No one in but Sol Campbell and Denilson will return soon. I have now seen the light!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So after the interesting game that saw us win a point against top team Everton on Saturday, fans will have to wait until Sunday until we play Bolton. I for one can’t wait.

Pedro covered the game yesterday, all I can say there is at least the mercurial Denilson will be back on Sunday, Bendtner will be back in two weeks, Almunia got through the game un-injured and we may well be re-signing Sol Campbell, happy days then, the really good news is we won’t be spending any money so we will be in good financial shape.

Yes I know we didn’t really make the most of that game but don’t complain, we are in great shape. We are in third spot in the English Premier League, in the next round of the FA Cup and through the group stages of the European Champions league, how can we not be happy with that?

Resigining Sol Campbell will be like signing a new player and Fran Merida looks like he’ll be staying, I understand Man City, Aston Villa, Spurs, Man United and Chelsea are also thrilled we’ll be making no more signings, as they also believe we have enough in the locker room.

So they are thrilled, the board are thrilled and many of our weekend bloggers that came on, will also be besides themselves with our progress.

For any of you that may be a little disappointed out there, don’t be, as we are in great financial shape, and that’s the most important thing.

Ivan is rumoured to be taking the rest of the season off along with the 300 worldwide scouts we have, as there will be nothing to do until the summer, when all the 17 year old starlets will be looking for their first big professional contracts, and we all know that Arsenal is seen as the place to be as we pay so well and they will all get a chance to impress.

I just hope that Almunia gets a new and extended contract soon to match Denilson’s, as going through the summer wondering whether or not he’ll be off to Real Madrid will be too much for me to handle.

Anyone who may be a little nervous at the performance against Everton, don’t be, they drew against Chelsea, drew against Spurs and lost to us 6-1, but our team showed the same spirit as they did when we played Chelsea, so we have a lot to look forward to, mental strength, financial stability are massively important and don’t forget, we have a very young squad.

Not a lot more that I can add to all that. I hope this post shows the few doubters out there, that we are now true Arsenal fans, just like they are.

Have a great day Grovers, I’m sure our competitors will!

I was just about to say that!

Wenger? Break the British Record to buy Bergy?

    Was never going to happn.

Especially seeing as every player in the 25m bracket which is well within our means who might be potentially World Class and an Arsenal legend is too expensive for us.

But Im cheering myself up that a 20 year old fuck up is back in 2weeks.

  2. Zorr0

Devil’s advocate David. Say we paid 25m for Villa. What would his wages be on top of that. What would it also cost us in increasing other player’s wages for parity with Villa; Fab, RVP, AA, Silvestre(lol)?

How much would that 1 player cost over the 3 seasons of his contract?

  3. David

Dont want to hear the player wages arguments Zorro

If Arsene can give 15 players new contracts this term alone he couldve certainly been able to afford 1 players wages over 3 seasons.

  4. Zorr0

Franch, remember the sheff weds home game, I think we won 6-2 after going a goal down, something like that. GG must have been smoking some serious shit during that time!

  5. A

Oh no of course not, Shearer, but other than Shearer the Wiltord deal would’ve been the British transfer record! At that time we’d spent more than Utd and Chelsea had….

  6. Fishchip

    David-

I don’t think it’s lack of ambition. We’re close to the top atm. What clod doesn’t want to be close to the top of the English fucking Premier League?

I think Wenger is being Wenger. See how we do through Jan with injuries. Granted, we’re all feeling a bit… shall we say… urgent, -because- we’re so close to the top. We all feel we need That One Signing, right now. We still have three weeks to sign someone though. If February comes and we’ve dropped a shitload of points this month and there’s no new face, by all means, let the Apocalypse begin. =)

  7. PaulPaul

We don’t need to buy a new keeper.

I think schensy is the best but the youngest keeper we’ve got.
It’s always difficult to find a good confident keeper.

I think schesny will the be our number one in less than one year.

Almunia is not the best for sure, but it’s not an easy task to drop your keeper. It’s like killing the guy.
Almunia scares me a lot, but I support him every time he plays for us because I always want to win, and you always win with the ressources you’ve got at your disponal.

Denilson’s not flashy but he doesn’t deserves the treamtment he’s getting from some younger or impatient fans.

