Maybe our players should sit down and talk before they talk!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So Andre Arshavin says we need 4 or 5 stars to allow Arsenal to win silverware but Denilson thinks we’ll win something this year, so if you thought blogland didn’t agree on much, spare a thought for our team!

I have said from the start of the season we were a striker short, we must have been as we sold Ade, if we weren’t then we must have had one too many the season before, and don’t say we had injuries, because we always have injuries, I also said we needed another centre back a DM and a keeper, well that’s 4 of Arshavin’s 5 so we certainly agree on that.

He also said since the season started and we sold Ade and Kolo we have lost Gibbs, Robin and Ramsey, he didn’t mention Johan but he has a point, we are starting to get players back but when we start next season, if they are all fit, then we have a conundrum. And a great excuse to buy no one. However, we still need a centre back a DM a keeper and a forward, he appears to have Chamakh in the bag and Johan will be fit so that leaves a DM and a keeper, we’ll see and we have a long time to speculate, August is 5 months away and no doubt we’ll have to endure Cesc to Barca or now Milan until then.

It was really nice to read Matty Upson bigging up Nikki Bendtner, I think Bendtner will improve as the season goes on and that along with Eduardo will come at the right time. We all seem to forget that Nikki spent a season at Birmingham, so he will want to prove to them they missed out, he also knows the pitch and that will be a big help.

I was kidding about the pitch, but there is something about players returning to previous clubs, add Eduardo to that and who knows, maybe revenge at St Andrews is on the cards, this really would be the time to do that wouldn’t it? Then Barca, followed by a home game against a team we should crush to follow, and all that on the weekend that the Mancs entertain the chavs.

So it’s all coming thick and fast, Birmingham, Barca, Wolves, Barca, wow, what a week!

I thought the chavs were playing last night, but it’s tonight, so we have something to look forward to, I feel for West ham and hope they don’t sack Zola, if they go down, they’ll be straight back, of that I have no doubts, but I hope they don’t go down.

All that chat yesterday about blog stalkers and I only had one on, that proves they read le Grove! I welcomed 12 new bloggers so that was nice, keep ‘em coming, the business end is upon us and it going to be close, the next 10 days will show us where we can go and I’m confident it will be a great end to the season, why? Because I’m mentally strong and I have great belief!

Enjoy tonight and let’s hope Avram get his own back!

Spud Smasher (great name btw buddy!!)

Can’t for the life of me remember any games Denilson won us this season, he started the route at Everton yes, has scored 6(?) goals this season, but won us games?!

  2. Spud Smasher

    thanks Odub,

Hull City away 2-1, i myself went to that game, and at the end he was the only player that wasn’t affraid to take the shot done so and created a goal which won us the game..

  3. RockyPires

Well Spud, pleased to meet ya. First thing I remember Deni doing in that last game was being knocked over whilst in possesion. I’m not killing the lad here but he had being poor all season but did well last weekend, hope it continues but our first choice trio should be Cesc__Song__Diaby with NAsri as replacement for Cesc/Diaby and Deni then.

Just wish he would bulk up and withstand physical abuse better and learn to be more attentive and proactive, simular problems we had with Song in the past but Song coped on alot quicker than Deni.

  4. Odub

    SS,

True his shot could be classed as the assist for NB52′s match winner I’ll give him that, but I honestly dont remember him or us dominating them, despite the numerical advantage.

  5. Spud Smasher

not just the assist for NB52′s goal but the assit that guided arsenal to premier league victory :D , we didn’t dominate them at all was a battle! one red card a few yellow and a player getting stretcherd off was a hard fought game and thankfully we got the 3 points.

  6. choy

    Odub denilson is there technically..

He just gets pushed off the ball far too easily… After a couple of years he could be a pretty handy player!

  7. Odub

    Anywhoo,

Just gone past THOF :salute: which means Kings X is up in a sec.

Have a good one chaps, until next time!

  8. RockyPires

Remember him two years ago playing with Diarra against Wigan and they ate them alive, right then I thought he was a top talent but has not progressed and if anything teams target him at the moment.

  9. Telarse

I’m reassured that Wenger has, at last, found Denilson’s place in midfield pecking order. I believe he was Wenger’s 2nd choice, after Fab, until his recent back injury and has now fallen behind Nasri and Diaby.
I’d like to see Vela replace Arsh on saturday – for both their sakes! Don’t know about Eddy against Brum unless it’s at c/f cos he’s no winger and I’d like Jedward52 to keep gettin the games so our wingers can keep looking for him with their crosses.

On a personal note – Where’s my fracking Le Grove (avec cannon) T-shirt?
One and a half dozen pounds plus half a fiver p&p (I live in uk – albeit forcibly i.e. I’m Irish (of the northern variety).
If memory serves posts in recent days have mentioned Le Grove T-shirts have already been received in the antipodes!
I mean what the fucking fuck!

