No one in but Sol Campbell and Denilson will return soon. I have now seen the light!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So after the interesting game that saw us win a point against top team Everton on Saturday, fans will have to wait until Sunday until we play Bolton. I for one can’t wait.

Pedro covered the game yesterday, all I can say there is at least the mercurial Denilson will be back on Sunday, Bendtner will be back in two weeks, Almunia got through the game un-injured and we may well be re-signing Sol Campbell, happy days then, the really good news is we won’t be spending any money so we will be in good financial shape.

Yes I know we didn’t really make the most of that game but don’t complain, we are in great shape. We are in third spot in the English Premier League, in the next round of the FA Cup and through the group stages of the European Champions league, how can we not be happy with that?

Resigining Sol Campbell will be like signing a new player and Fran Merida looks like he’ll be staying, I understand Man City, Aston Villa, Spurs, Man United and Chelsea are also thrilled we’ll be making no more signings, as they also believe we have enough in the locker room.

So they are thrilled, the board are thrilled and many of our weekend bloggers that came on, will also be besides themselves with our progress.

For any of you that may be a little disappointed out there, don’t be, as we are in great financial shape, and that’s the most important thing.

Ivan is rumoured to be taking the rest of the season off along with the 300 worldwide scouts we have, as there will be nothing to do until the summer, when all the 17 year old starlets will be looking for their first big professional contracts, and we all know that Arsenal is seen as the place to be as we pay so well and they will all get a chance to impress.

I just hope that Almunia gets a new and extended contract soon to match Denilson’s, as going through the summer wondering whether or not he’ll be off to Real Madrid will be too much for me to handle.

Anyone who may be a little nervous at the performance against Everton, don’t be, they drew against Chelsea, drew against Spurs and lost to us 6-1, but our team showed the same spirit as they did when we played Chelsea, so we have a lot to look forward to, mental strength, financial stability are massively important and don’t forget, we have a very young squad.

Not a lot more that I can add to all that. I hope this post shows the few doubters out there, that we are now true Arsenal fans, just like they are.

Have a great day Grovers, I’m sure our competitors will!

facts are twisted now that it doesnt involve arsenal? lol

if it were wenger that has done this over the last 5 years we wouldnt hear anything else

  2. Keyser

“facts are twisted now that it doesnt involve arsenal? lol”

Exactly, what’s odd is an Arsenal fan twisting them to make United and fergus look good..

  3. SUGA3

fuck me, what is the point of signing 17 year olds?

this club has the priorities on its head:

academy -> property developer -> football club

last time I checked, we were called ‘Arsenal Football Club’, ffs…

  4. Keyser

Roy Keane was also signed for a British transfer fee record.

In 2001 Fergie broke the record 3 times within the space of 13 months.

  5. Pat

Franchise, Grant did very well for CHelsea and he was sacked because he doesn’t have a reputation. You are oh so daft to be asking these questions.

Franchise, the SIMPLE fact is, he did absolutely nothing without money when he first became manager. It was only once a lot more money became available for him that he started winning with United. He relies HEAVILY on money.

  6. SUGA3

    Cotto,

Wenger is nowhere near being ‘beheaded at the Tower’, despite the Tower being in close vicinity

what is more, some Gooners continue blowing smoke up his arse…

and oh yes: ‘Richards is shit, nowhere near good enough for Arsenal’

    mwahahahahahaha…

  7. Franchise

Ferguson was manager of St. Mirren from 1974 until 1978, producing a remarkable transformation of a team in the lower half of the old Second Division watched by crowds of just over 1,000, to First Division champions in 1977, discovering talent like Billy Stark, Tony Fitzpatrick, Lex Richardson, Frank McGarvey, Bobby Reid and Peter Weir while playing superb attacking football.[14] The average age of the league winning team was 19 and the captain, Fitzpatrick, was 20

  8. SUGA3

my point is that we are missing out on being competitive for the sake of some bullshit principles…

‘we would do a Leeds’, ‘we can win the league with this squad’…

    yawn…

  9. Cotto

    bully for him franchise

what the fuck has that got to do with arsenal?

this is an arsenal blog.. manc land is that way

  10. Pat

Franchise, Wenger’s Anelka business was much more impressive than the CR deal.

