Clichy and Fab man are back, Eastmond signs a long termer and Campbell wishes he never left!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So good news all round, we now have all our kids on long term deals, well apart from Merida, Campbell says he wished he’d never have left, Cesc and Clichy are back for the Bolton game and Ade says he was naked and asked someone for a shirt and didn’t realise the shirt he put on was an XXL Arsenal one, I believe that, he never knew he was offside either. Twat.

Lets talk about the Bolton game today, I think we have a good squad to choose from but we lack height up top, all our tall players are out so I would maybe try something different for the game, mix it up a bit and see what happens.

Here’s my side for the game on Sunday.

Fabianski (not Aluminia please)

Sagna Gallas Campbell (Silvestre second half) Clichy

Nasri Cesc Vermaelen

Rosicky Diaby Arshavin

I would give Vermaelen the DM spot to see what happens, I would start with Campbell to see what he can do, he’s big and is desperate to prove himself and if he doesn’t last, then bring on Silvestre to finish.

Nasri, Cesc and Vermaelen in the middle with Rosicky and Arshavin out wide with big man Diaby up front, that way we have a target man, strength in midfield and a solid, going nowhere back four.

It’s time to drop Almunia, he can’t keep giving him chances any more than he could Lehmann when he went missing. Time to be firm and make some tough decisions.

I have always been a fan of Campbell, he is so strong and against bullies like Davies, he would be perfect. If we don’t play him, why buy him?

Why break up Gallas and Vermaelen? Well they are solid true, but we do still concede at set pieces, freeing him up to break up play could be a masterstroke, if we go at them with the same team that played Everton, they’ll know what to expect, and we won’t win.

I’m not saying replace Song, I’m saying Song isn’t here, so forget him for now, we can’t play kids against Bolton and I think Vermaelen could be what we’ve been missing. I also think Nasri could do the job, so if he doesn’t change the back four, then put Nasri in, bring Diaby back and try Thomas up front, either that or Vela.

We have all these players, they all have long contracts, so try them out, as for Merida, don’t play him again until he signs a new and extended contract, show him who’s boss.

We can win this, nay, we have to win this, we have to start showing the Premiership we are going nowhere but up, the others could drop points, but my fear isn’t those in front, it’s those behind, we should respect that and stop experimenting with the young’uns, experiment with the proven players for once.

I like Thomas and anyone who can score a hatrick against a good West Ham side deserves a run out, he’s big, awkward and very, very skillful, but he’ll never get better if he doesn’t get games, you give them to Denilson, now share it out.

I back us to beat Bolton and if he picks a team with intent, he will send out a message, no matter how many we score, we concede too many, Clichy back will add some steel, Campbell back will add some experience and against nasty sides like Bolton, that’s just what we need, so if any of you harbour a prejudice against Sol Campbell, give him a chance, this is his sort of game. And he says being back is like coming home, and I like that, welcome home Sol.

Two more days to debate, I’ve stopped speculating about new signings over the age of 8, so I won’t anymore, enjoy today, at least Cameroon lost, so Grover’s favourite Song could be back sooner than expected, I watched him give the ball away and then his uncle made a howler to let Gabon in to score, thank the good lord we didn’t sign Rigobert eh!

Rumour is new signing (if true) Samuel Galindo, will go straight into the first team squad as a left winger, hmmm, so what about new long term contract boy Vela, what happens to him? So maybe this story has no legs. Having said that another site says he will go to a Spanish club on loan as we can’t get him a work permit, meanwhile Pravda (Arsenal.com) remain tight lipped. We’ll see!

Have a great day people, only two left to show the flat track bullies who the new Arsenal are!

P.S. Check out dog of the week in the side bar —>

Be a bit of a weird one for City, though he’s a quality player. Seems his agent or someone else is trying to get him an improved contract at Lazio, or generate interest in him to get a move away from the club, as with the ridiculous £40 mil talk

  2. Pat

Tottenham are reportedly close to signing Slovakian goalkeeper, Jan Mucha fromm Legia Warsaw.
Redknapp is still keen on bringing in another goalkeeper as cover for Heurelho Gomes, after Carlo Cudicini was ruled out for the season in a motorcycle accident.
Mucha’s contract is up at the end of the season and is interested in a move to England, with Legia understandably keen on cashing in on their man as opposed to risking losing him for nothing in the summer.
A transfer for the Slovakian stopper would cost in the region of £2.5million, with the player hinting at a possible move himself.
Mucha said, “I can’t say yes, I can’t say no. Everything will be sorted out in the next few days.”
Stoke have also been linked with a move for Mucha, whilst other reported Tottenham targets include Stipe Pletikosa and Watford’s Scott Loach.

