen of Suburbia

Does anybody know why Sol took off those few days after the West Ham game where he legged it at half time? I’ve always wondered…Pires said at the time a big worry in his private life?

  15. dennisdamenace

    Balotelli or Hazard??

It’s a no brainer for me, buy Hazard before he becomes a £30m player…….

  16. David

Inler is in the final year of his contract..there’s no way he’ll cost 12m.

Im not sure he’s good enough tbh

  17. finestcuts

We’re not getting shot of Djourou, I just can’t see it.

And of course there would be offers for every player, there are Boltons, Blackburns and Wigans desperate for players, not only that but there are clubs all over the world. All the club need to do is transfer list them.

  18. Arsenal Tom

DDM… late reply sorry mate, had to do some fucking work!!

i gotta say the ones that surprised me were denilson & diaby (love children), rosicky (brings experience), fab2 & JD (age)… the others like silvestre gallas, almunia could be expected a bit but those ones shocked me.

any idea how well known itll be between clubs that they are available?

  19. dennisdamenace

ATom – No idea fella, but if you transfer list anyone you kinda reduce their value (imo) because the buying knows you want them gone, if that makes sense. The way i read it is that if an offer comes in for say Fabianski the club will consider it, whereas this time last year not a chance!

  20. dennisdamenace

I think AW needs to get real with his valuations of his own players, i mean look at what happened to Senderos. Everton we willing to buy him for £2m, AW wanted £8m apparently. Everton said sod off, Sunderland came knocking, agreed £7-8m fee, and then watched him play for Switzerland and subsequently pulled out of the deal completely. We were then left with a player AW no longer wanted, still on the payroll before he was allowed to run his contract down and play for someone else on loan. This aspect of AW’s management must improve…..

  21. Arse&Nose

    ddm, personal reasons = money

remember what sol said about ‘personal reasons’ then he ended up at pompy.

  22. incesc

we’ve been trying to sell senderos for what 2 years now :)

i think almunia, merida, denilson, diaby, djourou, eboue, vela and eduardo would all find clubs easily. Maybe not top top clubs but still. Will they want to go when they have it so good tho?

silvestre and gallas will retire to france and fabianski will get a job as a builder somewhere in london no worries.

  23. GoonerT1m

i cant believe arry the twitch had the balls to go back to pompey to be given the keys to the city or what ever it was…hes got some brass neck, oh and a twitch,!

  24. timao

refreshing to see a generally positive vibe in today’s post – and I’d like to be even more positive and remind everyone that Cesc Fabregsas is a Gunner for life – or rather at least as long as we have Wenger at the helm. He has said so repeatedly and when he talks about going back to Barcelona “one day” he adds, “when I retire”.

We will be stronger than ever next year. Everyone wants Wenger to by two or three players, and pretty much every year he buys two or three playes. So finally, this could be the year it all falls into place!

  25. Arsenal Tom

DDM… i think valuations have always been fucked weather buying or selling mate.

    for me…

    diaby is 8m
    den 6m
    almunia 3m
    fab 1-2m

i cant see how he can see them any different

  26. Stu

I dont think someone would have a mental breakdown at HT and leave, not to be seen or heard from for days, because he wasnt getting enough money.

  27. Arsenal Tom

ill be glad if eddie goes to, for him not for us, poor fuckers never been the same since that cunt taylor clattered him!

    hes needs a fresh start

  28. Stu

I dont think its the injury that has ruined Eduardo. Its gotta be something else because he was still scoring last season when he returned and even at the start of this season he got a few goals.

Maybe all the niggling injuries have been too much for him, or maybe the whole Celtic being cunts thing?

  29. Queen of Suburbia

I think the Celtic thing did for him. It was a disgrace and a total witchunt.

To do it to him of all people when you’ve got Granny Shagger and Pub Brawler giving you weekly examples of worse was flat out sick.

  30. Arsenal Tom

incesc… thats just a rumour them spurs cunts made up to get back at him for fucking them over…

campbells been putting it all over the place for years

  31. Arindam@KOL

It was shocking what happened with Balotelli yesterday.
The guy is a dead cert to leave. The Italians have pushed him over the edge. Racially abusing your own player ?? Not done. Wankers. The Italian lot.

