Wenger will see out his contract and I suspect his experiment. Torres anyone?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Arsene Wenger has come out quickly to stop any unwanted speculation about his position with Real Madrid, well done Arsene, that nips it in the bud, it will keep the team focussed when they need it most and it really does show why you would have been nuts to go there last year.

I have a feeling that if Arsene wins the league and/or the ECL this year he may well retire at the end of his contract, ask Cesc to stay one more year, then sell him, give us a shed load of money and retire, project youth done and dusted.

Whilst it has been hugely frustrating as a fan, it has kept us solvent, I have always felt had he met halfway and signed some key players, success would already have been assured, he didn’t but that’s his way. As long as we don’t get taken over and plunged straight into debt it would have worked (financially that is).

Watching Madrid did show the world why spending a gazillion doesn’t win you the ECL overnight, as it also does with the northern and southern chavs, but a few good ‘uns added to our young ‘uns could have won something by now, and if you need proof of that look no further than Rosicky, Gallas, Arshavin and Campbell for steadying the ship.

However, we’ve won nothing yet, I was talking to a manc mate yesterday whilst playing golf, and he thinks we are indeed the real favourites, I agree, but we need to put chump teams like Hull tomorrow away convincingly, and by 5pm tomorrow we’ll find out if we can!

It would give me almost as much pleasure as winning a trophy to see the spiv get relegated, hopefully we can speed him on his way, ha, ha, that would be funny!

I thought Eden Hazard last night looked interesting, however he is small and it was only Liverpool, and aren’t they complete crap now! Maybe a cheeky bid for Torres?I know he gets injured a lot, but who doesn’t at Arsenal and he could interchange with Robin during their fit spells, anyone?

So well done to Arsene Wenger for coming out so quickly, that will help the team a lot and might just say to people like Gallas, if I can do it, so can you!

I’m posting early today Grovers following the debacle of yesterday, have a great Friday, tomorrow will tell us a lot about this team and our chances.

So no one here got access to Arse TV online? It’d be good to know who out of the “doubtfuls” is available for the Hull game.

  2. Pat

Since October only one visiting side has left Hull with all three points and that was the champions Manchester United.

  3. Pat

Hull’s last two home matches have seen them pick up 4 points from matches with both Chelsea and Man City

And Amr Zaki plays there now. Hope we score early and pressure them from the front.

  4. nishanth

Glad that sol is available for tomorrow’s game.Silvestre, denilson and almunia all in one team is a bit too much to take!!

  5. vinnyjones

torres….. now that would be something. wenger should be tooling cesc up to help sign him when they are away at the WC, and if le boss is to be believed about his january interest in villa why not el nino?

  6. choy

The season is coming to a close :(

But I’m really glad we’re still in it, cmon lads.. lets really fight for it!

    Team for morrow

    Almunia

    Lionel Eboue Campbell Verm Clichy
    Diaby Eastmond Nasri
    Theo Nikki B Arsh.

In all probability, Denilson will play instead of Eastmond!

  7. nishanth

Choy-A real pity that denilson will start.I think wenger doesn’t really have any faith in him anymore. If ramsey was available denilson wouldn’t have been anywhere near the first team

  8. chozzer

    Chary,
The press conference on ATVO was from yesterday, so not really full of up-to-date info.
I think he said that Cesc had fuck all chance of playing (0.5% chance), Campbell was remarkably well after Tuesday, Rosicky had a slight groin ( obviously not like Franchise) and Bacary a sore ankle. The latter two he wasn’t worried about as there was still 48 hours to go before the game.
Think that was right, but it’s probably changed today.

  9. Pat

Jimmy bullard is back against us. Quality player imo. Set pieces are good and overall contribution is excellent. I think he’d be a decent squad player for us.

  10. Kreshnik

i’d take a win however it comes for tommorrow … as long as we don’t get any other fuckin injuries.
It’ll be a hard game, but going through all the shit we’ve gone this season and given the importance of this game … everyone needs to step it up, I’m convinced Sol will do a world of good tomorrow if he plays.

  11. Big Raddy

I know Hull has been regularly voted the worst town in the UK and entertainment is sparse, but who goes to a Hull reserve game unless they are family or an agent?

    Are you Bullard’s agent Pat?

  12. ritesh

    Bullard is an overrated shit

I wonder what incident there will be at the game this time…

it is impossible that Tango will not ask his players to get in em faces

  13. Stu

Bullard is a cunt. He was at Fulham, playing very well, even getting into the england squad, and moved to Hull for more money. Since he moved he has had 2 major injuries and hasnt played even 5 consecutive matches. He got exactly what he deserved.

