Galindo to go on loan, Zarate though, that’s just rubbish. Leeds and Pompey, what lesson?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So it appears we really did sign Galindo, blimey 17 years old and 6’2″ boy that’s tall for a Bolivian, although he is young and we won’t see him for a few years, at least he’s a big lad, and that’s a good sign, him and 18 year old Jay Emmanuel Thomas in the midfield will be an impressive sight indeed.

Zarate though hmmm, this is what his agent had to say…

Jose Alberto Coppola said

‘I am in touch with Arsenal, they want to increase their attacking potential and to do so are already prepared to offer the €40 million that will deliver him’

Well as soon as I read €40 million I smirked, as soon as I read he doesn’t even play for Argentina yet I guffawed, that one is not worth the paper it’s written on.

Bolton tomorrow is a big one, yes they have a new manager in Owen Coyle but we have Cesc Fabregas back and Cesc makes us tick, add that to the fact that they aren’t very good and we should beat them quite easily, they are not the Bolton of old, this mob are the Bolton that’s going down quicker than a Eastern European hooker, so I expect the next 6 points to be in the bag.

I think he’ll play Diaby in a more forward role and I hope to see Clichy back too, I would give Campbell a run out to see what he has, we know he’s fit and our centre backs have not had a rest yet, so maybe tomorrow’s the day, either way with 3 games in 7 days coming up, we will see Campbell again at the back.

Time is running out on signing a new forward, because if we don’t do it soon January will be gone and we won’t need one as much, but with the games we have coming up, we need a forward now, so as it hasn’t happened, I don’t think it will.

Still as Pedro said yesterday, through superb foresight our board and management team have made us a bunch of money, however, if my main concern was prudence and cash flow, I would go and sit in the Bank of England for 90 minutes every Saturday instead of spending my hard earned watching Arsenal. That way I’d never win anything, but I’d be happy that the place I was in generated sensible and vast amounts of cash from it’s customers. (a bit like we do)

Me? I would sooner have a few trophies. Man United and Liverpool will always be around and always be big clubs, people get hung up on Leeds and Portsmouth, and the fact that if we spend money, we could end up in the shitter, like they have, don’t, they have never seen as big clubs (except Leeds fans who think they were, well they are bigger than Portsmouth anyway, I’ll give them that) although both clubs have always had massive support.

Please stop telling me you won the third, second and first division trophies Leeds fans, we all know.

Add to that what they did was buy complete teams, and for silly money, Arsenal only need three players for total domination, there’s a big difference between that and doing a Leeds.

What denotes a big club is history, trophies and support, we have all three, well we used to, and that is what we should worry about, we’ll never lose our history, that is written, but lose one of the others, you’ll lose more than you bargained for, and that my friends is todays riddle!

What am I on about! Enjoy today Grovers, tomorrow the scrap begins.

Geoff.

Mr B. Though I was a proper hippy in the day, I now realise that not all the best things are free. Having owned a 500SL Merc, I can tell you that it was the best thing I have ever had, and I can assure you it wasn’t free. So, is a TSE cashmere jumper, and a Brioni suit. Pricey and wonderful.

Women come and go, kids grow up, love is transient, as is health ….

Though I see your point :-)

    or pussy clart!

Man I feel so childish like when I learned a new insult in school id use it repeatidly because u know what they say “practice makes perfect.”

  3. BigRaddy

We all have to go sometime Mr B, :-)

In the words of the great John Lennon….

“The Best Things in life are Free
But you can keep them for the birds and bees
    Give me money……”

which just happens to be my ringtone on my mobile!!

I heard that Henry Ford died because he got trapped in his secret vault. I dont know if its true but the point is the Gold and Cash wasnt all he had hoped for.

P.S. He had insomnia and A stomach ulcer….. Couldnt sleep or eat anything but porridge. Said he felt his factory workers had a better life.

GM. Brixton or Cla’rm? I used to say I lived in Lewisham but was in Blackheath. And I grew up in Hampstead but said it was Golders Green!!

Still believe in positivity and a trophy winning season is the cure for all evils. I went through a terrible time personally in 98, but all I remember is TA scoring at home on the last day of the season v Everton !!

Gotta go. See you boys tomorrow.

Come on you rip roaring Gunners

Someone said to a bum lying on a beach.
    “U should start fishing.”

“and then what?” replied the bum.

“U can make money…buy a fishing boat, hire people, expand ur business…make more money.”

“and then what?” replied the bum.

    “Well u can relax!”

“What the Fuck do u think im doing right now!” replied the bum.

