The new kit and who will be wearing it!

So yesterday saw a bunch of blog sites show the new kit, all red and Nike’s last one apparently, hmmmm, first of all it wasn’t a real picture but then any mug could see that.

Secondly we would never have a kit without white sleeves, I think Arsenal will have learnt that from the agg they got with the last one and thirdly we always seem to alternate between red socks and white ones, I hope next season we have red and white hooped socks like the first Nike Kit, which I still think was the best one, the one with lightening bolts.

The other rumour is that we will be ditching Nike for Adidas the year after, if we ditch Nike, I hope it’s for Puma, they do some really nice stuff, apart from the spuds kit that is.

Anyway, more to the point, who will be wearing it? If the rumours are to be believed Cesc and Gallas are both off, I don’t believe Cesc will go but maybe if he does we can finally pay off the debt, I kid of course because with the prudent spending the coach has done over the years and with the property market back in full swing I suspect that’s already been paid off, I can’t think why not if it hasn’t!

Arsene, we really lack experience, Billy boy for me has had his best ever season, give him a 2 year contract, he’s earned it, some of the others you’ve given 20 year contracts to haven’t, show the team that being able to play football now counts for something. Well something more than being 19 anyway.

I’m thinking yesterday what a shame we aren’t still in the cup, but when I saw who the winners of Stoke and City got I was also thinking at least we haven’t got to get a further spanking by the Chavs again, well at least until we meet then in the Champions league anyway, but if we get lucky, and if we beat Porto and then get through the quarters, we may have Robin back, then we’ll see how good they are, you never know, all we have left now is the faint hope that our luck with injuries will turn.

Maybe we will go on a run, at least the chasing back didn’t cover themselves in glory this weekend, perhaps we can win the Champions league and Premier league double, I’d take that, wouldn’t you?

So this next month is crucial to the Arsenal in as much as the season’s will be renewed and that means that we will start seeing things like pre-season contracts being signed, Cesc to sign a new and improved one and a brand spanking new kit to wet our lips.

A case of Peroni for whoever gets us an exclusive picture!

No pic... no beer...

Have a great day today Grovers, only two more to see how far we can go in Europe!!!

I thought the kit was a scam? Looks a tad Manc to me.

  6. tonyadamsisgod says:

Geoff – I don’t know how you manage to keep writing through these slow times!!

  7. slimshady says:

Morning, I’ll certainly take the double! Keep the faith lol :D .

Van is THE MAN by far and away!!

  8. John A says:

I really hope the kit has collars. I can still picture Bergkamp, Wrighty et all in that marvellous kit.

  9. John A says:

Geoff, I also hope it’s Puma. Some of the ACN kits being worn were wicked. I’ve had enough of Nike introducing blue and white away kits. It should ALWAYS be yellow & blue.

  10. rastagoon says:

    top 10?

  11. Mark C says:

    Good point Geoff- morning all.

I agree I cant see Cesc leaving – I believe we are debt free if we have completed al the flats we are supposed to.

However if one superstar is to leave I would let Arshavin leave. I think he is a great player and we could get loads of money for him.

It is clear we need a keeper, 2 defenders, a midfielder, and some class up front. That is before any player leaves.

Gallas needs to sign as Silvestre and Campbell wont be around next season.

The other rumour was Felliani from Everton. I always thought he was a good player, he would add some steel to our midfield. I dont see him competing with Song, they could play together, or Song could move to CB.

    Have a good day.

    —–

    great minds

  13. Denilson says:

    Morning all…

Yeah, the kit was a bit too Manure. I’m also all for Puma. Nike & Adidas have become shite these days (when it comes to designing cool kits)

  14. Micky Did It 89 says:

One weekend of no football and my life becomes an empty, meaningless, dark void. Shallow?

  15. charybdis1966 says:

Yes Ethan, a bullet dodged there – even without Cashley the Chavs have the hoodoo well and truly upon us.

    The cnuts.

  16. John A says:

Not too sure about Adidas. Some of the Chavski kits are horrendous.

  17. Big Dave says:

    Photoshopped

  18. chozzer says:

    1886-1890 with white sleeves anyone?

    http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Arsenal/Arsenal.htm

  19. Micky Did It 89 says:

Worst kit of all time had to be the green and blue away number from somewhere in the mid eigthies. Geoff, agree on those red and white hooped socks. Does anyone else agree, that people who call socks “stockings”, probably live with their mother’s.

  20. Simon says:

I reckon we go for the 1895-1896 kit….

  21. bops says:

Any idea what will happen if Portsmouth windup ??

  22. Rich from the North Bank says:

    Today’s conversation: Kits??!!!!!

I think you’ve had too much of the valentines day sauce ; )

Have a good day grovers, i’m off to browse the internet for… clothes haha

  23. Simon says:

    It’s not a windup, it’s true :P

  24. Gunners The Stunners says:

    Morning all,

I don’t believe this is our new kit. I think some gooner got bored of no Arsenal action last weekend, so he/she took this Fab4 pic wearing this season’s blue away kit and with a bit of work came up with this kit. You’ll be seeing many more kits before the real one is revealed…

  25. ethangunner says:

    chary

i think its bad enough going out to stoke..
but to here all the banter again is more like bomb dodged :)

    nuclear warhead dodged ?

    u see caprica has started??!

  26. Big Dave says:

The only kit I want to see is with the name

    villa on the back.

    Can only dream can’t I !!!

  27. charybdis1966 says:

Ethan, I feel a kind of ambivalence to missing out on the FA Cup – of course it’s a chance at a trophy being spunked off, yet the prospect of another trouncing at the hands of the Chavs would do nothing for my mood.
Yeah I saw the BSG prequel had started – it’s been on Sky 1 here a few weeks – it’s seems terribly dark to me and alas my TV viewing habits were formed in a more innocent time. Lately I’ve been watching Magnum PI, generally light heated stuff and the hilarious Higgins..”Oh…my….God!”

  28. rico says:

Morning LG, I echo taig’s comment about how do find something interesting to write about each morning – hats off to you both G&P

  29. Sam says:

Did you guys see Reyes’s run and assist for forlan against Barca yesterday ?

Splendid player. Shame he could not do it with us.

  30. gooner-pak says:

i hoping this home kit to be outstanding one. as i dont have one. or i’ll have to wait another (probably 2) years

  31. Grimandi says:

Sources in Spain have just told me we will be getting Villa & Silva in the summer!

  32. Micky Did It 89 says:

Grimani: what source? Piquante tomato and caper?

  33. dennisdamenace says:

Grimandi – Yellow card for being a teasing git!!

  34. Pedro says:

Grimandi, sources in Spain have told me you are suseptible to fraudulent transfer stories.

Addidas in for our kit? Well, a change would be nice. I can’t stand the current kit… bland and very dull. Puma kits are pretty nice these day!

Did anyone see that Milan secured $84mill for a shirt sponsorship deal over 4 years? We got $140mill over 15!

  35. rob green says:

So have we definitely signed Chamakh. How comes we haven’t not announced it officially?

    Grimandi – pigs fly!!

  36. arsenalised says:

Grimandi:hahaha your source was drunk o something

  37. Micky Did It 89 says:

Sorry, GrimanDi sp. Your name cheers me up though. Loved the treatment you dealt out to Edgar at DB’s testimonial.

  38. Nick the Greek Gooner from Ealing! says:

Is that prick Graham Hunter, that so called ”Spanish football expert” a dirty yid? He gives it large with a big smile on his face that it’s 85% job done that Cesc will be Barca player after world cup! If thats the case i dont see how Arsenal can justify our sky season ticket prices, i’ll seriously consider my renewal. Not that no player is bigger than our club, but surely we are Arsenal and we should be telling these C##ty Spanish clubs to F###k off and then counter it with a bid for Messi. Instead we just stay silent!!

  39. arsenalised says:

Pedro:what???? Who does our deals? He\she needs to get the sack lyk now

  40. dennisdamenace says:

Sources on Doctor Who have just tole me we’re going back in time and we’re getting TH14, PV04, DB10, RP07, EP17 and TA06 all playing for us……

  41. Geoff says:

Not that we didn’t say that at the time eh Pedro!

  42. Pedro says:

    Exactly Geoff…

We never seem to get a good deal when it comes to sponsorship, shirts/kits/stadium.

  43. arsenalised says:

I didnt know our emirates deal was that bad, infact i thought a deal with the arabs was the best coz thats where the money is(middle east that is)

  44. Geoff says:

As I have said before, it doesn’t take much more than a business brain to work out a good or a shit deal.

Selling a club like Arsenal should be like falling off a log, they would have sponsors queueing up.

  45. dennisdamenace says:

On the season ticket renewal thing, both myself and my bruv (along with a number of other long term season ticket holding chums of ours) are seriously considering whether to renew or not. We’ve all had enough of AW’s bullshit lip service every summer.