1st off, much more money is wasted nowadays
2ndly, percentage wise, Anelka deal was more profitable. Percentage wise, obviously.
3rdly, Madrid have had 2 eras of Galacticos were they spend enormous amounts of money. Anelka was bought outside these years.

And of course the facts are skewed and you’re skewing them. The CR sale completely is out of hand when comparing over a 5 year period. Take last years numbers and its a whole different, and much more accurate, view.

    Franchise, clueless as always

  11. Keyser

Fergie’s henchmans got Franchise in a headlock, someone call the pohlice…

Dayum Fergie won the Scottish Championship, back then it was like winning the Premiership now.

  12. David

    Cotto Come on man

Giggs joined at 18, Beckham at 16, Lee Sharp at 17, David May 18, Paul Scholes at 16…

    Who is following who?

  13. SUGA3

    Pat,

but taking Ronaldo sale out of the equation is just twisting facts to suit your argument…

and no, I am not bigging up SAF, I hate the cunt, but credit where it’s due…

and no, I am not ‘clueless’

  14. Franchise

im a cheque book fan who wants more of a chequebook manager

NIgeria needs a finance minister….. wenger can take that role if all he cares is balancing the books

  15. gambon

So Wenger is better at trading players, Fergie is better at winning trophies.

When they start giving out the premier league to the manager that made the most profit in the transfer window that will be very useful.

  16. Cotto

david, my point about who is following who.. was centred around the moans about wenger flooding the game with young foriegn kids

fergie now does that… without any complaints

    that was my point fella

come on mate, get with it or get out.

  17. SUGA3

fuck me, he didn’t just score, his ran thw whole length of the pitch, he has potential to be a monster, plus he is a Gooner – perfect!

but oh no, he is a party boy, the devil incarnate, he would contaminate our team of fucking choir boys…

and oh, as I type this, Tevez scores…

    —————————–

Keane was signed for 3.5 million…Blackburn had offered 4m…Keane chose to go to United…otherwise be it a record breaking transfer deal it was hardly a exclusive to United.

Didnt we buy DB10 at a british record?

  19. David

    cotto

Oh i thought the moan was about signing kids in general and the whole peado chants thing.

My mistake. Still dont see what the fuss is about though. Fergie has been signing kids long before Wenger.

  20. SUGA3

please – I would love to piss myself laughing, can someone tell me again that Richards is shit and Campbell will be a great signing?

it just doesn’t work when I say this…

  21. Pat

SUGA, actually is skews the facts A LOT. We’re talking about a 5 year period. Taking CR out of the equation makes it a lot more accurate because he was a one off! His sale completely alters all the facts!

No, I’d rather keep Wenger at this point. In case you haven’t heard, UEFA will, sooner rather than later(2010/2011 are the dates mooted) make financial rule changes. Not sure if you’ve heard, but as of right now, LPool and United would not be allowed to take place in the CL. Chelsea and Arsenal would.

Also, who gives a flying fuck about SAF’s time inn Scotland?!?! Juande Ramos from Sevilla was much more impressive. 3 pts behind Madrid and Barca despite spending little amounts of money. 2 back to back Uefa cup triumphs.

Talents such as Capel, Navas, Fabiano, Dani Alves!!!!

  22. SUGA3

    Pat,

I am all for Wenger continuing in the ‘coldest of the hotseats’, but can someone remind him that we are a football club in the first place?