Its a question of who he will go to. A Citeh and his career is ruined . He comes to us and becomes the next Ronaldo ver 1.0

Any deal below 20 mil is a real bargain. This guy has all in his locker bar a good attitude. He needs a father figure like AW to settle down .

PS : I was adamant that we must not buy any more rookies this season. But if we get any/both of Hazard and Balotelli , I will be chuffed to bits.

Both in the “Best Player in the World” category in 2/3 yrs , imo. Balotelli should make a tremendous impact immediately.

  32. incesc

    arsenal tom

i used to work with a spud whose sister lived next door to thierry henry and his missus.

she said campbell was definately gay

    :)

Not that thats a problem obviously

  33. lauren

QoS, went over to your blog and read what you had to say. Good read. And yes, I do feel strongly about the club forcing McLintock to pay for his seat. I saw him play live for us, been supporting the club since the 70s. McLintock means a lot to me as he’s responsible for a lot of great memories I have of Highbury. I’d certainly sign any petition. I’ve just posted on your blog.

  34. melvyn

I loved Frank mcLintok – I was there on 28th April 1970 against Anderlect when Frank picked up the cup and that remains one of my best ever Arsenal expereriences along with 3rd and 8th May 1971 when Frank picked up two more trophies – he is an Arsenal legend.

He spoke at a supper I attended and is a great speaker and was a great leader sadlly Bertie Mee broke up that team far too early.

Hey we agree on something !

  35. Arindam@KOL

    ATom ,
what can you expect of a guy whose own fans racially abuse him ? It must be a living nightmare for him out there.

I also read that Moratti will now let him leave. Its a question of can we afford to let him go to a Manu/Chavs
and become the best player in the league.

He is insanely talented. And AW will for sure be a great calming influence.

  36. Arsenal Tom

arindam… he’s been playing for ages though mate, it isnt like this is the first time! mourinho dropped him from their last CL squads for acting up

  37. zeus

    Incesc

Balotelli can’t even be controlled by Jose, how is Wenger gonna handle him? PLus he is a twat in EVERY SETTING.

  38. Paulinho

I think there is a tendency to overrate talent because of temperament problems. I’ve seen Balotelli a few times and he doesn’t seem anything to write home about.

  39. incesc

jose has an extremely confrontational personality.

One of wengers best traits is his man to man management.

How many players bang on about how much wenger has done for them and how much he is like a father figure…

Ok, drogba loved moaninghole (2 cunts together) but didnt the chelsea players end up getting him sacked as they were fed up with him?

  40. JJ

I also thought about tactics while watching the Inter-Barca game. We really don’t have any tactics other than all out attack. Even our full-backs think this way when all we need is to hang back a little and defend (e.g Wigan). We do not have the ability to switch gears.

This has to come down to Wenger. We need to be more defensively minded in certain situations and the players need to be coached how to do that.

  41. Arsenal Tom

incesc, nah the owner and his cronies got sick or mourinhos attention seeking – signing 3 shit out of contract players to prove a point.

most of the players still love him

  42. Arindam@KOL

Balotelli has all the tools in his locker ? Question is : can he check his temperament ?

Under AW , I’d say YES

  43. zeus

    Arindam

What makes you say yes. Wenger couldn’t even keep Ade in check. If this kid is dealing with Milanistas like that, imagine what he would do to us, fans who love to groan.

I wouldn’t put it past ‘super Mario’ to spit in in Fab4′s face literally speaking.

  44. Stu

Wenger wouldnt want to deal with Balotelli. He sold Bentley because he was a cunt, cashley was a cunt, ade was a cunt etc etc. He might be able to deal with them, who knows, but whether he would want the hassle is the key question. I doubt it. How many cunts are in our team? Everyone in our squad comes across as nice and well mannered…at least in public.

  45. Paulinho

David he was already at Inter though.

I dunno, i’ve seen him on the right a few times and his control is mediocre and he doesn’t make alot of good runs. Quite lazy in fact.