We’ve decided to wait as long as we absolutely can before we commit one way or the other, basically waiting to see if he offloads yet another established player and just promotes yet more average youth players….

  46. Micky Did It 89 says:

Mate and I were trying to come up with an Arsenal Facial-Hair XI. See how you get on, that is if you are as bored as we were.
We included tashes and enormous sidebuns as well as beards and the designer stuff (Bobby P style).

  47. charybdis1966 says:

Pedro/Geoff- just what I always thought about the Em****es lot, cheating arabs.

  48. dennisdamenace says:

You know ANR have is spot on (again!!) today, this Marouan Chamakh character, is he really (to quote our learned leader) better than what we truly have?? Seriously – 9 goals this season, 13 last season! Another almost player, fucking hell i’ll give you a player who’s better than what we have David Fucking Villa, go buy him you almost manager…..

  49. dennisdamenace says:

Micky – Two words for your facial hair XI…… David Seaman!

  50. JoeBaker64 says:

    Thanks to Arseblogger for this:

  51. Micky Did It 89 says:

DDM: that’ll be the wage structure. City/Chavs would both pay Villa more than we would.

  52. arsenalised says:

DDM:ADE scored 2 goals i think b4 he came haha and he is now a fantastic player.
chamakh on the other hand is a very good player and will do the business for us if he comes

  53. tonyadamsisgod says:

Change Le Chump to Wenger please!!!!!

  54. chris says:

Someone asked about the Pompey situation:

I’d think if they go bust all their results will be struck out.
If you’re thinking of the title it’s a little bit good for Chelsea who have only played them once and scraped by 2-1 everyone else including ManCity who could win the league have beaten them twice already I think.
If you’re worried about 4th place it would help Lpool who lost to them.

  55. Musty says:

Chamakh is a wonderful player, he was lyk drogbb b4 he camd to chelsea.

  56. Micky Did It 89 says:

DDM: yip, we had him in goal. He also did the double, by making our Bad-Hair XI. Ponytail. Going back to the post war pics, there were some awsome wing-commander tally-ho type tashes, but never was the Hitler tash in fashion.

  57. dennisdamenace says:

Micky – The real problem is that we can pay, we just won’t under this current regime….

  58. John A says:

According to ANR, Mrs Wenger is quoted as saying that her husband wants to win the league without spending any money !!

How fucking true does that sound.

  59. chris says:

Just as true as if it was made up

He was the guy who said his mate’s mate had seen Dzeko at the ground when no-one else did

  60. Micky Did It 89 says:

John A: yeah, and I want a castle. Still, moving swiftly back into the real world…..And DDM, very true, only what cheeses me off, is why not cut out the transfer and wages of three hopefuls, and stick it on Villa or Torres (my choice).

  61. tonyadamsisgod says:

This is getting oh so boring. Like Danny Fullbrook said on Sunday Supplement yesterday…if you honestly believe a club like Arsenal doesn’t have money then you are deluded! He said there probably isn’t another club in the world that generates so much money on a match day, mainly due to the over inflated prices they charge for anything from a ticket to a beer.

WE HAVE MONEY!! Nearly every boardroom member has said we have money in every interview they have ever given. Its Wenger that wont spend it. His only desire in life right now is to win something major with his kids for a purely personal motive…..to be able to say ‘I told you so’. Its as simple as that.

  62. Geoff says:

    Spot on.

  63. tonyadamsisgod says:

If we didn’t have money Wenger wouldn’t have extended the contracts of 15 players since May 2009. And surprise, surprise the majority of those extensions have gone to the mediocre kids that will never make it in the 1st team!!

  64. Gunners The Stunners says:

I read in Guardian this morning that FA are thinking of introducing CL play-offs for the PL teams finishing between 4 to 7 in EPL.

So, the teams finishing between 4 to 7 will have to compete against each other in order to qualify for Champions League…

  65. tonyadamsisgod says:

The man is a petulant child and is doing nothing more than stomping his feet and throwing a tantrum. The perfect example of cutting your nose to spite your face. Wenger would rather Denilson have a brilliant game then us win the EPL because then he’d be able to say he proved everyone that doubted him wrong.

I’ve just had it out with a guy at work who is an Everton fan. he thinks its ‘strange’ that I would want Wenger out even if we won the EPL. He couldn’t understand that Wenger will only win this EPL by the failings of others. In my mind Wenger could have secured this title for us already by signing a striker and a keeper. To know that you have only half of a fit striker and to sit on it is nothing short of gross negligence!! And who pays? We do and ironically its us that pay this guys £6m wage bill.

  66. Geoff says:

I just went onto Pravda and they are selling Arsenal crowd ringtones for 3 quid a pop, they squeeze what they can out of every orifice don’t they? No shame.

I wonder if they have permission, surely the crowd voices are the crowds own copyright? Interesting one that.

  67. tonyadamsisgod says:

Gunners – Would that be the FA’s decision to make? Surely its up to UEFA who plays in their competition?

  68. goonermichael says:

Last year there was a “leaked” picture of a green shirt. What happenend to that?

  69. tonyadamsisgod says:

Geoff – My Blackberry came with one of those already preloaded on it. Its called ‘Vibrate’……. :D

  70. Dublin gunner!!! says:

Hey guys! Just wana say that liam Brady done a great job for the Irish!! And what a job he is doing at the arsenal!!

  71. Maqitlarge says:

I like that idea GtS. It will create a high pressure environment which is what the CL is.

Last time someone else qualified for CL other than teh top 4 (Everton in 2005) they bombed in the qualifying round. So they fight all season to finish top 4 and can’t even get to the group stages as they don’t have UEFA co-efficient points sothey draw someone decent. I think Everton went out to Villareal.

    Bring it on I say.

  72. Rocky7 says:

    Happy Monday peeps,

    just a quick one….

I read somewhere last week that if Portsmouth go bust all the results and points gained from games against Portsmouth become void. I don’t think this would do us any favours where the epl is concerned.

    Can someone investigate….?

  73. Maqitlarge says:

Better yet they should mimic the CL. So a mini league of 4 followed by a final between the top 2!

  74. goonermichael says:

    taig
The Dutch have some kind of play off I think

  75. Dublin gunner!!! says:

Hey just wana put this out there; my top 5 gunners off all time:
    1; bergkamp
    2: henry
    3: Brady
    4: Adams
    5: wright
    any one else agree??

  76. bnsb says:

Has anyone else notice, media is bigging up Porto already. Last time we saw that incredible hulk was a damp squib.

  77. nishanth says:

Bsnb-Without song and arshavin it will be a tough game. And wenger is sure to start denilson

  78. frichie79 says:

We havent heard much about Denilson recently, maybe Ramsey will get a start.

Q? If you dont renew your season ticket, does that mean you drop down the to bottom of the list? I think im no 13000 on the season ticket waiting list, so im hoping to be able to get one maybe before Im 68.

  79. bnsb says:

Denilson will be better in Euro contests.

  80. goonermichael says:

friche you’ll be number 12999 if ddm doesn’t renew :)

  81. charybdis1966 says:

    GoonerM – he’ll be 12998 if DDM’s Bruv doesn’t either…

  82. frichie79 says:

    so u saying, i have a chance ;) … in my lifetime

  91. raj says:

To say we have got loads of money cause we get 60000 week in week out is ridiculous as we have a major debt to pay back despite what the board say.The proof will be when AW leaves and the new manager will have fuck all to spend…Some of you should be wary in what you wish for

  92. DutchMaster10 says:

    Boooooooooooom!!!!

  97. rob green says:

raj – so why do the board and wenger keep saying we have money!!!

  98. Mark C says:

Raj – there have been many debates on here about money.

The only real facts are the annual reports Arsenal release.

Last year they had something like 90 mill in the bank – 250 mill of debt and the expected most of the flats to complete.

When they release the figures this year, it will say something like 120 mill in the bank (earning crap interest) and very little debt maybe 50 mill or even no debt.

Wenger’s comments were if we were to sign someone like Villa it would cost us 30 mill straight off. Then he wants 200k a week. So for a 5 year deal that is 80 mill. (Wages 10 mill a year)

What Wenger is also saying, is if Villa is on say 200k a week, the likes of Arshavin, Gallas, and RVP will all want to be on more.

What Wenger wants to do, is to have players who earn money in the clubs wage structure.

One thing to remember when people talk about players wages – would anybody play better if they were on more money – i.e. does earning extra money reflect in your performance on the pitch. I would say no.

  99. rob green says:

My top 5 in no order

    1; bergkamp
    2: henry
    3: vieira
    4: Adams
    5: wright

  100. Pedro says:

Raj, truth is, that wont happen.

    We’re minted.

You’ve got to look at the facts. Not what you hope is the situation.

