Terminate Almunia’s contract / 35 year old shows more passion than the kids

by & filed under Uncategorized.

I’m disappointed this morning. It’s not the type of disappointment I feel when I switch on Sky Sports News and see two guys presenting. It’s deeper than that. This is a deflated type of disappointment. The final curtain on any hope that this team had of winning a trophy. The harsh bite of reality that this squad isn’t anywhere near good enough to compete… and let me tell you, that bite is feeling red raw this morning.

It’s not often I take calls from Spurs fans after bad results. Last night though, I felt I had to. I had nothing to complain about. Spurs, losing after 120 minutes of football on a boggy Wembley pitch were there for the taking… physically and mentally. Arsenal had 8 days to prepare in the luxury of their Colney training ground. Spurs battled for every single ball last night and defended superbly. How could I complain? I just had to take the ridicule I deserved.

Arsene, I hope you know how that feels. I hope you had 15 texts on your phone this morning from elated Spuds. Last night was the worst night of the season for me and there was no excuse.

Almunia

Sagna Sol Vermaelen Clichy

Nasri Denilson Diaby

Eboue Bendtner Rosicky

The game started brightly. Sol Campbell managed to get on the end of a Nasri corner, Ekkoto blocked chested it down for Gomes.

Spurs worked the ball into the box via Rose, Pav managed to get on the end of his cross but Vermaelen threw himself in the way and blocked Superbly. His defensive header away for the corner was odd to say the least. It went straight back out for another corner.

The same type of cross was fired in again, Almunia came for it, unchallenged, punched it out to the edge of the box where Rose was on call to fire the volley right back past him. That quote I made up from yesterday felt all the more real. The strike was sweet, but it was straight at him and he fluffed it. An appalling goalkeeper. People are talking about a nudge for the second attempt. Sorry, I’m not having it. Almunia sympathisers can leave the building today. Top class keepers catch when unchallenged. Top class keepers are strong enough not to get nudged off the ball. How many times have we seen a pathetic half as*ed attempt by Almunia to save a shot this season? We can all wax lyrical about the Rose strike… but it was no better than the Robin freekick and no better than the Sol header later on.

Almunia must go. I rarely call for heads, but enough is enough.

Our luck didn’t get any better. Vermaelen went off with an ankle injury… just when you thought things couldn’t get worse, on rolled Silvestre. What did he do with his first touch? Yep, missed it.

This was going to be tough… but we had more quality than Spurs.

Rosicky did well to feed Bendtner into the box, his first touch was poor, the ball got stuck under his feet and he dragged a weak shot wide.

Clichy ‘lashed out’ Tubblestone.

Arsenal were knocking the ball around well but there was a lack of final ball and a lack of desire to take on Spurs in the final third.

Eboue was playing well, shame he has no end product. Instead of shooting, he holds onto the ball that second too long. At the highest level, that’s not good enough.

Rosicky beat the last man, looked good for the pass across goal, Kaboul pulled him down. It could have been red, lucky for Spurs, it was a yellow.

Silvestre inexplicably allowed Modric through on goal, Almunia pulled off a great save.

Clichy powered into the box and powered a shot just wide. There’s a guy who knows what playing Spurs means. He knew as well as we did that we looked absolutely clueless in the final third.

The second half started, Defoe played Bale in, Silvestre was in no mans land as were Clichy and Sagna… bang, Bale slots home. Silvestre saw that Bale was unmarked and didn’t bark any orders. Clichy was wildly out of position and Sagna was playing the whole move onside. Shocking.

Sol was giving it some passion. Am I the only one who finds it disgusting that the most passionate player in our team was a 35 year old who has been there and done it all? Like I’ve said before… you can’t teach passion and heart.

Bendtner went close, shaving a Theo through ball just wide.

Denilson came off after a typical performance of anonymity for Robin Van Persie.

At this point, someone informed that Nasri was in fact on the pitch and had been for 70 minutes. Disgraceful.

Pat Rice gave a little shout from the touch line. He could see this was incredibly flat as well.

