Last word on the injury, maybe this will push us over the line?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So now it’s Monday, and in the cold light of day is still makes me feel sick, poor kid, the one player who you thought could walk through walls, I love him, he’ll be back and with luck for the start of the season, good luck son, we are all thinking of you.

So maybe this will be the spur that make the team angry enough to say, NOT AGAIN, and we’ll do it for Aaron, I think we really, really will, the way we finished them off, you could see it in their eyes, sorry Lionel, but I could.

I also think this will be the glue that will keep Cesc here to finish the job, he wouldn’t leave after that and although it is indeed a terrible thing to happen, it may give them that edge, the same edge it took away when Eduardo got hit, maybe the same edge that makes the boys say, enough, now we have a target, now it’s personal.

Next up Burnley, and since they lost the Coyle, they have been in freefall, I think the way we played after conceding a sloppy goal was truly awesome, do that again and we will beat anyone, anytime, bring it on.

A special word for Sol Campbell, he is better than he was when we went unbeaten, he is inspired, as was Rosicky, if we can stay uninjured, we can beat what we have left, we can win the Champions league and we can win the title.

Arsene if you saw the Carling Cup final, I hope you also saw that 92,000 fans at Wembley thought it was worthwhile and next season we give it a go, Rooney acted like he’d won the World Cup and rightly so, no one said that it was a waste of time cup yesterday did they?

On the subject of filthy tackles, I blame the Hanson’s and the English managers, the ones that encourage their thugs to give us a kick and let them know they’re in a game, all that does is encourage dirty tackles, it’s time the EPL stopped treating managers like Brown, Allardyce and Bruce like honest tough men that can’t afford to spend, we can’t either, but we don’t try and take out the opposing team, and when the odd tackle does happen, the media crucify us, like the Gallas tackle against Bolton, where was Shearer when Gallas was getting shite? Where were the ‘he’s a good boy and it was an honest tackle’ comments then?

Time to get tough with the numbnuts from the crap teams and their management ethos of go in hard. What Shawcross did was assault, walking off the pitch crying (read Wrighty7′s take here), showed what a big baby he is, crying in front of millions, he was crying because he got caught, not for a dirty tackle, shame on you, your manager and anyone else that condones it.

I watched Valencia vs Athletico yesterday and they showed how to have a rough game without costing someone their living.

Final word to Arsenal and Aaron Ramsey, get well soon son and be back for next season, the team, well you go and show him how angry you really are and win the league fairly.

Have a great day Grovers, this time I believe we mean business.

“The referee would have looked for an excuse not to send the player off, and that doesn’t matter if it was an Aston Villa player or a Manchester United player,” said Poll. “People will say that is rubbish, as there is nothing about a cup final in the rules but you try to use your common sense and understand the occasion. There was a technicality that allowed him to keep Vidic on and he used it. The player must be heading towards goal, it’s a stupid technicality, but he (Agbonlahor) loses control of the ball and it goes behind him and at the moment he goes down he is heading six or seven yards wide of goal.”

Wow! This guy was allowed to ref a real game.

  2. GGY

how the fuck is any of this wenger’s fault i’ve even heard some pundits suggesting that he should leave england and go to manage in spain.

  3. mark c

QoS – Darre Lewis said he was in favour of what Wenger was saying. He was quoting Martin Samuel.

He was saying Shawcross was aske to “get in their faces” but the tackle he made – he was not in control and so could not stop himself from hurting a fellow pro.

As I was on the M25 – I was 100% behind Mr. Lewis.
Brazil on the otherhand had different views saying that is a man’s game and you cant take that type of tackle out of the game.

Brazil the drunk then made reference to the incident a few weeks ago (try Autumn) when Ridgewell went through the man on Walcott taking him out of action for a number of weeks.

Brazil is a basic bigot – all he can do is drink, shout and crash cars whilst pissed.

  4. gambon

    Heading wide of goal??!!!

He knowcked the ball past Vidic and was about to bury it.

That for me is where refs make the most mistakes. Not sending players off cos its too ealry in the game, giving pens to even previous mistakes, not giving pens if a team are already cruising etc.