Has anyone learnt something from the improvment of Van Persie, Ade, Song, Diaby ?

I won’t be unhappy with any new signing, but I believe :
    1) This team can win the Premier league this year, and will win it, i’m sure about that.
    2) No one can be sure that a new signing will add something to this team in a short time basis.
    3) The new signing could end up in the treatment room as soon as he starts to scare the premiership hard boys. Our players don’t get enough protection from referees even on our own ground! The FA should really invest in formation of both players and referees in England.

There are always rooms for improvment in everything, but we shouldn’t be systematcally negative and abusive toward the team. Of course, every body is free to express his concers about the team, but we should try and be fair. Players need not only our support but our respect.
After all, it’s our team, and we all love it.
    We’re all winner.
Let’s believe together and we will succeed together.

This year could be ours no matter what we or others teams do in the market.

The winner will, in any case, need luck and believe it or not, our support brings luck to the team.

  8. Maciek

Franchise and A. Good evening, gentlemen. Knowing his principles, he would say that Bergy comes from an Italian League and he has had a bad season and that 7.5 m pounds is a lot of money. A, Overmars was bough because Dennis recomended him. Theirry was a player when Wenger was at Monaco and Gerrard Houllier was youth team coach at Monaco. So, it was a no brainer( the whole Henry deal). Just my opinion.

  9. Zorr0

David, what do you think the figures are though. I am interested, not claiming that it is right or wrong in the context of the discussions.

    Wiltord 13 mill! Hmm!

  10. Franchise

wenger had something to prove trophy wise in his earlier years hence his proactiveness in the transfer market

now he has something else to prove.

this new project is like his master piece.

    he wont budge

  11. David

    Wrong Again A,

United Spent about 28 million on Dwight Yorke, Jaap Stam and Jesper Blomqvist…

They got Yorke for the same price we paid for Wiltord.

  12. Maciek

When I have seen 1,300 comment I started to think we have signed David Villa.LOL. Unfortunately this is ARSENE FC and it will never happen.

  13. Pedro

Paying 13mill out when you’ve received 23mill for a 19 year old… hardly a mind blowing fee! Especially with what was going on round Europe at the time!

  14. David

    Z0rr0

    In the context of discussion.

If we had a world class player for 25 it would prob cost another 10m to keep him for 3 season.

Something i think we can generate off of shirt sales alone.

I know id buy a David Villa shirt for sure.

  15. B.B.K.

united might drop as many points in the second half of the season but chelsea won’t them games we got coming up will fuck us completely

  16. B.B.K.

Where i used to sit, near the red action lot there was one geezer with senderos on the back of his shirt i reckon he’s the only one with his name on the back ..

  17. Pedro

Wiltord was a disappointing buy wasn’t he.

I was expecting Ian Wright Mk II

He did do that amazing bit of skill where he’d spin round in a circle with the ball… very clever.

  18. Maciek

I remember that about 7 seasons ago they bought Veron and Van Nisterloy for combined 50m pounds and then I startted to think they are unstoppable. And we have signed Sol and won the league.

Now they are 700m plus in debt and I have heard, Fergie must sell first to buy.How things can change.

Opposite to this our tight manager have money to spend but is to stubborn.

  19. patthegooner

I absolutely hate the line of

You cant guarantee a new signing will bring anything to the team in the short term

    Or

You dont know if that new signing would end up injured almost straight away.

What a load of old tosh, it is just another excuse for Wenger not doing his job.

Apart from that, very passionate post PaulPaul.

  20. David

    A Says:
    January 11, 2010 at 22:30
Oh no of course not, Shearer, but other than Shearer the Wiltord deal would’ve been the British transfer record! At that time we’d spent more than Utd and Chelsea had…

    ——————

Yea A, Thats about 28 million isnt it?

Did we spend more than United when they spent about 28million at that time?

  21. Pat

    A, thanks for that site!!

Franchise, go on the link A posted and click on Wankchester United. Like I said, CR sale makes the numbers look pretty.

Look at the net spend each year barring 08/09 ffs. Thats a lot of money, a lot.

BBK, we need everyone to have faith. let the shit talking come after that period. We were awful last year but had a good record against the top 4. Its possible. I hope Song will be back though!!