Van Persie controlled the ball in the box Chested it, acrobatically turned in the air to power a shot at the top corner only for Gomes to save.

Gomes demonstrated what a good keeper can offer with 2 magnificent saves inside 5 minutes from a Robin Freekick and Sol Campbell top corner header. Exceptional.

Robin played in Theo, the England man bundled a cross into the 6 yard area, Bendtner was on hand to put it in!

Arsenal had a chance. Almunia picked up the ball, rolled it to Silvestre who managed to miss every player on the pitch with his pass. That pass summed up his Arsenal career.

The game fizzled out. Spurs celebrated like that win had been responsible for saving the world from Armageddon.

I struggle accept a lack of motivation against United… but when I see it against Spurs, in the bragging rights game of the season. I get really angry.

Arsenal turned it on with ten minutes to go. Not good enough I’m afraid.

Diaby and Nasri were non-existent in the middle of the park.. That’s not good enough.

Silvestre was diabolical once again. That’s not good enough.

We’ve got the worst keeper in the Premiership and he is normally vice captain. That’s not good enough.

In the end, we paid because Wenger didn’t give Arsenal a squad good enough to deal with 2 competitions. There is no other way of looking at it. People will no doubt point to how good our record has been against Spurs in the last ten year… sorry, does it really matter right now?

People are already pointing to our injuries. Ok, lets take a look at this…

Cesc —-> Nasri: Nasri cost us £12million from Marseille and was billed as the second coming of Zidane.

Arshavin —-> Rosicky: 60% of Arsenal fans have moaned about him this year, Rosicky is hardly an inexperienced campaigner.

Gallas —-> Campbell: Sol was our best player by a mile last night.

Vermaelen —-> Silvestre: I’m gonna put it out there… but I’m pretty sure we all knew he was toilet 7 years ago. He hardly lit up the Arsenal team last year, did he? I ranted all summer about how defence was the key battle ground. We didn’t recruit and that’s what happens.

Song —-> Denilson: The same Brazilian with stats more attractive than Megan Fox? The same Brazilian some dubbed as better than Alonso? He’s played over 100 games for us, he’s hardly inexperienced.

RvP —> Bendtner: Nik has had a fabulous run of goal, 9 in 11 I believe? Admittedly we’ve missed Robin, but we’ve known about his absence since Novemeber. If our strikers weren’t good enough, shouldn’t we have bought?

For me, you have a squad in place to deal with injuries. We’ve known for 5 years we over train our players and run them into the ground. Why not build a squad with enough depth to deal with that? Going into a season expecting to have your first team for the whole year is highly negligent and it rarely works when you buy crocks…

What really irritates me is all the triumphant ‘Arsene Knows’ posts we had to read when it was looking good. When people start rolling those out 60metres before the finishing line… you know a shoe lace is going to come undone and we’re going to trip.

I hate this situation we’re in. Not because I demand we win all the trophies in the cabinet each season but because it could have been so different had Wenger stuck his hand in the company coffers and done the obvious.

I hope we’re all agreed now that the changes needed to the squad were obvious? We needed a great goalkeeper, we needed a decent youngish centre back as back up and in all honesty we needed a clinical striker after Robin went out injured. 3 players of experience and big game quality… and we’re there. Almunia cost us momentum at Spurs with a shocking mistake, he cost us 2 points at Birmingham with another error and I think I worked out overall, across the season, he’s probably cost us about 10 points.

Do you only get your marching orders as a keeper if you open your mouth and give it some… you know, like Jens did? He made three errors and he was out the door. Almunia has been dropping clangers all year and he gets made captain when Cesc isn’t about.

Rewarding failure reflects badly on people.

The ineptitude of Diaby and Nasri almost escaped my memory. You know why? Because they were so anonymous. I questioned Nasri’s hunger for Premiership football earlier in the season, he hit some form, but since that Porto game, he’s faded away into obscurity. He doesn’t seem to fancy it, does he? No fight in the chap at all. Last night was his worst game in an Arsenal shirt.

