Bendtner – I want to repay Wenger faith!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Ha, ha, ha, how many times have I read that on arsenal.com, it must be a headline in their favourites column!

Yet another players says it, join the ranks of young old and injured Nikki, maybe thanking the fans for watching you all these years would be nicer for once.

I watched the Stuttgart vs Barca game last night and quite enjoyed it, even though it was 1-1, Stuttgart were great in the first half, in fact as good as they were, Barca were bad, the second half started with the withdrawal of defensive midfielder YaYa Toure, one that has often been wanted by some well known Grovers. Henry came on and they were a different team. Although past it and committing strange deeds, I did find myself missing mad Jens as well, I also found myself missing Hleb and Henry, still Hleb and Henry wanted to leave and Wenger never keeps people that want to leave, it will be interesting to see what happens if Cesc wants out this summer!

Anyway, Barca proved something I’ve been saying all season, why do we need a DM? even a great one? Barca showed us last night that you don’t.

Dutch Frank won Barca the ECL and La Liga, then they changed  managers to Pep Guardiola and he won the treble and looks good to repeat it, his record is won 70%, so it goes to show, if the set up is right and you buy great players or great prospects, then it doesn’t matter who manages you, I mean who was Guardiola before Barca?

Not that it matters with us, because we don’t win anything anyway. Still with the Mancs winning last night, we really do need to beat Stoke at the weekend, so it will be interesting to see what happens. I think every game now is a must win game, so good luck the boys.

I got my renewal through for my tickets, I’m still not sure whether or not I want to keep contributing to this crazy obsession for youth, so if there are any real fans out there, not plastics, real fans that want two tickets for next season, I am prepared to let you rent them off me for that season, to see if you feel the same after coughing up a shed load of dosh to watch the academy. £5,200 for two, but bear in mind that includes a free beer and a programme. If you are one of those poor people that think I’m lucky to be there and you have been on the waiting list all of your life, here’s your chance to put your money where you mouth is, just like I have for the last 20 odd years.

Send in your request by email. I’ll publish how many interested emails I get if you like.

Have a great day Grovers, it’s a bit nothing out there at the moment, but at least Cashley got tin tacked, and he’s now accusing the chavs of trying to force him out, so maybe he’ll end up in life with what he deserves after all eh! Nothing!

Maciek… there are bundle of Brazilians at Inter plus… they love to go back at Christmas, something they don’t get in England.

  2. Ja_Gunner

Lucio has been special for a very long time…its just he was in Germany so he never got the praise he deserved…

Only when he played for Brazil did more ppl see what he had to offer….

He is an excellent at defending and very going forward as well…we should have tried to get him all those years when he was in Germany…

He has lost pace but he is still an excellent defender…

  3. ethangunner

… and surely football is about hope and keeping that little flame burning for as long as possible.

If you want to be 100% logical and matter of fact all the time… in my opinion… you missing out on half the joy of football.
    ——————————————–
    everyone is different pedro .
    thats why we blog ,

but some people accept failure easier than others , it a personal trait more so than a football related one …

tell me is there more fun in a season where we lift a trophy ?

or 5 years without one ?

losing out is becoming a very familiar trait .
its a bit hard to pull out the optimistic bandwagon 38 times+ a year for the past 5 seasons and still remain the eternal optimist :)

  4. Stu

Its too early for Chesney imo. We need to get a keeper in the summer unless we want to see more of Almunia next season because it looks like Fabianski is never going to take his chance.

  5. Pedro

Ethan… Chelsea have just lost their keeper and they’ve got to play with Hilario for the rest of the season.

ManU have plenty of point dropping moments ahead…

We’re gonna win the league… I’ll bet you two beers.

  6. ethangunner

at some point you have to evaluate failure ..
and i have been in this mode for 2.5 seasons ..
and am yet to snap out of it ;)

but i promise i will when we start to show the promise we were .. PROMISED :)

    my head hurts :)

  7. David

Say what you want…but this team knows how to defend.

Kept Drogba quiet all game…and tbf..Chelsea shouldnt have scored.