  22. Cotto

lol david, i’m sure you want to do all you can to beat A in this argument.. but transfer fee is nothing to do with wages.

we were 2nd in the OFFICIAL britsh transfer list at the time.. utd were 3rd.

  23. patthegooner

Thanks Pedro, those were the words I was looking for.

It is that mentality that says what is the point of ever signing anyone.

of course we would could possibly win the league without signings but the odds that happening are very very slim.

  24. A

Yeah Pedro, i was thinking that just after I wrote it, it was prior to their £150 mil plus year!

We were big spenders, then Utd went mad with Veron and RVN, then Chelsea took it to a whole new level.

  25. PaulPaul

B.B.K., I did watch the game.
We didn’t really perform as usual. I cannot draw any conclusion from this kind of game.I give a lot of credit to Everton as well. They had a point to prove.
I was not suprised to see them so fired up, after the humiliation we gave them earlier this year.

Denilson just came from injury. Ramsey was awful.
Nasri was doing every thing except a decent forward play.
    Arshavin was losing his battles.
    We defend badly.
The same team can do better.

We do have Teo, Cesc, Bendtner, clichy, Song (in 4 weeks) coming back.
    We’ve got senderos. He’s a decent backup.
Coquelin and Eastmond can do a job when playing with strong and performing senior players.

  26. Jimbo

“Jimbo – “As for Ferguson, when he took over, Utd were practically in the relegation zone, and couldn’t finish top half.”

Honestly dude, it gets worse every time you say it, next it’ll be Fergie the parapalegic trying to run the marathon to raise money for the club he loved as a kid, and has fallen on ahrd times.

Whats the point in discussing anything if you’re not willing to be rational or reasonable.”

Well Keyser – you did bring up the comparison with Fergie, I’m just pointing out why it doesn’t work

  27. David

    Cotto

You cant ignore the facts that we pay wages to players otherwise people like Z0rr0 wouldnt be talking about the technical impossiblities of signing great players because their wages would cost too much for us (Allegedly) despite handing out so many new contracts to the players who have not proven themselves.

The fact is United wouldve paid more overall on Yorke than we’d have paid on Wiltord.

    Thanks for that site A!

Still Wiltord wasnt the british Record :D

  28. patthegooner

PaulPaul are you Wenger in Disguise?

It was not just about coming back from injury,

For Denilson to be so outclassed and bossed in the midfield was beyond just a lack of sharpness and match fitness. It was a lack of ability and quality to play that position.

It comes back to round pegs square holes, it is poor management.

  29. Cotto

its more sickening that utd, chelski and liverpool and even moenybags city have spend SHITLOADS!!!

and we haven’t…boo hoo hoo :(

  30. Zorr0

Ok BBK, so I will say chavs drawing at home to everton, obviously the kind of result that means you cannot win the league by your reckoning.

Franch, it was unbelieveable football after a few years of 1-0 to the Arsenal! Shame GG then decided to fuck it all up and turn us into a cup team; football was dire but I suppose we son some trophies, which is always nice, lol!

  31. Pat

But we may profit from all this suffering once the Uefa rules go into effect!

ABOUT MUCHA, the Legia keeper we’ve been linked with. I was talking with my dad the other day and he watches Polish league whenever its on.

    1. He was 2nd fiddle to Fabianski because Fabianski was in a rich period of form and Mucha was just bought as his replacement due to the impending move to Arsenal.

    2. My dad never rated Fabianski. He had a good run of form, but still made rash decisions and still does.

    3. As an Arsenal fan, my dad thinks 4 million would be a steal for Mucha. He really rates him.

    4. My pops hates Almunia as much as we all do. He goes on rants during games about how shit he is. To the point where I have to tell him to shut up already!

I really hope he is being watched by Arsenal now.

  32. A

pat gotta disagree, the whole team was pants on Saturday, Arshavin was no better than Denilson, who is absolutely fine in there at DM imo.

yeah bbk, because we’ve got so many africans at the moment?!

  33. patthegooner

A, yep the whole team were pants, but playing pants is one thing, you can sort of excuse a player having a match where nothing is coming off.

But to be so obviously brushed off possession with such ease is not just having a bad day at the office. He is not capable of playing that position, he lacks the physical strength to play there, it is not his fault, that is not his game.

