Arsenal’s best kept secret Campbell signs, but don’t be upset, we signed a 17 year old wonderboy as well, phew!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So, Sol Campbell turned out for the rub-a-dubs last night against, fittingly, West Ham, the team against which he played his worst ever game for us, and no he didn’t walk off, he finished the game!

I have to say I am delighted, I think he’s just what we need at the back, I really do, why did it take so long though? Why could we not have announced it on Jan 1? And before anyone says we haven’t signed him, if we hadn’t, he couldn’t have played last night.

Chamakh has agreed a £25mil deal with Liverpool, you know, the team that has no money, and to think, we could have had him for £7mil, we wanted him make no mistake, if we didn’t, we wouldn’t have bid in the first place, another one bites the dust, but never fear, we have signed Samuel Galindo, the 17-year-old ‘wonder boy’ from somewhere in Bolivia, yes another young midfielder, just what we needed, and we beat Everton to his signature too, ha, ha, that’ll teach them not to offer him £25k a week.

That should solve the problem we have up front then, how? You’ll have to ask Arsene that, because I have no idea. Merida is still around as is Senderos so we thankfully still have the third highest wage bill in the EPL.

So we have Bolton twice, Stoke, Villa and Chelsea away, Man U and Liverpool at home, then after that it gets easier, oh and we get Song and Eboue back by then so we should cruise it.

Nikki B is back in training and should be ready for the Villa away game just in time to pick up his slight thigh strain, so why were we asking for another forward? Beats me, still Arsenal know what they are doing.

I watched Nigeria versus Egypt yesterday and thought that Zidan was impressive for Egypt, they blew Nigeria away and with Mikel in their side, I at least had something to smile about, again the Puma kits impressed me, they must have done a job lot at the Cup, because apart from Nigeria who were Adidas, most of what I’ve seen is theirs.

I’m trying to work out when we’ll see this Arsenal dominating the league for years to come, I hope it’s in my lifetime but the clock is ticking.

I read that the Flamster may sign for the spuds, that would upset me no end, I would love to have that kind of fighter back at the club, I know some will say he was a one season wonder, but I loved that one season he had, I remember his goal at Villa Park, we could do with some of that right now.

Also I was on his case more than I am on Song and Denilson’s so I do admit if I was wrong about a player, I still think he could be our Romford Pelé given the chance.

Maybe all this is a smokescreen, maybe Campbell was the keystone we need and they’ll be a couple of top players sneaking in through the back door, I hope so, because right now I know we aren’t after Cahill or Hangeland, we aren’t after Matuidi or Flamini and with Theo and Bendtner coming back, it doesn’t look like we are getting that Dzeko type signing, still, we are financially stable and Liverpool clearly aren’t, if they were they would sign Chamakh wouldn’t they, …oh wait, they just did! Oops.

Have a great day today Grovers, at least we beat West Ham last night! Thomas scored a hatrick, why not try him out at Bolton? When was the last time an Arsenal player scored a hatrick? I hope we keep him, I think he’ll be a great player one day.

Well is FSW does not get the sack for that, then he never will be sacked.

Fucking Funny as Fuck. And people say you would not see that at Anfield when they criticised Gooners for booing their own off the pitch last season!!!!!

Can’t see Torres being there next season. Fuck spunk all we have on Gerrard and Torres. We would piss the league.

  2. SUGA3

    MG,

I am not holding my breath, really…

it is sad to see, but AW has officially gone nuts and won’t stregthen – it really pisses me off, as we will put up a good fight, but some spending will be the difference between 1st & 2nd IMO…

  3. ritesh

The whole of Togo knows he plays for City. The guy is like a drama queen. He always have something to say about Arsenal. If he says nothing, then he shows up in that shirt.

This is crazy. He did an interview wearing that. True he is saddened by the demise of close friends, but I cannot believe that he did that without realising.

  4. incesc

we have to beat stoke first. Lets loan them wilshere so he can give delap a few dead arms and chinese burns in training

  5. goonermichael

I’ve had a gun pointed at me as well Pedro. Seeing someone die is horrible. They don’t train you for that at hairdressing school

  6. patthegooner

Adebayor is a bit of a drama queen, but in this instance and despite hating the wanker, I do feel for him at the moment. He must of thought his life was about to end in the next second.