I would be interested to see him in a central role.

Diego Militio is someone I would love on a short term basis.

  46. Arindam@KOL

Zeus , we wont be racially abusing the guy.

Cmon , if we can go “Theo..Theo” to the distinctly average Walcott and hype up Nik as if he was the next Ballon D’ Or winner , this guy will win us over with what he does on the field. He will be a god here in 2yrs.

As far as Ade goes, his attitude issues were over-magnified , imo. He was literally begging AW to keep him when he was sold.

Anyways , you dont have to be a team of best buddies . If he gives us 100% on the field, he wd have done his bit.

  47. choy

I don’t think we need to be taking risks with this Balotelli guy.

We have to buy ready made players, we have enough kids as it is.

  48. zeus

    Arindam

Thats the thing, he doesn’t give a 100% ever. Thats the problem Jose has with him. He thinks he is too good to track back and help. Isn’t that our biggest problem right now, talented players that don’t want to do defensive work.

  49. ritesh

Eastmond? He is even more lightweight than Denilson. A good match against minnows does not make you a world beater.

Wilshere? Has the attitude but is another work in progress.

If you really want good english players, then go out and buy the tried and tested ones….dont start an new english youth policy.

I believe we need another gaffer. This is a brilliant team, they just need the attitude and work ethic.

  50. David

    Paulinho

Agreed Balloteli is quite lazy but i think he’s lazy defensively…he cant be arsed to track back…but i disagree his first touch is ridiculous…he has bags of tricks its embarrassing for a 19 year old.

I think he did let himself down against barca tho

  51. Stu

At least Eastmond isnt slow ritesh. Eastmond was running all over the place against Wigan and got in a few blocks. Denilson might be able to read the game well but he doesnt have the pace to get there in time to stop anyone.

  52. Arindam@KOL

Zeus , he is a target man. He really shudnt be tracking back , other than pressing the CBs.

Its another matter that he plays as a RM/RF for Inter.

  53. zeus

He really shouldn’t be tracking back? Tell that to Barca’s forwards. Thats exactly the kind of attitude that Wenger has too much to our collective detriment.

  54. ritesh

    Stu

Both do not deserve to play in a team fighting to be champions.

We need players in the class of Xabi Alonso

  55. choy

    Eastmond has character..

Example: Ji sung Park at Mancs is not technically world class.. but look at his desire and commitment to every game he plays.

A lot of players at Arsenal lack this quality. They sure are talented but they don’t want to really win the game.

  56. Arindam@KOL

Stu , he has the works – pace , good touch , great shot , finishing that will improve with time , good physique.

Ticks all the boxes , if you ask me.

  57. ritesh

    Choy

I watch the Korean league sometimes and I can tell you the passion and commitment has nothing to envy the PL which is why players like Park will never struggle physically.

You cannot compare Eastmond to Park who is a proven player in different leagues.

We lack commitment maybe because the Manager does not put enough pressure on the team. When Bendtner was a Birmingham, he had more commitment, so something is wrong in that aspect.

  58. Arindam@KOL

I can see what you are getting at , not necessarily a target man like a Davies at Bolton :P . I meant a proper CF by target man.
    My mistake.

  59. Arindam@KOL

He will put the likes of Nik and Theo to shame, if we are lucky enough to get him.

Thats why we wont , I guess. Why kill them , ryt ?

  60. AA23

After all the recent doom and gloom I think we need to take time to laugh and enjoy life. here are some of my favourite things.

Wenger = Wenker. this is quality
Wenger = Basil. absolutely hilarious. Basil Like in Fawlty towers. LOL
Wenger = senile french mug. Brilliant!
Diaby = Diabolical. really clever, this uses part of the players name and makes it into a word that shows he’s a bad player. Genius!
Denilshit (e) = almost as good as the one above. Denilcunt = LOL
Clownmunia = a firm favourite. it implies that Almunia is a circus clown. Maybe a bit too kind! ROFL!
Flappyanski = really funny. he flaps about and his name is Fabianski.
I’m sure there are others but these are my favourites right now.
Its a shame that Ibrahmiovic doesnt play for us but shitly, we could call him
    “Ibrahimoshit”
    “Ibrahimobitch”
    “Fat-an shitmoshit-is-shit”
    “Crap man bitch-ho-shit-prick-tits”.
    Stuff like that
    LOL

  61. David

Its the combination of our season being over trophyless again.