  14. Stu

Liverpool probably wont get 4th now, maybe not even 5th. The second time..or is it third…that they have finished outside the top 4.

  15. Confidentgoner

Am still not convinced we have the required defensive solidity. I think it is down to Song going too far foward, when he should allow Daiby to do that.If we can get the mid to join in defending like they did for the qualifiers, we will get the EPL title

  16. David

Reina isnt going to leave liverpool.

And Wenger will not give Torres his wages.

I think Benitez hasnt treated his star player well…he shouldve let him have his surgery and waited till he recovered. The trying to rush him back thing has completely facked him up.

I fully expect the scousers to go get points off of UTd and Chelsea…theyre going to be very important for the tittle for us.

Im not holding my breathe but i expect the spurs to play their best agains us and then open their asses for our rivals. Cunts.

Hull is a must-win…we’ve had problems in the past before…but if anyone saw how hapless they were against everton we should slice them about left and right…I would play Theo from the off and get that Early goal.

Just thought to throw this comment in there just because….

    Ryan Babel is useless.

  17. ritesh

Fagan back from suspension and Stephen Cunt plays. hmm….I would be more confident with Gallas in there for his pace.. But Campbell can cope too

  18. goonermichael

I met a haidressing mate of mine this morning.

He said he had been asked to go to buckingham palace to cut prince charles’ hair.

I said “you got a permit?”

No he just wants a haircut

  19. SFOGooner

What’s with the spanish waiter touching boots? I am beginning to think, he may give away a lot of penalties with his boot fetish. Esp on one-on-one situations ..

  20. ritesh

    great Sabeel.

who’s the ref for Hull…. The standard of local refs is laughable, and they wont change. The head of refs at the FA asks for others to be educated.

    educated in what….neanderthal refereeing…

  21. luke

So, were definitely getting Chamakh, you could tell by Wenger’s reaction to the question at a press conference. I reckon, were getting another CB too, as Gallas has not signed, Campbell/Silvestre are too old, Djourou will have niggles, leaving us with one ready CB-Vermy. Chamakh, CB, and MAYBE GK, but that is all I can see happening in the summer. I wish Wenger would swap Denilson and Matuidi or something like that but it may disrupt the squad too much for his liking.

  22. Martin Hayes Never Missed

3 points tomorrow but it might be messy.

    3-1 to us…

As a side issue I listened to the podcast from Sky Sports Sunday Supplement show earlier today – one of the reporters who confessed to being a Chelsea fan said that if Arsenal do go on to win the league, we would have won it by ”Default”
It gave me rage . . . why, if, we win it then its because they fkd up…but last season when utd won it wasnt because we fkd up…it was because utd are great, strong, fergies boys etc…BULLSHIT BIAS!

  23. Maciek

If someone is there I have a quick question.
Do You feel we need a new keeper- Adler, Akinfeev or Llloris or would You rather have szczęsny between the sticks in the next season?

  24. Kreshnik

Maciek … IMO it would be more beneficial to Szczesny to not be thrown in the field at this level just yet. Maybe the season after. BUT if another GK is not an option then maybe he comes off age quickly and pulls off a Casillas.

    That would be nice

  25. Maciek

Thanks guys. I think this kid will be special. He has got this extra aura around him.
But I love Igor Akinfeev and would like to have him. He is average on crosses though. I mean coming for crosses.

  26. Stu

Of those 3 keepers Lloris would definately be the most expensive but would be worth every penny. He is brilliant at claiming the ball, excellent at reaction saves and still young enough to be our first choice for 15 years.

However he would surely get in Chesneys way and noone wants that. So someone older, maybe mid 30s as a proper stop gap for Chesney…ALmunia fits the bill in terms of age but he is just too shit unfortunately.

  27. Stu

Maciek, i used to rate Fabianski but after his performances this season and the fact that Wenger goesnt seem to rate him anymore, i dont either.

I wanted him to be number one but he never seems at easy. Always making mistakes because he shits himself. He has talent but not the ability to calm himself down.

  28. Stu

Maybe Milan will win Serie A. Its a long shot but in the league they are just a point behind Inter if they win this weekend.

  29. David

Muntari got a silly yellow for a silly tackle and an even sillier second yellow for raising his hand to block a freekick in the box. Red Card.

Simple Goal kick was mistimed by lucio…Martinez picked the ball behind him Lucio didnt have the pace or strength and Martinez basically ran a circle round him on the goal line….Julio Cesar rushed out..Martinez punched the ball away from him and cut it under his armpit before to kill the game.

