Ok no game, why? It’s FA cup weekend, but surely we could have got a game in? It would have been good to watch us in the FA Cup this weekend but we’re not in it, we all know why, so there’s no point in going over old ground, let’s just hope that Stoke can kick the northern chavs out of it, that will bring a much needed smile to my boat-race.
So it seems that we have no Arshavin or Song for the Porto game, having no Song doesn’t bother me, we have Eastmond that can cover, if he plays Denilson, we have problems, so I hope like hell it’s Eastmond.
It will be interesting to see what Pedro does with his 7.5 shoe-in for Song though, I expect he’ll still give them, it’s difficult to erase them from his pre-written match reports. Meooow!
Losing Arshavin mat not be a bad thing either, it will force him to play Theo and will give our little Russian doll a much needed rest, I wouldn’t underestimate Porto as I think they are a good team and have given us a few problems in the past, in fact they were favourites to beat the Mancs last year and if it wasn’t for Ronaldo scoring from inside his own half, they would have done.
I think we’ll have enough in the tank to get a result, but to be honest the FA cup has always been a cup I’ve wanted more (than the ECL) and like the manager I believe 3rd spot is the biggest achievement and that’s what I’m concentrating my supporting efforts on.
We aren’t far off season ticket renewal and many people I know are not renewing, will I? I’m not sure, to be honest going to Arsenal on a very cold winters night is bad enough, getting through the train stations after being herded into lines by the over zealous old bill is another, but giving up my time to watch us when we have no chance of winning something in February, is what makes me think hard about it.
For those of you that haven’t done it, try it first before you give me your opinion of how you would die to get a ticket.
Before anyone reminds me we are still in both competitions, save your breath, to progress in the ECL we’ll be meeting the mancs or the chavs again and as we have bought no one, we’ll get spanked again, these days even my wild and carefree expectations have gone.
6 good hidings in our last 7 meetings in under 2 seasons between them, have taught me hope is dumb.
Add to that, if it’s not on Sky, it’ll be on a feed somewhere, and there’s only so much I will put up with, if we were all in the same boat I would say it’s the Dunkirk spirit, but when the boss gets a £2milion bonus for coming third, I’m thinking hmmm, it’s a bit one way this ‘trust me’ game.
Anyway, I, like so many others have a couple of months to ponder, so we’ll see. I sometimes get people on saying they would get a season ticket if they could, sure they would, until you offer them, we had two seasons on here last term and had no takers and quite often we get left with spares for the big games, Liverpool being one of them.
Anyway, let’s all cheer for Stoke Grovers, it could have been us eh!

Early Post?
boon
Let’s hope the players rest and do not pick
up an injury in training.
Rambo and theo to start in porto
Abouuuuuuuuuuuuuu Diabyyyyyyyyyyyyy!! – everyone’s favorite frenchman has been a revelation this season.
top 10
Have a little more patience, Denílson Pereira Neves, will be revelation of next season
Geoff, sounds like it really is time for you not to renew. Don’t you like anything about going to the games? I love it and can’t imagine not doing it.
Top 10?
‘shoe-in’ – thought its spelt ‘shoo-in’ ?
Chozzer, I hate going and leaving, if you could beam me in, perfect.
It’s like going on holiday, if you took out the airport security, it would be perfect.
Oh for fuck’s sake, I’ve been talking to myself on yesterday!
Ha, ha, easy done Micky!
Whoop YES! Top 10. About fukin time.
As I was saying, would’nt it be a shame if Chelsea had to go to a replay, while picking up an injury or two.
1st!
yea, it is shoo-in. Common mistake that
Morning All! I’m up and about very early to-day (Saturday for God sake!!!) as I have two male colleagues from work due any moment to help put op three fence panels. B&Q delivered them early this morning, a lovely lovely African man delivered the panels AND helped me drop them into the garden. I was dying to ask him from which African country , but restrained myself. What I am trying to say is how refreshing it was to have such a helpful man who had no problems giving a ‘lady’ a helping hand. Well Geoff, why not aim for 2nd spot? I reckon with a bit of luck, Chavs dropping a few points, we could do it. (I reckon Man U will win the PL). As for the CL, I do have a slight concern like you, don’t reckon we’ll get passed the Semis. BUT, I still ‘believe’….. and as for season ticket renewal, I am a bit like you too Geoff, not sure at this moment what I’ll do at the end of season, things change and when the time comes, I’ll probably renew.
