I know how to deal with the Delap throw…

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Keep the ball, go up the other end and score more than they do, this Delap throw really gets me, I would be more worried about facing Torres, or Rooney, suddenly the footballing world is worried about an average player being able to throw the ball into the area.

I thought having a 6’4″ keeper took care of that, or maybe a few 6’3″ defenders, move on boys and stick a few in their goal area then convert them, fight fire with fire. Maybe the manager will have a look and see if we can go out and buy some big lumps in the summer, they always used to do a job for us in the old days, maybe a re-think in defence will see us keeping more clean sheets.

This Stoke hex is becoming like the old Bolton one, this lot were the strongest favourites for years to go straight back down, now they appear to be the Wimbledon of the noughtees.

Screw them, they aren’t that good, let’s give them a lesson in football, let’s show them the Delap throw is another way of saying ‘the long ball’ and stick 4 or 5 past them.

Yesterdays post got a record number of bad comments from Arsenal knows best accountants, good to see there are seemingly more people out there that prefer a clean balance sheet to a trophy, but don’t mind spending our transfer budget on salaries, to all those people that didn’t get let on yesterday, it wasn’t because you disagreed with our take on the finances, it’s because you started your post with ‘are you mugs spuds’ and stuff like that.

Well for people that claim to be able to read a balance sheet, you are all pretty stupid to think either of us would write a blog if we supported another team.

Hey and you know what, if I didn’t like something I was reading, I would stop reading it, reading then bitching is what old ladies do.

For all you normal people out there, enjoy the day, enjoy the game and enjoy the result, because I have a feeling the balance between the poor team and the good team will be addressed today. Big win coming up, chavs to draw, us to close the gap, perfect day!

For Micky!

WHy ritesh, what are they saying about Wenger. Personally i thought he handled himself pretty well in the interview. He didnt say much about Shawcross and didnt call for him to be banned from football like with Taylor.

  2. ManGoonian

I was there and have to say that the Stoke fans are scum, inbred neanderthal scum….

    Wankers, one and all…

I felt sick when I saw what happened to Ramsey and full credit to the team for pulling together and winning the game against a team, that thanks to the media’s constant insistence that Arsenal are a soft touch and cannot handle the physucal side of the game and full blooded challenges, are allowed to foul with impunity….

The refs simply allow this over zealous aggression because it is a given tactic against us…. The media and the premier league are just as guilty as Shawcross for allooeing this shit toi go on….

I thjought Wenger’s post match comments were spot on…. We are already hearing about what a nice lad poor bvroken hearted Ryan is…. I give it 2 days before the media start blaming Ramsey for getting in the way of the challenge….

  3. gnarleygeorge9

That is the best, most refreshing to see performance by The Arsenal I have seen for ages. I’m so happy :D but sad :( for Aaron Ramsay. He looked like he had really arrived today until that red neck kciked him

  4. The Ruler

Just seen the “rough and aggressive” comment, that’s part of the problem and sends out the wrong message, most of the refs are useless aswel, determined and committed fine, but rough and aggressive is obviously going to cause injuries.

  5. chozzer

Paul, the crowd went mental. The players tunnel is right alongside the away supporters and Shawcross wasn’t spared at all.

  6. ritesh

Check out a couple of newspapers on newsnow. The observer said Wenger does not want to be involved in football if football is about that.

Actually, Wenger was very measured. You could see he was prepared.

What do these guys not have to do to earn their bread and butter.

  7. gnarleygeorge9

Howdy BR, that would certainly warm the cockles of your heart up there in the snow. Better than being whipped with birch twigs by scantly clad young skandi shielas I bet?

  8. The Ruler

Exactly, more people seem to be showing sympathy for the perpertrator of the foul rather than the victim, there is a certain bias against Arsenal for a number of reasons, it’s a disgrace, there’s some many clear cut penalities we haven’t got this season too, also shit like the Song booking is fucking stupid when you compare it to some of the challengers they made without it even being a foul..

  9. chozzer

On the way out there were some Stoke fans singing ‘one leg, he’s only got one leg’. How sick can some people be?