Im realy got into ambient music a while back.

The blues have been some of the best times of my life. U only realize when theyre gone though!

  12. leon

for this game seeing there will no delinson song or ramsey

    fab
    sanga vern gallas troae
    nasri diaby risicky
    aa edwardo vela

i feel risiscky and nasri would very well in an attacking roles both can play central roles and diaby is extremly good tackeler very powerful too.but i would want to fab on at some point maybe in the second half.this true test though

  13. Kreshnik

    hola chicos and chicas …
well … no chicas really … but still :)

So … I’m pissed off badly that stupid Sunderland ashamed themselves against the Chavs and the fucks actually beat us.

Real playing some slick footy right now but no way passed athletico … what a game tho

  14. patthegooner

Reggie, He could kick the ball in his own net and still get picked the week after.

I would rather play Arshavin in goal than Almunia

  15. leon

path i would more inclined to use vela on the left wing looks very dangerous and also i would not start with fab either i would play him for the last 45 minutes.i not sure how long diaby is out but wenger might forced get midfielder though but with nasri diaby and risiscky and unless and fab and unless these players get injured i dought wenger will temted to go for midfielder

  16. Ray in SF

can someone please explain why we can’t play youngster while Spain can?

I thought the EU made employment a level playing field (so to speak) in Europe!

  17. Ray in SF

oh, and if Eboue is red-carded and sitting out the next 13 days, why not bring him back for the Bolton/Bolton/Stoke sequence?

  18. Samir

    So, coming up we have;

    Bolton Wanderers – Arsenal
    Arsenal – Bolton Wanderers
    Aston Villa – Arsenal
    Arsenal – Manchester United
    Chelsea – Arsenal
    Arsenal – Liverpool

Out of the 18 points possible how many do you think we will get?
Any bloody injuries now really could wreck our season. Wenger has to be clever now with the rotation or we might have to pay, seeing he has signed no-one really…. Just some 35 year old and a 17 year old….. No big signings :D

Personally I would be happy with 14-18 nothing less :)

  19. Ja_Gunner

I doubt we would bring him back……for those games…

All I want is to wins against Bolton..but it wont be easy to beat the same team twice….when they are now fighting for their lives and trying to impress a new boss…

  20. Ja_Gunner

Samir…look at that sequence…and Wenger is sitting there doing nothing…

Does he really think Eduardo and Arshavin only can bring us through that period? I dont think so…Bendy wont be ready …he will be available but not sharp or fit at all….

So instead of calling up Adriano..Wenger is going to rely on a not 100% Eduardo and a Arshavin carrying a knock to lead the line through all those games….Wenger is mad…..

I can understand him not getting a midfielder because we have many and I think that Diaby can play the holding role for 2 or 3 games…..but we only have one recognised striker and thats Eddy…..how will we survive that stretch with literally no other striking option?

  21. YON

We could EASILY get 0 out of 18 points. We could also get 18 out of 18 points. That is how unpredictable this league is. It will be down to details (can we keep our players fit, will the Ivory Coast make it to the finals of the ANC and Drogba coming back to serve his 1 game suspension… which is our game, will we show the maturity to see out games?????) It will be these things that decide the league. Will we make a signing???

  22. Samir

    I’d go with (For Bolton);
    ………..Fanianski…………..
    …Sagna–Gallas–Vermy–Traore…
    ………Nasri..Diaby………….
    ………..Fabregas
    ..Walcott–Arshavin–Rosicky……

4-3-3 with Diaby and Nasri staying slightly behind Fabregas.
I would put Clichy in there but we can’t drop Troare
after he has hardly made a mistake. He might though after not handling Landon Donaovan very well……
Vela might start instead of Walcott, Wenger might not want to throw him in against a physical Bolton side straight away!

  23. Samir

Yerp if we do mess them games up only Wenger will be to blame. No one else. Nothing to do with injuries really. Wenger could have bought a striker, and still can if he wants to!

  24. Samir

    Sion De Freitas ;

    AGE- 23
    Height—1.86 m (6 ft 1 in)
    Playing position—-Striker / winger

    Sounds like what we need!

  25. A

Walcott isn’t fit for Bolton Samir.

    I’m going for

    Fabianski

    Sagna Gallas Vermaelen Clichy

    Cesc Diaby Nasri

    Rosicky Arshavin Eduardo

Though maybe Eastmond in midfield rather than Nasri, and only one of Nasri or Rosicky starting up top with Arshavin and Eduardo.

  26. A

I’d be happy with 12 points Samir.

