Fabio, your captain may have the morals of an mangy, disloyal alley cat but think of the kids and how you want them to grow up. Sack him.

So reading the Standard last night it emerges that Rooney, Gerrard and Lampard have all said they would be uncomfortable taking on the captains armband should John Terry get tin tacked by Fabio Capello.

Wow, all that’s missing from that bunch of cheats is alleged drug taker Rio Ferdinand. Amazing those pillars of society don’t think Terry has done anything wrong, does that not show what a bunch of spoilt out of touch prats they all are?

Apart from the fact that none of them have ever done a days work in their lives, have no concept of money and how hard it is to come by, so have no idea what in life is acceptable.

So John Terry feels like shagging his mates bird, so does, he only cares about himself, fine example that John, way to go. He showed a similar contempt in a night club some years ago I believe, not to mention that earning £7million a year is not enough he was showing people around the training ground for cash in his skyrocket, or charity, dependent on what story you believe.

So the people who support him are the very people who shouldn’t get the armband either, one is a granny shagger, one is a shagger, or so his wife said, or ex wife and one attacks a DJ in a bar because he had his mates to protect him.

If anyone wants to say so what, it’s about their football ability then cast your mind back to Rooney stamping on Carvahlio’s nuts and pushing Ronaldo over in the quarter finals, just after kicking a water bottle at the bench for being subbed, petulance. And that cost us the World Cup. Another one didn’t want to play for his country because he couldn’t be arsed, yet played for Liverpool that weekend and other one spent two years getting booed by his own fans, what makes any of them deserving?

Give it to Gareth Barry or Wayne Bridge for being more of a human being than his ex-mate John Terry.

Cheating on your wife is one thing, when you have young kids it’s nasty, but to do all that and shag your mates bird, the bird that’s the mother of his kid, and to have had unprotected sex as well is not worthy of the England arm band. Bobby Moore, roll in your grave son.

I’m no angel, we all have crosses to bear, but no one can defend the actions of a spoilt rich thug that has never had a moral compass, don’t even get me on the parents.

Mr Capello, broken Britain is full of spongers, cheats, liars, thugs, reality TV morons and overpaid pop stars and sportsmen, we have lost the ability to understand the difference between what’s right and what’s wrong, please do the right thing and show the world that true sports stars count for much, much more than rich ones that care only about themselves

Fabio, do the decent thing, give England back it’s pride, sack him.

So a draw last night, does that mean we’re back in it? Who knows, only if all around us drop points, Saturday becomes even bigger now, but I can’t see us winning that one, we should have done better on Sunday, we can only hope now, I’ve had my moan about us, I feel empty right now, we loaned out Sanchez Watt to the Shrimpers so the last big lad we had is now gone.

I’m thinking we now have to win all of our games, can we do it? Yes, of course we can, the question is will we, time will tell.

Arshavin got some stick for not passing, well I like him, at least he had a few shots, I feel if people were up with him more often, he may pass it, more often.

Have a great day Grovers, the weekend will soon be upon us and we’ll find out if we are competing for 1st or 4th, I have a feeling we all know the answer to that one already!

  9. Lala Bots Gunner says:

gooners, give Terry a lot of stick @ stamford bridge on sunday…the strains were showing on his face when Hull fans were singing about his loose pants…lol!

  10. tonyadamsisgod says:

Good post Geoff. Terry is, to put in bluntly, a cunt. End of. Anyone see that Shrek & Princess Fiona owe an agent £4.3m and are trying to get out of it by saying it was a mistake! Hope the courts do the right thing there too!!

  11. Mark c says:

    Is sanchez watt that big

I am not bothered by England they are

    poor and play for themselves.

I would love some good news like lampard and Rooney are out for the season.

  12. tonyadamsisgod says:

We are in with a chance against Chelsea if we can match Hull’s work rate and desire to win. But we can’t.

  13. Gunner UNIT says:

What a great performance by Hull
Believe it or not but their were a few things that I saw in last nights game that I really admired.
Somethings that we should look at that’s missing in our team or players are lacking.
Target Man: Jozie Altidore – what a great performance, won almost every ball.
Getting stuck-in: I know we all hate Fagan but he caused chelseas defence problems by getting in their faces.
Composure: What a great player will Hull youngster Cairney become. Dictated the midfield agaist Bala, Deco & Lump
But the biggest player on the night was Hunt( I know) What energy and drive this man has. He gave his all , threw himself at everything worked hard all over the pitch and gave Ivanovic nightmares who should have gotten a second yellow.
Denilson, Nasri, Rosiky eat your heart out, You don’t need speed and skill, all you need is the will and determination to win.
So come on get out their and bust a gut for the Arsenal. I hope wenger was watching,

  14. GoonerT1m says:

phil brown….terry is a professional ..once he crosses the white line, everything is forgotten…sums it all up really. Scumbag.

  15. slimshady says:

well I did read the post first. morning everyone.

  16. tonyadamsisgod says:

If Terry had slept with a stranger that is bad enough but maybe he wouldn’t lose the armband. But the amount of friction that he has now brought into the England camp is unreal and he MUST lose the captaincy! Will bridge really want to play next to a man that has done that to him, let alone when he hasn’t even been punished!

But I 100% agree with Paul Merson. If Capello was going to strip him of the captaincy it would have happened by now. He is staying quiet to let it die down and hope the impact is less when he finally does announce that Terry will remain as skipper.

  17. stonroy says:

John Terry is an embarrassment and so are all the people who try to justify what he did as being something that is not a part of international football. When you represent your country, that’s exactly what you’re doing, you are making a statement about who your fellow countrymen are. Just horrible because you know he is still going to remain captain. Disgrace.

  18. tonyadamsisgod says:

Gunner UNIT – All true mate. The reason those guys work hard is because they live in fear of losing their place in the team! Denilson and Almunia know that they never get dropped and their game stays at about 50% of its potential! Basic, basic management that Wenger is getting wrong!

  19. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Its the 11th hour in the lead up to another World Cup, & as per usual, England are imploding. Whats new?

  20. GoonerT1m says:

more revelations to come, arsenal can batter them sunday…come on Arsenal time to wake up ….take the 3 points….we could still be in it !!!!

  21. SUGA3 says:

back on after a short walk to work – great post, Geoff, you, my friend, are on fire!

so, sexyboy, I fuck my dad’s arse till it bleeds?

I wouldn’t expect anything less from a monkey

  22. tonyadamsisgod says:

stonroy – I just had a blow out with a prick at work that said Terry has done anything that bad because bridges Mrs has slept with more than just Terry! Fucking ridiculous!

  23. SUGA3 says:

oh, how ignorant of me: an ape ;)

  24. gnarleygeorge9 says:

The woman Terry shagged, must have had some say in it. If the Chavs lose The Title now, & we……..no I’m not going to say it ;) Well we should all make that shiela an honourary Gooner. She may not have laid back & thought of Arsenal, but she may have well have. CCCCCCChhhhhhhhhhhhamoneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  25. slimshady says:

GunnrUNIT – Rosicky has loads of heart mate, in fact probably only Vermy and possibbly Gallas show more desire to turn it around when we’re getting hammered.

Cases in point – this season, vs Shitty, Bolton and the Scum :-D

  26. bnsb says:

    Saturday becomes even bigger now,

    We play on sunday, right?

  27. Rohan says:

I’m quite liking the American team and will be backing them as outsiders to make the semifinals. With an array of great GK’s to Landon Donovan, Jozy Altidore not to mention Clint Dempsey, they could create quite a few problem………

  28. Moray says:

    Good post as usual, Geoff.

If you were the boss of a company and starting shagging your employees’ girlfiends, you would be sacked. So why the fuck should football be any different?

Most of the England football team make me sick, as do their apologists in the media. And the fact is English players are overhyped (Walcott) and prone to drunken violence and stupidity (the majority).

No wonder Terry bought all this property in Dubai and Egypt – it was so he could cart of his missus and kids while he payed footsie in the back of a cab with his mate’s girlfriends and wives. Disgusting individual!

  29. stonroy says:

What’s even worse than what he did, was trying to hide behind the courts and cover it up with some bloody super injunction, to say it would hurt sponsorship deals, this man really is a self absorbed…John Terry 2009 cunt of the year.

  30. Gunner UNIT says:

We need real Arsenal supports to play for us, not me and you but the players, The first thing the manager needs to do is make the players fall inlove with this club. With that you get desire and spirit – just ask Parlour, Fabregas, RVP, Henry.. they were Gooners thats why they play great.

  31. slimshady says:

Anyway – I’m now all up for the chavs this weekend again after that draw.

  32. GoonerT1m says:

almunia and denilson……could they actually be dropped ?????????????…its time for a clean sweep and get rid …

  33. Moray says:

    Rohan

The USA team have a lot of injuries, unfortunately. Otherwise I would agree with you: they are a nice unit.

  34. John A says:

GU, You’re forgeting Andre ‘I am Gooner’ Arshavin ;-)

  35. Rohan says:

Continuing with my tradition of always backing the underdogs, the Dutch are also outside bets to win the tournament… RVP will be key to their fortunes…
Denmark under Bendtner are an extremely hardworking team and could go far.

  36. GoonerT1m says:

    spot on stonroy

  37. tonyadamsisgod says:

Rohan – I’d rather back Serbia, Ghana or Paraguay at similar prices than the Yanks.

  38. tonyadamsisgod says:

Rohan – Netherlands always choke when it counts. Denmark are shit.

  39. arsenalised says:

We are back in it people haha KEEP THE FAITH!!!!!!!

  40. stonroy says:

TAIG I question anyone who doesn’t see that he should be sacked. What that position stands for is far greater than him and us, you are standing on the backs of truly great men and it would discredit them and the position to have him still there.

  41. bnsb says:

Have a great day Grovers, the weekend will soon be upon us and we’ll find out if we are competing for 1st or 4th, I have a feeling we all know the answer to that one already!

    FIRST, ONLY FIRST!

  42. John A says:

I just hope that RVP doesn’t just return in time for the World Cup, only to get injured again.

That would really fuck me off !

  43. tonyadamsisgod says:

Franchise – Its just bizarre really……….

  44. Big Dave says:

    She is hot tho

  45. Gunner UNIT says:

Yeah John ‘A’ i would give everything to play for the Arsenal and so would many of you, and i know even if you weren’t going to get paid you would die on the field trying yuor best. I know i would

  46. stonroy says:

Anyway I’ll come down off my soapbox now. Say what we like about Wenger the man does have a good understanding of these qualities.

  47. Geoff

Top post, more on the wild nature of the rich and famous.

The rich guys just get away too, very easily, with hiring of rich top lawyers, with money nowadays what cannot be bought, judiciary can also be bought by money.

Heard girlfriend of bridge has been given an initial offer of 250,000 pounds as starting price to reveal the steamy story of her with terry,it is just the beginning of bidding war going on,so that the media people sell sex to all kids and youngsters telling them the hypocrisy of todays rolemodels..

Will tigerwoods be considered a rolemodel, off the field…similarly to so many rolemodels have given in to temptations that come with money…

  48. swinner says:

according to comments on other messageboards he’s done it with another teammate’s wife and also with a girl froma club who was allegedly 15 at the time. may all be false but smoke and fires and all that. most vile man there is in football at the moment.

good result last night but can’t see us getting anything at the bridge so all irrelevant really

  49. Moray says:

    this from JT’s wiki:

Terry currently lives in Oxshott, Surrey. He and his wife Toni Poole Terry[38] are the parents of twins, a boy (Georgie John) and a girl (Summer Rose) born on 18 May 2006. Terry celebrated their birth when scoring for England against Hungary, when he performed a baby-rocking celebration. The couple married at Blenheim Palace on 15 June 2007[39] in a magazine coverage deal, and requested Harrods gift vouchers as wedding presents.

In 2009, Terry was named “Dad of the Year” after he came top of a poll of UK adults in a Daddies Sauce survey.[41]

Any dads out there care to disagree?

  50. Big Dave says:

    RG.

Depends on what article you read, one said we said no to the 2.5 mill they want for him.

I thought chamakh was going to announce who he was signing for end of jan, a pre contract with a club

  51. bnsb says:

We win all our games, unlikely as it is, we would be 91 points.

Anyone else think 85 to 89 would win league this year?

  52. stonroy says:

Moray very few heroes live in the limelight, the silent men and woman who plug away quietly I find to be the most heroic people of all.

  53. swinner says:

vile ketchup and a vile man. perfect

  54. bnsb says:

.. adn we would have more than 83 points this year?

  55. Big Dave says:

That cundy from talk sport knows the full story and yet he is defending his mate to the hill, if you read other blogs the bloke is a real scum bucket

  56. Franchise says:

May I respectfully say that this Dog of the Week thingy is GAY 8)

  57. Geoff

with so much money power and such indulgence at Top Most level,i am sure,in future,Polygamy would become legal.

  58. ahmad says:

i hope that we can win and get the 3points but can we really do it with our performance in the manu game i do not think that we can ger more that 1 point and that if CHEL is shit but it will hurt more now if we can not get the 3 points

  59. bops says:

Dont think this is that big a deal .. Bill Clinton anybody.. forget about a national team he was the f*kin President !!

Only issue would be if Bridge had serious emotional shit with her..

  60. Galviniho says:

To be fair, even his wife knew she was getting cheated on left right and centre. Its the world of dumb Britain, individualistic and materialist. The country is down the pan.

England won’t win the world cup, they are simply not good enough.

  61. Moray says:

I wonder what it would take to prise De Rossi from Roma? Maybe more than just cash. It may be a pipe dream, but I would love to see him line up next to Fab. That would be the best central midfield partnership in club football, better event than Barca’s. I remember he elbowed that American guy at the last WC and apologised to him afterwards. That’s class. Tough but fair.

  62. Geoff says:

Same with that northern twat Gough, him and Cundy were saying it has nothing to do with being England captain.

Great message to send out pricks, let our kids grow up thinking you get rewarded and hero worshiped for being a rotten cunt.

  63. arsenalised says:

    Chelsea 0 Arsenal 1
a last minute dubious penalty involving arsh and prick terry

  64. vinnyjones says:

last nights draw will mean little if we don`t win the next 2. the mancs are peaking and have to be considered favourites, but they are beatable and i`m sure they will drop 2 points at least once. hopefully it will be 3points.
we need the lads to play with TV5`s intensity and enthusiasm. too many people just coasting waiting for the “stars” to turn it on.

  65. Geoff says:

Bops and look at Americas moral compass.

Moray, money mate and he won’t spend it!

  66. charybdis1966 says:

rning all, fiery stuff as usual Geoff and while I agree with stripping Terry of the captaincy we pretty much all know Capello won’t do it. Italian footballers habitually do this kind of thing and Fabio is probably wondering what all the fuss is about.
Expect Terry to stay, the goading by non Chav fans to slowly die down an Terry do re invent himself as a reformed character victimised by the nasty people in the media who’ve got it in for him(except for Oliver Holt who seems to be making it his personal crusade to stop the freedom of the press.)

  67. Big Dave says:

    John T…. after match comments

I don’t know what all the fuss is about, Everyone kmows if a full back leaves a hole, it’s the job of a centre back to fill it.

  68. Rohan says:

bops, Terry cheated on his wife with his best mate and teammates wife. That takes is down to a whole new level of low.

  69. bnsb says:

    Chelsea 0 Arsenal 1
a last minute dubious penalty involving arsh and prick terry

    Sorry
That would make it Chelsea 1 Arsenal 0

Ref will never award a penalty to us.

  70. CHIPPY says:

Geoff Mate, Bang on post and totally agree and not just because hes a chelsea cunt, The Armband to me is a sign of the country and as you say Sir Bobby Moore will be turning in his grave with what that cunt has done how ex pros can defend it is beyond me its bad enough if your just one of the lads but when your the national captain its disgusting, But then again this is modern day football so its not surprising, Even the press reckon he should keep it the fake moral outrage whilst they write about it is also sickening, Then they wonder why England fans boo players its because they carnt stand the fuckwits!! Id rather not win the world cup than see that cunt holding the trophy aloft and ive followed England abroad !!

  71. Rohan says:

Big Dave, that’s the best JT joke I’ve heard all week. Respect. :D

  72. John A says:

TBH I don’t give a fuck about England & Terry. Just sack the cunt, drop him and be done with it.

What’s the point of just taking the armband away if he’s still in the team. Surely that will still cause disharmony with Bridge etc?

The Terry family is everything that’s wrong with this country.

    Arsenal till I die !

  73. arsenalised says:

    Bnsb:keep the FAITH
We are definately back in it!

  74. Rohan says:

I don’t think Bridge is going to play..there are rumours that he will drop out if Terry will be in the squad. the bigger question is what the other players think of him and whether their attitude toward him has changed.

  75. Big Dave says:

Have told a mat of mine going on sunday to sing his hear out, and try get all the gooners for 90 min + to slag terry off with songs about him, cole will be happy that he is being left alone, wonder if he had a turn on bridge instead.

  76. Chris says:

No wonder John Terry decided not to move to Man City – not quite stupid enough to follow Wayne Bridge knowing what was going to happen….

  77. Guys

i read an article back here, that Terry will surpass the number of mistresses that tiger woods has.

  78. bnsb says:

Aah, loads of luck we need and all :)

  79. arsenalised

    good to see some optimism,

    i hope,inshallah,we go on a winning run..

  80. Moray says:

    Geoff, I know.

bops – if you want any further illustration of Terry’s moral degeneracy, then just look at all the nasty episodes he has been involved in. It was only a few weeks ago he was collecting 10k in ncash for showing punters around the stadium.

Found this from the Mail in 2006. I love the last line…

In the immediate aftermath of September 11, 2001, he and Chelsea team-mates Frank Lampard, Eidur Gudjohnsen and Jody Morris were accused of drunkenly mocking American tourists at Heathrow, stripping naked, laughing and vomiting.
Having paid his share of the £130,000 fines imposed by Chelsea, Terry was then involved in a 1.30am fracas at London’s Wellington nightclub in 2002 in which a doorman was injured.
He was arrested, spent a night in the cells but was later cleared of charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, unlawful wounding, possessing a bottle as an offensive weapon and affray.
In 2004, Terry’s passion for gambling emerged. He was reportedly one of three Chelsea stars, along with Wayne Bridge and Scott Parker, said to have risked £40,000 a week between them on horse and dog races.
One day, Terry and Bridge were said to have blown £13,000 in three hours as they clutched rolls of £50 notes and enjoyed the ‘buzz’ at Coral’s betting shop in Cobham, Surrey.
Earlier this year, Terry was reported to be one of the England players believed to have allegedly used Steve Smith as a betting agent.
Michael Owen introduced Smith, a business partner of his, to Wayne Rooney who then ran up a £700,000 gambling debt, causing a rift between the two strikers and throwing England’s World Cup preparations into turmoil. Meanwhile, Terry’s love life has been no less colourful. He is engaged to beautician Toni Poole, 24, and in their first seven years together is said to have strayed at least eight times, but has always been forgiven.
Last September, he said: “I really regret what I’ve done to Toni. I’m not going to cheat on her ever again and want to marry her more than anything in the world.”
But two months later lurid revelations were made in The Sun about how Terry enjoyed a passionate clinch in his £100,000 Bentley with a busty teenager who had asked for his autograph and then sent her lewd text messages suggesting a threesome with one of her friends.
In an interview with the Daily Mail’s soccer correspondent Matt Lawton last year, Terry said he had cleaned up his act after the nightclub bouncer incident and liked to spend his spare time fishing. “I had to learn from my experiences, and I like to think I’ve grown into a good bloke,” he said.

  81. tonyadamsisgod says:

Franchise – I take that as a personal attack on myself and more importantly my mutt!! Words have abandoned me right now….:-(

  82. Moray says:

ooops – didn’t realise that quote was so long. Sorry. Still, he’s such a cunt, I should have guessed.

  83. tonyadamsisgod says:

Ha ha, good choice of bookmakers!! :D

    Woof woof?

  85. Arse&Nose says:

At the end of the day there are millions of english folk who act exactly like Terry, why do we have the highest rate of divorce? most adultory?

In most countries you’d be locked up for this, but here its seen as glamorous to be promiscuous!

  86. Pedro says:

    Morning all!

Bops, I reckon if your best mate shagged a bird you’d been seeing for 3 years… you’d have some emotional shit going on!

Top post… one of your finest moral rants I reckon Geoff!

I get sick to the back teeth listening to all the cunts on talk sport tell us that his personal life is his own… when you’re England captain and Chelsea captain you are paid to be an ambassador for the game. What he did showed him up for the character he truly is… what a cunt.

  87. arsenalised says:

We are taking this league and until its all over i have ney will not give up!!!!

  88. Franchise says:

taig its the gayest aspect of this great testosteronic football blog site

  89. Moray

thats a good information u provided us eh

  90. Pedro says:

Most adultory A&N? Where did you read that?

I always take those stats with a pinch of salt… most Westernised societies have loads of adulatory.

  91. bnsb says:

    arsenalised,

I suspect you are autoposting :)

  92. Big Dave says:

My heart is saying 2-1 to the arse on sunday. But deep down, still think it will be very difficult

Diaby must return, drop denilson, try ramsey, nasri on the bench possiblly. Wenger has to shake them up and if your not for it for a game like this well boy you never will be.

Still feel we have a mountain to climb, we have to win all our matches and hope that the other 2 drop points along the way

  93. Pedro

i wonder what would happen if an arsenal player gets involved in a sex scandal,i wonder how the reaction of media will be…will they talk the same biased music of “personal life” etc…

  94. Franchise says:

the first dog is cute though :)

how about we fully gayify the site by having a cats of the week section 8)

  95. Pedro says:

Franchise, this is a site for the Goonerettes as well!