Why can’t one of the young dudes on here get their shit together and hook up with one of the charming and shapely birds working at the Che (Commodante)?
Think of the perks. Cool one’s lined up before and after. Up-graded bar snacks. Then she could drive you home. Sometimes I dispair of the youth of today.
Geoff: have to disagree with you on the CL thing. Its the one I want most before I die. Ok, so we are not good enough on paper, and I agree Utd and Chavs would beat us, but as we all know, shit happens. They could both go out this round, then well….
Morning all!
Geoff, you have your reasons, but had I lived in London I would not hesitate to renew. Not because of the fuckers running the club, but for the Arsenal itself.
Skandi finishing 3rd was Wenger’s bit, I was being bitchy!
Micky, everytime I’ve been there it’s 10 deep outside and I hate queueing so staying in club level afterwards is fine, but I leave an hour after the final whistle and still queue for 20 minutes at Arsenal station, it’s bollocks.
Micky
you forgot to add.
Then she drives you home to her incestuous, lesbian twin sister
Micky, I didn’t say I’d kick it out of bed!
Bozin, that’s what they all say, when you staring at giving up £5k a year and watching Wenger rub his hands together, spending fuck all and dissing all the cups, you think why? All I’m doing is making it possible to extend all these kids contracts.
And giving Wenger a fat bonus. I support Arsenal, not him. Remember how upset everyone got when GG borrowed 400k? Wenger gets £8mil a year to finish 3rd and buy no-one.
Geoff: Its a 15 min walk, but no waiting/queueing at Finsbury Park. Also, you have Victoria line as well as Piccadilly.
As for Che, yes you are right, but I left at final whistle weds, from upper A, and still had choice of three bar staff. It seemed to take a long time to decide on what I wanted! Sad old git.
Skandi:he is probably from kenya.we are very helpful down here, especially to the ‘ladies’
geoff:how can losing song nt bother u? We are going to porto ffs Eastmond is gonna get slaughtered out there in the ECL Wilderness
GoonerM: morning, you equally sad old git!
morning
spot on, Geoff: it’s about time AW earned his fat bonus, eh?
Can’t… Write…
morning
————clown————
-eboue–gallas—verminator-clichy
—–fabregas–eastmond-diaby—
—–rosicky–bendtner–nasri—-
that’s a good team imo but i think wenger will put denilson instead of eastmond
Thanks for that Rohan, Geoff’s done it twice, so I was starting to doubt myself!
Are CL knockout games always cat A games? The eeporto tickets are expensive
Morning
and yes, he’s gonna play the ‘Better Than Shocking Keita Great Lego Haired One’ no way Eastmond will start, which is a shame…
BTSKGLHO?
Its gonna b one long boring wkend without arsenal.fucking stoke.
it’s not ‘fucking Stoke’, arsenalised…
Geoff, I am a season ticket holder and I feel that the uptake on this years renewals will be intersting. There are several “patrons”, shall we say, that are uncertain whether to renew. This has a lot to do with current prices and value for money we are getting at the moment. Add that to Wengers magnificent PR job (coming 3rd more important etc), many are saying enough is enough. I will probably give it one more season, but there comes a breaking point when ticket prices become unafordable.
I have been going to Arsenal since 1958, and have been an S/T holder since 1974, so how hard is my decision going to be? Thanks, Wenger.
Slim my comments don’t count mate, so it was better than you thought!
Arsenalised those wetbacks will roast Song, he has no pace, no loss to me mate!
Wasnt the discussion that Song is better than Keita not Denilson?
Suga3:haha Oh its stoke to me.
Geoff:he is faster than cesc(i think).dont here u complaining about him.
I think A said Denilson was better than Maradonna not Keita
Rohan, I may be wrong, but I think A certain someone said he would have Denilson over Keita and a few others
Arsenal and season ticket renewals: its the old 80:20 business rule. 80% profits from 20% of sales. What will really hurt AFC, is when corporate sales drop. They are a massive % of sales revenue. I saw many empty seats in the boxes weds.
Haha maradonna vs neves classic.
I think titi is the bestest player to ever exist, pele got nothin on king titi
titi camara?
let me put it this way: I am looking forward to my rocketing hike up the season ticket queue…
Oh crap
no football this weekend !
thanks Arsene !
ethan,
frankly, we need an away game at the council house today like a hole in the head
sounds like the Australian local league
well like you said at least me dont look like MONKEYS going down to city …
that would of probably been the likely scenario…
knowing wengers past practices @ the FA cup ,
maybe your right…. its a blessing ….
man shitty have got the right attitude.
try and win ANYTHING on the board !
that’s how success starts snowballing…
and starting small is the key ….