  101. Pedro says:

    Top 5:

    1: Bobby Pires
    2: Paddy
    3: Bergkamp
    4: Ian Wright
    5: Merson

  102. Mark C says:

One more thing on Villa – whilst he is a great player – remember he is 28 – if he signs a 5 year deal, he will be worthless at the end of the 80 mill, something Wenger hates to do.

  103. Mark C says:

Slow day today – network out at work, and no debate on here !!!

In my top 5 I would have Rocky…

  104. dennisdamenace says:

Pedro – You wind up merchant!!! Where the hell is Th14 in you five, shocking, you hoping to get more hits by being controversial??? ;)

  105. Geoff says:

Raj, saying careful what you wish for is very passé and you should think of something new.

Secondly the debt has been with us now for 5 years, his transfer fund based on just EPL money should have been at least £260mil, add that to the money we got from sponsorships and the property we have sold it should well wipe out our debt by now.

They can’t keep crying debt for ever, I haven’t even mentioned the gate and TV money, if we are still in debt after all that then someone needs to explain how.

  106. choy says:

If anyone missed out reyes assist yesterday!

  107. frichie79 says:

And another thing on Villa, he is about the same size as Arshavin, there has been countless debate about why we have so many midgets in the team. Now there is no doubt he is a great finisher but hardly the imposing striker that we need, unless he were to replace someone like Eduardo/Vela/Arshavin

  108. Rob green says:

Pedro – I am not happy with your top 5 :)

    no Adams or Henry

  109. frichie79 says:

Havent seen Reyes do that in long time Choy!, but wish we could see doing that.

  110. frichie79 says:

    * Nasri

  111. choy says:

If we’ve already signed chamakh.. there is no way another striker is coming in!

  112. Rob green says:

Why have we not announced it if we have signed him!!

  113. choy says:

I think its a gentleman’s agreement between the two clubs, they will announce after the season is over!

  114. rob green says:

    We would never sign villa!!

  115. choy says:

Prospective Arsenal signing Marouane Chamakh could give manager Arsene Wenger a dilemma over his political commitments.

The People says the Bordeaux star has stunned team-mates in France – by going into politics. Chamakh has joined the Forces Aquitaine party in south west France – and is due to stand in regional polls next month.

And if the Morocco international is elected he will need to attend to political matters from London while Wenger needs him to focus on leading Arsenal’s attack next season.

Party leader Jean Lassalle said: “Marouane Chamakh has not just been made to score goals – he has things to say as well.

“He had hesitated to launch out into politics because he is going over to play football in England.

“But he has the right to get involved as an Aquitaine citizen. He won’t be the first person to work away from his constituency if he is elected. He is a bloody clever guy.”

  116. irishgunner says:

    1. Bergkamp
    2. Wright
    3. Henry
    4. Adams
    5. Pires/Ljunberg/Vieira/Keown

  117. rob green says:

Well let’s give Chamakh a chance before people start knocking him!! I have heard people on here saying he isn’t good enough already!! They said the same about vermaelen!! There is no pleasing some fans!!

  118. rob green says:

    surpised about Ljunberg irish!!!

  119. choy says:

I think he will be an excellent signing.

  120. incesc says:

    frichie

how any fan could turn down David Villa due to his size is beyond me.

Top class striker, if we have to bring in bigger players to play around him then so be it.

It would only make us better to bring one of the worlds top strikers to the club.

Never happen tho. Lets hope Chamakh is good

    5 – Rocky

The top 4 are living legends. They were the top players in their positions in the league and even the world.

Rocky was an Arsenal boy through and through, and was heart broken when he left to go to Leeds.

Lets get the lesser teams to compete in the league to get into the CL.

Remember 4th place in the league gets you to a CL qualifier.

  126. incesc says:

    6. Pires
    7. Merson

  132. goonermichael says:

If Cesc leaves without winning anything will he be remembered as a legend?

  133. goonermichael says:

George Graham won the league as player and manager

  134. goonermichael says:

That must have been a really stinky blogfart

  135. frichie79 says:

the downside of the CL playoffs, is in league where teams are already spending ludicrous amounts of money, how much more will they start to spend if they are aiming for a top 7 place….only for some team in 7th to get into the CL and crash out in the qualifiers.

I cannot recall but can anyone remember how Everton did the year they beat Liverpool to 4th?

And another thing, what if Spurs actually ever made it into the CL, we would never hear the end of it.

  136. frichie79 says:

CESC is already a legend in my eyes.

  137. Pedro says:

    DDM, Thierry who?

  138. irishgunner says:

  139. goonermichael says:

    Frichie
They lost the play off and then went out of the Uafe in the first round I think. I saw Everton shirts saying European tour at Alton Towers :)

  140. Geoff says:

Frichie, they got knocked out of the qualifiers by Villa Real!

  141. goonermichael says:

I work it with my chin like stephen Hawking Irish.

  142. goonermichael says:

    Geoff
I’ve just been give 5 big fuck off Cuban cigars. I’m saving one for you :)

  143. irishgunner says:

You are a wonder GM, a wonder. Do you talk like him too? That’s be cool.

  144. Nick says:

Taig yer 4-4 portsmouth 2-1 colchester were 2-0 up and drew 2-2 in the end :( sounds like big miss but it was close for a doubt that bet  you need to make up for it though that ching is felt ;)

  145. rob green says:

  147. Geoff says:

Michael, I’ll look forward to that mate!

  148. Micky Did It 89 says:

Pedro: bravo leaving out TH14. He had about as much true red and white Arsenal blood in him as my …..
On pure quality, then yes, probably No1.

  149. goonermichael says:

As it turns out, Saha has since signed a new contract at Goodison where he has enjoyed something of a renaissance this season.

Arsenal are said to have offered a fee in the region of £2m for the former Fulham striker, who has been showing the dazzling for of old in recent weeks – hence Moyes’ determination to sign him up on a longer contract.

£2m? no wonder they rejected it. They mst have pissed themselves

  150. Micky Did It 89 says:

    1. Adms
    2. George (Charlie)

  153. Gunners The Stunners says:

    Gooner-pak,

Sky Sports will broadcast those CL play-off as they already show Championship, league 1 & 2 play-offs every season…

  154. gooner-pak says:

NOT play off play off.. i meant CL games.. or are they guaranteed?

  155. gooner-pak says:

  157. Micky Did It 89 says:

Does this mean the the 3rd or 4th best teams from Scotland and Austria? Give me strength!

  158. tonyadamsisgod says:

Nick – I told you they weren’t my tips!! :D

  159. Gunners The Stunners says:

If AC Milan pull a win against ManU tomorrow night, I think they will be favourite to go to OT and knock them out.

Same goes with Inter v Chavs. Mourinho has great unbeaten record at home, so he will have a point to prove against Ancelotti.

It would be ideal if both ManU & Chavs get knocked out of CL at this stage…

  160. Gunners The Stunners says:

    Gooner-pak,

Sky Sports show 15 CL games over both days and ITV have got rights to show only 1 game. It doesn’t matter who plays Sky will broadcast.

  161. dennisdamenace says:

Hey Pedders – I suppose you and your mate A would have Bentner in that top five instead of TH14 because he plays our system better……..

  162. CHIPPY says:

    My Top 5 All Time

    1) Charlie George, Proper Arsenal
    2) Rocky RIP

Since he left we have won nothing.

  164. afc53 says:

It worries me slightly in the summer we are going to have to invest big in replacing possibly 4 CB Senderos,Campbell,Sylvester & Gallas this is as well as needing a GK & CF if we havnt already got Chamakh

  165. dennisdamenace says:

Hey Chippy – No room in your cult heroes for the Romford Pele?

  166. incesc says:

what about Micky Thomas for the goal that made me a gooner

  167. CHIPPY says:

    Mark C,
Loved him to bits and he was a Legend but he didnt quite make my lists,

    Im a forward lover :-)

No Vieira,Wilson,Bould,Rice The list is pretty endless !!

  168. incesc says:

    this playoff stuff is bollox.

probably wouldnt say that if I was a spud tho…

  169. CHIPPY says:

    DDM,
I thought about Romford Ray but didnt want to put him amongst that dross :-) , He was a very decent footballer and i thought it would be a bit of an insult lol

  170. Mark C says:

AFC53 – if they all go we will need 2 or 3 depending on who Wenger signs.

TV05 seems to be 1st choice, so 1 new signing would start alongside him.

Assumiming Djourou comes back to some sort of form, we will need 1 or 2 cover CB’s.

Bartley – if he impresses at Sheffield United, could be one of those players.

Bottom line is – if Gallas leaves we need a big lump to replace him.

  171. incesc says:

top five greatest goals as a fan?

  172. CHIPPY says:

Bloody Hell just realised i missed McLintock out how could i do that, You really need a whole team,

  173. incesc says:

    Or most meaningful goals.