Fuck. ANd we’re still stuck with Almunia ffs.

    Come post something today…

If youre going donate $100.00 to any charity of my choosing…

    How bout Haiti? :D

Loius Saha is a NO NO. We dont need another Left Footed forward.

  4. Ray in SF

It’s Klingon to me too El Tel, but not to Senderos, Hindi and Gujurati are two of his 27 languages

Did I mention that if we’re not going to get any value from Phil on the pitch at least we should get some value from him on the transfer market?

letting him go on a pre-contract with a Serie A club, such a waste, such a waste

  5. David

Not the sort of singing we need Pat.

We need more right footed or more importantly two footed players.

Adriano would fit the bill. But he’s also a natural lefty.

  6. patthegooner

Coles name does keep coming up

I always thought that this month was a case of Chamakh or no one.

Maybe it is Cole or no one, but it is all dependant on him getting fit.

I would take him though. Not my first choice, but he would improve our squad. Chuck in Parker too and I am well happy.

  7. David

Even with a fit VanP we still wouldnt have the squad to win the CL imo…

We need a right footed player…good in the air…hold the line up with back to goal…etc..etc..

  8. Ray in SF

We’re not looking for Mr Right, we’re looking for Mr Right-Now

Janko 6.5 million, Saha who knows, Cole, Kenwynne, who gives a flying…

to continue the Mr Right-Now analogy…we need a warm willing body who performs adequately and is available right now

better than have? yup, cos the ‘best’ we have at the moment are lame or on their way to becoming lame

  9. A

Not sure what right footed has to do with anything, though I do agree about the Champs League, I wouldn’t be confident regardless of who our forward was because of our defensive naiveties as a team.

  10. David

I think a right footed forward should and would speak for itself…specially when we’ve had Eduardo in positions to score and he’s had to cock it up because he tried to put the ball on his left foot.

Defensive naiveties is a major problem ofcoarse. But Having only one right footed forward means there is no balance.

  11. Ray in SF

you know in spite of the naivety defensively, we have conceded 4 fewer goals this season compared to the same fixtures last season

  12. Keyser

Why not Agger ? Carragher would get slaughtered playing for us, we don’t get much from refs and he’s always all over players.

  13. patthegooner

    Keyser

Agger or Skrtel would be better than Carragher

I know Skrtel is not having a great season, but it is hard to judge the real ability of Liverpool players at the moment as I get the impression none of them want to play for the Fat Spanish Waiter

  14. patthegooner

Didn’t Agger nearly leave in the Summer as well.

Maybe we should get Nic B to have a word next time there is an international break

  15. gambon

    786

As far as i remember he was a clairefontaine graduate who joined us about 1999, big strong CB/DM.

Wenger called him “the new vieira” then a year later sold him to Dortmund & he became a RB who covers in DM.

  16. Keyser

“..Wenger wont spend that much IMO on any defender though. He hates defenders & GKs.”

How much would Agger cost ? and what are you on about ?!

  17. Keyser

How quick is Carlton Cole ?! Bendtner, Van Persie, Eduardo, I’d want someone quick to add to those lot, unless Walcott beefs up.

  18. gambon

    Keyser

He would cost £15m plus if we wanted him.

And check how much weve spent on the back 5 positions vs the front 6 since Wenger joined.

Its ridiculously weighted towards attackers. Hence why we have never been able to defend and we have a retard in goal.

  19. Keyser

“Its ridiculously weighted towards attackers. Hence why we have never been able to defend and we have a retard in goal.”

You’re not even trying now, you used to at least back up what you said with something rational or reasonable.

Vermaelen cost 10 million, I think Liverpool would accept a bid in that range, if we really wanted him.

  20. gambon

Carlton Cole is quick but not lightning. Good signing if it happens, would give us a great option.

I dont think it’ll happen though.

  21. Keyser

I dunno about great, Adebayor was pretty quick, but was also lumbering and awkward at times, Cole seems even more heavyweight.

A young Carew might have been nice.

  22. gambon

I just think he has everything we really miss. Height, power & directness.

A team like Chelsea for example wouldnt really need him, but we dont really have any of them types.

Also Carlton Cole & Nik on the bench would give us the best squad strikers in the league by far.