  7. David

    Agreed Song the Great

If Wenger had Torres chances are he’d prob get him to have his surgery and wait till he is fit.

Just like when we lost Cesc, Rosicky etc etc.

Difference is i dont think Rafa has funds for a 15m Arshavin.

What a fucking bargain that was…

WE arent always going to get bargains like that ffs…spend some cash arsene.

  8. AndAPrayer

Ade prob has arsenal shirts with him as we’re a lot better known in Africa than man city, he comes across as someone who wants to be the bug man and being associated with a club everyone knows does that. I’m sure he wouldn’t have meant to wear it on tv though.

We need a big youth team as not all of them will make it. By increasing the number of players in the youth setup you increase the chances of unearthing the next cesc. Also those who don’t make the grade are usually good enough for lower teams and bring in revenue meaning the whole operation is largely self funding. I doubt they’re paid that much as youngsters, still lots but compared to first teamers it’s a drop in the ocean, be good to have some figures though. Was listening to 5live the other day and marcotti was saying that some of the young west ham first teamers are on 3.5k a week. For a prem player that’s nothing, can’t imagine it’s that difficult to be competitve salary wise for youngsters.

  9. SongtheGreat

well i dont rate Ade at all..but if its true that another man died in his arms..i hope he recovers..that is pure shit and can feck you up bad..i was in UN(lebanon) and saw it far too often im afraid..so Ade youre a nutter…but be well..

  10. Pedro

ManG, if tea leaf Ade had anything to do with it, all of them! In their size, out of the back of an unloading lorry outside the armoury!

  11. Johan

Zorro: Do a, ctrl+F and search for my name and you’ll find the facts that the Daily Mails Bull shit about Chamakh is well, just that. Bullshit, I don’t feel like explaning it for the third time..
    ¨
And with that note I’m off to bed.

  12. Zorr0

    Gerrard anyone, you miserable fuckers?????

Interesting that today Arsenal signed Eastmond up to a new long term contract extension, when he only signed a pro contract in the Summer! I mean his first contract must have been a minimum of 2 or 3 years so why does it need extending already?

  13. SUGA3

ptg, they can’t afford to sack him ;)

unless some Scouse mafia threatens him to walk or risk ‘an accident’, they’re stuck with him…

Rafa on the TV – boo-fucking-hoo

  14. goonermichael

    Pedro
Someone told me (who was told by a bailiff) that Kanu’s house was full of sega dreamcasts. These footballers are weird I tell you

  15. patthegooner

Never been shot at, but have come under Rocket and Mortar attack in the middle east a few times. That certainly gets the heart rate going a bit.

Difference is I chose to put myself in those conditions in the full knowledge that it would probably happen at some point.

Also nothing compared to what the troops are being exposed too. They have an Adebayor moment every day (At least they get to shoot back!!!)

  16. Zorr0

Pedro, I knew that, I was wondering why he went off?

Mangoo, 50 quid a gram! Fuck me even the drug trade has dropped it’s prices for the recession!

  17. ManGoonian

    Zorro;

Please, do not be having a pop coz we are signing up and tiring down all our bestest young players per lease me old mukka!

Pro contracts (1st ones, are dead short, maybe his was for a year? And he has impressed, so they gave him a much longer deal to ward off any basterds!

  18. Pedro

    Really?

Geoff always told me the richer the sports star, the more they want for free. That’s probably celebs as a whole…

Kanu was a legend for making prostitutes where his old shirts and bow to him chanting, ‘king kanu’!

    What a champ…

  19. goonermichael

My daughter wants to work in publishing ritesh. Jersey and IOM are full of people with one eyebrow who shag thier sisters. look at le tissier and le saux

  20. SongtheGreat

    patthegooner..

either way it does change you in different ways..some cope well other have probs..and considering Ade’s mental state before the incident..hell that fellah is in big problems..if sorted out though he might become more of a man…or ??…well maybe not then-.

  21. Zorr0

Mangoo, don’t develop doommonger syndrome and say I was having a pop, when I was just pointing it out for an opinion!