  96. Pedro says:

Fran, there is a cat in there.

  97. bnsb says:

Extra 3 hours of work out, that should take out fat out of any ponce.

  98. VEK says:

we beat chelsea…we will only be 3 points behind them..that is sweet..
Its not over yet! Imagine if our players actually had the bottle to play and beat the other top 2…man we would be in an awesome position..
And I mean the bottle – seems to be a mental thing with our players to afraid to fight. Too many ballet dancers in the team….

  99. A & N

very soon Polygamy may become legal as i mentioned earlier, just how gay marriages are legal

Hint: which president in office married for fifth time?

  104. Geoff says:

Peterbota, I don’t let people on that slag us off, this site isn’t about free speech, it’s about like minded people having a chat.

QOS, thanks for reading, I’m glad you liked it, you are welcome to blog here again, I have removed you from moderation.

  105. Pedro says:

Fran, I’ll move it over when it gets too big.

The section was originally started as a piss take of arsenal insider.

  106. Moray says:

Sabeel, I couldn’t think of anything worse than having ONE wife, never mind several. I can’t see polygamy ever becoming legal in the UK in a month of sundays. Although it would certainly bring the house prices down.

  107. Just wanted to say Geoff, thats probably the best, on the money article you’ve ever written on this site.

A special word for talksport who have had Jason Cundy defending John Terry all week on Drivetime. That’s the same Jason Cundy who earns a living from Chelsea TV.

    JT may yet survive.

I heard from an Italian mate that Capello had a very good time in his career!!!!!!!!!

  110. Moray

what a fanastic thought,i appreciate it,never thought of that
Polygamy to bring the prices of houses…good one..

  111. Pedro says:

I don’t think that is the normal QoS Geoff… but bang on the money about talk sport whoever you are.

Listening to Cundy look after his own of Talksport was pathetic.

  112. charybdis1966 says:

To all those that say what Terry does off the field has no effect on his right to be England/Chav captain – he can’t have it both ways! He can’t have all the sponsorship deals and endorsements on the basis of his “sound” image built up by courting the media and then say they have no right to make an issue of his unsavoury behaviour.
If you profit from your media image then you can’t say off the field issues have no relevance.
If Terry gives up all his sponsorship and endorsements then yes, he can say what he does off the field has no relevance to his captaincy.
He has to decide one way or the other, he can’t run with the hares and hunt with the hounds.

The greedy Chav cnut wants it both ways.

  113. bnsb says:

    Franchise,

I never knew one could post nekkid pics here :)

  114. arsenalised says:

    Jacob zuma!! Hahaha fucking hero

  115. Moray says:

bnsb Zuma? or are you talking about the US of A?

Have Talksport wheeled out that arbiter of all morality, Stan “The Man” Collymore yet, to comment on the Terry situation?

  116. bnsb says:

Although it would certainly bring the house prices down.

It has brought down many a house.

  117. Rob the Goon says:

    Morning all

Good post but i really dont see much happening in regards to the captains armband. The support terry has recieved from players and pundits beggars belief. He could of chosen so many different girls but chose his mates missus! It seems as though the pressure is getting to him, hopefully he’ll take time off this week.

Another thing, did anyone hear about JET get arrested for a driving offence, is there any truth behind it?

  118. Geoff says:

It was Pedro, and don’t argue with me, this site is not about free speech. So fuck off.

  119. Arse&Nose says:

    lol@moray
Stan collymore would have to be an expert on the Terry situation! I wouldn’t be surprised if he kept his mouth shut on this for once, and instead moaned about foreign players at Arsenal.

  120. arsenalised says:

Geoff:haha who u telling to fuck off?

  121. Rob the Goon says:

    Rohan

    wtf 9!?

the father needs to be hanged!

  122. Geoff says:

Arsenalised, Pedro, he needed putting in his place and he has a really gay haircut!

  123. Pedro says:

I love how people justify the behaviour of others because the rest of society do the same.

Firstly, not everyone in society fucks their best mates ex bird and gets them pregnant.

Secondly, when you’re elevated to a position of responsibility, you have a duty to behave as millions of young kids look up to you.

If you want to play away from home… don’t get married.

The fact is, even if JT was single, this would still be a nasty story.

  124. arsenalised says:

Rohan:terry is probably responsible for that pregnancy the wanker! He should avoid china from now on coz they’ll hang him there

  125. arsenalised says:

Pedro:where did u get your hair done? Second time am reading thats its kinda gay

  126. AA23 says:

Terry is a fucking treacherous, back-stabbing cunt.
Makes him the perfect Chelsea and England captain in my book.

  127. Pedro says:

Arsenalised, I clear up with the birds… I don’t care what the blokes say!

I get it done near spittalfields market.

  128. John A says:

Pedro, are there any pictures of your haircut?

  129. Franchise says:

    Pedro u piss taker

  130. Even leaving aside the morality of a man who is clearly a scuzzbucket. He is at the very least guilty of proffessional misconduct and on those grounds should be sacked.

But enought about Pedro’s hair, what do you think of John Terry?

  131. Wiseman says:

    SAME OLD TERRY, ALWAYS CHEATING!

I wonder if Wayne’s kid is actually Terry’s kid?

And what all this talk about Jacob Zuma, haha, they are married according to “customary law” – That woman he had sex with is my friends sister.

  132. Franchise says:

    this is the fane QoS

Queen who is your favourite Arsenal youngster?

  133. Pedro says:

John, there aren’t… If you ever come down the S+B before a game, you can see there.

    Franchise liked it!

  134. Pedro says:

I just forwarded the article on to Darren Gough… whether he’ll be able to read it is another question altogether…

  135. arsenalised says:

Pedro:I don’t know where the hell that is hahaha
in other news all you europeans who love coming to kenya to see elephants in the wild and lions and some other bulshit better hurry up coz some poachers just slaughtered some yesteday

  136. AA23 says:

Its going to be a bad week for that cunt Terry.
Capello aint going to have none of this.
Stripped of the captaincy by 5 o clock friday.

  137. AA23 says:

    Darren Gough cant read Pedro

  138. Moray says:

arsenalised – it was probably John Terry!

  139. Rocky7 says:

I’am thinking let’s just settle it the Rooney family way.

bridge vs terry , bare knuckle , on a side road surrounded by range rovers..

With the highlights posted on YouTube. ‘pikeys with nikeys’

  140. Arse&Nose says:

Wayne Rooney shagged grannys when he was going out with coleen. The media don’t bring that up however.

  141. LadyGooner says:

John Terry is fucking joke! I’d bet England will get knocked out in the first round of the WC! England should be embarassed, the same way I am to have Jacob Zuma be president of my country. When someone is put in such a position they are expected to set the example and are held to a higher standard. They know what to expect when they take on job so shouldn’t be upset when people call for their heads when they mess up

  142. I don’t have a favourite as such Franchise. They are all Arsenal players so when they pull on the shirt I support them.

But i suspect you are really asking what I think about Denilson? I think since coming back from injury he has not been in good form.

  143. frichie79 says:

I cant wait for John Terrys biography,im sure he is due one for being a untC, should be out for Valentines day!

  144. gnarleygeorge9 says:

So QoS & Geoff are all lovey duvey. But can i say this, your boy Denilson is irritating on the eye.

  145. Pedro says:

They did at the time A&N!

  146. Franchise says:

You couldnt be the real QoS.

    Are you even a bird?

  147. John A says:

So Pedro are u holding out to release your photo to Hello magazine?

  148. arsenalised says:

Moray:yeah the twat i hope diaby kicks him again!
Speaking of that incident why was he treated with our own gary lewin that day?
Shoulda left him there in pain twat fucker

  149. Worse than Pedro’s haircut gnarley?

  150. Geoff says:

It’s a good answer QOS, I still love Theo, I know he’s not been that good, but I think he’ll come good, maybe on Sunday!

  151. Arse&Nose says:

    Zuma Zuma yeah!

  152. Franchise says:

gg9 the real QoS has a fit bird as a gravatar

  153. Geoff says:

Nothing is worse than Pedro’s haircut, he looks like Elmo in Sesame street!!!

  154. bnsb says:

I know he’s not been that good, but I think he’ll come good, maybe on Sunday!

    may be one day, sigh!

  155. AA23 says:

    Ladygooner
Terry is a wanker of a footballer not a President of a country.
    Big difference.

  156. Franchise says:

I KNEW MESSI WAS AN AGE CHEAT. HERE HE IS AS THE LEAD SINGER OF AMERICAN BAND JOURNEY IN 1981. TITLE OF SONG IS ‘DONT STOP BELIEVING’

    WENGER REQUESTED THIS ONE SPECIALLY

  157. Moray says:

arsenalised: Lewin was angling for the England job or else I don’t doubt he’s have left the ugly fuck to choke.

Is Pedro’s hair a Hoxton fin? If so, then it IS pretty gay…

  158. Gunner UNIT says:

yeah pedro, why not have a pussy of the week section

  159. Pedro says:

    haha… the older generation…

  160. nn says:

if your gonna sack terry you might as well sack em all. cole – cheater, rooney – granny shagger, golden boy beckham- cheat defoe the list goes on

  161. Because I don’t think Denilson is playing well Franchise?

I still think he’s an excellent player, but think he’s come back too soon. And his form has not been been of the standard I expect from him.

I made the point the other day that once upon a time players returning from injury and out of form used to get games in the reserves, for some reason this doesn’t seem to happen anymore, which is a pity.

  162. tonyadamsisgod says:

Allan Mullery is on SSN pointing out that if Terry gets stripped of the captaincy the next 6 or 7 in line to take over are all a bunch of fuck ups too!!

  163. Gunner UNIT says:

I hope Denilson plays, coz he is such a nancy, maybe Terry might have a crack at him and leave gaps at the back

  164. Franchise says:

Guys with regards to age cheats, I met Kanu’s grand son the other day at an over 21′s exclusive club

  165. bnsb says:

I made the point the other day that once upon a time players returning from injury and out of form used to get games in the reserves, for some reason this doesn’t seem to happen anymore, which is a pity.

    may it please your majesty

  166. Rocky7 says:

Nice post Geoff btw . You have to feel sorry for JT.
The poor bloke must be worried how he is going to survive on just his basic wages when all his endorsements dry up and his missus takes half. Bless him. It keeps me awake at night worrying about him. Perhaps we should set up a charity collection page online. The naff prick.

  167. nn says:

whats brown and kills babies? john terrys wallet

  168. Franchise says:

Pedro the only way Messi could have afforded hormone treatment is with his record deal advance. Age cheat Age cheat Age cheat Age cheat Age cheat Age cheat Age cheat Age cheat Age cheat Age cheat !!!!!!

  169. I changed the email address I use Franchise which is probably the source of your confusion.

  170. gazzap says:

If Almunia and Denilson start on Sunday and Bedntnder is on the bench again, I will switch the TV off.
If wenger cannot respond to what happened last week then he is killing this club and I cannot sit there and watch that happen.

  171. Franchise says:

G Unit you are a legend. Please teach Pedro how to crack jokes

Gonnermicheal has already offered to sort his hair out

  172. Franchise says:

oh I see. Nice to see you again :D

    how is everything hanging together?

  173. Moray says:

gazzap. you will sit there and NOT watch it happen then?? ha

  174. gazzap says:

I Cant sit and watch wenger fuck it up again, so I wont – i will switch it off.

  175. Gunner UNIT says:

I don’t think i can handle that Fran, I have a short temper

  176. Geoff says:

nn the difference is they aren’t all England captains, what they are though is immoral spoiled brats they think they can do what they want.

Look at the other arsehole Collymore, beats women, dogs and now gets rewarded with a chat show.

That’s where we lost our moral compass. celebrity Britain.

  177. Arse&Nose says:

This is why Wenger steers clear of English players-the majority of them are twats.

  178. Rohan says:

Look at JET..for all the talk of Wenger not having any English players,…

  179. Who is the Find of the season so far,if any?

  180. gazzap says:

English players are a product of English society. This whole country is morally fucked up.

  181. Franchise says:

the whole world is fucked up not only England

The English serve a good roast and a good pint

    it is not all bad

  182. Geoff says:

The English can start by doing the right thing and sack the thug, send out a good message that cheats never prosper.

  183. Rocky7 says:

    Franchise,
but the roasts and pints don’t taste how they used too ;-)

  184. nn says:

terry seems to think hes some kind of god. one law for him, the english media can see no wrong in him. time cappello stood up for some kind of values and sacked him completely. bridge should be aloud to go to the world cup without the disgusting terry sharing the same hotel , pitch. come on cappello do the right thig . stand up and say this is unexceptable. what message will you be sending out to youngsters if terry go,s to the world cup

  185. Gunner UNIT says:

France will win the world cup. with willy g headbutting Xavi in the nuts proclaiming Fab4 hasn’t got barca DNA

  186. Geoff says:

It’s dishonest, cheating and thinking you are above the rules because you are a rich footballer.

Time to hit him where it hurts.

  187. Franchise says:

true rocky7 blame health and safety laws.

Dirty kitchens serve the best tasting meals. FACT

    :D

  188. Arse&Nose says:

Geoff I agree, its up to the powers that be to set the example.

Football is a national obsession, these players are like gods to many young kids. The FA shouldn’t even dilly dally about it, they should sack Terry, and should have sacked Eriksson after his affair.

We live in an imperfect world, but the only way to improve society is to aspire to be better.

  189. Rohan says:

    Somehow, I can’t imagine Wenger saying : Kid, you’re staying…

  190. charybdis1966 says:

ArsenalKenya – it’s good to see you here, after our previous trouncing at the hands of the manks I remember that poor chap from tour part of the world who hung himself in his Arsenal shirt.
I wonder of any of our squad, back then, could look at themselves in the mirror and think they tried their best?

  191. Arse&Nose says:

Senderos is playing against Drogba this weekend.

I think he will have a good game against him, because Everton defend as a team not individually like Arsenal.

  192. Pedro says:

Does anyone want 2 Liverpool tickets for £60 each?

  193. Geoff says:

Spot on Arse&Nose, spot on, had they sacked Sven at the time, maybe they would have saved Terry’s wife some hurt.

Not that I give a rats arse about wags to be honest, they target footballers in the first place. Kind of get what they deserve, they are all incredibly shallow.

  194. tonyadamsisgod says:

Pedro – Depends who Liverpool are playing! :D

  195. Jimmythegun says:

Well aware of the can of worms I might be opening here…but doesn’t the whole Terry saga highlight once again the problem with over-paid BRITISH footballers?

Why is it we hardly ever hear about this kind of thing from continental players (that said, didn’t Nasri pinch his fiancée from a rugby player or something?!)

Reports are suggesting that JET has got himself in trouble with the cozzers…at 18. Good work daft lad. Compare that with Fab at 18, living with big Phil and his nice landlady, concentrating only on improving himself as a player.

As you have pointed out – Lamps, Rooney, Gerrard – no angels.

  196. Geoff says:

Pedro, give me £100 each and I may be interested!

  197. Steven says:

Against the backdrop of Hull’s draw against Chelsea last night,it s obvious to see two key points that can help our cause on Saturday. One,time was after the Invincibles era when we felt that we were not as strong as Chelsea or United and so we got stuck in and fought for every ball whenever we played both teams and while in Chelsea’s case we didnt get a result except when Mourinho left, we managed a few against United like the back to back victories against them two seasons ago. But more recently, there’s been this almost lack of respect for them as more experienced and stronger sides and we played them with more openness and with less caution. Back then, we’ll pack the midfield just like lower table teams did to us and went for every ball with great committment and drive to win. This was the case when we beat United away with Adebayor scoring the only goal and then beat United away early last season.
This current craze for ultra-attacking football against teams who can switch from defence to attack in one fell swoop is one of the cause of our recent lossess against both sides. Its time to return to that style. Play Eboue in front of Sagna and Fabregas or Diaby on the side of Clichy with specific instructions to either to help him.

Against United last week, they never allowed us to isolate Fabio, knowing his inexperience while we allowed all the right wingers in the league from Chong Young of Bolton, Young of Villa and then Nani to isolate and render Clichy useless and then complain that he is no good? Get a life, the team wasnt defending well as a unit! I have said again and again that the difference btw our brand of 4-3-3 and that of Barca is not just intelligent players they have that we dont but the workrate that they put in that we dont, especially in big games. If we put in the sort of commitment Hull put in against Chelsea, we’ll have a chance to win or draw.

The second point that will help our cause on Saturday is the crisis that has hit Chelsea due to JT’s infidelity.Honestly, Everton or Villa would have gotten a result had they been the ones headed for the Bridge on Saturday. I just hope we can take the advanatage of their struggle. They are struggling to play due to the stories but we can expose them and help other teams complete the job;they are demoralised and we just need that commttment to fight for every ball and match them tackle for tackle and we may come out victorious.

  198. Rohan says:

you have a point jimmy: having said that, theo walcott seems nice enough, almost too nice. :D

  199. Arsenal Tom says:

A&N… how can he be? we’re playing chelsea this weekend

  200. Geoff says:

Jimmy blame Wenger for paying him that much at his age that he can get that sort of car, a youth team player.

Driving without a license is total disregard for the law, he’s a cunt too.

  201. ArsenalKenya says:

@charybidis1966- i have been on holiday to watch the African Cup of Nations and i am back now.

For those advising Cesc to go to Barcelona he should read this line…..

Figures suggest the Prem attracts the most players in their prime – whereas Italy and Spain are seen more as rest homes for ageing stars.

  202. Franchise says:

AK what is up with that Kenyan midfielder that signed for Inter?

  203. AngeAusArsenal says:

Same thing happened down here with the highest paid Australian rule footballer Wayne carey.
he was a serial offender shagged his best mates wife while they were at the same team.
At least Shane warne had the good sense not to shag any of his team mates wives he missed out on the Australian captaincy because of his cuntish behaviour.
too young with too much money, fame, spare time and no moral compass or regard for anyone but themselves.

  204. bnsb says:

Will someone start slating Denilson or Almunia please. Am tired of these lessons on morality :)

  205. Jimmythegun says:

Exactly Geoff – it represents the fundimental flaw in Wenger’s youth policy, and something that the media always fails to pick up on.

If you pay an unproven teenager 20,000 a week, you are reducing his motivation to improve. When Rooney smahed that goal past Spunky, I think he was still on a YT salary.

  206. Arse&Nose says:

AT-sorry I meant next week, Wednesday.

  207. Arsenal Tom says:

A&N.. thats a good game for us to, cos we got pool, hopefully everton will at least get a draw.

Myles Palmer’s last write is brutal, you been giving him pointers Geoff? ;)

  208. Arsenal Tom says:

mido signed for west ham for £1000 a week just for a chance to play PL footy and one of our unproven youths who hasn’t even got a specific playing position has got a 100k motor.

    fucking disgrace

  209. Geoff says:

He is a student of mine grasshopper!

  210. Rohan says:

I dunno, you can’t really blame Wenger, everyone seems to be doing the same. we need to keep up with the wages if we want to compete.

  211. Rohan says:

I would play for Arsenal for free.

  212. Arsenal Tom says:

but not for an unproven kid, this is arsenal, they should be begging for new deals just to stay at our club not getting silly money cos they might one day be good enough

  213. Arsenal Tom says:

rohan… i think adebayor said the same mate ;)

  214. Arse&Nose says:

AT-you summed it up there, our players have no hunger or desire because they already have everything they need before the age of 19.

Almunias got a stupid dog, no wonder he is a pussy!

  215. Geoff says:

Rohan, we don’t keep up, we pay vastly more, and secondly, we don’t compete either mate, we are out of both domestic cups and will be lucky to finish 4th.

  216. Arsenal Tom says:

A&N… he’s got a nice cover-up wife though! at least she knows there wont be any other women on the side! :)

  217. bops says:

    pedro

Didnt know the facts well.. If he was shagging his friend’s love interest then thats the lowest point that anyone can go in one’s life.. Dont know how his other team mates can be feeling about him right now ?? If he had an ounce of concsience he must be pretty f*kd up rite now.. Hope he f*ks up on Sunday and puts in 2 OGs..

  218. Rohan says:

We don’t pay vastly more, Chelsea and United and the RM’s and the Barca pay more or less the same.

  219. rico says:

Morning LG, that one made me smile Geoff :)

I agree he should be sacked, put this episode with all else he has done, what a dreadful example to football…

If he was desperate for ‘excitement elsewhere’, why did he not go and spend some of that vast amount of money he earns to get it – at least someone would have gained ;)

  220. B.B.K. says:

No team has ever won the Champions League with a Division Two goalkeeper, and with no centre forward.

  221. Arse&Nose says:

You know his wife wears the trousers there. What kind of man walks a dog like that! hahaha

I wouldn’t even call it a dog, its more like a Paris Hilton style underarm-rat

  222. bnsb says:

GARY NEVILLE has been left in the cold at Old Trafford since making an obscene gesture at Carlos Tevez.
The Manchester United club captain was axed from the whole squad and did not even travel to Arsenal for Sunday’s clash. —-

The United captain had wound up former team-mate Tevez by saying he agreed with boss Alex Ferguson that the player was not worth the £25m fee to keep him at Old Trafford.

Tevez responded with both City goals in the 2-1 first-leg win, celebrating in front of Neville, who responded with his gesture.

Fergie was so angry about the incident being repeated on TV he even banned the channel involved from Press conferences for showing it.

  223. bnsb says:

    BBK

Theres always a first time, always.

  224. Geoff says:

Rico, I bet he does that as well!