Diaby? For all the promise, he can’t seem to string any sort of consistency together and last night, he reverted back to type. Holding onto the ball too long, passing terribly and going missing in big way. He should be dominating that midfield and driving the team. He’s no kid anymore…he’s not b

Theo Walcott came on… again, I think he’s clueless. I know he set up the Nik B goal, but this guy is earning world class money. He should be more threatening in front of goal, he should be able to go round players with ease. For me, he needs to go out on loan. Jack Wilshere looks twice the player in a Bolton shirt.

The conclusion for me is that this team need an injection of passion. If you can’t raise your game a Premiership push, you don’t deserve to wear the red and white of Arsenal. We bottled it yesterday… if Wenger doesn’t over haul the squad this summer, I’m going to find it very difficult to stomach another season of him.

Ratings:

Almunia: I think I’ve said my peice? At 10:00 the night before, he’s sitting on twitter telling us he’s going to get Theo online. Players can do what they want in their spare time, but it kind of tells a story about how bothered he is about the Spurs game. At fault for the first, terrible kicking. 4

Clichy: Showed a lot of character out on the pitch. He’s not the biggest player, but he has heart. He was partly to blame for the second. However, when you’re in defence and running up and down the pitch, you need leadership. Should Silvestre have screamed at him to pick up Bale? I would have. 7

Vermaelen: Made some good tackles when he was on, should have done better with the initial corner. Out for the season. A great addition to the squad regardless. 6

Campbell: If we had 11 players with the heart this man has, we’d be Champions. Wenger said some players could learn from him. He ain’t wrong. Superb game. 9

Sagna: Defended very well tonight, shame he played Bale onside. 7

Diaby: Poor passing, clueless of his role and annonymous. 4

Nasri: I can’t even comment on his passing becuase he seemed to go missing for the entire game. Very weak and uninterested. 3

Denilson: Hopeless. He’s got the attacking instincts of a dairy cow and the physical presence of a 6 year old. This isn’t a new problem either. Why isn’t he on the weights? He’s got no tenacity for the game. That’ll never change either. He can do a job against poor team, give him a team better than 7th and he’ll struggle. 5

Bendtner: For all the moaning, he hardly had any service last night. He also struggled in the air against King and Dawson. When Robin came on and changed things up, he scored a goal. 6.5

Eboue: Headless chicken… no end product. 6

Rosicky: Played pretty well, held onto the ball, passed accurately, attacked the goal. No long range efforts though. We’ve got very little ‘pull the trigger’ in our team. 7

Subs:

Silvestre: Thank the lord he’s £50k a week contract is expiring. I’m not even going to waste my time typing about him. 3

Theo: Got behind the Spurs defence for the assist. Other than that, pretty clueless. 6

RVP: The magician is back. He is pure quality. If we’d kept him all season, things might have been different. You’ve got to look at his previous though… you’ve got a 1 in 6 chance of him giving you a full season. You can’t take a risk like that unless you’ve got a world class back up. 8

Anyway, rant over… I’m off to my cave in the hills. It has no internet connection, no satellite dish and no Spurs fans.

See you in week.

Adios.

P.S. A big round of applause for the highly intelligent fans from the third world down the road. Your chants bought shame on our league. I wonder how many people were ejected from the ground?

    rob green

I saw that earlier and thought it was a joke.
    its not.
made my fucking day though. Sad, sad little club.

  2. zeus

Even in defeat Spurs give me a laugh. Gonnertalk had a similar one for the 3-0 at the emirates. Classic.

Something about Spurs being gr8 for 43 minutes. The best 43 minutes of the season. haha.

  3. big dave

Don’t slag chamakh he not even pulled a red shirt on yet.

Said earlier in the day we need more English in the team.

  4. Marko

Zeus – I meant Gibbs at left back. I wasn’t switching Gibbs and Sagna.