I have been roped into going to Southend United v Tramere today. Roots Hall is one of the coldest, most miserable stadiums in the football league. And that’s in August. I am so looking forward to freezing my nads off today. Still, at least you can stand and f*ck and blind and not have the Stasi threatening you with a spell in the Gulag. Oh, and the pub next to the ground sells Stella. Things are looking up already.
How much do the season tickets cost guys? I know it varies depending on the level, but does someone have a listing or something?
Geoff, 5k seems a lot, and I see your point. Not just for the money, but how this policy has made you feel about the Arsenal. Reading JoeBaker69′s post, just makes me feel sad about how long life fans and supporters feel betrayed by the club.
I hope things change soon, and we can all enjoy happy glorious days
It’s 5k?? really, that’s outrageous. How much are Chelsea’s and United’s?
much needed rest for our bruised and battered squad. could turn out to be a godsend.as for season ticket rant , i am in total agreement with your analysis. i bought a Gold Coast United season ticket and have not even attended all matches for various reasons, but have always managed to catch every game on satellite weather it be live or replayed also shorter lines at kiosk at home and i don`t miss any action if thirsty or in need of toilet break. can`t believe liverpool tickets weren`t snapped up though. i live in australia and will be in london from the 30th of april and will gladly take a leftover rovers, and fulham ticket if you happen to have any.
Haha still, really… how funny was Redknapp talking about us stuttering and th*m finishing above us… days later and I’m STILL rolling around pissing myself!
He should get both Le Chump hands down, if he doesn’t have it already. Possibly for the rest of the season? Hahaha what a sp*d!!
http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Mikael-Silvestre-set-to-quit-Arsenal-after-Arsene-Wenger-snubbed-him-for-Liverpool-clash-Exclusive-article321499.html
good news ??
I tell you mate, I understand what you mean, you’re a winner but if you go into every game hoping you’ll win, believing it, then you’ll enjoy yourself a lot more. Aye, when you lose it feels even worse and it’s hard to pull yourself back up after shit against Chelsea and United, but if you’re spending that much money, best make the most of it. You never know how quickly things will change don’t you? When a big game does come, you don’t want to risk not being there do you? Us Arsenal supporters live in hope.
I know you love the Arsenal and you’re only bitching :p I don’t think you’re seriously not considering renewing your season ticket.
Micky Did It 89 – I’ll put myself forward for that mate (the che thing).
Only issue is…I don’t know where this bar is!!!
thevanster,
how enjoyable was going into the Chav game? knowing that we had no chance in hell?
I rest my case…
Club level season tickets are £3000 approx
with cole out if gibbs comes back soon think he could make the world cup
I got a call out of the blue in the summer offering me one for £2,600…
THINGS LIKE THIS PISS ME OFF HOW MUCH DID WE PAY FOR SILVESTRA AND HOW LONG WAS HIS CONTRACT!!!!! NOT TO GIVE GALAS AN EXTRA YEAR AND LOSE HIM WOULD BE FUCKING REDICULAS
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is not prepared to make an exception to his ‘over-30s rule’ by handing William Gallas anything more than a one-year contract extension.
Gunners chairman Peter Hill-Wood has revealed that the 32-year-old centre-back will only be offered a new 12-month deal ahead of the summer when his current terms expire.
Gallas’ future is therefore far from certain as it was expected that the first-team regular would want assurances and AC Milan are reportedly monitoring the situation.
But ahead of Wednesday’s meeting with Liverpool at Emirates Stadium, Hill-Wood claims that Wenger is not ready to break his policy of only offering one-year contracts to players over the age of 30.
On the table
Hill-Wood said: “Arsene has a policy with players who are aged 30 to offer them one-year extensions.
“He has not asked us to make an exception for Gallas. If he did, I am sure the board would agree to it.
“It is not out of the question, but it is certainly not on the table at the moment.
“I think it is proper for players of that age to get one-year deals. Then if they do well, they get another year.
“It worked perfectly well for the likes of Dennis Bergkamp
WTF is wrong with these guys???? why do they even have to have a policy? why cant they just deal with each case on its own merits. Surely AW can see that we need Gallas, just give him the bloody contract, and in the season after next he can play the role Silvestre is playing now.