Turn your nose up? That’s where you are going wrong matey!

Gambon, lol. Great performance v Cameroon by the way!

  22. charybdis1966

Did anyone else think the inteviewer was quite rude and disrespectful to Rafa on the ITV coverage?
I used to think it was just Wenger who got the loutish interviewers on ITV.
Still, let’s a laugh at the ‘dippers !

Maxi Rodrigues must be wondering what he’s signed up for.

  23. ManGoonian

    Zorro;

    Hahaha! Cheers for the advice!

Hey, I never called you a doom menger, those are your words mate! I was just saying, perhaps he was on a dead short deal, or it was for peanuts and the powers that be felt he deserved better wages…? I dunno… But I, personally am dead happy about the likes of Eastmond, Murphy, Gibbs signing on for the long term as I expect them and others to be the core of our squad for a few years to come fella…

  24. goonermichael

Did maxi whatever score that great volley against mekico in the world cup. Or am I mixing him up with someone?

  25. SongtheGreat

    come to think of it…wenger would be perfect as the mad professor in the movies ..*back to the future* ..would explain alot…;

  26. Zorr0

Just think it’s odd that they needed to give him an extended contract on the back of 2 CC games and 5 mins at Pompey, plus what AW sees at training. The boy has had a dream 12 months. Good luck to him.

  27. SUGA3

    MG

like Scholes it’s just the same ‘he just can’t tackle’ bollocks with a little chuckle from whoever happens to polish his knob in the commentary box ;)

or is it ‘great grit and commitment’?

  28. ManGoonian

    Zorro;

maybe this is gazidis tryin to make his mark on the club? Being a bit pro active with signing up players??? Given our past poorness in this area, it aint all bad!!! Unlerss they are all on £50k a week!

  29. SongtheGreat

Gazidis had his work cut out for him a long time ago…renewing contracts was one of them..and like Grimandi said in the summer…we where all about balancing the squad…i guess thats what Gazidis has been up too…and ill admit not bad…still both wenger and him seems to have forgotten about our fist team…

  30. Zorr0

MG, nah mate, have to pick and choose which aways to go to nowadays to keep the trouble onside!

    Got my chav tix though!

  31. ManGoonian

    Suga3;

Well, NOT being DD aint such a bad thing, if you ask me… The DD that tried to sell the club behind the boards back, then jumped into bed with the fat Uzbek rapist, then flogged him his shares thinkin he was gonna have the final word, by takin charge as the new chairman, but instead got fucked off by said fat United supporting Uzbek scum bag as soon as he sold his shares in supposed beloved Arsenal…. See where I am goin with this???

  32. Zorr0

Never really got a chance, possibly a CC game back in the early days of PY. Think he was at Borussia Dortmund at some point.

    What about Stoke mate?

  33. ManGoonian

WE’ve had a few of them Gambon! I thought Muamba might be, to tell da troof…

Anyone see JET’s hattrick last night? I am really hoping he can make it with us…

  34. SUGA3

    DD who brought Wenger here?

DD who is so influential in the transfer market and football in general?

yep, that he’ll never be – Gazidis is not in the same league and neither are we since he left…

  35. Zorr0

I used to live in the World’s End, when it was the Mother Red Cap back in the 60′s! Spent almost every weds night in the Palace at twist and shout night from 17-21. Fucking hell good times!

  36. ManGoonian

    Suga3;

Yep, but he treated us all like cunts on a personal whim, due to perceived wrong doings by cretain members of the board…

he went way out of line, and has destabilised the whole club thanks to his personal quest and ego… For all the good he has done, DD has forever fucked himself if you ask me…

He’s a slimy snake, who put his personal greed and need for power and revenge ahead of the club he says he lives…

    End effin of…

    Case closed…

  37. David

    To be fair ManGoo

DD has always loved Arsenal and wanted money spent on players instead of new stadium…

The Uzbek thing isnt all so bad…do you have a fat yank…or a fat Russian…personally i think the russian knows more about football.

  38. ManGoonian

Jeez, Suga3, its funny how you forgive DD and mention shite that is years old that is good about him, but slate Wenger all the time!