  10. Penancio

Now we have to win the league, we all have to be behind the team right now, next match we have to win and we have to be mentally strong enough to win our match against Porto and progress to the next round.
Our great players have to give their all.
Cmon Arsenal ! KEEP THE FAITH ! IN ARSENE WE TRUST !

  11. sixx pac

finally some passion from our team. Celebrating goals again. I do believe that Sol brings that ‘ English’ passion into the team. Wanna see him more often

  12. gnarleygeorge9

    BR

After today, & with the run in Arsenal have, you may be granted both, chamoneeeeeeeeeeee

What about big Sol, he is 100% professional. He is definitely a great pick up, even just for these 3 points.

  13. ManGoonian

    David;

Song was right in front of me when he oput the ball out for a throw, when it would’ve been easier to kick it out for a corner! I was surprised he opted for the throw?

  14. Big Raddy

    ManG & Chozzer.

You away fans were magnificent today. All we heard over here (1000 miles away) was the Arsenal fans. Even to the point of “Shall we sing a song for you”.

You guys always do us armchair fans proud

  15. Supergunner07

Thats 3 leg breaks in 4 years but alot of more close shaves from horrendous tackles by players that should even being playing football because they are so poor. When do use see Rio or Ledley King do tackles like that [they dont have as poor touch, read the game & position themselves in a place to pick the ball off opponents unlike that agriculture player].

It is not a 50-50 challenge, when you take a awful first touch them lunge in to win the ball isnt 50-50

  16. Keyser

Just think it’s instinct not wanting to give them a corner, thought despite the goal, again, we dealt quite well with their aerial threat.

Also we kept the ball well in the final third, hardly let them get out in the second half, or anywhere near Delap range.

  17. Big Raddy

Stu. How was TV at fault? He was covering the centre of the goal in front of Coco.

If anyone was at fault it was Sagna for not covering the far post. We derided Clichy for doing the same just a couple of weeks ago, It was rank bad defending.

  18. ManGoonian

    Stu;

One mistake and he is off form??? It was a needless goal to concede coz we coped easily with their other set pieces… Just that throw from about 2 metres from the corner flag….

Plus, i would love to know how much time is taken up by the twat Delap trotting over to every throw, wiping the ball clean and then waiting for their players to get in position??? Surely throws should not take as long as free kicks???

  19. Big Raddy

    GG. I agree about Sol.

I was dead against it when we signed him feeling that he had nothing to offer, but I sure as hell was wrong.

Sol has been a terrific. If only he were 8 years younger!

  20. Stu

Not just because of that MG. He seemed a little off in recent matches too imo. Its probably the amount of games he is playing compared to in Holland.

I think he was at fault because first he lost Shawcross who he was set to mark and then dropped in front of goal to cover the mistake but ended up playing their scorer onside.

  21. ManGoonian

Sol was immense again today, but I think the whole team were excellent…. And after what happened, I cannot imagine giving any of em a bad time…

Eboue came over and gave up his shirt at the end… He was top again today too…

  22. chozzer

cheers BR, we were sat in the pub with some fans from Iceland before the game. They were supporting Stoke for some reason even though some of them were Liverpool fans. Something to do with Stoke having Icelandic owners a few years back. Anyway, they were saying that they were going to rip into Bendtner because they’ve been living in Denmark.

  23. gnarleygeorge9

Yep, on that subject Raddy, the away fans were great. All the stoke neanderthals did was booo or was that an Ooh Ooh Ooh like a baboon

  24. David

    MG

We were always going to concede a throw in..those are inevitable.

but for some teenage kid to come in on his first start in the league the whole season and score is juss typical Arsenal.

We defend like muppets. I mean we made Nani look like Maradona and Insua look like Pirlo.

  25. Big Raddy

    ManG. Damn right.

And if you take into account the Ramsey injury (at least 5 mins) and 6 substitutions. There was at least 10 minutes add on not the 7 played.