As i said a few times, refs are just useless, not biased.

  5. mark c

If you want to see some bad fouls – check out the American female “SOCCER” player on You Tube.

There is more violence in those clips than you will see in the Prem.

  6. leon

i think it very clear there huge difference tough ruged tackles and dangerous and reckness lunges and if look at old fashioned defenders like steve bruce tony adams mertin keown ect these were extremly commited players that got peace of the player when went for challenge but they got the ball first, but what i sawon saturday was extremly reckless and weather he meant injure ramsey is not relevant a 3 match ban is not harsh enough pinishment

  7. gambon

    Pedro

You get far less leg breaks as feet arent involved, but if you are in the pack you get a smack in the face every 10 minutes.

I saw more serious injuries in 4 years playing rugby than the last 18 years playing football.

  8. Maurya

I would say Referees are the ones to blame for most of these injuries. Failing to punish bad tackles, is like encouraging them to do more. I read that, RC should be get sent off against city game itself. Most of the Referees are obsessed with their own thinking and feelings. Instead of basing their decisions on what they see on the pitch.

  9. Arse&Nose

Referees are the problem here, they think they are superstars.

They truly believe they are conductors of an orchestra with 20million viewers worldwide.

  10. Honest Bill

Arse&Nose. I agree, they do have astonishing egos sometimes. Why can’t they just follow the laws of the game objectively. It’s not their job to create balance and it’s certainly not their job to entertain, they just need to enforce the rules

  11. Kreshnik

    great post Geoff,

for some reason to me that felt more intense then the Dudu injury. I thing it was because I was seeing it in front of my eyes all over again.
    Sad and sad.
And more sadness pouring down when hearing the fucked up justifications.
    Fuck em all

  12. Keyser

gambon – It’s part of the game, but when it comes down to punbishments being handed out they have a far better way of dealing with different incidents.

I used to love Rugby, I loved football more, just don’t get how people can go Grrr it’s a mans game, when you’ve got rugby players, UFC fighters and countless other sports, that not only are far harder on you physically but also command more respect.

  13. Micky Did It 89

Can’t stay, as I don’t want to join this debate. So for tomorrow maybe, a chat about Denilson and the rest of the season. I’ve always felt its tough to pick on a player because he’s shite (I would kit up tomorrow), as that’s the managers fault. My very big problem with players is when they pull on the Arsenal kit, and don’t give 100%.
Denilson has been guilty of that, but I am convinced he will for the remaining games after all the emotions of Stoke. With Sol behind him, and Cesc along side, it will be all effort. Like it or not, he will play until Song/Diaby are back, so lets hope for the best.

  14. Honest Bill

Keyser I agree. You’re either a fighter or you’re a footballer. Football is not about hitting each other the hardest.

  15. Maurya

I do watch Basketball once in a while. I do not understand lot of rules. But, refereeing in Basketball is awesome. It is very complex sport to do the referee job. They do awesome job. They make use of every opportunity to make right decisions. Football should move along with the time before it is late.

  16. Arsenal Tom

most refs seem to be attention seekers, they are on the pitch with 22 men far more popular, talented and richer than they are so they do stupid things either consciously or sub-consciously to grab a bit of the lime light, just like how you see them getting all pally and calling rooney ‘wazza’ or john terry ‘JT’ they wanna be part of the footballer gang but deep down know they never will be

  17. SharkeySure

    ” goonermichael Says:

    March 1, 2010 at 16:45
Did I read Martin Samuaels article rights? has shawcross broken Jeffers leg in the past?”

No ofense intend to you GM, but this is the whole fucking point really !!

How on earth can we have all these ‘experts’ telling us what a nice little mummy’s boy Shawcross is, but the ‘analysis’ of his past is nowhere.

Ergo – unless you go digging for the truth yourself, then you are left with the medias blatant spin of the whole situation.

Its a ‘Fucking Disgrace’ – Drogba was right !!

    In a c

  18. Tariq

Honest Bill. If the physioroom website is to be believed, then Diaby should be back March 3rd. Which is Wednesday. Meaning he will be back for Burnley.