  225. GunningHead says:

I’m just happy that Terry’s finally shut up- something he’s not used to. Like a raging West Ham or Leeds supporter, he’s used to having an arse for a mouth and finaly I don’t ave to put up with his thugish voice for a while. Sack him and all his gambling womanising cronies!

  226. rico says:

You are probably right Geoff, I couldn’t stand him before this but doing the dirty on your best pal is it a bit rotten, why couldn’t he have taken off with Drogba’s wife, Drog may have left then ;)

  227. Arsenal Tom says:

rico… or even better….. kicked his head in

  228. goonermichael says:

That is a brilliant post Geoff.

  229. Gunnersmith says:

Playing Kids will win us nothing

  230. Le Invicible says:

If we drop Denilson for Ramsey on sunday we have a much better chance of winning. And if Clichy and Sagna get their game back. Trust me Gooners, we CAN AND MUST win against the Chavs!! Aaaaaarsenaaaal!!!
    P.s.Theo for Ingerland captain!

  231. goonermichael says:

    Terry’s wife is a dog though :)

  232. goonermichael says:

She looks like my auntie Sylvie. She was an old slapper

  233. Ademywhore says:

At least all the short sighted muppets have stopped calling for wengers head, I remember Liverpool winning at OT 3-1 United still went on to get the prem

  234. goonermichael says:

I still want Wengers head and my eyesight is ok

  235. rico says:

AT, now that would have caused problems at the Dallas of Football…..

    gm, you mean ‘ruff’ ;)

  236. Franchise says:

Ademywhore I still want Wenger’s head too

the pain of the loss has faded but the crazy manager is still very much here and there are no guarantees things will change

  237. insidealbania says:

Geoff, dont you think the moral compass went out the window when Britain decided it no longer needed its Christian values?

  238. treze13 says:

wow cesc’s doing alright for himself isnt he!

  239. Franchise says:

InsideAl very debatable…. Im from a very religious background and some of the shit that goes down in the church is not any different from what you read in the sun

  240. Simon says:

I knew it! I knew you were a happy clapper Fran :P

  241. Simon says:

The moustache is a dead giveaway :D

  242. Franchise says:

Simon the choir girls were the best hmmmmmm

  243. choy says:

we’ve spent another 2 mill on a 19yr old kid

  244. Geoff says:

I just read a piece that Wenger has spent £102 million since 2003/04 and said it wasn’t chicken feed.

How many have we sold since then though? Pires, Cygan, Lauren and Wright weren’t free so say £5mil, Ljungberg was £4mil, Reyes was £8mil, Jeffers £2.5mil, Henry £16mil, Hleb £15mil, Bentley in all about £8 mil, Muamba about £2mil, Stokes £2.5mil, Ade and Kolo £40mil, Vieira £12mil.

That doesn’t include all the Larsson’s etc that I’ve forgotten either.

So that little lot came to around £115mil, which is a £13mil credit.

So given that we must have say a miserly £25mil a season as a budget that makes us about £265mil short of what we could have spent.

Now go and think about what they would have bought us, and it still leaves plenty to pay the debt off with.

Makes you wonder what he’s been earning doesn’t it.

  245. Franchise says:

    Their vocal range was unbelievable

  246. Simon says:

GEOFF TOP CLASS MATE I COMPLETELY AGREE.

Taig you kept that bet to your self you git  .

  248. Franchise says:

Nick what do you ever disagree with you Muppet 8)

  249. Nick says:

your comment you toss pot :)

  250. insidealbania says:

Fran – You make a very valid point, but the current ideals that get fed to the kids mainly come from the liberal media and the Celeb Gods.

  251. rico says:

Hi choy – its funny really, the mancs pay 8-9M on Smalling and we spend 2M on an overseas player, same age, same position etc…

what a difference an english passport costs..

  252. Nick says:

Capitalism has created an under class of spongers and lay abouts no one wants to accept responsibility for their actions…no morals right and wrong is unclear, the media creates demi gods that are nothing more then fictional characters masquerading as people and we expect kids to know the diffrance.

  253. Franchise says:

Rico the un-nomadic nature of English players is a big factor in such prices

And also cos they understand more about the local game already

  254. Franchise says:

Inside you are right about the media and all. But Morals dont neccessarily have to stem out from religion

    Its a culture thing

  255. Nick says:

Fran thats the thing in England we have a mash of cultures and we seem to have a knack of taking all the bad from each and ignoring the good.
Religion is a way of ruling the people and gives a good set of rules to live your life by hence creating a culture imo morals and the ten commandments are very similar :)

  256. Le Invicible says:

I’d love to see wengers payslip ;)

  259. insidealbania says:

Nick thats probably one of the best comments I have seen you make on this site.

  260. Arse&Nose says:

I’m sure if we tried hard enough we could find out how much he is paid.

Look what the scousers did when they were pissed, they found J,Rises payslip and circulated round the web!

  261. Franchise says:

Nick a mash of cultures you are right there but you will find out that most of these other cultures are less liberal than the English culture. That is the main problem not the other way around

  262. tonyadamsisgod says:

Nick – Just seen that you did. They cut it to 16/1 straight after I got mine on so there was nothing to pass on. Sorry pal.

  263. Franchise says:

Rico I also wonder but only time will tell. My money is on Smalling though

  264. Nick says:

  280. choy says:

    am good thank you!

  281. Nick says:

Taig that was swept under the carpet, wonder what we went down for on that little deal

  282. RockyPires says:

G’day LG’s, was intresting watching Chelski last night and how weak they actually can be.
1 Cech is in a woeful run of form, get Bendtner on front of him for every corner.

2 Isolate Carvalho and Terry, pull Carvalho wide and space will open up for Cesc

3 Ivanovic is very flat footed, get Atshavin to stay on him and turn him inside out.

4 Chelsea central midfield not very strong without Essien, Song,Cesc and Ramsey/Diaby/Eastmond will do well there

5 Deco and Malouda provide poor support for front men, Sagna and even Clichy should get better of these two.

So in that regard I think our best lineup to face Chelsea could be
    _________________GK
    Sagna___Campbell_____Vermie___Gallas
    _____________Song___Diaby
    _______________Cesc
    ______Rosicky______________AA
    ________________NikB52

Gk of your choice, personally think Fabianski can be no worse than other clown

  283. tonyadamsisgod says:

Nick – What a complete fucking mess that was. I don’t think there was an Arsenal fan out there that believed this kid was a real signing!!

  284. terry says:

The brttish press have a lot to do with it also They build up pepole so much only to knock them down again. The hacks on the sunday suplment tried to stand up for terry but also for their paper`s.No orther country would hound their captian before a world cup

  285. georgian1gunner says:

    thanks nick !

  286. tonyadamsisgod says:

    RockyPires –

1 Cech is in a woeful run of form, get Bendtner on front of him for every corner.

Bendtner will probably connect with 10% of corners and free kicks and put half of that 10% actually on target.

2 Isolate Carvalho and Terry, pull Carvalho wide and space will open up for Cesc

Who is going to force their isolation? We don’t have the engine, desire, physicality or belief to make this happen.

3 Ivanovic is very flat footed, get Arshavin to stay on him and turn him inside out.

Could be our best option if Arshavin is played out on the left but he might not be.

4 Chelsea central midfield not very strong without Essien, Song,Cesc and Ramsey/Diaby/Eastmond will do well there

    No they wont.

5 Deco and Malouda provide poor support for front men, Sagna and even Clichy should get better of these two.

Malouda has been in good form this season and with Sagna pushing forward as much as he does I think we’ll be troubled down our right flank. Clichy is just shit and will have a mare!

Just my thoughts. Obviously you will tell I’m none too optimistic unfortunately.

  287. Arse&Nose says:

I rate Ivanovic, when he played against us at the emirates he bulldozed past Arshavin and Traore on several occasions.

Chelsea do a lot of gym work with weights, so you will see our players bounce off them.

  288. rico says:

blimey riley taig, you must be looking forward to sunday as much as i am ;)

  289. SUGA3 says:

    DOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

  290. SUGA3 says:

    just kidding…

I have to agree with TAIG here – shortcomings of our squad are glaringly obvious…

  291. SUGA3 says:

oh, what the hell – hattrick!

  292. Arse&Nose says:

    where the hell is everyone?

  293. SUGA3 says:

    A&N,

must be the lunch hour – lazy gits ;)

  294. insidealbania says:

I would take a draw right now. We have no chance of winning the game on Sunday

  295. Hurley Burley says:

    Geoff,

I have disagreed with many of your sentiments in the past, but your writings today are absolutely spot on. Well done.

What eventually happens with JT and the captaincy will say plenty about english society and what is perceived as important.

  296. Rohan says:

“What eventually happens with JT and the captaincy will say plenty about english society and what is perceived as important.”

Hurley Burley, it’s ironic that an Italian will be making that decision. :D

  297. Nick says:

rob the best thing about reading that article was the ad for the TM lewin sale, their shirts are well smart ;)

  298. Geoff says:

    Thanks Hurley!

  299. rob green says:

Nick 2 mil is a big signing for us mate!! You should be excited :)

  300. Nick says:

Geoff you gunna tell me about this new motor yet or what? :)

  301. Duke says:

    Afternoon…
If Cheslki drawing does not make us try that little harder and win on Sunday, we don’t deserve shit, plain and simple.

  302. Nick says:

Taig bitchslap had a right result state of the art equipment and training programmes organised by leaders in their field and got paid about 20k a week for the privilege, got wenger on his CV and secured himself a free transfer to a nice warm country!!! what did we gain :| wonder how he is doing.

  303. Nick says:

Duke we keep getting the chances we should be well behind now… hope it could be our year, we dont seem to be getting as badly punished for our cock ups as usual. so maybe it is our year?

  304. Geoff says:

Nick I just replaced the old one, it needed an MOT this year, I couldn’t live with people pointing at me!

  305. Arse&Nose says:

    what did you buy Geoff?
I’m in the market for a new motor myself, not sure what to go for.

  306. Duke says:

Nick, would love it to be, if we beat Chelski, we should go on to win the title, not win that, and we will see. It is a definition of a 6 pointer, win and we are only 3 behind and with a real shout, lose and we are 9 behind and as good as done.

  307. SUGA3 says:

A&N – what kind of car are you after?

  308. Nick says:

Like your style im in the same boat mines 3 in march but think I will have to live with the shame till I can get same as yours

  309. Nick says:

well we are unpredictable this year and most would predict a loss so hope we keep the unpredictable tag going for this week at least :)

  310. Arse&Nose says:

Used car with under 30k on the clock, preferable under 5 years old.

I’ve got a bastard Peugeot at the moment and its living up to the sterotypes of French reliability.

  311. tonyadamsisgod says:

    Its a shame that:
    A) We suck arse at attacking set pieces considering;
    B) Chelsea suck arse at defending set pieces!!

  312. Nick says:

    taig isn’t it ironic ;)

  313. frichie79 says:

    A&N,

    Honda Accord?

  318. Geoff says:

I had 25 on mine, still that’s life. I still have my health and that put cars into perspective.

  319. Nick says:

Geoff you knocked yours on for 25 or lost 25 on it?? coz if you banged it on at 25 is it too late to get it back i wont it :)

  320. ethangunner says:

    oh the term was

‘maintains good level of discussion ‘

    ;)

  321. Geoff says:

No Nick, the one I bought had 25 on the clock.

  322. John A says:

We haven’t signed him yet. Looks like a decision will be made after tonights game.

    http://younggunsblog.co.uk/2010/02/03/trialist-savic-to-start-as-arsenal-host-dagenham/?

  323. John A says:

Also says that he will be part of the first team squad next season.

  324. Arse&Nose says:

suga…your the 3rd person to recommend me a honda!

  325. Geoff says:

At least the 6’2″ bloke from Montenegro looks like a defender in the mould we need.

Perhaps he’s mates with Dzeko from across the border in Bosnia.

  326. Raffi says:

Sack Terry ??? If he an ounce of decency he would’ve resigned by now, the selfish git !
Can’t understand the support he’s getting from the media…
To be an England captain, one needs to be of impeccable character and a Mr Nice Guy and not necessarily a ‘great’ footballer…
Just look at past captains like Moore, Hughes, Platt, Butcher etc…
    Terry is a selfish moron.

  327. John A says:

Can’t believe that one of Wenger’s signing’s doesn’t have to play in the reserves for 10 years or go out on loan to Belgium or Spain ;-)

  328. Geoff says:

Because he’s 19 John, that in Wenger years is 29!

Have a good’un Grovers, I’m off to the gym.

  329. Pedro says:

A&N, I bought a Honda a few months ago… they are really nice motors.

  330. choy says:

FIFA should ban Arsenal FC from buying kids!

    What is the use?

  331. SUGA3 says:

    ethan,

  354. Abnet says:

17 Premier League goalkeepers have been credited with more saves than Manuel Almunia in the Premier League this season. Four of those goalkeepers have played fewer games than the Spaniard.
what a mug golie we have

  355. insidealbania says:

WTF? how can anyone complain about today’s post?

  356. John A says:

John Terry has been lined up to star in a new ITV drama…it’s called Other Footballers’ Wives.

  357. choy says:

I just wonder how lehmann got lesser chances than almunia!

I think wenger likes people who don’t talk back and quietly go about their business.

  358. John A says:

John Terry has explained he didn’t mean to have sex with Vanessa Perroncel – he just slipped while he was showing her how to take a penalty.

  359. John A says:

Terry : ‘What a shite couple of years. Mum’s a thief. Dad’s a druggy. Been pulled up in the tabloids several times for my arrogant behavior and now just missed the decisive penalty in a Champions League final’

Bridge : ‘ Hey, count yourself lucky mate…..I’ve just found out my missus has AIDS…! ‘

  360. insidealbania says:

Abnet, can you please tell me who were the two that performed worse than our clown?

  361. A says:

That keeps being brought up abnet, but i’m not sure it’s particularly telling. I’d be interested to see the list, a team that dominates has more possession, and less shots against. I’d expect Cech and Utd’s keepers to be around Almunia in the number of saves too

  362. SUGA3 says:

    choy,

Wenger can’t handle ‘characters’, simple as…

    sign of a ‘nearly man’…

  363. A says:

choy I reckon Jens had chances earlier in his arsenal career, it was because he was an old man when he made the mistakes in his last season that it was time for him to go, can you not remember the slating he got from gooners at the time as well?! Same with Seaman at the end of his Arsenal career, I’d say Wenger has always kept faith as such with his keepers longer than he should have.

  364. Abnet says:

if Alcrap plays on the weekend i will be Arsene got serious problem my friends

  365. choy says:

Chavs and Utd dominate too A.

  366. A says:

that’s what i was saying choy

  367. gazzap says:

Dont forget we beat chelsea at SB last year and we nearly beat united at OT this year. in other words we tend to do far better away from home against United and chelsea.
I think this is down to the approach of our players, who focus on defending properly and working hard when we are away but just throw bodies forward and stand around looking confused when we are at home.

In both matches against chelsea and man u we did not have a big striker on the pitch. this is the key reason for us not being able to exert pressure on their goal.

  368. A says:

Notice no top keepers are in the top 5

    Jensen
    Jussi
    Green
    Robinson
    Myhill

All teams who are under the kosh, and Jensen top, despite even Burnley fans not rating him.

The number of saves isn’t relevant, it’s save percentage that is much more relevant, and I’m sure Almunia’s save percentage would be pretty pants!

  369. terry says:

i feel wenger will not play denilson coz he realiosed that he was shit and actually substituted him in the match vs united i feel he has finally realised that denielson is shit . i feel he should go on loan next season.

  370. A says:

Denilson is a good squad player, not a chance in hell of his going on loan anywhere! He might start against Chelsea, but if Diaby is fit I’m sure he will.

  371. insidealbania says:

Almunia hardly ever makes saves these days. I am talking about saves that a Prem keeper should make, but what he does in Goal for us any GK from the Championship.

    Question:
Is Almunia the worst GK ever to play for Arsenal?

(answers from the Older grovers would be more helpful)

  372. insidealbania says:

I agree with A on that, Denilson is ok as a squad player, but no more. And he will not be loaned out, never.

  373. SUGA3 says:

    A,

sure, there’s no chance – who would want him, Leyton Orient?

  374. Geoff says:

    What’s a Honda?

  375. choy says:

Denilson is a decent player.. but he’s not ready yet.. maybe in another 2-3 years.

  376. rico says:

My Mum bought a Honda last year too, she has never looked back, says its one of the best makes she has ever owned….

It has a 19″ cut and her lawn lovely ;) :)

  377. insidealbania says:

Goeff – a foreign car driven by a man with a gay haircut named Pedro

  378. rico says:

    *lawn looks lovely ;)

  379. Arse&Nose says:

Rami Shabaan was better than Almunia.

  380. frichie79 says:

    Haha I remember that dude!!!

    Mr Rami Man…Shaba!

Thing is AW has said Keepers always get slated cos they only have to make one mistake and it can cost a game…thats why he is never quick to get rid of keepers, cos he knows they an easy target…

But seriously, if he had a dip and was dropped (suspecious flu that kept him out for 3 weeks) when he came back he looked ‘solid’ (in the loosest sense of the word) but not even 2-3 games down the line he has looked lost again. I think he may pick up another mysterious injury.illness but not before the next 2 games.

  381. sarge says:

Inside – I go back to Jimmy Rimmer and he’s the worst I’ve seen.

  382. sarge says:

Wenger was quick enough to drop Lehman after a couple of dodgy performances. Almunia’s been it at all season. Think it’s time for another bout of bronchitis

  383. jimmy says:

i am glad pedro and sabeel are not fighting anymore…
i like you both and i was getting bothered by it.
i think it is software too, but really, does it matter? we are all here on the site to have fun…if that is how sabeel chooses to have fun-by ALWAYS being first-does it matter?

  384. insidealbania says:

Sarge – that is before my time so I will check him out on Wiki. Thanks

  385. sarge says:

Inside – Jimmy wasn’t a bad keeper. It’s just that he was replaced by Pat Jennings who was the nuts.

He got an England cap whilst with us and won a European Cup medal with Villa.

  386. sarge says:

Inside – What I meant was I’ve seen every keeper since Jimmy Rimmer and Almunia is definitely the worse.

  387. gambon

i am not able to open those arsenal.com links :D

  388. insidealbania says:

Sarge – I think I understand what you mean. For me Almunia is the worst GK I have seen play for us. He is our Masimo Taibi but AW still persists with him for an unkown reason.

  389. John A says:

Geoff Barnet was the worst keeper I have seen. For those of you old enough to remember the FA Cup final in 72 when we lost 1-0 to Leeds, you would have witnessed a keeper diving up in the air and landing on the same spot, thus missing Clarkes header.

  390. sarge says:

Inside – it’s beyond logic mate. It’s a position that’s been neglected for a while

  391. charybdis1966 says:

Sarge – the reason it’s a neglected position is because Wenger finds anything to do with defence boring. As he’s not interested in it, he deems it unimportant.

  392. GARYC says:

Most of you probably don’t remember Jim Furnell or Tony Burns. More recently we had George Wood and Vince Bartram. Now they were crap keepers

  393. Nick says:

    vince bartram was pony :)

  394. Mr B says:

Come on its not as bad as u make it sound. but what was hw doing outside his post to begin with.

  395. Pedro says:

Have Arsenal ever had a Black keeper?

  396. charybdis1966 says:

Nick – I think he went to Millwall and also got into some spot of bother with the law – I recall him being fairly average the few times he did play for us.

  397. GARYC says:

Pedro. I’m 53. Not in my lifetime

  398. sarge says:

Gary – Wood and Bartram were both back-up keepers, never first-teamers. I know the old man used to shudder at the name Furnell.

Chary – Agreed mate. He had a stroke of luck with Seaman and an even bigger stroke of luck with Lehman – an international keeper bought for two bob.

  399. GARYC says:

I think Bartram went to Gillingham after he left us and if I’m not mistaken played against us in an FA Cup tie

  400. Franchise says:

Pedro Arsenal are racist re GKers

  401. Franchise says:

Pedro Arsenal are ra cist re GKers

  402. GARYC says:

Sarge. I used to shudder at the whole Arsenal team at that time, with a couple of exceptions

  403. frichie79 says:

BTW Did any of u see Antione Sibieskis daughter hung herself…its damn shame.

  404. sarge says:

Gary – Yeah but everyone knew they were pony back then. No-one pretended otherwise

  405. gazzap says:

I just read some comments that Denilson is a decent player. No he isn’t. He is a shit player. He is not Arsenal standard, nowhere near it. the fact that Arsene plays crap like this every week in our team is the precise reason why so many Arsenal fans are turning their back on the team and not going to games.

the central midfield position is the engine room of the team. its the single most important position on the pitch in terms of dictating the flow of the game. Song and cesc to a good job but they cover for Denilson because he is not up to it.

we should have a player of the stature of Vieira in there. It would make a hell of a difference.
A player of Denilson’s limited ability should not really even be in our squad because if he is there, you have to play him. There are other players who could do a far better job at the club.

Anyone who accepts Denilson as good enough for Arsenal is accepting mediocrity and you deserve to watch Arsenal get beaten. The rest of us deserve better.

  406. Nick says:

chary that wasn’t bartram but graham stack he was good till millwall corrupted him

  407. SUGA3 says:

    spot on gazzap…

  408. Gunners The Stunners says:

Arsenal striker Wellington Silva scored a brace and made a goal for Emmanuel Frimpong as the Gunners dispatched Dagenham and Redbridge in a behind-closed-doors game at London Colney.

The Brazilian has been training with the club since last Monday and he was handed a start in a youthful second-string side against a mixed Dagenham XI. He scored the opener before playing in Emmanuel Frimpong for the second. Silva then wrapped up the scoring in a 3-1 win.