Mourinho is serving a touchline suspension and it serves him right for always trying to win by 1 goal.

  30. David

    Maciek

I really hope Bendtner starts scoring now. I will gladly eat humble pie if he can score us to the tittle.

    Thats a fact.

  31. David

I always said Fabianski was shite.

One admirable performance against Wigan Athletic didnt mean anything. He flaps at everything and honestly i really hope he tries some other position apart from goal keeping.

  32. Maciek

Dave, I think it’s time to spend big and bring a quality keeper. Llloris or Adler or Akinfeev.

    My wish list:

    Adler,
    Cahill,
    Sissoko or Toulalan,
    David Villa or Jovetic
If Cesc does leave bring Krasic and play Nasri and Rosicky in his position.

  33. Maciek

Sixx pac. Today against Catania Inter was playing away, and against Chelski they will be also away as well.

  34. David

    Maciek

I would love to spend big and bring in qualitee in every position.

Our left back position is questionable…

DM is still not sorted out..and our CB next season will be in crises.

We would prob get a stop-gap for the GK position till Chesneys is ready…

Id rather get that Kjaer boy so we know we would have a CB pairing for a long long time.

I still maintain we should get a WC striker.

With the kind of chances we create any decent striker will flourish but i want a deadly one.

One that doesnt fuck about at all…when the sexy football isnt happning someone who can create something out of nothing.

Van P does this at-times which is why i miss him badly

  35. Maciek

Yes Dave, and if Wenger fail to bring quality we could be trouble as we all know, spuds and City will spend big. Clichy and Sagna are our problems, but this Van Der Wiel kid loks good and Kolarov from Lazio is good as well( and tall 1.87 m). Taiwo is quality.

Kjaer haven’t seen yet, but many people rate him so he must be good. I respect Your opinion, but Garry Cahill has got PL experience and the big Dane, do’t have it and we lack English blood.

  36. sixx pac

cause we got world class in clichy, pretty good in traore, very promising in Gibbs. We got Pedro out on loan who is pretty decent too. Tom Cruise i’ve seen once and he looked promising too.

  37. Maciek

I would bring Cahill and Zapata( who can play right back and central).

    Adler

    Zapata Cahill Vermy Kolarov

    That looks good.

  38. Stu

Clichy is hardly world class though Sixx pac. He is back on form in the last few weeks but before that he hadnt been at his best in about 2 seasons. Hardly the mark of class.

Traore cant defend and Gibbs is a long way off taking over the left back slot as first choice.

Our only problem with left back imo is that we dont have a defensive option for there.

Like at right back we have Eboue for attacking and Sagna for defending.
But on the left we have 3 of the same. Small(ish), fast and poor at defending.

  39. David

so why was Arsene in for that 22 year old left back that plays in dutch league i forget his name..scored a wonder goal of a freekick?

Clichy is never fit for a season.

Traore is not a good defender. Which is why gibbs is ahead of him in the pecking order.

Gibbs is still very young. Very good going forward but prone to mistakes as well being injured.

    Tom Cruise is slow.

Pedro will not make it..he’s somewhere in Las Vegas doing something unholy that is for sure.

    Maciek

The problem is that Wenger makes life impossible on himself by refusing to spend.

What will happen if we win the league? Do we stick with Denilson? We prob wont buy a keeper and we prob would extend Sol Campbells contract.

  40. David

    Maciek

Id take Zapata over Cahill…we need defenders with alot of speed.

We all were clamoring for Hangeland until we saw how ridiculous shite he is when Fulham actually decide they want to go out and play attacking football which is what Arsenal do 99% of the time

  41. Maciek

Yeah, that’s the question Dave. If we will win it, he won’t buy.

Sometimes I want to kick him in his butt. What a stubborn man.

  42. Samir

Well, IMO we need another “big” CB like Campbell…..
After watching Campbell play it makes it all the more clearer what we have been missing!

If Gallas does leave (Looks likely) then I would want one of Subotic or Fazio…..
    A fast CB (Zapata)
    A decent DM
    Maybe a GK?
    And Chamakh!

  43. David

He won Danish player of the year before he turned 21.
Also won the FIFA young player of the year award.

He kept the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovich and Simao/Nani quiet

  44. Stu

Subotic certainly fits the bil in terms of size but someone that big cant be that fast. Sol is different…dare i say because he is black and generally they are better athletes than white people.

Subotic would be get caught out the same way Hangeland would because we play one of the highest defensive lines in football.

  45. Stu

I dont know. Agger is injured as much as Van Persie. DO we really need another potential starter injured that much.

Plus he is left footed and we already have Vermaelen.

