So now that the dust has settled on our hammering to the Mancs, where do we go from here? Another season in tatters, save for any of you out there that continue to believe in the rhetoric of ‘this team has great mental strength’ and maybe we can win the Champions league.
Well when we got beaten by the Mancs it brought back the memories of when we had got beaten by them the season before, what was different to the previous season? We bought Vermaelen in and we sold Kolo and Ade, then we played all the chasing pack and did well, Liverpool aside (and they are hopeless this season) we played no one that is capable of finishing in the top 4, aside from Villa and we got lucky with a point.
Next up we played the Mancs, and our manager said we weren’t the same team that lost to them the last time we played them at the Grove, he was right, we were worse, they had no Ronaldo and no Tevez, they had no Ferdinand or Vidic, and we still lost by the same score, this team has great mental strength…? Half this team are babies and don’t fight.
So after that debacle the manager went out and bought in some much needed talent? Oops, no, he didn’t, so what have we learned? Nothing, that’s what. What we did do was remove Phil off the wage bill so that will further enhance the management bonus. Great, at least someone at Arsenal benefits.
How disappointing for us fans, how many games did we have to suffer a second rate centre back in Senderos, I like Phil, but he was never going to be a Tony Adams, a Steve Bould or a Martin Keown, but after watching him for 4 or more years, he was packed off without a word, did Wenger say, I got that wrong, sorry for putting you all through it? No he did not. He only say things like that if they come good.
Now we have to watch a rubbish keeper and a woeful defensive midfielder, yes I will admit Song has finally come good but Denilson? He cost us yet again and the only one who can’t see it is the guy we happily pay £6million a year not to buy decent players.
It’s not like all these kids come cheap, Theo was £8mil, Denilson was £3.8mil Ramsey was £5mil, I dread to think what the true cost is if you add up their salaries. If he wants to persevere with a young player, throw Ramsey in, at least you can see he has talent.
We just beat the Mancs to another 16 year old, great, how old will you be when he gets good? If indeed he does. Another 8 year wait, hmmm, there’s something to look forward to in your old age.
I believe that we play too many, too young, their bodies haven’t developed and that’s why they pick up the injuries they do, look at Michael Owen!
Yes there are exceptions, Rooney, Fabregas and Messi, but if you want to know why our kids get injured, it’s youth, they are too young.
At best now, even if we win the league next year that will make it 7 barren years, that is just not acceptable, what other world class team puts up with that? If that’s the deal, drop the prices to reflect the fact you don’t want to win two of the trophies on offer and you don’t intend to invest in talent. We don’t have to go bust, just spend what’s available, if he thinks he can’t buy better than Denilson or Almunia, then there is something wrong with him.
Wenger has done more for us etc, etc. We won the double in 98 and 02, we won the league in 2004 and the last trophy in 2005, what was the common denominator? We spent money, and the double seasons he inherited half his team from the previous managers.
We had a great chance this year, we had £40 million to spend just from 2 players we sold, never mind the prize money and all the other bits, he refused to bring in players, all the pundits, journo’s, ex players and existing players were saying it, he doesn’t and we win nothing, so who’s right?
I don’t expect us to win on Sunday, I have turned down a seat in the Chelsea directors box because I refuse to watch the hapless two embarrass us again, I am fed up with this stupid policy and don’t understand why we bought in a huge management team with Ivan, what’s changed, Arsene still rules supreme, no one challenges him and this will go on until he decides to retire.
We have been a lone voice for 2 years now and finally the other blogs are feeling the same, at last, maybe now the board will begin to realise the gravy train is about to end.
Gazidas met with someone from Milan to discuss the sad state of the game, he should meet with his own manager and ask that question, the game is being ruined by crazy wages, and we are top of the league for those. Arsenal, get your own house in order before you criticise others.
I’m sorry to sound so negative but the manager and his policy are doing that, not me.
We didn’t lose to the Mancs for any other reason than a crazy team selection with so many poor players who don’t seem to care.
Time for a clear out and frankly I don’t care who.
Arsene, if you don’t watch it, Cesc will be chosing a house in Catalunia, because he’ll win nothing here.

This club has forgotten the reason it fuckingwell exists for, for the fans, for the community, a club/tribe where you feel you belong, where you feel proud to be part of something….
The whole management structure is geared for self serving a select few, but at the (real) cost of the majority, it seems almost purposeful that the AFC management go out of their way to alienate the fan base, because we are now viewed as customers, a revenue stream is what we now are to them!
And, in all this we are sold ‘the future’, every season we’re getting “we’ll be great……next year”……….and we buy it because of our love for the club, and they know it, and they trade on that unswerving loyalty, they take it for granted.
Ask yourself this, just how many, directors, coaches or players went home hurting after Sunday’s shambles, truly? Does Denilson feel as bad as my litlle nephew who came home crying from school yesterday! Does he, really, as he drives away in his Bentley and collects another £30,000 while families who work 50 hours a week struggle to pay their gas bills, but still scrape together enough money to buy a ticket to watch their beloved Arsenal…..
You know what struck me about Sunday’s game was Arsend Wenger’s inability to change things around when the going gets tough, or to even motivate ONE of his senior players to grab the game by the scruff of the neck.
He’s no longer capable of winning this league while he persists with his own personal agenda, but he will not walk and he will certainly not be sacked by this lily livered self serving piss weak board, who are happy to take the profits, but not interested in pushing the club forward on the playing field.