  23. ManGoonian

Oh fuck me! You want proof the twats ONLY replay and replay dives by foreigners and make them into massive public enemies, while letting English players off scot free…

The fuckers on Sky refuseing to go on about Agbonlahors diving!!! And O Neill still goin on about Young being carded when they played us!!!

  24. ManGoonian

    Was it bollocks!!!

If it was Eduardo, they’d be replaying it ad effin nauseum innit!

Whether it was or not, the fact they give the English players, the benefit of the doubt, ALL THE TIME!

    Aww fuck em…

  25. ManGoonian

Nah, just sitting on the washing machine during the spin cycle!!

    Hey Ethan!

How’s the breast augmentation goin? You got those tits you were eyeing up yet? How long before you go the whole hog?

  26. big dave

    Man G.

I did hear about the Sol rumour 2 week ago, can’t remember if I posted it on here tho, cause like everyone at the time I thought it sounded like bull and wenger would not re sign him

  27. ethangunner

You got those tits you were eyeing up yet?
    —————————————
no but she will be mine about midday today :)

she paid 20 k for em .. and im sure she would never drown in a boating accident either ?!

  28. Ray in SF

thanks for the great read Keyser

enjoyed the keeper video — the coach’s expression at the end of the clip says it all

come to think of it there are a lot of Arsenal fans that wear that expression whenever we defend against a set piece

but that’s all changed now Sol’s here

  29. ethangunner

well if you think that imagery was graphic …

    proverb of the day
    ———————-
there’s something just not right about dragging your colon across your neighbors lawn at 6 am in the morning …

  30. ethangunner

its easier just to remember to buy toilet paper ..

or Kee -Kadart as we say here in the land of smiles ..

i should stop having those dog dreams :)

  31. Pat

Theo mystery injury. Supposedly out of both Bolton games and Arsenal will try to see if the recent injuries are linked with the shoulder surgery

  32. Keyser

gambon – I’d want pace though along with it, we haven’t had surpreme pace for a while, Henry, Anelka, even Wright.

Ray in SF – Heh, just saw it on newsnow, thought it’d be perfect for the Grove.

  33. Gooby

    supreme pace= theo

only if he got football brain of henry, anelka.

i would be curious to see what can happen on 100m sprint involving
    Sol vs shitevestre

i really can’t stand to see shitevestre in a arsenal shirt.

  34. A

100m sprint between those two Gooby?!

I reckon Sol would collapse and pass out around the 70m mark, Silvestre might make another 10m before passing out.

  35. Gooby

i reckon our CBs are becoming too old these days. 32 33 and 35 we need some kids here.

C`mon wenger bring us some young CB’s.

  36. Gooby

A- that would be great mate. two CB at 25/24/23 each for a long term partnership.

i think wenger should a make a move for a stiker after the double bolton games.

  37. Gooby

lol jaguar. i am not that optimistic about sol’s speed. But sivestre is a huge disaster and senderos is miles better than him, i don’t know why wenger is doing with him he used to like him before :(

  38. A

I reckon the wheels are already in motion for a striker Gooby, though it might not happen until then. Please let us nab Saha, be an amazing signing.

I agree too, a right sided CB to play alongside Vermy for the next decade! Fabianski in goal too, that defensive core that’ll become synonymous with the club!

  39. Jaguar

I wish I were a injured, cheap,French crock footballer. It would have been a highway to a £50k per week contract at Arsenal.

  40. Gooby

i wonder if kyle bartley can be the answer to partner vermy.

all these english kids signing extensions means they will get a chance to prove themselfs at the next level.

i believe that Gibbs, JET and aneke are going to be great players for us along with jackie boy.

  41. A

Yeah possibly Gooby, though I can’t imagine it’ll happen anytime soon. Maybe that will be the plan eventually, but I still see someone coming in in the summer.

Next season Bartley will most likely go off on loan to a Championship side, maybe even second half of this season, though maybe more likely to be a league 1 team right now, then at the end of next season he could be ready to make the move into the first team squad.

Next season I see us having Gallas, Vermy, and JD, with one player signed as additional back up.

  42. A

Unless Nordveit returns in the summer and comes into the first team squad, which is certainly a possibility. Maybe he’ll come in as cover at DM and centre back if needs be, or Song will drop back to centre back.

  43. Gooby

silvestre really needs to retire and i’m saying that for the good of the arsenal and for the player himself.

at one stage players become ridiculous. they have to know when to stop. Berkamp for exemple played until 36 and still looked class, what a legend.

silvestre needs to stop playing football, and sorry if i am a bit harsh but it’s my opinion.