    1. Micky Thomas
    2. Ray Parlour cup final belter (i used to take endless stick from Spuds about Parlour)
    3. Wiltord at old trafford for the title
    4. Alan Smith VS Parma for the european Cup Winners Cup
    5. Henry at the Bernebeu

  174. afc53 says:

Mark C I would like Chiellini Or Agger & Sakho as well I think we really have to tighten up the core of the team either by bringing in another DM to partner Song or buying an all out defender.

We also need to invest in a GK Loris or Akineev would be nice as well as moving some of the dead wood on Denilson,Almunia,Eboue whos contract is up

  175. afc53 says:

Incesc no DB spin against newcastle And 3rd against Leicester????

  176. tonyadamsisgod says:

most recently fabregas’s strike vs AC Milan

  179. nishanth says:

    Fabregas vs milan
Henry at home against liverpool during 2003-2004 season

  180. CHIPPY says:

incesc, You must be a young un :-) Mine

    1) Kennedy Winning the League at the Yids Carlsberg dont do Title Winners :-)

    2) Thomas

    3) Sunderland cup Final

    4) Adams v Everton that goal summed that side up poetry in motion

    5) Bergkamp v Newcastle Absolute Quality best goal id say i have ever seen from an Arsenal player

  181. Clacko the gooner says:

    Incesc

    1. Henry V Man U, the chip and volley with back to goal. You don’t save those.

    2. “It’s only Ray Parlor” V Chelsea, in the cup.

    3. Thomas V Liverpool, meant so much.

    4. Sylvinho V Chelsea, to make it 2-1 i think.

    5. Flamini V Newcastle, belter.

  182. afc53 says:

Pires chip against Villa made more special as it was schmeichel in goal!

  183. Clacko the gooner says:

Wow DDM, i also forgot about the DB one. That would go into second with all moving down a place.

  184. nishanth says:

Winterburn’s strike against chelsea was pretty good too

  185. charybdis1966 says:

Micky – agree with all of your choices except the Lovejoy special of Parlour’s; I’d swap that for Cesc’s long range bobbler at the San Siro. Who can forget the mad look in tour Catalan’s eyes as he ran towards our dug out?

  186. CHIPPY says:

DDM, Great Minds lol My mate sat behind Dabizas on the flight back to london after the game and ripped him for the entire journey home, Apparently some of the journos were pissing themselves at him explaining to the greek in a dutch accent that

Heees Swchwent Thish Waysh And Yoush Wentsh Thats Waysh

  187. afc53 says:

Chippy that Adams goal I was sat in a bar in Skegness when Grobellar walked in he was playing for them towards the end of his career and sat down facing me I had my shirt on and asked him if hed pose for a pic he said no so I asked whether he was still bitter about us beating them on the final day of the season he told me to what sounded like “FACK OFF” classic!

  188. insidealbania says:

No words do this goal justice

  189. nishanth says:

Favourite 5 players from the current squad
    1.Fabregas
    2.Robin Van Persie
    3.Vermaelen
    4.Rosicky
    5.Eduardo/Sagna

  190. CHIPPY says:

afc53 :-) Quality, Should have bunged him a tenner in a brown envelope he would have done anything then allegedly!!

  191. CHIPPY says:

Albania, Cheers, Power Technique sublime skill that goal had it all

  192. charybdis1966 says:

I thought the question was “most significant goals”, not the best ones to watch? If it was the latter then obviously DB10’s is number 1. I remember being in a pub in Bexley in May 2002 and seeing Wiltord slot in THAT rebound. I’ve not had that feeling since – the adrenaline rush, words fail me.

  193. nishanth says:

Great chance it was for us this season to win the league at spuds ground again!!!

  194. Mark C says:

Nishanth – no Arshavin in your best current players.

Also if anyone wants to see the best bergkamp goal, it was in the 3-3 against Leicester.

  195. Mark C says:

TH14′s best goal was against Man U, when we won 1 – 0 at home.

He scored a 35 yard belter.

  196. CHIPPY says:

    Mark C,
Yep that was a cracker, his one against Argentina wasnt bad either :-)

    that wiltord one is goosebumps.

    Love the bergkamp hatricks too.

we were so lucky to have dennis bergkamp what a guy.

  202. dennisdamenace says:

  203. CHIPPY says:

I miss Dennis :-( You could watch his goals for hours they were an Art form, + For a top player he never once moaned in the media about getting more money or leaving, a true pro and Fantastic Player

  204. CHIPPY says:

Looking back at them goals dosent it seem so different to what we have now, then we passed at pace with a purpose rather than slow measured movements which we have now !!

  205. dennisdamenace says:

  206. Tariq says:

The game against Leicester when Dennis scored that hat trick was the moment I knew I was definitely a Gooner. I was maybe around 11 or 12 I don’t remember the year, but I never really had a team of my own. I was a fan of Juventus, Ajax and Arsenal, but after that night..I knew there was only one team for me.

  207. Jaguar says:

    1)Dennis Bergkamp
2)There is only one Tony Adams
    3)Thierry Henry
    4)Rocky7
    5)Paddy

Wright Wright Wright doesnt deserve a place among the top five, for his loudmouth character.

  208. CHIPPY says:

Blimey Tariq youve brougt back a memory of mine i was sitting in amongst the Ajax fans for a champions league game in the Amsterdam Arena and Bergkamp got subbed and the whole ground rose to salute him the Ajax Fans loved him as much as we did will never forget that reception, It made the Hairs stand !

  209. dennisdamenace says:

  210. Pedro says:

Has someone put that Newcastle Bergkamp goal up?

  211. dennisdamenace says:

What i remember most about Dennis was the reaction of the players around, top top players like TH14, Pires, Paddy ll struck with utter wonder in their eyes when they celebrated a DB10 goal, the guy was priceless….

  212. Jaguar says:

Bergkamp was our best ever signing, and it was not made by Wenker.

  213. Jaguar says:

Anyone remember that magic ball by Bergkamp to Vieira in the final game of the invincibles season? No fucking player who has ever played football apart from Dennis could do that.

  214. Tariq says:

Indeed they did! I have a Dutch friend who grew up an Ajax fan, and he told me it didn’t matter where Bergkamp went, he always had love and respect for him. He’s my favourite Arsenal player of all time.

  215. CHIPPY says:

Pedro, Yes mate about 20mins ago,

  216. Sam says:

Bergkamp, the man with the best first touch ever ?

  217. Jaguar says:

In terms of pure skill and artistry,Thierry Henry was not half the player,DB10 was.

  218. Pedro says:

    Jaguar… not half the player?

    I think I’d disagree there!

Thierry’s ability to craft a goal about of nothing was just as amazing as Bergkamp’s.

    Bergkamp had more vision…

  219. Jaguar says:

Yeah,I think my words were a bit unfair on Thierry Henry.I agree with you.In terms of vision, technique Dennis was miles above Thierry.

  220. Pedro says:

Vision Jag… you can’t split the two on technique becuase they are two of the greatest players the league has ever seen!

  221. Pedro says:

… not to mention that Thierry smashed Bergkamp for both assists and goals.

  222. reggie 57 says:

Henry Best player in the premier ever!!

  223. Jaguar says:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2_d0Ft0LBw&feature=related

    Pedro,See the one at 3.11.

Breathtaking.I wonder,if anyone in the footballing universe could give such an assist,Equal credits to Vieira.

  224. Jaguar says:

    The assist at 3.13,rather

  225. Jaguar says:

The one which starts at 3.13 rather,Pedro.

  226. ethangunner says:

i wouldnt want too choose between either, id like them both in the current team . both a master-class by todays current crop’s standards .

the problem is we dont have them in our team anymore or many who can match that caliber …

im starting to wonder if wenger knows the meaning of world class player….

yes.yes .cesc is just starting to come good,
lets see how long he toughs it out eehh?

  227. Pedro says:

    That was a beaut!

  228. reggie 57 says:

When you look back at that team? it kinda brings it home how shit we have become!!

  229. Jaguar says:

As soon as Cesc is mentioned among the bracket of Ronaldo,Kaka he will be shipped off to Barca by Wenker.

  230. Pedro says:

Jaguar, if Wenger is good at anything… it’s keeping players he likes.

  231. rob green says:

Both world class, great players who are bothj legends!! people use the legends far to easy!! The current arsenal team doesnt not ahve one legend IMO

henry and Bergjkamp were legends. I belived they both loved arsenal and were loyal!! You can’t compare the two IMO

  232. rob green says:

Oh my god sorry my spelling was appalling!! I think I might be drunk!! I don’t know what happened!! :)

  233. Pedro says:

Rob, I think Robin, Vermaelen and Cesc have it in them to be legends.

  234. insidealbania says:

I feel a bit sad watching these videos because I dont how long I have to wait to see something that might compare to the goals above. It is a bit depressing. Its like driving a Bentley GT back then and now Fiesta.