I hope Arsene is not pinning his hopes on JD becoming the next big thing. Although he has been good, for all we know he could do another Senderos on us.
“Arsene has a policy with players who are aged 30 to offer them one-year extensions.”
what about Silvestre?
oh, I know – that wasn’t an ‘extension’…
JD is pants…
Is it true that Wenger gets £2m bonus for ensuring that we finish in the coveted fourth place or above,Geoff?
Suga3.Who is Silvestre?I know a bald French clown called Shitvestre playing for us.
Jaguar,
I consider him a good pro, really – obviously limited, but a pro nevertheless…
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K30e9O3Nng&hl=en_GB&fs=1&]
Geoff one of your better posts because you are not hiding behind the rediculous false hope of “we can do this and that”. With Wenger’s continual policy of not buying because “what we have is good enough”, yeah for his limited ambition but not mine as an Arsenal supporter,we will never win anything. I know you and most of this site think much of Bendtner (and I often criticise him) to me Bendtner sums up all that is wrong with Wenger’s policy and the modern Arsenal football club, he is a very average striker (among other average players) and that is the problem when you rely on average (as we do) all you end up with at the end of the season is average results and positions … so it’s been for the last 5 seasons and will go on for the next 5 seasons if he doesn’t start to buy more quality and passion than the likes of Bendnter can produce. We deserve better …Arsenal deserve better. This isn’t to say we haven’t got class like Cesc and Arshavin, but too many of our players are average and as a team the average performances (where has our quick and decisive flowing attacks gone??) will not win us anything. Sad Sad Sad.
I had nothing against him before our manager, offered him a two year deal. What a hypocrite,Wenger is
Jag,
it’s not his fault, is it?
we should sing ‘two more years’ for Billy: true great and a warrior…
We can only hope Suga3,though its pretty obvious that Wenger doesnt rate Gallas highly because Gallas has a winner’s attitude, and doesnt tolerate mediocrity, both of them are a taboo for any player under Mr.Wenger.
Wenger cannot handle characters with cocky attitude, simple as…
Cocky attitude and winning attitude are different,Suga3.The likes of DB10,TA6,PV4 had winners attitude and Titi was one of the rare exceptions with more of a cocky attitude.
I THINK SONG should be the next captain……as it seems the arm band is mark for the next player out of the club..wenger uses it in the sale negs well he is arsenal captain so thats gonna add another 3mill
We all went for years in the 80′s with no chance of winning something so maybe we have been spoilt of late. Before I am jumped on I also appreciate the financial committment was somewhat less and more fun was had as part of the experience. Maybe it is not only the winning but the sterile atmosphere of the Emirates?
winners are usually cocky…
PEDRO:
Suga, Wenger can handle cocky characters. We always buy players who were shits at their last clubs.
Jag I dont think its about AW rating Gallas or not, he did the same with DB10 and Pires left for that reason. Its just a rule that he came up with and doesnt want to change, I hope Gallas will be the one that breaks this rule.
PEDRO:
Inside, he signed Silvestre on a two year deal.
I don’t get it. If you’re a crock like Rosicky, you get a two year deal. If you’re fit and healthy like Gallas, but over thirty… you get a 1 year deal?
Sounds stupid to me. Should Wenger be dictating how long players contracts are, or should Gazidis?
well thats great news
fish face quitting , i hope sol wants another year….
so wenger will have too buy another cd …
thats good news for us doomers …
AKB’s will mourn another wenger buy special
going to the way side …
another minor victory…
oh now he will make Song a cd and give the head wobbler a game every week:)
what a fucking waste of 860 k or what ever he cost plus wages ..
PEDRO:
Ethan, I think he was on £50k a week!
Sounds stupid to me. Should Wenger be dictating how long players contracts are, or should Gazidis?
———————
sounds like neither are capable from flamini onwards ….
ok since the TH14 business ….
Geoff,
I know he COULD handle them, can he still?
Geoff Says:
February 13, 2010 at 12:28
Ethan, I think he was on £50k a week!
————————
thats a joke ..
its not like he didnt cost us anything either ,
richards , smalling anyone would have been a better purchase .. taking wage’s into account we wouldnt be much worse off just getting someone in with a future … who could grow into a 1st team option
and most importantly quality wise –
a world away better !
oh thats right he cant find any better in the area !
wenger needs new glasses !