We would have def scored more the longer the game lasted

  26. sol

    LETS GET ONE THING STRAIGHT

    It is not SHawcross’s fault.
It is the fault of every manager who thinks the way to play Arsenal is to ‘get stuck in’ ‘hammer them’ ‘hit them hard’
Smith, Taylor and Shawcross have only done their job and followed orders.
If it’s anyones fault it is Sam Allardyce for generating this myth about how to play Arsenal and even more the media’s fault for playing up to the hype.
Shawcross has been one of the best players in the premiership this year and fully deserves his place in the England squad.

I am just sick of English football that has to stoop to the level of hacking a team stereoytped to bein pretty and not being up for the fight. This is what happens with the power of the media. Now one of the finest talents that Britain has seen in recent years may never be the same player or prospect again.

    BRAVO!!!!!

  27. ManGoonian

    David;

I meant the ONE solitary Delap thtow that they scored from, that was avoidable as Song shouldve put it out fior a corner!

WE defended really well, apart from that…

    Come on fella FFS!

    Positive thoughts remember??? :D

  28. gnarleygeorge9

So the way to deal with the Delap throw is……….? Keep the ball in play. So with that tactic about to do the rounds, Stokes best chance of scoring has been killed off. I’l give them one more season in the top flight then down they will go

  29. Big Raddy

    I repeat.

Why didn’t we have a player covering both posts. They would for a corner, and Delap’s throws differ only in trajectory.

Sagna should have been at the far post which would have resulted in him having an easy clearance.

TV didn’t play the scorer onside, because that would imply the rest of the defence was pushing out. There was no time to do that.

In no way was it TV’s fault.

  30. Confidentgoner

The EPL refereeing is really getting me upset. I put the blame squarely on the abysmally poor refereeing. If you fail to punish players for stupid tackles, they go on and do worse things. What if he cripples Ramsey, would he pay damages? the FA should read the riot act to refrees and teams. La liga and even the Italian leagues are better managed.

  31. Keyser

Sol after he saw the break went a bit mad, used to love that with him and Toure, no-one’s going to bother stopping them, because most people wouldn’t be able to.

  32. Stu

Raddy, wait and see the replays.

Sagna, or anyone else, didnt go onto the post because they they play everyone onside for the second phase if there is a flick on (like there was).

As it turned out Vermaelen ended up playing Pugh onside anyway. Eboue and Sagna let their markers run off them (one of them being Pugh) but Vermaelen was more at fault imo. Not the only culpabable one but the most at fault.

  33. luke

We should have had 3 penalties in 2nd half. Ref sucked. Tony Pulis should be exiled. I want to strangle Tony Pulis so bad right now. What a great lad aaron. Anyone know if theres any way us fans can wish aaron well? Email or facebook or whatever?

  34. David

    Lol

    Man G

If you go back to read the comments…I was slaggin Bendy off (ofcoarse cuz he was shite) and then i secretly wished he would score…and He scored :D

    GG9

I was on hands and knees praying. Heart pounding in my mouth.

And after the celebration i felt like crying. Yeah. Im a tough guy i know.

  35. Keyser

Heh I thought the goalie saved the ball, it just seemed to stop and then started to roll a bit faster like it was going downhill or something.

Mancini might’ve invested in some nifty remote control technology.

  36. gnarleygeorge9

Keyser I had an vision of Sol standing on the dais with The Cup. How many games does he need to play to get a winners medal. Am i getting ahead of myself i wonder.

  37. chozzer

The interview I’ve just seen with Pulis shows him as a decent bloke saying all the right things as regards feeling sorry for Rambo.

  38. Keyser

10 I think, but thats from memory when Keown needed one more appearance to get a medal in his last season and Parlour was warming up.

  39. Stu

Not me Raddy. If the fullbacks are on the post it means the defence cant push out if the ball is cleared meaning there will be no offsides.

It happened today. A ball came into the box, everyone pushed out except someone who had been on the post and the ball came to shawcross but he thought he was offside so did nothing with the ball. Had he been alert we could have conceded.