Sir Henry – I’ve seen plenty of Chamahk. I watch plenty of French Ligue 1 games with Bordeaux. I hope that I am wrong, but his highlight reel is filled with just as many spectacular misses as spectacular goals, but I will say this, he gets himself those chances. Like I say, he’s a good pick-up, but he’s not the efficient killer we need, like a David Villa, Wayne Rooney, Messi or Samuel E’to. Not that we stand a chance at getting anything approaching those players.

  5. Nick the Greek Gooner from Ealing!

Still feeling like shit, give Sulzeer another contract. On the positives RVP is back and when the rest return next season with a few additions in the summer i’m predicting the quadrupole!!! Then them 3 rd world inbreds can choke on that for the next ten years!!

  6. Pat

Chamakh is a very hard worker. We complain about the lack of passion, he has plenty of it.

    Once he joins, we’ll have:

    Cesc
    RVP
    Sol
    Clichy
    Chamakh
    Verm
    Gallas(if he stays)
    Sagna

who will actually bleed and fight for the red and white.

Song is a tough one. Looks disinterested a lot, but I actually believe he is.

  7. incesc

avoided all internet a newspapers like the plague today.

must have been a lot of happy essex boy, van drivers out there.

apologies if you are from essex and drive a white van…

    fuck

  8. Stu

For reasons unknown i read the paper this morning and it was about the spurs fans being fantastic because they all came together to boo and jeer Campbell and thats why they beat us.

Funny, or actualy its really not funny at all, how there was no mention of the thousands of yids all calling Wenger a Paedophile. Hate the man all you want but noone should be subjected to that.

  9. P*ssed off postie!

Mike Everyone is entitled to their opinions but how you can say Almunia is not to blame for the first goal i just don’t know. Almunia himself decided to punch clear when TOTALLY UNCHALLENGED on the edge of the six yard box. Do you think this was the right decision rather than to attempt to catch it when as said was totally unchallenged.

Can you ever imagine Jennings Seaman Schmecial doing the same when unchallenged?

I know the game has changed and the majority of keepers now decide to punch but it still doesnt make it right. If he was being challenged then of course punch clear if you feel you are not going to make it but to punch clear ( although a good punch ) when unchallenged is not good enough in my and i think many other peoples eyes.

  10. Stu

It wasnt just the needless punch…he lost the ball in the first place when he kicked the ball long. Spurs won it back comfortable (like the oppo usually do) and thats how the got their corner. And to concede a shot from 35 yards out with no dip is just disgraceful.

SO to sum up: Almunia cant catch, cant kick, has awful decision making, is far too timid and makes too many individual errors.

  11. gnarleygeorge9

The reason why Rose had a shot from long range is coz he had the confidence to, knowing Almunia’s limitations when the ball comes in above waste height. Almunia is great when the ball is driven in along the ground but he is crap stopping it @ some height. The bloke is a liability.

  12. gnarleygeorge9

If Arsene Wenger can’t see what other managers know about Almunias limitations then, he needs to be told. & obviously Bob Wilson won’t, I’ve heard him give Almunia the benefit of the doubt before.

I tell you its a worry this goal stopping problem. I mean to say, the chavs were crap until Chech came back now they are playing with style.

  13. Samir Nasri Is Infact Andy McNab

    I think we played well.

You know, despite Almunia running away from the ball as Rose hit it too hard, Diaby running into players left, right and centre, thus losing more of his precious braincells.

Oh, then passing the ball on the halfway line in added time. Yes, that will show those Yids whose boss…

Fabregas, Arsh, Song and Gallas must of been huddled round a tv last night thinking “WE HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING ON OUR OWN?!?!?!?!?!?!”

    Jeez.

  14. gnarleygeorge9

Almunia looked like he was swatting at a mozzie that he couldn’t see but heard, & that he thought sounded like a spitfire.

  15. gnarleygeorge9

Anyway, World Cup soon, can’t wait for that. Its a bit of an arse about face with it. Australia is a team full of battlers, good blokes who never give up, & England is a team of convicts, would be convicts, dispised by their supporters. Haven’t times changed in 222 years

  16. koubagooner

hey wenger did u know that , too much proud it blow away ur vision u can,t think anymore , thats why we are in the shit

  17. Doublegooner

Do I care about the World Cup ? NO.