  409. charybdis1966 says:

Oh yes Nick, that’s right, the ole memory cells playing up again. He was cleared of rape/sexual assault I recall.

  410. GARYC says:

Sarge. Didn’t make watching them any easier though

  411. sarge says:

    Gary. I bet it didn’t.

Graham Stack – The Dave Beasant look-a-like.

  412. choy says:

gazzap.. every player is not like messi or fab..

young players like denilson will be inconsistent and are certainly not the finished product.

At his age, we’ve seen glimpses of the player he can be. Is he good enough to start for Arsenal now? No.

    In a few years, maybe.

  413. gazzap says:

Whilst I would ecstatic if we won the title. a little bit of me would be a little bit embarrased as well. having been, not just beaten but humiliated by our main rivals, to finish above them now would feel a bit wrong. I think if we beat chelsea on sunday, then we can genuinely feel like proper champions if we win it.

  414. frichie79 says:

Gazzap, If Diaby could stay fucken fit enough for longer that 2-3 games as a time Denilson would be a squad player, last year he would have also been a squad player….the question u need to consider is why are there some players getting so much game time, and it simply is cos the first choices are NEVER FIT!

  415. gazzap says:

young? he is 21, not 17. he has played 72 times for Arsenal in the league alone.
Even if he was a kid and was not that good due to his age, it makes no difference. you should only be in the Arsenal first team if you are good enough to be there – and he isn’t and never will be. I know that because he has shown no improvement in his time at Arsenal – he is not on an upward curve. some players develop early and then stop – he must be one of those.

There are better players at the club NOW and that includes, Ramsey, Rosicky, Diaby and Eastmond. at least Eastmond busts a gut to close people down. wenger needs to put this one down to experience and let this little fucked up experiment go.

  416. SUGA3 says:

    GTS,

maybe we’ll get luckier with this Brazilian, eh?

  417. gazzap says:

If wenger went and spent a proportion of that money on a Michael Essien type player we wouldn’t need Denilson or injury plagued Diaby. Those players are out there, but Wenger has decided to do it his way. But its definitely not working.

  418. choy says:

gazzap.. essien is also injured :)

  419. gazzap says:

so?! doesn’t mean you dont try and buy better than mediocre players does it?

  420. Pedro says:

Gazzap… selling the future all the time allows you to get away with a lot.

    ‘Denilson is shite’

‘Yeah, but in 3 years time…’

Well, the fact is, 3 years time is not good is it? We play football for the now. 3 years time doesn’t keep any other managers in the job. You don’t see Harry Redknapp persisting with Jamie O’Hara because he is 22 and shite do you?

  421. Geoff says:

    Bob Wilson was black.

  422. Geoff says:

Sorry I meant brown, well his nose is anyway.

  423. frichie79 says:

Song will be better than Essien!!!!! FACT!

  424. Geoff says:

Song’s only just better than Denilson, FACT!

  425. rico says:

i struggle to see anything ‘great’ in denilson now, or for the future… how long has he been part of this squad? he should be way ahead of how he is playing imho…

mind you, i think the same about Nikki B too…

  426. frichie79 says:

Almunia, 32, believes that shows all is not yet lost.

“We are on schedule to do good things this season, we have only a little step to get back to the top of the league,” said the Arsenal goalkeeper.

“When you think about where we were after the Chelsea game [in November], that is a great achievement.

“Sometimes it is better to come back from third or fourth to challenge than to be at the top all the time.”

Arsenal may have won at Anfield, but they have lost both home and away to United. Their recent form against Chelsea is not encouraging, with the Blues winning an FA Cup semi-final clash at Wembley in April and then romping to a 4-1 win in north London a month later.

Wenger, though, will take some solace from United’s poor record against their direct title rivals last season, which did not stop the Red Devils going on to claim a third successive championship.

“I always felt the games against the rest of the top four would determine the league”, the Arsenal boss said.

“But last year Manchester United proved me wrong on that – they won the title after taking just five points from those six games.”

  427. gazzap says:

Its not like we haven’t got good players at the club. we have some world class players and we have them now, not in 3 years time.
I am convinced that with proper team selection and tactics, and substitutions, we would have won a few trophues since 2005.
If only we had a world class manager to manage these world class players and get rid of the dross from playing every week, then we’d stand a chance.
We have all seen how good Arsenal can be when wenger flukes the team selection. You just need someone who really understands what they are doing.

you see what fergie did mid way through the first half the other day, that was top management. He identified a problem and solved it instantly. And you notice Fergie always uses players who will close down in midfield and stop us playing. he always uses Park against us, and yet Park hardly plays the rest of the time. he has got us worked out because we are so one dimensional. if we had used the long ball to a big man the other day, Man u would have been screwed. My Man U mate said he couldn’t beleive his luck with our team selection against Evans and Brown because they are both shit.

  428. Gooby says:

chavs have belletti essien and bosigwa out right?

  429. rico says:

Geoff, Song is so much much better than Denilson, so so much better :)

  430. rico says:

frichie – its a shame Almunia can’t ‘take a step back’ he may have made a few more saves then … ;)

  431. leon says:

i wouldgo on record and say i could not careless about what john teryy did or did not do, i realy hope that manu game was wackup call to these players although record was good so far they have nothing yetand players like nasri risicky etc yes they lots of ability but that counts for nothing if your not will to roll sleves up and a simple bit of hard graft for your team and they should should take good long look at players like giggs and scholes who have been playing at the highest level for 18 years plus particualy giggs,he tracks back he goes forward he does it all.i am not agianst bloodingin young players at all because manu do it all the time but they have to be mega talented and delinson does fall into that bracket at all not from what i have seen of him past few years before the game he was running his mouth about were men not boys he needs to keep his mouth shut he has not ability to backup his words giggs has been 3 times washe does for almost as long he has been alive and same goes go almunia he needs shut up to.i see delinson as kind player you would bring in last 10 minutes of a game,at least the likes of merida ramsey lansbury etc have great deal of ability and just need time,i mean if saw a glimse of ability to put pass go past players something he has no real pace, has not got the stregth,at least with daiby and song you can see that they are starting come good, the fact is this team are going have to work alot harder and put in alot more hard graft to win the wins, this has some abount of toughness but i think that chelsea and muna are tougher

  432. rico says:

gooby – you are right, and essien is a big miss, just need someone to ‘chin’ Drog … did i really write that…

  433. Geoff says:

He is slow, can’t win balls from corners (Sunderland) gives needless free kicks away in dangerous areas (all the time) and can’t read a game, as I said, only just better than Denilson and he’s shit.

Oh and is good for 1 booking a game.

  434. Jimmythegun says:

It’s that fu*kin morinic grin that really pisses me off about Denilson.

It’s the same grin when he scores via a triple deflection, passes the ball out for a throw, or waves at a Rooney-shaped blur passing him on half way.

    Stop fu*kin smiling…you are playing sh*t!

  435. rico says:

but according to the stats Geoff, Song is the the best midfielder in the epl, so sky reported the other day – and i know how you love stats ;) ;)

  436. Jimmythegun says:

    *moronic

    Ah, the irony!

  437. frichie79 says:

Geoff, you cant have it both ways.

A DM will always give silly free kicks away, there job is to stop play and protect the back 4, would u rather he just didnt tackle?

And before you say he should be winning the ball, its not an exact science otherwise there would be no fouls in the game

  438. rico says:

Our new signing has put the boot in :)

  439. Geoff says:

He gives free kicks away because they skin him so he gets in their way. Put Vermaelen in there and he wouldn’t get skinned, he has pace can tackle, reads the ball well, etc, now that’s a real DM.

And pair Gallas with Campbell, we might have a defence then.

  440. rico says:

Geoff – I used to hate the thought of TV in the midfield but have slowly come round to the idea – but do you truly believe tha Sol can play 2 games a week?

I love the big man, but just wish he was 28 instead of 58 … ;)

  441. Paulinho says:

Yeah, that grin, much to my chagrin!

  442. Geoff says:

Rico, no one in our team can, ha, ha, they’ll always injured!

    But yes!

  443. leon says:

goef iam must i stronly disagree with about song he claerly has been one the best and most constant players but is still devoloping there alot room for improvement particualy his passing and reading of the game but at 22 he has alot of time i love to see an essian type player at the club but i dont see to many players of mold around but at least both diaby and song and ramsey you seeing there improving all the time, but delinson has this club a good few years he has not been hamperd by injuries, so i feel wengers hand will be forced in the summer if he continues like this

  444. frichie79 says:

I dunno, I just dont see TV as a DM, its very easy to say he is strong in the tackle etc, but defenders have the advantage of seeing the whole game, being ahead of an attacker and racing them to the ball. A DM needs to be able to patrol, break up play constantly, do it all basically.

Its the same story as last season where everyone wanter Toure in MF. There is a reason that they are defenders.

  445. rico says:

You old wit you Geoff  Sadly though, its very true..

Can you see AW breaking up the defence though, he won’t even give change the keeper, let alone the defence.. Talking of which, Brentford have our best keeper and Mannone, well – I would play him on Sunday, i don’t recall us losing a game with him in goal..

  446. frichie79 says:

On the contrary Rico, Denilson has struggled with a back injury for quite sometime!!!, What is it with Brazilians and back injuries, Gilberto also had a long standing problem :o /

  447. rico says:

frichie – i just don’t think he is or ever will be good enough – but you know me, always love to be proved wrong.. ;)

  448. Jaguar says:

Silva is yet another toddler who wont cut it in the men’s game like Denilson.

  449. A says:

lol that’s a genius prediction to make Jaguar, you seen alot of him then?

  450. choy says:

Song was a defender i think at first!

  451. Big Raddy says:

    LOL Jaguar. Superb comment

  452. Stu says:

Gotta love Arshavin even more because of what he says. He is injured but says he will play whenever he can. So much more refreshing than all the other players that are out for weeks because of nothing. Merida out for a month after being kicked on the ankle? WTF!

Heard about Wellington Boots getting a brace. If he is this good now then imo leaving him in the reserves would be pointless. He should be in the first team so he wont go stale elsewhere.

Have we signed anyone yet? ;)

  453. rico says:

    Hi Raddy..

    How tall is Wellington?

choy, i think you are right re Song, another player who has been ‘adapted’ to suit the cause…

  454. Jaguar says:

From hindsight A,Wenger’s obsession with Latin American kids have never bore fruit,be it Denilshite,Carlost Vela and others.

  455. A says:

Stu he isn’t allowed to play for us until January 2011, not a case of leaving him in the ressies

  456. A says:

obsession Jaguar?! lol wee bit of an overstatement don’t you think?!

Vela is superbly talented, and will become a quality player for us, I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t anyways.

So you’re judging Wellington Silva having not seen him, but because Wenger has bought a massive two other players from South America, who aren’t amazing?!

    I love your logic

  457. Goonerman says:

From another website, dunno how true:

    1. The Sun have lined up another EIGHT women who’ve slept with him in
the last 18 months or so. Enough for a couple of weeks of front
pages. Including FHMs own HSH, Tanya Robinson (SFW:
    http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/10_04/TanyaRobinsonTR_ 468×720.jpg)

    2. The front page today that Bridges ex, Vanessa, has slept with
five members of the Chelsea squad is only the beginning. Two other
Chelsea players – Gudjonsen and Drogba – were also sleeping with
Bridge’s girlfriend at the same time as Terry.
    3. The Sun is also paying Vanessa £250k to dish everything including
the fact that the ‘mystery’ fifth Chelsea player is, depressingly
predictably, Ashley Cole. Which should give Cheryl the excuse she
needs to finally dump him (now she’s no longer Racist Toilet Cleaner
Puncher, but the new Nation’s Sweetheart)
    4. JT has also been sleeping with current team mate Hilario’s wife
    (who also has kids).
    5. Away from the bedroom, JT also owes Wembley a substantial amount of
money for a box he owns and hasn’t paid for, even after he had mates
in there racking up a £20k bill at the FA Cup final.

  458. rico says:

    Jag – Vela ????

  459. paul says:

Pity the post did not mention our own spoilt prat Jet

  460. rico says:

    Edu??
    Gilberto??

Are you saying you think they were both poor Jag??

  461. Stu says:

Balls! Why the hell is that A!

  462. Jaguar says:

Vela would be a good player, but not under a manager like Wenger, who is keen on square pegs in round holes policy.

  463. choy says:

The point is where will he play A?

Will he displace Arsh, Vela , Theo, NikkiB ,Eddie, RVP, Rosicky?

  464. choy says:

    eh where is my comment?

  465. Jaguar says:

No Rico, they were not unproven toddlers, when we bought them.

  466. A says:

Players from Brazil aren’t allowed to move to a club abroad until they’re 18 Stu. Think his 18th birthday is something like the 6th or 8th January.

Same reason Pato signed for Milan about a year before he was allowed to play for them.

  467. rico says:

Ah, sorry Jag, I thought you meant all …

  468. A says:

Have to wait and see choy, depends how good he is when he arrives, how other players develop over the next 12 months etc

  469. choy says:

I think its just silly money being spent.. we have enough youth strikers to last 10 years.. sadly none for now!

  470. Stu says:

Technically Edu when we bought him was unproven. Only about 22 and hadnt left brazil yet. Neither had Gilberto but he had just won the WC.

  471. A says:

I disagree choy, wellington silva is hugely hyped in brazil, and could arrive and be for us what pato was for milan two years ago. For someone with that much potential to be available on the cheap it would be absolutely ridiculous for us not to sign him. Not like spending that money would have any influence on our ability to sign a striker for now.

  472. Mr B says:

Why dont we buy a proper 16 yearold like him???

  473. goonermichael says:

I still think the mancs are rubbish. Rednose has the beating of Wenger though. If I’m right we may still have a chance.

  474. goonermichael says:

    Choy
    You could replace Theo!

  475. leon says:

jag is this wenger that groomed henry pires edu veria berdkamp lumberg and all the good players that have become top class under him sorry mate yes there has been while since won something but we dont have big owner and maybe to win more titles we,big question arsenal fans hould we have staid at hibury to win more titles because we would have more spending power

  476. A says:

of course we still have a chance gm, though we do need an absolute minimum of 4 points from the next two games, and i’m not optimistic of us getting anything against chelsea

  477. Keyser says:

    Silvinho was class.

  478. Mr B says:

    Big, Strong, Quick, Skillful, AnpiLEGstrix.

    WHY A??? WHY???

  479. choy says:

He’s just going to play a few carling cup games, become a hero like vela and play 2 or 3 games in the PL and sit on the bench if he’s lucky.

Because when push comes to shove, wenger will play a midfielder when our main striker is injured, for all his trust in this youth policy, he really won’t let a young striker lead the line for this club.

And when we question silva’s potential it will be because he’s not playing enough and fans will begin to question him and his ability.

  480. rico says:

i’m off to cook dinner, see you all soon

  481. A says:

It depends how good he is choy. You honestly saying that Wenger won’t play a young player?!

That’s the first time I’ve heard someone say that Wenger sides with older players over younger players!

  482. Stu says:

I always knew Pato cost Milan a fair bit but had no idea it was 22m..Thats a shitload for a 17year old. How much did we pay for Wellington?

  483. choy says:

And there are even more strikers competing:

Sunu, Simpson, Watt, Murphy, Freeman, Afobe, Deacon.

  484. choy says:

When was the last time a youth player led the line since rvp’s injury?

  485. A says:

Very little Stu! Something like £3.5 mil, but gave them just over half of it now because they have financial difficulties or something.

  486. goonermichael says:

I’m not either A but we play a bit safer away and we’ll have diaby so hopefully denilson won’t play. I’m clutching at straws a bit though

  487. A says:

What youth players are there choy?! Bendtner is a young player, and would have led the line had he been fit. Bendtner led the line when he was a teenager as well when we had injuries….

Those are youth players, not the same as young players in the first team squad!

Simpson is shite, Watt, Murphy and Sunu are a long way away if they ever make it, and Freeman and Afobe are u18 players, and will still be u18 players next season, as will Deacon, though he’s not a striker!

None of them are the same as signing a young Brazilian wonderkid!

  488. choy says:

Where do you reckon the money is coming from A?

It is the transfer kitty alloted to wenger that he’s spending from!

  489. AfriX says:

Why is Almunia talking 2 the press? That clown must shut the f@ck up!

  490. choy says:

So who is he going to replace A?

    This wonder kid of yours?

  491. A says:

choy it isn’t like a computer game where Wenger is given say £20 mil, and therefore there’s only £18.2 mil to spend with that gone. If Wenger then found a striker for £20 mil he’d have the money to sign him.

£1.8-£2 mil is fuck all and wouldn’t make a difference to the club’s ability to find funds for a first team player

  492. choy says:

All our young players are/were dubbed wonderkids!

Theo, Vela, Denilson, Diaby, NikkiB, Fab, Song!

Given that it took them at least 2-3 years to even look like decent footballers, I wouldn’t be getting too excited about this silva fella!

  493. A says:

Because the press asked him questions Afrix, so he answered them….

No idea choy, as I said it’s 12 months time, players could leave, be injured, systems could change etc, we don’t know what sort of player he’ll be in 12 months time….

  494. choy says:

    Of course!

At the beginning of the transfer window, ” Dzeko is out of our price range, so is gignac!”

At the end of the transfer window, ” We can spend 30 mill on one special special player”

He says he can’t find another ronaldo, well he could’ve signed the original winker for 5- 10 mill more!

  495. choy says:

    *If he’d offered

  496. A says:

Not a single one of the youth players you listed before were or are choy, apart from Afobe perhaps. Bendtner wasn’t when he was arrived, only theo, vela and cesc are similar, though theo had alot to do with his being english

  497. A says:

    i don’t understand what you’re saying choy?

You saying we shouldn’t have signed wellington silva, but should’ve signed ronaldo back then?

surely they’re very similar situations, apart from utd had their clutches on ronaldo

  498. A says:

also – wenger never said either of those players were out of our price range, he said they were overpriced, there’s a big difference there.

  499. choy says:

Nicklas Bendtner was born on 16th January 1988 in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was a highly-rated youngster, and was offered trials at all the big Copenhagen clubs ahead of signing on for KB (Kopenhagen Boldklub) at the age of 14.

His natural ability ensured he progressed up the youth teams, with Nicklas often playing against players two or three years older than him. He shot to prominence with 4 goals in 6 games for the Danish U16s, and was immediately sought after by the big clubs.

Nicklas Bendtner signed for Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal on 17th July 2004, aged just 16. Other clubs had shown an interest, most notably Chelsea, but Bendtner was sure that Arsenal was the right club for him – Wenger had a reputation for letting youngsters play in the first team.

  500. choy says:

Over priced and out of his price range.

    End result: no spending!

  501. A says:

Obviously he was highly rated when he arrived choy, or we wouldn’t have even been interested in him! He certainly wasn’t deemed a wonder kid though, there was no hype about him. Lupoli was much more hyped in the reserves, and when he first came on as sub in the league cup when vp i think it was got injured, everyone was asking who the fuck he was!

  502. A says:

no choy, overpriced, but not out of our price range at all.

It’s like having a £10 note in your pocket, going to buy a chocolate bar, and the seller asking for £5 quid. It’d overpriced, therefore you won’t pay it, but it isn’t out of your price range.

  503. choy says:

Diaby was dubbed the new Vieira!

We fought with Pool over Denilson, he captained every age group with brazil, except the seniors!

  504. SUGA3 says:

someone just copied and pasted my post onto his own blog – cheeky fecker ;)

I only found out thanks to a link to another post from a few days earlier…

    I’m flattered

  505. choy says:

He sells two players for 40 mill thus inflating the market!

And he says players are overpriced!

  506. SUGA3 says:

    A,

it depends how hungry you are, doesn’t it?

  507. Pedro says:

A, if your salary is tied to the profit of the company, everyone is going to be over priced.

Arsene Wengers definition of value is hugely below reality.

He doesn’t want value players, he wants cheap players.

  508. Keyser says:

Suga3 – and if there’s no other options.

  509. Keyser says:

Pedro – Whats the reality then ?! What examples are there ?!

  510. SUGA3 says:

    Keyser,

sure thing mate, but what ‘other options’ did we have?

    low supply = higher price

  511. A says:

Pedro I wasn’t getting into the discussion about Wenger’s valuations again!

I was just explaining to choy the difference between something being overpriced, and something being out of one’s price range!

  512. Stu says:

Bendtners debut? Wasnt it against Doncaster or someone in the league cup. Bendy played right win with flowing locks of blonde hair. He looked ridiculous.

  513. leon says:

sorry but in my mind if wenger cant find a player who can score at least 15-20 goals a season then why should he buy anyone that there no way the likes david villa ets were leaving in jan it was always going to be extremly difficult get decent striker in jan think about this way which decent manager in there right mind would sell there top striker in the middle of the season

  514. Stu says:

Hahahah awful fucking defending by St.Ettiene(sp). http://iraqgoals.net/ch2.html Nearly over though.

  515. Pedro says:

    Keyser, reality.

    Ronaldo, price £12million —-> Sold for £80million

    Alonso, price £15million —-> Sold for £25million

Ribery, price £20million —-> Price tag now, £60million

  516. SUGA3 says:

    leon,

any player has a price, simple as…

and it’s not like our squad is swarming with 15-20 gps strikers is it?

  517. Keyser says:

Suga3 – In relation to A’s analogy and Ronaldo ? Loads, he was a spotty teenager with a lot of talent. How many other players would fit into that category ?!

  518. choy says:

The discussion A and myself were having is that we really don’t need another wonder kid!

We have enough of wonder kids and we don’t like them very much at the moment!