No doubt its a horrible time. If we had had the PL done and dusted by now we’d be all on here celebrating like pervs at an adult film festival

  62. choy

Yep.. nothing about arsenal interesting right now :(

So wish we had won something this season!

Anyways.. Bayern going to win today?

  63. zeus

In related news Barca can’t send in a request for Fab4, cuz they will finish like us, trophyless.

An absolutely mammoth fall from grace.

  64. zeus

    choy

Hell no. But it just goes to show you need luck at the end of the day. I just don’t see how that barca side can improve anymore than it is.

Madrid will win their next 5 games I feel and Barca with the distraction of the CL will drop points this weekend I feel.

Inter to my mind has already knocked them out. Who would they bring in for Pep. Barca aint Real.

  65. Ja_gunner

Thats a really long list of players DDM has got..

In truth I only want to see the back of
    Silvestre, Senderos, Fabianski(maybe loan)

I dont understand Djurou though, maybe he is fedup with his fitness problems.

Eboue should be kept imo but he should only play right back.

Rosicky should stay around for 2 more years, we should gradually pahse him out. Eduardo as well should be gradually phased out in another 2 years if he doesnt regain his clinicalness. BUt they should stay to be squad players though.

Denilson and DIaby should stay and learn from somebody like Yaya or M.Diarra from Madrid.. I hope we get one of them. If not we should go for somebody to compete with them Melo, Sissoko, Inler etc. to keep them on their toes.

As for Vela maybe there is really something to the whole party boy claim I have some ppl with. Wenger must be clearly not happy with something on that level to get rid of him so quickly..

I would personally loan him for a year to Bolton, if anything it was up his selling price if he performs.

Then there is Gallas I wish he would stay 2 more years before he goes back to France…but he if he feels he has to leave..then so be it. We will miss his experience. He got sacked as captain for speaking the truth, maybe Arsene realises now….

As i said I would get rid of Senderos, Silvest , Fabianski Loan:Vela, Wilshere etc.
    and get

    Sebatian Frey

Zapata/Hangeland/Ciani/any big strong CB who can read the game

    Yaya/M.Diarra/Sissoko/Melo/Inler/Matudi etc

    Optional(winger) Hazard

If we get Hazard we keep for him for 6 years hopefully he will win some trophies with us, then when he becomes a 50+ mil player we sell him to Real

  66. Ja_gunner

    Oh yeah plus Chamakh free

This is how I would play next season in terms of formations etc.

    First 11 (4-3-3)
For big games (4-2-3-1), Song and new guy stay back

    …………………Frey…………………….
    Sagna…….NewCB……………Vermalen……Clichy
    ………………..Song………………………
    ……Cesc……………………..New box-boxMF….
    ..Chamakh………..RVP……………..Arshavin

    Second team(4-4-2)

    …………………Almunia……………………
    Eboue…….Djuru……………Sol…..Gibbs/Traore
    Nasri…….Denilson……Diaby…….Rosicky/Hazard
    ………………Bendtner…….Theo/Eddy……….

This squad should be able to cope better imho

Eddy and Bendy need partners so 4-4-2 works for them.
Also Theo needs to be converted to a CF. The goal he scored against Wigan shows that. If Theo runs at the heart of teams defense he will cause monumental problems for tall slow turning Cbs…he less effective against fullbacks because some of them have 80-90% of his speed plus agility

He can only be a supersub in the 4-3-3 or play full games against Burnley type teams….

  67. CedarBayDave

What is this about Arshavin wanting a transfer unless next years kits have more pizzazz? ;-)

Good to see he will be back against City. Hopefully, being back does not mean RVP back… We need them both to start.