We’ve got a bunch of cunts who I dont like plus another cunt of a ref in Webb.

Bet your house we’ll get players injured !

  18. Doublegooner

    gnarley;

If wengers serious about winning then he shouldstop wasting money signing cunts.

A deep well thought answer huh.

  19. zeus

On hearing TV5 was out for the rest of the season……………………………..
At any moment I expect to hear that Gunnersaurus is out for the rest of the season.

    THEN what will we do?!

    hehe.

  20. P*ssed off postie!

Zeus Thats given me a great idea! What about Campbell and Gunnersaurus as our centre backs for the rest of the season, he has got the height and no doubt more pace than Silvestre.

  21. David

Glory Hunters…yes if your not happy with our season dying a horrible death at the hands of spurs your a Glory Hunter.

    Idiots.

And I agree with Sharkey Sure and his “Wife Beating” Mentality.

  22. David

    Its quite self explanatory.

You created a beautiful baby girl and as she grows up you decide to smash her face in because you claim she’s over achieving..

  23. David

There are people who regardless of what happns if we Never win anything again…will be very very happy with Wenger. For what? I will never know. But there you have it.

Its all about 1 game where we passed the ball 80 times before we scored for them so kuddos.

I personally do not like getting embarrassed in big games.

  24. David

Next time I;ll just ignore you.

Along with the other Wenger prostitutes on the site.

At least do us all a favor and tell him to buy a CB and a striker while your sucking him off ffs.

  25. Martin Hayes Never Missed

AKB – Apologies for the slow response to your comments – I spent Yday tracking whether I will make it back to London today, which clearly I wont be!

You didnt answer the main question – why are you so scared of us changing our manager?

Taking Sol Campbell on a pay as you play deal, not really having the forethought to realise Gallas is likely to get crocked is not being open minded IMO. Its hardly a massive backing of campbell to offer that contract. I think Sol is to be praised for showing AW he should have been offered a proper deal.

His judgement is a joke obviously because he persists with players who repeatedly underperform – and he has an assistant manager who appears to have the energy and passion of a wax work dummy.

AW in 2010 has not built a squad capable of anything. We have won nowt. AW in the previous years did those things – Im interested in going forward with Arsenal. . . and not in what happened in the 1940s or how much money Manure spend. I agree that money doesnt buy instant success but lets once again make the point that we need 3 or 4 seasoned pro’s.

Is Wenger good enough to take us to the next level?

Is he good enough to admit failings in his philosophy and sell some players?

    Im not so sure.

  26. Jon

    Martin,
Only time will tell. Wenger’s in the driving seat and we’re not. Where he decides to go is his decision alone, but surely the signs are too obvious for ignorance now.

Sure the fans aren’t professional managers, but there’s a degree of simple common sense and some degree of analysis put in to have everyone concur that we DO need 3-4 seasoned pros in our team.

It’s only for Wenger to act and not just sit on it now. It’s all him.

  27. Don Cee

As a few people have said above, your assessment of Rosicky’s performance is strange. He was shockingly rubbish! Watch the game again.

Agains as has been said, we have gone backwards and it is painful, but we have gone backwards because of Wenger. He picks the squad and chooses the formation. He let Pires, Viera and Gilberto go, all players that did not want to leave.

Not winning anything in 5 years for a club like Arsenal is NOT acceptable and anyone that thinks it is does not believe Arsenal are a leading club.

The goal stats speak for themselves. When a midfielder (Cesc) is our highest goal scorer it is clear that we have a HUGE problem. Over the last 4 years we have had two decent striker Ade and RVP and that is it. In the same period, only 1 goal getting midfielder – Cesc. Whilst I appreciate everything Mr Wenger has done for the club, over the last 5 years he has got it badly, terribly wrong. If he was in industry he would not have his job!