  8. Pedro

Ethan, despite you feeling that way… you still rate certain players and you vary what you say. That’s what blogging is about for me…

Maciek, I can see it already,

‘But Cassilas was 19 when he debuted for Madrid. For me, he is good enough, he age does not matter. He has spirit.’

  9. Kreshnik

Pedro, I have no doubts at all that the league is ours this year. None whatsoever :) . I just wanted us to win the fuckin UCL instead though. That’s a real special trophy and we have none. But it seems very unrealistic.

difference is hilario and almunia afe about the same !

but nik b and NO ONE :) is better than drogba and anelka ?

or the chev back 4 ?

and besides pedro your forgetting about a little northern club who beat west ham last night 3-0 nil :)

    just keeping you honest :)

  11. Maciek

I would love to see it Pedro. Besides we would have saved a lot of money. And then we could buy Krasic or Villa for example. Or Garry Cahil who I rate.

  12. gambon

    Kreshnik

I think we’re well out of our depth in terms of winning the CL unfortunately. We will have to win the PL for silverware.

  13. David

    Ethan

I expect one of liverpool or the Chavs to beat the Mancs.

And the mancs never do well against Fulham so points dropped there as well.

  14. chozzer

Maciek, yes and Citeh are coping reasonably well up to now. Delap looked like he had an injury in the 1st half but the cnut ran it off.

  15. ethangunner

if it was a 2 horse race id MAYBE give it some credence ..

but man U are within 2 of the chev’s now ..
and are gathering steam . like they did end of last season ! so painfully predictable to watch as is our continual demise every season at their hands .. (among others)

that news will excite the other team more so than it will ours .. pedro ..

  16. Stu

Well, i hope Own Coyle is happy with himself. By leaving Burnley they are sure to be relegated and he is doing his best to see Bolton down as well.

I hope the Bolton fans are happy too. They are getting to see the proper football they longed for… shame its always the oppo and never them..

  17. David

    Ethan

The Mancs are a point behind Chelsea.

    We are 6 points.

1 more Utd loss/draw…and 1 chelsea draw and loss…and the league is ours.

  18. ethangunner

    david

in the 2nd half of the season the chev’s and man U seldom slip up because red nose doesnt go into the games under prepared like he does in aug – nov (or wenger ALL the time)

he saves his breathe for the last quarter mile .
we are the young filly that bolts off at the start and gets lost in the pack at the end , who can maybe grab a place …

    its all too predictable ..

  19. Kreshnik

yes Gambon … and it’s fuckin sad. I would give anything to be winning the CL, and even though I know that at this stage there are really no easy teams to play, it’s sad that we are even talking about Porto. But who knows, if some game changers like Arsha, Cesc, Rosicky or uhhhhm Eboue :) step it up, maybe we’re in for a fuckin surprise.

    dave

we still face man shitty and the spuds
we have our own bridges to cross ourselves .
and we are far more prone to drop points than the chev’s or man U .

they have got the bodies on the bench leading up to the end …

we Might see RVP again this season , probably not id say ..

who knows fortune favors the brave , but im not brave enough to predict that ..
    :)

not when history stares you in the face ..
our problems will not go away without the appropriate actions being facilitated…

New Great Keeper – CD – DM – striker 2 would be nice …

also David villa will end up at either man U or the chev’s next season , so that should be something to look forward too !

  21. David

    Spurs are nothing Without Defoe

City are having a horrible run of games.

And to be fair we shouldve beat them the last time.

Its Fulham at the end im worried about.

We wont win all of our games so the other 2 can easily afford to drop points.
    —————————-
dead right gambon with big al in goal v’s spuds etc we are bound to hemorrhage goals .

plus the real issue is no one is really back
from injury .. gallas – rvp AA23 are key figures that really cant ever be out of the squad at this time of the season for us ..

if i was a betting man , which i am i wouldnt be putting Geoffs flat/house/mansion on it :)

    :)

id like to see jose at Arsenal !
    sure …

i think he would be my top pick also !
we know he can manage here very well , doesnt take shit or 2nd place …

yes the club needs that sort of influence .