  44. Gooby

    A

i would rather keep song in the DM. he may turn into a CB at a latter stage when he’s got enough experience.

nordveit seems like a good player, he is tall too. we’ll see what he can do in the prem hopefully next year!

  45. A

Yeah I agree Gooby, I’d much rather keep Song there, currently there are very few players I’d have over him at DM, but just saying as cover, perhaps. It’s a pity Nordveit has been playing as a DM in Germany, would’ve been good for him to get a season at centre back under his belt.

  46. Gooby

    A

i hope so. can’t wait for saha to come if he is coming. i wasn’t too excited about the idea first but thinking about it he can be massive addition for us, he is still fast, bloody intellingent, and a can grab lots of goal.

in our system wich is a heaven for stiker he will even score more. imo, get saha it is less riscky signing.

  47. A

once rosicky returns? he’s been fit for a while now, played in the last game….

yeah Gooby, VERY few players I’d want us to sign more than Saha, and none that are realistic or rumoured!

Though I wouldn’t agree our system is heaven for a striker to score loads of goals, no one player gets loads of chances, but Saha could certainly fit in, put away chances that came his way, and be a valid part of the goalscoring machine that is our attack in general!

  48. ethangunner

all these english kids signing extensions means they will get a chance to prove themselfs at the next level.
    —————————————
more like it is done to ensure wenger gets his pound of flesh when selling them on …

only a small fraction will make it to the 1st team ..

most kids cant improve to that level without years of experience ..
project youth if flawed , its also a way for wenger to get top bucks on his young bucks,

im sure he will have no problem moving on whoever he wants ..

but one thing that is very noticable is wenger’s choices of new young signings ..
    it started with nordveits

wellington and the new Bolivia boy ..
are definitely a lift in quality since the song / eboue days ..

i think even he realizes you need TOP TOP TOP draw youths to take the element of luck out of the equasion when it comes to securing quality .

  49. Gooby

RvP was on a good run before getting that stupid injury.

a proper physical goal scorer like saha may get more chances by acctually creating them. it would allow arshavin to get free and show us some magic again!

  50. A

You mean since the Cesc/Merida/Clichy/Bendtner/Traore days ethan?!

Neither Song nor Eboue came to the club as youth players….

We’ve not signed Gallindo yet either, wonder if it’s actually true

  51. A

Oh yeah gooby, i’m sure he’ll score goals, we create many chances a game, but no one player actually gets that many. Looking at the attempts on goal, our players havn’t actually had anywhere near as many individually as the majority of players on the top scorers list, despite as a team our outscoring everyone!!

  52. A

Jaguar Diaby didn’t come as a youth player either!

Gooby Song was 18 going on 19, and 19 when we signed him permanently, so young, but too old to play for our youth teams!

lol so Jaguar, you’re saying Diaby has gotten worse?!

  53. Gooby

jaguar- i never said the opposite, i agree with you on silvestre but diaby came good and if injuries leaves him free i’m sure he is gonna be massive mid man.

there are other exeptions of players who acctually don’t need experience to shine: messi, ronaldo(the real one), dinho, rooney(euro 2004), owen (98 he got worse with experience like silvestre).

  54. Gooby

    A

your right mate he just turn 18 when we signed him he is born the 9th of decembre, was he a summer signing? i think so nah?

  55. ethangunner

    Cesc/Merida/Clichy/Bendtner/Traore

    ????????

    cesc yes
the rest arent no where near the 1st team
and clichy is 24 .. he joined us 6 years ago as an 18 year old ..

not sure he really qualifies as the youth program , joined 2004 and in 2005 covered for cole if you remember ..

gael was not some random youth signing he clearly was back up for cole ..

even cesc it must be known, was bought at 16 and almost played straight away ..

sorry A, project youth has only really manifested into this beast in the past 2 or 3 year’s.. which coincided with the C.C rants .

before it seems players where bought for a purpose , now they are more like collectibles .
with no clear vision on their own future’s .

  56. A

Clichy was bought in 2003, but yeah he did come straight into the first team that was my point though – back then we bought top top quality kids, Clichy, Cesc, no different from now with Wellington Silva!!

  57. Jaguar

Back then,we had quality players like DB10,TH14 from whom, the kids could learn. Now players like Eboue are looking upto Shitvestre for advice. What a disgrace!

  58. ethangunner

    VP, Arshavin, Gallas, Rosicky, Cesc

well if RVP or Rosicky wernt always in the sick bay the youths might learn something .