I think Silvestre as signed for his good looks
was signed
1-1 Cardiff
Is this what Wednesday was like for you, Geoff?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8oGGm13qWo
inter will beat chelsea and milan will beat united,in the next round we draw bordeaux and vermaelen gets stuck into chamakh and hopefuly scares him out of a move to arsenal(he couldnt train against him everyday)we then get barca in the semi and go on to the final after a stoppage time 30 yard thunderbolt from fabregas at the camp nou, then finally its real at home for the big prize, after gallas opens the scoring on 6 minutes real hit back and go in 2-1 up hanks to benzema and raul,in the 77 minute fabregas plays a trade mark through ball for van persie to slam it in on casillas near post,in the 93 minute real have a corner,it doesnt clear the first man an diaby launchs a swift counter,he plays it walcott who is fresh off the bench he 40 yards then squares it to fabregas who slots it past casillas with the last kick of the game, triumph!!!!!!!!!!!!
irish,
irish gooner. U re making me dream
I rish you put some thought in to that
and its good
TAIG IF YOUR ABOUT I STUCK A CHING ON YOUR TIP looking good
Fantastic vid chozzer tears streaming down me boat cheers mate!!
I love Charlie Nicholas, tearing big nose a new arshole on Sky Sports!
Irish:i will commit my self into a monk monestry in tibet 4ever if that happens
that was a great video.
great video indeed, thanks chozzer
Great video, chozzer…
Quincy just scored for Pompey…
yes a great goal aswell
1:1
typical James
Pompey up again…
That was a brilliant pass from Quincy, still very talented
Chozzer that vid was a thing of great beauty, i could actually smell the burgers.
Chamakh, a proven international, a league winner, an experienced player, will be making 10,000 a week less than Theo Walcott for us. And he didn’t cost 9m.
Pompey 3, game over…
4, nice break…
4-1 to Pompey..
Geoff, I think you need to think about medication mate. I can’t remember the last time I read something positive on here.
My general poverty combined with great distance preclude me from a season ticket but as a (technically) foreign gooner I also support my local team and regularly go to watch them get thumped in the pouring rain without a £390m stadium to shield my baldy bits. Also the last 2 games I made it to were the Man U shame and the Everton irritation and I’d take either again any time I can afford it.
The reason Wenger gets a bonus for CL group stage qualification is that it benefits the club. If the board beleived that the FA cup was of greater value to them they would reward for that instead.
That video was beautiful.
Taig 4-4 abeerdean were close ching gone your bad
Incredible I pay a shedload, and no matter how much you earn, giving your hard earned to a club is a lot.
Wenger should get a bonus for winning things, not ECL qualification, what happens is a conflict develops that finishing 3rd is more important than winning trophies, that can’t be right.
His priority must be to win things, let the others worry about making money, I’m a shareholder and I get fuck all, so I’d like to know who gets the dosh.
The accounts never show what Wenger earns. That’s sinister.
a goal and two assists for Quincy…
better than Theo?
better than sunu?
the assist for spudcunt’s goal was brilliant too!
Fantastic video Chozzer.
‘The airline’s partnership with AC Milan is worth US$82 million over the next four years – one of the largest sponsorship agreements in European soccer – but sources on both sides insist it does not pre-empt a takeover bid for the Italian club from the airline’s owners.
Emirates’ deal with Arsenal is worth UK£100 million (US$156 million) over 15 years. Arsenal’s marketing director, Angus Kinnear, has previously stated that the club hopes to sign more partnerships of a similar level.’
Fabianski wants to leave Arsenal. Good. We have Szczesny
Where did you read that?
Silvestra has become fed up with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and will quit the club at the end of the season, according to The Mirror.
Despite some extended runs in the first team last term after moving from Manchester United, the 32-year-old defender has since settled into a fringe role with the emergence of Thomas Vermaelen.
And the Frenchman is reported to be so unhappy with how low he has sunk in Wenger’s estimations that he has decided to quit Ashburton Grove in the summer.
With Philippe Senderos on loan at Everton, Silvestre had expected to be named in the matchday squad for the midweek Premier League clash against Liverpool as back-up for Vermaelen, William Gallas and left-back Gael Clichy.
Sol Campbell and Armand Traore were included instead, and it is said that the former Inter player lost his cool in front of his team-mates when he learned of this latest snub.