  34. Zorr0

David, I asked a genuine question, I even said it wasn’t to prove me right and you wrong or vice versa, so why slag me off like that?

  35. B.B.K.

there’s probably not enough of them at the club since kolo and ade left a maybe wenger feels he needs a few more back at the club

  36. patthegooner

Pat, that rumour was rubbished by this club last week.

Good to get some inside knowledge on him though as the You Tube Clip was pretty embarrasing, which is odd as they usually make every player look WC

  37. A

It depends pat, he played there against Stoke and did very well.

He’s physically lacking, which means the team is a bit unbalanced when all the other players are weak, but in most situations he’s absolutely fine.

imo it wasn’t physically that he or we fell short though at the weekend, it was exactly the same as the first half at liverpool, they just pressed us with such ferocity that we couldn’t deal with it, it wasn’t down to a lack of strength, with denilson nor anyone else.

  38. B.B.K.

nope eagle i knew someone would get on there high horse about that comment,im not being racist just to clarify, for all the pc brigade out there

  39. patthegooner

I must have missed something then A, as a lack of strength is exactly what I saw.

Agree that the addition of Cesc this weekend will cover up Denilson’s lack of talent. Although that is not how you put it :)

  40. Maciek

Pat. Best wishes to You and Your Dad,but….

I come from Poland. I watch our league and:

    -our league is crap,
-Mucha is good but not good enough for us,
    - he is better than the Clown but who isn’t?
    - he isn’t better than Łukasz,
-we need a world class gk)Adler, Lloloris)
    - Mucha isn’t good at coming to crosses.
    Take care.

  41. David

    Zorr0

Apologies mate. It wasnt meant as a slag off.

I just heard too many people come up with that wage bill argument after the’ve run out of ideas of how we dont have any money to spend.

    Blog hug? :D

  42. Pat

ptg, you never know. Many rumors are rubbished only for the deal to go through. He’ll leave after the World Cup, thats for sure.

Chamakh and Mucha during the summer market? Damn it, we need them now!

  43. A

pat I’d say it was more that Denilson wasn’t sharp, and Ramsey’s awfulness made his job much much harder, though obviously Cesc will make it easier. The entire team struggled, Denilson didn’t struggle any more or less.

Denilson has a lack of athleticism, not talent

  44. David

I think its unfair to moan about the russian.

Cesc was pants last season because he was feeling abit lonely with the likes of Song and Denilson both absolute shite playing next to him.

We all know that when Cesc has world class around him he plays better…same with Sheva…they work really good together its like theyve been playing for years.

Its like that World Class Analogy Pedro used.

If you were a World Class Chef flipping burgers at Mcdonalds would you be feeling giddy about coming to work?

  45. Pat

Thats funny Maciek. I hear from many people that he and Sandomierski are the best keepers in the league.

Sandomierski is fucking brilliant and will fight for the future #1 jersey with Szczesny. If Mucha is on the same level, he can’t be shite, surely?

If we don;t buy a keeper, we should let Szczesny play. The German clubs let their young keepers play. CSKA Moscow let Akinfeev play when he was very young although I wouldn’t want him. Awful at crosses and cannot catch the ball.

  46. patthegooner

What Denilson does have to do this week though

Is Man Up. I really hope we are bullying the fuck out of him training cause both Bolton and Villa will be targetting him as the weak link. He needs to put in a few niggling tackles and let the cunts know that they can’t take the piss out of him.

Personally I would rather us return to 4-4-2 whilst Song is away

Preferably I would like to see us buy a DM, but there is more chance of the Spuds signing Messi.

  47. Keyser

Jimbo – Of course it doesn’t work, it’s not supposed to, it’s easy saying he’s had more time than any other manager, when no other manager has faced the same sort of problems.

Fergie had 5 years to build a club to his standards, not any club but probably one of the two biggest in the country ? United were’nt Aberdeen or St Mirren, they weren’t a club that should be threatened by relegation in the first place.

What Fergie had to deal with is nothing like what the Premiership is today, he basically had 5 years without any pressure whatsoever and still nearly cocked it up.

  48. Cotto

i just hope we are in the CL next season.. and can put in a title challenge.

we got fuck all to look forward to this season.