We have a very good chance if we’re within 6-7 points after this spell of games, and if we get 12 points, the furthest behind we could be is 7 points.

  27. Samir

    A;
WTF? Walcott has another injury…. Bloody hell. He’s a liability.
With him out I would go with the same line up as you. Maybe Traore instead of Clichy however…
And we all know Wenger has a soft spot for Almunia. I pray he does not start though.
Imagine him trying to catch their set pieces. He never comes out for the right ones does he….. And usually get knocked about by big strikers…. KEVIN DAVIES!

  28. Zorr0

I see the bindippers have been trying to nab Santa Cruz on loan or Jones as a buy. Sneaky bid for RSC??

    A, ReggieReg, how’s it going?

  29. Zorr0

Good mate, fed up with the poxy weather getting our games cancelled, havn’t played since Dec 19th now!

Hoping Coyle has confused the fuck out of the noblot players by tring to get them to keep it on the floor this week!

  30. reggie57

Coyles a good manager though trys to play football in the right way, lets hope them inbred northern monkeys take a few weeks to learn!!

  31. A

Not another injury Samir, just not totally recovered yet, another week or two apparently.

Yeah I do think it’d be harsh to drop Traore, but I dunno, mentally I reckon Clichy returning would give us a boost.

Yeah not bad zorro, your good self? I’d rather not santa cruz, too slow etc.

  32. A

reggie I can’t see him even trying to get them to play his way until he has time to bring in an entire new squad in the summer! Bolton’s current players don’t have the footballing ability to play good football

  33. Ray in SF

    Fabianski

    Left

    Traore…Clichy…Vela/Eduardo

    Middle

    Gallas/Vermaelen…Cesc…Diaby

    Right

    Sagna…Nasri…Arshavin

  34. Zorr0

Chesney at Brentford looks to have a right fiery attitude. They won 3-1, but at 2-0 he let in a pen, the ball hit the back of the net and rebounded back out to the line. As the forward came in to try and grab it to get the game going, Chesney dived full length on to the ball and got up giving the forward a right mouthful, lol! Quality, another mentalist keeper!

  35. Ja_Gunner

    A

How do you know that Adriano does not want to leave Brazil?

If not Adriano..he should sign someone for the short term..because this run of games coming up will make or break our season…..and I know Arshy and Eddy alone cant take us through..and count Bendy out cuz he wont be 100% fit or sharp until after that run…

  36. Ray in SF

I agree A someone short-term. They’ll get us over the ‘hump’. If they make it long-term…pure bonus.

Besides, if they are good enough to help us short-term they’ll have kept their resale value.

  37. Ray in SF

    riddle me this

if AW’s been watching Sol and is impressed and wants him

WTF: didn’t he get him match-fit for January 1st and have Sol available from day one

The plaudits for Sol followed by the usual, “He’s not match fit yet,” is really annoying

  38. incesc

    who the fuck is walcott??

no seriously is he that guy who came on in september, got some treatment and never played again.

  39. A

He said it recently apparently Ja. Pity as I like him as a player, wouldn’t have minded that at all. I desperately want Saha now, though I doubt it’ll happen.

    Laters zorro

  40. Samir

    We are cursed.
It’s so obvious, every year we have the most injuries which are all to our most important players.

  41. A

Ray I’d assume that it’s because it’s only now that Senderos is absolutely leaving, so only now that Sol was needed.

    Yeah I know gm

  42. AA23

We will win all of the games we have coming up. We will look back on this period of the league as the point where we overtook Chelsea and Man u on the way to winning the league
Its going to be our favourite bit of the season review DVD.

    ————————

He already did that….but it was preseason.

  44. Pat

We can’t give away free kicks tomorrow. They have Taylor who can score some screamers.

Davies will be back as well.

I’m sure none of you expected Burnley to play so well against United at Old Trafford. Lets not be complacent. Bolton will be tough with Coyle there. He’s changed the entire mood of the club.

Score early, and keep scoring. Finish them off early. Don’t give them confidence.

  45. David

I am thinking about signing a striker but I must confess I am not close to doing anything because I do not find a player who can convince me,’ said Wenger

    ——————–

    Stop messing about Arsene ffs!

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-1243770/Piers-Morgan-Thierry-Henrys-Arsenal-old-boy-Arsene-Wenger-really-needs.html?ITO=1490

I’d definitely take him back if Wenger won’t sign any other striker. He’s still got the class, love, passion, and skill.

We won’t depend on him like we used to, but he will be the beneficiary of some great supply. I have no doubt in my mind that he can link up superbly with Arshavin and Cesc.