  19. chris

If Diaby’s back that gives us a much better chance at Hull especially, he’s really come on this year.

  20. Micky Did It 89

Great news on Diaby. It really is going to be all hands on, for the rest of the season. I agree with you Chris, he has come on, so long as there is a Song to cover his defensive duties.

  21. gambon

I would like to see some more players getting in the gym during the summer.

We already have the technique, i get the feeling if we could buy a few defensive players, bring a defensive coach in, and build our players up physically we could be unstoppable.

Look at what it did for stephen ireland.

  22. GGY

Good news about Diaby, but lets not forget that song is suspended for 2 games, so we still have to rely on Denilson for the next couple of games. Tbh though i’sd prefer Eastmond.

  23. chris

I’d like to see Eastmond home against Burnley and if he does well enough starting against Hull, maybe.

I haven’t given up on Denilson at all (I know a lot of you aren’t convinced) but if Eastmond can get past him and can hold it together in the run-in that’s him this year and Gibbs last year as good backups for the first team and if Wilshere starts to come through properly next year (that must happen surely?)then Project Youth is starting to show signs of working – see how many of the FA Youth Cup team are in the reserves and how well they’re doing recently, too)

  24. Maurya

    Chris,
JET is also going great. Along with the technical attributes we expect from every Arsenal young players, he got great physical attributes. Technique without Physical ability is useless in EPL.

  25. chris

Thanks, Maurya, I’ve watched it already but yes, that’s the sort of result I’m talking about.

I’ve never been too sure about JET though, he was the skipper last year and he got a lot of key goals at the end of games in the cup run but he’s still got a worrying laziness about him sometimes.

The way I see it no-one’s that close to genuine first tream but second level competition’s getting white hot and uys like Vela who I’d have bet on to be first team by now are going to have to really scrap for places in the bench soon (that’s even if Merida goes)

Also Szczesny’s got a chance to go past everyone any time soon, as well?

  26. SongtheGreat

shawcross to me..is dead meat….really cant understand why anyone will stand up for that feck..look back at his record,, the shithead should quite simply be banned for life….

or does that cry me a river shit work on you folks…

  27. Stu

Song, – “or does that cry me a river shit work on you folks” –
do you think you are somewhere else? Everyone here hates Shawcross for what he did and we all realise his tears were fake (if there were even any).

  28. Stu

Lots of pundits, or whatever they fucking are, are saying shit like Arsenals team is so small and lightweight that they are more likely to get a bone broken.
BULLSHIT! As if arsenal have the only small players in the whole league. Every team has small players but they dont get targeted as soft and noone lunges in on them to “get in their faces”.

  29. SongtheGreat

Stu ..you wish…today on Le Grove…there has been several attempts on describing the brutal attack as not intended and not that bad…

so really the question is where the feck have you been….

  30. tiny

fuckin stan collymore coming on air on talksport now to defend his mindless piece of journalism in the daily star today about the shawcross tackle. he said wenger was out of order and should get out of the premiership and go la liga if he doesnt like tackles….i reckon some arsenal fans will be ringing him giving him some stick and telling him his comments were totally out of order.

  31. Stu

Oh excuse me for now being here all day long..

And clearly Shawcross didnt mean to go that far and break Ramseys leg. Noone is that much of a cunt to intentionally maim someone to that extent.

  32. Stu

That prick Colleymore should be slapped. He thinks he matters because some retard was stupid enough to give him his own page in a paper.

Saying Wenger should manage in a different league is he doesnt like the physicality. How about someone breaks his leg and see if he thinks its fair.

  33. SongtheGreat

Stu if ure going to jump at someones throat…i reckon youre obliged to get it right…

and in my opinion it was a tackle intended to do like fuller said rough em up…

besides shawcross has a long history of doing just that hurt players…not only Arsenal players..

and well your excused not that it matters eh..?

  34. Honest Bill

It is unlikely that Shawcross thought “Let’s break this little cunt’s leg” but the point is that he doesn’t give a shit if he does or not. He has a proven track record of being a dirty cunt, and this three match ban will not stop him from being such in the future

  35. Stu

Whos throat did i jump at again?

Roughing us up and breaking our legs are hardly the same thing are they.