  40. gnarleygeorge9

On to a more pathetic subject matter, how about that dead shit John Terry. The bloke has single handedly fucked chelsea. They were a stand out to win The Title now they are a shambles. Bloody good thing I say :)

  41. luke

Thanks Stu, thats what I was thinking too. Hope Diaby gets fit and stays fit. Wenger will buy now maybe? I hate to take any positive out of it though. Poor aaron, Im really broken up still.

  42. gnarleygeorge9

Stu he might, your right :) (being Australian and all)

Ok, I’m for for a cuppa & some breakky. Give the manchurians hell MG. Oh goodie I can watch the replay.

Get well Aaron old Boyo, I miss you already.

    COME ON YOU REDS!!!!! Chamoneski

  43. Stu

Ramsey was actually one of our best players today imo…makes what happened even worse..just when he was making a mark in the forst team.

  44. Rhyle

Can’t believe Shawcross is getting sympathy ‘poor little Shawcross’???

Fucking outrageous – repeating it over and over does not make it any better – okay no studs are up but he absolutely smashes ‘too quick’ Ramsey – SMASHES HIM – tell me there is no malice in that? You’re a fucking idiot if you think there’s no malice

As for fucking Pulis – he can shove his ‘nice lad’ up his arse – Shawcross was looking for a row all game, having squared up to Fab in the first half and tearing about all game

Fuck him – I hope he never pulls on a pair of boots again

  45. ManGoonian

I cannot ever remember a team (not just Arsenal) ever having sooooo mnay serious injuries…. Not just a month out, but 6, 8, 12 and more months out…. Fucking horrible….

  46. Stu

MG, while i do think there was intent (to get both player and ball) i dont think he meant to do what he did.

He probably wanted to go in hard to make sure that if he didnt get the ball he stopped the player but you cant say he meant to break his leg. He tried to kick the ball but was so shit he kicked Ramseys leg instead. It was horrific but i dont think Shawcross meant that.

  47. chozzer

ManG, was looking forward to seeing Bendy’s goal too and it didn’t disappoint. We don’t score goals like that, do we?

  48. Stu

Bendtners goal was magnificant. One of the best headers i’ve seen in a long while…perhaps the best since Crespo against United for Milan in the CL a few seasons ago. Different type of header but still cracking.

  49. Rhyle

Stu – who cares if he didn’t mean to break his leg? It’s a horrible challenge that IS LIKELY TO CAUSE INJURY OF SOME DESCRIPTION – I’d be almost as angry if he made that challenge and it didn’t connect

Ryan Shawcross could have spent the first 20 years of his life looking after disease ridden orphans in some 3rd world country being a ‘saint’ does not excuse you from responsibility for that sort of tackle

  50. Stu

Im in no way excusing the tackle Rhyle. Just saying i dont think its as bad as say Taylors tackle where he went in studs showing and leg straightened.

  51. Stu

One again MG im in no way condoning the tackle. Im disgusted with it too and hate Shawcross for wrecking Ramseys leg. There are no excuses for such an awful “tackle”.

  52. ManGoonian

I think Taylor’s assault was far worse, because there was intent there, IMO… Perhaps Shawcross didnt mean to hurt Ramsey, but he went in with too much aggression and his challenge was dangerous and he should be banned for 10 games, minimum…

  53. Johan

Arsenal showed great character today. Keep that up and we have a shot at the league.

As for who’s to blame…. Honestly, it’s the managers who fucks around with young players careers by telling their players that they expect hard(see brutal) gameplay against us.

  54. Stu

Someone else on here said what i have been thinking for ages. The player who breaks someones leg should be banned for as long as the victim is out. Why should the victim miss more football than the perpetrator.

  55. TJ

Evening guys, great result but thoughts go out to Ramsey. Whilst Shawcross shouldn’t, but will get bias media protection I must say their number 6 (Whelan I think) was first to Rambo & credit to him for making sure he didn’t move & do more damage.

  56. goonerpress

Yeah TJ I agree. I salute Whelan. I loved the passion in Campbell today. When he was fuming at the Ramsey challenge and pushin all the Stoke players about and tellin em to fuck off. Then when Vermy scored, the passion in Campbells face beltin out a cry of celebration. We need more of that from everyone!!