DO it Wenger. We need a striker, any above average striker will do at this point.

  47. nucks

Mark my words, eddie will come good!! he is getting sharper and sharper in every game. i will ram this down everybody’s throats. What happened to the best natural finisher we have seen since ian wright? For fuck sake, he hasn’t become crap over night, have some faith!!! Cmon Eddie, EDUARDO, EDUARDO, EDUARDO, EDUARDO!!!

  48. nucks

what do you think nucks, do you think that ashley cole is the best left back in the world like allen shearer reckons?

  49. Ray in SF

Pat: If a new manager gives the team a boost, imagine the boost Thiery would give

Thiery, AA, Rosicky, Eduardo..gives me a boost just thinking about it

  50. nucks

no A, sorry i meant gibbs, gilbert seems a little off the pace in the quest of being one of the best full backs in the world….

  51. A

ah ok, i was confused there! I was at london road to see gilbert make his peterborough debut today, did ok, never be arsenal class though

  52. Ray in SF

    ………..Fabianski

    Sagna…Gallas…Sylvestre…Traore

    ………..Vermaelen

    ……..Cesc……Rosicky

    Arshavin…..Diaby…..Vela

We can see how things are working out, who shows up to ‘play’ and we have Nasri and Eduardo and JET and Clichy to make any adjustments, if necessary

or we can start with Randall, give him the task of taking Davies ‘out’ and then beat Bolton while we play with 10 men

  53. AA23

    Ray
thers no point in anyone ever turning up to football again according to the press.
Chelsea are invincible once more and will never drop anther point for the next 4000 years and beating Sunderland today shows that they are the best football side in the history of mankind.
The worlds governments are actually considering dissolving football as a sport now because Chelsea have perfected it and there is no, point in it anymore.
Where were you the day Chelsea “completed” Football?

  54. nucks

A, love that harry rdknapp comparison. aa23, yes, i agree with the media, chelsea had football wrapped up years ago when ashley left….. it is amazing how pundits like a safe punt on a formula they are familiar with, i.e chelsea (this year) and man u (last year) let’s not forget, our extremely young Arsenal came close 2 years ago…. fuck me shall we we tip Brazil for the world cup and stickour necks on the line??….

  55. incesc

this time last year when fabregas was injured i said lets buy felliani

look at the guy he is class. if we dont buy him now he will end up at united or chelsea.

    denilson vs felliani

    please

  56. Ray in SF

    LMAO AA23,

perhaps for any future games we can pretend it’s a reenactment, they’re very popular here in the States (specially as they have no real history of their own)

  57. nishanth

I am looking at buying strikers because when we started the season we were playing with Van Persie and Bendtner up front. But at the moment we don’t have either of them, while we are also without Walcott. So we are missing those three as we enter a very important period of the season when every point is crucial and can make the difference at the end of a season.”
“It’s true I did sign Arshavin very late on in last year’s window – but we had him on our side, he wanted to leave and he had authorisation to speak to clubs.”

“But right now I am not close, because I am yet to find a player who can convince me that he is better than what we have already.” If he doesn’t buy, Wenger will have to persevere with Arshavin and Eduardo up front until Bendtner is fully fit.

What are the chances of him finding that striker by the end of january?

  58. Jaguar

The chances are zilch unless Mr.Wenger finds a cheap,francophonic,crock/toddler by the end of this month. If doesnt,he wouldnt buy,as we are almost certain to finish fourth, and it would certainly mean that Mr.Wenger would have his bonus for no spending.what a fucking disgrace for my club!.

  59. Pat

Call me crazy, but the way we conduct our transfers led me to this idea.

What about Djibril Cisse. He’s a proven goal scorer and has 15 goals in 17 apps for Panathanaikos this season. He’s cheap as well, 28 years of age, 6’1.

    Just a suggestion

  60. gnarleygeorge9

    Afternoon all

Results so far this round certainly indicate to me that a 3rd spot finish is the very minimum The Arsenal should achieve in the PL.

Also 2 wins by a total of 4 goals over the next 6 days would see The Arsenal go Top. Aaaaaaaahhhhhhh this beer is tasting good :P

  61. Pat

ethan, I think we can finish above the Mancs, quite easily actually. They didn’t deserve to win today.

Burnley missed 2 sitters, 1v1 chances, and hit the post and United never really created anything clearcut.

The opening goal was a deflection, quite possible their 99th of the season.

  62. Pat

Gooby, rumors in Poland say those rules will be put into effect in 2011 or 2012. Haven;t read that article, but I know what its about. I’m all for it.