  25. ethangunner

i think wenger would be better as 1st team coach-
    recruitment and development …

but i dont think he’d take the pay cut …
    :)

  26. ethangunner

    David

if your honest Hughes has done far less wrong
in a shorter amount of time than wenger’s 5 year failings ..

to compare it only high-lights our clubs complacency issues !

  27. ethangunner

wenger has achieved his tagets again this season C.L football ..

    job done ..

he will hold on to forth
whilst furgerburger red nose will push for 1st …

    thats the diff !

  28. A

Wouldn’t that be great Gooby!! No news yet on how bad Cech’s injury is? Hilario just can’t kick the ball, and whilst Cech has had a pretty terrible season by his standards pre head injury, Hilario would make them very weak. Defensively they’re far from great anyways chelsea, terrible by Terry again for the first goal, they need to just give him time off imo to go away and get his head totally right.

  29. ethangunner

i think Hughes whilst he bought a few duds :) robinho (he should of at least been average )
ade- well we had insider info on that ..

but over all kompany – ireland – given – and the list is endless were not bad purchases ..

they need what any club needs , a great manager to take them the extra step needed …

maybe mancini still can do the job for them .

but im sure he will be given the chance .
he hasnt even been in power during a real transfer window yet , but im sure if he hasnt lifted his teams rankings by this time next season he wont be on a free food ticket with blue tomato sauce next season .

wenger however can achieve mediocrity season after season and be praised for it :(

  30. sixx pac

maybe i am stupid but i fail to see how a 4th place bonus is higher than a first place bonus. I also fail to see how someone with a clear cut chance at finishing 1st would opt for 4th. Blame Wenger for not buying players but u cant say the man doesnt try.

  31. Ja_Gunner

    Team for Stoke

    …………………..Al……………………
    Sagna…….Sol…………..Verm…….Clich/Traore
    …………………Song………………………
    ……….Cesc…………………….Denilson…..
    …Theo…………….Bendy…………….Arsh….

I dont think Diaby will be fit for the game….

I woudnt start Ramsey….Nasri Theo or Rosicky on the right ….Arsh to come back in…

    Eduardo off the bench

  32. A

I’d go with that Ja, though Gallas if fit, and Diaby in rather than Denilson.

Depending on Denilson’s fitness maybe Nasri or Ramsey in rather than him if Diaby is out.

Up top it’s a tough call, Bendy central is a given, and Arshavin if fully fit, though if he’s not I wouldn’t throw him in.

Rosicky, Nasri, and Theo all have good arguments to start.

I really hope Diaby is fit though, he’s imo our most important player for this game that we need back. Especially with their being tired his power breaking through the midfield could be very important

  33. Gooby

mmm Ja i would put rasicky for theo

denison just scares the hell out of me. why not nasri instead, what do les grovers think?

  34. A

It depends Gooby, Denilson is defensively better, but if his back is giving him alot of hassle, which means he’s even less athletic than when full fit, I wouldn’t have him near the first team!

Diaby has to be fit, though if he’s not, and Denilson isn’t fit, I’d stick Nasri in there ahead of Ramsey

HUH you remember the fa cup ?

Arsenal will not compromise title bid: Arsene Wenger puts FA Cup on the back burner … The Daily Mail 2010-01-01
Arsene Wenger has reassured fans he can understand their love affair with the FA Cup, but insists the Gunners must not compromise their fight for the Barclays Premier League title.

    ————–
he has publicly talked about not going for the C.C and F.A cup .remember ?

i think that qualifies as NOT TRYING …

bet you they still take the money at the gate quick enough thou !

  36. sixx pac

ethan, he didnt say he’s not going for them he said he didnt want to compromise with the bid for the title. The Epl is more important, right?

  37. AA23

I just saw a story about Dzeko’s value going up.
Poor cunt is going to be stuck at Wolfsburg for the rest of his career.
was it Chamakh who was asking people to value him a little more sensibly and to be realistic?
If I was Dzeko and in many ways I am, I’d be having a word with my people and be telling them to calm down a bit.
Even Milan are saying “fuck that”

  38. AA23

to stop Delaps throw you simply make denilson hit him with a career ender straight away.
    they both go off
Our 10 smashes their 11 to bits and we dont see Denilson for 3 games.
trouble is Denilson would take out Cesc by mistake and score an own goal at the same time.