  519. Pedro says:

Wenger wants dirt cheap and we only really get players if they’re really young or no one else wants them.

    That is our reality.

  520. AfriX says:

Aon Almunia is the last player who should b talking 2 the press after his goal on Sunday, am tired of Arsenal players mouthing off at the press then show us tripe on the field! If he talks to the press he must apologise 4 his shenanigans & work harder! 2 hell with Almunia!

  521. Jaguar says:

Apparently,Wenger made a bid of £125,000 for David Villa. He sells his players at exorbitant prices, holds a player against his wish to move, because the buying club, didnt want to pay over the odds, for that player.Wenger is a cheap bastard.

  522. choy says:

A.. when that same chocolate is sold for 30 pounds fella.. I will be fackin pissed!

  523. B.B.K. says:

what has happend to this guy ^^^^^^

  524. SUGA3 says:

    Keyser,

now that’s some error of judgment, ain’t it?

which of the players that we went for instead is anywhere near Winker?

  525. choy says:

Nice timing BBK.. there’s another wonderkid.. wonder what happened to him!

  526. A says:

But choy then you brought in Ronaldo as an example….

Surely that would be someone who disproves your argument and shows the value of getting in players THAT talented?! Same with cesc

  527. Keyser says:

Pedro – I don’t get the point there, you’re saying he should be able to predict their future value ?!

How many times has he done that over the years and how many times has he got it right ?!

  528. SUGA3 says:

    B.B.K.

    apparently, he has ‘made it’…

  529. Jaguar says:

    Am I under moderation, :(

  530. A says:

Afrix they don’t “mouth off” in the press, they’re interviewed, and respond to questions. They don’t decide themselves that they have something to say so phone up the press to speak about stuff.

  531. SUGA3 says:

    Keyser,

but it is here & now that he should be particularly interested in: how the fuck do you go into the game against champions without a single recognised striker?

  532. Keyser says:

Suga3 – You’re looking at it from the wrong perspective, think of the all things you’ve questioned Wenger over in the past few months, his youth policy, the amount he spends on youth and the players we’ve got right now and then go back to when United pipped us to Ronaldo.

Even then Carlos Queiroz was a pretty big factor.

  533. choy says:

    Yes A..

That’s what wenger was saying! He can’t find another ronaldo, and I said he couldn’t shell out the cash, so why does he need to make that statement!

Let somebody else buy wonderkids! We have enough players who are/were termed wonderkids!

Its not like he’s the last wonderkid on earth, is he?

  534. SUGA3 says:

    Keyser,

I am all OK with this kiddie bollocks, as long as we are competitive in the ‘real world’, simple as…

but he should be banned from signing kids until he wins a trophy IMO…

that should give him some motivation ;)

  535. B.B.K. says:

what has happend to him,is he an imposter

  536. choy says:

Exactly, stop buying kids for sometime!

Use that money for the first team!

  537. colonel mustard says:

Pedro well done…Keyser put in his box…spending 20 million is sometimes an investment

  538. A says:

Choy I really don’t understand your point.

Wellington Silva now = Ronaldo when he was at Sporting Lisbon.

You saying we should have signed Ronaldo, but shouldn’t sign Wellington Silva now?!

Or are you saying that you’re happy that we didn’t sign Ronaldo, and that’s why we shouldn’t sign Wellington Silva?

Wenger has NEVER said that he COULDN’T shell out the cash for Ronaldo, or anyone, it’s that he WOULDN’T if he feels a player is overpriced.

You need to understand the difference there.

  539. SUGA3 says:

    B.B.K.

he must be Lewis Hamilton – expect rubbish F1 driving this season too!

  540. leon says:

suga thats true but lets not forget that we are 1-2nd top goal scorers without rvp yes we could with some phsical presence but this team has never and will never have problem scoring goals if they perform well and my point it has nothing do with money because most mangers wont sell atop striker in the middle of the season no matter what money you offer not in jan may be in the summer,if fergi was ogfferd 100 mill for rooney in jan still would never take it because he would want the title won first

  541. A says:

I genuinely don’t get how anyone could be against the signing of a wonder kid for such a small fee, it could prove to be an amazing signing, and the £1.8 mil doesn’t prevent us spending money on the first team at all. There really isn’t a negative aspect to it

  542. SUGA3 says:

    A,

mate, you have to understand that what is an everyday market price is usually ‘overpriced’ for OGL…

some players cost more and other cost less for a reason…

you pay peanuts, you get monkeys ;)

  543. Goonerman says:

Pedro – if u dont like my comments in moderation delete it.

  544. choy says:

    A..

Ronaldo is past tense, wenger didn’t rate him highly enough. No big deal. We had good players back then.

Now, present tense. Is our first team good enough? No.
Should we spend on young players? Will he make the difference now? When money is apparently very tight, should he dish out on a young striker? Hell no.

  545. SUGA3 says:

    leon,

if someone offered Manure £100M for Shrek, they would have snatched their arm off!

plus, we don’t need a ‘top’ player, we need a player of reasonable quality to make up the numbers…

  546. A says:

SUGA3, again I’m not going to discuss whether the valuations are right or not, and I havn’t said anything about that!

  547. choy says:

That very amount of 1.8m would’ve probably kept cole, or flamini or even both!

That amount of 1.8m would’ve probably had gotten us alonso!

  548. A says:

choy you’ve got no idea why we didn’t sign Ronaldo, but that isn’t relevant to this current discussion.

Money isn’t tight, the £1.8 million spent now, will have NO impact on the money Wenger has available for a first team signing right now.

  549. SUGA3 says:

    A,

do you think £13M for Remy was too much? I don’t…

    how about £9M for Chamakh?

either would help us out a lot, had he been signed on Jan 1…

  550. A says:

choy again – you need to understand the difference between being able to afford to pay an amount, and being willing to!!

We didn’t not spend on cole, or flamini, because we didn’t have the money!

We didn’t offer them what they allegedly wanted, because we didn’t feel that they were worth it. We had the money to pay it if we had wanted to, it wasn’t because of anyone else we’d signed, or not signed.

  551. choy says:

Alright .. wenger is tight! but he’s not realizing that buy the time silva would’ve realized his potential we would’ve spent a fortune on him!

  552. A says:

SUGA I’m not talking about whether valuations were right or wrong.

Though Chamakh wasn’t available for that price anyways in January.

  553. B.B.K. says:

    B.B.K.

he must be Lewis Hamilton – expect rubbish F1 driving this season too!
    lollll

  554. SUGA3 says:

    A,

are you saying Cole wasn’t worth these 5K more? do the maths – that’s 250K p.a. difference, not a lot, is it?

  555. A says:

He doesn’t care about that fortune we’ve spent on him choy, because it’ll have absolutely no impact on funds available for him to do his job, or the success of the club, and he’ll either end up being a superb player for the club, or we’ll sell him and recover every penny we’ve spent on him

  556. choy says:

  557. A says:

SUGA, for the last time, I’m not saying anything about whether the valuations were right or wrong

  558. choy says:

And for all this wonderkid nonsense, we’re already knocked out of the FA youth cup!

  559. Keyser says:

Colonel Mustard – Is it a nice box ? Whats yours look like ? Have you managed to decorate yet ?!

  560. A says:

I phrased that badly Choy. I was saying that the reason behind us not offering those players what we wanted, was NOT because we didn’t have enough money, it was because of our valuations of their worth.

  561. choy says:

    Alright A.. phew..

I think that we shouldn’t be spending money on wonderkids at the moment.

We’ll agree to disagree and end this debate :)

  562. SUGA3 says:

    A,

if that’s not penny wise pound foolish, then I dunno what is…

less money spent -> substandard players -> poor play -> no trophies -> smaller fanbase -> lower attendances -> less money

    vicious circle, that…

like I said yesterday: when the attendances will drop to 37K or thereabouts, I will absolutely piss myself laughing…

  563. A says:

choy I’m not saying whether we should or shouldn’t be spending on wonderkids

I’m saying that spending on wonderkids has absolutely no impact on spending on the first team.

  564. leon says:

suga your missing the point no manager unless the clug strapped for cash will sell a top player particualy if fighting a title not in the middle of the season and niether of the players you mentioned are will to move in jan

  565. SUGA3 says:

    leon,

Remy was available – why not buy him? and £13M is not fortune either…

  566. Keyser says:

Suga3 – You do say some odd things, why would you piss yourself laughing, also why does 37 thousand have some sort of special significance ?!

  567. SUGA3 says:

    A,

‘I’m saying that spending on wonderkids has absolutely no impact on spending on the first team’

well, technically you’re right – we spend fuck all on the first team, just improve shit players’ contracts, that doesn’t count in my book…

    it’s just bad management…

  568. leon says:

suga has occurd to you he is not as good you think he is how many times have you seen play because i can garantee wenger has had scouts watching him

  569. SUGA3 says:

    Keyser,

sorry, I wasn’t accurate: 38,419, that’s the capacity of Highbury when we moved out ;)

will piss myself laughing at these twats who thought they were smarter than anyone else…

    I mean the board…

  570. SUGA3 says:

    leon,

Grimandi said he was exceptional, that is good enough a recommendation for me…

    but £13M? zut alors…

  571. Jaguar says:

AKB’s would be happy even if we win nuffin,or our attendance drops to 10000 as long as Mr.Wenger gets his bonus.AKBs are fucking mugs/retards.

  572. SUGA3 says:

    *good enough recommendation

  573. David says:

When was the last time we saw Wenger watching the opposition?

Moyes was at the Chelsea game last night and SAF having a laugh with someone when we played Villa.

If youre not going to sign players at least get your tactics right ffs.

  574. SUGA3 says:

    David,

tactics? what tactics? we are so one dimensional it’s unbelievable…

  575. Ray in SF says:

I was sorry we didn’t get Remy…13 million seemed to be realistic, and a price he would have kept until next summer’s transfer window, in the event he didn’t fit in

  576. Ray in SF says:

I saw a blog that suggested that AW only focuses on how his team plays and Ferg focused on both his team and the opponents.

It made a lot of sense to me.

Sorry not to remember where I read it — have been reading a lot recently trying to make some sense out of the crumbling season.

  577. Ray in SF says:

and, given that other teams are also going to target Gael, what do you think of playing Traore in left-midfield to support him?

  578. SUGA3 says:

    Ray,

we just apply the same tactic to every game, then Wenger moans about ‘physical approach’ and ‘defensive tactics’…

  579. SUGA3 says:

Traore is more suited to the winger’s role in 4-4-2 IMO…

  580. SUGA3 says:

    come on you mighty Leeds!

  581. choy says:

A.. when we buy youth players, it comes out of the transfer kitty.

The money spent on extending contracts is also from the same kitty.

  582. A says:

choy there isn’t a set amount for the transfer kitty. If there is a deal Wenger wants done, then it would NEVER not happen, because we didn’t have £1.8 mil due to signing a youth player. The only way £1.8 million would impact our ability to buy for the first team, is if Wenger wanted to spend EVERY penny available, which would never ever happen.

SUGA Traore is an attacking full back, he could never play in a 4-4-2 imo, doesn’t have the intelligence nor technique.

  583. choy says:

Traore spent most of last season at pompey as a winger in a 442

  584. SUGA3 says:

    A,

‘Arry played him in that role at Pompey and he did quite well…

  585. David says:

And scored an intelligent goal using fantastic technique outside the box.

  586. SUGA3 says:

    A,

‘there isn’t a set amount for the transfer kitty’

come on mate, how ridiculous us that?

  587. A says:

Yeah – Pompey most certainly aren’t Arsenal! He could play for a team that just has wingers who hug the touchline, run fast, and cross constantly, but that’s certainly not us. He can’t participate in quick, intricate passing moves.

  588. SUGA3 says:

‘just has wingers who hug the touchline, run fast, and cross constantly’

is it not what our fullbacks do most of the time?

  589. A says:

Not ridiculous at all SUGA, it’s ridiculous if people think real life is like a compute game, whereby a manager gets exactly £x million for transfers, and every penny he spends reduces that amount, and every penny he doesn’t remains there.

There would NEVER be a situation where Wenger is given £20 mil, spends £1.8 mil on a player, then wants to buy a player for £20 mil, and the board say “no you can’t because that would be £1.8 mil over your budget

  590. David says:

    Speaking of technique

Who crosses better than Traore at the club? Apart from the obvious ofcoarse.

  591. A says:

Yeah it is SUGA – exactly, Traore is suited to be a full back for us.

  592. SUGA3 says:

    A,

well, you are getting certain amount of dosh to play with, so it is pretty much ‘like a computer game’…

how much did we spend on kids? we could have these 2 players we need with their salaries for that…

think Denilson: bought for £4M, how much did he get in salaries? a good few bob…

do you seriously think we would recoup that if we were to sell him? would we fuck…

  593. ethangunner says:

    SUGA3 Says:

    ethan,

    just taking a piss ;)
    —————————-
    WHAT ? on me ???….

  594. A says:

He’s a good crosser of the ball David, and has a good shot on him

  595. Stu says:

Well Bendtner is obviously one of our best crossers David. Apart from that its hard to tell because our better players dont cross and our players that do (not knowing what else to do) are pretty shit at it (ie our fullbacks).

Also, Inter vs Fiorentina http://iraqgoals.net/5817-inter-vs-fiorentina.html for anyone who wants to watch.

  596. leon says:

all i know is when it comes to big money buys wenger hardly ever gets in wroung he may buy as many players as imwould like but most of them quality buys

  597. SUGA3 says:

    ethan,

    would I ever? c’mon…

  598. Stu says:

Traore would be fantastic is he was a good defender..but alas he is not.

  599. colonel mustard says:

keyser – the mustard box is mustard…

  600. A says:

SUGA I don’t get your point.

People saying that we could spend less on kids, and then we could’ve paid Flamini and Cole more, are TOTALLY missing the point….

We refuse to pay certain amounts as wages, or transfer fees, because of what the club VALUES the player at.

That valuation wouldn’t be different whether there was £20 mil or £100 mil in the kitty as such.

The reason we won’t pay certain amounts is not because we don’t have the money, it’s because of the valuations.

Whether we spent on kids or not wouldn’t affect those valuations in the slightest

  601. A says:

Stu is Keirrison playing for Fiorentina?

  602. Mr B says:

Well A do u think we have been getting this valuation business wrong.

  603. SUGA3 says:

    A,

but these valuations are wrong, as these players command much higher wages somewhere else, simple as ;)

it’s not being disloyal, it’s just not letting anyone bumfuck you…

  604. Stu says:

I couldnt tell you A. Dont know the teams. Gilardino is playing though…do they play 4-3-3 or 4-4-2?

Anyway, i dont know what Kerrison looks like so i wouldnt know if i saw him.

  605. Mr B says:

We have missed out on a lot of good players because we didnt value them as much as they were worth. e.g. CR7, Alonso, Essien, etc etc. the list goes on and on.

  606. A says:

I’m not saying whether the valuations are right or wrong SUGA!

  607. SUGA3 says:

    A,

you’re not saying it, as you know they are wrong, simple as…

if you thought otherwise, there would be no end to it

  608. Stu says:

Well MrB, we can hardly blame Wenger for not outbidding Chelea for Essien and apparently Carlos Queeras was the main reason Ronaldo joined the mancs.

  609. choy says:

Well A.. to take your previous analogy.

You have 10 pounds.. and you don’t want to buy the lovely 5 pound chocolate.

You would rather buy all the ingredients instead, and go home and make the chocolate. If it ain’t that good, you continue that cycle.

So probably in the end you may have actually spent more than 5 pounds for a chocolate!

  610. Mr B says:

Can u give us an example of any business and I mean any business thats top of its industry or sector because its frugal.

  611. David says:

Yes Stu Bendy crosses the ball well…but we dont want him doing that now do we?

  612. David says:

    Balloteli is just class.

    Can play just about anywhere.

  613. A says:

It’s cool Stu, saw the line up. Never seen him play, but think he looks a bit like Wellington Silva!

choy or you could go and find a different shop that sells similar chocolate at a cheaper price….

  614. A says:

Yeah he is David, I really rate him. Just wish he wasn’t such a complete bellend, if he sorts that out he could be an amazing player.

  615. Mr B says:

U see if we had reached an agreement with sporting(is it?), then what ronaldo wanted would have been secondary.

  616. Stu says:

No we do not David…unless he is crossing to a CB or perhaps VP.

  617. choy says:

Aha.. now you sound like wenger

  618. A says:

Though choy, that wasn’t my point, I was just explaining that something being overpriced, isn’t the same as it being too much to afford.

SUGA that’s not the case, but that discussion has been had SO many times that I can’t be bothered to have it again!

  619. David says:

    A

I think Kierrison was loaned back to Benfica.

  620. SUGA3 says:

    A,

what if there are not too many shops around? do you pay £5 and live or starve looking for another place?

  621. Stu says:

Not necassarily MrB. Queeras was a deciding factor. They club can agree a fee with anyone they like but cant force a player to go where they like. Ronaldo would have still chosen united (provided we bid the same).

  622. ethangunner says:

    A Says:
    February 3, 2010 at 19:59

Yeah it is SUGA – exactly, Traore is suited to be a full back for us.
    ———————————–
I dont get your point ..

FUCK , I dont get your point ..alright..

now your bigging up traore , the same player who looked stupid V’s a 1st timer Korean player for Bolton , and he tore him a new asshole ,in the process . so much so clichy had to come on.

    these players aren’t ready ..
your doing Arsenal an injustice to even suggest that our 3rd choice left back is suited to us ..

just the sort of fucked up mindset that has this club spinning its wheels !

  623. SUGA3 says:

    yeah, A, whatever ;)

  624. choy says:

A.. wenger does not have unlimited funds.

There is a transfer kitty for buying players all the way from nursery to the retirement home.

How he wishes to spend it is according to his discretion.

When you keep buying young players, the overall kitty reduces.

    Do you agree?

  625. A says:

That was in the summer David, he returned to Barca in January and was loaned out to Fiorentina, who he chose over Milan.

I was thinking about that the other day. IF Milan had gotten Keirrison, MAYBE Huntelaar would’ve gone to Everton and we could’ve gotten Saha! Just a bit of meaningless speculation there

  626. Pedro says:

Sorry Keyser, I was side tracked by an e-mail.

My point isn’t about predicting future value, it’s assessing value by reality.

Alonso was a great player at Liverpool, he was the perfect age and he was a winner. He was clearly worth £15million.

Everyone could see that Ronaldo was going to be worth the £12million.

    Everyone knew about Ribery’s quality.

Just maybe a player has a large price tag because he’s worth it. We never take that risk even though we can afford to.

  627. A says:

Yeah of course choy, but that’s IF Wenger spends every penny of the money available to him, and I don’t believe he has ever spent even half of what he could spend if he felt the players were worth it, so it’s a moot point.

  628. Stu says:

1-0 inter. Milito goal, Balotelli assist.

  629. David says:

Fuck it Balloteli is worth 30m.

  630. SUGA3 says:

    A,

not spending money available when the deficiencies of the squad are obvious to anyone is negligent…

again, bonus for not spending is a conflict of interests…

  631. ethangunner says:

Though choy, that wasn’t my point, I was just explaining that something being overpriced,
isn’t the same as it being too much to afford.
    ————————-
    WHAT ?

yes its the same damn thing !

thats what over priced generally means !
it means your paying too much ..

OR THE ITEM IS OVER PRICED !

    fuck what a waffler !

  632. Stu says:

Based on just that assits David?

  633. Pedro says:

Jag, you changed computer or something… you’re not in moderation.

  634. A says:

Pedro we don’t know which of, if ANY of those players, we didn’t get because we wouldn’t pay a big enough transfer fee.

  635. SUGA3 says:

    A,

your naivety doesn’t stop to amuse me ;)

  636. zak says:

After reading both sides of the valuation debate I have to Agree with A that his arguement is correct, however I also belive that Arsenal’s transfer value’s and policy is INcorrect. How many players have we missed out on for the sake of being outbid, only for that player to go on and make it big or to be sold on at a huge profit.

  637. Pedro says:

    Alonso, Ronaldo and Ribery.

No player is worth £20mill to Wenger, it’s as simple as that. He’ll never take the punt.

I guarantee he was never in for Villa.

  638. eboue says:

my balls are worth 30 million

  639. A says:

ethan come on now, it isn’t complicated.

Something being more than you are willing to pay, is not the same as not being able to afford it.

If a millionnaire went to buy a bar of chocolate, and you asked him for a million pounds, he would be able to afford it, but wouldn’t be willing to pay it.

  640. SUGA3 says:

    Spuds one up :(

  641. David says:

    The last 2 seasons Stu

Maybe im getting ahead of meself but the boy looks qualitee above everyone else on the pitch imo…

    Anyways…spilt milk

  642. Pedro says:

A, that is a ridiculous analogy.

Wenger is the millionaire in the chocolate shop who wont pay 55p for a 50p chocolate bar.

  643. Pedro says:

He’ll buy up all the penny sweets he can lay his hands on in the hope they’ll be tastier than the nicely packaged chocolate bar.

  644. A says:

Pedro I’m not talking about Wenger, or anything to do with arsenal….

I’m trying to explain to ethan that something being “overpriced”, is not the same as being “more than you can afford”

With regards to that it’s an ideal analogy!

  645. choy says:

Like I said earlier, he himself inflates the transfer market!

  646. SUGA3 says:

    A,

when you can afford someone who is highly likely to help you in the push on all fronts, then not spending is just daft…

  647. ethangunner says:

we don’t know which of, if ANY of those players, we didn’t get because we wouldn’t pay a big enough transfer fee.
    ————————————–
ID SAY ALL OF EM !
wenger has been known to haggle on price on just about every turn !