We’ve turned into flat track bullies on the pitch. Beating the likes of Bolton, Hull, Wolves, Blackburn etc by a hatful of goals, but can’t compete with the truly class sides in this league. Now I know this Man Utd team aren’t the best we’ve faced but they know how to win games. The worrying thing is the games against Chelsea and Utd used to be tight, balanced affairs. Now we drop our pants, present ourselves like a cow on heat and wait for the pain. Two wins, one draw and seven defeats in the last ten games (and shipping a fair few goals in the process) against the two teams above us ain’t progress. It’s regression.

TAIG, If Wenger is still there in 10/11 what he needs to do is accept the mistakes, be a man and get rid of failures. I say get rid of Denilson, Almunia, Silvestre, Eduardo, Vela and Walcott. Gte £20m in for them and purchase some quality internationals.
These are my players I want in:
1. GK – Lloris or Hart. I’d even take Westwood from Cov.
2. Defender – I’d like to see Cahill from Bolton or Jagielka. Keep Sol he is needed for cover.
3. Midfield – we need a hustler – get in Behrami from West Ham, he runs all day.
4. Wing – Krasic.
5. Striker – Dzeko, Villa or Boriello.

Don’t doubt Gazidis, he is not an idiot, but I am afraid football is stupid these days. Problem is people work for shareholders and sadly not the fans. Shareholders want a return and 3rd place gets you that without winning the league.
The massive problem is this – what directors fail to realise is the more you alienate the “ordinary” fan the more down the line it will impact the club. Empty stadiums mean, lower TV time, less money and then things mount up. I don’t give a s*it about club level or the executive boxes as they do not care about arsenal.

bnsb my point is that once Utd get into a winning position they rarely let it go, particularly in big games. We had no chance after shipping two goals in quick succession and up at OT we ran out of ideas in the last 20 mins. However, the big issue for me is why we’ve gone backwards against the Chavs and the Mancs in the last 12 months. That’s the real benchmark on progress as far as I’m concerned.
An impassioned and reasoned post this morning. I can feel the pain from fellow supporters oozing through the screen every time I boot the Mac up. I have teetered for some time on the edge of decision. I go to the games with friends and family as I have done for more years than I care to remember and have been a supporter of Arsene since he came. He was new and vital and had a vision and blueprint that changed the face of English football. Several of my friends and my brother have been against him for a couple of years now. They believe he has lost it and can’t see the wood for the trees. I have been a faint voice of support for him but am now believing that the game has passed him by and his judgement is no longer sound. I am not going to go into the inadequacies of our players as others have hit the nail squarely upon the head. It’s the fact that he can’t see it that worries me and the way that he has squandered so many transfer window opportunities, while offering arguments to support his position that have become tedious, misleading and more than embarrassing. The Kroenke deal worries me too. I think he rather likes the Wenger-model of complacency and senseless frugality. I don’t want Arsene to bankrupt the club. I want him to buy the players we so obviously need. We have the money it seems. Not to do so seems silly and somewhat self-defeating and if any evidence is needed as to how deluded he has become just take a look at the team sheet on Sunday, his infatuation with Denilson, selection of Almunia and point-blank refusal to use the expertise at his fingertips to make our defenders actually defend. I hope he is looking deep within himself and finds the right answers.

As I saw it we were better in the second half, after Theo and B52 came in. Pressed well. We had our good chances and didn’t take it. Our forward line sucked big time.
We must admit that Wenger didn’t make any of his usual excuses after the man utd, which give me hope that he is changing his mindset about this team, and will start giving them a kick up the backside,

AW cant blame on the injuries forever. And he may not like the way multimillion dollar players are in the game, but thats the way it is today. you cannot decide one day you will not buy players for more than 1.5M pounds (although it seems ok to pay them 60k a week. walcotty style).

However, I truly believe that we’ll get more of the same pre-season ticket renewal bullshit, and the same transfer policy from AW, so we’ll end up going into the next season having learnt nothing from the past two or three seasons, having offloaded one maybe two established players, purchasing/promoting even more youth (coz it’s cheap) and as such becoming ever more reliant on Fab4 and rubbish like Denilson achieving the club’s goal of CL football, so one more season of needless struggle will probably be the straw that breaks the Fabregas back. and for me the moment the next transfer window closes with the same pre-rehearsed rhetoric about belief in this squad, mental strength, then thatcwill be when I want AW out and any cunt that supports him….

Arsenal aren’t good enough to challenge for the Premiership or Champions League, so in my view, shouldn’t throw the FA Cup. Winning the FA Cup would hopefully kickstart the winning mentality. It worked for Man U and Chelski. Aston Villa will be much better next season if they win the Carling Cup.
The problem is that Arsenal have no money. I don’t believe that the money from the sale of Adebayor & Toure is just sitting there waiting to be spent. The financial problems run deeper; the recession has hit hard. The good thing is that both Man U and Liverpool are in a far worse position. Chelski and Man City are false teams, buoyed by artificial money but that will end if clubs are only allowed to spend what they earn.
Five years from now, Arsenal will be a very healthy club. I can see a situation where most of the team have come through the ranks and there is money available to buy great players as & when necessary.
The problem is now. The expectations on the team winning trophies is high, probably unrealistically. Fabregas will be at Barcelona next season, Arshavin might go with him, so in the short term, it can only get worse. At least we have Ramsey.
Some of the players are clearly not good enough. No need to mention names. I can see better players in the reserves and youth teams but they’re not ready yet.
I just think that Wenger should concentrate on winning either the FA Cup or Carling Cup to boost morale in and out of the ground. If he lets the big boys loose in the Carling Cup, we’d have a very good chance. He can then play the kiddies in the FA Cup. He might as well; he’s thrown it for two seasons running as it is.

Wenger talks about mental strength. Well that’s because we get ourselves into trouble too often i.e. conceding first, and have to dig ourselves out of it. OK against the weaker sides, but ain’t gonna happen that often against class teams.