Why in 5 years has he not purchased a strike force to match the likes of Henry, Pires, Freddie and Dennis? In that mix you had pace, technical ability, huge desire to win and direct play. -Bendtner should not be in our reserves let alone leading our line!
    - Eduardo was always going to struggle after that injury, it is plain stupid to think otherwise.
    - Rosicky – I have never rated him and I have been proved right, utter rubbish.
    - Nasri, technically good but must release the ball sooner and be more direct.
    - Theo – all that needs to be said has been said.
    - RVP – great player but NEVER going to go a whole season injury free.
    - Arsharvin – will get better but has great ability, but lacks strength.
If you agree with this assessment, it is clear that we NEED a better strike force. The guys simply do not know what to do 20 yards outside of the goal. I recall Mr Henry, Mr Wright, Mr Pires et al, all being prepared to shoot from 20 yards. These guys don’t have a clue or the guts to take the risk.

Why did he not bring back Jay Simpson when he started scoring goals at QPR. Surley Jay Simpson would have been better than Vela or Eduardo. At least he is quick and strong if nothing else! Again a poor decision by Mr Wenger.

Diaby – mmmmmm a frustrating player – I agree his concentration is all over the place but has great ability. When playing with Cesc and Song – he looks great because he can play his game. Again Mr Wenger must take blame for this because this is the ONLY season that Diaby has had a central role. The last 4 years he has been played on the left for some strange reason and yesterday aside, he has had the best season since being at Arsenal. This is infact his first season playing in his proper position. Wenger – this is your fault!

Silverstre – Why would a top club by an ageing, past-it defender that you do not know and was rejected by another top team. If he wasn’t good enough for Man U, who do retain older players, why the hell did Wenger think he would be good for Arsenal. Again poor judgement. Why let Kyle Bartley go out on loan and keep Silvestre – strange!

The inefficent possession we so often have is a DIRECT consequence of Wenger’s squad choice and tactics. Without players with pace, you can’t play a fast break or longer ball game – plain fact. Again, all down to Mr Wenger

Sorry for rambling on but i am so annoyed. This is Wenger trying to prove his point and not thinking about the club or the fans. This is so obvious with the way he uses the Carling Cup. For a team that has never tasted success, he should have targeted that trophy, let them understand what winning feels like and then move onto other things. Winning is a mental state that once you enjoy it you don’t ever want to loose. Again, poor judgement from Wenger.

And finally Mike, don’t ever insult Arsenal fans by calling us glory hunters. Of course we are glory hunters we don’t go to games, spend our hard earned money with the hope that we loose. We have tasted success and we like the taste and we want more.. just the attitude our team lacks.

Finally, Sol was awsome. Song will be awsome and Cesc will be off!

  28. Kelvin

Pennant,Upson, lupoli, aladiere etc. These are the names of the young players AW hoped would have light up Arsenal. Well they all had been sold after two to four years. Yet the manager still continues with his policy.
The latest defeat by Spurs is an indication for all of AW’s faith his policy with kid with wc potential aint working.
I am afraid Arsenal could backslide in the coming years if the manager persisits with his policy. Ohe would be vindicated if Arsenal were to win the title.. Frankly the odds on Arsenal winning the title are the same as I becoming boss of Arsenal.

  29. Dangerous Dave

    Hello from Sydney.

terrible passion shown from the guys.
waking up early to watch these games when all these over-paid babies show no heart instead just happy passing the ball around back and fourth, losing possesion, not enough shots from outside =NOT CARING FOR OUR JERSEY!
to reclaim our no1 spot – we need to spend big,it’s about bloody time we did!
employ Sol as an assistant – the man might be passed his prime, but god I love him! he is what an Arsenal player should be with that passion!
it’s time to offload some of our squad players and bring in new blood and get back to being invincible.

    great article.