  49. PaulPaul

When Clichy’s back, I would try Armand Traoré in DM.
Wenger did it with Petit. And Armand could be a good DM.
Wether it’s for a keeper, a DM, a striker, or a CB, we’ve could do something, bu I won’t buy a player if he’s not world class.
A wolrd class player is not always available a any time.
Pedro, Arsene is never inactive on and off the pitch. I am sure if he really find a player he likes, he will buy him. Sometimes he surprises people.
We can still win without any new signing. I suspect some fans, to enjoy signings of player, the same way the love to watch or support a team.
That’s our world today. It’s a daddy suggar world. I don’t like it in the game. Money’s not god, and siging for the sake of signing or being active, is just a stupid spuds way to do things.

  50. patthegooner

Again there A, I disagree, Ramsey was the man in form and the one who deserved and earnt his place. Who is to say that it was not Denilson’s shitness that caused Ramsey to have a poor game?

  51. Maciek

Pat, I would not want to have Igor either. But Lloris, Neuer and Aldler could do the job. Mucha is good, but not as good.Just my opinion. Sandomierski is also good. We do have many quality keepers, shame we do have crap up field players.

  52. Jimbo

Well Keyser, you were the one who brought up the comparison, not me.

Either way, 5 years without improvement will be too much from Wenger, as it would be from any manager, in any sort of ‘problem’.

Wenger is Arsenal’s biggest problem. Get rid of the cancer, and we can maybe start to hope again.

  53. A

pat currently there’s more cover there! I’d be much more worried about being bullied in 4-4-2, one of the reasons for the current system is that there are three central midfielders and the extra body makes a difference! 4-4-2 we’d be much weaker imo.

Bolton should be fine, though Villa will be a worry, he isn’t the weak link though, and wasn’t against Everton, the whole team wasn’t clicking and passing the ball crisply, which is what will fuck us up if we don’t click in the next two games. If denilson isn’t fit for bolton i’m very very worried though, because we have literally noone else who could play that role.

  54. Cotto

how i wish we could still be in with a shout of the title.. its fucked being 3 fucking whole points behind a rampant chelski with only 18 games left.

    fucked.

  55. David

    Yeah Cotto

3 points behind is 3 points behind…18 games left or 1 game left.

3rd in the league is 3rd in the league.

Personally i think we’d rather be first. But i dont know you seem perfectly fine with 3rd.

  56. RedandDread

Fucking amazing. Sitting 3rd, managing a injury list the length of John Holmes dick, in the next round of the CL (playing fucking CL solidly for 10 yrs +). Grooming exiting young players into a squad, managing the club in dire finacial times………..all u mutherfuckers can fuck right off. U hurry come ups….we wouldn’t even be in a fucking poistion where we expect fantastic football and challenge for honors consistently if it weren’t for the foresight of one AW.

we drew a game against a combative , good Everton team in the dying fuckin seconds! He manages, we support…….fuckwits the lot of u! What do u want- to walk the league every season. FFS, we are in the business end now and are in with a BIG shout.

Appreciate what you have and maybe you will enjoy the ride!

  57. Cotto

look here you loonies.. i am fucking realist

no fucking team in history has made up 3 points on the leaders with only 18 games left

you fucking left wing, communist fuck AKBs

  58. patthegooner

    A

You dont think Muamba and Taylor would have watched the tape and thought right lets do a Fellani on Denilson???

I guess we will never agree on this one (As ever)

Catch you tomorrow guys, nice blogging with you.

  59. A

pat ramsey not being capable of controlling or passing the ball had nothing to do with denilson who was behind him. Ramsey just totally failed to cope with the pressuring from everton, which is excusable for someone his age, but imo he was the worst player on the pitch, and totally off his game

  60. Pat

We’re linked with Saha again. He wants 60k a week apparently and his contract is up in the summer. Everton can’t afford that so they will surely want to sell, no?

This is an interesting one as I watched this game this weekend.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1242465/Chelsea-lead-Arsenal-Manchester-City-chase-Racing-Santanders-Spanish-starlet-Sergio-Canales.html?ITO=1490

The lad scored 2 goals and they were both quality goals and I asked myself who the fuck is this lad? Now we’re linked with him.