  10. Pedro

Telarse, muchos apologies for the delay on the black t-shirts… they flew the nest this afternoon and should be with you shortly.

  11. jay4741

the reason the media have printed comments arshavin has ‘suppose’ to have said today, is they are trying to unsettle us, all the media & pundits have been anti-arsenal all season and the thought off us beating the chavs and the mancs to the title is unthinkable to them, just like the barca draw in the champs league according to them were already beaten. But we have a big chance i think we can do both with a bit of luck, BELIVE. COME ON POMPEY SMASH THE CHAVS!

  12. RockyPires

Kanu hatrick Avram some of that

The headlines will read tomorrow as Kanu’s hatrick helps Avram Grants Pompey beat Chelski

  13. SUGA3

well, if we were to win the title, they would all end with a massive egg on their faces – not least Sky for advertising this season with the image on ‘new top 4′…

    ha-fucking-ha

  14. Telarse

    Ta muchly Pedro,
Not really worried, that is to say I know I’ll get it soon, but I have so fucking little to whinge about at the minute because of the way these cunts are playing!

  15. SUGA3

    choy,

Denilson ‘only’ shortcoming is his lack of physical attributes like strength and pace – yes, he has improved in certain areas, however, watching him getting outpaced/outmuscled is, quite frankly, frustrating…

and I like the fella, I really do – I remember him playing odd cup games a few seasons ago and he seemed to have a lot of fight in him…

  16. Mayank

I think Pool can maintain their big four status if the come in 4th next season. The Big four are about consistency.

  17. Stu

I dont think its gonna be a big 4 anymore. Now that City have all that money and are pushing for a CL spot its inevitable that they will make it a big 5, but obviously there will still only be 4 CL spots available.

  18. Stu

Its still hillarious how wrong Phil “big nose” thompson is. Saying its a top 3 and Arsenal have fallen away, yet its his beloved livershit who its happened to.

I mean really, how fucking thick is he? Liverpool may have finished 2nd last season but they sold their player of the season and replaced him with someone who wishes he had Rosickys injury record. Not to mention that Alonso was a DM and Aquilani is an attacking midfielder.

  19. Stu

*my comment about the big 5 obviously depends on whether Liverpool bounce back next season. If they dont then it will still be a big 4, just with City replacing Pool.

  20. SUGA3

    Stu,

no point in making it a ‘Big 5′ then, is there?

it would be more of ‘Big 4+1′, no?

if Pool drop out of the top four (which they will), they will stay out of there for a bit – debt, players leaving, etc.

  21. Ja_Gunner

This is what I do in summer….

    Out

    Silvestre
Fabianski(he needs games to develop and he wont get it at Arsenal)
Senderos(since Wenger has given up on him)

    In

    Forward: Chamakh
    GK: Jaskelinen
It seems Al is playing well now if he keeps that form I would keep him…and bring in some experienced
    competetion…

Those two can keep the spot til Szcezney is ready…

    DM/CB: M. Diarra

    so to some up

    Out: Fabianski, Silvest, Senderos
    In: Chamakh, Jaskelinen, M.Diarra
    Loan: Vela, Merida etc….

Our team is maturing…so all we need is some tweaking…

  22. Big Raddy

If anyone watched the Dippers fall apart on Sunday then they know that L’pool are not Top 4 material anymore. And with a fading Gerrard, no youth coming through, a dodgy manager and an ageing defence they are royally fucked.

Especially as there seems to be no money to spend

Though even if there were, Benitez would blow it on useless lumps like Aquilani, Lucas, Babel, Reira, Maxi, Finnan, Albeloa, etc etc

How embarassing that the Spuds will finish above them!

  23. Stu

It wil be interesting how Wenger deals with the defence over the summer. Campbell (despite his preformances thus far) cant be expected to play every 3 or 4 days because of his age. Silvestre an Senderos are gone and Gallas is yet to sign a contract.

JD should hopefully be back for next season but even if he is I dont have much faith in him.

So going into next season Vermaelen and JD are our only sure things in terms of being here. I would give Gallas an 2 year deal and either keep Sol or buy someone to compete with Gallas for top spot.

    Vermaelen
    Djourou
    Gallas
    Campbell/other
    Song as an emergency.

  24. SFOGooner

Funny how on the same day Sol tries to motivate the youngsters that the title can be won, Arshavin comes up with doubts about it.

I hope arshavin was misquoted. There is a time and place to talk about squad depth, but definitely not before crunch games against birmingham and barca.

If he really said that, maybe it is time to let him go. For a record signing his form varies too much. His finishing superb on one day is woeful the next ..