  30. Matt

I agree mostly with everything you said. Almunia has got to go. There is no two ways about it, he is not world class and never will be and has cost us on more than one occasion. A new keeper is needed as Fabianski can go as well as far as im concerned. He has the potential to pull of one great save and than make a howler. Not good enough.
Nasri I thought was one of our better players actually. To me it seemed as if both he and Rosicky were getting on the ball and trying to make things happen, trying to find that killer pass but no one(Bendtner) was making the runs needed. Nasri always looks quality to me, and I think he will become one of Arsenals most important players over the next couple of years.
As for Rosciky. I love watching him play, mainly I think because of his bad luck with injuries its just nice to see him back. I can’t help but feel though he just can’t play with the rest of the team. He misses the team that was, the team before he got injured. I used to love watching him, hleb, flamini and Farbregas all link up together, playing one twos all over the pitch and making oppenents dizzy. Just feel that Rosicky misses those sort of players and cant get used to the way the rest of the current crop play.
    Still love him though
Finally I think seeing RVP play was perhaps the best thing ever. He oozed class and I cant help but think how different this season would have been with him upfront instead of bentdnder, Again Wenger’s stubborness over his transfer policy cost us. Bentdner was never the player to lead the line and he shouldnt have been. Why after the window is closed does he come out and say things like he went for villa etc. What a cock tease!

  31. incesc

Wigan Athletic pair Hugo Rodallega and Charles N`Zogbia will be playing for Sundays opponents Arsenal next season after a deal has been agreed to see them make the switch once the season is over.

According to a source the deal is worth £22 million to the Latics and both players have already passed medicals at Arsenal, agreed personal terms and been shown around their new place of employment.

This is a massive blow to Wigan supporters at the end of a tough season to see their two most creative players leaving, hopefully the club is acting to replace the pair with quality and to this end Latics General Manager John Benson is in Honduras checking on several players including left sided midfield man Emilio Izaguirre, Oscar Boniek Garcia and Jonny Palacios.

The Latics have only scored 30 league goals so far this season and between them Rodallega and N`Zogbia have 14 of those with Rodallega scoring important goals in 1-0 wins against West Ham, Sunderland, Liverpool and Burnley and the 1-1 draw with Blackburn underlying his importance to the team this season.

incesc, that is surely bollocks. Both of them are avaerage on a good day.

Wenger will belooking in spain/france under 18′s for the solution to the problem(s).

  33. incesc

rodellega is a better alternative to eduardo but yeah it hardly excites me.

im not going to really worry myself this transfer market. We all know the drill by now…

when you look round the net at some of the low expectations of some arsenal fans, whoever takes over and buys arsenal out in the summer is going to be on to such a great thing.

The current board and manager have got so many fans brainwashed that kronk or fatmasnov will have it easy.

    1. They will never have to buy expensive players because arsenal fans have been sucked into thinking we cant compete for Frank Ribery or David Villa. This is despite the highest turnover on matchday in the world, a small manageable mortgage and a manager who makes endless money on selling our best players.

    2. They never have to deliver trophies as a large amount of fans think that top four and getting humiliated in the last stages of the euro cup is a great success. How many times must I hear, “you must have only supported arsenal a couple of weeks as we never did this well in the european cup before wenger…”

    3. Hell they dont even have to ask the manager to get us playing nice football any more, a few sideways passes and most of the fans still think we play like Barcelona despite spending most of the season scraping wins against shit teams in the last minute.

im sick and tired of being nearly there yes we were miss ing song gallas fabregas arshaven ramsey and rvp didnt start but enough is enough we have far to long being the nearly boys of the premiership for me we have no plan b its always the same im from ireland and i dont really have to put up with the cocky undeserving yids but if we had shown a fifth of the passion their players did last nite we would of beaten them the mid fielders we had last nite lacked bedners final ball was terrible and in my opinion and put that with a keeper that has the worst decision making since nick leason we were caught out wenger does not realize what its like for us true fans. this result left me reeling and discusted i hope we can move foward but if he keeps his policy we will end up the nearly boys of europe bullied and constantly against 10 men behind the ball except when playing barca. up the arse reguards Paul Walsh

i hope with all my heart wenger offers campbell a new 1 year contract, yea we all no that he struggles a bit wen
he plays 2 games in a week, but lets face it he’s top draw, the passion he showed wen arsenal went 2-0 down was beautiful, and he was the best player 4 me in that game and deserves a new deal. he’s not gonna play every game but what a player to have as cover, with his experience and will to win, its a no brain’er 4 me, up u gooners!