  57. Alex

so gutted for Ramsey, a year out probably. he could have achieved so much in that time.

i just hope all our players come back in one piece know its the international break. knowing our luck anything could happen.

  58. SUGA3

    good evening ;)

great, great win today – whisper it, but the fact that we did not shit ourselves like 2 years ago may bode well for the team spirit…

    real shame about Rambo…

  59. ManGoonian

    Thanks Stu!

Not seen Cesc bad mouthin Pulis, although I salute him for it, if he did…

Stoke, their football club, manager, players and football are sometrhing out fot eh dark ages, neanderthal scum bags…

Just seen a Brum player take out an opponent and the effin linesman…. Ridgewell is as much of a thug as Taylor…. We will have to be on our guard when we play those midlands inbreds…

    I really have a downer on the midlands… Don’t I!

  60. ManGoonian

    Suga3;

Are you referring to when Cesc and the others were sickened and fucked up after seeing their mate and fellow Arsenal player’s leg get smashed into several pieces? I am sure you would have carried on as if nothing had happened mate…

  61. TJ

Anyone know why constantly taking 15/20 seconds per throw in isn’t classed as time wasting? It takes 5 minutes out of every game they play against us!!

  62. Stu

Apparently leg breaks are nothing MG. Gambon even said today that they hardly even hurt…couldnt be bothered looking for a quote though.

  63. Zorr0

    Evening all.

What a win, it was an opportunity to crumble, as we did at St Andrews or to show we will do it for Aaron. Lets hope the boy can collect his winners medal on crutches like Bobby P.

  64. incesc

massive massive love to ramsey. we will win it now we have to and we will. you can foul us untill our legs break, cowards.try us at football, see how you get fucked. fuck you all i have tears in my eyes.bad bad day for our belOVED GAME

  65. sixx pac

i think we should ask sky to compare gallas tackle on taylor last month and shawcross on ramsey. Then say which is worse. They were bitching about Gallas tackle for days

  66. ManGoonian

    What you should have said was something like;

Well, the way the players regrouped after yet another horrendous injury to a fellow Gooner, shows the players have learnt from past experiences…

    Just trying to help…

  67. Arse&Nose

    I feel sick, absolutely disgusted.

Once again I am seeing the stories in in the papers defending shawcross, talking about him being a nice lad etc..

Its the eduardo thing all over again. The media are ignoring the big issue, ignoring ramsey and instead focusing on the clumsey thug who caused the mess!

Each time the cunt who breaks our players leg is ENGLISH, I cant help but think how different the medias reaction would be if it was some big nigerian player who made a bad tackle.

  68. Gooby

Evening guys. I did not watch the game, was stuck somewhere and i couldn’t. It followed everything by
Reading your comments on le grove. Ramsey’s injury is awefull
If it is a simple break he would take 6 to 8 months to recover or maybe less but we should see
Him back next christmas at most imo.

I don’t want to talk about the that mug who injured rambo.

But i d like to give you my view. I think that some refs can’t handle it when it gets rough
Caus they haven’t got the balls to give fould from the begging and protect the players. It is a disgrace that it takes
Broken leg for the world to see the problems.

Ramsey is youngand will have a good recovery. He will get stronger.

Love the arsenal, loved that we went to win the game.
Lets keep gunning and taking the title as our target.

C’mon you gooners! Legend of a club, the pride of london…

  69. ManGoonian

    Zorro;

Hey fella, hows it going man?

We lost the league round about this time 2 seasons ago after a midlands club player broke an Arsenal player’s leg…. We are gonna win the league now after a midlands club player….

  70. Swedish Gun

we should have towels around the pitch for the next home game

and if/when we have the lead we should start polish the damn thing for 20 sec at every corner, goalkick, throw-in, just to make a point

  71. Arse&Nose

Sky have shown no replays of the incident. Why not?