    NASRI – HAGGLED TOO LONG
AA23 – FOR 1 MONTH haggling ,not afraid to let the deal fall over obviously .
    TV- HAGGLED

most clubs wont put up with a month long transfer … id say most would tell wenger where the sun dont shine if the price is a joke!

which im sure most of wenger initial bids are !

  648. choy says:

He takes home one of the biggest salary in the world for a manager but refuses to pay them to players!

  649. Pedro says:

I’d say it looks like too much of Wengers personal wealth is caught up in Arsenal.

His only bonuses should be based on winning trophies.

The board should have control of what he can and cannot have.

  650. gambon says:

A, the problem is Wenger wouldnt be “willing to pay” £30m for the entire Barca squad.

    He is an unrealistic cheapskate.

He doesnt try to sign players, he tries to miss out on them so he can tell everyone he “almost signed them”

If i went into an Aston dealership and offered £30k for a brand new DBS what would your conclusion be?….that i didnt really want it in the first place, i was just messing around.

Wengers actions in the transfer market recentley is pathetic.

  651. choy says:

Your affordability, and overpricing theory is also based on valuation A, and you’re hiding from that very important word.

    Valuation!

  652. Pedro says:

    Gambon, spot on.

  653. Pedro says:

We’d have given up on Arshavin if Spurs had offered £15mill

  654. David says:

    A

But Wenger uses the terms “overpriced” and “too expensive for us” or in other words “more than we can afford” …interchangeably.

  655. SUGA3 says:

Snodgrass is tearing Bale a new one…

  656. SUGA3 says:

    hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

    GET IN

  657. gambon says:

Agreed Pedro, he acts like every penny he spends results in a smaller paypacket.

Whether it does or not who knows.

Its pretty clear no-one at the club gets any bonus for winning, except the girls.

  658. Keyser says:

Pedro – The answer lies in your own statement there, they were ALL PUNTS, you take a risk with everything you do. Ronaldo might have been worth 12 million then, it’s still debatable, but how many are going to turn out to be worth 80 million later on.

There was no need to put their values at point of sale then if that was your point, at the end of the day people complain about the PUNTS Wenger has taken on all the youth and then at the same time question why he hasn’t taken more expensive ones at the same time ?!

  659. choy says:

And David.. what does he say at the end of a transfer window?

“We have 30 mill to spend on a single player”

  660. Telarse says:

    Nice one Leeds!

Jebus it’s great to be able to enjoy watching a match without all the nail biting, stomach churning and emotional shit the Arse put us through!

  661. SUGA3 says:

yet, £13M for Remy is ‘too much’

    aaaaarghhh…

  662. ethangunner says:

Something being more than you are willing to pay, is not the same as not being able to afford it.
    ——————————————-
it still makes it over priced !

    doesnt it ..

fuck me ! anyway too much waffling on about pure BS currently ..

and the point EVERYONE is trying to make A-kb
, is readi made players WORK !

man U – The chev’s – Man shitty and now even the spuds are proving that ..

i think the lack of silverware HAS MORE THAN PROVEN this is taking too long !

most managers would be sacked after 5 years in the EPL of not getting anywhere .. and far lower profile clubs than us !

hell most dont even last a season if they dont get results …

now can you read between them lines easier ??

  663. Pedro says:

Keyser… educated punts of the highest degree.

Ronaldo was hot property, clearly a special talent and Wenger knew it.

Ribery was electric and doing it on the international stage. Thierry was a massive fan too…

    Alonso was not a punt.

You can’t take risk out of life Keyser.

Tell me, what is riskier to a teams title challenge?

Signing Alonso or sticking a season out with Denilson?

  664. Keyser says:

    gambon – Thats bollocks, honestly.

“If i went into an Aston dealership and offered £30k for a brand new DBS what would your conclusion be?….that i didnt really want it in the first place, i was just messing around.”

How is that the same as buying players, or young players ? Or players from different leagues ? Or countries ?!

  665. SUGA3 says:

    Pedro,

Alonso is a risk, Denilson is a dead cert failure…

  666. Mr B says:

    LOL@Pedro 20.37

  667. Pedro says:

Keyser, bidding £7.5mill on a player worth £12mill if the Smalling thing is to be believed.

Offering £12mill for a player worth £15mill if the Alonso deal is to be believed.

Offering £7.5 for Chamakh when the club wanted £12million

All seems pretty similar to offering £30k for an Aston that’s worth £100k

  668. A says:

David I’ve not heard him say we can’t afford someone

  669. David says:

    precisely choy! :D

    Hahaha Pedro

We have the great fortune of hindsight to tell us how much of a risk take it was to stick with Denilson and Song for that matter over the coarse of the season and failing to sign Alonso.

Fuck me…Alonso and Cesc in midfield….WHAT!?!?

  670. ethangunner says:

    Pedro Says:
    February 3, 2010 at 20:33

We’d have given up on Arshavin if Spurs had offered £15mill
    ————————————-
    precisely ..

then we could have said we missed out on him also!
wenger loves telling you the players he missed ,

how about the ones he signed , like denilson – song – diaby all took ages to even earn there keep !

with months and months of failures , wouldnt it just be best to save 3 or 4 years of wages and just get someone who can play aptly .. TODAY !

    NOW ?

it seems to get other clubs a leg up quickly !
buying a readi- made player ..

  671. Keyser says:

Pedro – You’re talking about certainties, guarantees and definitives when they are all PUNTS.

It’s not about taking the risk out of it, all this sweetshop analogy crap is rubbish aswell, how many different things do you consider when you buy a specific player.

Ronaldo was hot property, so was Quaresma, both have left a very varied career.

I can understand saying he should take more risk, but how many players are you saying he should’ve gone for ?!

We’ve discussed Ronaldo before, if at the end of the day, United were prepared to get into a bidding war with us, and Ronaldo still preferred United because of Queiroz where would you stop ?!

It’s like with Arshavin, we got him in the end, he took a paycut or whatever to come here, why are we even bothering with hypotheticals about Tottenham when he’s actually with us now.

  672. rico says:

Its great to see Leeds score, especially when so many players were offside…

    I just love it :)

  673. Pedro says:

David, are you telling me you’d have had to weigh up a move for Alonso in case Denilson came good?

  674. gambon says:

    Keyser

Youve missed the point. Wenger knows he wont get the player when he makes these derisory bids. Just like I would if i offered £30k for a £160k car.

Answer this: What was more important for us to sign in this window

    A: A top class goalkeeper

    B: A 15 yo keeper, 16 yo striker & 17 yo Bolivian

I dont think theres any debate on that, and what was it we signed?

Ive no problem with us signing ridiculous amounts of kids, but only when we get our house in order with the first team.

  675. A says:

Pedro the last stories about Smalling were that we offered more not less than Utd did, and they had to increase their offer to match ours, which is why the deal took an extra 48 hours to go through.

With all of this we have no idea though, and there’s no more evidence that deals fell through because we weren’t willing to pay as much, than for any other reason.

  676. Mr B says:

Look Value subjective esp to market conditions and the buying power of the interested partys.

Most managers look at players aquisitions as ways of making the team stronger.

Wenger just has to add someonther variable in there to make things complicated.

  677. David says:

    A Says:
    February 3, 2010 at 20:41
David I’ve not heard him say we can’t afford someone

    —————————

    Selective memory A,

There are about 10 players Arsene said he cant afford.

    http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-story

  678. rico says:

    Alonso v’s Denilson……

    That’s like a Rolls Royce v’s a Skoda ;)

  679. A says:

gambon the point is though that A and B aren’t mutually exclusive.

B doesn’t make A any less likely to happen, it was NEVER and would NEVER be one or the other.

  680. choy says:

    A Says:
    February 3, 2010 at 20:41
David I’ve not heard him say we can’t afford someone

But you’ve heard him say someone’s too expensive for us!

  681. rico says:

    spot on gambon, spot on…

  682. A says:

lol David you’ve just brought up an article that goes against what you’re saying, and supports what I’ve been saying!

That article is Wenger saying we’ve got shitloads of money, and there are only 10 players in the entire world that we couldn’t afford

  683. David says:

    Pedro

Im telling you id have killed Denilson and Signed Alonso.

As if to say youth players never come good unless they embarrass themselves time and time again when they are way over above their head.

  684. Pedro says:

    Quaresma didn’t interest Wenger… so that’s not a point.

It’s not a punt when it’s class, I’m sorry… certain players are just worth it.

Arshavin only joined in the end after everyone dropped out of the running. Was he worth £23million? Without a shadow of a doubt. So if Spurs had stumped up… we’d have lost him too…

The only reason we got him in the end was becuase it was a one club bidding war.

  685. Ray in SF says:

I know it’s bogus, but some fodder from a comparison of this year’s and last year’s schedules/results

After the equivalent 24 fixtures last season the points were

    ManU 55 Chelsea 57 and Arsenal 37

this year the teams have the following points

    ManU 55 Chelsea 53 and Arsenal 49

in the equivalent run-out fixtures last year the teams gained

    ManU 35 Chelsea 26 and Arsenal 35

if all three teams repeat last year’s results that gives season totals of

    ManU 90, Chelsea 81, Arsenal 84

Only the away win at Stamford Bridge was a ‘great’ result, matching the remaining results is very feasible.

My prediction…81 points and a comfortable third place

  686. A says:

choy of course I’ve heard him say someone is too expensive, that doesn’t mean that we couldn’t afford them!

    This really isn’t rocket science!!

  687. gambon says:

    A

We should do A before we even think about doing B, not least because he used £5m doing B that he couldve used towards A.

    see what i mean A? i mean B…no A!

  688. SUGA3 says:

    A,

still, we are signing kids like people were to stop fucking and neglect the first team, no?

  689. Keyser says:

“Youve missed the point. Wenger knows he wont get the player when he makes these derisory bids. Just like I would if i offered £30k for a £160k car.”

Gambon – It’s still rubbish, we got Arshavin, we got Vermaelen, We got Ramsey, it’s not like we fail with all our bids, at the end of the day we can discuss this forever and not one of us will know all the details about all of the transfers.

You want it to be that, because you’ll have something to moan about, and I don’t think it’s true because it sounds too stupid to be true.

  690. Pedro says:

Keyser, I don’t think Gambon is moaning, he’s just stating fact.

We got Arshavin and Vermaelen becuase we were the only team in for him, we got Rambo becuase we are the place to be if you want to cut your teeth somewhere before moving on.

  691. David says:

    A

    thats counter intuitive…

You said you never heard him say it…yet he’s said it..

Weather they are 10 or 50 or 500000 that has nothing to do with the fact that he’s said

there are players we cant afford.

  692. A says:

gambon but B has no impact on A!

Every other aspect of the club doesn’t just cease to exist, or keep going, because one arm needs action on it!

A doesn’t not happen because of a lack of money, so that £5 million is an irrelevance. (although it wasn’t £5 mil anyways!)

  693. choy says:

A.. you’re buying into the spin provided by Wenger.

Sure he says he can afford to buy, but has he bought?

    Talk is cheap fella!

  694. Pedro says:

    True Choy, very true.

Put your money where your mouth is I say!

  695. ethangunner says:

last stories about Smalling were that we offered more not less than Utd did, and they had to increase their offer to match ours, which is why the deal took an extra 48 hours to go through.
    ————————–
so you believe the TABLOID BULLSHIT when it suits your argument ?

this is just a direct result of what winning trophies gets you ..

    1st pick !

  696. Mr B says:

They are not mutualy exclusive A. The resources interms of Esp. time wenger spends making those signings is limited.

So the oppurtunity cost of B is in a way A. He is not even looking for a keeper. There are no rumors, trials etc for keepers.

He is not deveting anytime to what will make the team stronger now and instead wasting it on what is becomming his personla obsession.

  697. Keyser says:

“Arshavin only joined in the end after everyone dropped out of the running. Was he worth £23million? Without a shadow of a doubt. So if Spurs had stumped up… we’d have lost him too…

The only reason we got him in the end was becuase it was a one club bidding war.”

Thats still too simplistic, Tottenham could’ve entered the war and Arshavin could still have refused to join, so back to Arsenal again or on a free at the end of the season.

You said it’s a PUNT, and thats exactly what it was, forget all this ‘we knew he’d be class’, I don’t get why you’re even going with that, follow your own comparisons, if everyone knew he’d be that good, then Madrid could have snapped him up in the first place.

  698. Keyser says:

Pedro – Thats your opinion, I have mine then, leave it at that.

  699. A says:

Yeah David, but he’s saying there that there are ONLY 10 players in the whole world we couldn’t afford.

When have we ever gone for one of the ten most expensive players in world football??

He’s never said it when talking about anyone we would have had any chance of getting, or genuine interest in, because it would never be the case.

  700. David says:

Whats the point of Madrid getting Arshavin when

    A. They already had an embarrasment of riches in that position and

    B. He wanted to go to Barcelona?

  701. Mr B says:

So what has comeout of wengers punts bar Fab??? anything as good as what those players or even nani has become.

  702. Keyser says:

David – Should have been clearer, thats about Ronaldo.

  703. gambon says:

    A,

They are completely tied to eachother.

If wenger has £30m to spend, and spends it all on kids, then he has £0 to spend on the first team.

If he has £30m and spends £5m (and it was £5m) then he has £25m……£5m less for the proven players we need.

Put it this way, if you were dying of thirst and had a £10 to spend, would you

A- Go and buy some water

B- Buy some crisps to eat while thinking about whether the water is too expensive, and then not buy any water at all.

Lets face it, until youve secured that water you shouldnt spend a penny on anything else.

Wenger would spend the whole £10 on crisps and tell us theyre super super class…..then die….just like our season has.

  704. David says:

    ROFL A

That is spin at its finest,

There are 10 players…did he mention them?

What about Gignac that he just said was “too expensive for us”

Does that mean Gignac is one of those 10?

  705. Pedro says:

Keyser… I don’t think there were many who doubted his ability. We’d all seen what he did at the world cup and we’d all seen him in the UEFA Cup.

He was also voted 5th best player in the world.

He was always going to be a top player.

Why would Madrid have signed him… he wasn’t Galactico enough for them and they knew they were signing Ronaldo that summer plus all the others.

  706. Ray in SF says:

I was thinking about the economics of buying young and grooming versus ready-made.

I think it’s Geoff’s point that by the time you pay their wages, you’ve paid the same amount, yet you’ve only had the services of a youngster instead of a star.

The only thing I can add that might be missing from this assessment is that the wages come out of successively yearly budgets instead of a lump-summish payment and maybe the economics make sense at some level.

Not to me, because we need a goalie the defense has confidence and we need a monster CF right now…well, actually, 8 months ago

  707. SUGA3 says:

    A,

yet, he chose to sit on his hands and do fuck all…

Bendtner: too much of ‘blowing hot & cold’, unreliable
    Eduardo: off pace, questionable fitness
Vela: what happened to this guy?
    Walcott: ditto

you have been repeating how ‘sure’ you were AW was going to sign a striker and you’ve been at it the whole month…

  708. ritesh says:

    Great morale boosting news today…

some 19 year old whizzkid, defender said we are to sign a pre-contract with him this thursday.

But we might have to sell some first teamers as they will stand in the way of that poor chap’s progress. Maybe we will sell Vermalen for a good profit, it will be beneficial to our economic stability and long term growth.

How lucky are we to be blessed with such a manager.

  709. Raugaj says:

Wenger didnt spend £12million on Ronaldo, but paid over his noses for an unproven toddler for Southampton.

  710. Pedro says:

    Gambon… the analogy master tonight!

A, why don’t you hit him with the chocolate bar one!

  711. Pedro says:

Light saber to pen knife I fear…

  712. Ray in SF says:

Gambon I like you’re crisp and water metaphor as buying crisps just makes us thirstier

  713. David says:

If we didnt sign Arshavin..we miss out on 4th spot.

And frankly the way Pedro is 10000% right.

We were the only club bidding.

Otherwise Wenger wouldnt have waited for so long to bust Zenits balls and threaten to get him on a free.

  714. Ray in SF says:

Gambon I like your crisp and water metaphor as buying crisps just makes us thirstier

  715. Pedro says:

Ray, exactly… if there is no financial benefit in it … what does it come down to? Because it’s not loyalty.

  716. A says:

No David, he never said we can’t afford Gignac, he’s obviously not one of those ten. It isn’t spin, I’m just explaining to you what Wenger was saying there, as you’ve interpretted it the opposite to how it was meant!

gambon if we spent ALL our transfer budget then yeah I’d agree, but I’d be surprised if we’ve ever spent more than half of our overall budget, so the signing of kids has absolutely no impact on our capabilities of signing first team players.

  717. Mr B says:

someone who is earning a measely 30,000 a month is costing us 1.56mil a year.

  718. Mr B says:

    *week

  719. gambon says:

Q- Would a top class keeper improve the team?
    A- Yes

Q- Will Wellington improve the team?
    A- No

Q- Will a backup DM improve the team?
    A- Yes

Q- Will Savic improve the team?
    A- No

Q- Will a striker have helped?
    A- Yes

Q- Did the 15 year old keeper help?
    A- No

So why are his priorities so fucked up?!

There is a known condition called “fear of success” where people will sabotage their own chances 0f success….clearly Arsene has this.

  720. ethangunner says:

wenger is worried what happens to song – denilson even rambo if he buys a new DM ,

so we dont get one , and wait .. and wait …

    and ….

the team doesnt improve all that quickly wengers way either , so instant success is hard to come by , every transfer takes years to bear fruit , and most dont even bear fruit at all !

its like the 2 swiss boys .. ones gone after years of wasted wages and the other is cack’ed,
for a year – not played for a year and injured for another .

6-7 years of paying them wages and transfers for what ?

For the smart man wenger is supposed to be he sure doesnt make it look like science !

  721. choy says:

Fackin A.. if you were my parent.. I would have missed out on a lot of chocolates

  722. gambon says:

BTW i should mention Nasri would have bought all the crisps already cos hes a fat ponce.

  723. SUGA3 says:

this Leeds GK is looking good…

  724. ritesh says:

    Gambon,

I think the players have that fear definitely. To a lesser extend Wenger has it too in the big occasions.

He is not a big match player like Red nose by any means. He lacks the aggression and desire

  725. Keyser says:

Pedro – What World Cup ? In 2002 ?! He’d played 25 times for Sporting Lisbon before United signed him ?!

  726. Mr B says:

Well A if we dont spend our budget how can he then claim we cannt afford a player???

Why does he not have the extra 3mil to spend on a proven player but has 5mil for unproven players???

    Its plain Madness!!!

  727. A says:

gambon if we’d spent £100 million on the first team Wellington would’ve still come in!

If we’d spent big money on kids then I would’ve agreed with you, but spending a grand total of under £2.5 million, is NOT going to prevent any first team signings!!!!

I don’t see how you object to Savic?? If we sign him he’s the same as Smalling, or were you pissed off about us going after him?

If we’d signed Smalling for £12-£14 mil, and people had objected about spending on the future, then there would have been some logic there, but spending peanuts isn’t going to prevent first team players coming in.

  728. choy says:

Like leaving Arsh and Song out for the FA Cup Semi Final..

    What the fook!

  729. A says:

Mr B he said there are only 10 players in the world we can’t afford, he never said we missed out on any players because we can’t afford them.

He doesn’t NOT have the extra £3 mil to add on to a transfer bid, he doesn’t value the player that highly to add it on, nothing whatsoever to do with not having the money if he wanted to.

  730. Pedro says:

    Arshavin… not Ronaldo.

  731. David says:

    YOur’re right A,

There is no later implication of “cant afford” and “being too expensive” the result has always and is always the same. Not spending.

We didnt Spend ALL our transfer budget on the kids…we spend some..add that to the new contracts we gave to 18…18…players….

I guess if there are only 10 players we cant afford then there should be only 10 players that are too expensive for us…period.

  732. ritesh says:

Why always go for small players…cant we buy proven big players?

  733. zak says:

This leeds keeper is having a superb game and looks real quality, commanding his area, excellent shot stopping, very good decision making. We need one like that, oh wait he’s on loan at the Bees’

  734. gambon says:

    A

I dont mind us signing Savic, but in conjunction with sorting the first team.

Its like that scene in the fast show where the guy gets back from the shops, hasnt bought any of the groceries but has bought baloons & fancy dress costumes & all sorts of random shit.

It was vital to sign a few key players in jan, but all we got were a load of kids we dont need.

  735. Keyser says:

Pedro – Was talking about Ronaldo in the post before that you replied to, not Arshavin.

  736. choy says:

A.. you’ve got persistence.. I’ll give you that.

  737. choy says:

I’m sure wenger is going with his check book to south africa!

  738. Mr B says:

Have any of u ever been in that situation where u go to a shop and u haggle for something. U know its worth a bit more than what is being charged but your ego demands that the seller show some leniency to your demand.

U end up leaving the shop having not bought something that was a good deal at the price, simplly because ur EGO couldnt handle the fact that you couldnt outsmart the seller into selling it even cheaper.

I think Wenger has that, he just wants to prove he’s smarter then everyone. hence his youth bullshit and his transfer stinginess.

He wont buy a player unless it satisfies his Ego.

  739. gambon says:

A, but how does he value a player, it is impossible to intrinsically value a footballer.

And it seems he value EVERY footballer over the age of 21 lower than every other manager in the game……doesnt he realise that maybe he’s undervaluing them?!! They cant all be wrong.

  740. David says:

    LOL

Balloteli got pissed and walked off the pitch cuz he didnt want to be substituted.