    @ Tony

Read the rules of engagement at the top, then come back when you’ve got something intelligent to say.

I let most comments on… not when they’re abusive.

That’s why we get so many comments.

  39. Tony

I read the rules and get it….. You can swear all u like, just don’t say it in a way that can be considered not inline with the author or other bloggers. You can have an opinion not get one, as long as your opinion in inline with ours!

I am sorry Pedro but if you read what I had written then you can not honestly say I was abusive. You can not honestly say that I had not used intelligence when considering what I was writing. Yes my opinions are different to yours but surely telling people they should hang their heads in shame for abusing a young hard working player who has been scoring goals is not that offensive.

You are right though you do get a lot of comments but many are from people who just want to rant. I get that and everyone is entitled to have a go but you have to have some balance…. Maybe you just like people agreeing with you and thats fine too just a shame you feel insecure enough as to not let people put accross the other side of the arguement!! Like I say mate leaving comments saying my comments lack intelligence is futile why not “moderate” my harsh words rather than just bin it. Obviously it was more my arguement that you dont like but hey I know I am a good “supporter” of this club!

    @ Tony

Not sure which part of this you thought was acceptable?

I am embarrased to be an Arsenal fan after reading the utter bollocks written by some of you people. Your all clueless. There is not a team on this planet that would not rip our arms off for Wengers services. You all want quick fixes and money money money well your idiots who know shit about football.

I thought it was just spuds who talked crap!!

  41. Pedro

… and again, the ‘insecure’ stuff is a bit childish.

There are plenty of people who disagreed.

Click ctrl + F then type ‘AKB’ in. Read through his comments. He disagreed without the abuse.

You see, people like you hear about Le Grove, make a snap judgement because you’re not allowed on after an abusive comment, then bleat on about how undemocratic we are.

If you made a similar comment at work about something you didn’t like, you’d get the sack.

Why would you think we’d let a comment like that stink out our forum?

You’ve claimed the article made you feel embarrassed, then you’ve said we’re idiots, then you’ve said we know shit about football, finally suggesting we talk crap?

    That’s not on, is it?

  42. Pedro

Still, we all get off on the wrong foot sometimes. If you want to come back on and play by the rules. You’re more than welcome.

  43. Pedro

Oh and can the ‘good supporter’ crap.

I just turned out £2600 on a season ticket, I run a blog that caters to fans 365 days a year, I run a free ticket exchange which give gooners the world over access to games at a fair price and invest a huge amount of time in the club.

  44. Tony

Pedro I have to say after reading that I had not realised quite how incensed I was at the time. Dont think the first one was quite as harsh but I can see that one was very harsh. I do think that many of the people on here were talking crap however, I am also inteligent enough to realise that many of them were upset because of the result against spurs and were probably saying things that in the cold light of day even they know were wrong! Surely anyone calling for Wengers head is a fool. Just wait till spurs, Liverpool, Everton etc are building new stadiums. I bet they dont stay in the top four while paying off massive debt.

I care about the club and I am proud that we do things in thr right way. We are self sufficient and once the debt is gone will be stronger than almost any club financially. The quicker the debt is gone the quicker we can get onto a higher plane financially. Money is not always the answer but I too hope that we get the Goalkeeper and centreback we need as well as the striker we need although I believe that may already be taken care of.

We watch very attractive footbal and yes there are time I leave the Emirates frustrated that we have slaughtered a team 1-1 but I also think we have been unfortunate with many long term injuries.

Finally I nevr said you were not a good supporter. I said I know I was. I do think the word supporter means different things to different people. I do not find slagging off the team “supportive” nor do I like when I hear fans around me at the ground shouting and slagging off players. To suport your team you get behind them.

As for the future I certainly will not let this stop me leaving comments in the future but I will be more controlled in my responses.