  235. B.B.K. says:

but if bergkamp and henry didn’t have that much success here,do you think they would of stayed on to become legends or fucked off

  236. B.B.K. says:

    afternoon guys,hope everyones well…

  237. charybdis1966 says:

Jag – you seem to be implying we are becoming/are a feeder club for Barca. Well having sold them Overmars, Petit, Henry and others I see why you think that.

  238. Jaguar says:

I fink so,Pedro.Fabregas is the only player, which Wenker can showcase for his dependence on project youth. All of the rest, have been unproven, snapped up from elsewhere or just mediocre players, who wouldnt be wanted by any other club.

  239. insidealbania says:

Rob Green – I agree with you, there are no legends in the team now, all we have is Eboue AkA the PassMaster who is building some kind of ‘cult status’.

  240. reggie 57 says:

Not compared to Henry,Bergkamp, and Pires Pedro!!

  241. ethangunner says:

    ——————————-

correct, we manufacture them for selling,
it would be nice to hang on to a good player for a change …

the only way we will benefit from project youth is to keep the best and sell the rest..

    not

sell the best and keep the CRAP .

yes i know Crap doesn’t rhyme with ‘best’ , but it was more accurate
    :)

  242. Rob green says:

Pedro – Yeah maybe. Robin is always going to be to injured though to ever become an Arsenal legend. I am not sure fabregas will be around long enough. Vermaelen is a possibility

  243. Pedro says:

Reggie, they weren’t legends at 22 though… you don’t become a legend at Arsenal until you win something.

Hopefully we’ll win the Champions League, then we can all go out and buy our Denilson is God t-shirts!

  244. zeus says:

    To Anyone…….

Can you please explain our debt requirements. How can the debt be paid even in half, when I heard that it would take some 25 years to do so?

  245. Jaguar says:

There was only one Arsenal player, who was a legend at 22.Any one?

  246. reggie 57 says:

I thought you had one already Pedro !!

  247. ethangunner says:

    pedro

not sure about RVP he’s always too cac’ed.
i though maybe rosicky could be argued (by A:) )
that rosicky is world class, but you cant be going missing for 18 months at a time and still be considered as such..

unless you classify his injuries as world class …

  248. Jaguar says:

Rosicky is an injury room legend.

  249. Rob green says:

    Jaguar – Christopher Wreh?

  250. reggie 57 says:

    David Jenkins!!!

  251. Pedro says:

Ethan, I’m not sure Rosicky could ever be a legend? He isn’t spectacular enough for me.

Robin still could be if he sorts out his injuries, Rambo will be a legend, Cesc definintly will be, Eboue will be for the wrong reasons, Vermaelen for sure and probably Jack Wilshere.

Zeus, we have the option to pay chunks off the loan if we choose to.

im sure like most loans you can pay more, to reduce the debt quicker.

sure there is in place a minimum comfortable repayment plan over a long period , but you can be your ass they are paying it off quicker, what else could they be doing with the money?

growing cannabis under lights in the empty trophy room?!

If we sack Nike next year, then we should get Umbro or Admiral to do our kits and have loads of retro stylee kits, like the old England ones… They go for shit loads on eBay!

at the cost of compromising the team at every turn …

  262. rob green says:

Jaguar – what you on about mate? I am not a lover of wenger at the moment but he is one of the best manager’s in world to get rid of debt!!

  263. Jaguar says:

To rephrase it,as long as Wenker is here,we will never win anything.

We’ve got the new song rhyming similar to YNWA

WNWA-We Will Never Win ANything( obviously with Wenker in charge).

  264. Pedro says:

ManG, I think Wenger did a hit and run on Jaguars cat…

  265. ManGoonian says:

    ethan;

My point, mate, was more about Jaguar sayin under WEnger we won’t pay off the debt…

I think it is rather endearing of Wenger to be on some kinda Mother Theresa type mission to single handedly pay off the mortgage in record time…. Whether or not he has done that to the detriment of the team is another debate, innit!

He has said in the past, a few times, that being a manager is about building a team and being careful not to spend what you havent got… However, he seems to have gotten the 2 in the wrong order and appears more focused on not spending what we DO have atm!

The story (probab ly bollocks,l I know) that we tried to get Saha on loan was interesting, because we apparantly waited till the very last day of the window to try and sign him!!!

  266. rob green says:

I am all for giving Gallas a 2 year deal I just don’t like how wenger changes his policy when its suits him!! We have lost some good players because of his 1 year contract rule!

  267. ManGoonian says:

    Jaguar;

Hahaha! That aint repkrasing your original point, its completely changing it!!! @D

  268. Jaguar says:

Our transfer stories are becoming even more disgusting.Wenker offered £1.5m for a proven league scorer and was shown the middle finger by Moyes. What a joke is he turning out to be.

  269. Jaguar says:

    ————————————————

There you go matie. How about Wenker snapping up a 30+ Francophonic crock like Shitvestre ,on a two year deal next year.Thats a fat chance, considering Wenker.

  270. ManGoonian says:

    rob;

I think Pires left too soon, can’t think of anyone else??? Edu left because Dedin and co assumed he would sign on again, but got fucked off with waiting and left…

If its good enough for berkamp, then others can follow suit, IMO. However, with goalies and defenders the rule can and should be relaxed as they generally play for longer…

  271. ManGoonian says:

    Jaguar;

Why dont you just call him French???

  272. Rohan says:

Can we please stop calling Wenger Wenker. It’s frankly fecking annoying.

  273. Jaguar says:

I am not only talking about, Silvestre,Mangoonian. The incumbents could be from any francophonic countries.

  274. ethangunner says:

    ethan;

My point, mate, was more about Jaguar sayin under WEnger we won’t pay off the debt…
    ————-
    Duly noted..

my point is im not going to ogle at some average joe blow making the club’s bank balance grow, whilst continuing to neglect the football.

i would rather get some sugar daddy to come in NOW and rid us of this continual never ending nightmare! than wait another 5 years for these wankers to acknowledge they are stiffing us over ..

    and going no where fast,

i think the gap is already too large, and we let it get that way….

ok wenger did ,but we watched on like a bunch of prawns …

  275. insidealbania says:

Ethan – I would like to see us hold on to our star players too, but one of the problems is that they have no attachment to our club. They see it as many students see university, you go there to learn, once you have graduated you fuck off, especially if some company is gonna pay more. Only a few students remain and in their a uni cities (london excluded). Thats our problem and it will continue to happen I think.

  276. Del 2 says:

I hope Bergkamp comes back to our club soon what a legend

  277. Pedro says:

ManG, I think it should be means tested.

Giving a 2 year deal to a total crock then refusing to give a healthy 32 year old a deal seems silly.

Just say we did give him a 2 year deal and he done his ligaments, would any fans object to the deal? I doubt it of the player has given good service.

  278. Jaguar says:

Gallas wont be given a new deal because he has a winner’s attitude unlike Wenger, and doesnt tolerate mediocrity which Wenger is obsessed with.

  279. Pedro says:

Jaguar, let it go… seriously… hating someone wastes a lot of energy…

  280. ManGoonian says:

    Jaguar;

Your points are soooo bizarre and lack any real point, or basis in fact, they are just random vitriolic spoutings against Wenger…. But everyine knew that anyway, so why sis I bother…??? :D

  281. ManGoonian says:

    Pedro;

Wenger cannot give Silvestre a 2 year deal and refuse Gallas one… If that were to happen and Gallas left as a direct result of that happening, then he would deserve the kind of stick jolly chaps like Jaguar dish out to him…

  282. Pedro says:

ManG, it would be a crazy decision. Especially as he just resigned 35 year old campbell.

I think it’s even weirder that PHW came out to almost brag that Gallas would only get a one year deal?

  283. ManGoonian says:

    ethan;

There is no point having a so-called sugar daddy (that Usmanov cunt deffo aint one of them and I hope he hurries up and dies), unless we have a different manager fella… We have the mopney from Ade & Kolo and that aint been spent…

  284. ManGoonian says:

    Pedro;

I think what PHW said was more that Wenger hasnt approached the board to get em to sanction the 2 year deal…. YET.

I wish Hill-Wood would stop goin on with himself to the media in general and the Daily effin Star in particular!!!

  285. charybdis1966 says:

Did PHW come out with the quote about Galls in his usual favourite porno rag, the Daily Star Pedders ? Perhaps he got flummoxed by being in amongst a load of tits. If this is the case then it does make no sense at all.