  25. Stu

SFO, apparently those comments are from when we lost to Chelsea and united. The media just rehashed them and brought them out again to try to unsettle the team. Think nothing of it.

  26. Ja_Gunner

Hopefully Aston Villa win today and Birmingham loses or draws…

This way they will have to give up on any hope of getting 7th spot…..

So hopefully they will have nothing to play for by week’s end….

    Birmingham have 44 from 30
    Villa have 50 from 39

So if Villa win……they go 53 from 30
Hopefully Bham draw at best so 45 from 31

So they should fucking giveup when we play them they will have to settle for 9th spot….

  27. dennisdamenace

I watched the first half, and they were pants, must have something on their minds!! Henry & Alves took a couple of hefty challenges too….

  28. zak

Am i the only one to see the advantage of a spuds win tonight. A free weekend to recover from away to Barca and the spuds play pompey. Then we play them the following midweek. 3 points for us is more important that spuds reaching the fa semi and i’ll take any advantage.

  29. Ja_Gunner

Tottenham winning is better for us…..

So I am cheering for them..but they are fucking up….

Villa win is better for us as well…..but they too are fucking it…

  30. zak

    THis is England

Not winning the cup, just this particular game. In the bigger picture we will gain an advantage when we play them in the league.

  31. dennisdamenace

Fucking ridiculous, a blatant foul on the Pompey player not given, ball breaks forward James runs out to hoof it clear, and completely miss it with an almighty airshot, leaving Drogba to run in behind that fucking mug James and walk it into the net….

  32. This is England

We dont need to have any games postponed, the players should be able to manage two games a week when they have so much to play for.Can you imagine having to put up with those cunts if they won the cup.

  33. dennisdamenace

Up until that gift goal Chelsea looked fucking devoid of ideas, and were playing pedestrian football, fucking typical….

  34. dennisdamenace

Seriously, James should be wearing big fuckoff red clown shoes, a red nose and bright red hair…….fucking cunt.

  35. Pat

Mancs are so fucking lucky. We played the Chavs when they’re at full strength.

Mancs will play them when they’re without Cashley, Ivanovic, Carvalho, Essien,

  36. dennisdamenace

Fucking bottle job ref, Malouda should be off, jumped into a Pompey player while leading with his elbow….

  37. dennisdamenace

Pompey player still down, slow motion showing Malouda taking a sneaky look at the player before he jumped into him, fucking cunt, and fucking cunt ref, he saw it enough to book the cunt, just what does warrant a fucking red card???

  38. This is England

DDM a red card is when somebody falls over in the penalty area with the ball behind him,oh no thats just for us my mistake

  39. dennisdamenace

ANother fucking cunt Chav player elbows a Pompey player in the face, and the useless fucking ref does nothing, this is an absolute joke…..

  40. dennisdamenace

Fucking farcical, actually bollocks to farcical it’s fucking rigged this league, the Chavs should’ve had two players sent off with straight red cards, and the goal should never had happened as the Pompey was blatantly taken out and ignored by the ref immediately prior to them scoring…..

  41. ardentgooner

Anyone think Barca will be tired when they play us.. They play today then away on Sat and us ….. We need to hit them hard ….

  42. angeausarsenal

Dennis there is a website called the realpremierleague that looks at the league if the obvious refereeing mistakes and bias are taken into account. Its scary reading and after the mancs luck on the weekend and todays game its hard not to believe in conspiracies

  43. dennisdamenace

Barca getting quite rattled, Messi’s just been booked for kicking the ball away, the rightback is giving Messi a right rough time….

  44. Ja_Gunner

    Well the Totts have equalised…..

I really dont care about that result anymore….whatever happens we still have to beat them…..

  45. dennisdamenace

So, two Pompey players are in hospital, one with a suspected broken nose the other with a suspected fractured jaw….

  46. Ja_Gunner

Mr.B the reason why most ppl were cheering for the Totts is that if they win…our match with them will be postponed…..so we will have more time to rest….

  47. Ja_Gunner

Well the guy who should have be given red has scored…….Malouda…

He sent the guy off on a stretcher for crying out loud…

  48. goonermichael

hopefully they assualt the mans as well. that would give the ref a dilemma wouldn’t it. I was wrong about the draw btw

  49. Ja_Gunner

    Pavlyunchenko is really on form……

I suggested we loaned in January…..maybe it would not have been a bad signing….

  50. Ja_Gunner

Malouda again…he should even be on the pitch……

Anyway I did not expect Chelsea to drop any points here….but I dont want them to score too much…..

    Goal difference is important…

  51. dennisdamenace

My Pompey/Chav stream is down too, can’t be arsed with it now.

I think we all knew that they would win, but the manner ot it, not one, not two, but THREE ridiculous refereeing decisions have handed this game to the Chav Scum.