When Fuller said that he probably meant “get i our faces” and stop us playing by rotational fouling etc..not breaking the players legs. To think any player goes into a match looking to break someones leg, a kids no less, then you’re wrong.

  36. Stu

    Agreed Bill.

Shawcross probably went into the tackle intending to win the ball and send Ramsey flying in the process but theres no way he saw Ramsey and though “im gonna break that kids leg”.

  37. SongtheGreat

Stu if your actions in the past had left players severly injured many times..wouldnt you just might think that something was wrong with the way you tackled..or would you just stand there and say oops..how did that happen…

  38. Stu

Yes STG, Shawcross obviously meant to get Ramsey but i dont want to believe that his intention was to snap Ramseys leg.

I hope Shawcross was actually crying and that he never recovers mentally from what he did and his career falls apart. Its the least he deserves for what he did, he could have cost Ramsey his career.

  39. leon

stu i have no dought the injury was not intentional but it was an extremly reckless clumsy and looked more like lunge for me it looked extremly late too he did same with ade another clumsy chalenge and did evon get the ball at all so just because he did mean by no mean should condone such reckless lunges which has done on several occations and its just luck he has not injured more players.

when it to the title race chelsea are not that mentaly tough to me of 3 teams they have by far best squad when they beat use the first i believe 15 oint lead i may be wroung there and they messed that up they beat use again and they wasted there lead,i feel this team has been fouled the second most in prem this team is very young but have kept comming back and all the games we have left i feel have good chance of winning including man city and totenham

  40. Honest Bill

But people must understand that it is Shawcross’ job to do that. He’s only doing what he’s instructed to do

  41. SongtheGreat

    Honest Bill..

fair point..but does that rob you of taking responsibility for your actions…??..i think not

  42. Honest Bill

Not entirely STG, i agree. But let’s be fair, put yourself in his position. What would you do? Go to Pulis and say “Sorry boss but that’s unethical, can’t i just try to play like Messi” ?

He’d quickly lose his place and his career would be over. The problem, i feel, lies in the attitudes in English football in general

  43. gambon

    Stu

Stan Collymore did suffer a horrific leg break once while at Leicester I think so you cant say he doesnt know what hes talking about.

  44. reggie 57

Having watched the shawcross tackle again im sure he never meant to snap Rambo’s leg,but he meant to leave his mark as Rambo was starting to run the game and you can tell he was getting pissed off chasing shadows. Thats why thugs like him and his shit manager have no place in the EPL and the quicker them slags get relegated the better the EPL will be….

  45. Stu

SO you think Collymore is right and Wenger should go to a league where his players wont get targeted and have their legs broken. Fair enough.

  46. Stu

Reggie, unfortunately this is a results business and the shitkickers will always be in the league as long as long ball is effective and kicking the talented players to stop them winning is allowed.

  47. ChocolateGooner

I’m with Franchise on this, I can’t remember how many times I’ve complained about the size and grit of the current squad. At the Grove I often shout “man up” when our boys go to ground too easily or bounce off opposing players in shoulder challenge. I say we fight the fight first and that buys us the right to play Wenger ball.

  48. Bradys right foot

Evening gooners a new low for even talk shite as Collywhore continues on his anti arsenal tirade. The shite he spouts just beggars belief.

  49. reggie 57

I would like to ask colly cunt if he would pay to watch a shit kicker like shawcross or someone with the skill and vision of Ramsey as he keeps saying a crunching tackle is part and parcel of the great BRITISH game, if thats his opinion he can fucking keep it the no mark!!

  50. Honest Bill

Pedro I agree the initial question is completely different from what they then go on to ask about Wenger’s opinion

  51. paul

Talkshite get money from people phoning in,thats why People like Collymore and Durham say contraversial things.

  52. big dave

I don’t like that Stewart Robson, another cunt to add to the list, what has he against us, why do the club employ him? sack the twat.

Merse/Charlie talk sense when they talk about Arsenal FC

  53. paul

Talkshite also spout on about people who run clubs should be right and proper people with no skeletons in the cupboard.Like Mr Collymore.