Even more frustrating for Silvestre is that he allegedly knocked back the advances of Paris Saint-Germain during the January transfer window because he thought he remained a valued member of Wenger’s squad.
MAROUANE CHAMAKH will be an Arsenal player this summer after saying yes to a four-year, £10.4million deal.
The free agent Bordeaux ace has snubbed a BIGGER offer from Liverpool and put pen to paper on a Gunners pre-contract agreement.
It will mean £50,000 a week for the man Arsene Wenger believes can be the ‘new Emmanuel Adebayor’.
We told you first on Boxing Day that Arsenal boss Wenger had stepped up his bid to land the striker, even though publicly he had ended his interest in Chamakh.
Liverpool were offering the 26-year-old £10,000 a week more.
But the 6ft 2in Moroccan was desperate to work with Wenger and his decision will be a stinging snub for under-fire Kop chief Rafa Benitez.
Chamakh is rated one of France’s top frontmen and was a key member of Laurent Blanc’s title-winning team last season.
Arsenal tried to land him last summer in a £6m swoop. But Bordeaux wanted double that and the deal stalled
Shame about sylvestre
Fabregas wants Arsenal to toughen up
(AFP) – 1 day ago
LONDON — Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas admits his young team-mates will have to show more maturity if they want to end the club’s five-year wait for a major trophy.
The Gunners are still in the Premier League title race after beating Liverpool 1-0 on Wednesday, but that result was preceded by dispiriting defeats against Manchester United and Chelsea which exposed Arsenal’s lack of killer instinct.
Arsene Wenger’s side, who trail leaders Chelsea by six points, dominated possession for long periods in both those losses without ever looking like delivering a knockout blow to their opponents.
That failing was put down to a lack of experience by Wenger but Fabregas, 22, believes it is time for Arsenal’s youngsters to grow up.
“As a team, we need to be stronger,” Fabregas said. “We can’t hide behind people saying we are too young or we have injuries. We just have to compete.
“People say you must learn from your mistakes, but you learn how to play football when you are 12, 13, 14, 15. You don’t learn these things when you are 25.
“Of course, you can still improve, always improve, but the basics must be there.
“If you play for Arsenal, it is because you have to have these attributes. That is why I do not believe age is an excuse.”
Compared to United and Chelsea, Fabregas’s team have a favourable run-in with no more fixtures against ‘big four’ rivals.
But the Spain midfielder knows they will still face several intensely pressurised matches if the title race goes down to the wire and he concedes that the Gunners need to learn the art of winning when the stakes are highest.
“In the past few years, we have been doing very well, but whenever it comes to important moments, maybe we haven’t been up where we need to be,” he added.
“We have always tried to play our football, but the goals we have conceded lately have come from defensive mistakes.
“We can keep playing the same style of football, but it is the mentality that will determine whether you win trophies or not. We need an extra edge in these big games.
“We want to do well and get better and better, that is for sure. But, remember, these are teams that have won things recently and, in terms of winning trophies, are more advanced than we are.”
Arsenal’s Andrey Arshavin has revealed he expects to miss the Champions League tie with Porto because of a hamstring injury.
Arshavin picked up the injury in the midweek win over Liverpool and a scan on Friday revealed the injury was bad enough for the Russian to miss the trip to Portugal on Wednesday. But he expects to be fit for the following match with Sunderland in the Barclays Premier League.
“If all goes well, I get back on the pitch as early as the next Premier League match against Sunderland,” Arshavin told Russian newspaper Sport Express.
“However, the next game against Porto in the Champions League I will miss.”
so sylvester to go, bring in a cb.
chamakh to come in.
thats 2 signings. step up young szech in goals/get an exp keeper.
its not to hard arsene..do it!
The Football Association of Ireland today (Saturday, February 13) confirmed that Liam Brady will finish his role as assistant manager with the senior international team when his contract expires in April this year.
Liam started working with the FAI in March 2008 as part of the new senior management team alongside Marco Tardelli and Giovanni Trapattoni and played a significant role in developing the current senior Irish squad during the World Cup qualification campaign.
Speaking today, Liam Brady said;
“I have thoroughly enjoyed working as assistant manager for my country over the past two years and I thank Giovanni, Marco, Alan, Fausto, the backroom team, the players and the fans for their tremendous support during that time. As a former Irish captain it was a real pleasure to be part of growing and developing the new generation of Irish players who performed so well over the last campaign.