  286. f4phantomphreak says:

I dont understand the contract stuff in the PL. I mean you give a player a 5 year deal and then follow that up with another 6 year deal 2 years later, but they can fly out on a contract whenever they feel like it, what gives??? In other words we just gave Cesc a new contract a little while back which he’s still under, then there’s news a new one for him is in the works, but then all the crap about him leaving in the summer to Barca, so whats the point in giving large extensions when they can just scoot off whenever they fancy, can someone please explain the reason behind this contract stuff??? I recall when a player signed a 5 year deal he was with a club for 5 years, that was that…. Anyhoo i was just wondering why everyone was getting gelled up about Fabs getting a new deal when he can just walk out on it anytime he pleases, at least I believe so, correct me if I’m wrong…

  287. Pedro says:

ManG… surprising that a man of Hillwoods education uses the Star as his mouth piece.

  288. ManGoonian says:

    F4Phan;

It’s to do with the sell on value; The shorter the time left on a deal, the easier it is for that player to fuck off/pay off his contract and the less the club can demand for him… Sumfin like that anyways…

  289. Pedro says:

Sorry Chary… bindipped your observation there! haah!

  290. ManGoonian says:

    Pedro;

Yeah, I have always found it quite weird that an old Etonian toff would associate himself with a low brow tabloid like that…?

  291. charybdis1966 says:

Great minds and all that Pedders.

  292. Maqitlarge says:

re PHW – he must have a trusted contact at the Star, someone who he knows won’t twist his words to sex up the story. Thats more important that what paper its in. And he knows everyone will pick up on the story anyway.

He’s old bastard but he’s not completely stupid!

  293. Gunners The Stunners says:

I know one thing for sure that every Gooner will be supporting AC Milan tomorrow night… :D

  294. goonermichael says:

Gallas is French so it doesn’t add up. Walcott is English and he’s pants so it doesn’t add up that way either (the Francophonic thing)

  295. ojaimo says:

    Ethan says:
i’m sure like most loans you can pay more, to reduce the debt quicker.

sure there is in place a minimum comfortable repayment plan over a long period , but you can be your ass they are paying it off quicker, what else could they be doing with the money?

growing cannabis under lights in the empty trophy room?!

    another way to maximize profits
    ————————————————-

    classic! I can’t stop laughing.

  296. SUGA3 says:

    afternoon all ;)

they are definitely growin pot in the trophy cabinet!

that would explain why they are so relaxed – my mate called me during the halftime of the ManYoo game and laughed how ‘relaxed’ I was

  297. insidealbania says:

And by the looks of it Song has tested some of the crops growing in the cabinet

  298. Pedro says:

“The economic situation in Italy, worse than the others, forces a new need to pay great attention to youth. This will be our line for the future,”

    Milan President

  299. ManGoonian says:

    Pedro;

They aint the only club goin down that route are they…

    goonermichael;

I wouldnt even bother trying to point out the flaws in jaguar’s thinking fella… Its pure randomness based solely on a hatred fixated on a chronic Francophonic hypocrite…

  300. ManGoonian says:

So, there will be no Eastmond for our CL game this week then. He is playing for the reseves tonight, along with JET, Coquelin, Sunu, Frimpong and BARAZITE! Well, thats good news Nacer is getting back to fitness…

  301. Big Raddy says:

    Evening Gents.

Some fantastic vids on today. Loved every one

  302. ManGoonian says:

I really hate to slate Arsenal players, if they are trying their heart out, thats all you can ask of em and if they aint good enough, then it is down to the management to change things…

Why am I saying all this? Because, it seems clear now, that Denilson will be playing the Song role Wednesday and I truely hope he comes out of the malaise that has seemingly engulfed him since his return from injury…

He was doing well, along with Song and Diaby at the beginning of the season and he really needs to find some form again…

Otherwise, he might just well find himself too far down the pecking orderto be worth hangin onto…

Then again, maybe Ramsey will play Song’s position and Denilson won’t even get a game???

    In a Bit….

  303. Pedro says:

ManG, Denilson does ok against teams who try and play football.

I think the problem fans have with Denilson is that he didn’t appear to be trying in the last few games.

I’d stick Rambo in there… or Eboue.

  304. Pedro says:

    Evening Raddy!

  305. Sean says:

    None story.

The picture is a fake and Arsenal have never confirmed the length of the Nike deal.

  306. dennisdamenace says:

    Evening Gents………and Pedro ;)

  307. Mayank says:

    Evening all…
Denilson playing DM again is he? Oh goody.
RvP’s due back end of march, so for 2 out of our ‘big’ 3 matches we’ll have him. If we win the easier games dare I say we might get a shot in the arm when we’re most likely to falter?

  308. Pedro says:

‘Arsenal’s £6m-per-year shirt sponsorship deal with Emirates, which runs until 2014 and its £8m-per-year deal with Nike, until 2011 are much smaller than Manchester United’s agreement with AIG, which is worth £56.5m over four years. ‘

2011 Sean. I believe you meant ‘non’ story. It wasn’t a non-story, it was a story about the fake kit pic and a potential new deal with Addidas.

  309. Pedro says:

DDM, you can refer to me as a gent on the blog, Sir in public of course ;-)

  310. Jaguar says:

Mayank was one of those people who had the impression that Denilson was better than Darren Fletcher.

  311. Pedro says:

Just in case you wanted MSM confirmation…

    http://tinyurl.com/ybfve7m

  312. Pedro says:

Mayank… you know the rules… due back in March means due back in April.

  313. choy says:

Where is the pic with the new kit?

  314. Pedro says:

    Youngguns

  315. Mayank says:

I’m still under that impression Jaguar… If we win the PL this year does that mean Song is better than Essien, or Almunia VDS.

Pedro, he’ll be back on time, I can feel it, odds are that over time some injury has to go the other way.

  316. choy says:

but its actually the fake one of this :

    http://i46.tinypic.com/o85iqh.jpg

  317. Pedro says:

    Mayank, no and no! haha!

  318. Mayank says:

What a shit time to be blogging. We’re not close enough to the leaders to start getting moist, not far enough to spew bile and now Choy takes away the only piece of controversy we had.

  319. choy says:

    Haha… what about porto?

They are on an unbeaten run! Thoughts about the game?

  320. Alex says:

Any links for the reserve game?

    its live on chavs TV

  321. Mayank says:

Seriously can’t get excited about Porto, don’t think we can beat them at the Dragao(spe) no way they’ll beat us here… Or should i say there?

  322. Pedro says:

    Really Mayank?

I think we’ll do them 2-0 away. 2-0 at home.

  323. ryan says:

lovely video with lovely music showing that night at the arsenal. fantastic!

  324. Mayank says:

Seriously, Porto to not even score at home? Anyway, barely matters, I’ll get excited about the CL after Man U and Chelsea get knocked out.

  325. SFOGooner says:

what’s with seaman saying almunia has an “aura”? whatever that means .. Maybe it is true on the training field but certainly not in games ..

  326. Alex says:

Eastmond and Merida not playing for ressies so will prob be in the squad for Porto

  327. Jaguar says:

Clownmoonia has an aura from the opposition striker’s point of view

  328. incesc says:

we should be able to outscore porto if we play all out home and away.

    Lets play to our strenghs

  329. goonermichael says:

maybe he means aurora from beauty and the beast

  330. Samir says:

    Legend or what??

“It turned out that I could play against Manchester United, but after that game I had some more problems, so I went for another scan,” the player revealed, according to the Press Association.

“We could see then that there was a big bruise on the bone, and that’s all – so it is painful but that can be controlled with medicine and when it is not broken, you can’t do too much wrong.

“It is not a big problem to play – yes it is still there and will take some time to go away, but it is not dangerous.”

Vermaelen also promised that the Gunners would battle until the very end of the season in their bid to end the trophy drought at the Emirates by capturing the Premier League crown.
“We will keep fighting to the end as a team, that is all we can do,” he added.

“The important thing is to stay together. When you lose, it is easy to say it is his fault or his fault, but I think it is important to remain as a team and a unit.

“We will battle until the last moment of the season.”

  331. gambon says:

Id be shocked if we beat Porto away, but also fairly shocked if we dont go through.

  332. Alex says:

Luke Freeman (remember him?) scores, JET assist, 1-0.

  333. f4phantomphreak says:

Thanks ManGoonian for the info on the contracts in the PL, I really appreciate someone (yourself) explaining this situation for me, I totally get it, again thanks bro’

  334. SUGA3 says:

Chav TV is showing the ressies…

    gee, thanks Arsenal

  335. choy says:

Porto away is going to be tough.

A score draw will be good enough.

  336. SUGA3 says:

especially with everyone’s favourite Brazilian playing DM…

however, I hope he will get dropped and Eastmond will play…

  337. NW5 Gooner says:

One thing that pisses me off at the Emirates now is after the final whistle, it’s adverts then final scores from around the grounds. On Weds night, when we were desperately waiting to hear whether Chelsea and Man U had dropped points, there was an Emirates Advert, A nike advert and an O2 ad. a full 90 seconds before the scores came up. Highbury it was the reverse

  338. Jaguar says:

A 0-0 draw would be better.