    Zorro;

I used to go the Palace on a Friday night and that big bare knuckle fighter dude was on the door…

  39. ManGoonian

    David;

I have nothing but hatred for that fat Uzbel cunt, his aims are not for the good of the club and if I could choose, I would rather we stayed as we are…. But if it has to be one, then 100% deffo the yank…. If DD had not have lied to Kroenke in the 1st place, or ran off in a hissy fit, we would not have to have this Mexican stand off involving our club!

Dein selling his shares to Usmanov is an unforgiveable act by a self serving, ego driven spoilt brat…

For all his good (in the past) he is a cunt, IMO…

  40. SUGA3

    ManGoon,

I think you should know that I am not one of the rabid AW haters, I just happen to see his certain shortcomings ;)

and him being ousted by the board is not really ancient history either…

  41. Zorr0

The dude from the Guy Ritchie films; Lennie Maclean? Him and his mates were a bad bunch of hardnuts! I remember we had a great tear up in there one night with some Mods, lol!

  42. ManGoonian

The same visionary who would have us share Wembley?

It was Wenger who wanted the stadium, DD disagreed, the board went with Wenger, I dont particularly like PHW, but him and his family have served the club for how ling?

Rather them than a Man United supporting fat Uzbek rapist gangster…

  43. David

If not for Dein we wouldnt have the Yank now would we?

Or did i forget how the story goes?

I think you’re right but as it stands the Yank is closer to the club…(Funny cuz Im a Yank) than the Russian..but i think Dein didnt have faith in Arsene’s long term delirium with project youth..and so far he’s been right. I mean besides the stadium we havent had much success since he left.

Dean knew the alternative was a Sugar Daddy…

  44. ManGoonian

    Zorro;

    Yeah, thats the fella!

    Suga3;

DD wouldnt have been ousted if he hadnt fucked off the USA and told a pack of lies to Kroenke AND the board… he fucked up, went on an ego trip and bollocksed things up and we are STILL suffering the consequences…

BUT, I am too fucked to go ovewr it all again… I loved Dein, him and Wenger made a great team and as I have already said, PHW is an embarrassment a lot of the time…

But, given the state of the scousers and the billion dollar debt united are saddled with, leys try and keep things as is, I reckon….

That Uzbek cunt will fuck us up in the long run, I do not doubt it… The fucker was demanding dividends for share holders after 5 minutes of owning any FFS!

  45. ManGoonian

    Suga3;

Dein told Kroenke he had the authority toi sell him the club! he was effin lying! He told the board he was just setting up a merchandising and training link up!

  46. ManGoonian

We have the yank, because he was on board thru the link up, David…

Dein lied to Kroenk as well as the board! Then DD jumped into bed with the nearest billionaire he could find in order to fuck the board, but in the process he has fucked the club and himself!

  47. Pat

No club was going to spend big on Arshavin because he would be able to buy out his contract in August, or November, for a measly 2.5 million.

Zenit were always going to sell last minute. Barca had a 15m bid rejected early on and Spurs had a 17m bid rejected.

We fought till the end and Zenit finally budged.

  48. Pat

No MG, the buying out contract thing was Arshavin. Googled that before I posted :D

As if Liverpool’s season couldn’t get any worse, key trio Fernando Torres, Steven Gerrard and Yossi Benayoun will undergo scans on injuries picked up in tonight’s 2-1 defeat to Reading in the FA Cup.

Torres and Gerrard picked up knocks during the first half of the dismal performance as the Reds crashed out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle.

Although Benayoun played the full 120 minutes of football, he has suffered some pain to his ribs and will also await test results.

After the game a downbeat Rafa Benitez confirmed, “Stevie and Fernando will have a scan tomorrow and we have to wait for the doctor.

“Gerrard has a problem with his hamstring and Torres twisted his knee.

“Yossi Benayoun also has some problems with his ribs so again we will have to wait.”

  49. Pat

    Senderos move imminent, I think.

Official: Australia Captain Lucas Neill Joins Galatasaray From Everton

Saha move imminent as well? Lets hope.