  23. Franchise

Pat SAF has 15 division titles incl. 14 first division titles

he is as successful as Arsenal in terms of league titles :D

  24. ondgooner

Hey! I loved your ironical sacarsm! It was enchanting to say the least and I for one agree with the sentiments expressed. Have all the money in the bank but win nothing!
This is the true Arsenal style lately under Messuer Venger!!

  25. SUGA3

    A,

no, he is not – it is Toure that is making him look bad…

we need some of ‘his sort’ – arrogant fuckers, they give you the edge…

Richards is much better than we have as backup – absolutely pisses over Djourou, he is stronger mentally than Sendy and don’t get me started on Sly…

I felt insulted by him being made captain in th WHU game…

  26. Pat

Franchise, shouldn’t you be on the mancunian website?

And he relied heavily on money to achieve that. The short period he had without money showed him as a flop in my eyes in what was then a very, very pathetic and weak English league. Yet, he still relied on money.

  27. A

Toure making him look bad?? He was moved to right back last season because he was such a liability in the centre, and is only playing centrally now because of injuries and toure being away at the anc, he’s an emergency centre back, and pants there!

I don’t rate JD, but I’d have both he and Sendy over Richards.

He’d be a decent sub right back if Eboue left, but that’s it.

  28. A

Yeah suga, he has time to improve, he could become quality if he gets his head in order, but currently I wouldn’t want him near our team even as a back up centre back.

  29. Pat

    SUGA, a legend!

Richards is shit and I wouldn’t say he’s strong mentally. He’s been just as bad as Toure this season, if not worse.

  30. SUGA3

I think we should snap him up before ‘Arry does – he will become quite a player and then AW will be rocking in his chair and feeding us the ‘we nearly signed him’ bollocks…

  31. patthegooner

I hope Everton continue their form and beat Shitty at the weekend.

I am sure this is just new manager syndrome or at least I hope it is, they are in good form. Tevez on fire.

  32. Pat

Franchise, you’re not telling the truth. Most United fans even say the CR sale make things look much brighter than they really are.

The most accurate reflection is when CR is not included. That tells the whole story.

  33. SUGA3

    Cotto,

thought you were intelligent – obviously I mean defensive signing…

you mean WC? please – Theo has fuck all chance of making it…

  34. A

SUGA3 he hasn’t kept his place in the city side, he lost it, then played at right back. At the age of 18 he was an amazing talent at centre back, since then he’s gone backwards, and currently only plays centre back if they have noone else. The talent is still there but the likelihood of him putting his head down and putting the work in to fulfil his potential isn’t massive.

  35. Pat

SUGA, Theo is shit. Richards is older.

Richards made his last appearance during Euro qualifiers, no??

Different position, so a stupid argument to make.

He’s only playing because City have many injuries back there. Onouha, Toure, Lescott were all ahead of him when fit, which says a lot

  36. SUGA3

    A,

I still think we have missed a trick there – should have bought him for peanuts while Pearce was still there…

but no, it’s better to buy some fucking African kid and struggle to get a work permit and all that…

  37. A

He was still being offered around for £5 mil at the start of this season SUGA, let alone when Pearce was around. No big club wants him, because of his shocking attitude and his development going backwards.

  38. A

I’m happier with signing Vermaelen than Richards too, £5 mil more and 2 years older but a world of difference between them.

  39. Pat

Cahill is a bit overrated. I wouldn’t want an English CB to be honest.

Cahill had quite a few shaky games this season.

  40. David

Pat It is also the fact that Fergie signs the most prolific players and the most nasty defenders…its the desire and ambition thats there

If Pele himself was available for 25m..Wenger would go on Arsenal.com and tell us that “Pele is too expensive for us”

Look at Andy Cole for example…Most prolific player in the League and SAF got him for 6m and a shyte Goalie…

Andy Cole, Terry Shitfuckingham, 3.5m, a 17 year old Soljear for a the price of a hand bag…

Even the heavy transfer of Ruud Van Shitroy for 19 mill was resold to Madrid for 22. While the fucker single handedly scored United to the tittle.