  46. A

No Thanks David! Agger is pants, and couldn’t play with Vermy so pretty pointless!

Subotic fits the bill on paper, (is he quick)? But I’ve only seen one game and he had an absolute mare, though any player has a mare now and then so means nowt.

Saw Kjaer once and Palermo’s defence were an embarrassment, but he didn’t do much wrong, his partner was retarded, and defence as a whole was just so disorganised.

Reckon we’ll go for another Vermaelen though rather than a hyped young player, even if they’re good, because of the price.

  47. David

We played Silvestre with Vermaelen before

Im just saying Agger and Vermaalen together? We would be scoring goals from every position imaginable!

    Except Left back :(

  48. David

We won the game…it was dodgy but we won.

Its always dodgy with our highline anyways…but I agree.

CB position is a must…its even priority over GK imo.

Almunia is bad but I’d play Mannone in goal next season

  49. Pat

No way is Mannone good enough. He had a few decent games and he was awful after that.

Szczesny or a new keeper. I hear that Boruc to bayern Munich is pretty much a done deal.

Celtic need to sell him, they’re having money problems.

  50. David

Mannone is the best option we have in the first team as of now imo…

All of them drop shameful clangers but i was very impressed with the way Mannone came back from that poor showing in the Standard Liege game.

If Almunia or Fabianski was keeping at Fulham we wouldnt be where we are right now.

The west Ham thing is a bit over played if any of our defenders had any bit of awareness about them they would have dealt with that

  51. Jaguar

Hazard is a good player. But he wont solve anyof our woes. Moreover,if we win the league this season, that would be giving Arsene all the license to rest on the laurels for five more years.

  52. Stu

Boruc to Bayern is an odd one. I would have thought they would just make Rensing their first choice, or leave Butt there..is he retiring?

Or even buy Neuer, he was rumoured to be very close to signing for them last summer.

  53. Stu

Mannone didnt really make many mistakes against Liege. He was partially at fault for their first but other than that he didnt have much to do.

West ham was his most noticeable mistake. It was going wide and he hit it right into the path of Cole and they scored…awful keeping.

  54. Pat

    Butt is awful Stu!

Boruc only had 1 bad season, which was last year. You take that out of his career and he has been world class. He was dealing with family/drinking and such last year.

Mannone was 100% at fault against West Ham for their first goal, the important one.

Szczesny is better than Mannone David, and has been for the past 1.5 years, so I don’t know why you’d pick Mannone in front of him…

  55. David

Its awful keeper no excusing that…but both Almunia and Fabianski have put the ball at the back of their own net this season…it doesnt get any worse than that…

Its a crying shame when we have to guess the lesser of 3 evils.

  56. Pat

Now that I think about it, Boruc is currently much better than Neuer. Obviously the German’s mistakes are mostly due to inexperience and not lack of ability.

Akinfeev is awful though, worse than Given imo. Superb reflexes(theres plenty of those though!) and awful with crosses and high balls.

Thats not his biggest weakness though. he almost never catches the ball. Always palms or punches, which often costs his team goals and unneeded pressure.

  57. Maciek

Big Dave. I hear You. I feel the same. Especially with this clown Silvestre as our defender. And don’t forget about Denilson.

  58. luke

If we got Hugo Lloris and a killer replacement for Gallas we would be fucking untouchable IMO. Song is only getting better, as is Diaby, Nasri, Bendtner, Walcott. A solid defense is the key to our success IMO

  59. nishanth

Will be a tough game today.Cunt brown will surely instruct his players to give us a good kicking.Any idea who the referee is?Not that it is going to matter

  60. kelsey

All games are tough in the Pl. I am looking for Nasri to continue his excellent form at home, and translate that to away fixtures.

The more I look at him,he reminds me of a cross between Hleb and Cesc, which isn’t a bad thing.

  61. Micky Did It 89

    Morning all.
Yesterday I mentioned my wish list. Villa, Alonso and a GK. I have had a rethink, and realize that what we need is a hard-as-nails Mr Arsenal at the back for games such as these. I am reminded of a story that I think involved Norman Hunter. He was in the tunnel pre match, and went up to (I think) a flying Liverpool winger and quietly said: “Son, you even think about going past me this afternoon, and I will break your fucking legs”. Said scouser had a very quiet afternoon. Now I see this Mr Arsenal as the love child of Tony Adams, Stuart Pearse and Norman Hunter. In the tunnel he would approach his chosen Northerner and let him know that he goes anywhere near any of our poncy fragile skill merchants and it will be early bath time.
How I miss Adams and Keown.