The decision to end my involvement with Ireland has been taken in light of my continued work as Director of Youth Development at Arsenal. The Ireland role required me to be away a lot of time and although Arsenal made clear they would have been quite happy for me to continue, I have decided it is not right in the circumstances to remain in position after I complete my contract this April.
I thank the FAI and everyone involved in the Irish set up. It has been a great personal experience for me and I wish Giovanni, Marco and all the players all the very best for the coming campaign.”
Commenting on the news, Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni said;
“Liam has been a great asset to the Ireland management team and we will all be sorry to see him go after his last match with us against Brazil in the Emirates Stadium. He has done a great job here and I know all of the players join me in wishing him every continued success at Arsenal.”
Chief Executive of the Football Association of Ireland, John Delaney said;
“Liam is a legend of Irish football and a gentleman to work with. He has impressed everyone here at the Association with his dedication and commitment. His lifetime of experience at the highest levels in the game, in Italy, England and Ireland brought a necessary dynamic to the original building of the team and contributed significantly to the success of the last campaign. We wish him all the very best in his continuing role at Arsenal.”
Pedro, Polish newspaper.
He said he’d like to go on loan at least to get some playing time and that his poor game against Stoke was due to rarely playing and he wants to improve. Only way he can do it is to play.
Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud says he has been left confused following the latest round of transfer speculation linking star striker Marouane Chamakh with a move to Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
The 26-year-old Moroccan revealed on Wednesday that he had recently held talks with the Gunners, Spurs and Rafael Benitez’s Reds, but denied reports that he had agreed a deal to join Arsenal at the end of the season, saying:
“Some said I have signed for Arsenal. I deny it categorically. It’s true there are contacts with English clubs, including Arsenal, but I deny there’s a deal.”
And Bordeaux boss Triaud, who fought hard to keep his prize asset away from the clutches of Arsenal and Sunderland eight months ago, has admitted it is likely that Chamakh will agree a pre-contract with someone sooner rather than later.
“It is sometimes said that there is no smoke without fire,” he told France Football.
“It seems strange that so many sources are consistent.
“He’s not told me anything… he said he wouldn’t do anything without first telling me.”
Chamakh has been on the Gunners’ radar since last summer when a host of other Premier League clubs were thought to be keen to secure his services.
Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger admitted that he was on the lookout for a new forward during the winter transfer window after losing the services of Robin van Persie, Eduardo, Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott through injury.
Irish, I’ll drink to that mate! You want the Spaniards to eat their heart out!
Arsenal and Manchester United are heading for a summer transfer battle in the race to sign Neven Subotic.
The Borussia Dortmund defender has vowed to concentrate on his football ahead of the World Cup, but speculation from Premier League sides Arsenal and United will be difficult to ignore for the Serbian international.
The youngster spent two seasons at the University of South Florida between 2004 and 2006, representing the USA national youth teams at U17 and U20 level.
After impressing in the States and on a trial in Europe, Mainz 05 swooped for the 21-year-old and he made his debut against Bayern Munich for the already relegated side at the end of the 06-07 season.
Dubbed ‘the new Vidic’, Juventus, Real Madrid and Manchester City are also thought to be interested in the Dortmund youngster. Sir Alex Ferguson is a known admirer, but the Red Devils have already added Chris Smalling to their defence.
Arsene Wenger missed out on the Fulham youngster, and is keen to make the addition of a player who would be seen as the eventual replacement for William Gallas. Scout Gilles Grimandi has already travelled to watch the Serbian, although a £20 million price tag could be a stumbling block. (Give Me Football – Official PFA Website)
Arsenal have been trailing Neven Subotic for some time now and it appears the race is hotting up for the Borussia Dortmund centre back who has been likened to Nemanja Vidic and this summer could be the right time for the Emirates boss to clinch the addition of this talented Serbian.
With William Gallas only be offered a one year contract and with veteran Sol Campbell clearly very much in the autumn of his career it seems Arsene Wenger may well be keen on bringing in a young talent and Subotic could well be a good fit for the north London club.
With Thomas Vermaelen proving to be a very good purchase Arsenal could see the 21 year old Bundesliga man as another up and coming relative unknown who the Gunners could help build into the finished article. One thing is for sure the Arsenal defence has appeared more leaky than in recent years and the Arsenal fans will be calling for Wenger to spend cash this summer and a move for the £15m rated defender will surely be welcomed.