  50. Pat

Lionel Messi – 7.5: Took him a while to get going but he was Barca’s greatest threat. Ran out of options at times and probably tried to do too much on his own as Sevilla were well organised at the back.

Thierry Henry – 4.5: Can’t be faulted for effort but so much of it was misdirected. He doesn’t look like a confident footballer. Petulant yellow late on.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – 5: Never looked comfortable and was off the pace throughout the game. Had one decent header but really should have scored in the first half.

  51. A

Pat I’d be delighted if that transfer chain happened. We sign to replace senderos, who goes to everton to replace neil, who goes to gala, and saha comes our way in return

  52. Jaguar

Saha would perfectly fit the bill
    1)French
    2)Crocked
    3)…………….

FFS,we dont want another crock here. But I know that the French bastard wouldnt spend a penny on quality players,FFS.

  53. Jaguar

Saha is quality. But considering our famous training regime,he would be a good companion to Rosicky, for the rest of the season.

  54. SongtheGreat

i have to agree…Saha looks like the best chance we have of gettin any quality at all in…so i’d go for him…and just let us get the feck rid of senderos….i just want to play..but not in the reserves..what a joke..eh??

  55. LAzer

The NEGATIVE BLEAT award of the day goes too…

    incesc Says:

    January 13, 2010 at 20:14
by the end of february we will beat best 5th.

wehavent played well for weeks and with enilson in for song and arshavin as our target man our season has pretty much ended

fuck u wenger, bad management once again

  56. A

lol there was a lot of competition for that prestigious award today Lazer, got a classic there though!

“I think he was just really watching me train and studying me,” added Campbell, who could make his first-team return in the FA Cup clash at Stoke a week on Sunday.

“Seeing how I am, putting certain sessions on, and they all talk from the physio to the fitness guy to the manager.

Basically, they did a massive dossier on me and the stats are very good, very good. You would be surprised.

    That reassures me a bit

  57. LAzer

Yeah we could hand em out by the truck load in groverville eh A! Am guilty of some myself at times, nothing as classic as that one though. Wasn’t even an end of season praedo, Incesc went straight end of Feb on us.

It is a valid point about Sol, the proof will be in the pudding as they say. Everyone said RVP couldn’t play through the middle at the start and then we were on record setting goal scoring pace all of a sudden. That’s another Wenger 1-Grovers nil. I trust him enough to have seen Sol for a lengthy period of time and weigh all the pros and cons. We needed a backup CB, am glad he has addressed that for now, the performances will judge the rest.

  58. A

I wouldn’t say EVERYONE said that he couldn’t play through the middle Lazer! ;-)

I really hope it is a case of Sol genuinely proving that he’s physically still at a level where he can play for us and be good, rather than Senderos kicking up so much of a fuss that we finally agreed to sell, and Sol being in the right place at the right time so it’s just a knee-jerk reaction, regardless of the fact he’s not up to it anymore.

I really would be so happy if Sol signing for us (and being good) allowed Senderos to go to Everton to replace Neil, with Saha coming the other way. Then it would just be a case of snapping up Matuidi and I’d be very very happy and confident about the second half of the season!

  59. LAzer

In an ideal world it sounds terrific…You might be spot on about Sendy, we never know. Wenger always tries to find a home for players that want out and seems like the rift btw him and AW is too wide now. I hope Arsene is just taking the cheap route at the back with decent cover on Sol and not ONLY cause of being forced on selling Phil, so he can spend in mid and up top. I’d take Saha.

Did you happen to see St. Etienne play today? I think the French Cup was on. The Matudi rumours haven’t surfaced in ages really.

  60. A

No I missed it Lazer, too much other footy on, cheered on Gabon to their victory over Cameroon, Milan, Reading-Liverpool, Sevilla-Barca, good footballing day!

Yeah no Matuidi rumours for quite a while, but could be just because the papers havn’t thought about the fact we need a DM, so only been doing striker rumours really.

I don’t know much about Matuidi tbh, just what I’ve heard really, but someone like that would be awesome, though if Cameroon get knocked out in the group stages Song returning that early would be amazing!!