  741. A says:

gambon I’d guess that savic is to sort the first team – he’s a signing (if he’s earnt a deal) to join in the summer, just as Smalling would have been. If there is a budget, then signing Savic for £2 mil will give us £10-£12 mil more in the summer to spend rather than if we’d gotten Smalling!

Savic is also happening AFTER the transfer window has ended, so when noone could come in now to sort the first team anyways

choy i just don’t get how so many people don’t understand the differentiation between not being able to afford something, and not being willing to pay a certain amount!

  742. choy says:

Exactly B, if you want something that really does improve your team, and you may have to shell out a bit more why not?

Its not his money! We as fans pay a lot, in tickets, merchandise.

I’ve never thought, I’ll buy the Spud shirt because it is cheaper than the Arsenal one!

  743. Jaguar says:

He was transferred for £80m,irrespective of his caps for Lisbon.AKBs are just two faced like Wenger. They change their arguments just like Wenger. They would rant about how a player wouldnt fit it into our system, like the mugs,Denilshite and Shitvestre. If Wenger says something appreciative about the player, they would immediately change their opinion, and would be analysing about how good that player would be for us.

  744. choy says:

choy i just don’t get how so many people don’t understand the differentiation between not being able to afford something, and not being willing to pay a certain amount!

    I don’t either A…

If you don’t buy anything.. you will be able to afford something! Because you haven’t spent anything!

  745. Mr B says:

I wonder where he buys his suits??? they look kinda cheap.

  746. Dutchman says:

I read the post from whrigty7, he has a point there!
Wenger said before the season that he would rebould the team when not winning trophies this year.

    http://wrighty7.blogspot.com/2010/02/maybe-this-is-reason-why-arsene-wenger.html

  747. choy says:

    I mean I don’t get your point A :)

  748. David says:

    Oh fuk

    Did spurs juss score?

  749. Dutchman says:

I don’t have read the comments but do guys here say we have not the money???? What a absolute bullshit!! How many times wenger said how much money he has, last week about the 30 million which wenger can afford!!

  750. Jaguar says:

    Wenger’s criteria for buying players

The player should be either of
    1)Crocked
    2)Francophonic
3)14 year old toddlers, whom noone has ever heard of
4)Wouldnt kill shit players like Denilshit,Shitvestre

Or in extreme case, the hypocrite would spend money, only if his bonus is in jeopardy.

  751. Mr B says:

Between Us buying Fabb for 50k and selling him for 50 mil and united buying CR9 for 12mil and selling him for 80mil, who do u think has made more money???

The thing that pisses me off is, despite wasting all this money(and ill make sure I calculate it from reliable sources soon) and winning zit zero, He has the nerve to lecture people about financial prudence.

  752. David says:

    A

The point is why wouldnt he be willing to pay when he can afford it?!?!?

  753. Keyser says:

Heh Jaguar has to be someone on a wind-up.

  754. Dutchman says:

    People agree with wrighty????

  755. Dutchman says:

David, why do you think we have no money??? Even wenger said we can afford 30 million but wenger will make the perfect signing it is in his blood, he doesn’t buy players who maybe are not good enough.

  756. choy says:

Dutchman another way to look at it…

Will he sell many players and make wholesale changes?

    I doubt it!

  757. zak says:

    David,

Because wenger valuation isn’t the same as the selling club

  758. ethangunner says:

even a broken clock reads the right time 2 times a day.

i agree with A, wellington is a class signing,
but the point gambon is making is it isnt helping the team now is it ?

i think no one can deny wengers choices are getting better quality wise – nasri – aa – wellingotn rambo just the recent additions ,

if wenger had got it right a few years ago we would be probably ok now ..

most fans were patient for the 1st 3 years of this re-build ..

but 6 almost 7 is pushing it ..

  759. Mr B says:

Dutchman Ill believe it when I see it. What do u think are the odds. Some people thought he was gonna spend this window but he couldnt find anyone better than denilson or almunia.

How is he gonna rebuild??? by buying a load of 12 years olds???

  760. A says:

Because he’ll only pay what he feels a player is worth David.

According to reports he’s not sure whether to pay the £2.5 mil they’re asking for Savic now, that isn’t because we couldn’t afford it.

  761. David says:

Not willing to pay isnt the same thing as being too expensive.

Not willing to pay is not willing to pay.

  762. gambon says:

    A,

So why is he trying to sign them?

If our aim is to be the best club in europe why are we signing shit players?

If theyre good enough to win us the CL then why are you worrying about price?

  763. Mr B says:

Thats the point A. He’s just stingy end of. Like a millionare on a bicycle. Oh wait.

  764. Jaguar says:

Was Shitvestre worth his transfer amount A?I dont fink so?Neither was Wallcoat. And why the feck was Senderos not sold to Everton?Everton offered him less than £6m,which was Wenger’s valuation. How the feck can Le Hypocrite assume that, his valuations are always right?

  765. ethangunner says:

its wengers past failings that are haunting him now .

wenger must realize the players like denilson – diaby – song just took too long to become even back up players worthy of the red and white ..
if he is to continue down this path we MUST see greater productivity from him …

letting go of key players too easily .. TH14 – hleb – flamini .. all hindered his vision .

but failing to replace has just slowed it down even more years …

something needs to give , the fans shouldnt be happy with management currently ..

  766. Dutchman says:

ethan, diaby is incredible song too! I don’t understand how people can say that they are not!!

  767. Mr B says:

Great point Jag. We could have got something for senderos but he went for squat. Another stroke of GENIUS I must say!!!

  768. gambon says:

He is terrible at letting players walk for free.

He decided Senderos was finished 2 years ago, but decided to carry on paying him and get nothing as a fee.

  769. Alex says:

    spuds going thru

  770. Jaguar says:

Not sure about TH14,and Hleb.TH14,was craving for European glory, which he knew,he was never going to achieve under Mr.Wenger.Hleb was a mercenary cunt.

  771. Mr B says:

Is this the same diaby who scored a great headed goal for manU. Yes I must agree he is gr8.

  772. SUGA3 says:

    Dutchman,

they are decent players, but I would not call them ‘incredible’…

as I write it, Defoe scores…

  773. Mr B says:

We should buy him off ManU immediately

  774. Pedro says:

That was a top post from Wrighty…

  775. A says:

We would’ve gotten a decent loan fee for Senderos when he went to Milan, and would’ve gotten a bit in January. I don’t know why he didn’t get sold in the summer though, when did JD get injured?

  776. Alex says:

Summer i think? or just before season started

  777. ethangunner says:

  778. Jaguar says:

Wenger has his love children, and he would play them at any cost.No wonder why Senderos wanted to leave when he saw that francophonic piece of shit Shitvestre ahead of him.

  779. Alex says:

It was in August with Swiss team.

Wow, if Campbell, Eddy and Diaby return for Chav game we will have only 3 injuries, this can’t be right.

  780. David says:

I cant agree with Wrighty article

Wenger shouldve come to the conclusion a season ago when he had to spend on quality like Arshavin to save the season.

That shouldve said something but it didnt.

    The time is up now.

  781. Pedro says:

I can’t tell you how good these shirts are going to be.

    In fact I can… they’ll be amazing.

We’ve moved away from hand painted and the sharper graphics look fantastic.

They should be ready in the next two weeks!

  782. Pedro says:

    A, I doubt we’d have gotten a fee… they’d probably just pay his wages.

  783. eboue says:

    pedro your cool

  784. Jaguar says:

Wenger would make sure that we will have more injuries that the bastard can moan about our bad luck with our injuries.

  785. ethangunner says:

    A

    when did JD get injured?

off season training . or was it international duties ..

anyway the more accurate thing to ask is when did he feature for us , really only last year for about 50 % of the games .

not a great return on those 2 really to date .
would of been far better to focus on 1 established player like sagna , TV ..

    a DM even ..

, not sure senderos would have been anything but a pay his wages deal A !

i dont think milan really wanted him ..
    well obviously they didnt !

  786. A says:

Who Pedro? We’d absolutely have gotten a decent fee with Milan, but Everton the fee would’ve been pretty small, similar sort of price as if he’d gone permanently with only 6 months left.

  787. A says:

Players don’t go on loan from and to big clubs without a loan fee being involved! There are often even small fees when young players go on loan to clubs lower league clubs.

  788. Pedro says:

Why do you think that A?

  789. Jaguar says:

A is making statements like he is the chairman of Everton,FFS.At the end of the day,we are losing a defender, who was destined for greater things, and that too for free.Enough of your hypocrisy,Mr.Wenger.

  790. David says:

    Dear sir,

Thank you for your recent e-mail.

As always we welcome supporters’ comments and yours of course in relation to recent results at the Club and indeed Arsène Wenger’s input.

The Club and its performance provokes an emotional and strong response from supporters, it certainly is a game of mixed opinions which are as valued as they are wide ranging.

Your comments are appreciated, as is your continued support which rest assured is not taken for granted.

In closing, thank you again for taking the time to contact us.

    Yours sincerely,

    Katie Baldwin
    Arsenal Football Club

  791. Mr B says:

This guy is a gooner. Watch from 1.00

  792. gambon says:

    We got £1m from Milan.

  793. A says:

I know it happens with lower league clubs Pedro, and for example when Benitez went on loan to Brum, when Gourcuff went to Bordeaux originally from Milan. Unless a club is in really dire financial trouble and need to get a player off the wage bill then they won’t let a player go without a loan fee, just as they wouldn’t let a player leave on a free

  794. gambon says:

    David

    What did your letter say?

  795. David says:

    Greetings Sir,

I understand you are very busy so i will not take much of your time.

I sent you an email at the beginning of the season last year. I am a small part of a collective organisation that support Arsenal FC in the States. I have just bought a piece of the Armory Square just this Christmas and in addition to these small contributions we try and find other ways in lending our support for Arsenal as we cannot go to games regularly.

Currently we are planning a massive boycott of all things Arsenal to voice our grave dissatisfaction of the way the club is mistreating its fans.

    We have no voice.

While we respect the hard work that has gone into building a model for self sufficiency, the last few years have shown that it is at a cost of Winning major honors and this is just an unacceptable reality.

The resent defeat at home to our most hated rivals has done nothing more than to reaffirm that this model is nothing more than empty promises while robbing the fans of their hard earned sweat. It is also a painful reminder of our Champions League humiliation which suggests that the team have not improved since last year when Trophies are on the line.

We will always support Arsenal FC. And are very eagerly monitoring the situation till the end of the season.

    Thank you for your time.

    Bay Area Gooners

  796. gambon says:

Good letter, i wouldve used the word cunt in there somewhere.

  797. ethangunner says:

ok we got 1 mil , but i suppose if milan took him they would have paid for the fee’s only i would imagine ..

i could of seen him go wages only though !
wenger was desperate to get him off the pay roll .

and now it seems its finally happened .

  798. ethangunner says:

    yes me too

    DEAR CUNT ,

    …………

  799. Jaguar says:

  800. David says:

    Gambon

the last email i sent Gazidis himself replied me…now he sends some bytch to do the dirty work.

I take it many people are writing about this…

Maybe i’ll use a different email address.

  801. ethangunner says:

good letter david , maybe a bit long ,but its hard to get the point across with less .

  802. A says:

Kate Baldwin is the head of the Media dept isn’t she? No need to call people at the club who reply to you a bitch David.

  803. David says:

I tried to be as cordial as I can.

And still they gave me the “emotions running high…I should probably calm my arse down cuz We dont give a fuck about you” response.

    I dont know..something about that reply seemed..generic.

    Almost Automatic…non-specific.

Baring an unsavory result on Sunday.

If Legrove is no1 Arsenal blog…I think it is time Legrove wielded some magic.

  804. David says:

    A

It wasnt the person. It was the response.

If it was a guy id have still called him/her a bytch. :D

  805. SUGA3 says:

    David,

    that’s just PR, nothing more…

  806. A says:

Fair dos david, not sure what response you would expect though?

  807. Jaguar says:

No point sending mails to them.AFC has outsourced their reply responsibilities to AKBs(Fucking mugs/retards/bastards with no identity) in India.

  808. A says:

Jaguar, as you just saw, David said previously Gazidis replied to him, and now Kate Baldwin, so that obviously isn’t true….

  809. Jaguar says:

That could well be automated replies,A.

  810. gambon says:

    Ethan,

    Dear Cunt…

Funniest thing ive seen in weeks :-)

  811. A says:

    lol Jaguar, definitely

  812. Ray in SF says:

The ironies keep piling up at Arsenal

    #1

It turns out that we are missing a largish CF type.

Bendtner returns from training…problem solved…NOOOOOOO…we play Bendtner on the wing ‘cos he’s the only person on the team that can cross the ball — even with Walcott’s fabled speed he’s unlikely to be able to get on the end of his own crosses.

    #2

Given that we aren’t going to bring in a new left back before the Chavs, how is AW going to protect Gael, besides giving him a ‘chest infection’?

(The irony? We are looking for ways to defend a defender!)

By-the-by, I like and respect both players and can’t wait for them to fulfil their potential

  813. Ray in SF says:

    a quote from Robbo Robinson

Of course, the reason why there was no major action in the transfer market is because no one’s got any flaming money. The sums owed by the likes of United leave me more bewildered than a recovering Arsenal left-back.

  815. SUGA3 says:

so, we are a benchmark for being ‘bewildered’ now?

    nice…

  816. luke says:

I like the prospect of having Gallas, Vermy, Sol, Song, Nikki, and Diaby in the starting eleven. Set pieces are chelsea’s weakness, if we put those players in the box on set pieces we will be a menace to defend. I would much rather we put those players in the box and hold back cesc, Sagna/ebway, walcott/rosicky, etc

  817. Stu says:

Luke, is there something wrong with Sagna that you have him in none of your teams?

  818. Jaguar says:

Diaby would be a menace for us in the opposition penalty box.

  819. Stu says:

We should start all the tall players. Clichy is fine at LB because Chelseas only wide threats are their fullbacks (or anelka drifting out wide). If we can stop their fullbacks being influential and their 2 forwards either running in behind or knocking the ball down for Lampard and the other midfielders to run onto…..and if our defenders dont panic..then we should be able to get a draw.

Either that or just set out to injure drogba and we might get a result.

    Basically we need a miracle..

  820. Jaguar says:

and our own penalty box as well.

  821. mike__ says:

    just 2 points

    1) A – there isnt always a garantee of a loan fee i dont think or even wages being paid by the club loaning the player. paul jewel was on soccer sat the other week and i cant remember the exact words but when talking about clubs getting players in on loan he said to merse i think ” you dont have to worry about the wages the club he comes form pays that”.
milan probably did cover his wages but as his loan was with an option to buy at the end i doubt they would of paid a loan fee too.

    2) for me a way to sum up wenger on his transfer dealing/ player evaluations is this. when selling anelka to madrid in his opinion he was worth 21-23 million…..if it was wenger wanting to buy anelka at that time he owuld of said 21-23 is too expensive and he isnt worth that.

thats the way i see it anyways….

  822. Jaguar says:

Anyfin other than a 4-1 loss for Mr.Wenger’s team would be a respite for us.

  823. Stu says:

A draw would be a fantastic result..a win would be unbelievable…and unlikely.

  824. ethangunner says:

well i think theres no point trying to match them , we just need to play our wenger ball game , and finish effectively ..

we are never going to stop the goals with coco in goal , so i think its too late to worry about shoring up the defense this season . we put on an extra defender and we just weaken an already depleted attack ..

  825. Jaguar says:

Wenger wouldnt probably sell Denilshite for less than 20m.We are a joke of a club now, with Mr.Wanker at our helm, who is interested in nuffin, but his bonus.Fuck off you mug!

  826. ethangunner says:

    mike totally agree

im sure milan wouldnt have paid the 1 mill fee if they signed senders ..

it was a sort of release clause .

and 1 million up for missing a CB who was sort of a 1st team spot member isnt that greater deal for AFC either ..

  827. Stu says:

Fergie always sets his teams up to stop the oppo in big matches and it usually works. 4-3-3 against us, diamond against the chavs and they lost to livershit so that obviously didnt work…and i dont remember that anyway.

Not saying we should set out to frustrate them because that would never work but it wouldnt hurt to make note of their strongest attacking characteristics and try stifle it. Like man marking anelka, not letting Drogba run behind the defence etc….

  828. A says:

I dunno Stu, Chelsea fans have actually been bitching about Drogba after the Hull game! A fair few reckon their system when he was away was working really well, and when he plays it changes, Anelka goes out wide, and it doesn’t work anything like as well!

Not saying we don’t have to fear him to be fair, but in the overall balance of the game, they could potentially be stronger overall without him!

We just need to concentrate and not hand them any goals from individual mistakes. Then try and take our chances. I’d be very happy with a draw, as long as we followed it up by giving Liverpool a spanking!

  829. Jaguar says:

Ethangunner,if you think,we are going to win somefin, with his love children Denilshite and Clownmoonia,I’m sorry mate, you would be disappointed.

  830. ethangunner says:

    Stu more like ………..

A draw would be unbelievable…and unlikely..a win would be impossible ….

  831. Jaguar says:

With that wankers Clownmoonia, and Denilshite,we would be over the moon,if we get apoint against Chelshite.

  832. Stu says:

System or no system Drogba always scores against us so whether they play better as a whlole without him is irrelevant imo.

  833. Jaguar says:

We have never defeated Chelshite when that mug Dobgra has played for them.

  834. A says:

mike/ethan that’s not how it works. Milan had paid the £1 mil upon the start of the loan, they would’ve paid however much more at the end of the loan. It wasn’t a release clause.

Loans like that work with the club paying an amount as a loan fee, then an additional amount if they want to make it permanent, as well as paying the player’s wages whilst he’s there of course.

I’m surprised it was only a million though, you work it out in thinking about how much a player would be valued at to go permanently.

Say a player would cost 6 million to go permanently, and would sign a 4 year contract, that would be £1.5 mil a year.

Actually I suppose £1 mil isn’t that bad, especially considering he only had 2 years left on his contract with us.

Even clubs like Peterborough loaning Kerrea Gilbert pay both the player’s wages, AND a loan fee, albeit a small one.

That’s why there are negotiations when it comes to loaning players, rather than it just happening. Generally there will be a small loan fee, depending on whether it’s a “loan to buy”, or a loan to get first team football, then for the duration of that loan a loaning club negotiates with the player what wages to pay him. If a club won’t pay as much as a player wants, and the loaning club really want him to go there, then they might supplement his wages a bit.

Gilbert however, is being paid more in wages by Peterborough than he is on at us, his parent club! Seems pretty ridiculous to me, though going from Arsenal to Peterborough in terms of locations, and the footballing side of things, facilities etc is a hell of a step down!

  835. Jaguar says:

Wenger was delighted that he could spend that amount on unproven francophonic/african toddlers. What a mug Wenger is!

  836. A says:

That’s funny Jaguar, when we beat them at the bridge last season, both “Clownmoonia, and Denilshite” were playing, as was JD in defence, AND Adebayor up top!

On paper, with Vermy rather than JD, Diaby rather than Denilson, Rosicky rather than Adebayor, and I guess Arshavin rather than VP, overall we should be stronger.

Though I’d probably rather have VP than Arshavin.

To be fair though I’d be delighted with a point!

  837. A says:

Have there been any good songs thought up to be directed at Terry on Sunday? Surely the more creative chant-writers have been doing their best?

The only one I’ve heard is “Ashley, watch your wife, Ashley, Ashley watch your wife”

Must be some better ones banging about!?

  838. Jaguar says:

Dobgra didnt play for them,A,when we defeated them.

  839. A says:

Yeah true Jaguar, neither did Essien. The only player they’ve lost compared to last year is Bosingwa, which isn’t a massive deal. Drogba will make a difference though.

  840. mike__ says:

i am not saying youre wrong A but i am saying not every deal is done like that. jewel wouldnt think the club a player comes from pays the wages unless thats how a lot of loan deals he did while at bradford, wigan or derby worked.
some invlove a fee or wages paid in full or a percentage and some dont at all……or a mixture of the lot lol.

did we pay madrid a fee and wages for baptista? got me wondering now lol

  841. A says:

yeah i’m sure we did mike! though that was evened out by their taking reyes. I’d imagine that was similar to sendy, we took the beast and paid a mil or two, with the rest to be paid at the end of the loan, then said “actually, no thanks”

  842. mike__ says:

i still remember almunia throwing the ball out to nasri with no one in front of him and nowhere to go and screaming wtf did you do that for……then seconds later JD own goal.

  843. A says:

I can’t believe the way we’ve scored ogs in the big games. JDs then, Diaby’s, Almunia’s this season. Sure there have been others

  844. Stu says:

He didnt even throw it to Nasri Mike. He threw it way in front of him and Bosingwa just got it straight away.

  845. Stu says:

Toure lat season against chavski too A.

  846. David says:

Wasnt JD’s fault for the og imo…Diaby’s was inexplicable.

  847. A says:

Oh yeah of course Stu! Forgot about Kolo

David imo it wa JDs fault, poor decision making.

All those ogs were poor, as was Almunia’s goalkeeping for Richards’ goal against city, ronaldo’s fk, rosicky not bothering for city’s goal against us, and vermy’s very odd running off against Utd for their third, not to mention shitloads of other inexplicable individual errors!

  848. Stu says:

Stretching to try intercept a cross is porr decision making A?

JDs own goal was all down to Almunia.

  849. Stu says:

Any loss or dropped points this season have been because of individual errors..pretty disgraceful..we are shooting ourselves in the foot in the important games. Definately not the stuff of champions.

  850. mike__ says:

Diabys was poor even though almunia called for it and didnt come he still shouldnt forget how to head the ball.