Is it because its sickening, or is it because they will make themselves look stupid for constantly standing up for thugs? As an earlier poster said, how many times was the Gallas tackle on Davies shown???

  72. Arse&Nose

Mang, no one is allowed to touch Rooney..check out his stats for fouls won.

Ref’s protection of Rooney is as if he is their teenage virgin daughter on prom night.

  73. Lou

As soon as it was apparent that Ramsey was the latest victim of yet another horrible tackle I knew Pullis would reach for the standard book of excuses as did Mick McCarthy after the Diaby tackle and McLeish after the Eduardo assault. “He’s not that sort of player” they’ll say. ” He doesn’t have a bad bone in his body” Pullis was appalling on MOTD. He was trying to say that Wenger should keep his opinion to himself when Wenger merely stated that he found the tackle unacceptable. He made no personal attack on Shawcross. By that I guess that Pullis found the tackle entirely acceptable. By tomorrow Talk Sport will have exonerated Shawcross completely and reveal that it was Ramsey’s fault for being too quick. As for him not being that sort of player, was it not he who put Adebayor out for several matches last season after an awful tackle on his ankle when Adebayor was actually off of the pitch? And if you make that sort of tackle, doesn’t that make you the sort of player who does. I am reminded of the man who gets drunk and drives at 90 mph past a school and is then surprised when he kills a kid.”He’s not that sort of man” they’ll say. “He doesn’t have a bad bone in his body”. You act like a thug then don’t be surprised if people get hurt. But isn’t Walton partly responsible in that he let Stoke get away with murder and set the bar so high for the level of tackle he would tolerate that it was just waiting to happen. Then to book Song for being quicker and stronger was just the apex of his incompetence. I am sick at what I saw on a football pitch today and it isn’t the first time. I wish Ramsey a speedy recovery.

  74. ethangunner

wengers got some ammo now !

but i think it avails him nothing to cry the victim , if he draws out this ramsey thing any more he might be writing an invitation to every hack in the league to mow down our players .

    get well rambo !
you will be a star …
well you would have been ..
lets hope it doesnt ruin your career like it did dudu’s ….

  75. Gooby

See how the press make of walcott some kind of super wonderkid
It is all about being english
They talk a out theo as he is a super play”pace pace pace” os all they say
It is like he is a god.

Now don’t get me wrong i love him because he is one of our player
But i don’t think he is up to it for the moment.
He is still a kid and shows some shite display. Biased press

  76. ManGoonian

    Lou;

That is spot on my friend…. Referees allow oppositon players to foul us as it is a known tactic and therefore acceptable…. Get in our faces, be robust because Arsenal are foreigners who cannot deal with the English grit and determination, yadda yadda….

    Suga3;

Haha! I am just a bit sensitive after what happened to yet another of our players mate…

  77. ManGoonian

Of course Rooney is allowed to fould and mouth off to the refs, he is our only hope at the World Cup…

Song getting a booking was just typical of what we have to deal with this season…. We get fouled; nothing happens, we commit a firm but fair challenge, or mistime a tackle and its a booking; every time…

Is Song banned for a game now?

  78. Johan

The sheer pace of the challenge, combined with the fact that Ramsey’s leg was firmly planted on the ground lead to the injury. It wasn’t some horrible tackle, I’ve watched the clip like twenty times now and Ramsey is really only a split of a second before Shawcross. So it was stupid and clumbsy, but franckly, there is noone to blame except the FA who only cares about two things, to keep a good rep for the english players and to keep the premier league as a physical and intensive league. The second problem really lies with the refs. I think todays referee at least tried to be fair, it could have been a lot worse even with the two ignored penalities.

Turning on Shawcross is really letting the true cunts get away with it… And now I’m talking about the FA, the Refs., and the neandeertal managers..(the Allardyces of the world.)

    Anyway.

Rambo, get better! Our thoughts go out to you!

  79. Zorr0

Good MG. you guys sounded loud and clear at Stoke.

Did you see the chav fans giving Bridge abuse today. They really are the thickest scummiest cunts in the country; I mean what the fuck has Bridge done wrong in the whole incident?