  54. big dave

On sky saying that wenger is wrong about the tackle and that we are not targetted etc, best to watch it on sky, never liked the guy or his views tbh

  55. Samir

Carlos Tevez asked his wife last week.. ”Why doesn’t our baby look like me?” She replied ”Give me a chance, I’ve only just put the kettle on!!”

  56. ThaatArsenalGuy

zeus thats fucking brilliant, makes u want to drive to stoke and punch someone in the face. CMON ARSENAL

  57. zeus

    @ ThaatArsenalGuy

I know. They should play this video before every game for the remainder of the season.

  58. Coadsi

this is a season i will remember for a number of reasons. Cesc coming on as a sub and gave a legendary performance against villa, battling from 2 goals dowm to win by 2 clear goals vs bolton to go top, the team lifting their game after the ramsey incident vs stoke………… any other inspiring memeories? nice vid zeus

  59. Goonerman

    Thanks Zeus for the link

A further idea is displaying in front of TV cameras 100 – 200 banners showing: ‘PULIS ANTI FOOTBALL’ at the Burnley match. I consider Pulis more at fault than Shawcross for his brutal coaching methods. I blame his coaching for Shawcross’ actions in all respects.

    I’ve posted this elsewhere also.

  60. big dave

cometh the hour cometh the man cesc, that penalty was so important, I coudln’t even watch let alone step up and take it.

  61. leon

i have seen the way both chelsea and manu are playing and thee is no way either are going go rest of season unbeaton they are going drop points,i dont think chelsea are that strong they have the bigest squad and have very little injurys in comprason to use and manu and they should well ahead in the legeue and there not, right now they major problems with there keeper terry is playing very poorly and have alot hard games left as do manu but they have some difficult games as well and they have hope roony stays fit,we should be getting back gallas diaby and aa very soon and paricualy having diaby and aa will be huge advantege

  62. sixx pac

thats far from the worst ive seen today. Paul Walker actually wants Wenger to apologize to Ryan Shawcross

  63. Confidentgoner

    Grovers,

We gotta move on. Rambo, will recover and play again. Now that Song will miss two matches, guess Eastmonds time has come? or will it be Dennilson?

  64. Zorr0

Here we go, as predictable as ever, out come the excuses!

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1254694/Crunch-time-Aaron-Ramsey-s-broken-leg-wake-game-pain.html?ITO=1490

Not being funny, but if I was Cesc seeing that challenge and then reading how acceptable it is to our game I would be on the first plane to Spain.

Everything about the game in this country is wrong and I am feeling really sick about the whole situation of how far the EPL has degenerated, both on and off the field from what football is supposed to be about!

    Kicking people is fine.
Players are mostly thick chav scumbags.
Clubs can be bought and sold by any Tom, Roman or Sheik.
The fans become even more distant from the players and the clubs they support.

  65. Zorr0

“I’ve hurt opponents, seen them limp off and felt a sense of satisfaction! I’d be a liar if I didn’t admit to wanting to knock an opponent up in the air.”

Confident, youve made my day :)

  67. ethangunner

    fuck !

i when out the back yard this morning and someone has rounded up one of my chickens !

yes 1 of my chicken’s named woody ! has now a broken leg ! it just happened only 30 minutes ago ..

and no shawcross in sight !

  68. ethangunner

i obviously take immersing myself in it…

    too another level :)

is this broken leg week ?

shit …. still 4 days to go , maybe i should
    pre – order a wheel chair :)

  69. nishanth

So redknaap and townsend think cesc should have been sent off against stoke. Also this current arsenal dish it out as they take it.I have heard it all now.Apart from the gallas challenge(which i think was a mistimes challenge and you can see gallas did try to withdraw at the last moment) is there anyything they can mention?Last really bad tackle that i can remember made by an arsenal was diaby against bolton in 07-08 season and he did get sent off for that!

  70. Kreshnik

everyone backing up Showcross eh … and feeling sooo sorry for the poor lad, and saying next to nothing about the kid in hospital with his leg split in too.