  61. LAzer

Song returning early would be huge, but long term I think healthy competation between Matuidi, Eastmond and Coquelin would be good as well. Besides I hate to say it but sooner or later Song, even though he is built like an ox, will have an injury as well. I don’t see Denilson as a pure DM.

I had that one earmarked cause would have finally seen a game of his but missed it too. Ya was a solid footie day!

  62. Pat

Hmm, 2 days ago a Sunderland blog was very optimistic of signing Matuidi for 5.5 million. They only have 3 CMs apparently and Cana may be used at CB.

I’ll keep researching. Trying to find any news on him.

  63. Pat

Alternative options would be Senna and Engelaar. I’d be happy with either tbh.

Senna just came back from injury and Villareal isn’t having the best of seasons

  64. LAzer

Losing out on Chamakh, if that were the case, would be bearable. I have seen a bit of him and though his game looks ideally suited to our style I don’t think Bendtner and RVP will both be out for such an extended period of time too often (who the hell am I kidding knowing our track record eh!)

Matuidi on the other hand has the feel for an ideal Wenger-ish signing and a position it is notoriously difficult to have any sort of depth at. If the boy is class and we lose out to the folks at Stadium of Shite, I would be truly disappointed.

Btw where did all the Cana bandwagon boys go now that he is strutting his very average stuff week to week in the Prem? There was probably thousands of posts on here begging his signing over past two summers.

  65. A

Lazer long term I’d say having Song, with Denilson, Coquelin, and Eastmond is pretty healthy competition, that’s 4 players for one position! Short term though, Song away, and Denilson having injury concerns, we’ve got 0 players who can play that position!

That’d surprise me Pat, I got the impression that Matuidi was actually decent, and wanted by us and others, no way Sunderland would actually get him! If he’s available for that I’m sure we’d be interested….

  66. Pat

And from google translate, I stumbled upon a St. Etienne blog.

On Jan. 10th rumors in France appeared that we’d loan out Traore to them.

And Comolli is no long the director, or whatever he was. He dropped down to a lower position after Perrin got the sack

  67. Pat

The good thing about Matuidi is that he is a left footed CDM, who can also take over as a playmaker. So he can play with Cesc and Song.

We should make a cheeky bid for Flamini. If Sol can come back, Flamini should be asked as well. We fookin dominated LPool in the CL until he got injured :(

  68. lutongooner

Good signing. I cant believe people still want Villa, he’s 29 and will take time settling in, plus he’s tiny and we haven’t got 30mil to take a risk like that. Even Torres who is 6″2 looks lightweight at times. Someone near the top mentioned Matiudi, wasn’t a deal close to being completed in the summer?

  69. LAzer

I don’t know about Denilson A. I know he is seen as a CDM but as a lone CDM I am not too excited about him. He does everything about average, tackling is below average for me for that position though. He is too lightweight at times and gets brushed of the ball as well. He does partially make up for it being a good reader of the game, having a decent pass on him when having the guts to try and maybe an above average shot for a CDM. Still as a primary, lone CDM I don’t entirely trust him right now.

  70. Keralite Gooner

“Lionel Messi has told senior Barcelona teammate Thierry Henry to tone down his arm waving during games.”

sure henry just loves waving his hands….just ask the irish national team

  71. ethangunner

denilson over the long haul will be better than song , he needs some time inthe gym and a good defensive coach who can teach him how to tackle .

denilson has a good pass on him like lazer said and does fit into the wengerball style almost faultlessly .

    but as a defender .. hmmmm ..
i think someone like JD or TV05 would be better
    in that crucial role ..

  72. ethangunner

in fact the closer TV can get to the goal the better , the guy is no light weight in front of goal ..

id go with getting a new a CD partner for gallas and do a shuffle –
and 1 striker and use fab 2 for the rest of the season … for the cost of the ade money you could have this team close enough to the chev’s .

  73. ArsenalKenya

OOH OOH POOR POOR LIVERPOOL ! I PITY YOU….

    WHAT WENT WRONG WITH BENITEZ……

WITH BIG MONEY MAN CITY URGING HIS BOYS TO EAT PIZZA AND TAKE WINE B4 GAMES …THE BIG 4 IS UP FOR A RESHUFFLE THIS YEAR.