  68. choy

Yep agree with the theo analysis… he needs to play as a striker. His pace will be a problem for CB’s.

He’s done his time on the wing.

  69. Stu

Theo still turns inside and backwards to get away from fullbacks. Imagine him against a towering CB…he would shit himself.

  70. goonermichael

    Choy
Technically 98% of premiere league footballers aren’t world class including the mancs and chavs. You don’t need 11 world class players to win the league. Or the world cup for that matter

  71. David

Theo has done well…and his recent performances has been staggering…he’s scoring and assisting…not sure what more you want?

  72. Ja_gunner

David I am just saying that maybe Theo would be better racing through the centre thats all..

I am not saying he is crap, I am simply saying he should not be a winger, he be used straight through the centre playing with a big man like Bendy or Chamakh. They will soak up some the Cbs attention…then he can pounce.

  73. patthegooner

    Arshavin back for City

    Superb, I would go with

Almunia or the Tea Lady if fit

Sagna, Campbell, Shitmancuntvestre or Gunnersaurasrex, Clichy
    Nasri, Song if fit, Rosicky
    Bendtner, RVP, Arshavin

  74. Ja_gunner

Goonermichael I doubt we will get Lloris….Frey is a more reasonable target, I bet Lyon would want 30 mil for Lloris…I mean he is worth alot because he can give more than 10 good years of service.

  75. patthegooner

And if Song is not fit, fuck it lets start with 10 men.

Otherwise Denilson starts which is like playing with 10 men. Lets save the cash on his appearance bonus :)

  76. Stu

David, its just that with his pace Theo should be more troubling that he is. Instead of bursting down the wing he often choses to play a safe pass. If he just took on the fullbacks more often he would probably supply a lot more goals.

  77. David

    Stu

I think its something that he will learn from a player like Arshavin….

Its a common problem in the squad…he just needs to be selfish because he’s too predictable…everyone expects him to pass and he telegraphs it…same with Sagna…and the whole squad…

  78. David

    Gm

You know i cant agree with that. Bendy owes half his goals to walcott…the other half from Arshavin and the odd one from Denilson or Sagna

  79. David

For me Wenger was wrong to start Theo at the Camp Nou.

Persist with Eboue. Absorb the pressure. Let them tire and then hit them on the counter…if that fails then absolutely resort to long ball tactics.

Inter Milan showed us that last night

  80. Ja_gunner

guys somebody on another blog suggested Samir Handanovic for goalkeeper
…he is 6ft 5 and helped Slovenia reach the World cup knocking out Russia…

I bet Arshavin would hate him…but other than that, do you guys know much about him?

  81. zeus

David you are far too easily impressed with Theo.

Bendtner has scored how manygoals now. What more do you want from him?

  82. zeus

Following last night’s theatrics, during which he threw his shirt to the ground and stormed off the field at the full-time whistle after Inter’s 3-1 Champions League victory over Barcelona, Mario Balotelli has insisted he is just misunderstood, and that he is ready to become the best player in the world.

“I think there is difficulty understanding me,” the 19-year-old told Sky Sport 24.

“Eighty per cent of my life is spent far away from the spotlight. If things go wrong you can’t always smile. People might change their mind about me if they saw me with my friends.”

The Italian U-21 international, who has endured a tumultuous relationship with coach Jose Mourinho, reacted angrily to the jeers he received from the Inter fans after being introduced as a substitute last night against Barcelona at the San Siro.

At the final whistle, the youngster tore off his shirt and threw it to the ground, angrily gesticulating in the direction of his critics and then reportedly clashed with team-mate Marco Materazzi in the tunnel.

“I’m fine. I am ready to become the strongest player in the world,” Balotelli added. “It’s been my dream since I was young.”

Apparently he is misunderstood, but its still all good.

  83. Queen of Suburbia

Just a quick note to thank those that have taken the time out to post in support of my campaign to get frank mclintock the respect an arsenal double winner deserves.

  84. Stu

Lyon have a nice away kit havent they. I wouldnt mind us having one like that next season (with Toulalan on the back and Lloris on the keeper one ;) )