    WOW :( (((((((((((

  71. Kreshnik

    nishanth,

All the Arsenal fans I know here … are completely and utterly shocked by this fucked up reaction. I’m really trying to find any sorts of explanation, cuz i really don’t believe in conspiracies and also the mentality thing does not convince me. But this is the most saddening thing to experience. The break was one thing, but this is completely over the limit.

  72. nishanth

Honestly i am not really surprised with the reaction.I bet they are just waiting for an arsenal player to commit a bad tackle so that they all can have a pop at wenger. The guy has lost 3 players in 4 years due to nasty tackles. What kind of reaction were these cunts expecting?

  73. AA23

I hope Wenger and the team completely lock the media out now and do all of their talking on the pitch.
None of them should say another word about this or anything else until the end of the season.
Not one single word to any media at all.
    Fuck them.

  74. ethangunner

    yes shawcross isnt responsible !

he only kicked ramsey 12 inches up the middle of his lower leg …

last time i checked a football stood about 6 inches off the floor so why put in a challenge thats double the height ! and your kicking straight thru the ball …

clumsy as fuck! , violent as fuck !..

and if your a professional you need to know when to pull in and when to pull out of a challenge !!!

In karate when your told to do fatal blows
you focus on a point 12 inches past the head (target) and punch to that point ..

the challenge was WAY too heavy and showed no focus at all , unless he was practicing a leg sweep !

then id give him prop’s !
because it was more reminiscent of a leg sweep than a football tackle ..

stoke should either face prosecution or be fined – banned .. something !

make them pricks pay for his hospital costs and
    rehab .. no! even better
…. make shawcross pay for it !

the cunt might think twice about going in heavy again if his wages are docked !

  75. ethangunner

    ————————
with you 100% on that stance AA

  76. zeus

You guys should stop calling this ‘challenge’ a ‘tackle’. IT WAS AN ASSAULT. End off.

Talk of his innocence and ‘he is not that kind of player’ is the kind of bullshit that only serves to poison the incident at hand, which serves the English purpose well.

Fact 1. This was no 50-50 challenge. 50-50 to my mind means that both players arrive at the ball the same time. By the time this asshole reached the ball Ramsey had passed it already. Watch the footage.

Fact 2. No attempt was made on his part to pull out even though the ball was passed. He got ‘stuck in’ with his ASSAULT with no concern for the potential damage he could have caused.

So he lives with his mom, is that what we are going to start using to decide if players aren’t guilty of atrocities as these. Then they wonder why, at least on a national level, ALL other footballing powerhouses look down on the English.

  77. ethangunner

zeus it was a foot sweep ..
your right it wasnt a tackle .

a tackle is something you do to a BALL not a shin!

a foot sweep is something you do to a leg not a ball :)

  78. ethangunner

    Maurya

humanity is a luxury he only affords his own players ..

but every manager is the same on that count .
not point in bring in 3rd parties like that haggis eating prick .. he will only stir the fuckin pot because he knows Arsenal crumble when the media attacks wengers boys , i expect him mancini and who ever the fuck else wants to put his boots in ..

whats done, is done .. not point in laboring the fact .. besides this is football and we are the unluckiest team in the league for injuries …

  79. ethangunner

wenger just best moving on , filing his complaint’s in private and try and focus on winning the league for the lad so it wasnt in vain !

  80. ethangunner

    humanity…

something the opposition manager tried to impress
on wenger in the post match comments , he doesnt know shawcross like him and he has no history of
    being violent ..

1stly everybody starts somewhere , and secondly so that makes it ok to unload a tackle/foot sweep on rambo ?

just because he has no history of it ???

i have no history of broad daylight murder either :) ….
but it doesn’t make it any anymore justifiable if i blow someones head off in the street for the 1st time !

and if i catch the fucker who broke my chickens leg this morning i will find out soon enough :)

  81. Jon

Well Ethan, what’s done is done. I think it is now vital that we walk with the BPL trophy (At least!). We may be unlucky when it comes to injuries, but after what has happened; I wanna believe in Wenger when it comes to our squads mental strength now.

Ramsey, our club and the fans deserve to win something this season. We’ve put up with so much already. If we win either the CL or the BPL, I think my life would extend for another, say, 5 years?