  851. A says:

Yeah Stu, if you don’t know whether you can reach it or get enough on it to get it out of play you don’t go for it. It was either poor decision making imo, deciding he should go for it when he wasn’t sure, or it was poor judgement, not being able to work out if he could get enough on it.

True Stu, and other teams don’t make those mistakes, but in the other games, beating the smaller teams, we look much more like champions than the others, it’s been a funny season.

  852. mike__ says:

JD’s OG is one that happens to CB’s a lot the ball is one they cant leave but it is just too far in front for them to have any control over where it goes when they make contact.

i can forgive him for that one as the team was under pressure and just when we needed the keeper to hold onto it and let the team all push out he gives it away and puts them under pressure again.

  853. A says:

Utd did the double over us, and are only 4 points ahead of us, if we’d done the double over them we’d be 8 point ahead of them – crazy!

  854. Stu says:

A, he might have been wrong to go for it but he wasnt to know what/who was behind him. Had he left it and someone scored then he would have been slaughtered. He either didnt get a call or didnt hear it. Either way it was ALmunias fault for throwing the ball away.

Also maybe JD, like all of our other players, had no faith that Almunia would intercept the cross and thought he had better do something.

Im not certain but wasnt there a chelsea player between Gallas and JD, so had he left the cross we would have conceded anyway…think it was Malouda.

  855. Stu says:

Had we not given West Ham or Everton 2 points, or been raped on the counter against City then we could be at least a point ahead of united despite them doing the double. Even crazier.

  856. Stu says:

Or Sunderland or Burnley. I wonder how many points we have dropped from a winning position this season..we should be confortably top of the league.

  857. mike__ says:

and if ramsey got out the way or rosicky placed it instead of smashing the cross bar that would be another 2 for us

  858. luke says:

Stu, I think Eboue would give chelsea more trouble then sagna. Eboue gets a bad rap because Wenger plays him as RW, or RM, but at RB I think he is on par with sagna if not a tad better this season.

  859. luke says:

    AND he can cross!

  860. mike__ says:

we could do the same for the season dudu got assaulted, we were 4 points behind in the end.

its habbit the team cant seem to kick.

    —————————-
when did i ever in Gods green Earth give you that idea that im an AKB jag ?

im the longest advocate that this system is flawed .. said it a million times ..

    A

you can tailor any sort of loan deal .
    can /cant play vs the club , 3 -6 1 year loans .

basically the 1 million was bottom line for us ,
thats all im saying its not TECHNICALLY a tipping fee , but it sort of compensation , which is the same thing ..

  862. mike__ says:

clichey & sagna were the best fullbacks in the league by a mile that season…what has happened to that form & why cant they get it back?

  863. luke says:

Clichy has made poor decision making, and Sagna cant cross. They both are offensively ineffective, except for clichy’s pace. Think Sagna has been decent. LB has been our weakness for the whole season IMO.

  864. luke says:

    made poor decisions* sorry.

  865. Stu says:

Neither Clichy nor Sagna have ever been able to cross with any kind of consistent quality. They are both fantastic athletes but just not good enough as footballers.

Considering we play a pretty narrow game the fullbacks are vital for providing width and imo with those 2 being the wide option its doubtful that we will score from many crosses per season.

Sagna is a more than decent defender and that justifies his inability to attack somewhat but Clichy neiter contributes to goals and isnt the best defensively either. Honestly i would much rather a better leftback than him, Gibbs might be that…when he is able to play again that is.

  866. mike__ says:

also speaking of sagna but maybe my memory is wrong and he did it less than i remember but in his 1st season with us sagna used to overlap a lot or when he was coming into the box or just outside at speed he used to do the oppo player a lot by faking a cross/pullback and then just knocking the ball past the player and just as the ball was getting to the touchline he would reach it take a touch see who was coming in then pass it or fire it across for someone to get onto.

i never see him do that now….all he does now is put in high crosses.

  867. mike__ says:

maybe gibbs is the answer, he isnt as quick as clichey or traore i dont think so wont be able to rely on his pace as much as they do and hopefully will make him think more so he gets his positioning right.

  868. luke says:

IMO, this summer: We need to purchase a GK, 1/2 CB (Gallas, Shitvest, Sol all possibly leaving), and one DM, while selling Almunia and Denilson. Hopefully Gibbs will be ready next year but I think he is a bit overrated right now atleast.

  869. Stu says:

Yeah i agree Mike. Gibbs not being as fast would mean he isnt as reliant on his pace to get him out of trouble.

Also, when his pace does eventually go when he reaches his thirties he wouldnt suffer too much. Clichy and Traore both have pretty shit positioning and are always having to bust a gut to try catch a winger who caught them out of position.

  870. Stu says:

This summer we NEED a new keeper, 2 new CBs, maybe a new fullback, a back up DM for Song (or maybe one to replace him) and possibly a striker depepding on whether one leaves or not.

  871. luke says:

Unfortunately, I have a feeling that new keeper will be Mannone/Fabianski, the new DM will be one of coquelin, Frimpong, eastmond, the new cb: one purchase and Nordveit, and either sunu or watt coming in

  872. A says:

I reckon this summer, as long as Fabianski or Szczesny are promoted to number one I’m happy with the keeping situation.

Same with backup DM, certainly not a first choice, imo by the end of the season Song could well be seen as one of the best in Europe in that position, but backup depending on how Eastmond develops in the 7 months between now and then, whether Nordveit comes back and is seen as a DM, and maybe even Coquelin, though I’m less optimistic he’ll be ready, he’s developed slower than I thought he would this season.

1 new centre back, looks like savic, and maybe a second, top quality established one if gallas goes, though i think he’ll stay.

Then anyone else depending on departures. New forward perhaps, might depend on how Vela, Eduardo and Bendtner do in the second half of the season, and also how much is expected of Wellington Silva upon his immediate arrival

  873. luke says:

Isnt wellington silva 16 A? Surely he must be one for the future.

  874. A says:

17 luke, he’ll join us in January 11 as an 18 year old, the same age Pato turned up at Milan and came straight into the first team reckoning

  875. luke says:

Vela and Bendtner will only get better. Unfortunately I have less faith in Eduardo but we will be “re-signing” RVP when he gets back from injury. Wonder what Wenger will do about CD and CM though…

  876. luke says:

Let us hope Silva is on par with Pato. I really rate Pato, seems like he’d do great for us. THink our system would suit his style. too bad hes probably worth 35 million.

  877. A says:

As in January 2011, not 11th Jan

  878. luke says:

Whats your team for Sunday A. Mine is:

    Almunia
    Ebway-Gallas-Vermy-Clichy
    —-Cesc—Song—Diaby
    Walcott—Nik—-Arsh

Subs: Fabianski, Sol, Sagna, Denilson, Ramsey, Eduardo/nasri, Rosicky

  879. Stu says:

You mean joining as in allowed to play for the first team right A? He is already here and allowed to play non competetive matches…just like Pato was.

Preferably he would be training with the first team starting now so he wouldnt have to get settled come next january. But the downside of that is unless we arrange a friendly for him every week he wouldnt be playing regularly.

  880. Stu says:

Why not try Arshavin on the right. I mena how badly could it be to try him in a different position. Bendtner should be a guarentee to start with preferably Arsh and imo Rosicky on either side.

  881. luke says:

Yea, not a bad idea stu. I just want Walcott to have another good game. I suppose were probably better off with rosicky starting and walcott coming on for him at 60th

  882. A says:

Yeah I’ve got faith in all three of them luke. Eduardo has been improving with every game, and he looked very sharp in his last three or so games, just in front of goal he’s gone completely to shit! A couple of goals though and I reckon we’ll see the Eduardo of old. If we don’t by the summer I reckon he’ll be offloaded though. Chamakh could come in too.

Centre back, as long as Gallas signs on, which I think he will, I reckon it’ll be JD and Savic backing those two up, maybe Nordveit as well.

DM I reckon Matuidi could come in, but depends on the development of the others. Also on how Nordveit is thought of, whether a DM or CD

  883. luke says:

With Nikki B, TV, Gallas, and Diaby starting, we could do some damage on set pieces, and chelsea are worse then us at defending set pieces…

  884. ethangunner says:

nik b isnt strong enough stu , id rather see diaby there .. with dudu and AA ..

    vela or theo even ..

nik b as plan B if things need changing , at least then wenger has ONE option :)

  885. luke says:

Have you seen Nordveit play/know if he is any good? I havnt seen him once…Also, what do you make of denilsons future. He really has been quite poor of late. I like the lad, but he just doesnt bring much to the table other then a few long range goals. He is not a natural defender and contrary to popular belief, I dont think he reads the game well at all. All I see him do is close down space really and to start for arsenal, you have to bring more to the table then that IMO

  886. A says:

    luke I’m going for

    Fabianski(won’t happen though)

    Sagna Gallas Vermy Clichy

    Cesc Song Diaby

    Rosicky Bendntner Arshavin

They score goals from crosses from full backs, or they did last time. Two goals from Cole’s crosses, I’d much rather we tried to be as solid as possible in those positions, so Sagna rather than Eboue for me.

Theo has raped Cole in the past, but I’m not sure about that front three, Rosicky has to play imo, maybe give Arshavin a rest, though actually not a chance!

Yeah I agree Stu, it’ll be interesting what happens with him. He’ll be young enough to play for the U18s still in the first half of next season, he’s already scored 4 goals in 45 mins for them, let him rape that league for half their season, whilst training with the first team! Rest of this season though is interesting, wonder what we’ll do with him.

  887. luke says:

Ethan, Nikki B is on the verge of becoming a great player. He is frustrating most of the time but he has nearly perfect positioning and remarkable build up play. He is tall, holds up play well, all he needs to do is add finishing to his game. If Nikki B was a half good finisher, he would be bagging 20 a season easy. He is on his way though, dont be so quick to shut him out…he is only 22. I know we are the arsenal blah blah we need talent now, and I agree, he probably isnt good enough for us now, but he is most surely on his way.

  888. ethangunner says:

i think TV must be our new DM , he can shoot he can track back … he’s got leadership , he is a perfect candidate for that vital role in the middle..

id rather wenger get 2 new cds and (senderos-replace TV’s spot ) than try and develop a CDM .

in my mind he is a perfect fit for the role …

id go the rest of the season with sol – gallas and tv in the hole ..

that should save almunias ass .

  889. A says:

Seen nordveit a good few times in the reserves and I really like him. When he first arrived he looked very intelligent, and composed on the ball, read the game very well, but was ridiculously slow, and pretty weak, after year or so seemed much stronger and quicker though, and reckon that should have continued, wouldn’t mind him as a squad player at all.

I rate Denilson as a squad player, but he hasn’t really developed this year, wonder how much the back injury is affecting him

  890. luke says:

A, didnt Sagna allow Cole to rape us from those crosses at the emirates in november? Agree about rosicky, need the experience, and if it doesnt work out, walcott can come.

  891. ethangunner says:

    luke

i agree in time ( maybe shortly ) he will come good , but i wouldnt risk him V’s the chev’s he isnt strong enough V’s one of the best defenses in the league , your going to need the skill of AA or cesc to route the goals ..

  892. luke says:

Ethan, what would you do with song? Would our midfield be

Cesc-Verm-Song, or would song be CB?

  893. luke says:

So why not play Arsh with Nik too? Surely a front three of Rosicky-Nik-Arsh would trump a front three of Walcott-Arsh-rosicky?

  894. A says:

Yeah he did luke, well Nasri kinda did, but Sagna should’ve done better. He’s superior to Eboue defensively imo though, so if Sagna was caught out, it could’ve been even worse with Eboue! Sagna will be eager to make up for last time too.

  895. A says:

ethan what do you mean not strong enough? i’ve never seen him fail to hold off any defenders and bring the ball down. Last season our win against Utd at the Emirates owed alot to his outstrengthing Vidic when we were holding onto the lead, everytime the defence hoofed the ball up

  896. A says:

Also – Chelsea’s biggest weakness is their failure to defend set pieces, and Bendtner is possibly our biggest threat from those situations, along with Vermy

  897. luke says:

The whole Sagna vs eboue thing is a good debate and I wind up changing my mind a lot. Might come down to sharpness in training but sagna probably will get the start. IMO, Eboue and Sagna are nearly even at defending, Sagna might be a tad better, but Eboue is 100% offensively. With Nik starting, Eboue could potentially win us this game from his crossing.

  898. luke says:

Im almost tempted to go for a back four of:

    Sagna/Ebway-Gallas-Sol-TV

to add height and strength. We could destroy them at set pieces. Imagine having to deal with Sol, Gallas, TV, Diaby AND Nikki B in the box.

  899. A says:

Yeah so do I luke. If we were at home I’d be tempted to say Eboue, but away from home at Stamford Bridge, especially with our current defensive frailties, I’d have to prefer Sagna, then Eboue can come on if needs be.

Eboue to start home against Liverpool though

  900. Stu says:

Bendtner should be a shoe in to start against chelsea if ONLY for his height. Given that they have conceded i think 15 of their 20 goals from set pieces we need to have height in abundance for our set pieces.

Nasri simply cant start, he is awful at defending and their fullbacks are vital to their attack. It was the same at Milan and no Anceloti is doing it with Chelsea.

I wonder if Mikel is fit to start against us. He has been back since yesterday at the latest and being their only DM he surely will start if he can.

  901. luke says:

Fair enough A. I could agree.

  902. luke says:

Is Cole fit for us? Essein is out I know.

  903. Stu says:

Massive no to Vermaelen at leftback. He played their in his final season at Ajax and has said himself that its the worst he has played in his whole career and was shocked we were still interested in him after all those awful performances.

  904. Stu says:

    *there, not their.

  905. luke says:

Okay good to know Stu. NVM then, that would give chelsea a real fucking problem though. Sol, Gallas, TV, Diaby, Nikki B. We could potentially score from every set piece we get…

  906. A says:

shoo in stu, not shoe in! (sorry, that just bugs me, along with “mute point” when it should be “moot point”!)

I agree totally, though I hope he’s fit, he looked totally unfit when he came on against Utd. Pretty harsh on nasri imo, he’s not awful at defending, he likes to put his foot in, but lacks concentration at times, similar to rosicky in that respect. Both are way better than Arshavin though!

I reckon Mikel will start, though hopefully he’ll be tired, as Song was for us

  907. Stu says:

Really? Its shoo? Never written it down so always just assumed it was “shoe”.

  908. Stu says:

Alright so Nasri isnt the worst defender but he filters in and out of games at the best of times. He has awful concentration and in a match this big we need players with total concentration.

Add to that he seems to be pretty unfit so him starting isnt the best idea imo. Needs to lose some weight and up his fitness…but that could be said of a few players.

  909. A says:

    Yeah I think so Stu!

“Shoo in” was originally a racetrack term, and was is applied to a horse expected to easily win a race, and, by extension, to any contestant expected to win an easy victory. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the first use of the term in print dates back to 1928. A “shoo in” was originally a horse that was expected to win a race, not by virtue of its speed or endurance, but because the race was fixed. The sardonic “subtext” of the original usage, now lost, was that the designated horse would win even if it were so lackadaisical in its performance that it simply wandered somehow up to the finish line and had to be “shooed in” to victory.”

I agree about Nasri, Rosicky to start ahead of him imo. A front three of Bendtner, Arshavin, and Rosicky would do the business

  910. A says:

I wonder where Vela stands. If Bendtner is back to fitness, may be an idea to give Vela a couple on months destroying teams in the championship?

Also no news recently about Merida, he should just sign up! Wonder if JET will go on loan soon, even after his silliness

  911. Stu says:

There is an interesting debate on young guns about how Wenger is ruining Vela. I didnt read all of it but it seemed there were some valid points in there.

    Night A, luke, etc…..

  912. Stu says:

Maybe ruining wasnt the best word, more like wasting his talent by trying to change him….

  913. A says:

Vela’s only been “ruined” by the silly fans who expect too much too soon! Don’t recognise that injuries hold players back etc!

    Nite stu

  914. luke says:

Vela will come. He has been incredible for mexico, only a matter of time until he starts producing. WTF is going on with nasri? He has been god awful this season… nite stu

  915. A says:

He’s not been great but I’d say god awful is an exageration Luke! He broke his leg remember, and has just taken time to get back into the swing of things and stay fit for a decent amount of time, he’s still a superb player.

Vela I agree too, he’s the same, his arsenal career has been hampered by going in international duty, and injuries, but he’ll come good once he stays fit and gets a few games under his belt. I’d be happy for him to go on loan, tear teams apart in the championship for a couple of months, it’d do his confidence alot of good.

  916. luke says:

Vela would fucking destroy in championship. Okay A, maybe not god awful but pretty poor. He has been back for a while now from the broken leg too. He misplaces passes, doesnt defend well, and his build up play is a little unproductive too. Doesnt get many shots off or many assists. In fact, I think his only goal this year has been in the league cup. After last season I expected more and hes been disappointing.

  917. A says:

He scored soon after he returned in the champs league, and was absolutely awesome in that match, but i agree, he hasn’t reached the heights I thought he would this season.

  918. luke says:

    Perhaps its the 4-3-3 system?

  919. Pat says:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQFSLr_Mhy4

DO that against the CHavs Nick. We need to cross. We won’t score from open play. They have only conceded 5 from open play. 15 from set pieces.

Ethan, what would you do with song? Would our midfield be

Cesc-Verm-Song, or would song be CB?
    ——————————–
long term thats what wenger said,
song would become a CD, but i dont think even wenger knows whats going on ! he’s slow enough to be a CD ! ..

he’s more error prone than clichy , long term we just need better ..
people just feel sorry for him getting shit from us fans but really if you measure him against Essien or someone of the caliber you would expect to be in a top 4 club he really isnt close AT ALL !

  921. luke says:

Really Ethan. I think aside from Essein he is the best CDM in the league. Macherano/fletcher IMO dont even come close to Song, and hes only getting better too. I dont think Song has been getting any shit from fans, atleast no one I know who supports Arsenal. I think Song has been one of the biggest reasons weve gotten better this season, he just needs to attack less IMO.

  922. luke says:

In fact, aside from Essein, and Yaya Toure, and maybe De rossi or toulalan he is one of the best CDM’s out there.

  923. ikon says:

I feel Vela has lost quite a bit of pace, which at this stage in his career is not a very good thing.

  924. Honest Bill says:

The thing about Vela is he needs to learn that he can’t just dribble it all day and look for a foul. 90% of the time he will not get the decision.

  925. Rohan says:

Song has been more than decent this season. On this season’s performances alone, he is probably the best DM in the league even ahead of essien imo. I have no qualms with him anymore and should be one of the first names on the teamsheet. having said that, there is still room for improvement.

  926. dennisdamenace says:

    Yo Minge Bags!

So, what’s the betting Denilson has a slight cold or muscle strain, anything but being properly dropped, you gotta spare the poor fellas feelings after all!!

Or, if the nutty professor has finally flipped, he’ll leave AA23 and Song out again against The Chavs just to prove they don’t need those two to loose against them yet again!!

  927. dennisdamenace says:

Song’s improved from being abject shite to being adequate, people only clamour for him because the alternative (Denilson) doesn’t even bare thinking about….

However, if AW were to unbolt OUR wallet and buy a seasoned, quality DM Song has the ability to learn from him, and who knows might just turn into that quality player….

  928. luke says:

So are we signing savic tomorrow? Rohan, havnt seen you in ages!

  929. luke says:

dennis, imagine what we could do with a midfield of:

    Cesc-Song-Toulalan/De Rossi/Mascherano

  930. dennisdamenace says:

Indeed luke, and imagine how beneficial to the younger players coming through who aspire to play in CM to have that sort of quality to look up to and learn from….

Why does spending money on proven talent have to viewed as something detrimental to the development of a young player!! It hasn’t done Fab4 any harm!!

  933. rob green says:

  934. Geoff says:

Rob, that will only happen if Almunia gives his notice in today!

  935. dennisdamenace says:

The moment I see Denilson in the starting lineup is the moment I lose interest in Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal……

  936. Geoff says:

Get used to it Dennis, that his third name on the team sheet behind Cesc and Song!

  937. iceman says:

    Almunia will start.
He reckons Fab2 is still too raw.
But there is no excuse for playing Denilson.
    He brings NOTHING!
Rather blood Rambo in from now.

  938. Moray says:

Better just to field 10 players than 11 including Denilson.

The guy’s a liability. At least then the defence will know who to mark up.

  939. gambon says:

Almunia needs to keep his mouth shut.

He’s only saying what he said because he knows he was responsible for a lot of dropped points. Gay cunt.

  940. Geoff says:

Play with 9 men it would be no different, I can’t understand why our captain doesn’t say something to the manager???

  941. Moray says:

If I was rubbish at my job, I definitely wouldn’t be running my mouth off about how my company was going to shit on its competitors…

Almunia: We are still in title race

I would DEFINITELY be hiding away hoping not to be caught out.

  942. GARYC says:

Even Wenger must see the folly of putting Denilson up against the likes of J Cole/Lamps/Deco/Ballack. He’ll get trodden on

  943. Stevie says:

I just got a offered a ticket for the game and also turned it down. I’ll wait to go until the Sunderland game. no doubt we will go 1-0 down, win 2-1 and Wenger can tell us all how close we are

  944. Geoff says:

Wenger manages like a blind man.

  945. GARYC says:

What’s Peter Storey doing these days? Might be worth a punt as a DM

  946. dennisdamenace says:

Talk is fucking cheap! Anyone remember this gem from Denilson…. “I will make Evra eat his words”……..clueless cunt!

  947. iceman says:

Maybe thats what he was trying to do when Rooney left him to go on to score the second…

He was trying to feed Evra.