  61. A

pat they could’ve watched it all they want, just as they could’ve watched messi’s third goal and thought that’s what we’ll do, it doesn’t mean they have anything like the ability to do that!!

we’ll see at the weekend though

  62. Zorr0

Red and dread; John Holmes dick, lol!.

No David, if we were 3 points behind with 1 game left I might give up. 18 to go I think I’ll buckle up a while longer!

I was the only 1 of a group of us who went to Anfield in 89. Something to do with having faith I guess!

  63. David

Muamba is certainly not shite A,

Felleni isnt even a defensive player…he’s an attacking midfielder ffs…look at what he did to denilson/ramsey….lol.

  64. RedandDread

Oh one more thing-I swear some u you toads must be just out of kindergarten based on the inane comments you make. It’s suppossedly a free world and people can say what u wish but geezus some of you have stones for brains.

  65. Keyser

Jimbo – I brought it up because you randomly pop up with silly little statements over the course of a season, Wenger’s your problem not Arsenal’s, you like several others have an irrational hatred of the man and just like to vent from time to time, I can udnerstand that.

Doesn’t give what you say any more credence, just makes you seem bitter.

  66. David

    Zorro

I think what we’re saying is that we’d rather be 1st than 3rd. I mean its not like it was impossible if we didnt slip up with Burnley and Everton…

So we are celebrating being 3rd doesnt really make sense especially given the run of games we have the next couple months :D

  67. A

it depends who he’s playing with david, he’s like fletcher, can act as the more defensive or offensive player. He made lampard, ballack, and mikel look pretty pants too.

muamba is definitely shite imo! terrible footballer, and doesn’t have anything like the intelligence to do to us what fellaini or mascherano did to us.

  68. Jimbo

Lol Keyser – so the non-sequiturs, straw-men, white-elephants and lord knows what else keep on coming from your direction then  .

Arsenal used to be a team capable of winning trophies. Christ, Wenger used to be a manager capable of winning trophies. Oh, how the mighty have fallen!

It was Wenger’s decision to destroy our midfield, not mine. The Gallic egotist has become the biggest problem this club has had in a decade, and we have no hope of actually winning anything until he’s gone.

  69. Keyser

Jimbo – “and we have no hope of actually winning anything until he’s gone.”

Don’t hate on me now, call it what you like, you have an irrational hatred of the man and it makes you sound very very bitter.

  70. David

    Well A,

There’s no arguments from me…we should beat Bolton comfortably. The fact that we dont have a target man is disrupting our offensive game…

Denilson or no Denilson…if we have clichy back its a good sign with his pace and experience.

As far as Muamba goes…i dont think he’s shite but even the shite players somehow when it comes to Arsenal decide to have the game of their lives…hope not tho.

  71. Keyser

“Was it Denilson up against Feillani? Or was it Song? In the start of the season. I dont know very hard to tell.”

Because they’re independant of each other ?!

We also had Van Persie and Fabregas in the team.

David, thing is, I don’s see many Gooners celebrating being 3rd , but I do see them judging that we are in a good spot for the run in, especially with 1 or 2 new players and some back from Colin Lewin’s office!

It just seems to me that those of us who feel like that get slagged off and called AKB’s because we don’t join in with the doom and gloom or AW slagging!

I’d say the fact that we don’t have a forward is disrupting us overall, though we’re still scoring alot of goals. It’s a link up forward we’re missing though imo, not a target man.

Bolton SHOULD be ok though, it just depends on the new manager honeymoon period, that’s my only worry, but so far this season we’ve not been troubled by teams who just try hard, it’s only been teams who are actually genuinly very well organised, and troubling all the top teams.

Without Denilson I’ve got no idea what’ll happen, Eastmond perhaps, or more likely Ramsey put in there, which could be a disaster

“Was it Denilson up against Feillani? Or was it Song? In the start of the season. I dont know very hard to tell.”

Because they’re independant of each other ?!

We also had Van Persie and Fabregas in the team.

Thats fucking funny. I didnt know Van Persie and Fabregas play in the same position. Are they both DM’s?

It would be to you, do you actually realise that football is a team game, or do you think Feillani and Denilson went off together for a bout of greco-roman wrestling.

Did Feillani play in that game or not ?!