  339. Samir says:

    Predicted squad’s for Porto?
    I’d go with;

    ……….Almunia……….
    Sagna–Gallas–Vermy–Clichy..
    ..Fabregas..Eastmond/Nasri..Diaby..
    ..Walcott–Bendtner–Rosicky..

    Subs from;
    Fabianski
    Nasri/Eastmond
    Eduardo
    Campbell
    Ramsey
    Eboue
    Vela/Denilson/Traore/Merida

  340. ManGoonian says:

    f4Phantom;

    No probs bruv!

Alex; Nicde work with the reserves updates fella. And I definitely remember Freeman, he is gonna be a top player, mark me words!!

Gooner Talk swore blind they had the confirmed line up tonight and Eastmond was in it…. Well, if that aint the case, then he might get on tomorrow…?

  341. ManGoonian says:

    Samir;

I think nasri could do a job in the DM role vs Porto… He doesnt shirk from the dirty stuff, likes a tackle and tracks back and is full of beans…

  342. choy says:

no jaguar.. 1-1 is better with the stupid away goal rule!

  343. choy says:

nah MG.. nasri is piss poor at defending and tracking back!

Rosicky is better at tracking back, not that i’d play him there!

  344. ritesh says:

I think Denilson will have a good game against Porto.

I am convincing myself to think that

Shit…its too difficult, he cant have a good game.

  345. ritesh says:

    Choy,

In a 4 3 3, Both Nasri and Rosicky do not fit in the midfield

  346. Samir says:

Yerr MG, you remember that stage where Wenger was going on about Nari being a great DM then days later he had an interview going on abaout it too….
He could be the short term solution…

Walcott should start also imo. CL games are more open, he usually plays very well in it!

  347. Samir says:

Yer MG, you remember that stage where Wenger was going on about Nari being a great DM then days later he had an interview going on abaout it too….
He could be the short term solution…

Walcott should start also imo. CL games are more open, he usually plays very well in it!

  348. Samir says:

    HULK v Denilson…

    Only one winner there!

  349. ManGoonian says:

    choy;

Oh my days fella! What you been freebasin??? Nasri can deffo do a job there… And to say he doesnt track back is bollocks…

  350. ManGoonian says:

ERm, but Hulk is a striker Samir!

  351. ManGoonian says:

    ritesh;

Course they fit in… And in CL games, we have more chance of playing them in there than in the Premier League…

  352. choy says:

wasn’t nasri playing DM last time around when we played the mancs?

  353. choy says:

why the fook would the next “zidane” be playing the holding role?

I think its going to be diaby and denilson alongwith fab!

  354. ritesh says:

    MG

He does track back…a few strides, until he realises he is not a good tackler and lets the guy run away.. Cesc also does that sometimes.

The true DMs are Song / Diaby.

Rosicky has character. If you go past him, he will run and hassle till he gets the ball back or send the guy to taste the turf.

  355. ManGoonian says:

    Samir;

I think for one off games, against certain opposition, almost all the players could do a job there! IF, they are prepared to get stuck in, track back, yadda yadda… Phil Neville played there FFS! :D

  356. choy says:

exactly.. I would rather have denilson do the defending than nasri!

  357. SUGA3 says:

    ritesh,

how is Diaby a DM? his favourite position is a support striker and the further down the field you put him, the less effective he is, simple as…

  358. Alex says:

    2-0 Sunu, Freeman assist.

  359. ritesh says:

How come we offered 2M only for a guy like Saha when we are struggling without a striker!

We paid some 10M for Walcott!!!

  360. choy says:

Phil Neville was never an attacking player!

  361. ManGoonian says:

    ritesh;

IF a player playing in the DM role, (or anywhere really) cannot be bothered to track back, or gives up (can you guess where this is goin?) and let’s oppo players run into our box, etc… Well, I thinki they need a good talkin to!

Nasri, last season, playing mainly wide right, admittedly, worked his knackers off defensively…

  362. SUGA3 says:

    ritesh,

here is AW’s valuation for you ;)

  363. ritesh says:

    Suga

Her just has to stand there. His physical presence allows him to get the ball back easily. Watch his recent games, he was more alert to defensive duties.

You are right though that he is more of a natural attacking midfield.

  364. ManGoonian says:

    choy;

Stop messin with my brain dude!!!

  365. ritesh says:

He must have proposed to pay in instalments then Suga.

Plus a clause linking the instalments to the sale of property with an option to default if the sale does not occur.

    ;-)

  366. ManGoonian says:

    Suga3;

No offecne, but Diaby has added a more defensive edge to his game, this season. You know, when most on here were saying how shite he had been? They couldn’t see the fact he was doing a more rigid and disciplined role…

I remember saying how good he had been and being told he was shite…

  367. choy says:

 nasri is an attacking player! he’s got little defensive abilities!

  368. ritesh says:

    MG

    What about our beloved Cesc?

  369. Eastmond has been pulled from playing for the reserves tonight, so does that means Song is definately out? Porto are lethal in transition or counterattacks and if we are forced to play Denilson who doesnt track runners then AW will have to adopt the same tactics used against Liverpool with Diaby sitting with Song & Cesc just ahead as opposed to one DM, one box-to-box player & Cesc the playmaker.

  370. ManGoonian says:

    Alex;

Great work dude! Sunu will be a top player for us, mark my words!!!

    Ritesh;

    Who says we offered £2m for Saha? Playing Devil’s Advocado;

His contract was up in June 2010 at the time, he is over 30 and has a history of being a crock too…

  371. ManGoonian says:

    choy;

Stop it!!! I can’t take it any more!!! Hahahaha!

  372. ManGoonian says:

    ritesh;

What about the golden child Cesc???

  373. choy says:

No need to go all out attack porto.

They are the home team, we just need to be defensively strong and catch them on the break!

  374. gambon says:

Nasri got torn a new one against Chelsea at home last season and hasnt played centrally since, rightly so.

We do need another DM, as competition for, and an alternative for Song.

  375. SFOGooner says:

atleast the reserves can beat the chavs!. I am sure that is because there is no drogba jr.

  376. ManGoonian says:

Surely IF Denilson fails to track runners, then that must have been spotted by now???

Right, let’s have everyone’s team’s for the Porto game please…???

  377. ritesh says:

    Errr…papers.

True he is often crocked, but he is in the form of his life and if 2M …or 4M…can give us 10 goals before the end of the season, why not.

The point is we really could have done with a guy like him. He is a top dog when he is playing.

  378. ManGoonian says:

    gambon;

Ah ha! Tnaks for playing into my hands! You fell for it!!!

We aint playing the chavs are we???

    Is it doomer time again?

  379. ritesh says:

    yeah Yeah …..Toure?

Apparently we did not sign him before cause of work permit issues.

  380. choy says:

    Almunia

    Sagna Gallas Verm Clichy
    Fab Diaby Denilson(Eastmond)
    Nasri Nikki B Eddie

  381. ManGoonian says:

    Choy;

True fella… We just need to play it simple and keep em quiet for 20 minutes or so and shut the home crowd up! This gung ho, leave no fucker back attitude has been a real revelation of late aint it!!!

    No need for that bollocks…

  382. ritesh says:

    Coy

Agree for all except Nasri. I would start with Rosicky. He is more technical and thinks faster. Porto are a highly technical team.

  383. SFOGooner says:

    choy,

Now all the arsenal players(including centerbacks) are taught to play near the opposition’s D and run back to defend ..

The CL final run was entirely built on a strong defense. Not sure how/why wenger and the kids forgot that along the way ..

Maybe it was the work of the defensive coach we had at that time ..

  384. gambon says:

    ManG

Not doomer time, just pointing out Nasri aint a DM, just like Messi aint a CB, Vernon Kay aint good at covering his tracks, and Almunia aint a goalie!

  385. Alex says:

choy, rather rosicky in for Nasri.

Wenger seems to really rate Eastmond but I doubt he’ll play him in a big game like this so will be Denilson

  386. choy says:

exactly.. we are far too attacking minded!

everyone wants to score in our team!

  387. ManGoonian says:

    Al
    Eboue – Sol – Vermilli – Clichy
    Cesc – Eastmond – Diaby
    Rosicky – Bendy – Nasri

I would play Sol, coz I think he can do a job and Gallas needs a breather, IMO…

  388. ritesh says:

Liam Brady is returning full time to Arsenal.

What does that guy do? he looks after our defense?

  389. choy says:

I thought rosicky would be knackered

  390. choy says:

    Youth development :)

  391. ritesh says:

    Gambon

    What is Almunia :-)

  392. ManGoonian says:

    gambon;

I know fella…. BUT, in one off games, against the likes of Porto in the CL, Nasri and others COULD do that job, IF they do the basics right.

I was really impressed with nasri last season and part of that was down to his defensive work.