  39. A

The way to stop delap is to spend the entire game in Stoke’s half, and not give them throws when in those positions, just hoof it centrally, or backwards for a corner! We just need to attack Stoke, although the kids ended up losing 3-1, they were well in it for most of the game, and pulled stoke all over the place, our first team should be able to do the same, but to a greater extent, and score goals as a result, especially as Stoke should be tired!

  40. Stu

Obviously the whole team werent kids Jaguar but it was a mostly back up team. Only 1 starter (Cesc). Dont take everything so literally.

  41. A

“and the likes” Jaguar?! Cesc was the only player to retain his place, and that was just because of an illness to the player who was meant to be playing there! Silvestre counts as a kid in my eyes because he’s at the same level as the kids, just on the way down rather than the way up! It was kids, players coming back from injuries, and Cesc, and we did well against them for most of the game.

Ordinarily I’d say whatever happens it would be tight, but as they will have had just one day to prepare for us, and will be very tired, whereas we’ve had a week’s rest and preparation, there’s a chance that if we get an earlyish goal we could give them a bit of a spanking.

Though it could well still be a very tight game. I’d be happy with a 1-0 deflected goal!

  42. Ja-Gunner

    For next season…..

Lets send Vela out on loan to a premiere league club….

    Get chamkh in…along with DM/CB and a goalie…

    …………………..Bendtner…………………

  43. Ja-Gunner

For second team switch Walcott and Eduardo…

If we make those recruitments in summer we can go for all 4 trophies….

The second team should play in the FA cup games for sure…and he should mix it up for the Carling Cup depending on the opposition…..

    Second team

    …………………GK……………………..

    First team for next season

    Fabianski

    Sagna Gallas Vermy Gibbs

    Cesc Song Diaby

    Theo VP Arshavin

No way VP would be anywhere apart from in the central role, at the very heart of our attacking system!

Fabianski? You must have hit your head. A new goalie is vital. I was watching La liga and Valdez flapped at a shot and the commentator said he must thinks he plays for Arsenal. Our Gks are a joke. Clean house.

Who is the best German defender we can find. Lets get him in.

  46. Maurya

Why do you guys want to play Theo ahead of Rosicky, Nasri, Ebou and even Bendy. If we can keep him, i would say Merida deserves a chance ahead of Theo on current form.

    Evening all

Sabeel, this hobby the cashed up oil barons have is getting expensive. They have outlayed squillions & got the wrong manager x 2. & old Togo twat is up to his old tricks again I see

    Just proves,spending money without brain,is fool`s stuff..

chavs did it,with good manager, and with costly players who are worth that money.

except tevez i dont see anyone in that city team, worth the money, they were bought and salaried on.

    ——-

No togo twat,so hope tevez can get us the draw at stamford bridge..

    Good morning,

Stoke. Hope we score first “and are more efficient in the final third”. We should win if we play our normal game.

  50. Big Raddy

    Evening GG. How’s tricks?

All this talk about fighting on 4 fronts and the value of the FAC!

Man City have an enormous squad (just look at their CF’s) and still will be delighted to get 4th and no silverware.

  51. gnarleygeorge9

Just chilling out down here BR with a beer, on a nice warm evening. Been hectic with work but now its my time. I just hope its Gooner time on Saturday. We really owe Stoke a big kick up the arse(nal)

Hope things are good with you up there with all those hot Danish shielas :P

  52. maturks

If Denilson don’t play then we have a chance. Denilson playing will allow their forwards running through the middle with him jogging along. What did Arsene see in him? another waste of Arsenal resources just to bring in a crap foreign player.

  53. nishanth

I actually hope chelsea beat inter. If they go out now they will turn all their attention towards PL.Chelsea to face united in the quarters. And the winner of that to get thrashed by barca in the semis. And finally we face barcelona in the final!!!!!