I think if we showed abit of ambition and took abit more risks..the rewards are worth it.

Ronaldo thing is only for the past couple years but in the 90′s SAF did a fair bit of good business.

  41. Cotto

not seen as much of cahill as last year.. but he is a very good no nonesense premiership clas defender.. but would be far too expensive.

  42. Pat

Franchise, Hughes wasn’t clueless. Richards was awful. Citty started the season with 4 clean sheets in a row or something like that.

Mancini is lucky he has had a very easy run of games thus far.

Tevez is on fire. Hat trick

  43. A

I wouldn’t want Cahill nor Upson.

Upson threw tantrums as a kid not playing regularly, no way he’d be happy to sit on the bench now, and he’s not good enough to ever play regularly for us imo.

Cahill is just the flavour of the month, not a bad player, but he’ll never be top top quality, which is what I want us to have to partner Vermy, who is top top quality.

  44. patthegooner

    Anyway fuck Tevez

We have the prolific deadly potent clinical super nic Bendtner back in a couple of weeks,

Who needs ambition in the transfer market when Arsenal.com tells you that an injury is going to turn a kid into a WC goal machine.

    Tevez….Rubbish.

  45. Cotto

i thought cahill was also just a paper name… but the fella can defend… he is still only 24.. and at 6ft 2 or 6ft 3.. has the height we need.. is right footed to play with vermy.. and proper no nonesense which i love in a defender.

no pissing around, get the man or get the ball… no 3rd choice.

  46. Cotto

keyser, GG had to chose between cole and kevin campbell.. and andy cole was a right fucking rebel back then… GG took no prisioners.

  47. Keyser

Never understood that, heard he nicked something or read it somewhere.

Andy Cole and Ian Wright together would’ve pretty awesome.

  48. Juan Carlos

That was by FAR the greatest thing i have ever read.

100% spot on. i love the sarcastic humor mixed in with the realistic arsenal approach….

we are shit, but hey, we could be great tomorrow.

  49. Franchise

fuck me… you trying to bang him?

cotto ur time will come, get in the queue

    lol

  50. Pat

    Yes it was David.

On 10 January 1995, Cole was suddenly sold in a shock deal to Manchester United for a deal worth £7 million – £6 million cash plus £1 million-rated Keith Gillespie going in the opposite direction, setting a new record for most expensive British transfer at the time. This record was broken five months later by Arsenal’s £7.5million acquisition of Dennis Bergkamp from Inter Milan.

  51. David

There you go Pat it was at a time when the Clubs where in a financial position to break records left and right.

If 6m is todays 25million and Andy Cole would be available today and would be the highest scorer in the league…

Do you think Arsene would put cash plus Almunia in the deal to get him?

    Ofcoarse not.

  52. Pat

Funny thing about Cole was that he was very much like Bendtner with his finishing. When he got older, that improved tremendously.

    Maybe Bendy will follow suit?

  53. A

£25 mil now wouldn’t be the same as £6 mil back then though, football has changed greatly, not because of inflation, but because of the rise of the prem, and billionaires treating football clubs as playthings.

You could spend £6mil then and still be well within your means.

  54. Zorr0

Andy Cole was deadly as a kid, but he stalled a little bit and never got that much of a chance with GG. That and his bad attitude and the fact KC would play wherever GG told him led to him going and Kev staying.

Hindsight says bad move, but at the time, before WWW wrecked KC, looked a decent shout!

  55. David

I will agree with that A,

But Wenger hasnt shown any desire to break any records…

Would it be fair to say we can spend 25million and still be well within our means?

  56. Zorr0

Still say that the end of season 92, from when Wrexham turfed us out the cup and GG went mental and was playing WWW, Campbell, Limpar, Merse, SMith and Rocky was one of the most exciting Arsenal teams ever. A few more games that year and we would have beaten Leeds to the title!