Maybe Eastmond will be that competition for Song that he needs? I hope so…

  393. Alex says:

Finished 2-1 to us against Chavs, top of the reserves table.

  394. ritesh says:

Steve Bould could have done a job on that defense.

  395. ManGoonian says:

    ritesh;

He does the legendy stuff… He has an aura, I tell theee!

  396. ManGoonian says:

    Alex;

    Thanks mate…

We are top of the reserve and U18 leagues then… Cool!

  397. gambon says:

    ritesh,

There isnt really a word/phrase that describes what Almunia does for the team. The closest in thing i can think of in the english language is “court jester”.

  398. ritesh says:

    MG

Eastmond is too lightweight and lacks experience.

We need guys like Yeah yeah … Toure. or other established monsters in midfield to breath down his neck. When you look at that Barca midfield, no matter why the are top notch.

  399. ritesh says:

    Gambom

Alclownia is not far from that.

  400. ManGoonian says:

IF Almunia can reporduce the form he showed for most of last season, then that will be good enough for me… That hasn’t looked like happening however, but you gotta have a dream…

  401. ManGoonian says:

    ritesh;

Too lightweight? Per-lease man! No he aint! Maybe playing games might give him some, erm, experience too…. What do you think???

  402. gambon says:

I actually think Eastmond will be a good player, but he will benefit more from a full season on loan than playing a few games for us.

    Sign Fellani I say.

  403. eboue says:

i will be wearing the kit next season dont worry my fans

  404. ritesh says:

His aura is so dense it weighs on him, masks his vision, transform from Almunia to Clownmunia.

  405. What i would like:

    Sagna – Gallas – Verm – Clichy
    Cesc – Eastmond – Diaby
    Rosicky – Bendy – Eduardo

    but AW will play:

    Sagna – Gallas – Verm – Clichy
    Cesc – Denilson – Diaby
    Nasri – Bendy – Eduardo

  406. ManGoonian says:

    ritesh;

Yes, coz players who were on the verge of leaving barca for not playing too often will be happy to play 2nd fiddle at Arsenal won’t they???

  407. choy says:

eboue.. you starting ? or is sagna?

  408. ritesh says:

    MG

Lightweight compared to Song, Diaby and Yeah yeah…even Lampard or Fletcher I think.

They would brush him aside. We need a monster.

Fellini…. good commitment when playing under Moses… Wenger would transform him into a librarian in no time…and give him a hair cut too!

  409. ManGoonian says:

Eastmond, Coquelin and maybe Frimpong as well would benefit greatly from a season loan next year…

  410. eboue says:

choy the boss will tell us tomorrow he is still deciding but i think bacary will start.

  411. ManGoonian says:

    Ritesh;

It isnt all about being big fuckers mate…. Its about more than that…. Fellaini would be sent off every game if he played for us! Song has 9 bookings already and he has only made about 15 tackles!!!

  412. ritesh says:

    MG

Very true, a difficult one. But if he is good enough, Song or Diaby on the bench and he plays.

Besides we play so many matches, we could even afford to have a better line up in the cups.

  413. ritesh says:

    9 bookings for 15 tackles….

Now that you say that, I realise he cant tackle…. Geoff was right all the time then….

Denilson is the tackle master ;-)

  414. choy says:

tell the CB and the DM whoever starts to defend first before attacking!

    all the best eboue!

  415. ritesh says:

    I love Eboue..Boue

Great attitude, great commitment…and present in big matches.

I even like the dives. But please practice on the expressions after the dive….watch videos of Stevie G and Rooney for reference.

  416. ManGoonian says:

    Ritesh;

Its more due to refs giving our players yellow cards for fuck all mate!

  417. ritesh says:

refs are biased….cant believe we got so few penalties this time.

We need foreign refs. …. refs from France. That would spare us having to recruit a tackler. Tackles are not allowed in France. You cant touch your opponent when running. And you cant stand in front of the keeper on corners.

Yeah, we need a french ref.

  418. ritesh says:

Am off guys, its 1.23 am here.

  419. SUGA3 says:

    French refs?

    jeez, imagine all this hatred…

  420. ritesh says:

    I tell you Suga

These guys in France simply love Arsenal….and they hate, really hate physical teams.

  421. ritesh says:

    nite all.

  422. SUGA3 says:

I know that – I was referring to the hatred of the other teams and their supporters – Fat Sam’s rants would be something to behold…

  423. Alex says:

Falcao needs to be watched, complete striker, having a great season, 20 in 26. Hulk aswell, Verm should be able to handle them.

  424. David says:

    Dennis Bergkamp.

Cant say enough about DB10. And i think the whole Legends pick with Henry, Bastin etc etc without DB10 is a disgrace.

Henry beats Bergkamp in numbers. Certainly not in quality.

  425. David says:

Bidding 2m for Luis Saha at the 11th hour on deadline day.

If that isnt the epitome of a joke. I dont know what is.

  426. David says:

We had better get busy this Summer.

If we are adding CHamakh for free…we best be adding another striker in there for competition and injuries sake. Our defence will be in shambles.

And i worry that when Cesc comes back from the WC. Not sure if he’d want to be back playing along side Song and Denilson again.

  427. ManGoonian says:

If it is true David, it is pretty effin lame mate, true dat!

  428. ManGoonian says:

    David;

The midfield 3 will be cesc. Song. Diaby.

Thats been fine when they have played together, for me…

If Chamakh comes in, then I can’t see how signing another striker makes sense either?

  429. gambon says:

I love DB10, my favourite Arsenal player, but Henry was a level above him.

  430. ManGoonian says:

The summer is a long way off yet, tho, and we might be signing new players in the hazy, euphoric glow of last day title clinching celebrations!!!

  431. SUGA3 says:

    zut alors, Hulk?

    too physical

  432. David says:

Im already looking forward to the summer MG

The team didnt improve much from last year imo.

Diaby has become extremely important to us. Song as well.

But the team as a whole hasnt improved much from last season.

  433. ManGoonian says:

Yeah, well it has been a season of what ifs in some respects…

  434. Gooby says:

hahahah french refs, they are horrible.

you can’t watch a game, it stops every 15 seconds for fouls. stupid ref are part of the premiership being spectacular

  435. ManGoonian says:

If the refs were consistently shite, I could handle that, but the way they let the England players get away with shite is a real pisser…

    Anyhoo, thats yer lot!

    Laterssss

  436. choy says:

Sol Campbell was last night placed on standby for a remarkable Champions League return with William Gallas a doubt for tomorrow’s trip to Porto.

Gallas missed yesterday’s training session at London Colney after aggravating his long-standing back problem.

And while Arsene Wenger expects the French defender to pull through and make the flight to Portugal, Campbell is in line to play if Gallas does not recover.

It would represent a massive test for the 35-year-old Campbell, whose last taste of Champions League football saw him score the opening goal in Arsenal’s 2-1 Final defeat by Barcelona in 2006.

Campbell has made two appearances for the Gunners since signing on a short-term deal last month, starting the FA Cup defeat at Stoke and then replacing the injured Thomas Vermaelen in the goalless draw at Aston Villa.

The former England man’s fitness levels have surprised Wenger and the Arsenal boss does have faith in the veteran if required.

Gallas’ problem was the last thing Wenger wanted, however, with Andriy Arshavin and Alex Song both set to stay behind when Arsenal fly to Portugal and a further doubt over Tomas Rosicky.

Arshavin has already ruled himself out, targeting Saturday’s game with Stoke to return after the hamstring injury he sustained against Liverpol, while Song is suffering from a knee ligament problem.

Striker Eduardo and French midfielder Samir Nasri are both expected to be fit after coming through yesterday’s session unscathed but Wenger will have an anxious 24 hours before the Gunners jet out to Portugal after this morning’s training session at London Colney.

  437. ManGoonian says:

    choy;

Woah! I was right then! Gallas needs a breather! Play Sol Weds, he will do fine…

  438. [...] The new kit and who will be wearing it! So yesterday saw a bunch of blog sites show the new kit, all red and Nike’s last one apparently, hmmmm, first of [...] [...]

  439. ethangunner says:

    MG

i agree with you there , sol is a professional,
he will never let you see him sweat.

im not worried about 90% of the players just big al . and denilson being given a run ….

the away leg will be a tough 1 , we will go there and be cautious with a 4-5-1 i s’pose…

control the midfield-control the game ..
it wont be a cracker of a game.im sure they know they (porto)need to score at least 2 to be in with a chance..

but the lads will hold possession and kill the game off.

but anythings possible with big al between the sticks

  440. ethangunner says:

  441. Confidentgoner says:

    Grovers,

I wonder if you have noticed how narrow we seem to play. Against a technical team, we would get found out and be hit on th counter. That happened with ManU and Chelsea, without Wenger learning. We need to pa a team that has a chance of winning and het our confidence back for the return leg and the league games.
